TRON 2.0 discounted 75% during Spring GOG 2024 Sale
TRON 2.0 is 75% off ($2.49 USD) at GOG.com during their Spring Sale until April 4, 2024!
Unlike the Steam version of TRON 2.0, this one is DRM-free. Meaning you can download a portable installer program, and install the game on as many computers as you like, as many times as you like. Without ever needing to be online to play, after downloading. (Well, unless you want to play Multiplayer, that is!)
While you can install and play the game as-is, I鈥檇 recommend checking out this guide on Steam:
Even though the guide is hosted on the Steam site, the advice there also applies to the GOG version. Modding the game will add support for widescreen display resolutions, and even fix the broken Multiplayer so you can play it again.
And, yes, any version of TRON 2.0 (Retail disc, Steam, GOG) will work on any version of Windows. Including the latest releases of Windows 10 and 11.
Even the Retail disc (CD/DVD) version of TRON 2.0 can be made to work on Windows 10 and 11, if you follow the first two steps of advice in the Steam guide.

Amanda Hearst, wife of TRON Ares director Joachim R酶nning, may have shared the first glimpse of a set on Instagram.
Thought it might be exclusively using ILM's StageCraft virtual sets for grid scenes, but apparently not!
Big thanks to Employee___427 on Twitter (yes, I'm still calling it Twitter!) for alerting me to this!

As I'm closing in on the end of development on the Killer App Mod v1.2 for TRON 2.0, I'm tackling some more difficult things. I have two progress update videos to share today.
I almost didn't share this one, for reasons that will become clear by the end of the video.
Here's an attempt in the upcoming Killer App Mod v1.2 to fix an issue causing players to get stuck in TRON 2.0, on the Alan's Desktop PC level. I almost didn't share this. It's long and boring. But wanted to explain my rationale, and previous attempts.
But, more importantly, I don't know if it's too soon to share it. Part of this is intended as a tribute to Cindy Morgan, and I hope other fans see it this way, too. You'll all have to let me know, if the result I'm showing here is good.
00:00 - Intro and Spoiler Warning 00:13 - Greetings Programs 01:40 - Why players get stuck on the vanilla (unmodified) Retail version of the Alan's Desktop PC level 03:58 - Monolith did have something in mind to help prevent players getting stuck, but it went unused 05:43 - First attempt to address this issue, in Killer App Mod v1.1a 06:43 - Second attempt to address the issue, in upcoming Killer App Mod v1.2 07:27 - The way the Xbox release of TRON 2.0 "fixed" this, was not ideal 08:50 - Third and final(?) attempt to address the issue, in upcoming Killer App Mod v1.2 11:10 - Adding full lip-sync to a character 11:51 - Why I almost didn't make this video 12:42 - Releasing this fix is intended as a tribute to Cindy Morgan 14:02 - End of Line 14:09 - Outro

As I'm closing in on the end of development on the Killer App Mod v1.2 for TRON 2.0, I'm tackling some more difficult things. I have two progress update videos to share today.
Killer App Mod v1.2 will feature upscaled textures. But upscaling was done selectively. Upscaling all the textures, en masse, would consume a lot more memory and disk space, for little benefit.
I would actually be grateful for everyone's assistance, in identifying more TRON 2.0 textures that should receive the upscaling treatment.
If you could send me screenshots on social media of what you think should be upscaled, I'd really appreciate your help.
00:00 - Intro and Spoiler Warning 00:37 - Thorne Torso - AI Filter + Upscaling 01:03 - Thorne Cloak - AI Filter 01:41 - Thorne Full Body - AI Filter + Upscaling 03:17 - TRON Arcade Game Cabinet Exterior - AI Filter 03:39 - Alan's Lab Coat Front, Back, and Sleeves + CRT Monitor + Laser Equipment Plaque + Paper - AI Filter + Upscaling + Manual Edit (Font on Plaque) 04:43 - Fixed Alan's Lenses in Glasses randomly disappearing, this occurs on any version of the game - modded or vanilla (unmodified) 04:53 - Alan's Lab Coat Front, Back, and Sleeves - AI Filter + Upscaling 05:28 - Laser Equipment Plaques - AI Filter + Upscaling + Manual Edit (Font) 05:52 - Walls on Progress Bar level - AI Filter + Upscaling + Manual Edit (Amber Circuits) 07:06 - Barrier Wall on Remote Access Node level - AI Filter + Upscaling 07:25 - Outro
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While testing, I discovered an issue I never noticed before. Thought it might have to do with my setup: GPU, driver install, etc. But, nope. It's for everyone in TRON 2.0, retail vanilla or modded.
Alan's lenses will randomly disappear. But I seem to have fixed it, permanently.

Cindy Morgan Zine Announcement
So many of us were heartbroken to learn of the recent death of Cindy Morgan. Not only was Cindy a talented actress and kind human being, she was incredibly involved with the Tron community and appreciative of her fans. For this reason, we would like to ask for your help in remembering her life and work.
We will be accepting art and written works remembering Cindy Morgan and the Tron characters she portrayed to create a digital zine in her honor. While art and fics are welcome, contributions do not have to be fictional. Stories and photos from fans who were lucky enough to meet Cindy, either in-person or through the Tronblr community鈥攐r from those who were inspired by her or the characters she portrayed鈥攁re also welcome.聽We would love to hear your memories of Cindy.
Though new works are encouraged, we will also accept works that have already been posted. You may submit as many pieces as you like, though we don鈥檛 guarantee that every submission will be accepted. Please keep submissions appropriate as this is a memorial zine.聽
In interviews, Cindy often mentioned how many women told her that her role as Lora inspired them to pursue a career in science, and how much this meant to her. In honor of this, we plan to make the zine pay what you can, and to donate any and all contributions to Girls Who Code in Cindy Morgan鈥檚 name. While donations will not be required to participate in or download the zine, any amount will be greatly appreciated.聽
We are still in the planning stages right now, but more detailed guidelines and submission dates will be available soon. Please spread the word! Follow this page for more information, and don鈥檛 hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you! 馃挋
