I’m talking with some friends over how some of the dream daddy fandom went down.
It took like a week before an artist got death threats over fanart and the devs had to step in and even the devs started getting harassed and death threats.
and before that, people harassed the devs over having to push back the release date so they could work on fixing a game-breaking bug.
and before that people harassed the devs over the “cult ending” that doesn’t even exist.
and then before that people spread rumors and told people to pirate the game because it was profiting off of LGBT people and developed by cishet white guys (Game Grumps) even though they didn’t do anything except promote the game and lend their voices.
and as a bonus, that one asshole that tried to scam people into making what was basically a rip off of dream daddy.
and within like, a month or two of the games release the fandom had died out. It’s sad because Dream Daddy from what I know is an actually good game. It’s just that the level of drama and identity politics within the fandom basically killed it. People want and literally talk about craving diversity and representation in media but when they get it, they just ajdlfakdafdfad fucking demolish and find everything that is wrong with it.

For me personally I prefer to identify as queer bc it basically means “I’m a lot of things but straight ain’t one of em.”

Holy fucking shit does the fact it's geared to transphobic cis dudes make it any better? Why'd this anon think that'd make it okay.
Wait... I read that book and it's for a certain audience. It's for cis men who feel uncomfortable with transgender people, and designed to show them what it's like to be transgender. Give them a different perspective and change their attitude towards them. Also, it's not inherently lesbianphobic for a lesbian to change, cause that's something that happens in real life. Not often, but it does happen. Are you saying there's something wrong with lesbians who change their mind? They're still people
I literally do not care what audience it is for. It’s not teaching cis men what being trans is like. It’s about a cis man who pretends to be trans. It’s not even about actual trans people. And what it’s “teaching” isn’t the truth of what trans people are. It teaches that trans people are just confused, just making it up, and just doing it for sex. These are the exact opposite things we should be telling cis people.
And no obviously it’s not lesbophobic for a real-life person to change their label (equally not biphobic for someone who did id as bi to decide they’re actually a lesbian). Nor is it lesbophobic to write a book about someone who previously identified as a lesbian questioning their sexuality (if you want an example of that narrative done well, read Ramona Blue).
It is lesbophobic to write a book where a lesbian is raped by a man and that causes her to become straight. There is a massive fucking difference between someone realising they had the wrong label and changing it and a fictional person being used to demonstrate that labels are bs and lesbians can like men after all.
If you cannot understand the difference then I cannot help you.

It's the same thing if she had consented to him if he used a condom but then he didn't use one. That'd be rape, too. Consenting to one thing DOES NOT MEAN you consent to another.
Hmm... I don't think that's rape. Rape is nonconsensual sex. She consented to sex, and sex is what she got. If she had changed her mind when she got penis and said stop, and he didn't, then it would be rape, but if she didn't it's not rape. I know the book has other issues, but calling this rape is kind of insulting to actual victims of rape... and I would know
She consented to the use of a strap on. She didn’t know he was using his actual penis. Throughout the whole thing she thinks its a strap on and only after does he confess. So there’s no chance for her to tell him to stop.
It is non-consensual that he puts his penis inside her. That is rape.
Saying otherwise is like saying that if someone agrees to one sex act they consent to all of them. That isn’t how it works.
There was actually a case where something very similar to this happened in real life (a woman pretended to be a guy I think, catfished some woman, they met up and had sex blindfolded, she used a strap on). The woman who lied was convicted because that is rape. Legally and ethically.

friendly retail reminders
or not so friendly since some of y’all don’t know how to fucking act.
•when a retail worker greets you and asks you for help, you can politely decline. there’s no need for the nasty attitude, that’s literally their job.
•check your coupon dates and what they can be used for. your cashier isn’t responsible if your coupon expired or if you chose not to read what it’s actually going to cover.
•speaking of fucking coupons, yes you have to actually show the cashier your coupon.
•don’t haggle. it’s not a yard sale.
•something discontinued or out of stock? has nothing to do with the people that work there. don’t yell at them.
•if you’re looking for a particular item, take a picture of it or write it down. getting frustrated with an employee because you walked in looking for something but gave the most vague details is unfair. companies repackage things constantly and come out with hundreds of products each year.
•yes retail workers do get paid to pick up after a store. but should you leave your coffee cups and gum wrappers around? no, who fucking raised you?
•please watch your children. it’s your job to watch your child, not a retail worker’s.
•not all stock rooms are full of products. most of the time everything is out on the floor.
•don’t hit on retail workers you fucking creep. especially when you know they can’t voice their discomfort. they don’t want you. them being pleasant is part of their job description
a lot of these are common sense and just behaving like a kind and considerate human being. don’t be a dick
