Things We Love About Special Agent Pendergast: His Voice
“‘Excellent.’ D’Agosta heard a low, mellifluous voice behind him.” -page 78, Relic
“‘The name is Pendergast,’ came the soft voice, finally.” -page 86 The Cabinet of Curiosities
I love how his voice can go anywhere from being described as honeyed, quiet, and kind to cold, commanding and brisk.

Quote
“There is an old French curse: may your fondest wish come true. If this treatment is cheap and available to everyone, it will destroy the earth through overpopulation. If it is dear and available only to the very rich, it will cause riots, wars, a breakdown of the social contract. Either way, it will lead directly to human misery. What is the value of a long life, when it is lived in squalor and unhappiness?”

"You told me one time that . . . I was your compass. I gave you direction when you were lost," Ty said, nearly choking on the words. He glanced up, eyes reflecting like liquid in the low light. "Well, you were my anchor. You were something solid for me to hold onto. I wanted you to remember that."

I think I wanna work on some AU Loki fics next:
1. Loki in a hunter's community ala Supernatural.
2. Loki in a family of mobsters / assassins.
Need to work on the outline first. I think I may have something for (1).

Feeding Loki - Hawkeye
"Here boss, eat up," the agent named Hawkeye called out as he threw Loki a turkey sandwich.
"I am not hungry," Loki said as he put his sandwich on the table and continued to lock his gaze onto the monitor.
"Come on, boss. You're too skinny. And you haven't eaten anything for the past 8 hours," Hawkeye said as he picked up the sandwich and shoved it in Loki's face.
"I do not require sustenance as often as a mortal. I will be fine," Loki sniped as he waved Hawkeye away from his face.
"How can you be fine? You only had an apple for breakfast. One apple. Nuh-uh, don't lie to me. I saw you," Hawkeye said as he wriggled his finger at his boss.
Loki narrowed his eyes but he ignored his second-in-command and continued to stare at the monitor.
Hawkeye sighed and picked up the sandwich again and said "You really should eat better, you know. And please don't tell me you are afraid of putting on weight, because I gotta tell you, you need more meat on ya. So don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And if they did, come to me, and I'll sort it out for ya."
And still, Loki ignored him.
So he continued as he devoured his own sandwich, "Plus, this is a turkey sandwich, so it's good for you. None of those greasy burger that'd just clogg up your arteries. Lean meat and some greens in 2 slices of wholemeal bread. A well-rounded meal, boss. Are you sure you don't want it?"
Continued silence.
"You know I'm just gonna keep talking until you eat this delicious sandwich, right?" Hawkeye continued as he shook the turkey sandwich at Loki.
And then a long-suffering sigh.
"If I eat this, will you cease your nagging and let me be?" Loki asked in exasperation.
"Yes," was the short reply and as Loki turned towards the agent, Hawkeye continued in a sing-song reply with a grin, "Until the next meal, of course."
Loki gave him a vicious glare and then snatched the sandwich out of Hawkeye's outstretched hands as he mumbled about nagging agents whom he should have smite with his glowing stick.
Hawkeye put his feet on the table and leaned back on his chair, a big grin of satisfaction plastered on his face.

The Escape
"I do not wish to go back", the younger man said. He was lying on his side, and his head was on his brother's lap.
The older man stroke his brother's raven head, ever so tenderly, as if he knew of the fate that would follow this conversation, and replied softly, "I know."
"Please don't make me," a heartfelt plea from the younger man as he shifted and tried to bury his face at his brother's side.
"Shh... I won't. Not ever," came the reply.
The older man hummed a soft melody from their younger years, from a better time. Before they realized the wicked roles that destiny had made them play and subsequently lost. And before long, his brother hummed with him.
"Do not forget that I love you, my brother. And have faith that we will meet again one day," the man whispered as he pressed a kiss on his brother's temple.
The younger man nodded and he continued on with his humming, his eyes closed. He had started with a new tune, a sad tune that sung of death and separation. As if he knew, as if he anticipated his brother's choice. And perhaps he did know. And welcomed the escape.
The older man moved his palm to the back of his brother's neck. He pressed another kiss to his brother's temple. He was hesitant to do what he had decided but he knew he had no other choice. His brother, had no other choice. Anything else would bring a worse fate for the younger man.
The humming stopped at the end of the tune and a small voice asked, "Will you ever forgive me?"
And his response was quick, "There is nothing to forgive, little brother."
The younger man afford himself a small smile. Small traces of that same smile remained as his neck snapped and his head lolled lifelessly to the side.
The other man sobbed and then howled as he clutched his brother's body tightly.
"Go and be free now, my little brother," he whispered into the night.
And at that lingering moment, this man wished for Ragnarok. Just so his family would have the chance to start again, anew.
But for now, his brother is free. And he will have to be contend with that knowledge.

A baby girl is mysteriously dropped off at an orphanage in Cleveland in 1945. “Jane” grows up lonely and dejected, not knowing who her parents are, until one day in 1963 she is strangely attracted to a drifter. She falls in love with him. But just when things are finally…

He hid his hands behind him. His face was calm, but his eyes conveyed nothing but fury. A storm was looming.
His captor was still trapped in his own monologue, oblivious to his prisoner’s growing rage.
‘No one insults my brother, except me,’ his mind growled.
He opened his palm, green energy sparkled, only just lightly.
Before his captor had a chance to bask in his victor over him, he flung his arms outwards.
And for the next few seconds, they saw only green.
