            On another note, and these are random ideas based on stuff I’ve seen and read. But this post brought an interesting idea about Christianity being hailed as the religion of reason, of domestication, a place of safe haven from the wild mysticism of the unknown. After all, many revered scientists, such as Gregor Mendel or Isaac Newton, were Christians who saw their work as contributing to a closer understanding of God and his creations. I had a professor who explained how many native cultures have criticized Western science and rationale as an attempt to control and limit nature, as is the effort to quantify everything.

         So with that in mind, I really wonder if this was intentional in Philip’s characterization, how his journal especially sets him up as a scientific explorer with diagrams, ‘figuring out’ the New World to master it. His diary is rife with all sorts of sketches and formulas. And the documentation, the categorization of science might even be compared to Belos’ covens, and their seemingly arbitrary distinctions…

         By contrast, Luz is more willing to engage with the magic of the Titan on his own terms, trusting him and what’s different and unknown. She’s communicating with nature, following the advice of Eda, who espouses how magic IS wild and that this is a good thing; She enrolls at the University of Wild Magic at the end of the show. ‘Wild’ is obviously a term meant to demonize witches as savage and barbaric, which has its connections to colonizers who dismiss nomadic cultures, people who live off the land, as more ‘primitive’.

         People more knowledgeable than me on mysticism have also made posts about Luz’s relationship with magic, such as her acknowledging the power of names by saying Camila’s in the climax of Yesterday’s Lie, summoning a cube with a direct link to her. Names are a big thing in magic from what I understand, hence the creation of middle names; People couldn’t just refuse to give their name to a fae for fear of being deemed rude and punished, but giving your name gives them leverage. So have a REAL name to protect, while your first name is more of an alias.

         For the record, I don’t think TOH is taking an anti-science approach or anything; Keep in mind Keeping Up A-Fear-ances, and how it calls out alternative medicine as a dangerous hoax in its A-plot. The cast is composed of unapologetic nerds who are validated for their nerdery, wanting to learn things for their own sake; Lilith’s history hyperfixation is celebrated.

         Plus, Season 1A encourages Luz to critically question what she’s told, even from Eda; There’s a whole character thread where Luz feels the need to draw her own conclusions, and Eda realizes she can’t just dogmatically order Luz to trust her on authority alone, because she knows firsthand how harmful that logic is in the long run. So she allows Luz to attend Hexside and figure things out for herself, how SHE feels about them; Eda answers Luz’s questioning and admits her mistakes.

        In the end, I think it’s simply about respect; Respect for different cultures and ways of thinking, which also ties into the themes of neurodivergence. People see the world in different ways, and they don’t want you to abandon your own to embrace only theirs, they just want to be allowed to exist and live in actual harmony.

The confession was sort of a mutual thing

You two confessed at the same time and it wasn't planned at allq

Luz is the kind of girlfriend to do all the silly things with.

She loves taking you on spontaneous dates and do random activities that don't really make sense

She loves to teach you how to use glyphs

Luz also loves to read her favorite book series with you

Nature dates are her favorite because it just means alone time between you two and nothing to overwhelming

She's great to have around when you're sad

Brings you anything you need

Loves to cuddle you when you're sad or crying

Words of affirmation are her best friend

Sometimes she thinks you're better than her and its a thought she doesn't like having

Will go to you about it though and you two talk it out

Cringy movie marathons are another thing you two would do together

When she's sad, she doesn't tell you on account of showing her feelings is something she struggles with

You do notice her patterns of when she is sad though after a few months of being with her

You confront her about it and help her talk it out

After you both watch silly internet videos and try to see which of your friends is like them the most

Her mom things you're the sweetest ever and loves to talk to you

She thinks of you as like a guard for her daughter emotionally wise

As in you report to her if Luz is feeling upset, only with Luz permission to share though

AMITY

You were the one who had to make the first move and confess because she didn't know how nor could she bring herself too

She thought you would find her weird at first but was in shock when you told her that you liked her

Amity is the kind of girlfriend who likes to chill at home or in a secluded spot like a library

Physical touch startles her so handholding is a good start for her

When you first kissed her though she lost her mind and tried to think of a reason why you would do that

Amity loves to read to you and tell you stories of her family, mainly Ed and Emira's shenanigans

She doesn't mind any date idea as long as your there with her

If you have pierced ears then you would get matching earrings

You two paint each other's nails and just talk

Amity doesn't know what to do when your sad since she wasn't taught how to healthily deal with them

But she will try and hug you and talk it out

Its hard for her to face you when she finds herself feeling sad

She doesn't want you to think she's weak and make fun or her

But once you catch on you reassure her and comfort her

She finds it weird and self deprecates herself in front of you saying she's weak for making you put up with her

You show her silly cat videos to help her feel better

She tries to deny the fact that it helps her, but it really does

She's afraid of you meeting her family but mostly her mom

You first met her dad and he actually liked you and would vouch for you if you were to meet Amity's mom

Whenever her mom asks about you, Amity sort of panics and tries to avoid her whenever she sees her when your with her

WILLOW

She actually confessed to you first, but it was accidental

Willow just came up to you and you two started debating who liked who more and she accidentally said she loved you

Both of you were blushing so hard and so you said she won

As a reward she won you as a partner

It was a really cute interaction in all actuality

Forest dates and butterfly gardens are a must for her

She loves to gush about all the different plants that are around you both

She's the kind of girlfriend to just take things very slow and calm taking in consideration your boundaries

Whenever your sad she always brings you bright and color flowers that had silly inspirational quotes Luz gave her

She would also teach you coping skills that helped her

If she's sad, she's not afraid to tell you

She is really open about what is making her upset and you help her talk through it

Sometimes you help her go through the coping skills she taught you

To help her feel better you hold her and tell her how amazing she is

You two are plant parents all the way and you give the plants silly names

Once you named one of her plants Deryl that was when all the silly name saga started

Adores when you call her a witch and shut down any off hand comments about her

Her parents absolutely adore you

She was a bit embarrassed at first because they were telling you stories about when she was a younger kid

Warmed up to you and her parents interacting and loved having you over and talking with them

GUS

He confessed to you first with Willow's help

It was planned out and sort of excessive but it was the best way he could get his message across

Lots of illusions were used as decorations and words that said "I Like You Y/n!" with firework hearts

You accepted his confession of course and he was over the moon

Gus is the type of boyfriend to want to go to amusement parks and concerts with you

Or just simple Cafes that he finds interesting

It all depends on your mood in all honesty

He loves to show you all his illusions he has been working on and all the goofy things you request becoming a reality

He loves hearing you praise him for all the hard work he has been doing since it's something he sort of needs to hear

Not many tell him that but hearing it from you is so heart warming

When you're sad, he catches on right away

He makes silly little illusions of things that make you giggle

And sometimes mini Guses to remind you how much he cares and loves you

When he's sad its hard to catch

He is sort of a master at hiding his emotions and isolating himself from others so no one can really catch him crying

But when you do find him you are quick to reassure him and help him breathe

He appreciates you greatly for being there and helping him through hard times

Meeting his dad was a tough thing to do

Since Gus's dad seemed to be pretty busy with work, it was hard to catch him on a free day

But once you and his dad did meet, it was an instant click and Gus is glad his dad approves of you

HUNTER

You had to be the one to confess first

There was no way Hunter would be able to confess to you, especially with his pride

So when Flapjack was pushing Hunter to a place that wasn't near the city he was concerned

But when Hunter saw you he was put at ease

Literally cried when you told him you liked him more than a friend

Hunter is the type of boyfriend who would be happy just with you holding his hand anywhere

No matter where you go, he's content as long as you're there with him

He sometimes get insecure because there isn't much he can show you that is cool magic wise

But when there's a fight and your there, he does show off a bit

His top priority would be protecting you

Whenever you're sad, he is unsure what to do

The only thing he can really do is hug you and just shut down any negative thoughts you have about yourself with compliments

When it comes to him though, he is scared to be sad in front of you

He was taught to hold his emotions in and not be a burden to any one

So when you confront him about it, he just breaks and spills, with much regret of doing so

However you help him calm down and talk about what has been bothering him

You bring him outside to just watch the sky to help him feel better

He is afraid of his uncle finding out abut him being with you

Mainly because of the fear of his uncle hurting you or using you as a manipulative mechanism

So never ever going to meet Belos and he prefers to keep it that way

KING

Being King's bestest friend means that you are his number one

And being his number one means you being his 2nd in command

He loves when you play with him and give him 100% of your attention

His brain explodes when you actually want to learn about demons

Some one is actually interested and he didn't have to beg them?

He does make you take notes but nothing serious

Just your favorite demon and why

He does get sort of jealous when someone else occupies your time but he has his ways of distracting you

Plan A being throwing Francois at you and asking if you've seen his plush

Plan B would be sitting in your lap and just napping there forcing you to stay there with him

You just giggle at his antics because its not hurting anyone and he just wants your attention

Loves when you include him in your activities

Loves it more when you don't get upset at him for making simple mistakes

Cuddles are a must when you're sad

As well as a tea party with all his henchmen

If its a matter he can't really help with or has no knowledge in then he'll get Luz or Eda, whoever is closest and not occupied with something

Whenever he's sad, you are the first to know because he runs to you

He hugs you and you cuddle him really closely

You don't leave him alone until he feels better and when he does he still clings to you

Eda and Lilith adore you and thank you for keeping King busy while they have important things to do

EDA

It was odd that you happened to worm your way into Eda's heart so fast

It was quicker than Luz and that's saying something

She loves having you around and not just because you're free labor to her

She feels at ease a lot more with you around and like the curse isn't there

She was scared when you first saw her owl beast form

You weren't scared of her though and listened to Luz to have the cure close to you

Whenever you go on adventures, she isn't far behind watching over you

She is always ready to jump in if a situation gets violent

People see you as her keeper in a sense of keeper her chilled out

She considers you her child at this point

She'll drag you to do chores with her or for her, it all depends on her mood

Whenever Eda's around people can expect you to not be so far behind

People also know to leave you alone unless they want an angry owl lady on their hands

Whenever your sad she ties to bring you whatever comfort she can

But of course is a bit awkward when it comes to hugging

Bring in the cheesy words Luz taught her

When ever she is sad though she hides it real well

It takes a lot of convincing to talk about her feelings but when she does you are there to bring whatever comfort you can

Eda knows King loves being with you and considers you his sibling

Lilith is concerned about you spending so much time with Eda and how she might be impacting you but none the less she thinks your a good kid and you'll make the right decisions (which you wont)

LILITH

Its even a bigger surprise to get Lilith to become so attached to you

She loves how attentive you are

You actually take interest in subjects that she learns and reads about

She teaches you all sorts of things and of course notes are a must

Lilith just doesn't want you to forget the information you were given

Loves to take you on small outings to little cafes and chores

She considered you her child after a month of knowing you

Protecting you is a must

Oh you're going somewhere? Well not without Lilith

It takes a lot to convince her to stay put and when she says she'll stay, she's actually lurking spying on you

If someone even lays one harmful hand on you she is out and ready to fight

You somehow get Lilith to lighten up and agree to more things that she really wouldn't

When Lilith finds you sad she is immediately there with a bunch of blankets and ice cream

Lilith is actually a really good person to gossip too and she always makes it funny

Finding her sad is a really rare thing though

She is used to dealing with her emotions on her own and that hasn't changed

But on the rare occasions where she shows you some vulnerability you give her all the comfort you can

Hugs and cuddles as well as words of affirmation and she is so grateful for you

Eda is glad that you're helping Lilith out of her stiff shell a bit and showing more emotion than she used too

Hooty becomes your closest friend as well as King but Hooty more because Lilith drags you to their conversations when she visits The Owl House

Summary: Willow and Hunter are gardening together. A playful idea makes things 10 times better.

Warnings: Owl House spoilers! This is a tickle fic, so if you don't like that, scroll away!

This at Luz's house were... okay. It wasn't bad, not by a longshot, but it was missing things. Family, friends, knowledge, and more. But, in the backyard, things didn't seem too different. Willow was gardening, Hunter by her side. They were both in amazing moods, temporarily unbothered by the world.

The small garden was quiet and peaceful. Willow made quick work of the space, already setting up some mesh to keep out pests. Hunter had helped too, planting a few rows of flowers. They were currently watering the sprouts, adding a touch of fertilizer to each row.

They talked a bit, but for the most part, it was peaceful silence. "Hey Hunter, could you go back over the third row? I think I missed a few." He nodded, touching up some things. "Willow, can you make things other than vines?"

The question was random, but she happily answered it. "Yeah, I can pretty much grow anything if I try. Vines are easiest, and they help more in situations than other plants." To demonstrate, she grew some flowers around him. They were light colors, the flowers a bit fluffy. One raked up his arm, causing him to squeak and flinch away from the contact.

Willow cooed at the silly sound. "Aww, I forgot you were ticklish!" Hunter blushed at the statement, ducking his head. "Shush! It's stupid, not worth talking about!" When Willow had another flower brush his arm, obviously on purpose, he picked up some dirt, and promptly smooshed it on her arm. "Revenge!"

She gasped dramaticly, letting out her inner goober. "This calls for my secret weapon: tickle attack!" Raising her hands, she grew more of the fuzzy flowers, followed by her trademark vines. Some of the vines slithered around his wrists, holding them out by his sides, making a T. The rest poised themselves around him, along with the fuzzies.

With a flick of her wrists, they took action. The fuzzies nuzzled his sides while the vines wiggled on his neck and ears. He burst into giggles, twisting and turning to get away from the tickles. He remained stuck, the plants leaving him in stitches.

"WihiHIHIhilow! It tihiHIckles!" She giggled at his adorable whining. "That's the point, silly!" She scooted over to the giggly boy, smiling at his face. He was blushing, his face the color of a strawberry. He had the biggest, giddiest smile on his face.

Willow started poking his belly, adding to the tickles. "This is one of the cutest things ever! Your happy face is adorable!" He shook his head, his giggles becoming laughter. "NOHOHO IT'S NOHOT!" She wiggled her finger by his navel, sending his laugher up a notch or two. "NAHAHA! WHIHILOHOHOW"

She explored his torso, poking and prodding every inch she could. With her nimble fingers, the vines, and the flowers, Hunter was lost in laughter. It wasn't bad, not at all, but it tickled!

Willow could see that Hunter was reaching his limit. His laughter got breathier, tears of mirth coming to his eyes. She called off her plants, switching to gentle traces on his sides. His laughter calmed down to airy giggles, letting him regain his breath.

"Mehehean." His arms came to his sides, pushing at her hands. She let him push her off, figuring he'd had enough for one day. The sun was beging to set. Willow laid down, patting the ground next to her. Hunter's little giggles were all but gone when he joined her.

Willow smiled, laying her hand near his on the dirt. "You have a really cute laugh." He flicked her hand, blushing. She laughed, offering it to him. He took it, guiding their hands back to the ground. They laid there, watching the sunset. The Noceda house had its ups and downs, but these moments made it worth every second.

Hunted Grimwalker au

Okay, another toh grimwalker au concept that was brought on by my musings about how Grimwalkers must have a lot of misconceptions floating around them, as well as demonizing and dehumanizing depictions in articles and media due to the fact that they are canonically implied to be creatures of legends in the modern era, and that clashing with a random thought about the initial plot of the movie "Space sweepers" and yeah… anyway thanks for @sergeantsporks for helping fix the initial concept in a way that it made sense.

Hunter somehow finds out about the draining spell sometime pre-canon and, after having a crisis over the fact that Belos wants to wipe out all life in the demon realm, he decides to leave, as he doesn't want part in having an entire nation die.

He isn't caught initially, but the Collector probably snitches on him but gives him a headstart cause it's more fun that way, so Hunter gets confronted by Belos on his way out the castle. During the confrontation, Belos says something about "having suspicions, but hoping it wasn't true" and "Grimwalkers being made for a purpose", but doesn't give further context before trying to kill Hunter.

Hunter does manage to escape, albeit with some wounds and heavy damage to his staff that makes it break completely soon after he escapes the castle. This is a blessing in disguise as, unbeknownst to Hunter, Belos had a tracker put in that staff.

Since Hunter didn't find out the truth about the Golden guards in this au, he still has some love and attachment towards his uncle despite everything, and even though he can't condone wiping out the entire isles, he still tries to tell himself that maybe Belos was so stricken by the tragedies wild magic causes that he came to the conclussion that this world is beyond repair and thus wants to put it out of its misery, so essentially that Belos is a man with sympathetic motives that went too far. Or maybe the Titan is unhappy with people living off of His dead body at all and wants them gone for it. Essentially, Hunter still refuses to believe Belos would do something maliciously. He doesn't have much time to think about the thing about grimwalkers Belos mentioned, until…

While he's in some town, freshly on the run, scrounging up a disguise and trying to figure out what to do next, Belos makes an isles-wide public announcement telling people about the sad discovery that who he thought was his nephew that he had taken in after his family was wiped out by wild magic was actually a grimwalker made from the bones of his real nephew by wild witches in an attempt to infiltrate the castle, and now he's on the run with vital information that could put the isles in jeopardy. Belos then gives information and description on the grimwalker, specifically noting the unnaturally intense redish-magenta eyes as a key difference between them and a real witch. So yes, Hunter has a massive bounty on his head, and is made out to be a monster you should not get deceived by as it tries to blend in with other people. Propaganda

Again, due to not knowing the whole story of the grimwalkers and Belos' family like he does in canon, and due to still having an emotional attachment to Belos and the belief that Belos at least cared for him- well, the "real" Hunter, he actually does believe the propaganda about grimwalkers himself. He just thinks that maybe some of the details have been exagerrated to make him seem more dangerous than he really is, but it's all based on truth. Belos wouldn't lie to people, he wouldn't be so harsh on his actual family, right? Big identity crisis and self-loathing ensues.

He hesitates to even think of himself as Hunter anymore due to the fact that it's supposed to be the "real" Hunter's name, and he's just a copy made from his bones. But he didn't know that, and this was the only name he'd ever known, so who is he then? Maybe it's not important, it's not like he really has many chances to tell anyone his name nowadays anyway.

Hunter manages to find some tinted glasses and goggles to hide his eyes.

He sleeps in multiple abandoned beast burrows and it's actually oddly comfortable due to being subconsciously reminded of the earth he grew in.

Remember guys, there is no Flapjack yet. He is completely alone at first.

He mostly survives off the foraging skills he gained in scout training and, with his selkiedomus skin, he dives into the boiling sea to retrieve items to sell.

He sells to Eda sometimes. She does not know he's a grimwalker at first.

Hunter knows about the Day of unity plans, but since mostly everyone is trying to kill him without even waiting for an explanation, that information is useless if nobody will believe him. So he knows the world will end in a year, and he's powerless to stop it, especially when he's struggling to survive at all.

Hunter believes the stuff about being created to infiltrate, thinking that maybe his nature made his betrayal of Belos inevitable, and he did complete his purpose now, so at first he's like: "Okay so if wild witches made me to infiltrate Belos, and it turns out that Belos is planning something bad, then maybe wild witches are okay? No, but if they still killed a kid to do this- but maybe it was a sacrifice they had to make, since everyone will die from the draining spell anyway? So, now that I know parts of his plan, do I find the wild witches that created me and report back to them? Will I be disposed of afterwards? Will I die automatically after the task is complete?!"

He spends some time going around trying to find his creators. It is a very weird experience for both parties involved.

Hunter, coming up to Eda: "Did you make me?"

Eda: "Did I WHAT!?"

If you couple this with the trans Eda headcanons that I saw a few times in the fandom, along with the fact that Caleb is actually related to the Clawthornes and Hunter does have some Clawthorne-typical traits himself, Eda could deadass have a moment where she's like, thinking back on some of the exes she had around 16-ish years ago, like "Shit, did I?"

She figures out he's a grimwalker soon enough, but boy were those some stressful few minutes. And then she realizes that that's the grimwalker she's talking to and yeah this situation's a mess. (This scenario probably won't be canon, at least not completely, but I put it in cause it was funny and the entire rest of the au is sad af)

Eda doesn't believe Belos is telling the true story about the grimwalker, but due to the fact that Eda was an urban legend junkie, she read up on a lot of misconception-ladden legends about grimwalkers, so she's still wary of Hunter at first. She has a talk with Bat Queen once the subject is brought up during a potion delivery, since Bat Queen was alive back when grimwalkwers were still around, and she confirms that most of this stuff Belos is saying is untrue. That and seeing the very obviously beat up and constantly on-edge kid convinces her that this is really just a kid in a really bad situation.

Both Eda and Bat Queen try to offer help, but Hunter is for obvious reasons distrustful and only ever accepts help with a metaphorical ten foot pole. They later accounted for that by providing help in equally roundabout ways.

There is more stuff to this au but that's all I'm writing for now.

You barged into his house only to find him writing something on his desk. He turned around startled at the sound of the door slamming behind you. His face relaxed as he saw it was just you. He dropped his pen on the desk, turning to face you. You were mad, to say the least. You did not even look at him and you muttered curses under your breath, walking around.

“Hey!” He said, twirling his chair lightly amused at your mood.

“Stupid! I told them a thousand times before, but no one listens! How dare they! They thought they could trick me into THIS?” You snapped, pacing in the room, “stupid! All of them!”

“What happened now?” He frowned.

“What happened?” You asked, stopping in your tracks to look at him. 

His frown deepened. Oh yeah, you definitely were in a mood.

“I will tell you what happened.” You said, gesturing at yourself. He looked at you from head to toe. You were wearing a gorgeous yellow saree with a green border. Gold bangles adorned your wrist and a heavy neckless rested around your neck. You would have loved it in any other situation, but today, all you wanted to do was throw it away. 

“You look beautiful!” Ram said, mesmerised.

That made you even more angry. Because how dumb can he be?

“You know why I am wearing all this? Because my family is having guests over for chai. You know why?” You asked, crossing your hands across your chest, “because they are fixing my marriage to some random man.” 

You had not told your family about Ram. You two were, well close. And you loved him though none of you ever explicitly said it. You both knew and you knew he was the one you were going to marry if you were ever going to marry anyone at all. You have been avoiding the topic of marriage altogether since Ram was busy with his work and you knew he would want to wait for a while. You thought they had given up, but no. You woke up that day with your sister ushering you to get ready. It wasn’t until you were all dolled up, she told you about the actual thing. You stormed out of your house and showed up at his place, not really sure what you wanted from him, but it sure as hell was not this. He looked so nonchalant about the whole thing and that infuriated you.

“Oh.” He said.

“Yes, Ram, oh.”

You waited for his reaction. He stopped twirling his chair as he stared at you. You waited for him to say something. To stand up and do something! But he stayed there. A moment later, he started twirling his chair again irritating you more.

“Han toh, what are you doing here?” He asked.

“What?” You asked surprised.

“Shouldn’t you be at your place when they arrive?” 

You clenched you jaw as you realised what he was talking about. 

“Right.” You deadpanned, “I should go meet the guy.”

“Yes, exactly,” Ram nodded very seriously, “maybe he is the right one for you! You never know.” 

You fisted your pallu to keep yourself from punching the man you loved the most in the world as you put on a too sweet to be true smile on your face.

“You are right.” You said, “maybe he is the right one for me.” 

Ram shrugged as if to say see!

“I should go home and greet them, serve them food and chai and get married at the earliest mahurat.” You said very cheerfully.

“Sounds like a plan.” Ram said, picking up his pen, “now that the crisis is sorted, I will get back to work.” 

You gaped at him as he turned back to his notebook as if nothing had happened at all. As if he did not care at all. You picked up the nearest paper from the floor crumbling it into a ball and threw it at him. It hit him in his head and he looked at you.

“Y/N, what are you-”

You made another paper ball, throwing it at him again.

“Fine! FINE! If you don’t care, fine!” You snapped, “I will go get married. Because why would you care. You go back to your work!” 

He ducked as you kept throwing the paper balls at him. You were this close to throwing actual books at him.

“Y/N, listen-” He said, finally getting up from his chair. 

“Oh, no. Don’t bother. I am leaving anyway. Should have gotten married long ago. But I was stupid to think that you loved me. I was stupid that I wanted to marry you! But your work is more important right? You should keep working. Who cares if I am being tied off to some gadha.” 

He walked towards you with a smile on his face. If you were mad before, you were furious now, “and you think this is funny? I came here to- You know what, it doesn’t matter. I will go home, send you an invitation. Come have dinner at my wedding.” 

You turned around to leave. You felt something tug at your pallu and you stumbled back, facing him. 

“What?” You snapped as he smiled softly. His fingers gently tucked a hair strand that had freed itself from your artistic braid, behind your ear.

“You better say something really quick, Ram or I swear-”

“I do love you.” He whispered.

In other situations your heart might have fluttered and you would have blushed. But not today. 

“Great. Now, if you don’t mind I have to go make chai for my futu-” you started, turning around again. This time he held your wrist, pulling you back towards him. Your back was pressed against his chest. You had never been this close to him before. He entwined your fingers, wrapping the arm around you. His warm breath fanned over your neck, and your heartbeat quickened.

“There is no way in hell that I will let someone else marry you.”

so I kinda want anyone (maybe like hunter gus and luz?) platonic, with a friend who just loves to here them rant. like, "oh, you really like wild magic? tell me all about it!" and it always ends up in the character asleep. (sleep is for the weak)

A/N: Not sure what form you wanted this in, so I wrote headcanons !!!1!1!

Hunter

He'd be so excited!!!1!1! Although it would take a lot of trust for him to talk about wild magic with anyone due to previously being Belos' right hand man. He was never able to talk about wild magic with anyone the way he does now, and he's really grateful to have a friend like you. Hunter really wants to know more about wild magic, so talking about it with you (being a witch or humor yourself) could also help him learn more!! And you guys would go on for hours until Hunter eventually gets so tired, he just suddenly passes out in your arms. After waking up and realizing that what had happened, he'd just jump up and apologize for rambling so much and falling asleep with this faint tint of embarrassing red on his face. But it was definitely worth it!!

Gus

Gus loves wild magic. Being able to study different magic other than a single type makes it less boring! He's so happy you understand that. And also bonus points if you let him talk about humans as well. This boy literally had all the knowledge ingrained in his brain. If you happen to be a human, oh boy. He'll be so happy that a human wants to learn about wild magic. And with you being human, that also means he can learn more about humans too!! It's a 50/50. You both would just have random sleepovers whenever you can and talk for hours until you fall asleep, then continue the next morning lmao. Also he loves it whenever you ask questions about it, he'll always be free to answer any questions!!!1!1!

Luz

She'll be radiating with excitement I swear. She'll talk so fucking fast about everything she's learned from staying in the demon realm. She'll be talking from one thing to another, then hoping back to the topic but then another while you sit there like :). She'll stop mid sentence and say "Just tell me if you wanna stop, I don't wanna bore you!" but you'll be like "don't ever stop plz". She'll as you a bunch of questions as well if you're a witch and up to that. You obviously don't have to answer but she's just!!!2!1 cute when she's excited. You guys would talk hours on end until, boom, you guys fall asleep in the kitchen table and wake up with a sore back but still continue rambling.

Subtext vs Plain Text: Multi-Tracking in TOH

So a disclaimer first: I am someone who DRASTICALLY prefers your basic story functions before you try to tell me what the deeper meanings of it are because, you know... If I don’t like your base story, why should I care about your subtext? If I’m questioning how this functions, claiming you’re smart for breaking your own rules isn’t going to make me turn around. And this is kind of the entire vibe I get from Hexide’s allowance of people to study multiple tracks. I’ll actually talk about the metatext first as I’ve seen others point out: It’s a commentary against modern school systems where kids are forced to learn a curriculum set by others specifically for a specific subset of jobs, commonly office or factory jobs. There is a lack of self expression and even self identity in these curriculums and it’s always justified with you needing it for the sake of your future. Even Willow plainly states she’s in abominations because of the job prospects which any Humanities or History major will feel in their soul. TOH presents instead the idea that self expression and experimentation are good and help advance kids more than simply trying to slot them into a one size fits all curriculum. That they need to be allowed to experiment and have a wide variety of experiences or to follow that which they are passionate about doing as an adult. For a kid’s show, it’s not terrible and it will resonate with many kids who feel abandoned by traditional school systems. The outcasts. The target demographic of the show in theory. And it’s not so radical as to seem completely dumb about these things. Until, you know, you spend five seconds thinking about the context of the show itself. In universe, there is a VERY basic explanation for why kids would focus on one track of magic. It’s literally illegal for them to do otherwise as grown ups. That’s not an over exaggeration or the like even. Because every coven in the world only allows one type of magic, and being outside of a coven is illegal, every multi-tracking student has two options: Join the Emperor’s Coven, which is depicted as difficult (at least until Sport in a Storm but that’s another blog), or becoming a wild witch which ranges from imprisonment, being forced into a random coven or just straight up execution. Quite literally the change to allow multi-tracking is setting up the kids for failure and death. If they can’t make it into the EC and compromise by going into a single track coven, they’ll be weaker than anyone else there because they aren’t as focused in their discipline. If they don’t compromise, they literally become outlaws. And Bump theoretically knows this. He was raised under Belos’ rule and likely would have been in school as the whole system changed to be based around the covens. Around what the new world order was. And as a pragmatist, the single tracks would have been befitting for that new order but allowing people the ability to swap if they showed an aptitude for another track is a good compromise. And the fact that all of these kids are setup for failure kind of undermines the subtext, doesn’t it? But if you ask why it was done besides to comment on the subtext, there isn’t really an answer. Hexide is never a major part of rebelling against Belos, never much of a driver for Luz to decide covens are inherently bad, especially since this subtext and plain text is mostly in her first day at the school so she can have a special, rainbow outfit when at school, so... Why just blatantly ignore your world building like that? Unless it’s just to get on a soapbox and preach about your ideas? Because even if I agree with your assessment, screeching it incoherently in the middle of Disneyland while I’m trying to enjoy it is only going to sour me on your message, if I hear it at all.

ok so ive spammed my friend with toh thoughts a bit to much so time to ramble here i suppose. (sorry in advance thisll be very disjointed and go from one random point to another).

my main take away from the finale is that it felt a bit... hollow?

like dont get me wrong, the animation was so fucking good. getting more titan and collector lore was also so cool (and hellooo The Titan being such a genderqueer royal? absolutely love how natural toh rep is, like its just thrown out there and no one questions it, just how shit is, absolutely bangers- *gets shot*). and aaaa, the aged up re-designs of all the characters are so good, especially like the detail how all the hexsquad have a flapjack tattoo.

yet there are so many bits that just feel off? like they couldve been handle better (even with the cut runtime the show had).

first lets start with the Collector who just got done dirty, like their whole arc was about the fear of being alone again, yet at the end they decided to leave? just like that? like would it not make more sense for him to stay with Eda, to learn to control his powers better and make new friends. especially them leaving to "mature" or whatever doesnt really make sense, like how can they grow as a person if they dont interact with others, if they dont get exposed to different opinions and believes and all that.

and i dont really like Collie, but it still feels like he deserved better, especially after taking up so much runtime.

actually you know what wouldve made the show better? not introducing the Collector in the first place.

no but think about it, why waste so much runtime on a character that didnt even exist before the show was cut (and thus had very little foreshadowing and buildup to his introduction) and then to not even give them a sweeter ending?

if anything the show shouldve stuck with the Day of Unity being the true finale. like honestly if DoU happened over the 3 specials they actually had plenty of time to flesh out all the existing characters further, maybe there could have been even a little more time for more slice of life moments. but then the whole bit with Collie just feels likes taking away precious time, that his character could have only worked if the show wasnt cut, but if it wasnt cut he wouldnt have existed in the first place, so man idk.

and on the topic of the DoU, holy shit Belos got done dirty, im actually mildly mad at his demise.

like it just overall doesnt make sense thematically.

like, ok this is gonna be hard to phrase, and i would like to straight away say i dont think Belos should ever be redeemed, just gonna use other characters redemptions as example.

so toh throughout its enite runtime is really set on showing that everyone deserves a second chance for as long as they want and are willing to change. we see this with Lilith who was pretty much immediately redeemed at the beginning of s2, and whilst many people say it was rushed, or she didnt deserve it, i think otherwise. like throughout s1 she only tries to get Eda into the Emperor's coven out of the belief that Belos will cure her, cuz yknow, she feels really fucking guilty for cursing her sister, and even then she doesnt really force Eda that much into joining, like there are many moments of weakness were Lilith couldve dragged Eda to the emperor, but she didnt, she gave Eda many chances to join on her own. and again the only reason she even wanted Eda to be in the coven was to right her mistake of cursing her. so after going through that guilt for years of course shed be forgiven quickly, as she showed that she wants to change, be better and all that.

we see this with Hunter as well, though his redemption was more gradual, yet still his past wrongs arnt brought up, like how he patronised Eda and Luz during his first meeting, or attacked Amity in eclipse lake, cuz he was also doing shit out of the belief of helping people, and clearly wanted to change for the better, so why bring up his past wrongs when hes a better person now and all that.

why bring this up?

well with Belos toh brought up an interesting dilemma, what do you do with a person that doesnt want to change, thats stuck in a loop of his short sighted beliefs in a system thats ready to accept and help anyone that tries to change regardless of their past?

and the answer to that being to just kill him?

like how does that solve anything? he died thinking he was in the right, that witches are still spawns of satan or whatever tf. it just feels like it goes against what the show established.

now dont get me wrong, the scene of him trying to manipulate Luz for the millionth time and her just staring him down completely unfazed is amazing, it says more than any actual words could ever. what isnt is then Raine, Eda and King immediately stomping him afterwards, which again, just proofs Belos' point that witches are "evil" from his perspective. (how did he even die from that when even mf Collie wasnt able to kill him? and ne got hit by a car and that *still* didnt kill him either, it just feels like he shouldve survived that)

so imagine if instead of them stomping him down they decided to imprison him, that will of course also have the effect of saving him from the boiling rain. so now Belos has to live with the fact that it was witches that saved him, the same witches he'd never show that kind of mercy to, the same witches he would murder the second he got the chance, and what makes it worse is the fact that the human, the one he oh so creepily obsessed over didnt even do anything, wouldve left him suffer in the boiling rain if she had the choice.

and just generally, letting him actually *live* with the consequences of his actions would have been so much more fitting. like dying is easy, wayy too easy, an escape from consequences, but actually living with said consequences, well thats delightfully horrific.

and his death isnt the only way that they done him dirty, the Titan also basically just said that Belos is just evil and theres nothing more too it, when there literally is?? like hello what were all thos Hollow Mind paintings for if not to show that Belos aint just pure evil, how he is a victim of shitty circumstances, yet how despite that it doesnt excuse the extent to which he took shit to.

and the just forgot about that?

... oh right, they forgot the memory paintings even existed untill someone posted their own redraws of them, no wonder they fucked Belos' character up so much :/

Is it just me or is it super telling that lily decided to go after a personal blog for talking negatively about her Velma grade after it's been talked about on these blogs for a while already? (And of course she reacted with ableism and transphobia)

She really is the kind of coward to go after the smallest possible target and lambast them on her blog. For reacting to something she herself put on the internet no less.

LO is an abuser and a bully... as long it's against someone that is weaker, smaller and she thinks she can win with minimal effort. that's the real reason why she shared that story about beating up her younger sister until she was crying on the floor. because it was maybe the only time she ever got to "win" a physical fight.

the person who made that post was literally just a random user who made one single post on the LO tag. they weren't a big fan of LO, they didn't tag her, they didn't participate in her community. they just said that they disagreed with her takes and stopped her watching a long time ago and for that LO felt it was necessary to reply with 6 whole paragraphs trying to represent OP like a overtly angry person with brain damage who should get therapy... when literally anyone can see on their post they only sounded midly frustrated at best. it's looking like those authors who go after the people who leave negative reviews on goodreads to start harassing them. LO has a platform. this person just made a small post to vent about a youtuber they don't even watch anymore. this doesn't make LO look like someone clapping back to "harassment", but rather a insecure person deciding to use an innocent person like her convenient punching bag.

Anyway, thought i would update this since it was kind of old and i had been updating some other things so yeah! This is me i guess.

#introducing myself

so I had a few people asking if they could hear how I thought the trio from Fullmetal Alchemist (Edward, Winry and Alphonse) have some similarities or parallels to Hunter, Willow and Gus. Fair warning I haven’t watch FMA in its entirety in quite some time so most of what I’ll be saying is from memory and random YouTube clips.

So since I forgot a lot about the dynamic between Ed and Alphonse in the show I won’t really go into depth with that besides just saying that in TOH they seem to be pushing for an older brother-younger brother dynamic with Hunter and Gus, as per the last scene of the season two finale and Dana’s official art where he has his arm wrapped around both Gus and Willow.

Also wanted to point out that their personalities seem to be a little similar at least to me. While Hunter may not be AS abrasive as Ed, I definitely saw the similarities in LR where Hunter told Gus to stop being foolish” and Gus was like, “yeah alright tough guy let’s keep moving” it seems similar to the way the elric brothers personalities are that way to compliment each other. With Alphonse being more compassionate, level headed and patient with a much higher maturity level than his brother who is more stubborn, strong willed, sarcastic and impatient.

Now of course that’s how Ed is on the outside, but the more you watch the show you get to see that he is extremely loyal, and has a lot of compassion. He also struggles with a guilt complex where he solely blames himself on what happened to his mother and his brother and because of that, tries to take on everything by himself and only accepting help from his brother. Over time he realizes that he doesn’t have to do that, and he has friends around him that he can rely on and share his burdens with.

Which reminds me a lot of Hunter, and how we have seen him constantly push away help from others whether it’s Luz (in Hunting Palismen & Hollow Mind), Gus (in Labyrinth Runners) or Willow (at the end of Any Sport In A Storm). But over time we see him grow and start to rely on those same people and in others despite what he’s been through with Belos and how he may have that survivors guilt.

And with Gus and Alphonse, they both have that kinda one up over their protective older brothers either in a sense of maturity or intelligence. But they are still overly kind and compassionate to the people around them, whether they had malicious intentions or not.

(Side note is that Gus and Hunter also seem to share having an imposter syndrome.)

I don’t know if I explained the similarities with those two extremely well just because I’m used to thinking these things and not actually writing them down but TLDR: they both share a sibling relationship and their individual personalities are also very similar to one another.

Now to move on to the other side that I think is very similar and that’s between Edward and Winry, and Hunter with Willow.

Now, personally Edward and Winry is probably one of the best ships on all of shounen anime just because of how well done it is.

We see them for most of the series as childhood friends and even as family, Alphonse and Ed both care about her a lot and consider her to be a sister to them and Edward even argues with her more than he does his own brother. However, their bond is different than compared with Alphonse and Winry as Ed and her are both really stubborn and always seemed to be at odds with each other.

BUT! With Winry being Ed’s automail mechanic, she’s been his support system, not only with that but emotionally as well. Edward never outright admitted that he had romantic feelings for Winry but as the series goes on you can see their dynamic change and grow (plus he always got flustered when people would ask if they were together) and by the end he ends up proposing to her by saying “I’ll give half of my life to you if you give half of yours to me”

(Not to be that person but the proposal and then Hunter and Willow having this half a witch thing in common? Dana I’m in your walls)

But with Winry we actually see her come to terms with the fact that she has been falling for Edward and even admits to herself that she’s in love with him, but it doesn’t really make their dynamic awkward after she realized it, if anything it made it stronger. (Also she never got flustered after she realized she fell in love, until he proposed so I just thought I’d mention that because a lot of people think that Willow needs to blush or be flustered in order to show that she cares and likes Hunter back when she really doesn’t.)

(Adding quickly the similar personalities with Winry and Willow not only being extremely kind and empathetic but very strong willed and passionate about the things they love. Also being the emotional support for their friends when the time calls for it.)

With the show setting up Willow being one of the first people to give Hunter a second chance and to be there for him emotionally, I’m very eager to see how they will handle their relationship in season three since we have the idea that Hunter has developed a crush on her over the time they have been talking on screen and off.

Considering that I’m pretty sure Dana likes FMA and some of the crew does as well, and this isn’t the first time there’s been similarities in TOH with FMA, I wouldn’t be surprised if this trio will be another one with the main trio from FMA.

Willow, Gus, and Hunter all care about each other in different ways, similar to Edward, Winry and Alphonse and in the end it sort of gives off that vibe of “the older brother got a girlfriend and they love the younger brother unconditionally.”

I’m pretty sure I did NOT explain this the way I wanted to but if you got the overall theme of what I was trying to say that’s all that matters, not to mention in the romantic aspect of it Winry and Edward never once kissed on screen, and their relationship was more on how they acted around each other and how they could support one another. Which I’m pretty sure is what the theme is going for with Hunter and Willow, and if the series was longer we could’ve gotten more of that development.

Anyways, I hope this helped into understanding what I meant with my last post, hopefully I didn’t make it more confusing if anything I would suggest watching clips of how all the FMA main characters act with one another on YouTube to understand a bit more on what I’m saying.

More TOH thoughts and I'm wondering if Caleb/Wittebro left Philip behind (accidentally). Like in the same sense Luz did with Camila. He didn't mean to hurt him and leave him. But he found his happiness with Mrs.Clawthorne. 

because theres no teen pics of Philip and Brother. Theres child, then suddenly Older and then Belos years. And they found her while they were still young, like right after Philip got his mask. So I'm wondering if Philip was left in the dark, alone, afraid, maybe even harmed, he had no one to protect him. So he lied to protect himself. Imagine how much trouble **you** would have gotten for going out into the wild and don't come back with your brother in that time period. Jesus. Like. ???? I would honestly be just as pissed if my beloved older sibling figure who protected me and helped me suddenly left with a random person WITH NO SAY and then suddenly just? Comes back in your life? Because YOU found a way to ?

Like heres my guess. Brothers found Miss Clawthorne. Clawthorne has strong magic like Eda, and actually made portals for in between worlds but was still little and didn't know how to control it and later made the door Eda has now. Clawthorne took him with her because he was curious like Hunter is with glyphs and thats why Belos doesn't allow him to have *real magic*. Miss Clawthorne didn't know how to get them back but eventually promised him they would find a way. They didn't. Philip was hurt and betrayed and after years he found/made another door by maybe some stuff she left behind like Eda does. He finds The Boiling Isles and hopes to find Caleb. He does sometime before EWAEW, like say a couple of years. Or months. He finds Caleb and thats what the hug is. Its OH MY GOD BROTHER? And Philip just finally snapped because his brother didn't suffer. He was alive and happy and had a family without him and was moving on in life without him. He forgot about him, or so he thought. So he killed him. And Mrs. Clawthorne cursed him.

Like imagine u think ur brother is dead and having to grow up lying to protect urself and growing up without ur best friend and someone you love deeply and u cant grow up because hes not there to do ur plans together so u try to go find him in hopes that hey maybe hes alive but ur certain hes dead and u go to find him after months. Years. And...... hes fine. He has a family. And he never got back to you. And all you can do is be angry bc he got a happy life and u had to do everything alone.

Tldr: The Betrayal Of Blood Is Caleb being stuck on the Boiling Isles because His future Wife took him and Philip was left behind.

Side note: I 100% believe Gus is going to be the one to make him remember his brother and these memories, and make him relive them. I do think he will probably be forced to talk about it. But since Zeno says no one dies, I do wonder if Gus literally makes him relive it forever in his mind forever.

Hey I don’t mean to be rude in any way I am trying to get this across in a very reasoning way-I saw your “Braj ki holi” fic and it’s tagged “Krishna x reader” somehow it just feels a bit iffy to me because you’ve also put it on your masterlist as “Fics” I don’t know if you follow or don’t but lord Krishna is not just a fictional character that you’d be writing fanfics????? He’s a god. A very loved deity and maybe it comes from a spiritual place for you—as in the love you hold for him but somewhat it’s inappropriate. “Fics” is what people write about some Netflix character or what not lord Krishna is a god-and I know everyone’s a different kind of bhakt but the fic thing’s made me very uncomfortable. A lot of religious sentiments are set with krishnaji and just someone writing a “fic” on him like he’s just another movie/series character seems so low to me

Hi there! I do get your point. I knew it that these works for some of you might come up as very casual writings on Krishna. I assure that I have never written these as a mere book character on whom I would write anything. My mother herself has read my stories and I had told her about the plot. I never mentioned in detail how and why I got this idea and why did I write so here you go.

The story started of as my own musings as a teen who was barely 13 or 14. It seemed silly but I enjoyed it. Later I had seen some modern themed rukmini Krishna paintings and the same story clicked in my head. This might seem like I am making it off to make myself seem right, but that's upto you. The girl in the story was the general idea from my kiddish story, but I also knew that I wasn't going to make just any random girl and pair him up. That's why I named her Bhaishmi after 'Rukmini who was Bhishmaka's daughter. I had mentioned it somewhere in the first part of the series in the tags but I guess not many have seen it.

But before it made sense to me that I was writing for Rukmini Krishna in a modern timeline, Bhaishmi was just a girl in my idea until it struck me after writing the first two chapters that I am writing it on them.

Now I wasn't even going to post it first. Weeks before I posted Train to Vrindavan I had just casually said here that once I had written a story on my phone about a girl meeting Krishna on a train with him in modern clothes and them being friends and having fun. I had received a lot of messages after that to post it here.

English is a limiting language or maybe I lacked in finding a proper tag or word to put these stories under it. If you see my other stories they are all inspired from gopis and classical dance pieces based on Krishna (I have even mentioned the names and dance productions). Not all the content in those dance pieces are true events that happen in Krishna's story and since these Krishna stories are majorly inspired from them, I thought that the best category would be 'Fics' since the scenes fictitious, not Krishna. If you have a better word for it, please do suggest me so I shall gladly make changes.

Now about Krishna x reader. You aren't wrong. Wrote it a year ago and I had even removed the tag once because Bhaishmi isn't a 'reader' but tumblr never let me find those posts many a times. I had tagged it to find these later on because sometimes I wouldn't find my own posts here to save or record which parts or scenes I had written. The tag is for me to find them. I still don't find them sometimes until I sit for hours and locate them again. Jo dikhta hai voh bikta hai toh I agree ki for anybody else it would appear as if I am treating as a normal character. Well I think I tried explaining it...?

And now that you have talked to me about it, for any future readers who stumble across it, it's modern Krishna Rukmini. You might wonder why I didn't edit it later then? I have been busy with too many things last year and tumblr glitches my posts half of the time. I didn't have the patience to search them again and edit it. My exams end in June. I already had plans to edit them after exams.

And yes, I am a Krishna devotee myself. Many of my friends who have read that series as well as the other stories are Krishna devotees too. If you feel inappropriate and offensive, I apologize for it. I have mentioned everything about those two series and thank you for sending a polite ask. Some literally start off with abusive words.
