Tour Guide: The great thing about these townhomes is how close they are to everything. Lecture halls, the library, the cafe, and even the theatre which I'm sure, you'll love, Your Royal Highness.

Ella: I will love that! I'll never be late to ballet practice.

Bria: And, how safe would you say this area of campus is? We are sending off our little girl here all alone after all.

Ella grumbles: Mom...

Emmitt: That's a fair question, Elle.

Tour Guide: Oh, very safe, ma'am. Our campus police patrol the area 24/7, there are emergency beacons all over campus, and of course, The Duchess is welcome to have her protection officers, as well.

Ella: Guys in dark glasses and suits following me around campus. A very normal college experience.

Emmitt: We'll ensure that they're not intrusive, honey.

Tour Guide: If you follow me this way, I can show you inside one of our model homes similar to the one The Duchess would be staying in if she chose BUS.

Tour Guide: So, this is a pretty standard 2 bedroom unit. Each home has a kitchen, living space, and each student has their own floor which includes a bathroom.

Bria: And what about roommates? I don't want just any old body living with my baby.

Ella embarrased: Oh my, Watcher!

Tour Guide: You have the option to purchase one bedroom or the entire house for a semester, so if you did purchase the entire townhome, a roommate wouldn't be assigned.

Bria: Got it. And I'm sure that's a fortune. Will she at least have creative control to make the space her own? Because this place does not scream Ella.

Tour Guide: Um, well, it's not common that students make significant changes... but as long as the unit is returned to its original state, I don't see why not!

Emmitt: Well, we don't want any special treatment...

Bria: And why not?

Ella annoyed: Mom, you're being so embarrasing!

Emmitt: Uh, Sondra, isn't it? Does the Prime Minister's son, Anthony, live near here? He and Ella are good friends and the Prime Minister is the one who recommended these townhomes to us.

Sondra: Why, yes, Your Royal Highness. The Count lives in this building actually.

Emmitt: That's great, huh, Ella? And good for Ella to have some friends close by.

Bria laughs: As long as they're not throwing any wild college parties... without me!

Emmitt laughs: I certainly couldn't picture a kid like Anthony or Ella throwing any, what do they say, ragers?

Ella: Watcher, help me.

Emmitt: So, Ella. What do you think? Are you excited? How do you feel about BUS?

WIP Titles + Canons

Because I posted my first genuine Old Canon snippet yesterday and I also talk a lot about Old/Middle/New Canon now I wanted to take my list from the WIP titles tag and break it down a little more into my rough canons, with some notes about how un/hinged some of these ideas were. I will in fact answer asks about these but I reserve the right to [skip egregious James nonsense]

Pajiir & Delphonus

(the numbered ones are versions typically with multiple drafts)

Old Canon

[1] Azalea the Book (sorry it's just Secrets of Droon but…not that great I was like 8-10 for this. Azalea is the princesstagonist and Zalen is the barely-seen villain)

[2] Azalea Sequels (see above)

[3] Azalea Dream Beginning (ambitious. weird. chocolatey. there was torture??? this draft sucks [mostly affectionate])

[4] Azalea 3 (the origin of Dez and Julian, but they were pawns/patsies in Zalen's wildly ambitious plan to kidnap the entire royal family and then become king [bc he was Azalea's cousin]. I also got super distracted with him just like. falling in love with the royal police chief. There's some really cute stuff in these drafts but most of it is barely plot relevant. There was also a secret spy organization that was plot relevant or would have been eventually? Also first appearances of Kirnus, Hoven, Candra, Emmitt, Bean, and Franny)

[4.5] Meldraco (tiny draft about an orphan adopted by a nobleman who shadow runs a country, from whose estate he plans to escape. sounds cooler than it actually was tbh)

[5] Hope (the last hurrah of "Zalen is the villain" stories)

[6] Princess Azalea (what if the conflict was not "Zalen is the villain" but ghosts, need to procure magic seeds for an overly convoluted birthday present, summer camp, swl power struggles, or maybe Zalen kind of I don't remember what was supposed to happen? Origin of Syndy and a bunch of swl and imbra characters.)

Middle Canon

[7] Spacefarer Stories (wild space adventure involving evil scientist aliens, the rebellion against evil scientist aliens, the previous version of Dez being a charismatic asshole action hero, early versions of Anni/Julian/Dez dynamics, Zalen being pathetic, and a teenager who just wants to stop enduring corporal punishment and being shot back to Pajiir in a tiny space capsule. First appearances of several Melichacha crew members)

[8] Zalen the First (Autobio) (literally what it sounds like, Zalen's autobiography & related. surprisingly not a bad read)

HS - Horatio's Story (attempted reframing, kinda nothing)

Dancing with the Stars Season 3 Rewatch: Week 4

Monique and Louis- Waltz (Judges' Score=24, My Score=9)- I actually cannot find the whole video that has the best quality, so I'm working with very little here. I'm actually not sure why they only got a 24 for this dance. From what I could see, everything was executed incredibly well. I guess maybe her frame could use more work and there seemed to be a small problem halfway through (it may have been a stumble). But otherwise, straight 8s was too low. Just another clear example of the women (especially Monique) getting judged on a harsher scale during this season.

Emmitt and Cheryl- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=24, My Score=8)- This was much better. Emmitt looked more confident this week. His shaping was really nice. I loved his posture. I did think his footwork got a little tangled up toward the end and his hands need work. They were an eyesore. But, I was happy with what they churned out.

Willa and Maks- Waltz (Judges' Score=28, My Score=10)- Finally! Willa finally delivered in a way that I knew she was capable of. This dance was gorgeous. Her frame was stunning. I loved the rise an fall. Her technique was really on point. It was polished. She was super elegant. I just loved it.

Sara and Tony- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=20, My Score=7)- Okay, so technically this dance was not bad. In fact, the technique was very very sound. But, the performance was lacking. She did not have the attitude or the attack that is necessary for a good to great paso. It was very pedestrian and considering how her dance was last week, that was very disappointing. And I have to blame Tony for this as well. His choreo is just so soft and a lot of times, comes off as pedestrian and weak. This is especially true when his partners aren't ringers (even if they are capable of doing way more).

Jerry and Kym- Waltz (Judges' Score=22, My Score=7)- I have to say that this was Jerry's best dance so far. Easily. You could tell how much this dance meant to him. You could see all the attention to detail. And of course, you could see all the emotions. 22 may have been too high. But considering the context of it all, I don't have any gripes with it.

Vivica and Nick- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=24, My Score=8)- I kind of went back and forth between an 8 and 9 for this dance. I ended up giving it an 8 because even though the performance was great, I think I felt the shaping and the technique got a little sloppy here and there. She needed just a bit more refinement for this dance to have been taken to the next level. I hate that this was her last dance though. She had so much more to give.

Joey and Edyta- Waltz (Judges' Score=27, My Score=8)- Joey has been scored extremely leniently during this competition. I don't think this was 27 worthy. I think 24/25 would be best. It wasn't very smooth. The rise and fall was lacking. And I think his arms went past the plane that they were suppose to be in.

Mario and Karina- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=29, My Score=9)- This was a great dance. Mario was super clean and sharp. He was in character. I saw the attack. But I actually completely agreed with Len here. It was a bit wild and he lacked posture.

Unfortunately the bottom 2 this week was Monique and Vivica. I hate that either one had to go so soon. If I had to pick one person to leave, it would've been Sara. But Vivica left. And I hate that because she was improving so much and really embraced the competition. Again, we see the judges kind of overscore the men while underscoring the women. That theme is definitely going to go on for the entire season and we will probably see it the next few seasons tbh. Let me know you all's thoughts on this if you have any and I will talk to you all next week for sure.

Q: What new release are you most excited for today?. I'm so glad A Show For Two is officially out in the world! I read Counting Down With You back in March and fell in love with @tashiebhuiyan’s writing, so I can't wait to start A Show For Two - my audiobook hold just came in and I'm listening to it today. Dancing with the Stars Season 3 Rewatch: Week 10

It's the finals. And I just wanted to get this over with with so we can start with season 31 tomorrow. So, let's just do it.

Same Style, Same Song Round

Emmitt and Cheryl- Samba (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- Emmitt is honestly completely in his wheelhouse when he does the Latin styles. He's just so good and has such a great time dancing. He has so much charisma and he's just a natural performer. I also don't think people talk enough about his transformation throughout the season. He was always good, though a little sloppy. And then sometime around week 7, the sloppiness got cleaned up and he truly blossomed.

Mario and Karina- Samba (Judges' Score=29, My Score=10)- Where Emmitt has been the showman of the season, Mario has been the technician. But, I have to say that he performed really really well. He let loose in a way that is rare. And even when he does let loose, this was the first time I think I saw him really just completely enjoy everything and be comfortable about everything. I did see the mistake Len was talking about, but I also saw a mistake in Emmitt's and decided to overlook both. They were both tiny and really didn't harm the dances in my opinion.

Dance Redo Round (Or Whatever)

Emmitt and Cheryl- Mambo (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- The last time they did this dance, my issue was that Emmitt was a little too stompy. He definitely fixed that this time around. But beyond that, the performance was way more explosive this time. This was a great dance for them to redo.

Mario and Karina- Paso Doble (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- Last time I felt Mario was pretty wild and his posture was not great. This time around, neither one of those was an issue. I was shocked at how different this dance looked from week 4 to now. Mario's confidence improved so much over the season and this dance really proved that.

Freestyle Round

Emmitt and Cheryl (Judges' Score=29, My Score=9)- This was a really good dance too. Emmitt really turned the burners on in the last three weeks of the competition. Again, he was charismatic and put on a SHOW! Unfortunately I think he got a little lost for a few counts right in the middle. He covered it up really well, but I saw it. So that's where my 9 comes from.

Mario and Karina (Judges' Score=30, My Score=9)- Meh. This was cool. I've never really cared for it when the DWTS pros do hip-hop type numbers (outside of a select few). Besides that, Mario also messed up right in the middle. During their side by side, he wasn't exactly matched with her for a few moments. So yeah, I'd give these freestyles the same scores. But I think I liked Emmitt's better.

My Rankings and Scores out of 90:

1 Emmitt and Cheryl- 89 (30 for samba and mambo, 29 for freestyle) = Mario and Karina- 89 (30 for samba and paso, 29 for freestyle)

It was honestly a dead heat and came down to the fan vote. So as we all know, Emmitt and Cheryl won and it was honestly well deserved. Either couple could have won and it would've been a great outcome though. But after rewatching this season, I still don't understand why Mario still seems to be salty about not winning. He got 2nd to a worthy competitor. It's not like he lost to someone like Skeleton. Emmitt was a top 5 dancer this season. So was Mario. He's lucky the judges were very hard on Monique, because I feel like she could've snatched second from him had she been scored more fairly during the season. But that's all I have. Emmitt was a much better dancer than I remembered. Mario was too. Both of them really got it together at the end. Monique, Vivica and Willa were all treats to watch. Joey was decent but a real nice person that was charming. And Jerry was honestly the heart of the season. This was a really good season. I miss when the seasons used to be like this. I dread the day I watch the season where the downward trend starts (Season 9).
