Anime Fandoms and Their Corresponding Denomination
Every Christian is just a fandom rat like the rest of us.
This was too fucking funny I need everyone to see it. My husband and I are stuck in the car and matched Christian denominations to their Anime fandoms. Because that’s what religion is anyway, right?
Let’s start with the big ones:
Dragon Ball - Catholics
they think they’re the OGs, the fandom gatekeepers, polarizing and unwelcoming to anyone not already born into their fandom
One Piece - Protestants
the defectors, they’re convinced they’re the real true fandom. Moral superiority because they’re marginally better than their predecessors
Naruto - Pentecostals
Loud. Constantly trying to convince the other denominations that they’re one of the Big 3. They’ve got plenty of content but they’re too cringe and unwilling to acknowledge they haven’t paid they’re dues yet.
Some more specific denominations:
Yu-Gi-Oh - Evangelicals
Younger guy on the scene, constantly changing and repackaging their tropes but never saying anything new.
Fairytale - Lutherans
They’ve not done anything to me personally, but there’s something not right with this congregation. Some of them are chill but they’ve got a silent majority of weirdos that take things way too seriously
Pokémon - Baptists
More accesible bar to entry but you will get a harsh slap of reality when you notice how toxic the fanboys get.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Orthodoxies
The quiet OGs, too cool to let new fans in. Even if you try, you don’t get it and you’ll never truly be in the know.
My Hero Academia - Hillsong, Mega-Churchers
They got a taste of mainstream acceptance and capitalized off of it. All the cool kids go to baby’s-first-church and get their nut being part of the pretty, shiny Christianity. Peel off the first layer and they are gatekeeping as bad as the OGs.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures - Methodists
Hello LGBT’s. They’ve always been here, no one’s got beef with this fandom. You can sit with us energy.
And since I’ve already gotcha:
Cowboy Bebop - Quakers
Leave them be, they’re just enjoying their thing. They’re not bringing any dogs to this fight.
Avatar the Last Airbender - Mormons
The singularly American denomination. No one else really acknowledges them, even though they want to be part of the fandom space so bad. Don’t realize you can’t have your cake (mainstream and safe backed by Nickelodeon) and eat it too (accepted in the anime fandom at large, even if they have quiet, individual support)
Code Lyoko - Scientologists
You don’t even go here. You had some cool ideas and wild lore but you are literally not allowed to sit with the other fandoms
Sword Art Online - Heaven’s Gate Cult
I don’t think I need to explain this one. IYKYK

Hello!!
The crack post saga continues... =D
Warning: long, long post 😊😅
To be very honest though, for today's ep I will be getting serious more than usual, because it was quite significant in the flow of the plot, and also had moments of communication (this emotional constipation is what makes me yearn for Cherry Magic ah) that need to be studied a little closely.
HOWEVER, there will most definitely be crack because this group of friends is (unapologetically) batshit crazy and my brain refuses to not make comments at the most inappropriate times.
Peem: NO ONE SAW ME CUDDLING MY CRUSH TO SLEEP RIGHT?!
The sheer panic in his movements, oh my gods. It should not be as hilarious as it is 😭😂
To be very honest though, I would've panicked a bit in his place too, with friends like those, they'd never let him live it down
Peem is so cute 😭
Nothing to see here, just a guy getting shy over how his prince charming hom-ed him, and they kissed through his hand and cuddled all night hehe

See, in this camp, almost all of them are paired up in the sense that they usually stick to that person. Even Beer has MIck. But then comes wild card Kluen, who's hogging all of Peem's attention as much as he can and that leaves Phum. Alone.
I will be getting back to this running motif of Phum being alone and how it changes through the ep in later scenes as well
Also, after they went back, both Mick and Beer asked if he really was okay, which made me smile, because maybe, Phum isn't as alone as he thinks himself to be. There are people who care for him, who are concerned, who'll support him, and of course, he always has Fang, his beloved phi

Also, notice how the shot is taken in such a way that they're the only ones in the frame, and are also standing within one specific part of the wall? (Ignore Kluen's head and hands please). It reflects how they're in their own world with each other, especially Tan

Jokes aside, the synchronised strides, the background music together set the perfect levels of suspense and comedy

This scene was so, so beautiful and also quite important for both Q and Toey
Q knew what was up, more or less, but his confusion stemmed from his knowledge of Toey

"Why? Are you the only one who can tease me?" <- Q says this to tell Toey that he might have been angry, but now he understands that Toey didn't really have any bad intentions
Hugs always get bonus points from me, and this was pretty up there

Matt's (JJ) comedic timing is >>>>>>
Toey and Matt's friendship is also given weight in the series, and I'm happier for it.

This scene.
The apology. It is at this point that they're leaving all the past pain, grief and anger in the past
Q makes sure to tell Toey that yes, he may have loved Milk Frappe Boy, but now, in the present, all his love was for Toey, his lovable annoying mentee
This apology is not only to Toey, or Milk Frappe Boy, but to himself as well, because by causing pain to a person he loves twice, he'd caused himself pain too
The perfect sweet and romantic moment, but also with a teeny bit of teasing, because that's who they are
No joke, I gasped and nearly stopped breathing when he said this
Peem's reply, his soft but kind of hurt voice were just so painful to hear
But it's also this moment that Peem gives Phum a reality check – if he really didn't want to, he wouldn't be doing any of this, and Phum had no business trying to control his life
The conversation outside with Q was significant, but also a diluted reflection of Peem's earlier (in ep. 7) talk with Q
Even a few episodes earlier, Q would have gone ballistic on Phum for treating his bestie like this, but now, he asks Peem how he feels for Phum, tries to understand exactly what their relationship is
It was at this point that he knew, he fucked up
Beer is a godsent. I love him <3
I think Toey says "I asked hia Tan to blow it up for me."
Also, Tiw and his rubber duck floater from MSP anyone? 👀
And, we are back to square one where Phum is left alone again
As I'd said before, this a repeating motif throughout the series, but especially the last two episodes
This is how it has always been in Phum's life: he has been left behind. He does have Fang, but now even Fang has a boyfriend. And while this does not affect his brother's affection towards him in anyway, it does introduce a new strand of lonliness for Phum because 1. no matter what, he loves his brother a lot, and knows how much he loves Tan, so he definitely will try to stay out of their way at least sometimes and 2. he wants a boyfriend too. Further, he wants Peem, but there's a push and pull there, and after what he said, in his mind he had pretty much ruined his chances with his crush
This is the moment Phum starts to hope that maybe, just maybe, his feelings aren't as unrequited as he'd thought.
On the other hand, Peem is the one afraid here. What if the deal is all that's holding them together? What if without it, Phum will have no reason to be as close to him?
Peem, baby, for one, your groups are already merged, and secondly, this guy is head over heels for you, no way he'd stop following you like a lost puppy
(Apparently, it's not Peem's turn with the communal braincell this week 😭)
Here, Phum is technically alone, but he's surrounded with friends, and he's smiling
He isn't left behind here, for once, he's sitting there by choice (to shamelessly ogle his crush, but shh we don't talk about that) with the comforting knowledge that when/if he jumps in, he won't be left out, Kluen be damned
Once the floodgates of affection have been opened to Q, there's no going back <3
(Also, notice how Tan is already asleep on Fang's shoulder? 👀)
FINALLY
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT SINCE PEEM KICKED PHUM'S BALLS
Jokes apart, this moment is so, so beautiful. The kiss, the soft question "are you ready for my answer now?" (maybe Peem isn't, but hell if he denies this man his kissies).
Everything leading up to this point is also so very delightful
Phum helping them out in the cafe, despite probably having never worked a day in his life, discovering how Peem still kept the roses and finally, finally, the completed painting. This sight, above all, is what convinces Phum that Peem might have feelings for him after all; because which fool would lie about not having completed something that would free them from being a slave to someone? A fool in love, that's who
ALSO,
if they don't get together and have the fluffiest moments in the next ep, I swear to god, hands will be thrown *grumbles* they're already making me wait a whole damn week

big believer in keiko and kuwabara being besties like. you're my best friend's best friend and instead of it being awkward they realize "hey i really like hanging out with you!" this is ofc extremely detrimental to yusuke who now has two people on his ass
they share textbooks keiko quizzes kuwabara til he drops and she asks for fitness advice. why do i think this? I simply think it'd be funny asf if Keiko randomly got abs of steel. yusuke walks in on them doing sit ups while testing each other on vocab and almost breaks into tears.
"Keiko stop turning kuwabara into a fucking nerd he's wasting all his time studying instead of goofing off" "yusuke shut up and feel my abs" "holy shit these guys are like rock hard" "right??"
Kuwabara gets glasses and yusuke genuinely thinks it's a bit at first but kuwa is like "man seriously I realized part of the reason school was hard was cos I couldn't make out the words in my books half the time I need these things fr" classic yyh collapse in shock moment
Keiko and Kuwa are there for each other when yusuke goes off doing god knows what in Makai. They know he'll be back but it can be shitty not knowing what he's doing when he'll be back. Kuwabara reassures her that Yusuke does give a shit even when he leaves and Keiko reminds Kuwabara of why he doesn't need to drop everything and join him. He'll be back he'll be back he'll be back.
Kuwabara can only make simple meals Shizuru forced him to learn and Keiko doesn't really cook even tho her parents own a restaurant so when yusuke is in the human world there's cheers and applause "finally I get to eat 🙏🏼" "aren't you guys graduating college soon how are you surviving when I'm not here" "get back in the kitchen boy" "yeah I need another bowl 😌" "im poisoning ur food"
because girls and guys apparently can't just hang out school mates are sure Keiko is dating kuwabara but some think she's with yusuke and others think the two are fighting over her and she just looks at them like they're stupid if anyone ever asks directly
as for Kuwabara nobody knows whether he has a gf or a bf cos sometimes a polite brunette with a sweet smile visits him on campus and they talk at a picnic table (she's seen hitting him sometimes tho) but other times a guy with slicked back hair and devil may care attitude like. swaggers up to kuwa when he's with some classmates and drops a homemade lunch in his lap "you forgot this dumbass" "ahh thanks yusuke you're a life saver 🥺" "just eat your food" inside is the cutest box lunch and yusuke's glare keeps the people kuwa was with from cracking jokes. kuwabara acts like this is very normal
anyway i just think it'd be cool if they hung out and yusuke was equal parts delighted and grumpy about it

Of course 🥺 I wanted to do my part.
It's not hard to see how gifmakers have been suffering from the lack of reblogs. I've been on this site for years but I never properly engaged (or understood how things worked) until a little over a year ago. I used to be one of those people who liked posts but didn't reblog them and then when I found out how important reblogs were and how demotivated gifmakers (and writers and artists) would get without them, I did my best to change my habits. I want to encourage people to keep doing what they love and I try to leave nice comments in my tags as well.
I've also been teaching myself to make gifs and doing so has made me appreciate gifmakers even more and how much time and effort goes into gifmaking.
Gifmakers really are awesome and you're all sharing your beautiful creations with us for free. I don't think it's asking too much for people to reblog them and I hope we do see a positive change in the like to reblog ratios.
Lastly I would like to thank YOU for being a gifmaker! I love seeing your gifs (especially the Octavia Blake ones 😌🙌) and I hope you never lose all the joy in gifmaking 🌷

Hehe thank you I’m enjoying it! It used to be one of my favorite shows to put on when I had to count a comfort show on and get work done (well that and bluey 👉🏼👈🏼🥺) I actually pay for a Hulu/Spotify subscription together so I save a bit on it, I think it’s like 9.99 a month for both together😍🙏🏼 and it may still be on my old student account price I think!

I just finished Rak Diao, which I only started because of your post and wow!
Like, the first episode is really hard. I was joking about those laughing tracks even to friends, who had no idea about thai shows to begin with, but all jokes aside, it was really hard in the beginning 😭😭
But once it got better? Once I got used to what was still there? It was so much fun! (I almost triggered an asthma attack from laughing too hard)
And it left me wanting more of this mixture of really fun and also nice and sweet. I have so many thoughts! One of them tho is that the end was... One of the most disappointing ones I've ever seen. Is there somewhere more? Another episode? Another season? Some secret somewhere? 🥺
And Rak's love! Not to Diao, but everyone. His way of showing love and how he was ready to give it at all times 🥺🥺🥺 What an amazing character!
When I started the show I expected to be embarrassed for the stuff Diao does but instead I was embarrassed for Rak 😂💕
Anyways, thanks for sharing the good stuff! I've literally never heard of it before and just blindly trusted you 🙏🏼😌
awww, this makes me so happy to read! honestly I'm so used to thai dramas' ridiculousness that I don't even realize that some things might be a bit hard to get through at first, or the cringe might be too much lol, so thanks for pointing that out! as for the end, have you watched ep 15 that's not on dramacool but only kissasian? personally I found the ending quite abrupt too, but I'm hoping it means we get a second season bc there's still so much potential to explore & the show was pretty popular here in thailand! so anyways, thanks for blindly trusting me, it means a lot tbh ;_; <3 glad you still enjoyed the show!
