Treriksrøysa on the boundary between Finland, Norway and Russia
Treriksrøysa (Three-Country Cairn) is a cairn which marks the tripoint where the borders between Norway, Finland and Russia meet. The site is on a hill called Muotkavaara, in Pasvikdalen, west of the Pasvikelva and 15 km southwest of Nyrud just west of Krokfjellet in Sør-Varanger municipality of Finnmark, Norway.
Even when diabolical mosquito swarms make life hell for warm-blooded creatures, the remote lakes, wet tundra bogs and, to their south, Norway's largest stand of virgin taiga forest lend appeal to little Øvre Pasvik National Park, in the far reaches of the Pasvik River Valley.
Some 100km south of Kirkenes and 200 qkm in area, this last corner of Norway seems more like Finland, Siberia or even Alaska. Here, wolves, wolverines and brown bears still roam freely. The park is also home to some of the most northerly elk in Europe, Eurasian lynx and a host of relatively rare birds such as the Siberian jay, pine grosbeak, redpoll and smew.

Overnight trip with the tent at Finnemarka
Tried to find a nice starting point for a “Finnemarka på langs” long-weekend-tour, that should happen one day. The plan is to park the car in Drammen at the south side of the plateau, take the bus to norther end and hike the 50-60 kilometers back to the car.

Overnight MicroAdventure at Langvann
A short trip with a total of 6 km on foot and 25km with the car. We needed to test a tent and getting started with the 2018 camping season. The weather was warm and even the water was perfect for a swim 😃

Tourreport: Overnighter with the new tent at Hurum Sandbukta
Why not starting an outdoor-tour on Friday after work? Exactly! After work (in Norway, that´s 16:00), did we get back come home and finished packing our bags 👍🏼. That took a bit more time than expected due to new equipment and some errands we (I) had to run. Finally at around 19:30, the car was parked and we started our tour 🏕☀️.

Climbing and hiking
Out hiking mini trip started after a little shopping stop in Tofte. This was my 2nd time  to walk this route, so my lovely lady had an experienced guide on her side.We choose the “hiking” route on our way to the camp side, as it is easier to climb up than down. The weather was good, the sun was shining and the weekend had just started.

Østnestangen for a photo-shoot
It is always motivating to reach your tour goal. After some rock-climbing did we arrived at Østnestangen and shot the mandatory photos. The real goal for this tour was to test our equipment. In 2 weeks time, the tour over Hadangervidda is due. There, up on Europes largest high plateau, your gear needs to work. Rain, cold temperatures and wind demand that you come prepared.

First night in our new tent
I sold 6 of my old tents last week and the new tent arrived in the mailbox. After the test pitch in our backyard, were we now about to sleep in the new Helsport Fjellheimen SuperLight 2 for the first time. The tour-gods were on our side and painted the eventing horizon in magical colours. We stayed outside until midnight and went to bed in our sleeping bags. There were even some fireworks in the far distance at 23:30. Magical!

A sunny morning at Sandbukta
The sun warmed up the tent at 08:00 and we started the day with coffee and tea. Why stressing when one has time. We talk a lot and scheduled the rest of the day. Thinking outdoors in nature is so different to the day-to-day hectic at home and at work. We enjoyed the stay at the beach as long as we could and finally headed back to the car at around 11:00. A short 35 minutes walk later were we back in civilization and the tour was over. All to soon !

Did we enjoy the tour?
Of course! Weekend feeling, new equipment, fantastic weather and the feeling og being a part of nature is a great mix. We are almost ready for the next tour. Some last adaptions and Hardanger can come :-) How was you last tour? Any plans for the next MicroAdventure?
