Hello DCTV fans, we have a new event for you - a promptathon.

How does it work? The event has two stages:

Stage 1

Runs from today until Oct 16th 2019 - prompt submissions.

By prompts, we mean scenarios/story ideas that you want to see a fanwork created for. Prompts should state what show(s) and characters they are for. For example:

“The Flash - Joe & Iris have a father-daughter day out“

“iZombie, Liv Moore, perks of being a zombie.”

“Doom Patrol, the team & found family.”

Prompts can be wordier than the above examples but please try to keep them to under 100 words.

There’s no limit on number of prompts submissions, just the deadline for getting them to us.

There’s no sign up for this event in either stage. Submitting a prompt doesn’t mean you have to create any fills for other prompts in stage 2. There is also no guarantee that someone will create a fanwork for your prompt but hopefully it will get a fill.

We’ll accept prompts here on tumblr via ask, to our email that is listed at the end of the FAQ or on the equivalent post over on our Dreamwidth community. You can submit prompts anonymously, but if you want notifying if your prompt gets filled please let us know your tumblr and/or ao3 username for gifting if your filler posts to tumblr/ao3.

Stage 2

Runs from Oct 18th until Jan 31st 2020 - time to fill the prompts.

We’ll compile the prompts we receive into a Google spreadsheet and release it into the wild so that people can claim prompts to create a fanwork for. Prompt fills can be any type of fanwork so long as they are gen focused and fulfill what the prompter is asking for.

Claiming a prompt means you want to create a fanwork for it. Though if you change your mind or get too busy you can unclaim it. You can do as many prompt fills for the event as you feel like, but you can only have one prompt claimed at a time. You can claim another prompt once you’re done with your first (or if you unclaim it).

Prompt fills can be posted on tumblr, ao3 or our Dreamwidth community and we will reblog posts we’re tagged in here, as well as do regular roundup posts.

So without further ado, let stage 1 begin - send us your gen prompts for the shows. If you want a reminder of which shows are eligible, check out our FAQ linked at the top of the blog.

This phase runs from Oct 18th-Jan 31st 2020 and this time will be used to fill in prompts!

To fill a prompt, simply type your username (Please specify if A03, Tumblr, Dreamwidth) in the correct space of a prompt on the spreadsheet to claim it. You can claim or unclaim a prompt at any point during the event, and you are also welcome to fill as many or as few as you’d like from now until the end of the event.

The prompt fills part of the Promptathon doesn’t end until Jan 31st. But yes, we’re happy to leave the document up for future reference and will accept fills after the Promptathon officially ends - the more gen the better no matter when it comes along. :)

Today’s unclaimed prompt is for Legends of Tomorrow - Mick taking salt with him on missions so his food tastes better, in time periods where salt is highly valued. He gets considered wealthy, and treated better for it, when he says he can get loads more if he wants and there are salt related shenanigans or just Mick enjoying people being respectful even if it's for a weird seeming reason.
