Would you mind sharing some advice on how to write a smug and very killable antagonist?

oh man wish i could easily articulate that but its less that i intentionally wrote that and more that it just happened dfnfdjkfd

explain, don't justify. when character makes an awful decision readers should go "hm. i see how you came to that. i just dont respect it" or "THATS WHAT I THOUGHT YOUD SAY YOU DUMB FUCKING HORSE"

making a very "extra" or "smug" type of character may make it feel like they're breaking character sometimes but in my honest opinion there is no such thing as OOC (out of character) behavior. humans are complicated and sometimes we react unusually be it putting on a show for a joke or to be intimidating or whatever. there can be however an overuse of those "OOC" moments where if it happens too often you should consider if maybe you shouldn't switch up what the basic personality of this character is supposed to be (for example before i started writing abomination magenta used to be super chaotic and not that deep of a character, to try to tell a more coherent story where the character isnt behaving too much on the nose i had to contain him a little. but as you see he is still quite a rascal, he's just gained more seriousness, he can be a smug asshole but not all the time, sometimes he forces that behavior through a serious situation to show him trying to put on a mask etc etc)

decide how realistic you want your characters to be. if they are supposed to be very realistic then they should be toned down considerably, not to be straight up boring but if a character is too over the top in a supposedly realistic setup then that can be pretty jarring. my setup is not very realistic so it gave me more space to make my characters more exaggerated, especially their cartoon world versions because it even makes sense to say they are more exaggerated versions of their real counterparts as their personalities undergo the cartoonifying process :) thats why real magenta and story magenta are quite different characters personality wise

So I’m watching the hospital horse give his SOTU speech and the two things that stick out to me are:

His tie is hella crooked

And he has this weird bald spot on the left side of the back of his head which you can’t really see in this picture because the lighting of the photo is shit lol. I tried several times to get a good pic of it but failed miserably every time lol.
