1. ok im sorry you cannot post that thanatos and daphne panel and not tell me that isnt just hxp with hades painted a different color. thats like insulting bad in how lazy the art as become. also thats not how a kiss works, where did his mouth go?

2. i dont care if an artist draws their characters nude and w/ greek gods its kinda expected but its a purposely put in design feature and characterization and plot point in LO that persephone is barely legal with her age always being emphasized, is constantly sexualized without her knowledge esp by hades, and looks so young w/ several times of her just being naked while possible being a minor. like no wonder people get creeped out by LO even at first glance, that IS weird no matter how you cut it.

3. webtoon creators making nsfw work of their comics is not an issue lmao the problem in rachel's case is most of it is overwhelming about persephone being submissive and confused and even having hades call her a "little girl" and having it as the logo??? like if its behind a paywall thats one thing, but just cutting off the lower part and having it in print where kids can see it and disguising the context is disgusting. its not right, but i can see why some have some concerns about RS's character.

4. i know if it happens it wont be for awhile but god, the webtoons batman comic they put up is already up LO's butt and steadily climbing. If it actually pushes LO off it's top spot i'll be so happy. Not the hero we deserve but the hero we need. (PS its a good comic too, go read it even if you're not a DC fan!)

5. the LO porn rachel made wasnt even good lmao like a lot of was just uncomfortable to look at bc only hades seemed to be enjoying it and the other half just seemed traced from actual tumblr porn gifs so it just looked even weirder with her cartoon faces, like it was just weird? anyway congrats to rachel to somehow making even 4chan think she's gross. they literally invented bronies and even think that is weird.

Making Themis pregnant made lo and mythology timline dont much up, bc themis was one of zeus's first wife(i think second) but bc their kids were looking undesireble he break up with her, but didnt mistreat her like metis, but he gave her this job as a law goddes, and later marry hera. So if she is pregnant and she have only kids with zeus this would mean that he and hera would be couple for not too long, but their kids are older and in flashbacks it was shown that hera was his first choice.

9. The reason actually Law gods/goddesses are gone is cause reasonable people with any kind of morals will be against Persephone. Even if they're getting paid by the richest guy in the world to defend her. Only those who have not only drank the HXP Kool aid, but have downed an entire bowl of it through a funnel like a sorority girl at a frat party will be allowed to defend her. As is right of course. (1) I am watching atla for the first time and I know why zuko redemption worked while other’s (kylo, catara) failed, Zuko always has honor and was shown to care and make good decisions and be a good person even at his lowest points, like when he cared about his crew or tried to help and save a little kid even though the family and the kid ended up rejecting him, he never did something outrageous and he had time to learn and sort out his feelings before making a turn around and join the gang

putting this under a cut!

(2) azuko always acted upon what he believed was the right thing, once he was exposed to the outer world he learned how awful the fire nation was and the chain of abuse he was living in, he by himself made the decision and has 2 season in order to redeem himself while characters like Cassandra (tangled) and Catra had seasons of upping the stakes and acting more and more awful each time and only one season where the narrative are like “they were under someone else control and they were abused” (3) “so they nice blonde best friend who acts more like their sister and who they were abusing and victim blaming has to forgive them for everything bad they did because they were uwu abused too” and it seems many people like that which fine, if this was characterized as a delicate situation, where it could turns bad, which could turn to be even toxic, I wouldn’t have a problem with, but it is framed as beautiful and as good and as “true love!” (4) without the main aggressors Catra and Cassandra putting as much in their relationship as their blonde counterpart Adora and Raps who are forced to act as a matyr till they get fed up with their friends abuse and toxicity and put their foot down yet they always end up forgiving their abuser’s transgressions by the end somehow, it seems like the classic tale of “if he pulls your hair or means he likes you” which it’s most similar to (5) To the honeymoon or the reconciliation stage of an abusive relationship cycle’s, nothing assures you that the abuse won’t continue on but they sell it out as this wonderful and beautiful love story which it’s plain wrong, and I feel that it doesn’t receives as muy flack because it’s F/F but in reality in a relationship one has to be consistently good and reliable and as a bisexual women I feel like they are doing a disservice and it’s worse because it’s directed towards kids (5) and lastly both Wlw parings were being either outright mentioned or hinted at by the show or crew as this characters having a “sister bound” with Cassandra and Rapunzel Being outright being described as sisters in the show and Catara and Adora being described as that by the crew and with them growing having the same motherly figure and having a clear case of golden and scapegoat child, which coupled with the abuse they suffered at hands of their paternal figure and at each other hands makes the situation very gross

i have never seen ATLA outside of the first 3 eps but that is the general consensus ive heard. i have also never seen rapunzel TAS but i watched/read a bunch of spoiler stuff for it but i think my understanding is still loose. i also heard that he wasnt a villain very long idk how true that is though. but youre right from what im reading! i think it is important for your character to have an appropriate amount of time to make up for their actions... its also important with these redemption stories for the character to address the things they did, like not a “sorry for the things or whatever” but “i am sorry i did x , x, and x” etc IMO and there needs to be work put into making things right. and the victim should not necessarily be the one pushing them through that...

like i can say for certain if c*tra was a dude there would be a HUGE discourse about the fact that yeah, she really is that “mean because they have a crush on you” BS and whats most horrifying is that it seems like noelle saw NO problem with how she portrayed that relationship and all the guilt and suffering adra went through bc of ctra was really supposed to be romantic. fcking insane. like if it was just a fandom ship w.e.... ppl always gonna ship characters if they hate eachohter... but the actual creators saying its romantic is SO WTF abuse isnt negated by it being el gee bee tee rep and whats awful is i think people REALLY believe it is. not to mention uh your WLW love interest being an physically + emotionally volatile fascist who canonically does not care that she goes out to her way to aid violent takeover of innocents for a dictatorship is already like. huh.

(i mentioned also like even seagawk and mermista - her constant “uuuugh youre so annoying” about him is supposed to be cute apparently.... like noelle posted a pic of her in a shirt that says “im with stupid” pointing at seahawk and... like... that would be funny if they had healthy communication and she didnt seriously treat him like he was an idiot 24/7... but if this was reversed it would be a huge problem and everyone would flip out.)

i never thought catra and adora were written very sisterly since its undeniable that there was a clear attraction between them in the early part of the show but holy fck if the crew did say that.... ugh... although i agree it is really skeevy that their plot revolves around an abusive mother which i feel inforces the “adoptive siblings arent real siblings” pseudo incest trope as much as i think the interactions between catra and adora were not sisterly in how they were written. if that makes sense

i hate to bring up SU but i think it covers this topic really well w spinel - whos so toxic she literally poisoned people - while steven does set her on her path, he does not make himself responsible for her redemption. we get a snippet of that later ofc - where we see that she is trying to become better while also helping the other abusive characters through their change (which we also see is still ongoing - those behaviors havent been fully unlearned - nothing can be fixed that quickly). and most notably the victim (steven) while tolerating them through their attempts at change and encouraging them, does not forgive them and makes an open effort to distance himself even while his abusers still want him to help them 24/7.

whats bothering me the most is not that ppl enjoy these ships bc no matter what people will and you cant stop them but rather that ppl refuse to admit that something they like is abusive - either bc they want to save face as a unproblematic fandom blogger or bc they are 100% unwilling to take critique on something they like, to the point where now ppl wont accept any criticism on she ra at all as a show even if it has nothing to do w the awful excuse for romance.

endgame spoilers i watched it a couple weeks ago here are my complaints lol

nebula and gamora...... were done so dirty lmao....... i am not surprised, i knew this was gonna happen but still.

i mean i really liked nebula in endgame! i love seeing how far she’s come since gotg! she played a larger role in this film than i was expecting and that was nice!

i just disliked the fact that she ends up killing her past self?? it’s such an example of the problem with these big ensemble films... other characters’ arcs take precedence over other characters and so like while killing her past self makes sense for the overall narrative... it doesnt make sense for nebula’s character arc....

or like how since this the last film in which we’ll be seeing all original avengers together, of course it’s them that are prioritized over other characters which means Of Course it’s tony that ultimately defeats thanos even tho really it makes more sense for thanos to be defeated by nebula and gamora and that would’ve been a rly big development in their arcs but guess not! i guess! no can do!

they tried to make the tony vs thanos conflict this Big Dramatic Thing but in reality it is sooooo impersonal....... which makes the conflict and the resolution of that conflict just not very interesting to me...

like imagine if the gotg films were it’s own franchise. no other marvel movies exist, it’s not connected to anything else, it is it’s own thing. then that would mean the gotg franchise has thanos for itself and those films would be leading up to the defeat of thanos which can be fulfilled by nebula and gamora because theyre protagonists of these films. imagine how satisfying that wouldve been!! like gotg has always focused on themes of family! that franchise ending with nebula and gamora defeating their abusive adoptive father with the help of their new found family wouldve been so emotionally impactful and satisfying!

but nnnoooo instead we get tony vs thanos. they don’t even know each other. they’re just that one guy that got in the way of their desires. just an obstacle. that connection is not deep enough to be interesting

ok i went off on a tangent there but back to nebula killing her past self.... Why. we know that given time, the nebula that we see can change for the better! we know bc we see that nebula right there! our nebula! but nooope instead of getting a powerful scene about nebula literally staring her trauma right in the face and how she feels about that now that she’s grown so much...... she just kills her? i mean she tries to appeal to her? but this past nebula isnt given the time she needs to grow! she’s just killed off with 0 compassion......... and it’s such... a sad and unsatisfying development... like there’s a difference between “letting the past die” and killing your past traumatized self.... like if her past self deserves to die and isnt worthy of compassion then that just goes against our nebula’s entire existence? she is the person she is in the present bc she was shown compassion and was allowed to grow! why is this nebula not deserving of that? it’s literally just bc it’s inconvenient to everyone else... thats awful.

then there’s gamora...... like she finds out about this future in which thanos succeeds in his plan and........... she fucking WAITS???? SHE WAITS TO STOP HIM??? IM SORRY BUT WHHHAAAAT THE FUCK??????

like!!! this is literally around the time in our timeline when gamora enacts her plan to ditch thanos and steal the power stone for herself as soon as she finds out that he’s found it’s location in order to stop it from getting into his hands. you’re telling me that gamora waits A LONG SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME after thanos gets all the information he needs to get not just the power stone but ALL THE OTHER INFINITY STONES before attempting to stop him?? YOURE ASKING ME TO BELIEVE THAT?? THAT SHE WOULDNT IMMEDIATELY OR AT LEAST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TRY TO STOP HIM?

like if i remember correctly, by the time she teams up with future nebula to try to stop thanos, he’s already made significant progress in formulating/enacting his plan to get all the infinity stones..... like she doesnt try to sabotage/steal the information re:time travel in order to keep thanos away from the stones??? it doesnt make sense. it does not make sense that she would wait i cant get over it what the fuck alsooo...... while im glad that gamora isn’t just Dead now and that there’s an alive gamora out and about.... it Upsets me deeply that this isnt our gamora lmao. and this isnt just me being unnecessarily sentimental. it just sucks storytelling wise. gamora underwent so much development from the 1st gotg up to infinity war...... and now all of that is all Gone bc new gamora didn’t experience ANY of that! like saying her development was retconned maybe isn’t exactly true bc all of that development still happened and is Canon but... it’s basically all irrelevant now bc! again! this gamora didnt go through any of it! when peter and gamora reunite in infinity war and peter is emotional and gamora is like What the Fuck? like ha ha yeah funny but...... peter and gamora are very important to each other. theyve been through a lot together. whether or not you like their romance is whatever but them telling each other “i love you” in infinity war was such a HUGH DEAL considering everything they went through as individuals..... and now that development is Gone. and it sucks.

rly i felt all the female characters in endgame got the short end of the stick in this movie :/ like sure theres that One Group Shot... and sure it made whiny men cry so that’s great... it’s cool but like it felt so shallow to me! the bare minimum! very few of the women in that scene actually significantly contributed to the plot of endgame.... like it’s So Easy to put all these women in one shot but it’s a whole other thing entirely to give those women actual Roles in the plot. they even fridged another women in the Literal Exact Same Way they did in infinity war! the exact same way! like the 1st time they did it was unnecessary and unjustifiable to me and then they really went and did it again exactly the same! ALRIGHT! COOL I GUESS!

also captain marvel was so hyped up as being the Key to defeating thanos but the film comes out and i dont think she’s even in it for like 5 minutes total screentime. i mean i wont lie. seeing her fight thanos no problem was really really cool and i loved it but then it lasted what? 10 seconds?

idk it’s just. rly rly easy to give superficial nods to the strength of these women and while, yes, it bothers whiny man babies and isnt harmful... it’s still superficial <:/ like these are just tiny itty bitty baby steps. it’s 2019 please allow female characters to play larger more significant roles in stories..... alluding to their strength is not the same thing as that. hire female writers.

overall i didnt have a Bad Time watching this movie? i actually laughed plenty. all the scenes with scott are wonderful. but overall the movie was just... fine... and left me feeling empty and indifferent like a lot of other mcu films leave me feeling <:) despite it’s faults i enjoyed iw a lot better and so endgame felt anticlimactic to me which is yknow. bad. considering it’s supposed to be a big finale.

sorry to be a big ol No Fun Allowed boy but i mean. the thing that i find so attractive about these films is Character! like ive only rly enjoyed a handful of mcu films but the reason i keep coming to watch the new ones is bc the idea of these characters is so attractive to me! this expansive superhero universe gives a big opportunity to explore a whole bunch of different characters and a whole bunch of different character dynamics. and while for the most part the mcu is good at producing distinct, conceptually interesting characters.... theyre generally not very good at utilizing them and building them up... which is why they leave me feeling empty

ok my early morning post premiere hot take (spoilers keep scrolling)

- liiiike ok. not nightmare ending but not what i would call g00d

- they fucked around w/ rose’s and poe’s character in ways that were like nonsensical and heavy handed and Bad Writing

- the subplots were definitely shaky and the new characters (besides rose) felt rushed and almost totally unnecessary

- the tension/conflict between laura dern’s char and poe’s was completely pointless. like 100%. it made poe look like a misogynistic idiot (which he isnt, he respects and platonically loves women), but also laura dern wasn’t developed enough for any of us to care about her? like i wanted poe to win the mutiny? why didnt she just tell him the plan earlier? it didnt make any sense

- the comedic timing was fuuuucked like really bad, they added humor in places that should have been either deeply emotional or at least dramatic which wildly threw off the mood

- LUKE and REY did NOT have enough forgiveness + loving interaction, they barely had any interaction that wasn’t like straight up cold. they both came to their Final Realization seperately, apart from each other, and then didnt even communicate afterwards which felt so WRONG esp bc this movie was advertised w/ rey and luke’s relationship being the heart of it

- that was like maybe the worst yoda yet, also bad scene what did it even accomplish

- there were like 3 shots of alien titties men are literally not allowed to direct anymore

- the milking scene

- but overallllll like the main plot was i think 60% good

- the last fight scene was one of the most visually stunning things I’ve ever seen in a movie

- the rey/kylo dynamic actually went down better than i thought it was. i mean, the whole underlying thing of like Sympathizing With Nazis was garbáge, but if it had to go down that route than at least the fact that it ended with him not being redeemd, and that rey was confused + misguided + being manipulated throughout it all was........ decent? but also the whole thing was done to drive a wedge between luke and rey which wasnt needed to that extent. why would rey sypathize w/ kylo over luke???? he put her best friend in a coma and killed her father figure LIKE i get that she could try to bring him back from the light, fine, but it didnt make sense to write that choice as the one that polarized her and luke. altenatively and preferably they could have gone down a whole different path but i will take my scraps, at least kylo isnt redeemed

- like i think its totally valid to have seen luke depressed and jaded and traumatized in the beginning, but he definitely should have warmed up and helped (and learned from!) rey. he was so so so far ooc

- “are you here to save me?” “no” fucked it all the way up my gay father that scene was bomb

- i wasnt moved to tears as much as i should have been which i think was bc ryan jacobson keep putting dumbass jokes all over the place and fucking around with characters, but i was def deeply touched by some leia/luke scenes (not enough not enough)

- ngl i do think the leia flying through space was moving, but a bit cheesey :/ i wont critique it too much bc like the purpose and sentiment of it I am 300% down with, it just felt like there could have been a more poignant way to do it

- conclusion: not nightmare ending, but like it def needs 2 do better (aka just needed to have a lesbian director and writer)

a... Baba Analysis (smh)

I JUST!!! LOVE THE BOY and I’m saving your life by putting it under the cut :U

I think the reason I’m just so attached to Baba as a character, is bc I look at his past and GENUINELY feel like he deserves the world and more. I think i get so frustrated when someone is like “he’s a flirt and too casual with women’s feelings” because its just??? such an oversimplification of him as a character.

like, yeah, okay he’s a flirt. he flirts with women because he’s found a perfect way to keep every situation he’s in very light and keep people at a distance in which he’s comfortable. if he happens to flirt with a woman who flirts back and shows physical interest, in his mind he thinks he has to date her. otherwise, she’ll be hurt.

baba literally fears hurting women directly. he wont break up with a woman because then, she feels like theres something that she did wrong/theres something wrong with her. however, if she breaks it off, she is in a position where she’s in control of the whole situation and while she may still feel hurt, it isnt nearly as bad as it would be if he broke it off first (remember this is Baba Logic). the reason Baba fears hurting women so much, is that he literally *spoiler* left the first girl he fell in love with (whom he planned to marry!) completely alone. */spoiler* and this has plagued him for years. you actually get to see him lose his composure for the first time when that particular part of his past comes face-to-face with him.

now to something that I feel played a massive part of why baba is the way he is as an adult. Baba keeps things light, happy, and very goofy because there is a very dark part of his past that the more I think about, im surprised its part of a voltage game (though the premise of the game itself is pretty insane, but hear me out). When Baba was younger, he lived in an orphanage. At first I was like, thats sad but kind of a regular Sad Boy™ backstory. Baba was finally adopted, along with some of the other kids, his friends, but instead of going to a happy home, he was used as a slave on a farm. Like, Baba was legitimately a slave as a child. This blew my mind when I read it at first. He’s thankfully saved by the Original Lupin and the rest is history, i guess. But this kind of explains why Baba is so goofy and somewhat childish at times. Baba was robbed of his childhood. He didn’t have parents to teach him much of anything, and after he was adopted, he didn’t have any personal freedoms.

I guess what I like about Baba most is that he came out of the past experiences he had, not as an edgy broody asshole (which I would understand tbh) but he’s just a funny dude that flirts, makes jokes and helps his weird “friends”.

my thoughts of endgame

i watched endgame last night, and i thought it was a great movie. i loved it. i had no problems with anything, but looking back, i realize there are plenty of problems. a month ago, i went on a three-week binge to watch almost all the mcu movies, and thats how i got up to speed. i never really had these characters for a long time. i never really went on to solidfy their personalities/goals/characters in my head, or to fear whether marvel would butcher their characterizations or not. im not an old fan, but now i realize that for those who have been around for a long time, the job of endgame as the culmination of the 11-year arc may have felt wrong. but as for me, i quite liked the movie. there are some valid criticisms that others have mentioned, however, that i agree with.

this will be the only post i make abt endgame for now. i wont reblog anything either.

cons:

natasha’s death felt insignificant. she didn’t even get a funeral, barely any words spoken in honor for her except banner flinging a bench into a lake. i originally thought it would be better if she was sacrificed rather than clint because he had a family, but looking at all those years clint was ronin, maybe it was better for clint to atone by sacrificing himself for his family and everyone else. natasha deserved better. her own funeral, at least.

the hulk-banner fusion that bruce so proudly proclaimed that he accomplished is just glossed over, despite the conflict between them being pretty damn important, especially in infinity war when hulk refused to cooperate. i want to see that in depth.

w-where’s vision op...i mean technically he died before the snap because wanda obliterated the stone in his head but...not even a mention?

loki said pretty much nothing...thor never mentions him in the present, either. he was a great, important character and i wish he’d get more recognitionn

when steve went back in time and stayed with peggy...the dance scene is super sweet, but i felt like with steve’s “self-righteousness, heroic, self-sacrifice” act, maybe it wasnt the best end for him, letting him sit it out while hydra thrived and destroyed. UNLESS, steve returned the stones, said hi to peggy, then went to kick hydra’s ass and save bucky, then went back to peggy and lived a full life with both of them, which is what i will pretend happened.

tony...why did they give him a daughter if they were gonna kiLL HIM sOB

carol and nick’s relationship, which is the whole reason carol even appears, is neglected. its not even mentioned. fury isnt mentioned. he just appears at tony’s funeral at the end.

time travel is always a confusing thing to write, but ...how does the quantam realm achieve it exactly?? if five hours in the quantam realm is five years in real life, that doesnt mean theres a way to suddenly turn back time?? idk man

also i feel like they caused 5000 paradoxes. thor taking past mjolnir? nebula killing her past self? gamora meeting quill before the events of gotg? whats going on

i feel like there was a better time to take the soul stone but then again no one knew abt the sacrifice part so...nat :(

valkyrie as the new king of new asgard!! yes i love her!!

thor joining the (as)guardians is so funny and hopefully he shows up in gotg3 because i’d love to see that...even i can see that thor’s character has changed (new directors, probably), going from the fearsome shakespearean god of thunder to the laidback and comedic hero of midgard. he fits in pretty well with gotg’s ensemble, as such, so it’ll be great to see their interactions in further depth.

but (and this is a con but i’ll put it here anyway bc continuity) thor’s trauma and ptsd is handled with comedic effect, to soften a blow that the movie would later deal, but i feel like it also lessens the enormity of what he’s lost and how devestated he is. it’s funny, but pretty insensitive.

thor and steve are BOTH worthy enough to pick up mjolnir and i love that

when thor chopped off thanos’ head not even an hour into the movie the whole theater was like “welp its over time to go home” dkjshkjfhsdjkfhs

peter and tony’s reunion!! peter just blabbering and tony gives him a huge hug and peter’s just like “...this is nice”

god when shuri ramonda and tchalla walk through strange’s portal i literally dieD

1. ngl RS making sure H/H/D arent sisters is kinda gross? theyre such an unvalued relationship to begin with and her ripping it apart because god forbid the women have intact family relationships is just too much i guess? i just dont get why all the men get to have all the power and family and friends while the women are left with the scraps at best. how is that ok? how is that "feminist"? how is this "empowering"? it seems like a male written fantasy over a "feminist reclaiming" as rachel says.

2. tbh im under the impression the "apollo is trying to overthrow zeus" plotline was thrown in bc she saw how many people said it wouldnt make sense for apollo to get more punishment for his crimes when persephone literally killed countless people and could get off scot-free so rachel just slapped that in like aha see apollo is evil! hes trying to start a coup! now he deserves more punishment! which is like ok? but this is an obvs anti zeus story too? why should we care? it wont happen anyway?

3. rachel smythe / not keeping her world-building/lore even remotely consistent or logical - name a more iconic duo.

FP stuff: the fact its only been two weeks/maybe three weeks and persephone only sees value in her relationship in hades and it only fighting to keep that going instead of anything else she might actually want (education, freedom, etc) is a huge red flag. it's not romantic, it shows a deeply scared child who is dependent on him and that's not healthy. even her therapy isnt to help herself, its to make sure she's "worthy" to hades. this isnt romantic, its toxic. This is just sad over empowering.
