DAY 5675
Jalsa , Mumbai Aug 31/Sept 1, 2023 Thu/Fri 12:48 AM
Catching up a little late but the intention is not to prove immediacy but consistency .. life endures consistency , may be not always intention .. intentions are good if they materialise .. what if they don't are they garbaged .. no .. they have a maintain that is valuable too .. and that deserves respect and value ..
Consistency garners results at some point of time .. hopefully .. or maybe the same results all the time .. so what is wrong with that .. nothing .. life vacillates , as is well know .. and intent and consistency vacillate too .. we decide which to step on ..
I have decided ..
And I am not going to tell you ..😜
What I am proud as anything to tell you of is a review sent by a formal film reviewer ..
Mr Amitabh Bachchan, for the 1st time in your career.,your supremacy of being the number one actor in the universe has been challenged.
And you have been challenged by non other but by your son Abhishek Bachchan who has proved to be the able heir to your acting lineage.
He is the only competitor you have and now with Ghoomer he has emerged ahead of all his colleagues. one of the best cinematic masterpiece in recent times is Ghoomer
Balki has outdone himself with a great nuanced script and direction. Sayami Kher & Shabana Azmi the 2 ladies are just effortless and a special mention for Vishal Sinha, the cinematographer for capturing the delicate nuances of Balki's script and Cinematic Vision with a Great panache…. Abhishek Bachchan what a performance, you have hit it out of the park. This one is for all those people who wrote off Abhishek, he is shining the brightest in the colossal of stars in the universe. Watch Ghoomer to see how the heir apparent usurps the mantle from his own father
it is the moment a Father waits to hear from the outside World .. for me internally I have believed this always , but to see it getting endorsed from the outside world is the pride of a Father ..
there is another voice message that needs to be heard .. I am tryong to put iot up .. till then just revel, as I am in the accolades for GHOOMER and its cast and making ..
but for today some pictures at KBC
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
need to rest now .. its past sleeping time for the work load tomorrow .. so we say time to be rested .. and 😴
Love and more for the Ef family .. and the gratefulness for all the rakhi greetings which I could not acknowledge .. 🙏

Honoring the memory of #PrakashMehra, a remarkable filmmaker in Hindi cinema, on the 14th anniversary of his passing (17/05/2009).
He was among the trailblazers of masala films, alongside #NasirHussain and #ManmohanDesai. His collaborations with the actor #AmitabhBachchan resulted in numerous sensational hits and timeless masterpieces.
Mehra commenced his journey in the late 1950s as a production controller. In 1968, he helmed Haseena Maan Jayegi, featuring Shashi Kapoor in a captivating double role. Then, in 1973, he ventured into production and direction with Zanjeer. This exceptional collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan marked the beginning of a long-lasting and fruitful partnership, spanning seven more films. Among them, six emerged as blockbuster sensations: Hera Pheri, Khoon Pasina, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Lawaaris, Namak Halaal, and Sharaabi.
Their final joint project, Jaadugar, unfortunately faced a setback, concluding their streak of triumphs. Zanjeer holds the distinction of launching Bachchan's career as a leading actor, while Jaadugar was released during a transitional phase in Bachchan's illustrious journey.
Prakash Mehra also stood as one of the early Bombay directors who aspired to explore Hollywood. In the late eighties, he embarked on a collaborative endeavor with Frank Yandolino to bring The God Connection to life. This ambitious project aimed to include acclaimed Hollywood actors like Charles Bronson, among others. Despite substantial initial funding, the project ultimately remained unrealized.
Today, we remember Prakash Mehra's invaluable contributions to the world of cinema, his pioneering spirit, and the indelible mark he left on the industry.
In this photo (L to R): Producer Prakash Mehra, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Vinod Khanna, and Director Rakesh Kumar during the shoot of the movie Khoon Pasina (1977).

Shraddha Kapoor: A Journey from Debutante to Leading Lady
Tumblr media
Bollywood has been graced with many rising stars over the years, but few have captured both the Indian and international audience quite like Shraddha Kapoor. Known for her natural acting style and versatile skills, Shraddha's journey from a debutante to a leading lady in the Indian film industry is a remarkable narrative of talent, hard work, and charisma. This article traces the evolution of her illustrious career.
Launching a Dream: The Early Days
Born into a family with roots in the Indian cinema, Shraddha Kapoor's introduction to the world of acting was destined yet challenging. Making her debut in "Teen Patti" in 2010 alongside veteran actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shraddha showcased a glimpse of her acting potential despite the movie's lukewarm response.
The Breakthrough Moment
Shraddha's breakthrough came with Mohit Suri's romantic musical drama, "Aashiqui 2" in 2013. Her portrayal of the character 'Arohi', a young singer nurtured by a successful musician battling his inner demons, was praised by critics and audiences alike. The movie was a box-office hit, and Shraddha's convincing performance, combined with a soulful soundtrack, catapulted her to overnight fame. In many ways, this film marked her successful transition from a budding actor to an acknowledged talent.
Exploring Versatility
The following years saw Shraddha embracing a variety of roles that proved her versatility as an actress. In "Haider," a modern-day adaptation of Shakespeare's "Hamlet," Shraddha's compelling performance was widely appreciated. Similarly, her roles in "ABCD 2" and "Street Dancer 3D" showcased her dancing prowess, while her action-packed avatar in "Baaghi" highlighted her ability to handle diverse genres.
Emerging as a Leading Lady
Over time, Shraddha Kapoor has stood her ground as one of the industry's consistent performers, delivering hits like "Stree" and "Chhichhore". She continues to impress the audience with her skillful acting, expressive dance, and melodious singing, exemplifying her multi-dimensional talent.
Today, she commands a strong screen presence and is counted among Bollywood's leading ladies, working with some of the biggest names in the industry. She has not only earned a loyal fan base but also the respect of her peers and seniors in the fraternity.
Pursuing Excellence
Shraddha's pursuit of excellence in her craft hasn't been limited to acting. She's extended her talent to singing, lending her voice to several of her films. Always keen to take on new challenges and broaden her skillset, she symbolizes the modern, versatile actress who constantly evolves and refines her talent.
In Conclusion
Shraddha Kapoor's journey in the Indian film industry is a testament to her enduring dedication, ability to adapt, and her continual pursuit of excellence. As one of Bollywood's leading ladies, she remains a beacon of talent, hard work, and versatility, inspiring aspiring actors and riding the wave of success. Through her captivating performances and enduring charm, Shraddha Kapoor continues to etch her indelible mark in the annals of Indian cinema.

Alaukik - The Missing Goncharov Adaptation
Tumblr media
Martin Scorsese, creator of Goncharov (1973), greatly appreciated Indian cinema. Thus, it is of no surprise that over a decade later, he decided to bring his best film to an industry that had influenced him so greatly.
In 1990, Scorsese made the journey to Mumbai (then Bombay) to meet with renowned director, Yash Chopra, of Yash Raj Films. He had plans to adapt Goncharov for an Indian audience. It was initally planned to be made years earlier, with Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher leading the film.
Though, with the 1990 version, Scorsese allowed Chopra to take great artistic liberty. Chopra cast two unknowns, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol Mukherjee, in the equivalent roles of Goncharov and Katya. The roles were renamed to Rahul Alaukik and Pooja Khanna. The roles of Sofia and Andrey, now named Nisha Prasad and Rancho Singh, respectively, went to Madhuri Dixit and Aamir Khan who would go on to star in Dil that same year.
Unlike the original, Alaukik really leans into the bisexual polycule subtext, which was near unheard of for Indian cinema at the time and even today. Sadly, the film harbored hard feelings for two of the male leads, seeding the feud between Khan and Khan that would come to an end with 2022's Laal Singh Chaddha. Nonetheless, the movie was extremely popular with both audiences and critics. It established many tropes present in Hindi cinema today, such one lover running towards the other who is on a moving train. This scene, between Khan's Alaukik and Khan's Singh later inspired a very similar scene between Khan and Mukherjee in 1995's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Instead of the bathhouse scene, Alaukik and Singh sit in a communal bathroom dancing in chairs that look like butts.
In a revision of Goncharov's death scene, Alaukik falls down a set of stairs, with no one around to save him. A small white dog named Buffy passes by and howls.
It shot Mukherjee and Khan to stardom and they would go onto star in many more movies together, all thanks to Scorsese's love of Indian cinema.
Alaukik changed the landscape of Hindi cinema and its legacy is seen throughout films of the time period and of the modern era.
Interestingly, one day on a visit to set, Scorsese noted that Shahrukh had a particularly good banter with an American extra, Leonardo DiCaprio. Years later, Scorsese would try to reunite the two with a movie called Xtreme City, but it never got made.
Alaukik would go onto inspire a number of Hindi adaptations of American films such as Dil Bole Hadippa!, Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider.
Sadly, Alaukik was never issued an international release despite Scorsese's involvement. The only reason anyone today knows about it is because a partial reel of film was found in the Maratha Mandir cinema when they were about to premiere Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
I hope that one day we have more to show for this piece of work that launched the careers of some of India's most well known actors.

Amitabh Bachchan's Journey: From Bankruptcy to KBC and the Changing Bonds of Friendship
Tumblr media
Aanjjan Srivastav and Amitabh Bachchan shared a strong bond in the 90s, and their friendship began during the days of the movie "Shahenshah" when Aanjjan introduced Amitabh to his bank and helped him open an account there. However, things took a difficult turn for Amitabh before the launch of "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC).
Tumblr media
During those times, there was a significant backlash against Amitabh, with protests and criticisms happening in Kolkata. Aanjjan visited the sets of "Toofan" to check on his friend, and he found Amitabh in a terrible state, both emotionally and due to an accident he had met with. People had accused him of financial mismanagement, mainly because of wrong bank statements related to his company, ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited).
Aanjjan realized that Amitabh was innocent and had been misled by some people who provided false information to him. Instead of taking legal action, Aanjjan and his manager decided not to file any suits and trusted that Amitabh would repay the money when he could. They knew that his intentions were good and he had been unintentionally dragged into the matter.
Tumblr media
Amitabh was deeply grateful for Aanjjan's support and immediately promised to return the money as soon as possible. However, Aanjjan assured him that they were not there to demand repayment and urged him to be cautious in his financial transactions with other banks.
Eventually, Amitabh returned all the money, but his company, ABCL, had suffered massive losses, and he faced bankruptcy. However, he made a remarkable comeback with the iconic show "Kaun Banega Crorepati."
Unfortunately, despite their strong bond, Aanjjan noticed a change in Amitabh's behavior after KBC. The once warm and inviting gestures from Jaya Bachchan and the family, including Holi celebrations, stopped. Their relationship turned sour, and Aanjjan suspected that some people from the theatre circle might have instigated Amitabh against him.
While this turn of events did not affect Aanjjan's career, it did hurt him to lose the connection he once had with Amitabh. Nonetheless, he cherished the memories of their friendship and the support he provided during Amitabh's challenging times.

★ Pathaan and The  SUPERSTARS Of Indian Cinema!
February 8, 2023
Pathaan has smashed records at the box office and it should put into no doubt who are the superstars of INDIA are. The film confirms the box office clout of Shahrukh Khan which had not gone anywhere despite the last decade not being as kind as the decade before. There was a box office change towards the end of 2000-2010 decade where digital prints allowed far wider releases on day one and as this process got bigger and bigger it meant the genre which was the forte of Shahrukh Khan was never going to get record numbers. But through the 2010-2020 decade the numbers coming with films which were not action films were still huge.
Pathaan had a guest role for Salman Khan and the public response has to seen to be believed and this should be enough for the naysayers who have appreaed due to his last few films not doing as well as expected. Stardom does not dissapear with a few films failing at the box office, just like it does not come overnight and takes many films to establish.
The Hindi film industry is probably the most secular place there is in India but the fact that the biggest stars of India over the last two decades are Muslim has not sat well in some quarters of the country and the media over the last few years. In fact the third biggest also with Aamir Khan though this is arguable with Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar in the fold as well. The cinema going audience does not care one bit about religion and within the industry nobody notices the religion baring when things get bought up from the outside. There are these non secular voices also within the industry but the way the industry has functioned for decades these people soon become outcasts and work will just dry up.
The last few years has seen this Pan India thing pop up so you have regional stars names being put up as the biggest superstars of the country laughable as it may seem. There are no doubt some great directors in the Southern industries so it is possible their films can do well in the Hindi belts but that hardly means the actors in these films become stars and superstardom is far away except for the regional one which they probably have already..
India has seen seven stars achieve megastardom and two of them are Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan. The others being Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. There is not one name in sight from regional film industries and yet today you see names like Prabhas, Yash, Allu Arjun and others put up with there with two superstars who are not only the biggest superstars of the day but among the biggest ever.
This is not to say that someone from the regional industry cannot become a huge superstar tomorrow because if the public takes to you then anything can happen but to reach the level of above names will take some doing not only for the regional stars but even for Hindi filmstars.
The simple reason why the the big superstars have come from the Hindi film industry is because the language has a wider reach. If other languages had a reach as wide as Hindi then maybe it would be a different story. Yes movies can be dubbed but that is the film reaching out and not the actor.
Basically the negativity towards the Hindi film industry has led to many claims as to which is the biggest film industry and who are the biggest stars and when the national media is like this you get the regional one badmouthing Hindi cinema as and pushing their own which is natural. But at the end of the day nothing much has changed despite the claims as the HINDI film industry easily remains the biggest film industry in India as content may go wrong but that does not change the reach.
As for the stars, Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan remain the biggest stars in India and that does not look like changing for sometime yet even though the starpower may not be as big as it was other points in their careers

Success is sometimes the outcome of a whole string of failures
As an emerging, vibrant, and multifaceted economy, India can boast of several spectacular success stories. We are surrounded by success stories of unicorns, leaders who have disrupted industries with their innovations, young achievers who have blazed a trail in their respective fields. While we see their achievements, we seldom realize the stories of their struggle. Their stumbles, mistakes, and lessons learned.
Many of us, are also experiencing our own J-curves. Perhaps by being part of a start-up that is finding its feet, or in a role where we lack passion or even looking for a job. Sometimes, life is non-linear and doesn’t always go to plan, but we can take inspiration from those who have continued to roll the dice despite experiencing multiple setbacks and challenges.
Think Different
One of the best examples of a brilliant visionary who came back from the brink of failure is the late Steve Jobs. Having been unceremoniously and bitterly forced out of the company that he co-founded, he returned to a struggling Apple, which was no more the innovative force it had once been and on the verge of bankruptcy. However, through a combination of humility, luck, sheer determination, he pulled back the company and set it on course to become what it is today. Jobs set aside his bitter rivalry with Bill Gates and struck a deal for a cash infusion to save his company. He also changed the way he dealt with people, tempering down his approach. Under him, Apple became one of the most successful companies on the planet and went on to create revolutionary products that have changed the way we live.
Believe. Dream. Dare.
One of the most iconic personalities of our generation, Walt Disney, was initially considered to be a failed entrepreneur. What most people don’t know is that the first animation studio that he founded went bankrupt. If that was not enough, his second attempt succeeded but his partner double-crossed the genius producer and took away the IP along with a number of other animators, but that did not stop him from achieving greatness. He always went by, “First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.” Today, the Walt Disney Studios is one of the most successful animation studios in the world, and it is thanks to Disney’s power of belief in himself and his hard work.
“Life’s not about how hard of a hit you can give… it’s about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.”
One of the most iconic actors of our generation, Sylvester Stallone, has faced a ton of adversity before he emerged victorious. Starting as a struggling actor who was homeless for a while and at one point sold his wife’s jewelry and even his dog as he was determined not to get a normal job lest it dampen his ambition of becoming an actor. He went on to star in a number of record-breaking films and much like Rocky Balboa achieved greatness despite being the underdog. If there’s anything that Stallone’s career can teach us is to keep at it, never hold back and how fortune eventually does favor you.
Another example closer home would be none other than the ‘Angry Young Man’ of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan. After having a successful career for decades, the superstar came to the brink of bankruptcy as his company failed miserably. However, phoenix-like, he rose up and starred in one of his most iconic roles on television that took the nation by storm with Kaun Banega Crorepati. Ever since, he resurrected his career in the most spectacular way and went on to star in a slew of hit movies and continues to be the busiest actor among his peers.
In conclusion, while luck does play an important role in anyone’s success, it also takes many other qualities to make it from determination, patience, temperament, mental robustness, optimism, the ability to adapt and the willingness to keep learning.

DAY 5502
Jalsa, Mumbai                 Mar 10,  2023                Fri  7:58 PM
And we have lost another ..
A delightful company, a most accomplished artist and in the prime of his career ..
Satish Kaushik ..
Working with you was so inspiring .. and such a learning  ..
My prayers .. 🙏🚩
🪔 .. March 11 .. birthday of Ef Shirel Segev .. our wishes to you from this Family of the Ef here .. welcome to the 20s club .. happiness to you .. and may you have your Mother's Desi Soul .. 🎶💃🏻 .. and surpass her .. 😁 ..
Ahead of time and place .. !
And the issue with ‘ahead of time’ is often the not desired results .. come in time the others do not .. do not come in time get pasted for being late .. ahead of time is desirable, but has its hindered complications ..
Like today the day has barely finished and much of what was needed to be put has been waited upon with expectation .. if it does not come , it does not come .. the writing, if one can call that writing , is insipid and without any life  - as though it is .. 🤣 ..
But an effort shall be made ..
I do believe and have always believed, the immense talent that resides in our Ef .. in writing in aesthetic art work , in compiling visuals , just about everything ..
I never had opportunity to speak about it but it must be noted that it was ever in my mind .. and I have privately either shared or talked about it to friends and family .. in great admiration ..
The comments , the drawings , the pictures and what inspires them to present .. all in such dedicated love and admiration for me ..
For this I am truly indebted ..
I do hope that someday, I get an opportunity to be able to collectively present this to all , and give the immense credit where it is so due ..
I have at times used what they have done or written or expressed and put it within quotes to show that it is borrowed and have given an indication of the who when and where ..
Do not stop to do this .. there is a great admirer that reads and registers all and is most grateful for this sincerity ..
I shall return hopefully .. but if I do not .. rest well .. and my love ❤️

Today marks the 20th death anniversary of Uma Devi Khatri aka #TunTun. She was a well-known singer and actress, famous for being the first female comedian in Hindi cinema. Uma was born in 1923 in a small village near Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, India. Tragically, her parents and brother were killed over a land dispute. Uma lost her family when she was very young and had to live as a maid with relatives. Despite these hardships, Uma's life changed when she met Akhtar Abbas Kazi, an Excise Duty Inspector, who supported and encouraged her. During the India-Pakistan partition, Kazi moved to Lahore, but Uma went to Bombay (now Mumbai) to pursue a singing career in movies. They later married in Bombay in 1947. Uma bravely approached composer Naushad Ali in Bombay, asking for a chance to sing, and he gave her an opportunity. She debuted as a singer in the film "Wamiq Azra" (1946) and quickly made a name for herself. Uma had a series of hit songs in the 1940s, including in the movie "Dard" (1947). Her singing career flourished, and she became one of the top playback singers. However, as music styles changed, she found it hard to compete with newer singers. Naushad suggested she try acting, and she debuted in the film "Babul" (1950) alongside Dilip Kumar, where she got her stage name "Tun Tun." Tun Tun became a famous comic actor, appearing in many films over the next decades, including with stars like Amitabh Bachchan. She acted in about 198 films in various languages, becoming a well-loved figure in Bollywood comedy. Her last film appearance was in "Kasam Dhande Ki" (1990). Tun Tun's name became a cultural reference in India, often associated with comic characters.

Amitabh Bachchan's Early Movies as a Young Actor
Tumblr media
The name that resonates with the core of Indian cinema - Amitabh Bachchan. Long before he was the 'Shehanshah' or the 'Angry Young Man' of Bollywood, this remarkable actor was a bright-eyed beginner navigating his path through the turbulent tides of Indian cinema. This blog post will take a stroll down memory lane, exploring Amitabh Bachchan's early cinematic journey and his evolution as a young actor.
The Introductory Act
Amitabh Bachchan first stepped into the limelight with the film 'Saat Hindustani' in 1969. Although the movie did not fare exceptionally well at the box office, Bachchan's performance was noted. This film not only served as his debut but also laid the groundwork for him to step into more challenging roles with ease.
A String of Early Roles
His initial journey was marked by a string of roles in movies like 'Anand' (1971), 'Reshma Aur Shera' (1971), and 'Parwana' (1971). These films allowed Bachchan to showcase his talent as a young actor on the rise.
In the much-acclaimed film 'Anand', Amitabh Bachchan shared the screen with Rajesh Khanna. Despite being a supporting role, Bachchan managed to make an impression with his performance as the stoic Dr. Bhaskar Banerjee, showcasing his flair for subtle, intense performances.
The Breakthrough: Power-packed Performances
The year 1973 marked a significant turn in Amitabh's career, starting with 'Zanjeer', where he stepped out of supporting roles and took centre stage. The audience got their first glimpse of the 'Angry Young Man', and Amitabh Bachchan became a household name. His intense performance set a new tone for the Hindi film hero, breaking away from the romantic hero mould prevalent during that time.
This era of Bachchan’s career was marked with a slew of unforgettable performances in movies such as 'Deewar' (1975) and 'Sholay' (1975). These two films are considered classics of Indian cinema and are indicative of Bachchan's growing prowess and popularity. His exemplary performances as Vijay Verma in 'Deewar' and as Jai in 'Sholay' are still considered iconic.
Rising to Stardom: The Resilient Journey
Despite experiencing struggles early in his career, Bachchan’s determination did not wane. Even as a young actor, his dedication was evident in every role he undertook. His constant desire for innovation and self-improvement led him to be flexible in his roles, further expanding his acting repertoire.
Films like 'Kabhie Kabhie' (1976) and 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar' (1978) epitomized this aspect. Whether he was enacting the role of a passionate poet in 'Kabhie Kabhie' or playing a heartbroken orphan in 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar', Bachchan exuded an earthy appeal that was swiftly resonating with the masses, making him one of the most sought-after actors of his time.
Beyond the 'Angry Young Man'
While his 'Angry Young Man' persona was greatly loved by audiences, Bachchan did not allow himself to be typecast. He showcased his versatility by taking up divergent roles. For instance, his unforgettable performances in 'Don' (1978) and 'Mr. Natwarlal' (1979) clearly depicted his comfort with both dramatic roles and light-hearted, charming characters.
In essence, Amitabh Bachchan's compelling work as a young actor brought a fresh and enduring angle to the Indian cinema industry. His early works stand testament to a star who was ahead of his time and made a mark with the sheer power of his talent. Even today, the charisma and magnetism of young Amitabh Bachchan live on, etched forever in the annals of Indian cinema.
