Name: Koopa Krag
Debut: Mario Party DS
Get a load of this GEEZER. Most elderly Koopa in town! You can tell he is old because he has gray hair. And you can tell he has gray hair because they gave him big ol' eyebrows and a beard, so that he would have some hair to be gray!
They are really such impressive eyebrows. So long. So solid! They're like curtains! Or like a little dog's ears! These are eyebrows that would billow in the breeze.
Tumblr media
They are a lot like those of Kroop from The Thousand Year Door! The 2000s was THE decade for elderly Koopas with massive eyebrows! I wonder if they were adhering to a style guide with these. A Mario Bible. Okay, three paragraphs about eyebrows is enough. It is time to talk about the turtle behind the eyebrows! And you will learn what he is holding in that first picture. Is it a glowing corn kernel? Let us find out...
Tumblr media
Koopa Krag is the grandfather of a Koopa named Koopa, and he has been trapped inside of a book by Kamek. We never learn why. But isn't it obvious? They are clearly bitter ex-lovers. Such tension between two elderly turtle men can mean nothing else!
The second most likely reason is, Koopa Krag simply knew too much. He knows a lot of things, somehow. He's like the new Toadsworth! He knows what the Magic Jars in Kamek's library will contain even before they are opened, so I guess he has some kind of magical ability. Perhaps channeling energy through his brows...?
Tumblr media
See that blue tower in the upper right corner of Bowser's Pinball Machine? It holds a secret... and Koopa Krag might know what it is! The game tells us this, and nothing else about it. I'm honestly charmed by how mundane that is. Yeah, this one guy might know a little tidbit about this other guy's custom pinball table. Or he might not. It's like the game's writer just hangs out around listening in on characters' conversations. Anyway, I think the tower probably contains a pinball, considering it's above the plunger, and also considering that this is a pinball table where no actual pinballs are visible.
Why would Koopa Krag know about Bowser's pinball machine? That's easy. Kamek would let him play it! Back before the divorce... :(
Tumblr media
In the end, of course, Koopa Krag is freed through the act of a bunch of little guys running around and partaking in wacky minigames. He gives the heroes the treasure he has found, which is a Sky Crystal, which is really just the Thing The Characters Are Collecting. It is not actually a very interesting thing, but it puts basic plot on the table.
I think Koopa Krag is cool! He only appears in this one game, and is only relevant in two story mode cutscenes, but through flavor texts, they make him really feel relevant to this little snippet of the Mario world. He really does feel like he could be a Toadsworth. Toadsworth may be forbidden for unknown reasons these days, but if they ever need a Nice Wise Old Guy for future Mario games, I have just written a letter of recommendation for one!

Hi! There are role swap AUs of them already and I love them so much, so I tried making my own too! You should know that this is entirely self-indulgent like anything else I draw askdaslds
There is Mareach and Bowuigi bc yes alskdklasd and a tiny bit of one-sided Luaisy that leads to nothing because Luigi's a married man 😔
I had other drawings of them, but they're not colored yet and I wanted to share the idea already sjsjs
Here's some ideas for this AU!
-Mario's the Mushroom Kingdom Princess and his parents are the King and Queen. Luigi used to be the other princess, green princess or green princess Mario (as in, his bro Mario, not his last name Mario 😔), but he married Bowser and became the Queen of the Darklands :y Everyone in there respects and remembers his name, he's built a really good reputation for himself by simply being himself, in this house we believe in the 'Luigi is the Darklands' hero' hc too. Their aunt and uncles (and cousin) rule Sarasaland.
-(King boo's a Darklands ally but still hates Queen Luigi from that one time he wiped clean his mansion when the king kidnapped Mario. Luigi's scared of ghosts still too, but Junior always reassures him he's gonna beat them up if they try scaring his mama (I drew it actually, I'm gonna color it too!))
-When the bros were 20 Bowser at first tried kidnapping Princess Mario, and Mario was ready to beat his ass but they ended up talking about ally-making and ruling a kingdom as Bowser just got crowned king. Mario advised him to listen to his advisor and other stuff and by the time Luigi caught the koopa ship, ready to bonk Bowser in the head with his comically large hammer, the princess and king made plans of starting a treaty.
>Anyways, they met often after that when Bowser went to plan the treat with the Mario King and Queen. Luigi fell for Bowser and Bowser fell harder and Mario regretted talking to Bowser and should have instead just beat him up. He's happy for his bro though. When they married and had Junior and adopted the koopalings he decided that he was very happy that he talked to Bowser. He loves how happy Luigi is.
-Princess Mario accomplishes many things and excels at almost anything he tries, and all the toads treat him as a hero as well as a princess and all, so his dad doesn't think he's a failure, but still bothers him by urging him to get married ever since he turned thirty. He often compares him to Luigi, who got married at 23 and in the present had eight kids with his husband. Mario doesn't give a shit about marrying soon, but wished his dad would stop being annoying. His mamma is a sweetheart as always and often tells her husband to leave him alone. King Mario is stubborn as hell though (his two boys got that from him), so he doesn't.
-Peach and Daisy are cousins and they were trying to start a business together, though they weren't still sure about what (you know as Princess Peach and Daisy have many businesses together in canon aksdla), but before they could settle anything they somehow fell in the pipe and Peach landed in the Mushroom Kingdom and Daisy in the Darklands.
-Bowser still steals the Super Star, but in hopes of giving Luigi the coolest anniversary gift ever, as it's their seventh and all that. He very often gives him all sort of things, like great statues, many many dresses and all the stuff that he knows Luigi loves. Being the himbo he is, he's genuinely concerned that Luigi wouldn't like something unless it is completely new and has never been gifted to him at all. Of course, Luigi would love anything he'd give him, because Bowser's gifts are always made with love. By the end of the things, Luigi tells Bowser so and calls him an idiot affectionally, and also makes him return the Super Star. (movie-like, you know, since this is somehow a retelling alksdlasd)
-Based on what I read at discord, if you're who wrote it, pls know that i love your ideas jsjs- Bowser has set up many statues of Luigi that are of a nice stone color and has gems in its eyes to glow under the lava and the sun when it's out. Imagine that one Luigi render where he's got an arm raised and the other nicely by his side and he's smiling, that's the main statue of Queen Luigi sjjds. They contrast greatly against Bowser's, that were made to make his fierceness stand out, unlike Luigi's that highlight his kindness.
-In the piano scene, Bowser is playing and singing and Luigi's laying on his stomach over the piano's surface (no idea if that's possible but humor me alkdalsd) and listens with the most besotted expression ever, resting his face on his palms. When Kamek interrupts them Luigi's not mad or anything, but Bowser really glares at the magikoopa.
-Junior finds Daisy and brings her to the castle, in hopes that his mama and papa will help her, because they're the greatest people in the whole world and they can do anything.
-Daisy and Luigi quickly become friends, making Bowser jealous of the other human, especially because Daisy from time to time looks at Luigi as if she like-liked him. Not that he thought Luigi had eyes for anyone else beside him, but it was still annoying. And Diasy, for all she annoyed him, seemed to fully respect that Luigi was happily married.
-Daisy teases Bowser mercilessly too, at first clueless that she's supposed to be terrified and respect this guy like everyone else does (maybe Junior takes her to him first, and completely forgetting Junior's initial rambling about his family, she doesn't realize Bowser's the king, but when she meets Luigi, she sees his crown and fancy clothes and immediately knows she gotta be respectful to this guy. She doesn't know how royals are in this lava world, after all), but she keeps doing it, knowing the koopa king may look terrifying but he's mostly bark and no bite.
-DK and Mario are friends and they often meet up to beat the shit out of the other, or sparring as it's called, I think. The first time they did it, Mario got the cat power up and destroyed DK in front of the kong king and other kongs, and since then Cranky doesn't dislike Mario so much, and the others respect him greatly too.
-Mareach,,, they look at eachother and sparkles are in there too. Peach doesn't brutally throw Mario to the ground or anything, but he loses his breath anyways because of her beauty. Also, Mario's type is beautiful tall women (and tall idiot men, maybe his dad suggests DK as a husband and Mario's like ew dad, we're just friends. Or maybe... Donkareach... I like the fics that has them, but idk for this).
-Toad as a wingman, he doesn't care how obvious he is, he's gonna make Princess Mario and his new friend Peach be together, because they clearly like-like the other.
That's all I got for now askdalsd thanks if you read my ramblings, sorry if there's mistakes in writing.
I'm gonna color the stuff I got left and maybe draw more, but knowing myself I dunno if I will anytime soon 😔 Also I go back to college the next week sadly sjsjd
Got any thoughts on the AU? Tell cuz I'd love to know c:< but only if it's nice thoughts, I'm sensitive akdalsd

'Lovers, brothers, killers.'

I know there's no way for them to ever canonically interact so it's a good thing I'm an artist and can just
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I should probably mention that my Paper Mario and TTYD knowledge consists of:
Paper Mario: the opening cutscene, the vulture fight you can skip by saying you're Luigi, Parakarry, Luigi's diary, the name Goombario, Star Spirits(?), Kammy
TTYD: Hooktail, Luigi's Adventure, the look of the final fight, Koops, Doo_liss, Peach talks to a computer, Vivian, Bowser's there (???)
With that being said, In the theoretical scenario where they met though I'd say:
SQ Peach would have Bowser wrapped around her little finger, it didn't need much convincing he's just like that.
Bowser would try to imitate the smoke from Peaches cigarette to try to impress her, making rings and stuff.
While she doesn't care about these antics she'll sometimes show fake gratitude so he doesn't turn against her. It's good to have allies, especially above average ones.
In the beginning they both thought the little guy was pathetic and while Bowser stayed in his egoistic mindset Peach soon realised that while she could beat The Koopa King, she would not win in a fight with CH Luigi. After that realisation her attitude towards him didn't change (not to raise suspicion) but she knows to keep distance just in case.
At some point she might've tried to manipulate him to her side as well but while he does look silly he isn't stupid.
One day Luigi will be friendly and jolly, the other cunning and mischievous. It's tough having two personalities. Same with Peach, power hungry and egoistic yet dainty and a flower fan. Bowser's the only one who is just plainly a brute with short temper that will do anything to get his way.
In summary: Bowser only wants Peaches attention (thinks he can gain it with power) and doesn't care about the runt unless he annoys him, SQ Peach knows that Bowser will do anything for her and takes advantage of it while also trying her best to play around the other nuisance to her benefit, CH Luigi does whatever he wants because he knows they cant do anything to stop him in the end and Mario is living his fever dream.
I could probably think of more ideas but then this post would be much, much longer. So yeah I redesigned them slightly for funsies and while working on the art I've also came up with some dynamics that I wanted to share. It's a little different from my usual stuff ,as I mostly try to stay relatively close to the canon, but I had fun with coming up with these!

Mario had been contemplating solutions in vain, sitting by himself forlornly after yet another grim and discouraging day of continuous failure when he registered the faint shuffling of timid steps nearby.
It was quite late and the man didn't exactly have the energy to feel surprised, but he curiously lifted his head nonetheless.
"Junior?" He wondered aloud, gazing worriedly at his provisory ally. "What's wrong?"
The young prince was rubbing his eyes, swaying idly on his feet and stubbornly staring at the ground. He didn't respond, but he didn't need to. His distress and need for company was plain to see.
Knowingly, Mario unfolded his legs and rested both hands on his knees, giving him a compassionate look.
"Couldn't sleep either, huh?"
Junior shrugged before joining him and leaning against his side, eyes downcast. There was no trace of mischief or deception to his demeanor. Only a defeated sort of acceptance.
Mario couldn't help but feel a genuine twinge of amazement at the vulnerable gesture.
"I'm... really sorry about your dad," he ventured, not quite daring to move.
Junior blinked wearily, but showed no other sign of acknowledgement. There was a brief moment of silence until Mario felt compelled to look at him once more.
"I don't know how long this might take, but I promise you we will find a way to turn him back to normal. I will not give up on you, or him. You have my word," he assured gently.
Junior merely curled in on himself more tightly as a response, appearing impossibly small compared to the gigantic beast his father had somehow become. His brows were furrowed in an expression the plumber had never seen before. A deep sadness mixed with a touch of remorsefulness, or perhaps resentment.
Mario was about to ask if he had somehow said something he shouldn't when Junior finally spoke.
"My Papa is wrong about you," he muttered, very quietly.
Before Mario could so much as blink, the small Koopa went on, shaking his head with a sniffle.
"You're not a coward and you're not stupid. You work hard and you never complain. You just want to help everyone, all the time. Even us."
His words, albeit said reluctantly, were spoken with uncharacteristic sincerity. Mario couldn't find it in himself to smile, so he carefully wrapped an arm around the prince's shell instead, giving his shoulder a comforting pat.
"I don't mind the insults. Not really," he amended softly, hoping that he somehow sounded more confident than he felt. "I guess that's just the way Bowser perceives me. It's okay."
"No, it's not," the young heir retorted. "He's very unfair towards you. He said some really mean and hurtful things, and-"
Junior stopped himself with a small whine, pawing at his face again. He was still averting his gaze, but the fragile tone of his voice betrayed his guilt.
"...I said mean things, too. I'm sorry."
For a few seconds, Mario could only stare mutely back at him, stunned by the unexpected apology. He then shifted closer, bringing his arm more securely around the Koopa in a side hug.
"Everybody makes mistakes," he murmured. "But everybody can change."
"I wish that was also true for my Papa," Junior mumbled, dejectedly.
At this, Mario hummed wistfully, his answer long believed and thoroughly considered.
"Maybe... all he needs is a bit of help."
-
When I first heard of Bowser's Fury a few months ago, all I knew about the plot was that Junior goes to seek Mario's help in the hopes of stopping his father's rampage. And words couldn't describe how much I LOVED the idea. Although this is an older drawing and my look for Junior has since changed a bit (the same way I eventually altered Bowser's design), this was the concept that later inspired the way I've decided to approach Mario and Junior's relationship in a broader sense - which means that there'll definitely be more with these two. :3
Mario being enduringly kind and winning foes over with nothing but his goodness of heart never fails to give me feels, and I want more of that. 💖

The Super Mario Bros. Redux (Pt. 3)
What would happen if, in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, after Mario and Luigi are separated, Mario was the one who ended up in the clutches of Luigi’s eventual arch nemesis, while Luigi teamed up with some of his own close allies to go rescue him? (This part of the story is in one shot format. Most other parts are written in bullet points.) Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 ________ Mario never coped well with feeling trapped. As early as nine months old he was racing around like his life depended on it, clamoring over gates and out of windows, unbuttoning clothes he felt were too tight and twisting door handles the moment he developed the coordination to grasp them. Starting his own business was supposed to be a path to freedom… or at least the closest thing to freedom one could achieve in the modern world. He never in a thousand years would’ve guessed that the domino effect of his little endeavors would have landed him here. His cell felt more like a coffin than a prison; a golden picture frame hung halfway up the wall in an expansive gallery stacked floor to ceiling with other “artwork.” He could move no more than eight inches to the left or right. He couldn’t jump, lie down, sit, or turn around. The only thing he could do was bang his fists against the transparent barrier keeping him trapped, though that did little more than worsen his sense of claustrophobia.
His surrounding captives– far more accustomed to the cramped conditions– did what they could to calm him, as conversation proved to be the best distraction from their unfortunate situation. The talking turtles and mushroom men– Koopas and Toads, they were apparently called– were generous with what little information they had, and slowly Mario learned where he was, why he was where he was, who was responsible, and that– according to the game of telephone that ran up and down the conversing portraits– he was the only human that had been seen in the gallery. The mystery of Luigi’s whereabouts left Mario conflicted. On one hand, he was relieved. This was the last place his little brother needed to be. On the other hand, it opened up the possibility that he was somehow somewhere worse. He had promised his brother that they would be alright as long as he was together, but… to his shame… there was a selfish part of Mario that simply didn’t want to be alone.
He was listening sympathetically to the woes of the Toad in the neighboring painting when the large oaken doors to the gallery swung open, and a gaggle of cackling boos swarmed in. Mario had learned by now that ghosts of this world, free from the fear of death and any physical need, desired only amusement. They acted with a form of malicious playfulness, like a housecat that continues to hunt despite having long eaten its fill. The boos certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves as they floated through the room, lunging and making faces at the helpless captives, laughing every time they whimpered or flinched. Mario, his heart still clinging to memories of his twin, braced his palms against the barrier and shouted at the ghosts to leave the others alone. His command proved far more successful than he thought it would. All fifteen of the little white ghosts turned their attention to him, then swarmed in his direction, blending together into a whirl of white until they arrived in front of his painting fully transformed into a giant, singular boo, staring daggers with glowing yellow eyes. Mario put on a brave front and stared back.
He was made all too familiar with this enormous specter the moment he first stumbled upon the portraits. He still had bruises to prove the memory, though it was only thanks to the other trapped paintings that he was finally able to put a name to the face.
“Boolossus, is it?”
The behemoth didn’t answer. With a smug, sharp-toothed grin it merely plucked Mario from the wall and flitted away with the plumber tucked under its arm like a piece of common furniture. With his only view of the outside world obstructed by the translucent body of Boolossus, Mario was rendered lost and disoriented, and when at last he was once again hung upon a wall he found himself in a different room, carved out of murky, sulfur colored stone. This new location felt musty and ancient, very different from the colorful, well-tended opulence of the gallery. Long defunct lion-faced fountains stared at each other across the room from between towering pillars, where black grit filled the crevices of intricately carved designs. The only signs this decaying place had that it was ever visited was the lit chandeliers hanging overhead, and the blue flames dancing in the stone lamps that lined the center of the room.
Boolossus maintained his victorious expression as he backed away from the newly hung portrait, then buried himself in a corner to make room for the newcomer, phasing through roof overhead. Mario felt his apprehension grow, not because of the darkness around the ghost's eyes that sharpened the spectral glow of his gaze, or the enormous crown atop his head that indicated his place of royalty, or even his enormous size which dwarfed even that of Boolossus. Instead, Mario was troubled by an instinctive sense of true hatred emanating from him, far different from the impish malevolence of the other specters.
His heart leapt a little when the ghost’s crown lit up, and a field of purple magic reached toward him, plucking his painting off the wall and pulling him suspended mid-air to the center of the room.
“What is your name?” the ghost asked with a thoughtful hum. Mario felt the world spin around him as the giant boo used one of his stubby arms to twirl his painting in the air, then stopped it with such suddenness that Mario’s body slammed into the side of his prison. Slightly dazed, he collected himself enough to answer the question. “Mario.” “Mario… I have to admit, despite the novelty of a human visitor, you don’t seem to know your place in this world. Perhaps you don't know who I am? What I’m capable of?”
“You’re King Boo.” Mario answered after a pause– a brief reflection on his conversations in the gallery. “You shattered something called The Dark Moon, and now you want to lead an army of ghosts.”
“Very good! I guess you’re not as dumb as you look.”
Mario let out a yelp as he felt his portrait turned upside down, his feet remaining fixed in place as his arms dangled over his head and the blood rushed to his face.
“Speaking of looks,” King Boo continued, his faux smile looking more like a scowl from its new angle, “it appears you didn’t arrive alone. There just so happens to be another human just like you! Mustache and everything!”
Knowing at once who he was talking about, Mario felt every muscle in his body tense up. His stomach tied itself into knots, and he felt his heartbeat double its pace. King Boo’s eyes flashed. His grin widened, and his great purple tongue lolled hungrily at the air like a dog. “Ha ha ha! There’s that fear! Utter terror in fact! So you do know him!”
“Listen, Luigi isn’t–”
“Luigi! Is that his name?”
Mario winced in self-directed frustration, then sputtered to his sibling’s defense. “He’s no threat to you! He’s just– he’s just a plumber! we both are!”
Mario felt his portrait righted, but his relief was short lived when, just as quickly, the frame grew suddenly smaller around him. He took another look at King Boo. His insincere grin had twisted into very sincere sneer. The magic emanating from his crown was clearly the source of the change, and was only making the frame smaller with every passing second.
“Is he now? And what is ‘just a plumber’ afraid of?” “What do you mean?” Mario returned, bracing his arms against the portrait frame, helplessly trying to push it back. “I mean Luigi has decided to make friends with the sworn enemy of my kingdom!” King Boo shouted, shrinking the portrait further in sharp jolts with every word he emphasized. “So if you don’t want to die alongside him, you’ll tell me just what it’ll take to frighten him off.”
“Those are two different questions!”
“What!?”
“‘What’s he afraid of?’ and ‘what will frighten him off?’...” Mario huffed, struggling to squeeze out the words with his head pressed painfully between his shoulders and his arms pinned against his aching chest. “He’s afraid of ghosts, but it looks like you’re not quite scary enough to get rid of him, huh?”
The retort felt good in the moment, but was followed by a sense of dread. Mario squeezed his eyes shut, expecting the painting to crush him then and there, but to his surprise the walls receded.
He would’ve fallen over in relief if his prison allowed, but instead he simply slumped backwards, taking in large breaths and wiping sweat from his brow. King Boo turned angrily to Boolossus, watching from the corner.
“Boolossus!” “Yes, your Highness?” came the answer, fifteen voices speaking as a single entity as they emerged from the shadows.
“Go to the The Birabuto Capitol! Find E. Gadd and this… Luigi… and bring them here either as paintings or in pieces! Either way is fine with me!”
“Yes your highness!” returned the conjoined voices, falling out of unison as the giant boo flew apart, its fifteen pieces phasing through overhead roof in a gale of otherworldly giggles.
When they were left alone, King Boo turned to Mario to gauge his reaction. It didn’t disappoint, the ramifications of what he’d said clearly dawning on him. King Boo cackled. “Now that’s a face worth mounting on my wall! Let’s keep it that way, shall we?”
Mario opened his mouth to protest, when a blast of violet energy from King Boo’s crown suddenly halted him. Mario's portrait lost all color, motion, and consciousness, paralyzed and wide eyed. The perfect preservation of a moment of true fear.

I Simp for peach and bowser XD now I’m wondering how would it go if their were Yandere rivals who trying to win the reader hand in married 🤣 would their still be rivals or work together and come a poly 😝
I am such a Bowser fan so sure, lol. I need to give Peach some attention on here anyways. This is general but leans more game-based.
Yandere! Peach vs Bowser
Pairing: Romantic - Rivalry
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Manipulation, Kidnapping, Mentions of marriage, Forced marriage, Rivalry, Jealousy, Obsession, Forced relationship implied, Violence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is actually a pretty neat pairing.
You most likely knew Peach first and you're a "human" (?) like her.
You are close friends with the princess and her valiant heroes, Mario and Luigi.
Her obsession would be more likely to spark first as she doesn't need to kidnap you to fall for you.
You just visit her castle for chat and she can't help but fall for your voice.
Peach often plans to bake you cakes and you two are usually seen alone.
You just like to think you're best friends with the princess, completely unaware of her dark intentions when she looks at you.
You're so innocent... you don't have a clue she intends to marry you in the future.
Peach would be Manipulative, Caring, Obsessive, Delusional, Patient, Protective, yet Temperamental at times.
This is different than Bowser, who's Possessive, Impatient, Protective, Caring, Persistent, and Intimidating.
Although the two DO share the Protective and Caring trait despite their differences.
Due to them sharing this trait, when the rivalry eventually starts, they theoretically could share.
That's challenged by Bowser's impatient and possessive trait, however.
How this may start is with Peach, as said before.
The princess had fallen for you when she first met you.
You had helped the Mushroom Kingdom a few times before from other threats such as Bowser.
You didn't often fight but you did hand the two plumber brothers info you could snag.
Since then you often visited Peach, either invited or checking in to make sure she's safe.
Peach finds your care for her flattering.
You don't just care for her as a princess... you care for her as a close friend and ally.
The princess often tries to make herself look her best around you and always asks what your favorite treats are.
If you don't like cake she tries to practice making other things.
Peach is a yandere who thrives on physical contact.
Expect to be bombarded with hugs and friendly kisses on the cheek or forehead as greeting.
It's her form of getting the hint across.
Peach often bribes you to stay in her castle, using the excuse of you making her feel safe.
Peach would he manipulative due to the power she has in her kingdom.
If she did ask for your hand in marriage, there's a lot of pressure on you.
For the most part Peach is subtle with her manipulation.
She wants to make you fall for her without forcing a betrothal first.
Peach is incredibly caring to your needs.
She has wealth and a spacious castle... completely surrounded by mushroom servants loyal to her orders.
Don't you feel at home here?
She can get you whatever you wish... all the gifts and affection you could ever want....
She's patient yet delusional.
If you turned her down when she asks for your hand, she excuses it as you being shy or nervous.
It's fine if you're not ready yet...
She can wait until you are!
Although... constant/frequent rejection can make her irritated.
She may hit a breaking point if you keep ignoring her.
Lastly, Peach is protective.
For good reason, too, as soon she'll realize she's not the only one in danger...
Turns out, Bowser doesn't want Peach as his little special one now.
Which should be a relief to the princess, right?
Wrong.
That's because she learns you're his new target.
Bowser's obsession probably starts more after he kidnaps you.
Maybe he met you when you were helping Mario and Luigi one time and couldn't stop thinking about you?
The Koopa King is lonely... normally he kidnaps Peach to help with that.
But maybe his attempts with you will be different?
This could go two different ways.
Bowser kidnaps just you...or he kidnaps Peach and you by accident, which sparks his obsession.
If he kidnaps just you, it becomes very similar to the Bowser concept here.
He intends to have you help with his children and keep him company.
He is awfully impatient with waiting for you to love him.
Once he's attached he dreads the idea of letting you go or giving you up.
He's also protective, especially when Mario and Luigi show up to take you back.
Despite his intimidating strength, height, and persistent behavior... he's caring.
He truly just wants affection, and unlike Peach, you may just give it to him.
He had no idea the reason Peach didn't reciprocate was because she liked you.
Bowser isn't mad at you for stealing Peach's attention... he understands, honestly.
But now he's mad at the princess, causing the rivalry.
If you were the only one kidnapped, Peach will help Mario and Luigi to save you.
Peach's determination surprised the brothers when she asked to help get you back.
They probably don't know how obsessive she is with you.
Peach is determined to drag you back from that overgrown lizard no matter what happens.
Meanwhile, Bowser is determined to defend you and your "relationship" with his life.
He's already planned a wedding outfit for the both of you and gave flowers!
Then there's if he accidentally kidnaps you both.
This way keeping you is unintentional, but Peach desperately pleads with Bowser not to hurt you.
So he relents and allows your presence.
This is another way he can become obsessed.
Originally he thinks Peach is the one for him.
He pours all of his affection and attention into Peach, said princess ignoring it in favor of pouring hers into you.
At first, Bowser doesn't notice the attraction Peach has for you.
That is until he falls for you and notices how Peach acts around you.
How could he be so blind?
Peach loves you... but you don't love her like that...
Which means he must have a chance!
Expect fighting when they both find out they have a crush on you.
It's mostly verbal but they certainly don't get along.
Peach screams that he'll hurt you by accident!
Bowser growls that she's been so rude to him, she has Mario and Luigi, why does she need to have you?
They both want to marry you, a choice that intimidates you.
Peach promises you'll be her adored royal consort in the Mushroom Kingdom!
Everyone will love you.
Bowser claims, with a bit of an ego, that you'll be the fearsome consort of his Koopa Kingdom!
Everyone will fear you and him!
Peach wants to dress you in white with fire flowers for your wedding...
Bowser wants you in white too, but with pirahna plants for your wedding...
They fight and fight.
When Mario and Luigi eventually show up for the rescue of you and the princess, they're met with the two arguing over you.
They're confused but try to rescue you both anyways.
Even if they shared they'd still have fights over wedding plans and lack of attention.
The two royals would probably war with each other over something as simple as who you like more.
Truth is, after what you've seen, you're scared of both.
It's best you move away or hide someplace, honestly.
If you run from them who knows when they'll stop chasing you.
This rivalry could tear kingdoms apart... it's best you try to stay out of it in the end.
"Love, why do you look so scared? Bowser's the bad guy here... I'm just trying to make you happy!"
"Dear, don't look so sad... our kingdom will be the best in the land with you on my side!"

Got another idea.
Pretty sure King Boo didn't even acknowledge the prisoners being lowered down to the lava pit during the wedding in the movie but what if he did? What if he had acknowledged Luigi whilst trapped in his cage and stuck around to see him survive when being so close to death and took an interest in him at that point? This would make their interaction in the first LM game a lot different.
King Boo didn't care for weddings.
Celebrations for mortal milestones felt ridiculous at best and offensive at worst for ghosts. Why would weddings, birthdays, coming of age, graduations matter when death and eternity inevitably came? Time claimed all in the end. To highlight its passage felt almost insulting. The only way ghosts found interest in such frivolity was by either repeating such events indefinitely in their loops of obsession, or by halting them forever, tricking time itself.
King Boo was of the latter category, when he deigned to bother with such nonsense. His collection of painting held many mortals stuck forever in their most terrifying or joyful moments. Works of art, all of them.
But the actual events...Umph. Not to mention the bright and joyful emotions displayed at such celebrations tasted mushy and soppy. Give him a good, crisp fright anytime.
Yet despite his distaste for them, he had bothered to show up to the Koopa King's wedding.
Firstly because Bowser, as loud and boisterous as he was, was still an useful ally, at least enough to stay on his good side.
Secondly because despite what Bowser claimed, it was obvious to all that his future bride hated his guts. A welcome change from the syrupy sentiments usually dripped from marriages.
Thirdly, and most importantly, because Koopas had the finest wedding tradition for their warriors : a ritual sacrifice of their prisonners of war. And of course, as their king, Bowser spared no expenses.
Dozens of captives to be slowly lowered in lava to be burned alive. All of them helplessly watching their doom unfold. Different heights for the cages so they could watch their companions of misfortune die one by one before their turn came.
The cocktail of abject terror and despair oozing from the sacrifice tasted perfect.
And on top of that, there were different toppings! Penguins, Kongs, Yoshis, even Koopas! With a Luma without a care about their death to spice it up!
And even a human! Now that was one unexpected surprise! King Boo had been dead for a long time and yet had not met many humans in all of his afterlife. But now Bowser was marrying one, while murdering in front of her the only members of her species she would probably ever meet!
Truly, Bowser was a Koopa of taste.
So now King Boo observed with attention as the cages were lowered, not caring in the slightest for whatever nonsensical vows would be exchanged. His attention was all on the captives. Which ones would scream the loudest? Which ones would go insane before death claimed them? Which ones would see their souls turn into Boos?
...Could humans turn into Boos? Oooh, that was an interesting question! Would it be stronger? Weaker? Would its sould fuse with another species before creating a Boo?
Now King Boo was truly captivated. To the point of ignoring completely the princess' little meltdown and ensuing brawl: when a Koopa spear traversed him, he only shrugged and floated away. If Bowser couldn't bring to heel his new bride, that was his business.
Instead he leisurely flew closer to the cages, noting with pleasure the human's was the lowest of all. He would be the first to die, followed closely by the Kong King. Oh, it made his teeth grow sharper from hunger. Just a little lower...
The cages stopped and King Boo scowled. Bowser couldn't have changed his mind, could he? Thankfully, it seemed the Koopa wasn't this weak; instead, the princess had frozen the pulley of the cages in a desperate attempt at saving their lives.
Cute. But it wouldn't be enough, King Boo noted with a nasty smile as he turned invisible and slipped through the cracks of the ice, slowly breaking it apart. Not all at once, so he could enjoy the panic off the princess when she noticed.
Uncaring of King Bob-omb exploding, King Boo watched in delight the cages lowering once again. Oh, the human's fear was the strongest, the loudest, and yet he was fighting the hardest, struggling in every way possible to delay the inevitable, even as the bottom of his cage melted away, then the lower bars, then the middle ones...
His terror tasted so good, so raw, so pure. King Boo, eyes darkening, tongue lolling out, saliva dripping between his fangs, only wished he had a frame to capture this moment, bottling the abject horror of the human and stretching it for eternity.
So close, so close...
And then the cages stopped.
And rose up.
And the human managed to get out of his cage and- and even start to climb up!
Was he denied?? Was he deprived of his food ?! Right when he was on the verge of bliss? He glowered at the Kong pulling on the lever, teeth grinding, ready to grab him and throw him in the lava.
But before he could make a move, a scream made him turn, along with a brief zest of hope crushed by complete panic.
He had slipped! That fool had slipped! Glee filled him as he watched the human plummet to his doom, screaming the whole way down. At least one of the prisonners would die, and it would be a pure flavour of a soul, untouched by any other. He was about to see a new kind of Boo! He would..
What happened next too him a moment to register. Something flew so fast by him he didn't have time to react, and it collided with the human. No, it snatched him! And took him away!
It stole his food! His delicacy! His Boo-to-be! How dare he! Furious, he followed after this -this thief!
Which turned out to be...another human? Wait, how many of them were they?! But it didn't matter, since now his delicious morsel of fright had turned into a mushy paste of hope and love and fuzzy feelings.
Urgh. Disgusting.
Such a waste.
He was tempted to rush the group and tear through the slush of happiness just out of spite. Better a spoiled meal than none. But looking around, it seemed that he had underestimated the princess and her allies. Bowser was frozen in ice, his troops knocked out or scattered, the wedding alley ruined.
And if he didn't fear mortal attacks or power-ups, disposing of them would be too much a hassle. At least that was his excuse to get away when Bowser launched the Bomber Bill, then as he watched from afar while the entire castle was sucked into the Warp Pipe.
Too bad.
Really, really too bad.
Such a fine buffet, all ruined, all spoiled.
He would need to find the other human again. Make sure to teach him the consequences of angering King Boo.
As for the green one...
His fear tasted so fine.
But maybe the other one would taste even better?
Or both together?
He would need to try.

"A Green Queen" AU
Chapter X
The large silver spiked double doors intimidated the small plumber. Despite saying he'd see him, Luigi had taken his days looking into Bowser's health and doing his best to tighten up his army along the borders of the Darklands.
Every waking hour a new problem would arise.
Whether it was allies having scheduled meetings with Bowser that he'd have to postpone or spending hours in the ship's study looking for any knowledge on Bowser's current state.
He hadn't been able to sleep well and when he did he'd be woken up from dozing off at the desk Kamek had crafted for him.
Yet here he was now, at the infirmary, ready to speak with his brother again after.... everything that happened at the palace. A koopa troopa informed him that he'd "woken up" from whatever spell he was under and Luigi ordered that they didn't say anything about what happened to him at the palace.
He took a deep breath, shook his fists in preparation and with a slight nod, the guards pulled the door open.
Luigi walked in, his fists still clenched close to his body, and his face filled with anxiety. A few goombas were tending to a sluggish Mario, whose hands were shaking as he lifted the cup up to his lips. He shakily moved it away once his brother entered the room.
"L-Lu", he croaked. "Whe..."
Luigi restrained himself from running over, his eyes filled with tears as he got closer. "I'm sorry.."
"Lu..", Mario repeated. He tried to reach out to invite him in for a hug, but stumbled in the bed.
"I should've visited you once you woke up, but Bowser is-! A-And I'm all they have left- and I'm trying so hard not to hurt anyone else!"
Mario sighed and pulled his brother over weakly, "H..Hey, o-one at a time.."
Luigi sank into his brother's arms and they stayed in that position for a few minutes before pulling away. Mario scooted over in the sheets and patted the empty space beside him for Luigi to get in.
The goomba and nurse koopa in the room glanced in silence as their queen got into the bed, sniffling.
"N-Now.. what's wrong?", Mario coughed.
Luigi gave him a worried look, he bit his lip and started to dig into his scar concealed by his sleeve. Mario took his hands, shaking, and gave them a light squeeze as he looked Luigi in the eyes.
His brother took a deep breath then turned towards the others in the room, "Could you leave us in here for a moment? I'll call you back once we're done.. You all deserve a break anyways.."
The others nodded, slightly confused, but filed out and closed the door.
Luigi looked at his side before gazing up at his brother, "A.. Um... Hehe, I didn't think it would be so hard to talk about this."
Mario looked a bit confused but kept their hands rested on his knees.
"It hasn't even been a full month yet, and I've already caused several...", Luigi started. He tried to gather his thoughts, but every time he started one, something else came to mind.
"H-How about we star-t with your outfit?"
"What?"
"You, in a spiked c-collar? Definitely not your style-"
"Yeah, it is a bit much, b-but Kamek thought it would give me some edge.", he shrugged. "He's truly been helpful when it comes to this royal stuff..."
"That too."
"What do you mean?"
"You're speaking like royalty, m-y little brother's getting blue-eblood!", Mario chuckled. Luigi rolled his eyes and pushed his shoulder a bit.
"Yeah yeah! Such nobility~", Luigi snorted. He puffed up his chest a bit as he spoke.
The two gave a glance to one another before laughing. It provided the light air the little royal needed as the tension died down.
"It hasn't been easy though, we're almost to the Darklands and I have no idea what to tell his citizens..."
"What are you talking a-about?"
"Bowser is.... unconscious..? Dead?", Luigi combed a hand through his hair as he searched for an answer. "Kamek is still trying to figure it out, but-"
"If he's gone.. w-we can leave!"
Luigi looked up from their hands and at his brother, "We can't just-"
"Yes we can! I-If he's dead then the agreement is voi-d, y-you can just, we can go! You don't have to worry about this, any of this!", Mario smiled. His grip tightened around Luigi's hand as he spoke more on how to escape.
The thought of him leaving all of the pain behind, all of the worries, just to return back to the adventure filled life in the Mushroom kingdom made his heart jump.
He desperately wanted to run, to take his brother's hand and lead him to the port where they could escape home. Where they would flee to the princess to tell her that this might be the fall of Bowser's reign and she can finally be at ease.
No dangers, no hurt.
Yet a flash of Bowser looking at the stars so blissfully, the way he told him about his children so fondly, and his small acts of kindness. He couldn't help but at least feel proud of his small effort to comfort him.
"Luigi, we should go-"
"No..."
Mario's eyes winced with hurt, but he tried to conceal the shaking in his hands. "Lu, I know that.... tortuga, has been hospi-itable, but you don't have to clean up his me-ss! W-We can talk about the deta-ils later jus-"
"I said no!", Luigi repeated. He tightened his hands around from his brother's, leaving Mario stunned. "He has kids a-and as much as he's shitty, as much as every bone in my body..my soul, my mind is telling me to take us out of here... I can't."
"I-I don't understand, we can leave! Luigi, we can sprint thro-ugh those doors an-"
"No, you can barely walk and I am... I can't leave these citizens to-", Luigi took a deep breath. He could see Mario's eyes searching for answers through his own. "If the princess neede-"
"Don't you d-"
"No, listen. Would you abandon the mushroom kingdom if the princess no longer...lived?"
"Th-at's different! She's not a t-tyrant!"
"Would you?! Would you leave once everything burned after she passed?!"
Mario turned away as the two sat in silence. Luigi's anger became still, he could see his brother didn't want to respond or knew just how stubborn he got when he was wrong. He decided to move on to something he wanted definite answers for:
"Why were you in Sarasaland?"
Mario flinched and averted looking at Luigi, his body trembled a bit as he broke into a sweat, looking for a reasonable excuse.
The little royal blinked and asked again. "How did you end up-"
"Vacation."
Luigi's eyes narrowed, "Mario..."
"I-I'm serious!", he coughed as he turned to him. It was the biggest mistake he made once he saw an unknown sterness in his brother's eyes.
He sighed as he gripped the sheets, "I heard that you.... he alwa-ys goes through scheduled meetings for his al-llies. I-I promise it was j-ust to check u-p on you! Y-You...I-I wasn't going to interfere. I couldn't if I wante-d to."
The last sentence worried him, "What.. happened?"
"A friend... few acquaintances of mine and I were entering. I-I wanted to s-ee if you we-re ok, but we were taken by some guards, then some...creature appeared? Its laugh... everything got blurry after we were attacked by lions?", Mario stuttered, he was desperately trying to recollect, but Luigi simply rested his hand on his shoulder.
"You went back on the agreement I made with Bowser, and furthermore you...betrayed my trust, bro.", Luigi slipped out of the bed. "However, that's why I can't leave. That 'creature', you might've met was Prince Khufo and he... he killed Bowser."
Mario's shaking stopped, "That...."
He couldn't understand it, someone so small, someone he could simply punch out, defeated him and Bowser so easily. He clenched his shirt as the realization kicked in.
'He could've killed...me, and what about Lu?! What is he getting himself into! We need to find a superstar quickly, if we get home and talk with the princess. Maybe she coul- Wait...Daisy..'
"W-Was it just me?! Was there anyone else in the rubble?!"
Luigi turned to him, "What do you mean? Oh, your acquaintances.. No, we were trying to get out of the palace as soon as possible, we didn't have time to check too much of the area."
"I'm going back- wa-it no, you need to come wit-h me! No..no, we need to-o warn the p-"
"Mario, you're barely in any shape to leave the bed and we're miles away from the empire.. "
"Lu, you don't und-erstand how much this co-ould hurt the pri-ncess, a-and the ki-ngdo-om "
"What do you mean I don't understand?"
"This is much bigger than what-"
"You don't think I know that?! Mario, I'm running an ENTIRE KINGDOM by myself in preparation for war! I witnessed the ONLY other being able to keep this army in line, get KILLED before my eyes while you laid there lifeless! Do you know how hopeless I felt having to watch them carry his mangled body, guts, and shell pieces away!? Do you know how hard it was to hear citizens, SOLDIERS that only know you for how much you've fought them chant your name in hopes you'll lead them to some sort of victory?! How can you possibly understand, the press-"
A loud knock came from the door.
"Your highness?", Kamek called.
Luigi turned to it then back at Mario, whose face softened a bit, not from pride but from sorrow.
"Mario, I'm sorr-"
"N-No, it's fine. I should probably finish th-he tea th-en rest some more. G-Go take care of your kingdom."
"I didn't mean to snap, I've been stressed and-"
Mario turned to pick up the cup shakily, "I may not run a k-kingdom.. b-but I kn-ow ho-w hard it is to h-have ey-es on you... pra-ying and hoping tha-t you'll save them. We both kn-ow that better than anyone."
Luigi opened his mouth to speak, but just turned towards the door. Kamek was about to knock again, but the door opened and creaked close as Luigi stepped out.
Mario lifted the tea to his lips again, "But you're jus-t as stubb-orn as I am and probably a stro-nger leader..."
The ship descended onto the lava port of the cobblestone castle. At the entrance of the large wooden doors were Junior and Ludwig, the smallest running inside to get the others.
Luigi frantically rubbed his hands as he and Kamek wait at the entrance. He flinched a bit as the mouth of the ship opened and shielded his eyes from the light. When he got a clear view, most of Bowser's children were running towards the ship in anticipation.
"Pap-...a?", Junior paused, his steps slowed once he saw the two standing there.
Morton still bolted forward and hugged Kamek, his excitement got the better of him and he already charged up too quick to stop.
"Hi hi!", he laughed.
Kamek gave a painful smile, he's forgotten how big the koopaling was. "Could you put me down?.. Please?"
Morton nodded as he rubbed his cheek against Kamek's once more before putting him down.
Ludwig stepped past the two adults with Wendy, they looked around, sniffing in intervals.
"Where's Papa?", Junior asked. He looked past Luigi to Wendy, who was shaking her head.
Luigi followed his gaze then turned to Junior, "I.. We need to explain-"
"Kamek, where's Papa?!", he yelled. His voice got shakier once he turned to the old koopa.
"We... Your father is, in need of special care, Junior. I can't explain everything, heck, I'm still trying to piece everything together myself. Rest assured, Luigi here is going to take care of you all and kingdom in his absence."
"You really expect us to listen to him?", Roy stepped forward. "He could barely handle an insult and isn't he our prisoner?!"
"W-Well given the circumstances he-"
"I second this.", Lemmy padded forward. "If Pa is hurt why don't you heal him? We can't rely on twiggy here. All offense!"
Luigi blinked, "None tak- wait.."
The kids began to pile in their own opinions, one talking over the other as they swarmed around Kamek. Luigi watched on the sidelines, a sweat broke from his forehead as he watched Kamek become overwhelmed.
What could he do? They wouldn't listen even if he tried, then it hit him.
"I did it?", He mumbled.
Ludwig stopped investigating and looked over at Luigi, but the others were still bickering.
"HEY!"
They stopped. Wendy squinted her eyes as she waited for him to calm his breath.
Luigi gripped the fabric above his chest, "Y-Your Papa is hurt because he tried to save me... he can't just be healed and I... I caused it. B-But I want to make things right, he..."
The queen trailed off as he looked up at the conflicted faces. Kamek took that moment to step in front of Luigi, "What his highness is trying to say is the situation is dire. Your father is in a terrible state, something my magic and spells can't fix right now, but I promise you it wasn't entirely his fault. We'll try to explain this as soon as we can, but the wounds are fresh at the moment and we have bigger things to attend to. Despite the lack of... formalities, Luigi is in line to rule at the moment, we.. we need to prepare for the worst, so please for your father's sake. Let him help."
Luigi smiled a bit at Kamek's faith in him then turned his attention to the koopalings. Morton tried his best to grasp the situation, he glanced down at Iggy for support but was met with horror, so he tensed up.
"No.", Ludwig stated. "I refuse to listen to him. Right?". He turned to the others.
Wendy nodded, "He's barely been here for a month, if Pa is injured then we can wai-"
Luigi stiffened as he became impatient with their defiance. Something similar to his brother's denial, his eyes glared at her and Ludwig as he spoke clearly.
"He's dead."
The entrance was silent, Luigi snapped back once he realized what he said and looked at the horror on their faces and they quickly turned to anger.
Kamek winced as he acted quickly, he took his wand out and held Junior in place with his magic. Luigi tumbled back as the koopaling's claw was inches away from his chest.
"I-I didn't... I..", Luigi gripped his clothes tighter as he tried to catch his breath.
Kamek looked at Ludwig, "I know you're upset, but if we fight amongst ourselves, we'll only fall faster. We will explain everything later. At the moment, Luigi needs to attend to some matters and we need to get some documentation signed. Can you handle not trying to maul him for the night?"
Ludwig folded his arms and lifted his head, "Fine."
Kamek sighed, he kept Junior in place and turned to Luigi for instructions.
Luigi gulped but stood up and ordered that none of the children were allowed on the ship or allowed to see Bowser unless he or Kamek felt it was right to accompany them there. He would want them to see Bowser's state, especially with how grotesque and bloodied he was.
Kamek nodded, "You heard him, off to your rooms."
The group hesitated, Larry glanced around at his siblings only to see Ludwig and Wendy be the first to exit. As the two passed Luigi, each gave him a long stare, they eyed him up and down before giving disapproved snorts. The rest followed, they murmured and whispered to each other on their way back to the castle.
Luigi gave a sigh of relief and stood up as he looked at Junior's body. "You can let him go.."
"But your highness, he's still upset."
"I know.."
Kamek didn't understand but simply nodded and placed Junior down. Junior gasped but stood up slowly, keeping eye contact with Luigi.
The queen took a deep breath and reached out his hand to Junior. "I want to take you to him. I'll explain while we walk. If that's ok?"
Junior looked at his hand then up at him, "Ok, but I don't want to hold your hand."
Luigi retracted, "O-Oh, right..". He still smiled a bit seeing the young prince not completely be indifferent to him or at least not trying to kill him. He gave a bit of an excited smile to Kamek who simply nodded and followed Luigi on the other side.

Since certain koopa-type enemies in Superstar Saga would get healed by firebrand instead of hurt by it, maybe they'd be less hurt if hurt at all by a more supercharged version of the power. Is there any way any of Mario's koopa allies could be of help?
Regarding my recent drawing here :]
Whoa, really?? I haven't played through all of Superstar Saga, so I had no idea. This definitely makes it so that they're the key to helping Mario out.
I don't think Mario and friends would know that information at first though. Taking this from one of my favorite fanfics, but I think it'd be interesting if there was little to no knowledge of the Firebrand and Thunderhand powers in the Mushroom Kingdom.
They would probably have to find that out through first-hand experience in some way (that I'd have to think more about regarding the specifics haha).
While she did promise him, Peach would probably be having trouble actually helping out Mario. So once they come across this, she's very relieved :)

Name: Koopa the Sluggish
Debut: Super Mario 64
Huh? We forgot the picture for this post? Oh, no, not at all! He is there. Let me help you.
Tumblr media
There he is! There’s our buddy!
Tumblr media
You know Koopa the Quick! He’s a Koopa, he’s quick, and he’s big! Isn’t it strange, that he’s the only unique Koopa Troopa character in the entire game? Well he’s NOT! You silly unobservant goose. Sorry for calling you that. But there IS another Koopa who has been under our noses the whole time! Scientists have only recently discovered him while observing live Super Mario 64 tissue samples.
Tumblr media
Do you see him? I don’t. He is microscopic. But he is here! Koopa the Sluggish! Mario is not just avoiding a rock here, but unbeknownst even to him, he is engaged in a race. A race with the smallest Koopa of all!
You see, when Koopa the Quick was born, he was far from the only one of his clutch. A bunch of eggs at once! That’s turtles! But one egg was empty. Unfortunate, but it happens, right? It would seem inevitable that some embryos just wouldn’t develop... but the thing is, this one did. And it was the smallest embryo in the world! Slipped right through the cells of the shell, and had to fend for itself in the microscopic world before even properly developing!
Tumblr media
When you are this small, a whole lot of things want to eat you. And so, Koopa the Sluggish runs. He runs and runs and runs, maybe stops to nibble a diatom, then runs and runs and runs some more. It honestly feels disrespectful to call him sluggish with how much work he has to put into his constant fight for survival! But that’s what the Prima guidebook called him, and so that is all we got. Yeah, he’s significantly slower than Mario. But of course he is, at this scale! Instead of belittling him, how about we recognize his feats! He has to run and jump across bacteria just to get anywhere! That’s even more platforming in his daily life than Mario does. You know what they call bacteria! Nature’s platforming!
Koopa the Sluggish is one of those characters who just cannot get a break. He really deserves some more love! I know this is a lot to ask, but, try to make sure you don’t inhale him, it’s very easy to do but he hates that. Thank you! Hopefully we can get this Weird Mario Character the respect he should have had since 1996!
Tumblr media
Never mind he was just eaten by an amoeba :( Sorry

Okay, Mario Fandom, hear me out.
@elitadream @akiiame-blog @palskippah I hope you don't mind me tagging you again!
I know we don't have anything modern and concrete about Peach's parents, but hear me out about this poly crackship I've developed:
Toadsworth x the King and Queen of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Imagine Toadsworth, a staunch ally of the Toadstool Royal Family since the matriarch and patriarch wandered into the Mushroom World (some people fan-call it Nin, if I recall correctly), falling in love with them.
(I like to think Toadsworth has the charisma to get with anyone, maybe even having a slew of past partners, but choosing King and Queen Toadstool in the end.)
Imagine the Queen getting pregnant. Imagine the day Peach was born. Imagine the day Toadsworth saw his youngest ward for the first time, and bursting into great tears that never quite washed out of his bowtie. Imagine Toadsworth watching his princess grow up.
Imagine the Koopa Kingdom declaring war on the Mushroom Kingdom. Imagine Toadsworth helping the King and Queen as best he can protect his home, their home, their kingdom, all the while biting down the feelings he never had for anyone else in his life. Star Spirits know they have more on their plate than I'd wish on anyone. They have a kingdom to run and another to fend off - professing my affections for them aren't going to do any of us any good.
Imagine the day Toadsworth's lord and lady were ambushed while on a walk with him, blasted with a deadly spell by Magikoopa. Imagine Toadsworth and his fellow stewards poring over every book of magic they have available, seeing if there's a counter-spell, a cure, anything to keep the pain away from their eyes.
Imagine the day Toadsworth lost them.
Imagine Peach becoming Toadsworth's raison d'être, because while the whole kingdom mourned, nobody grieved quite as much as him and the Princess. Imagine the night that Peach woke Toadsworth up screaming from a nightmare. Imagine Toadsworth fervently promising her he won't leave her for as long as he draws breath.
Imagine Toadsworth picking himself up every day for the sole purpose of making sure Peach wouldn't be alone or unprepared to lead the kingdom when the fateful day he couldn't hold out any longer came.
Imagine Mario and Luigi appearing in the Mushroom Kingdom. Imagine Toadsworth seeing everything he and his lord and his lady were and could have been in Mario and his princess, and deciding he deserves nothing less a Game Over in the deepest pit the Underwhere can find if he can't get those two together before he's gone.
Imagine the day Mario and Peach get their acts together. Imagine the day Mario asks Toadsworth's permission to marry Peach. Imagine the wedding, and Mario being nervous Peach will back out. Imagine Toadsworth telling him his side of the story about Peach's parents, and that neither he nor Peach nor Luigi would let Mario hear the end of any cold feet.
Imagine Toadsworth and Mario's mama and papa getting drunk on the best liquor they could find on Earth, crying about their children and how far they've come.
Imagine when Peach tells Toadsworth they're expecting, if you'd like to headcanon that they have kids. Imagine him freaking out for all the best and worst reasons for the next nine months, the fretting not stopping until his grandchild is asleep and swaddled up in their Mama and Papa's arms.
Imagine Toadsworth holding his grandchild (grandchild, yes; Peach and Mario made it clear Toadsworth was their nonno) for the first time, wishing with all his heart that the man and the woman who he loved and never had enough bravery nor got enough time to tell them are able to see him and Peach from the Overthere.

A Thousand Years As Dragons
A Mario x Zelda Tears of the Kingdom AU (SPOILERS FOR TOTK)
- In this AU, some beings are blessed with sacred power. In this instance, the Star Children play a predominate role in place of the Triforce, and are beings whose spirits are reborn throughout time. Bowser is an embodiment of dark hatred.
- One day, Peach, Toad, Mario, and Luigi are investigating a disturbance under the Mushroom Kingdom.
- What they discover is an incarnation of Bowser from a distant past, imprisoned in a cocoon by a Power Star with two fragments missing. The Dark Koopa King awakens and breaks free. The Dark Koopa King seems to recognise Mario and Luigi, and even recalls Peach's name (despite the latter three never meeting this version). With his power, he easily overthrows the bros, disables their firebrand and thunderhand powers, enveloping the Mushroom Kingdom castle and sending it into the sky.
- At the same time, Kamek, a servant who is resurrected by Dark King Bowser, sends Mario and Luigi back in time using a powerful time travelling spell. Peach remains behind, devastated over the loss of her friends.
- The bros end up thousands of years in the Mushroom Kingdom's distant past. Discovered by a wizard named Merlon, the bros ask him to return them to their time; but Merlon tells them that the spell requires many years of perfection, and as of his current skills, it can only work on one person at a time. He tells the bros that there may be another way to get them back to the future together.
- Meanwhile, Peach, having escaped with Toad from the now floating castle, and ending up on floating islands high above the kingdom, is investigating how to get the bros back to the present and defeat Dark Koopa Bowser. She comes across notes from a person called Merlon.
- Suddenly she notices two dragons in the sky, one red, and one green, who she does not recall ever seeing before. The notes tell her that those dragons are important, and she must follow clues to discover why.
- Back in the past, the bros and Merlon meet up with the Bowser from the past - who at this point is not the monster from the future, but still exerts a lust for power. Eventually, Bowser grows tired of waiting for control, and a battle ensues between the Koopa King, his army, Merlon, an army of allies from the Mushroom Kingdom, and the bros. Merlon uses the kingdom's Power Star to seal Bowser away - as a result of sealing Bowser, the Power Star chips off two fragments.
- With Bowser sealed, and the future still in danger, the bros are desperate to get back to save Peach. Merlon informs them that with their firebrand and thunderhand powers disabled, they would not be able to win even if they could get back.
- However, there is one way, but it is risky. Merlon explains that the firbrand and thunderhand powers are a form of ancient magic.
“A power that is wounded and was originally gifted by the Stars, will take thousands of years to return to its full potential.”
- Merlon states that the bros need this amount of time to restore their powers. And the only way to achieve this is through "Draconification" - a spell only achieved through eating Power Star fragments. However, once transformed, the person can live forever, but will forget who they are, doomed to drift aimlessly with no end...
- Mario volunteers to become a dragon, and asks Merlon to send Luigi back using the time spell. But Luigi won't hear of it. Mario tells him that he'll be safe, and it won't even be long! It will just be seconds to Luigi! But truthfully, he can't let Luigi lose himself, and the time spell can't take them both...
- Luigi knows Mario's true thoughts, and pulls him close, foreheads pressed together and says
“I can’t let you do this alone, Mario. I’m with you, no matter what. Nothing can hurt us. As long as we're together."
- And Mario doesn’t speak. Just holding Luigi closer…
- Merlon gives them the Power Star fragments, as well as some gemstones to further amplify their powers (it will ensure victory, as he ominously says) and the Bros decide to do this alone…together.
- They stand outside, far on the edge of the village, and swallow the fragments at the same time.
- Only a few seconds later, they are overcome by agonising pain. As they are surrounded by a bright light, terrified, they cling together, refusing to let each other go for a second.
- "Luigi”, Mario chokes out.
“I’m here.”
- And with that, the Bros transform into the Fire Dragon and the Thunder Dragon, their bodies coiling around each other as they rise into the sky….
A thousand years pass and the people of the land tell stories about two dragons that fly the skies together. No one knows where they came from, other than the dragons are never seen apart….
And that is the the general outline of the AU. I will be happy to add more in time!

Mario had a terrible feeling in the pit of his stomach long before he came home to find the house trashed and his brother missing, a halfway completed dinner strewn about the dented floor and smashed furniture. Naturally, Bowser was the first suspect, even if Luigi’s disappearance lacked the Koopa King’s usual showmanship. Whenever he stole something or someone he always made a scene, gloating and threatening, making his angle clear. This was the argument Bowser made when Mario fought his way into the heart of The Darklands, demanding his brother back. The King even allowed the plumber to search his dungeon unhindered, so long as he didn’t do any more damage or hurt any more minions. Sure enough, the search came up empty. Not even a scrap of green fabric could be found. A call to Elvin Gadd confirmed that King Boo was still in captivity. He had no guess as to what had happened, or who else Luigi might have made enemies with, but promised to investigate the matter himself. Princess Peach sent out a message to every ally she knew, asking for information regarding Mario’s missing brother. Sarasaland sent out a call of their own, as well as a few search parties, but no matter what reward was promised, or what powerful figures offered their services or support, all leads ultimately went nowhere.
As days passed into months, Mario stopped coming home, even after the horrible mess created amidst his brother’s abduction had been investigated and cleaned up. He stayed as close to The Mushroom Kingdom as necessary to keep Peach protected, but was often found in surrounding territories, peeking into hidden corners and asking questions. He was never inside when night fell, and instead laid sprawled out in open fields searching the skies for shooting stars. He knew the power of wishes. He intended to make as many as possible.

After seven months, Luigi was finally found. Captain Toad and his Treasure Trackers discovered an ancient underground temple hidden deep within mountains of jagged black stone, just outside of The Darklands. Before they realized the location was a secret meeting place for magikoopa rather than a cache of treasure, they found a familiar man in rotted green clothes lying unresponsive in a cell, shackled and barely breathing. At once they went for help while trying with all their might to carry his withered body back to The Mushroom Kingdom.
___
Once Luigi was safely delivered to the palace into the best care Princess Peach could offer, forces from The Mushroom Kingdom and Sarasaland alike raided the temple uncovered by Captain Toad. The magikoopa responsible never appeared, likely having heard word that their secret was unearthed, and wisely choosing not to risk their necks by returning to the scene. Bowser immediately went on the defensive, insisting that what happened to Luigi was outside of his jurisdiction. Mario’s brother had been found near The Darklands, not in The Darklands, and though his closest advisor was a magikoopa himself there were many others besides Kamek, who conducted their own business and research far outside of Bowser’s knowledge or control.
Books and journals were gathered and brought to The Mushroom Kingdom for further study. Their pages revealed that Luigi had been the subject of a long, grueling series of experiments, dealing with the darkest and most forbidden forms of magic. The magikoopa were trying to turn him into something– what it was was anyone’s guess, but a theory scrawled between the lines inferred that Luigi had some innate ability to attract dark forces– an ability that they wished to harness. What a joke. The mere idea would’ve been funny, had the results not been so horrible.

“Hey. Breathe, bro. They’re trying to help.” Mario spoke gently as he could, struggling to keep his brother still as the nurse toads changed his bandages. It was difficult for Mario to keep hold of his brother’s hand, only because he feared gripping it too hard would break it. Every bone could be counted through his skin, turned an ugly corpse-like color by the combined efforts of magic and complete seclusion from sunlight. What remaining hair hadn’t fallen out in clumps had turned from dark brown to an ugly grey. The blisters of ingrown restraints and festering incisions shone bright red in the first stages of healing as the bandages were pulled away and replaced with fresh ones, all the while Luigi struggled, the hand that Mario didn’t hold swatting away the intruding toads with a strength only made possible by panic.
It would’ve been easier if Luigi could only see. His sight should’ve returned by now. It was said that his vision would be perfectly restored within three days. The medical examiners couldn’t find any direct physical damage done to his eyes. “Then again, the true extent of the harm will only be understood in time,” a doctor explained somberly, “physical injury combined with magic of this sort could harbor unexpected consequences. All we can do is wait, see what heals, and treat whatever we can as it comes up.”
“Luigi! Calm down!” Mario took both of Luigi’s wrists, and placed his palms against his own face. The initial response was aggressive, blistered fingers with missing nails wrenching to fight back until at long last Luigi recognized the feel of the mustache and soft round cheeks. He shivered, but stopped fighting, tears filling his clouded eyes as the nurses took advantage of the moment of calm to quickly finish their work. “I’m here bro, I’m here.” Mario continued in a broken whisper, struggling not to cry himself. “Nothing’s gonna hurt you while I’m here, got it?”
Luigi didn’t speak. He hadn’t spoken since he had been found, but he nodded. For now, that was more than enough.
____
Mario wasn’t sure how long it would be until Luigi was deemed well enough to go home. Given what had happened the last time he was home, Mario was unsure if taking him back at all was a good idea.
But that was a problem for another time, and whatever concerns arose there was no doubt the princess would help however she could. When Luigi’s eyes finally developed to the point he could see large splotches of shape and color, Peach had his bed clothes changed from pink to green, and arranged to have some of the more opulent decorations exchanged for more simple, homey wooden furnishing. Every morning, the princess found time to personally bring Luigi’s breakfast, and every morning she asked him questions about his health and wellness, not minding at all if she was met with nothing but silence. She would later take Mario aside and ask similar questions, seeing to it both brothers' needs desires were met to the best of her abilities. That afternoon, the toads delivered boxes filled with books and trinkets that had been gathered from their home. After thanking them, Mario sat on a recliner next to Luigi’s bed and read aloud a hardcover fantasy he knew to be one of his brother’s favorites. Halfway through chapter four, he heard a raspy voice call up from the mound of jade-green cushions. “Hey, Mario?” Mario paused his reading, and bookmarked the page with his thumb. “Yeah, Luigi?” “Am I gonna be okay?” This was the fourth time he asked that today. When Luigi had finally regained his voice it was full of strange rhythmic repetition… statements and questions asked over and over and over again with little regard to the answers he received. Mario didn’t care. He was talking, that was something. He smiled, and answered the way he always did: “Heh, you’re doing better already.”
And that was the truth. The color was coming back to his face, his mustache was fuller, and his body had regained some of its old muscle and fat. Already Luigi was able to stand unattended, though he needed a cane in order to shuffle to his bedroom window and look out.
Luigi nodded and fell silent again. Mario opened the book back up and continued to read, not stopping until he heard a gentle snore of his brother gently drifting off to sleep.
