Say It Again (Blue Jones x f!Reader)

When it all came down to it, it wasn’t so much what was said. Those were just words, hurled back and forth, the fever pitch rising with each exchange as you and Blue shouted words at each other.

Honestly, that was a normal night around here. You’d dance, he’d watch, some patron would have a little too much to drink and get handsy. If you were being honest, a lot of the time you and Blue weren’t exactly sober either. But he’d get the guy off you and (more often than not) kick him out of the club and ask if you were okay. And you generally were, and even when Blue inevitably made some rude comment, you were fine.

You were tough. You had to be, working at Lennox. You could take care of yourself, and it wouldn’t be the first time you’d kicked a creep where it counted. Blue was always highly amused by it, and secretly delighted. But he never said that. No, he’d just open that big stupid mouth of his and say whatever was on the tip of his tongue and nine times out of ten, the fight would start.

But tonight? The look on his face when you burst into tears was almost worth the actual crying. You hated crying.

The words had flown fast and furious. Blue was angry that he’d had to throw a certain customer out - again - and had said something about how you really knew how to bring ‘em in and maybe he was trying to be funny, but it failed miserably. That’s when the shouting began.

You don’t even remember what was said until Blue turned to pour himself a whiskey and muttered over his shoulder, “You know, sometimes I really don’t know why I bother with you.”

You promptly burst out in tears.

Blue promptly dropped his glass of booze.

You made for the door of his office, tears streaming down your face and your breath coming in great heaving sobs, and for a minute, Blue just stared dumbly at you. You never cried.

The knob was in your hand and halfway turned when he slotted himself between you and the door. “Where are you going?”

“Are you kidding?” you gulped. Everything was blurry and wet and you needed out. You tried to shove him aside, but he latched onto your arms and held you still.

“Was it what I said? You know I didn’t mean that.”

“Do I? Just let me go, Blue.”

His hands dropped to his sides and he took a step back. “I’m sorry.”

Through the haze of tears, your head snapped up and all you could do was blink. “What?”

“I’m sorry. That was uncalled for and you didn’t deserve it. I’m sorry.”

If you never cried, then Blue Jones never apologized. But here you were.

You hiccupped and took a deep breath. “I’m just... I’m so tired, Blue. I never know if you’re serious or joking and you’re always so... so mean, and normally I can let it go, but...”

The next thing you knew, Blue was gently wiping your face with a tissue.

“I really am sorry. I don’t know what got into me tonight. I guess just seeing that creep after you again, I got a little... jealous,” he admitted. “I got jealous and I’m sorry.”

You sank into his chest as his arms wrapped around you. “We might have to work on that,” you sniffled.

Blue chuckled sadly and traced his lips along your hairline. “If it means never having to see you cry again, I’d do anything for you. I love you.”

“Say it again.”

“What, that I’d literally eat a box of scorpions or stick my head in a beehive or...”

You giggled wetly and slapped him on the arm. “No, not that. The other part, the nice thing.”

“Oh, right,” he said as he tilted your chin up and kissed you softly on the lips. “I love you.”

“Again.”

“How many times am I gonna have to say it?”

You shrugged. “I dunno. Are you ever really gonna get tired of me?”

“Never in a million years, sweetheart. Because I love you.”

What if the two versions of Blue Jones were twins? One works at the Mental Hospital, and one works at the Club.

Orderly Blue is more reserved, always looking at you like he knows something you don't. He's quieter, voice more subdued, not as eccentric as his brother but still a sweet talker, knowing the right subtle words to twist people around his finger to get his way, or to explain away anything odd.

He keeps his anger in check better, repressing most of his insanity till it bubbles just under the surface, hiding everything behind his knowing smirk so you never know when you've stepped into his trap until you can't get out. Orderly Blue keeps his shading dealings more secretive, no one really checks whether the hospitals being skimmed for money, the girls left there don't have families that'll call to check up on them. This means the entire building is under his thumb, he has free reign, nobody to appease but himself.

Club Blue is the eccentric, outgoing one, the people person, the smooth talker. His anger is more explosive, happening when you least expect it, which can get him in hot water when he acts without thinking.

He gets more money from his business, has more connections due to his clientele and it boosts his ego, makes him feel like the important one. Since his business is more open to the public he feels the need to keep up appearances more, and is strict about what goes on behind the scenes. Anyone acting out of line and Club Blue will "take care of them"

The Twins work together to benefit themselves. If a dancer is acting out, Club Blue sends her to the Mental Hospital for "rehabilitation." If he needs someone to sub in for some dancers or needs a specific type, he'll ask Orderly Blue to send a girl over for a few days.

Likewise, if Orderly Blue is needing some extra funds for "treatments" and "maintenance", he asks his brother. If he needs some connections, like the High Roller that makes his bank from his lobotomy surgeries, Club Blue sends them over.

Their dynamic works, even if they both secretly hate each other and feel they do more to pull their weight than the other. Sometimes they'll slyly compete or screw each other over so they can to feel in control. Club Blue needs a forged signature for selling off a girl? Shame, Orderly Blue is busy doing therapy that day, but maybe if he had the extra cash he could hire a therapist instead. Orderly Blue needs a way to cover up a "missing" patient? Club Blue might be in good with the Chief of Police, but he'll need a girl for a few days to smooth the deal over.

A/N: Just a drabble to get my foot in the door with writing Murphy.

“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, lass!” Murphy was still crouched with his arms shielding his face. “Damn near took my head clean off!” You winced an apology when his blue eyes peeked over the black sleeve of his coat. “What was it you were doing?” He stood slowly, his focus on the heeled boot now lying next to the doorframe.

“There was a goddamn spider.” You whined from your safe place on top of your dining table.

“Lord’s name, love.” Murphy chided gently, walking toward you while still eyeing the dent in the drywall. Once he reached the four-seater, he looked up at you with a lopsided smile. “Really take all that to kill a spider?”

“If I had a flamethrower, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.”

He chuckled, extending his arms toward you in offer to help you down. “Aye. Likely me that’d be needing the fire extinguisher.” You bent and placed your hands on his shoulders while he squeezed your waist, lowering you to your feet. “Why don’t I take care of it then?”

“Please.” You pouted, needlessly adjusting the collar of his coat before batting your lashes at him. “I’ll make sure to compensate you for your time.” His gaze darkened, a brow arching at your insinuation.

“Consider it done, love.”

“Who the fuck do you think you are huh?! Who do you think you’re talking to! I’m in charge here!” He spat and grunted, a tear running down his cheek as he struggled against the restraints. You settled on the bed next to him.

“Blue… if you can’t listen I can’t help you dear.” You purred, running a finger down the side of his face and along his jaw. He attempted to pull away from your touch, fear flashing in his eyes. “I’ve been brought in just for you. Did they tell you who they were calling? Hm? Ah well, let me show you what I do” You smiled down at him, slowly rising and yanking the scrubs off of his lower half. Revealing a much larger package than you expected, already hard as a drop of precum connected his tip to his abdomen. “Oh this actually might be fun.” You let out a giggle.

“Hey! What the fuck! You fucking whore what do yo-“ you quickly dragged the gag back up to his mouth, muffling the obscenities spilling from it.

“Much better.” You smiled down at him “Now you listen -“ you spat on your hand and gently wrapped it around his girth. “If you are a good boy, and do as I say, this will be over much faster.” You began to stroke slowly. “Oh you know why -“ your grip tightened again and he lets out another whimper as tears started to stream “- and if half of the things I’ve heard about you are true. You and I are gonna get to know each other real well…”
