In 1923 Mimi became engaged to Nils Lundell, a Stockholm actor and director, and she married him in early 1927. In her letters to Mimi before the marriage—and after it—Greta expressed undying love for Mimi, depression with her own life, dislike of Hollywood once she moved there in 1925, and the hope that Mimi might become her permanent partner, despite the obstacles involved in achieving that goal. Above all, Greta didn’t want to lose Mimi, who was her major Swedish confidante until she met Countess Hörke Wachtmeister in 1929 on the steamship returning to Sweden from New York. Sometimes Mimi wavered in her commitment to Nils, as when she wrote a love letter to Greta from Venice in 1924 that awakened “a storm of longing” in Greta, who was then employed at Dramaten. She told Mimi that if she took twenty baths a day, she wouldn’t forget her. To her, their relationship was mystical, existing on a spiritual plane as well as a physical one. She wanted to put a world of longing in her letters for Mimi to experience. The letters sometimes refer to other women. Greta worried about Mimi’s involvement with Doris Nelson, a Stockholm actress who resembled Greta, while she admitted that she had been spending time with a stylish actress named Frau Mayer. But Frau Meyer was leaving Stockholm, and Greta feared that she would never see her again. “Now I believe,” she wrote, “that men live in a little hell when they see a soft, stylish woman and can’t have her.” She advised Mimi that they should stop criticizing men for their aggressively sexual natures because she had experienced an overwhelming sexual attraction to Frau Mayer. Yesterday in Pictures. I had bought a new jacket, because yesterday was the premiere of "Tröstrapporter" at Dramaten's big stage. Here is just before admission, 20 minutes before the show was supposed to start.

Then Gustaf came on stage. And he who was so phenomenal during the last rope week - now he put a new gear, was better than I have ever seen him.

I was no longer the director, I was a spectator, it was nice.

Memorable moment.

Immensely proud of the brother who today had the premiere of Tröstrapporter at Dramaten with an awfully good Gustaf Skarsgård in this monologue. Crying, laughing and mute silence. This play must be seen and felt on the spot.

Little Uncle Julius!

Here is Gurra again, although a little simpler and without trouble for you. I just wanted to try to thank Uncle for everything, but it's hard because you guys in K-d are so awfully kind. I can only thank you so simply, but I hope Uncle understands that I am happy and grateful for all the kindness shown to me. Mimmie must have called and talked about how we had it in Gothenburg If I can get near Stockh. which will be just before she travels to Norrland. I long for Mimosa! I think she is doing quite well when she travels now and the girl who is with her is a good girl, they share everything and seem to get along well, which is boundless luck. Hope Uncle secures first bench when it comes to K-d. Know Uncle, I honestly confess I wouldn't mind being there then. But I am preoccupied here at Dramaten. Duty, duty over everything. I'm very sad that Sven doesn't miss me one bit. Next time I see him he might be a great man with a fiancee, just tell him to beware of phony women. He is kind! And now, thank you little kind Uncle, for this time. In any case, I hope I haven't been so horribly troublesome. —
