@creator-kami​ and I made a big discovery last night that cannot be unseen and I can’t believe what I once joked about in my head might actually be true. This isn't the first time that's happened, but if I had to point this out and realize it, you all need to see it, too. So, y'all see the zippers on his sleeves? Yea, it's easy to think that zipper is for the jacket itself, but it's not. Kami cleaned up one of the old promotional art pieces.

Unknown has zippers on his jacket sleeves. His jacket has been a two-in-one this entire time. His jacket can become sleeveless. He's got the ability to not only make that jacket breathable when it's hot, but he chooses not to in the name of the off-the-shoulder style. What am I supposed to do with this information other than share it with all of you so you can be trapped in this moment with me?

This is what I wrote in the feedback section for the new discord update:

I absolutely hate that the messages like group chats and DMs are in a different tab than servers now. there was absolutely nothing broken about the way that it was laid out and displayed before, so there's no reason to "fix" it!! I also am sorely missing the ability to swipe left to look at all members of a server, the having to click on the top feels clunky and visually unpleasant. I hate being taken to an entirely different screen just to see who's online! it's an entirely unnecessary extra step that helps no one. the idea of "prioritizing messaging" by putting private messages and group chats in a tab seperate from servers is completely asinine when discord as a whole is a messaging service in and of itself! also, it's a small aesthetic change but rounding the corners of the servers when swiping to look at the servers at the side is unnecessary and unwelcome and overall incredibly displeasing to look at. speaking of swiping, making it so swiping left creates a reply to a message is the most unnecessary, confusing, and almost MALICIOUS feeling change yet, especially when swiping left had an entirely different function before. please listen to your user base and stop making so many changes that absolutely NO ONE is actually asking for and actively make the user experience worse. you have a good app, it is not broken, stop trying to fix things that don't need to be changed because you've continually only made things worse.

jupe's been chasing the fame he got from the Gordy Show despite the absolute tragedy it ended in. he's made it his life's goal to profit off spectacle even if he can't speak directly about the trauma that's foundational to both that event and his current behavior (notice he talks about the SNL sketch about the gordy show rather than the gordy show incident itself). he's tried to recreate what he could from the gordy show--he was an asian kid (in the show) with a white (im assuming) adoptive family and he's gone on to marry a white woman. the one member of the cast that was untouched and possibly even spared violence. he thought he'd be safe from the alien the same way he was "safe" from gordy.

and look at how he drags other people into it, too. he has the memorbilia room and charges people to look at it. he has the shoe. he's brought his former co star and first crush along with countless other people to witness This Great Spectacle. He even involved horses. Spectacle is at the center of Nope the same way its at the center of modern life, and in both real life and this movie, people forget that chasing that fame and chasing/trying to profit from that spectacle causes real harm to people who may not be directly involved.

contrast him with OJ--even for his initial attempts with Em and Angel to get that "Oprah" moment, one of the first scenes he's in is him trying to shy away from everyone. he won't make eye contact, he's not forward or bold and he's physically turned away from everyone. he has nothing to show off (he's not praising the horse or talking up the ranch, he's just there to do his job and leave) but he's mindful of how the current center of attention (the horse) can turn into a real danger when too many people flock to it (don't look it in the eye, keep that thing out of its eye, they're territorial, stay away from the back of the horse). obviously em comes in and tries to draw attention anyways, but that contrast between Jupe and OJ is still there.

Etho had offered to take the first watch. He wouldn’t have been able to sleep, anyway. The entire server was in an uproar; there had been too many deaths too soon. Across the river, the red velvet keep was still on fire, the ranch was a burnt-out husk.

As for the Relation-ship, Etho and Joel had put out the flames as best they could, and were now camping in its remains. Etho paced its length now, peering through the gaps in the ribbing and fingering the string of his bow. There was no sound in the night other than the distant roar of flames.

There was a murmur, nearby. Joel was stretched out on the hard ground, face ghostly in the darkness. He had fallen asleep, exhausted, almost as soon as he lay down. But he was still wound tightly, still subject to the red fever that coursed through Etho, that had led to them burning and killing across the server.

Joel’s face tensed in his sleep and he let out another murmur, words indistinguishable. Etho crept towards him and crouched at his side, watched Joel's face spasm in anger.

Etho smoothed a hand through Joel’s hair. “Shh,” he hushed. Joel flinched at the touch but settled at the sound of Etho’s voice. “Rest now.”

There was a blanket nearby, somehow miraculously spared from the flames. Etho stood, knees creaking, and fetched it. He pulled it over Joel, tucked it tightly around his sleeping form. Slowly, Joel’s brow relaxed.

Etho drew his fingers through Joel’s hair, listened to his breath slow. When he was satisfied that Joel was deep asleep, Etho resumed his patrol. He would protect them until dawn.

alex - he’s a badass. he only plays hardcore. he is a CHAD (no donella) when it comes to minecraft, grinds the hell out of the game

tod - will fuck around aimlessly. his house is dirt and will STAY dirt until he puts some slabs on it. has a pet wolf he named “bitch” cause he found it funny

george - actually TRIES to get everyone to beat the game. (they have a server btw) takes on challenges a lot and sets up an op villager trading hall

billy - just builds for fun. he tries to make one house for every type of wood. also the type of guy to get WAYYYY too attached to his minecraft pets.

carter - GRIEFER. blew up a whole mountain for fun, killed one of billy’s parrots (he surprisingly apologized), kills everyone else with some op sword for fun. man is insane.

terry - hermit. she has her own base far away from everyone else and does her own shit. makes a LOT of potions and cool crafting shit, has killed the wither at least five times, and does this while still having a cute base

(year end sappy post) 2022 was a kinda shitty year for me. probably the worst year for my mental (and physical) health, a lot of it spent lonely and isolated. I truly don’t think I’d have been able to make it through without mcr’s music and the friendships and connections I’ve made these past few months through this blog. Headcanon - Sir Wilford IV is one of two leaders of the Toppats to have died while leading because of factors not relating to the clan. He was hit by a car. Not while escaping prison, or robbing a bank or anything criminal, he was just crossing the road one day.
