Something I don’t see talked about often, probably due to how old KotOR is and the big Revan reveal overshadowing everything, is the excellent buildup for the Rakata.
Tumblr media
First, we see the symbol of the Sith Empire on Taris. It’s a nice little design, but there’s no indication of what it means or how significant it is yet.
Tumblr media
Then there’s an oddly similar symbol in the Dantooine ruins, which have been sealed for millennia. I’m sure that’s normal. And you talk to the droid, who only identifies an ancient species as “the Builders“, nothing more.
The buildup works best if you follow the intended order of Tatooine-> Kashyyyk-> Manaan-> Korriban. It’s on Tatooine you first see statues of the Rakata, left ruined in a cave, and the Builders are again referenced in the Sand People’s history.
Tumblr media
On Kashyyyk, you find a computer projecting a hologram of this species, supervising another terraforming project. The species still isn’t identified, but this is the first complete representation of them so far.
On Manaan, there’s more evidence of the Rakata tampering with planets since before the Republic. Then on Korriban, you’re given the Box. You talk to a member of this unknown species, whose mind is imprisoned within and can’t recall very much. He speaks to you in the same language as the Dantooine droid, which Revan couldn’t understand at the time, foreshadowing how Revan’s memories are returning as this happens.
Tumblr media
(I’m actually a little annoyed the character is named “Rakatan“ instead of something like “Prisoner“ because that name isn’t known yet, but anyway...)
Soon enough, you finally get to the Star Forge after gathering five maps. We all know what it looks like now, but most of us didn’t during the first playthrough.
Tumblr media
It looks like those damn symbols. The mysterious superweapon everyone’s been searching for is on the Sith’s banner. Revan, you motherfucker.
You see the monument of the Rakata’s infinite power, then you get sent crashing down onto their homeworld for the first encounter with living, modern Rakata.
Tumblr media
They used to rule the galaxy. Now they have swords and do spinny kicks.
Revan, you’d better be careful with that space station.

Week Six of Spring Has Sprung 2024: Creativity and Innovation!
Tumblr media
Daniel, or Danny (son of Tadashi and Fred Hamada) inherited Tadashi's love of robotics, and someday he wants to make robots that help people just like his papa. He enjoys tinkering around in the garage in his spare time, and he's currently working on making a miniature version of Baymax, his papa's most famous creation, based off of old blueprints that he found.
Tumblr media
Dawn (daughter of Hera and Kanan Jarrus) also loves robotics, although for her it's more of a hobby--but a hobby with a lot of heart. She wants to be a pilot like her mom when she grows up, but her family also spends time volunteering with Star Wars charity groups like the Rebel Legion and Droid Builders. She's too young to be an official member of either group, but she loves seeing the way her mom's droid, Chopper, makes people smile, so she's been working on her own mini droid, Chopper Jr!
Tumblr media
They may not be related by blood (Dawn's adopted older brother Ezra is Danny's uncle by marriage--Dawn was born when Ezra was seventeen) but Danny and Dawn still consider each other family, and Danny always makes time for Dawn when she has questions about robotics or just wants to geek out over some cool new innovation she's discovered!

Favorite Lightsabers explanations
original post:
https://www.tumblr.com/short-wooloo/714444043240783872/short-wooloo-favorite-jedi-lightsabers-1-mace
1. Mace: THE purple lightsaber, to the point that I'm unwilling to accept anyone else having a purple saber while Mace is alive (before or after is fine, but my headcanon is Mace's concentrated awesomeness caused the Force to go "no one else gets a purple one"), the shock and surprise at a purple saber onscreen in aotc is one of my most cherished memories, I also love the hilts design, the slender semi-symmetry and gold accents
2. Yoda: I can never get over the simple fact that Yoda has a lightsaber, as a kid I didn't think it was allowed, so seeing him draw his saber in the theater (much like Mace's purple) blew my mind, and I love how Yoda's saber has some visual cues and similarities to the other sabers of the lineage
3. Obi-Wan (TPM): this one was MY LIGHTSABER as a kid, I had a toy of this one and I'd spend hours running around pretending to be Obi-Wan and cut down battle droids
4. Luke: the original green lightsaber, everyone who has one lives in Luke's shadow, I also think Luke's is a better version of Obi-Wan's lightsaber design, the mostly silver with a hint of Bronze accenting it really just works, and the green is just so pretty, this saber is the reason why the high end toy saber I bought has a green blade
5. Stellan Gios: I love it because it does something I never considered, it's BOTH kinds of crossguard saber! Physical and energy blade, thus it's also insanely practical too! Now your hands are protected from the crossguard blades, and I like how when deactivated the physical crossguard folds up
6. Rey: first yellow saber onscreen! Wish it hadn't been only at the end, would have put this one higher (3rd or 4th) if so (at least I have the LEGO Holiday special), but since Rey's getting a new movie, we'll see more of it in action and I'll have to move it up on the list, but anyways I love how it's made from Rey's staff, it represents where she came from and what she’s become, symbolism is great
7. Tenel Ka: Its a lightsaber made into a tooth, that is so cool, love it, reused it for an oc, also it's the only instance I can think of in SW where a first attempt at building a lightsaber went wrong and the builder had to redo it
8. F: Yellow lightsaber and a katana? Yes please!
9. Zayne Carrick: I don’t think he was the one who introduced me to the idea of yellow lightsabers, but he is the one who popularized it for me, and I think he’s the first major/lead protagonist in a SW story to have one, or at the very least his story was the first I read where the lead had a yellow lightsaber
10. Gungi: I love stuff carved from wood, my favorite aesthetic, so a lightsaber with a wooden hilt is an instant win for me, and the green blade just makes it feel so natural
Bonus, Megatron: it's purple and its a transformer lightsaber! It needs to be in more Megatron toys

Clone Wars - Rookies
Now that I've got a laptop I can actually type on... time to get back into the rewatch with AN EPISODE THAT WILL PAIN ME.
'The best confidence builder is experience' yeah assuming that you get to have that and don't just get brutally killed on your first assignment. If you get past all of that, then you can get confidence building experience.
Unfortunately, because of the relentless demands of battle, many young clones must join the struggle before their intensive training has been completed.
LIKE COME ON. I'M FERAL. THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET TRAINED FULLY AND WERE SENT OUT ANYWAY. Tragic how that Just Has to Happen, there's no other way we definitely can't recruit people that aren't clones and have volunteered for this. That's impossible, sorry.
*checks time* we're at about 40 seconds now, I'm going to be so normal about this. Sooooo normal.
God though do I love Echo. I LIKE THAT IT'S SO QUIET OUT HERE :D GIVES ME TIME TO CATCH UP ON THE REG MANUALS :D what a nerd. A precious, precious nerd. Who knew that in a few short years they would be running around with a squad full of unadulterated chaos like the batch?
Tumblr media
Shout out to Sergeant O'Niner for extreme handsomeness, I just love the greying look, so sue me.
Also Obi-Wan getting after Anakin for not sleeping, this is likely such a long running argument. I seem to remember the ROTS novelization said something about how Anakin didn't sleep for pretty much the entirety of it. BAD HABITS WILL GET YOU IN THE END. One day you're skimping on sleep to find General Grievous and the next you haven't slept in five days and you've murdered the younglings.
I love "Good man, that Cody" how often does Obi-Wan just randomly compliment Cody the instant he hangs up?
Hevy is so unimpressed by the meteor shower, in one last bit of humor before clone boys start dying. O'Niner's death is particularly brutal with the POV shot of three blasters gunning him down, but I hate all of it 😭Wasting absolutely no time cutting the clone numbers in half, including poor, unfortunately named Droidbait. (I can't get over that name, I simply can't. Nothing says awkward like memorializing your comrade Droidbait, who was murdered by droids.)
Also the specific way the droid changes its voice, the grabbing at its neck and apparently physically forcing its voice module into a clone voice. Upsetting to look at! But worth it for 'we do not need an inspection! Everything's fine! :)' Maximum suspicious behavior. And Cody's main reaction is just 'you know what? I need this to not be my problem. Rex is in charge.' I feel like we underestimate the amount of Little Shit Cody can be when he feels like it.
Mid typing of course, Cutup got eaten by an eel. RIP. I do feel like this part is played a little too lightly, they call out Cutup's name and say poor Cutup and all but no one seems all that like, distressed, that he's gone. At the very least that's 25% of their remaining manpower! Show some concern guys!
Moving on though, this lighting is doing Cody's paint job no favors.
Tumblr media
I do love how unnerving the droid pretending to be a clone is though. Droid like 'how do clones act? Gestures? They gesture right?' and proceeds to do it in the worst way possible.
Rex is showing off a great dichotomy here, with Anakin and Ahsoka he always comes off as the cool headed one that tries to do things by the book, but when he hauls off and shoots the suspicious 'clone' in the face, Cody is HORRIFIED AND CONFUSED. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? One squad's voice of reason is another squad's absolute lunatic.
Speaking of characterization notes, I still find it a little odd that Fives has gotten the full party boy characterization of the Echo & Fives set in fanon when he's almost as rigid as Echo here, at least when set against Hevy. He introduces himself to Rex and Cody by his CT number and it's Hevy that fills in their actual names. I feel like he loosens up over the show, but he's definitely more by the book than people give him credit for. The real difference between the two as set up seems to be that Fives is a little more assertive (but kind of quieter) to Echo's soft spoken but chatty personality.
HANDPRINT THOUGH, HANDPRINT HANDPRINT. Literally if I could change one (1) small thing about TBB it's that I would give Echo back their handprint. I hate that they don't have it, it's integral damn it.
Rex breaking back in is still one of my favorite parts. Holding up the severed head up to the camera while Cody just goes THIS IS NEVER GOING TO WORK. Give him some credit, Cody, he knows what he's doing.
"Permission to take point, sir?" "I'm always first, kid."
Every day, Rex is just out here being unspeakably attractive. (And Echo is being unspeakably cute. "I GOT ONE :D")
Rex yet again showing his insane levels by going straight to 'guess we blow the whole place up' as his battle plan. No chill in this man, none at ALL.
Also, the detonator not hooking up with the handset. I can't believe that Hevy gets killed by fucking. Bluetooth issues. Imagine that your life rests on getting two pieces of technology to fucking communicate with each other. And Rex and Cody's immediate reaction is they need to GO BACK AND GET HIM RIGHT NOW, no one wants him to sacrifice himself, that wasn't what he was supposed to do when Rex left him to fix the detonator. I'm sure he gets hella survivors guilt from that. He left the rookie behind, it probably feels like his fault that Hevy is gone. Just pile the problems on him, just do it.
Echo having a tendency to make questionably timed jokes is. Certainly something. Like, Cutup gets eaten by an eel - that's why the regulations say don't go outside! Hevy gets blown up - Hevy always did hate that place! Like. Baby. Do you have to say that NOW? They perhaps have some filter issues.
Triumphant ending! Everyone except these two has died horribly! But they have medals you see!
It's still one of my favorite episodes though. All clones all the time, lots of chances to fawn over my boys, I can never turn that down. Echo my beloved ❤️

Grogu vs Anzellan / The Mandalorian

Grogu definitely had a cold. Not a bad cold. He wasn’t accidentally using the Force to pick things up and drop them or send them shooting out of his room. Nope. He was just tired. And his throat was sore. And his eyes were still red.
His dad had been bringing him cups of tea and broth to help sooth his throat, which only resulted in Grogu feeling like he was floating from the inside. That was a lot less pleasant than he had hoped it might feel. His dad had also been cleaning the cabin to a ridiculous extent to see if that helped with the red color in his eyes (it didn’t).
Grogu just wanted to be left alone for a change and even tried to lock the door to the room so his dad couldn’t keep checking up on him every few minutes. That didn’t work. Not only because the Mandalorian was more than capable of dealing with a locked door, but because the door didn’t have a lock to begin with and that just annoyed Grogu even more.
Grogu hadn’t given up his plan to set up  the ‘It was a dark and scary night…uh stormy night’ festival for Clan Mudhorn and friends. He knew where he wanted to hold it, what kind of decorations and other set dressing he’d use to make the whole place seem like a nightmare, what kind of food should be served, and all that kind of stuff. He’d even written it up in his datapad between the bed checks his dad was doing.
His problem, other than feeling like he was turning into some sort of Sith-like monster, was that his dad wasn’t going to let him go shopping for any of the stuff he needed for the festival. Not when he looked and felt this crummy.
Grogu heard a soft knock at the door and mumbled something close to ‘come in’. Din Djarin peeked around the door.
“Hey buddy, I’m going to send R5 into town to pick up some things. Do you want anything?”
That question sounded so innocent and the timing was perfect. Grogu nodded his head and pulled out his data pad and tapped into quickly before his dad could look at what he was doing. The Mandalorian just waited and when he was done, Grogu chirped at him as briefly as possible.
“Okay, you sent a list of things to R5 and its prioritized and its all supposed to be stored in the shed?” His dad asked, verifying his understanding.
Grogu nodded his head.
“Buddy, that’s all fine, but we don’t have a shed.”
Grogu sighed deeply, rolled his eyes, and coo’d at his dad in short burst of sound.
“Materials to build the shed are on the list? Grogu, that’s not what R5 is for. She’s an astro-mech, not a builder. I’m happy to help her, but I thought you’d just want some different tea or a sleeve of cookies. It’s okay. Just don’t wear yourself out. Your eyes are practically glowing red. I’ll add eye drops to the list and maybe that will help.”
Then his dad left the room, calling out for R5. Grogu was pleased by how his plan was beginning to take shape. He rubbed his hands together and began to laugh. The laugh turned into a cackle and then the moment was ruined when the cackle turned into a cough and Grogu wished he’d thought to ask R5 to get him some cough syrup. Dank Farrik!
But he was glad that his dad had gotten used to having a mech around the cabin who could help them both with the work they needed to do. R5 was great at maintaining the N-1, especially polishing it’s very shiny surface, a task that Grogu neither liked, nor possessed any skill for performing. His dad often complained that the ship had more smudges and handprints on it when Grogu completed the chore than when he started it. Grogu never liked doing that chore so he wasn’t sad when the Mandalorian assigned it to R5.
Grogu giggled when he thought about the time Peli Motto was yelling at the pit droids who were servicing the old Razor Crest and complained that they were spooking his dad so badly they would give ‘all droids a bad name’. Those times had changed. Now his dad was letting the little astro mech do their shopping and considered IG-11-M to be a good friend to Clan Mudhorn.
Din Djarin was even polite to the High Magistrate’s protocol droid. Grogu giggled even more at that because it seemed like the protocol droid had developed a fondness for the Mandalorian that annoyed the High Magistrate. But Grogu supposed that if the High Magistrate went around in a shiny  beskar suit all the time, maybe the protocol droid would have a crush on him too.
Just the thought of that made Grogu giggle again and that felt good. He didn’t cough after giggling. He didn’t know why, but it made him feel better, not worse, unlike the cackling.
There was another tap at his door and Grogu called out, “Enter!” His dad came into the room and he had a cup of fresh broth and small bowl of freeze dried froglets for Grogu.
“Here you go buddy, for when you get hungry again. Hey, your eyes are looking better. Great. That must mean you’re finally getting over this cold. If you need anything I’ll be outside working on the N-1. Love you pal.”
Grogu smiled at his dad and signed that he loved him too. He was too choked up to say anything. He didn’t want to start coughing again and ruin everything, even though he actually felt really good right then. Maybe he was getting over his cold… but only time would tell.
