Fave Sprites in each AA Game: JFA

(Spoilers for Justice For All)

Here we are at the second game because I'm bored as hell so I'm making it now.

(I don't think I even mentioned this in the last post, but the reason why I'm even doing this is because it's fun and also a good way to analyze and get better at art. I love Ace Attorney art, and want my style to get better so here I am.)

Animation 1:

Ini Miney! One of my favorite characters in the whole series! Definitely in my top three culprits. While her "serious" animations are also pretty good, I love her goofy and silly persona a lot better. This animation reminds me of Fran Sawhit's idle animation in 1-1, except it's now filled with charm and joy. God, I love Ini Miney and how funny she is. Most of her animations are bangers, but this is definitely my favorite.

Animation 2:

Matt Engarde; a fan favorite. It was hard to decide which of his animations was the best, but I think this animation works the best. Here's the thing: Before the big reveal, Matt is meant to be a helpless actor that got roped into a huge mess. He has rely on his manager, and he's completely helpless without her. This animation is amazing at portraying that. While I had had the twist spoiled for me (it's very hard to avoid these things nowadays) this was one of the animations that made me doubt myself and give Matt the benefit of the doubt. It's very effective at portraying what a bumbling mess he pretends to be.

Animation 3:

And here is when we finally get to see him as the real mess he is. He is no longer pretending to be helpless, now he truly is. Matt has gotten himself into a corner that he can't back out of. I love so many of the details in this sprite: The eyes rapidly going from side to side, the hair constantly falling in front of his face, him leaning slowly forward as if he was about to fall, the sweat... It's incredible. I love these games so much.

Animation 4:

Here's this game prosecutor: The perfect Franziska Von Karma. Overall, this batch of animations might be a little biased; all of these characters are my favorites, including the last sprite which you'll see in a bit (I'm actually not that big on Matt, but the women rock). Franziska's cockiness is on full display in this courtroom animation; Her bowing (which mirrors Edgeworth's bowing in the first game), her confident smile, her small bobbing motion... She's an egotistical perfectionist molded the same way as her father. I just wish that so many of her animations weren't just her whipping (I think it's the weakest aspect of her character, and often reduces her to a caricature) so I love when she's allowed to show her personality in a different way.

Animation 5:

(Uh, sorry for how inconsistent this gif is compared to the rest, but I couldn't find her DS sprite, only the HD trilogy version.)

Anyways, let's get to it: Adrian Andrews is definitely one of my favorite characters (I know this is getting kind of redundant, sorry) and most of her sprites are excellent. This animation in particular is really good, and I remember just sitting and staring at it when it appeared as I was playing. The card flipping is so smooth, and the distracted expression she has on her face is fascinating. It's great characterization on how much she's trying to distance herself from the situation as she tries to keep a calm facade. The card being DeKiller's is also very sick and comes back later as the end-of-game reward.

Overall I'd say that from a character-design standpoint, Justice For All might be the most mixed bag out of the whole series. It's got so many incredible designs that I could stare at for hours, but then it also has Hotti and Trilo (I also don't really like Max's design. I tend to switch back and forth on that one, but for the most part I think it's just a little too much.) Anyways, see you soon for the next one.

Noctis: Sigh...

Noctis: Fufu! Relax. I'm just kidding.

Ayato: You...

Subaru: Heh, you got bested by that alcoholic. How lame.

Reiji: Sigh... Quiet. All of you.

Disclaimer: Noctis did not burn the wolves. She used the fire to intimidate them to create a safety distance between them without causing harm. The same scenario plays out in the Mukami version, but the small Sakamaki script I wrote was funnier ｡:+((*´艸`))+:｡

This is just a piece of what happened in her prologue. I loved the idea of Noctis spitting fire via alcohol as a means of self-defense and wanted to show it off as a cg! Now you know why the meme categorized her as "cause of mansion fire".

Poll answer: This time, her anger is directed at Shin and Carla. While Ayato and Noctis seem like they don't get along, they're actually friends (although they're too stubborn to admit it.) They always poke fun at each other.

THIS WAS SO HARD TO PULL OFF IN SATOI'S STYLE AAAAAAAAAA

30 Ace Attorney Headcanons!

Someone said that Kristoph is one of their fav AA villains and one of their fav characters. I'M GONNA SHOWER THAT PERSON WITH KRISTOPH HEADCANONS, THIS PART HAS A LOT OF KRISTOPH HEADCANONS-

1. Kristoph genuinely believes he never killed anyone due to his mental state.

2. Kristoph's parents forced him to be perfect meanwhile they didn't force Klavier to do anything. That built extreme jealousy in Kristoph which is why he wanted to make Phoenix lose his badge, he wanted to be the best lawyer with no one to compete with him.

3. Kristoph was a good brother, good lawyer and good mentor but due to the jealousy that was built inside him, he did all the horrible stuff he has done.

4. When Clay died, Apollo came to Kristoph for advice on how to cope with a close one dying. Hence his sprites resembling Kristoph WAY too much in AA5 Turnabout for Tomorrow.

5. Kristoph and Dahlia were good friends and partners in crime.

6. Kristoph knows the real identity of the phantom but he refuses to tell anyone. No matter what anyone does, he will not snitch.

7. This follows another headcanon that Kristoph and Klavier are half brothers by father. Kristoph's mother was actually a direct descendant of The Holy Mother and Ami Fey, Klavier's mother is not. So by that logic, Kristoph is related to Nahyuta.

ENOUGH OF KRISTOPH HEADCANONS!

8. Fulbright really was a secret agent and he worked for Interpol.

9. Fulbright is not dead but was disfigured by the phantom to the point where he became unrecognisable/unrecognizable.

10. Doug Swallow was inspired to become a psychologist because of Metis Cykes who was his psychologist.

11. Larry Butz and Solomon Starbuck are cousins.

12. Simon sees Apollo as a little brother to him.

13. The whole entire prosecutors' building was shocked upon hearing what Sebastian had to say about Blaise. They didn't know Blaise was THAT harsh.

14. Kay used to pull some really harsh pranks on Sebastian and make him cry. She stopped when they were 19.

15. Nobody at the prosecutors' building argues with, fights with or makes fun of Sebastian. They all treat him nicely and softly because the trauma from his father impacted him quite a lot.

16. Simon, Klavier and Sebastian were all neighbors/neighbours and they all quickly became really good friends. But then Simon moved to the space center with Aura, Klavier moved and Sebastian stayed there. They were all quite shocked upon seeing one another when they all became prosecutors. The 3 of them were immediately like: "WAIT, HE BECAME A PROSECUTOR?!"

17. Back in the day, revolutions were made against the queens of Khura'in because people believed that they were "witches". The Kura'in village also got raided multiple times with the head of the village always being killed.

18. Calisto Yew was also an international spy and she worked with the phantom most of the time.

19. The phantom helped with the smuggling ring.

20. After Clay's mother died, Metis treated him like her son.

21. Sebastian doesn't know who his mother is, so he just treats Justine as his mother and John as his little brother.

22. Franziska's mother was killed by Manfred.

23. Rayfa is actually really quick at math. You could ask her what 45x89 is and she would answer within 1-2.5 seconds, she is a human calculator and she got this trait from her father, Dhurke. She can also calculate the exact size, width and height of any object just by looking at it.

24. Ema and Lana were inspired to become detectives because they were huge fans of Sherlock Holmes [the dgs one Sherlock.].

25. Larry has tried hitting on Justine multiple times and every time, he would get hit by her gavel.

26. Miles always watches the show that was in The Inherited Turnabout to remember his father.

27. Miles did not understand any of Raymond's dirty jokes despite being 26-27.

28. Justine and Miles became really great friends.

29. Barok had a rare genetic mutation that caused him to be completely immune to getting sick. He cannot get sick no matter what happens. Franziska and Klavier/Kristoph have the same mutation.

30. Nahyuta and Apollo learned how to use swords and firearms at a young age. Apollo forgot how to use them since he hasn't used them in 10 years and Nahyuta is teaching him again.

This is a very interesting request anon but i really love this and lots of love to you too!!

This is gonna be very silly and nonsensical lol

Its very strange for Susanoo to not be in Heian-kyo and instead on an unknown place. Also why is it so incredibly hot too? What are those things on the road?

He's absolutely confused and has no idea what's going on around him. So he tries his very best to ask for help but he is actually on the middle of the road, and is almost run over by an suv who stops inches before hitting him.

So the driver (me) is quite obviously freaking the fuck out because driving isn't their favorite activity and they almost commit vehicular manslaughter.

They're screaming and Susanoo can't understand a thing and aa he tries to communicate with them they realize they can't understand him either.

Chaos ensues and the unfortunate person goes back to their car to get their phone and Susanoo follows them and somehow got in their car and looks like a confused and scared puppy. Its heartbreaking so they're like yeah I'm taking this dude home until i figure out what's going on.

Before heading home they assume that the guy must be hungry so they stop at a McDonald's and just buy him some nuggets and a sprite and when he took the first sip Susanoo almost freaked out, why was this spicy. Though he found the nuggets to be quite tasty and despite the language barrier he assumed that they were just trying to make sure he's okay

In the parking lot of the McDonald's they decided to communicate via google translate and despite it causing a few misunderstandings, Susanoo was able to know where he was and what year it was. Susanoo was surprised to end up somewhere across the globe.

The nice person also offered to drive him across the coast so he could enjoy the scenery and buy him any snacks and trinkets he wanted.

After a long day of this weird adventure, Susanoo fell asleep on the way back to the person's home and mysteriously returned to Heian-kyo. When he woke up he assumed it was just a strange dream but he still hoped to see that place again in the future.

While this is not really truth for all, a lot of Batman Rogues would be great Ace Attorney prosecutors because they just have the flashy outfits and easily adaptable gimmicks.

Harvey of course is the best example. He has a cool outfit, the duality theme would work great and the coin visuals!!! Also he IS a lawyer and I do believe that before becoming the D.A Harvey already was a prosecutor so it's basically cannon. Also he is the only one who can sorta fill the role of a prebiusly existent prossecutor as his connection with Bruce and internal turmoil fits Miles like a glove (slrly Miles could be Phoenix Two-Face in a Batman AU easily of course with redemption arc and shippy lens but still).

Selina has the perfect witness energy but she also fits a prossecutor really well with her way of twisting words and her whip (a fundamental instrument to any good prosecutor as demonstrated by my favorite characther Fransiska Von Karma herself). Also she would love to mess with Bruce just cause.

Riddler while not having a one to one parallel has the charm, the campy suit, the punny name (very important) and the personality to bolt. I can imagine him using the cane as part of his sprites either twirling it or pointing it menancingly or just pointing it slightly with a smirk. Also his gimmick would probably be answering everything with riddles and also just being really rude (a thing prossecutors excel).

Harley and Joker also fit. They work great as both witness and prossecutors. Specially Harley because she has a very trademark mallet and personal objects are really good to AA prosecutors specially if they can hurt the defense attorneys. Fransiska did whip Phoenix till he passed out on their first trial after all. Trowing cards is also a good gimmick. Joker would possibly laugh a lot. I think they would be a duo. Later Harley would either go solo or partner up with Ivvy.

Ivvy is actually perfect because she can be sympathetic with her enviromental reasons while still being really mean. On the other hand I don't know till what extend her gimmick would work so maybe having Harley as her co-concil for the zanny stuff would be good for both of them.

Bane with his luchador mask, maybe his muscles are bigger when he is winning the case and when he is losing they get lower as if he has less vennon in his boodstein?

That are just some of my ideas. But there is a huge relm of possibilities. And I didn't even got to the Batman as Defense Attorneys (or spirit channelings or magic girl sideckick or cop).

Life Updates w/ Mun Yu~

Just a note: I started writing this in March... So, yeah that is how crazy things have been for me.

I thought I would take a moment to do a good- ol'fashioned Blog Update. Since the new year started - and my resolution to post more isn't going too well - I thought it might be nice to just clear the air.

Brush off the non-productiveness of the past, and look forward! With that in mind, let's dive in! Everything will be under the cut - if updates aren't your thing, no biggie. Thanks for the support, and I'll post more content soon!

Mun Yu Updates

So, what's been up with me? What's the happs? Well - after four LONG years I am finally getting my Bachelor's Degree. For those that might be new - I am an older college student, having wasted my first chance of going.

Originally, it was only to go back to finish my AAS in Early Childhood Education. Once that was done, however, I found the job market to be less than ideal. That being the case, I transferred to another college and began working towards a BA in Human Resource management. And now - as I stand but 3 more weeks away from completing that degree...

I have been asked by the college to continue my education - and will be starting the next chapter of this crazy journey. Starting next August - I will be working towards getting my MLD (Master's in Leadership Development) & MBA (Master's in Business Administration). I cannot properly express how crazy the idea of that is to me - I was never great in school and now all this... I feel so blessed to have this experience.

That has been my major focus - and it's literally a full-time job. On top of my actual full-time job. I also got married last October, to my best friend of 12 years. As we both enter into our thirties - we are looking to bring in another member of the family soon enough. Not just yet - but soon.

Blog Now - What's Happening?

You know I wish there was more to post about. Truly I do. This blog is going to be 7 years old - and while it's come a long way, there isn't much to say right now.

I do have the L.E.M. art project continuing, we are officially on the last two boys. L.E.M. was such a huge accomplishment for me as a creator - even if it does exist outside of either canon. I enjoy going back and looking it over; just to see how far the blog has come.

TORMENTED REVERIE

Story-wise; super slowly I am working on publishing Yuuki's official story. My plan is to do each boy's route - complete with C.G.s (the first of which are done). Which will cover the month Yuuki was in the mansion before choosing Kanato.

After those routes are done, I want to make an overarching timeline post about where her story goes from there - then an epilogue just before Another Daydream. Those will also hopefully have art - which would be nice.

Yuki on the other hand - doesn't really have routes with the other boys. So I am wondering what the best way to tell his story is. I could just do it in sections and then break it into parts. I have seen OC blogs in the past do like diary/journal entries - which could be good for him honestly. Something like he was asked by Reinhart to keep a journal?

Yuki's storyline is one that I feel I have an idea of what I want, but I don't play with nearly enough like the others. So, that is definitely something I would love to work on in the new year. If you all are ever curious about him or the story - I am open for ask, they help me develop the story so much.

TORMENTED REVERIE: ANOTHER DAYDREAM

So, listen... these children got a lot of attention years ago. I don't feel so bad that they are getting ignored right now because of that. That being the case - I do have small things in the works for them. Nothing that is being developed at the moment though. My age old project Yukio in Wonderland is still something I want done, but I need a new artist for (and cant afford right now anyway). I do plan to work on getting sprites made for their older looks, mostly Yukio and Kanaye - Rini is set with what she has.

There is no official name for it - BUT - there is a sequel in the works for this time line. It follows Kanaye and Isabella (owned by @pureblood-prey) and their family / reign after taking over as King and Queen. With children of their own too - it's such a fun story that Mel and I have built over the years. Like I said though, no official name or release do that - but if you have any questions feel free to ask~!

EXCRUCIATING DUPLICITY

Ohh... this universe. I feel like it has so much going on, yet nothing all at the same time. There are a lot of OCs here, and I am trying to make them all cohesive with one another - the biggest part of that is that most of them have little to do with one another, which is kind of nice.

Skye's story is something I want to explore more. He has become such a presence on this blog - which I never thought possible. So thank you everyone for being so supportive of his chaotic a$$. I certainly never originally thought of his as Karlheniz partner - but I love where that plot is going.

Roselyn will probably never have a proper story, mostly because she is more of a background character. While she is there any around - having her own plot going on, it's not the focus, and we'll probably only see it in small doses. But you all ready know, if you want more Burai x Rose or just Rose content, all you gotta do is ask

Sweet baby Calli~ I know I have bit off so much with her story. Not only does she have two boys, which causes her story line to split - her family is super important to the natural order of the universe. It will probably be years upon years before I can properly give this story anything that it deserves. For now at least, Calli's story is the "Main Story" of the universe - where all others revolve around and have influences from or to the events in her plot.

And... really that is all I have right now. Seriously, I started this in March and nothing really changed since I started till now when I am finally publishing it.

Once summer rolls around, and I am not weighted down with school work, I will 100% be able to focus more on the blog and releasing content. Thank you for your continual patients and support - truly it means the world.

a favorite defendant? i like this question a lot hang on, let me see.

okay so I think my overall favorite would have to be Iris-- she's extremely fascinating as a character and I felt very satisfied by her existence in Trials and Tribulations, there was nothing I felt about her character needed to be expanded or changed, really, I honestly loved how they did her so much and think she was just a really really interesting character. her dynamic with Dahlia especially is <333 I remember when I watched the case I was convinced the WHOLE time that Iris and Dahlia were the same person; my sister, who knew they weren't, had a rough go at things watching with me HAHA. but the backstory and the twist was really good imo.

I also love love love Vera Misham-- she resonated a lot with me, honestly, and I thought she was a really well designed character. she was interesting and her sprites were really cool, she just means a lot to me. one of the quickest faves i had developed, when i saw her i just knew i loved her.

honorary mention of Lana (my actual girlfriend who i love so so much) and Adrian (one of the characters who i think had the best development tbh and design from the getgo, really added a lot to Farewell)

The best part of the AA fandom is when they hate on godot or reduce him to the misogyny guy and then turn around and make phoenix the same shade as him but it's okay bc we like phoenix and don't like godot. Also the fact that the gavins get whitewashed for different reasons? Like klavier gets so because he's "liked" and therefore is seem as lighter (aka closer to whiteness) and kristoph gets lightened bc he's a "sophisticated" villain so he can't have-- like he's not even that dark ffs-- but because he's presented as clever he can't be too dark. LITERALLY GOT THIS ASK AS SOON AS I ANSWERED THE LAST ONE.....literally ridiculous that the ace attorney fanbase of all groups had to take the gavins and run because klavier is as dark as the official aa artists r willing to go (as we can very clearly see with issei tenkai/jeff master in aai2). and not even just in the fandom either like official art lightens klavier regularly too. he's very clearly darker than most other characters in his sprites and in the 20th anniversary art and then you open up the cafe art ALSO in commemoration of the 20 year anniversary?

Fave Sprites in each AA Game: T&T

(Spoilers for Trials and Tribulations)

We're here at the third game! Hell yeah! Many people consider this to be their favourite ace attorney game, and honestly I have it pretty high up there in my rankings. I think this batch of animations was the hardest to choose from so far, because there's just so many good designs. I tried my best though, so let's check them out!

Animation 1:

Not only does this man's hair look like cinnamon rolls, he himself is one. You've probably noticed if you've seen my other posts in this series, but I ADORE leaned-in sprites so much. I hadn't really realized it before making these posts, but all of them have at least one sprite with the character leaning forward; it's just such a simple way to give the character more dimensionality and urgency without really changing the angle you're viewing them from that much. Now let's name the things I like in this sprite: I love the slightly angled shoulders, the sleeve cuffs he has on, the pleading look on his face, and his overall colour palette. Very good, Ron. You're doing great. <3

Animation 2:

I just had to put in another Ron sprite, and how could it be anything other than his iconic "hair springs". This sprite is just really cute; by making his eyes and (especially his) mouth larger, he has a more chibi look to him, which makes him look adorable. The actual animation in this sprite is pretty bland, I must admit. However I think that's balanced out with how clearly one can imagine the action happening. You really don't need too many sprites if the viewers understands what they're looking at. Also the way he bobs up and then down as he yells is amazing. I really do love this man a lot.

Animation 3:

Mia Fey marry me challenge. She's so fucking pretty and I love her young design just as much as I love her older look. The bangs are one of the biggest changes between the two variations and it's certainly a welcome addition. This hair flip is so smug (god i fucking lover her) and it's so great to see her pull out this animation after getting bullied for over half of the case. This sprite and many of her other younger ones make her death retroactively so much sadder.

Animation 4:

I actually like young Edgeworth's design much better than his original (at least when referring to the original trilogy; the Investigations game also changed his older design somewhat). I think a lot of his weird proportions have been fixed: the strangely (yaoi) large hands, the tired eyes, and the extremely wide shoulders. The main reason why this sprite fucking rules is the storytelling behind such a simple finger-wag. It's a very clear reference to Manfred Von Karma's almost identical courtroom animation. It's such a simple way to showcase his influence on Miles, but it's also extremely effective.

Animation 5:

I was debating whether I should use this sprite or the one where steam comes out of his mask. I ended up choosing this just because it caught me so off-guard when I first played Bridge To The Turnabout; I genuinely was not expecting Godot to be the culprit, and I was completely lost during this part of the trial. Then the lights turned off and I realized what was about to happen. This is probably one of the most minimalist "sprites" in the whole series, but it's also so so good. The flickering of the red lights make Godot appear monstrous or inhuman, which gives his goggles a more technological appearance that doesn't shine through as well with his other sprites. I think it's one of the scariest sprites in the series; overall a great climax for the case, game, and trilogy as a whole.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

I’m posting this immediately to let everyone know that this kind of behavior in any letter is not acceptable. It’s one thing to insult an AA character. It’s one thing to complain in concern about someone breaking the rules. HOWEVER, it is not acceptable to insult real life people that follow this blog! This is the second time someone has posted a complaint via Mod Letters that results in insulting someone following this blog.

These are real people you are insulting, not fictional characters, and if you have an issue with them, then be polite about it. And, another thing, we do sometimes answer letters that are breaking the rules. We made it very clear that we do answer rule-breaking letters so long as it is possible to do so, because we’d like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they are not purposefully breaking any rules. Fun fact: most of the rule-breakers come from Anonymous letters like this one:

STOP THIS! No, this person is not breaking any rules as far as I know. The rules do not state that no one is allowed to write letters as an OC. They just can’t be OC’s related to the canon character in some way like Klavier Gavin’s sister or Franziska’s best friend we never hear about in canon. These OC’s DO. NOT. BREAK. THE. RULES. As for roleplaying, it’s not written as a roleplay so much as it’s written like two people writing the same letter. Yes, that is possible and it is done in a very similar fashion. Using your own sprites is not an issue either.

If anyone does break the rules, we will let them know. If any of you feel someone is breaking the rules and need to write a complaint to us, be polite about it. Don’t tell us to treat them as blasphemous outcasts, ban them or to exile them. Excuse my French, but who the hell do you think you are!? Now, you’re telling us to block people for not following the rules, something we have NEVER done before? We didn’t even block the former mods that left us or even Dawnsongfg for that matter. Yes, we know Dawnsongfg’s original account. They accidentally sent us a letter from their original account at one point and we. didn’t. block. them. Why? Because we don’t believe in blocking anyone, unless they really are harassing or harming us in any way. Even with going too far with Mod Justice, we knew it wasn’t meant as being insulting and apologized for it. Breaking a few rules isn’t harassing or harming anyone, however THIS IS HARMFUL.

If this letter was not Anonymous, I’d give them a blocking warning. This letter, I know, was written with the intention of hurting a follower because they didn’t like their letters. If we see any Anonymous letters like these that insults other followers, they are getting deleted. Be respectful and don’t insult other people for writing letters. If you believe they are breaking a rule, then let us know without insulting the person you think is breaking the rules. Don’t ask for them to be banned or blocked, unless you think they are doing harm to real life people. You wouldn’t file a restraining order against someone for being annoying, so why block someone for the same reason online?

As forewarned promised, my extremely biased culprit/killer ratings based on nothing but physical attractiveness. Disclaimer: I am gay. Also my idea of who is considered a "true culprit" may be a bit weird so bear with me. Spoilers for all ten games!

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney:

1. Frank Sahwit: 0/10. You are nothing. His case lasts 5 minutes and he is ugly. I am not any more endeared seeing him in aai2.

2. Redd White: 2/10. Only gets a 2 because a friend told me about him a long time ago and I thought he was more of a major character and that he would become a blorbo. I was wrong, but I feel kinda bad for being wrong.

3. Dee Vasquez: 4/10. Woman, but pretty cool. Has the mafia on her side, so that's a plus.

4. Yogi Yanni: -10/10. Gross old man.

5. Manfred von Karma: -50000/10. Fuck you die.

6. Jake Marshall: 5/10. Cowboy if you're into that, but I'm personally not that much.

7. Damon Gant: -1/10. Not as bad of an old man as you could've been.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney 2: Justice for All:

1. Richard Wellington: 6.5/10. Pretty boy. Cool ringtone. Could be hotter.

2. Mimi Miney: 4/10. Woman. Not very memorable, but cute anyway.

3. Morgan Fey: 1/10. Old woman.

4. Acro: 6.5/10. Would like him better with his hair down, but he's literally the only aa character in a wheelchair and I like him.

5. Matt Engarde: 8/10. FINALLY a hot villain. Very, very cute before he goes evil, but gets worse when he drops his facade I think tbh.

6. Shelley DeKiller: 2/10. Again could be a worse old man, and I saw cool fanart of him once.

1. Dahlia Hawthorne: 6/10. Woman, but I love her. If you're into high femmes, that's the one for you.

3. Dane Gustavia: 5.5/10. Really cool design but not my type. His song is sick tho.

4. Blaise Debeste: -10000/10. Nasty gross man with a terrible beard. Nasty.

5. Simon Keyes: 8.5/10. LOVE him. I am not immune to a sexy clown. Sorta awkward but cute before, but letting his hair down really did it for me.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies:

1. Ted Tonate: -1/10. Gross.

2. Florent L'Belle: 2/10. Ehhh.

3. Aristotle Means: -50/10. He scares me.

4. Bobby Fullbright: 3/10. I want him to be hot so bad. I call him Midbright.

i would say "i'm not gonna explain myself" but that gives me anxiety so instead i will <3 except it won't make much sense so

anyway this is about bart panicking bcus he's unknowingly starting The Smithuation™ (he just thinks he fucked up in a regular way) (smith is also there. he is not feeling any better)

Bart was a dead man.

He had been since the beginning, really -- one does not get lugged around town as the hostage of a man with a reputation for killing his hostages out of frustration with particularly high hopes about their survival -- but this had just sealed the deal.

It wasn't as though he'd ever been secretive about the kind of person he was. Bart was a delicate man, one with a heart that yearned for artistic prowess and wilted under distress. He'd survived this long by being good at hiding and an expert at packing the things he'd witnessed in boxes that he never planned to open. Christian knew this (he'd smacked Bart over the head for it, even, and Bart's hands had never fully recovered), and he was sure Oculus knew it, considering he knew everything else about Bart. So why, exactly, were they expecting him to carry a corpse back to their little base?

And not just a corpse! A corpse that was much, much taller than him. A corpse that was much, much taller than Bart who was also a policeman. The corpse of a policeman who was much, much taller than Bart who he definitely knew the name of, and whose partner may not hesitate long enough upon seeing this man DEAD for Bart to get an explanation out. And even if he could explain himself, what was the other policeman going to say? "You were hiding in near apartment the entire time, knew the Priest was going to kill my partner, and waited until after I left to find a place to bury him to come out with explicit orders to steal his body? That's fine, I'll let you hide here until they come to kill you." Unlikely.

But if he returned to Christian without this body, Christian wouldn't hesitate at all.

Maybe that would be easier. Christian knew, clearly, where to shoot to kill.

(He also knew where to shoot to not kill, his meager survival instincts reminded him. He flexed his fingers.)

His phone went off.

He was bluffing, mostly, to Christian (there were imps, yes, but they'd run from the gunshots), but they all were dripping with some otherworldly liquid that reeked of alcohol. Maybe they were coming back to get Bart or, worse, take the body for themselves! He couldn't -- he wasn't that stupid. He tried his best to gather the body into his arms, as gruesome as a blood-soaked corpse being carried bridal style was, but this man was quite lanky and much heavier than he looked, and --

Drip. Drip. Drip drip drip drip drip drip DRIP!

Something was hitting his head. Something that felt like it was supposed to be wet and instead just sent shivers of death down Bart's spine, and he didn't even think about what he was doing as he spun around, trying to put his arms up in front of his face and knocking --

He threw the body into the sprite that lived here.

Bart wasn't sure whether he or the newly created sprite started screaming first.

Bart was a walking dead man, and in front of him was the floating, ghostly form of a man who had, moments before, been dead.

The newly created sprite looked at Bart, his left eye covered by a flask that was leaking liquid down his cheek, and began to cry, staring at his blood on Bart's hands.

Bart crumpled to the ground.

If you don't mind, can I ask you 2 questions? 1-What books/videos/content do you recommend for someone who wants to start to animate sprites like you do? 2-How do you make anti-aliasing? I know a bit of color theory, but I struggle a lot to make my lines look smooth. Thank you!

Hey, Anon. Appreciate you feel that way about my work. Means a lot, man.

Your first question is a little difficult for me to answer. I've never looked at books, or videos for animating sprites. I just started doing it back in the day because video games and animation were pretty cool to me, and emulation was a big thing for me in the early 2000′s.

I used to (and still do from time to time) check out a lot of sprite art of classic games on Spriters Resource. I’d look at stuff from the SNES, Arcade, Sega Genesis, PS1, etc. Some of my influences were simplistic and fun stuff, like The Simpsons Arcade and Super Mario World, or other styles like games from Capcom, such as Magical Quest and Marvel Vs. Capcom, and some of Treasure's Sega Genesis game art is really appealing and prolific as well.

I didn't grow up with a GBA, and not well versed with it's library, but it seems like there's a lot of decent stuff on that system as well.

Here’s a link I do remember from back in the day by pixel legend, Cure. Definitely a good place to start. I wasn’t heavy into tutorials, because I’m stubborn and find it hard to buckle down and read, but started reading it seriously a few years ago, and it’s a pretty well written piece:

Check out youtube videos if you wanna study the motion of sprite art in games. Youtube lets you use the < and > keys to go back and forward with frames. Use 60 fps quality if you can. NintendoComplete is an excellent source for game footage in 60fps and 720p or above from what I’ve seen. Principal’s of animation are important. This has been in my watch later list for what’s felt like 2 or 3 years, so checked to see if it’s a decent source, and it’s actually pretty helpful. Pixel artist use these rules as well, so study stuff like this. I’ve never been well versed in technical stuff. I just liked animating, and learned over trial and error, which is actually bad and wouldn’t recommend being that stubborn.

I’d say keep it simple if you’re a beginner, and I’d like to say the same for the subject matter you study. I’m pretty sure you’ll have an easier time starting with pixel art from stuff like NES, Gameboy, or other simple contemporary consoles.

I also feel that you should try looking at simpler stuff like Super Mario Bros. than say starting with something more complex like Shatter Hand. I think Japanese companies like Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Sunsoft (Japanese only), and definitely some others out there, are the best influence in my opinion when it comes to just good overall design.

Second question, I really didn’t want to answer this question, because AA isn’t the easiest thing to explain, I’ve never really written a tutorial, or talk to people about art. I just do it because I’m just drawn to it I guess.

Really didn’t wanna do this because it takes up some time to explain everything, I do not feel like a tutorial guy or have any experience writing them, and I really need to jump onto other things.

Spent some time putting this together, but I don’t know. I can’t really recommend taking this seriously. If you want to learn about anti-aliasing, I will say go check out the link from above on Cure’s Pixel Art Tutorial. It’s more helpful.

Hopefully, at the very least, the links I sent you can be of better help. Keep an open mind, not all old pixel art is perfect, question why you put down blocks the way you do, and don’t count down the days you been at it and focus on having fun doing and or learning it. Good luck with whatever you do.
