While driving through northern Florida with two other FBI agents en route to a team-building seminar, Scully and Mulder are drawn into the disappearance of several men in a wooded area. Rumors are soon circulating in the nearby town that there are monsters in the woods. Mulder soon believes there is definitely something in the woods causing these deaths and nature itself may be seeking revenge in the form of invisible creatures. He and Scully go off into the woods and encounter the creatures firsthand...forest monster, or perhaps ancient spirits...

Hi, mate! Thanks to this account I now know that Cwr and Elementals had new works (if I can say that about September 2022). I read DCWT and I exploded in the street a few minutes ago after reading one of ur post about new texts. Can you help me to know in what order I need to read all the new stuff and where I can read/listen them? Is only Pacific Rim related or there is some other fandom and/or new original world?

If you kept up with CWR’s work in Pacific Rim prior to 2015 or so, then you probably read Designations Congruent With Things, Out of Many Scattered Things, and the one shots such as Like The Twist of a Plot. If you’re looking for new CWR shenanigans in the Pacific Rim Universe since 2020 or so, the big New Addition is called Aftermath and it is gorgeous 🥹 You can download/read Aftermath on CWR’s blog here! If you want to reread everything in the Designations universe, I’d probably suggest just going in release order: DCWT, OOMST, Aftermath, and then the one-shots. The first three are all on CWR’s site for download, and I have a doc of the one-shots I saved in The Before Times here. As for audio- Elementals released a recording for DCWT Ch 20 and Ch21! No official word on whether we’ll get the rest, but their website does say audio for Aftermath is coming so fingies and toes are crossed 😇

The OTHER new stuff CWR has been/is currently releasing is all in the Stargate universe - before writing in Pacific Rim, CWR originally started a triptych of Stargate fics: Force Over Distance (complete), Mathèmatique (WiP) and Ad Noctum (WiP). In the last few years, CWR has begun to rewrite FoD, and rework/add on to Maths and AdNo. 🥹 Likewise, Elementals has also been releasing new audio for these updated/new chapters, available on their website - AND the newest update this weekend is Elementals is maybe now allowing us access to in-progress audio 😱 go look at their site for details. It’s ridic.

Figuring out the order to read the Triptych is both straightforward and complicated - you should read FoD first, and then can read Maths and AdNo in any order after that… but should someone reading FoD for the first time start with the original complete FoD first and then the new WiP version of FoD for instance? Or just jump straight to the new versions? I wish I knew for certain pal - my gut though says start with the new versions on CWR’s website and if you’re fascinated and want to take the time to compare to the OGs then I have copies of them in my google drive for your perusal! That’s just me though - Anyone else out there have an opinion on whether newcomers to CWR’s Stargate triptych should read the originals first or start afresh?

Tangentially related to the DCWT side of the ask……… This ask actually sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole. And that rabbit hole is ‘what order do all the chapters of CWR’s Pacific Rim tale ACTUALLY take place in?’ And while part of me worries that reading them in chronological order would fundamentally mess with CWR’s intent (why do I get fractal vibes from stories within stories, drilling down and expanding on smaller and smaller sections? I could be reading into things…) I couldn’t help myself. And turns out untangling their order is mostly sort-of possible so I maybe put that list together below for anyone brave enough to attempt it lmao. Take the order with a grain of salt as some of these like The Twist of a Plot could maybe take place later or sooner than I’ve put them but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m running this post so what can ya do ya know?

cleanwhiteroom posting Ad Noctum again this week and rewatching Air part 1-3 with my dad yesterday sent me into an SGU spiral, and as a result my notebook has a new doodle-filled double page spread of CWR/SGU tribute. At the top we have AdNoc!Rush, Math!Rush, FoD!Rush, AdNoc!Rush again (but this time with crystals and goop), then Young, Eli and Rush who I drew whilst watching Air, followed by the desert planet they end up on in part 3. Then we have a ‘cover’ for At All Angles, aka my favourite arc in Force Over Distance. Been a while since i drew all these guys but it was so much fun! Also the gate is weirdly relaxing to draw....

so fpx has been doing ridiculously well and deokdam beat ruler for the first time in his career and i sat down and vomited thirteen hundred words of brainrot onto the page. i had originally intended it for tumblr so i'm posting it here but it's theoretically long enough for me to post it as an actual fic so like. if anyone wants that let me know. no previous knowledge really needed and i'm too lazy to link stuff so just. here you go have fun

Deokdam has never beaten Ruler. He’s faced him more times than plenty of other AD carries, but each of their twelve matches has stayed in his head for longer than he’d like to admit. Maybe it’s that he’s the first world champion Deokdam ever faced. It’s hard to forget the feeling of barely even being able to stand in his presence, let alone put up a proper fight. But as the years went on, Deokdam’s losses to the other AD carry only got more and more depressing, and…well. He guesses it’s sort of a Thing by now. 

And so, even though he and his team have been doing far better than anyone expected, even beating TES and JackeyLove, Deokdam can’t help but feel apprehensive about their upcoming match. But…they’ve come this far by trusting each other. And so, as they start their warmups before the match, Deokdam taps Life on the shoulder. “You were his support for years,” he says quietly. “What’s his weakness?”

A sly smirk spreads across Life’s face, and he responds just as quietly. “He has a habit of overstepping. He’s overconfident. And it happens more often than you might think, especially now that he doesn’t have me anymore…”

Deokdam hesitantly returns his smile. “Thanks. I think I have an idea.”

As Deokdam exchanges bows with Ruler, he keeps his eyes trained on the other AD carry, watching his every move. He steps forward first, just as Life predicted, and Deokdam can’t help but smile. Something feels different this time as he takes a step back, dodging Ruler’s first attack and beginning the dance back-and-forth, and Deokdam thinks he knows why.

“I think I’ve figured it out,” Viper says, his voice of moonlight so similar to Deokdam’s and yet nothing alike as he offers his hand to Deokdam, who takes it gratefully, allowing Viper to pull Deokdam to his feet.

“What, how to beat me? Because I’m pretty sure you figured that out a while ago,” Deokdam says, trying to pass it off as a joke, but his magical voice betrays his frustration. He’d accepted Viper’s request to spar over the offseason without a second thought, eager to practise both with his friend and someone with far more skill than him, but after the third day, Deokdam is just exhausted, and Viper absolutely destroying him every round isn’t exactly making him feel much better. 

“No, not that,” Viper says, sighing. “Let’s sit down. We should get water anyway.” Well, he’s right about one thing, at least. Even though it doesn’t do anything to put out the fire in his throat, Deokdam’s definitely dehydrated by now, and just the act of drinking it is refreshing. It also means he can avoid asking what Viper did mean for a bit, but eventually, his curiosity gets the better of him, and he asks Viper just that.

“Oh, right. Well, I think I figured out your problem. Fighting,” he quickly adds, evidently seeing Deokdam’s face and how he was about to say he has far more than one problem to worry about. “You think too much about yourself.”

The words hit him harder than any dose of noctum. Great. He already feels awful for drowning himself in self-pity practically all of last spring and half of summer, but it hurts even more coming from his friend. 

Viper frowns. “Wait, no, not—” He sighs. “I don’t mean that you’re selfish, Deokdam. Just that you get too much in your own head. You’re so focused on what you should do that you’re not paying enough attention to your opponent, so when I do something unexpected, you get caught completely off-guard.”

Oh. The tension eases from Deokdam’s shoulders somewhat. That…makes a lot more sense. 

“I used to have the opposite problem, actually,” Viper continues. “I was always so focused on what the enemy was doing that I forgot my teammates were there too. I didn’t trust them, and our coordination would always be slightly…off. I never really fixed it until…well. You’re a lot better at it than I am. You’ve always had much better synergy with your teams. So you don’t need to worry about that. What I do want you to worry about is your opponent.” He stands up with a smile. “One last round?”

Deokdam can’t help but return it, standing up and following him back to the sparring ring. “Sure.”

“Okay. I want you to keep your focus on me. Your instincts are good enough by now, but you trip yourself up. Don’t think about what you’re doing at all. Just trust yourself, and try to defeat me.”

Just trust yourself. Your instincts are good enough. It’s not that Deokdam would ever say Viper was wrong in saying that, per se, but for the first time, Deokdam thinks he might have been right as he fires a shot at Ruler, clipping him in the shoulder and dodging away from the chains that Missing sends flying at him. 

Smoke begins to swirl around the battlefield, meaning Flandre must have taken out Xiaolaohu in his pocket realm, and if Showmaker hadn’t complained about it being completely unfair every other week in 2022, Deokdam would be realising just how annoying it is right about now. Thanks to Kellin, though, Deokdam has plenty of practice of fighting with irritating gases everywhere, and he can just barely make out the silhouette of Missing’s body right before he throws his hook at Deokdam, and he sidesteps it on instinct. Something grazes his side—one of Ruler’s razor-sharp feathers—but Deokdam hardly feels it thanks to the fire already burning in his veins. All it does is reveal Ruler’s position, and Deokdam fires another shot in his direction.

Ruler lets out a grunt of pain, but he must still think he has the advantage, what with the smoke everywhere, because he takes another step forward, obviously confident. Too confident, because now he’s close enough that Deokdam can see his figure through the smoke. He fires a shot at Ruler’s leg, trying to knock him off balance, and Ruler predictably launches himself into the air, flinging an array of feathers at Deokdam. But with his wings flapping to keep himself in the air, he’s blowing the smoke away, and Deokdam switches weapons, launching a gravity orb at Ruler and clenching his fist, pulling him down to earth. He thinks his legs are bleeding, but it doesn’t matter, not when he switches back to his first weapon, shooting Ruler right in the chest and eliminating him, a faint red mark glowing where his Guild’s magic protected him. 

With their AD carry gone, Deokdam and his teammates are able to make quick work of what remains of JD Guild, especially thanks to Milkyway’s arrows that Deokdam swears have homing magic on them. The rest of the match is a bit of a blur, but the ceremony afterwards stays clear in his mind. Flandre is just as good-natured as Deokdam remembers, and Yagao has a quiet smile even in defeat, but when Deokdam shakes Ruler’s hand, the other AD carry murmurs in Korean, “Well fought.” 

As he walks away, Deokdam catches a glimpse of himself, and if his heart weren’t already pounding out of his chest from the adrenaline rush, it would be now from the shock. Ruler’s glow given by the Rift might be powerful, but right now, Deokdam shines with a light far more important, moonlight gleaming brightly in an aura all around him. It doesn’t go away, even as Milkyway heals his wounds, and when they leave, Deokdam chances a look up at the sky. There, peeking through the stormy clouds, Deokdam can see Her light shining down from above for the first time since he came to China, and he can’t help but smile. 

Thank you, he thinks. I’ll use your gift even better than before.

DEVILSNITE presenta Fighting Evil

¡Atención amantes del metal y el terror!

Llega la banda que ha estado dando que hablar desde su creación en 2012. Devilsnite, un grupo que combina el metal y el cine de terror para crear un estilo único que ellos mismos han autodenominado "Horror Metal".

Con influencias del horror punk y de metal, la banda realizo presentaciones en vivo y publicaron de su primer EP en 2014, "Coming Home To Hell". Desde entonces, no pararon de crecer logrando telonear a The Misfits y formar parte del soundtrack de la película "Overtime" en 2020.

En 2018 lanzaron su primer álbum completo, "Horror World", que incluye una versión de "Thriller" de Michael Jackson. Y en 2022, la banda estrenó tres nuevos singles que pertenecen a su próximo álbum, "Ad Noctum", "Stake Through The Heart" y "Never Sleep Again". Estos temas fueron muy bien recibidos por sus fans y el medio musical.

Pero esto no es todo, este año se celebraron los 10 años de Devilsnite en The Roxy, participaron en eventos importantes como Buenos Aires Paranormal y la HORROR XP CON, y fueron parte de un show inolvidable junto a Doyle, el legendario guitarrista de Misfits, en UNICLUB.

Y como si fuera poco, la banda se encuentra preparando el lanzamiento de su nuevo álbum, "Fighting Evil". Con toda esta actividad y su estilo único, Devilsnite se convirtió en una de las bandas más interesantes del panorama musical argentino. ¡No pierdan de vista a esta banda de Horror Metal!

A dicembre esce a sorpresa "Summits", primo singolo di lancio su Spotify di Fall, undicesimo album dei Borknagar, che dopo il successo di True North tentano di battere il ferro finché è caldo. La scelta dei singoli è stata da un lato indicativa dell’andamento dell’album, dall’altra una soluzione rivelatasi forse troppo diversificata che ci mostra una perfetta cartina di tornasole del nuovo album. Summits è un lungo brano articolato, in mid-tempo, con il classico alternare screaming e voci pulite, ricamando il perfetto mood Borknagar, ma creando un brano che difficilmente rimarrà in testa. Con "Nordic Anthem" saliamo decisamente di livello con un’ode ai vichinghi che salpano da una baia all’altra. Un inno che carica tribù e villaggi (un po’ sulla falsariga di Vikings e dei lontani cugini Amon Amarth) mentre Vortex rilascia una vocalità sempre più leggera ed estesa; il ritornello è quasi di una semplicità disarmante, perfettamente arrangiato che ci indica una direzione verso la quale i Borknagar dovrebbero puntare tutto loro stessi.

Peccato che con "Afar" si ricada nell’anonimato, in uno di quei brani b-side a caso presi dalla coda di Universal o di Epic o di Winter Thrice; le parti aggressive (a volte thrasheggianti) non riescono a sposarsi col resto del songwriting. "Moon", è il classico singolone cavalca-live sulla falsariga di "Colossus-Frostrite-Ad Noctum". Qui Vortex dà davvero il suo meglio perché sembra abbandonare qualsiasi impostazione metal in favore di una leggerezz pop-rock. Mai la sua voce è stata così dolce e forte allo stesso momento; narra sensazioni ed esperienze come un esperto cantore delle steppe. Bellissime le chitarre che accompagnano le sue strofe creando un brano riuscito al 90% benché non sia tirato come la classica triade già citata. Perché "brano riuscito al 90% ?" Perché quegli assoli sparati dopo la prima strofa non hanno davvero senso di esistere, soprattutto quella posizione della metrica, "Stars Ablaze" colpisce ancora per la posata teatralità delle vocals e delle chitarre che si comportano quasi come strumenti accompagnatori.

Mentre "Unraveling" non aggiunge niente al disco "The Wild Lingers" ribalta ancora una volta le aspettative proponendo una lenta performance dove diverse voci (credo sia Lars) dialogano e innalzano la qualità dell’album. "Northward" torna ad essere uno di quei brani poco esilaranti che si mettono in fila nelle tante tante composizioni dei Borknagar che sono rimaste all’ombra di quei pochi brani davvero brillanti, ma con un’eccezione: riesce a ritagliarsi un quadratino di personalità sempre grazie alle melodie create da Vortex. La domanda è sempre quella: possibile che ogni volta che esce un album dei Borknagar, il loro essere altalenanti ci mostra da una parte alcune delle composizioni più riuscite della carriera e allo stesso tempo, il solito mood riempitivo e derivativo ?
