Crimson covered the roses of the bushes in the courtyard

However, it wasn't the normal vibrant, ruby coloured paint that adorned the petals

It was the scarlet that splattered from his injuries that dripped from the blossoms

His chest heaved as he lay on the ground, blood spilling from his injuries

The green of the grass too was tainted by the bloodshed, the puddle around him slowly growing in size

The onlookers stared on in horror, as the prefect of Ramshackle lay bleeding in the middle of the rose maze

The rose bushes Riddle had uprooted lay around his wounded lover

He'd intended to crush Ace with them only for his significant other to intercept

The jagged branches and splintered wood had pierced his skin, branches impaling his limbs in several places

Small fragments of wood stuck out of his flesh

The stones that had gotten thrown into the mix marred him as well

Trey and Cater immediately panicked as the prefect wheezed painfully from the ground

Ace, Deuce, and Grim moved to form a defensive barrier between Riddle and the injured party on the ground

Meanwhile, Trey called his name

A feeble attempt to get him to focus on something, anything so that he didn't lose consciousness

And Cater had run off to seek aid from Crowley who was evacuating the other students

Riddle had failed to stop the blow before it landed

He glared angrily at the 3 students that blocked his view from his lover

He hadn't meant for his partner to take the blow in Ace's stead

Guilt swirled around in his chest with his rage

The searing pain of his fury burned like fire

He advanced on them, wanting to see that state of his other half, who looked on at the scene in disoriented, half-conscious worry

"Step aside."

His voice was cold and venomous and the battered bushes once more rose from the ground

However, the trio stood strong in their defensive line, ready to fight if they needed as the vice dorm leader did what he could to staunch the Prefect's bleeding

Riddle narrowed his eyes, their poor attempt at fending him off only serving to infuriate him all over again

He briefly met his lovers eyes as he forced himself to sit up, gaze filled with desperation

His expression cried don't do this but it was too late now

The boys raised their pens and the fighting commenced

Burning, blistering pain

The magicless prefect yelled out, the excruciating searing of his skin cracking almost sent him to his knees

His mouth was too dry to swallow

His eyes were too dry to shed tears

He found it difficult to speak

Leona's grip on the prefect was like iron, as taunting remarks left his mouth

He did not look at who he had in his grip

Instead, he stared at the onlookers from the other dorms in a rage

Leona laughed at the pitiful sight

His lover had pulled Ruggie out of the way and taken his place

He was clawing at Leona's hands with a broken, raspy plea

Leona found it distastefully amusing that his lover had chosen a Hyena over him

His face fell

His lover not taking his side only served to prove his point further, but behind the bright green of his irises, in the midst of his bitterness was regret

Jack had used his signature spell and snapped his jaws furiously at Leona

Riddle used the moment of distraction to collar the angry Lion

The prefect fell to the ground, wheezing painfully

The cracks in his skin had climbed to his face, stopping directly under his cheekbone

The tips of his fingers had began to crumble but ceased as soon as Leona had dropped him

As Sebek and Silver were told to assist the injured, they moved to get the Prefect to safety

Meanwhile, Riddle tried to talk him down, but Lilia's taunting only served to make him snap

Riddle's collar broke as Leona finally overblotted and Lilia had vanished to get the staff

Glowing emerald eyes shifted towards the two Diasommnia students that were holding his lover

They took away his chances at winning and now they're trying to take his significant other away too

Unacceptable

He growled loudly, bearing his teeth in a snarl

"Drop 'em before I turn you both to sand."

Jack and Ruggie stood in front of him

And the Heartslabyul students formed a line behind the two Savannaclaw members

Leona scoffed, once more taunting them as he moved to push past them all

He let out an irritated laugh when they did not let him

His eyes locked with his lover's briefly

The look of hurt, exhaustion, and worry made Leona's fingers twitch

And finally his rage skyrocketed when Sebek and Silver pulled the prefect out of view

Looks of anger crossed all the boys' faces as they stared down the lion im front of them

He scoffed at their meager attempt at intimation but squared up nonetheless

If it's a fight they want, it's a fight they'll get
