MABINALDO HANNIBAL AU IDEA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the dream fic I wanted to read but since I can’t find it I will make it.
Miong > Hannibal Lecter
Pole > Will Graham
Goyong > Abigail Hobbs
Pepe > Margot Verger
Andoy > Alana Bloom
I was thinking twice if Miong deserves to be a Hannibal Lecter because he isn’t that historically smart (Just fancy), but then I remember, Hannibal Lecter isn’t that particularly smart either. Man made a series of bad decisions throughout the series, and that’s very fitting for Miong. Instead of a psychiatric doctor, Miong here is a powerful politician.
And Pole, he’s considered a genius in his field, so that’s very fitting of my boy and idol. But Will Graham is a mentally disturbed cutie, ohno, how can this fit to Pole who is our very strong and sassy overachieving leader?  Instead of a professor/criminal profiler, Pole here is a hot shot law professor/prosecutor.
And instead of the STAG, I will use Tikbalang for Miong. The sculpture is “Tikbalang” by Solomon Saprid.
I will use Henlu personalities instead of NBC Hannibal personalities, so the story will flow according to their character and will probably not follow the series plot. You may read it without watching the series.
I will only incorporate Hannibal themes which are (1) Miong is a cannibalistic serial killer (2) Pole just got roped in a series of unfortunate murders because a certain politician got too interested in him (3) there is a surrogate child that was a victim of killings.
I will reblog the Ao3 link to this post someday. (gosh I hope it really happens. I have 3 wips on Ao3 rn)

I just saw the teaser for Pulang Araw and honestly I hope it's good.
We need more historical series and especially ones that aren't just centered during either precolonial Philippines or the Spanish colonial period.
More stories focused on the American colonial period these past ten years had been cool to see like Heneral Luna, Goyong, and Ang Larawan among other titles, but we don't really have much movies or shows that focus on the Japanese colonial period.
Hope it's a good show and a good hit too like Maria Clara at Ibarra was.

𝙇𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙖ˢᵘᵍᵃʳᶜᵃⁿᵉ
LOUD clattering of utensils were heard in the awkward silence of dinner between the Nable Jose's dining room, But Don Mariano Nable Jose cleared his throat and started to speak.
"Balita ko, pupunta na dito ang squad ni General Goyo... "
(Y/N) Nable Jose, the eldest daughter of Don Mariano halted her actions as her heart beat fastened scared that her hometown are the next targets of the Americans.
"Ama, hindi ka ba natatakot?" (Y/N) looked at her father her brows furrowed in concern, her eyes glistening in fear that once the Americans targeted Dagupan it'll be their last breath.
"Huwag kang mag alala anak ko, magkakaroon rin ng katapusan ang digmaang ito. Ang kalayaan ay kahit ito'y napakalayo sa ating kinahuhuntungan, ito'y upang maabot lamang kung ipaglalaban mo ito, ay sigurado na maabot mo ang kalayaan."
His eldest daughter just nodded but still clouded with concern and fear. The dinner finished just after a few minutes, Don Mariano daughters' went ahead to their quarters.
Don Mariano could only sigh as he looked at the sky standing on his room's terrace, he leaned on the railings contemplating if he did the right thing to protect his daughters away from war. Yet his precious daughters grew up in fear for their lives, afraid to foresee the future, afraid losing one another.
But alas, Don Mariano's head started to hurt from the things he have to worry about. Finally darkness surrounded him and lulled him to sleep.
The next day approached faster than expected, (Y/N) was brushing her hair when she heard loud and quick footsteps. She immediately ran to check, slowly peeking out of her door when she knew that it was clear she rushed to the living room. (Y/N) stopped in her path once she saw people wearing uniforms, who was already looking at her due to her shoes that made loud noises alerting them her presence.
"Oh! Ito ang panganay kong anak, Siya ang susunod na tagapagmana ng mga ang aking mga Sailboats at yate. Depende kung mag aasawa na siya."
Don Mariano, proudly boasted his Eldest daughter who was flustered from her dad's compliments and from all the eyes trained on her. But one person stood out more, It was General Goyo who was obviously eyeing (Y/N) in curiosity and awe at her beauty.
General Goyo's presence was strong and kind of intimidating due to him being nicknamed  'The Boy General', and that was all not for nothing he was known all around the Philippines. With every glance he made in her direction, she felt an anxious tingly in the back of her neck, but there was something else there too.
A quiet hum of something unspoken between them. The general's gaze had a warmth to it that made her weak in the knees, and his smile only made her feelings grow deeper. But she dared not express it.The longing glances that General Goyo sent to (Y/N) made her nervous. Thinking that she did something disrespectful, yet Don Mariano haven't noticed General Goyo and his Older brother, Julian looking at his daughter.
Colonel Vicente, Goyo and Julian's best friend could inly shake his head sighing knowing that his playboy best friends found another target.
"..(Y/N) Nable Jose, ang panganay na anak.."(Y/N) timidly introduced herself to Goyo and the others who was with him. As (Y/N) introduced herself Goyo could only smirk thinking that Don Mariano's daughter would easily fall for his charisma.
"Gregorio Del Pilar O kaya naman ay 'goyong' na lang ang tawag mo sa akin, Aking Binibini" Goyo then gently took (Y/N)'s hands and placed a soft, tender kiss on her hands. Goyo's subtle flirting didn't go unnoticed by (Y/N), Julian, and Vicente whose eyes were wide by the General's words.
Julian and Vicente was the most shocked, Only people that are close to Goyo could only call him 'goyong'.
"Si Manuel!" Julian yelled when he saw Manuel Bernal carefully sneaking out from one of the rooms in Don Mariano's house. "Habulin Niyo!" Almost immediately Julian chased after Manuel but failed in doing so because Manuel jumped from the window. After that ruckus Goyo's squad managed to capture Manuel, Meanwhile Manuel's youngest brother Angel was pleading and questioning his captors.
"Ano gagawin niyo kay kuya?! Sabi nyo hindi niyo siya sasaktan!"  This caught (Y/N)'s attention, something sparked inside her. She felt anger and guilt for not doing anything she was only a woman, she has no authority to command the General or his squad. Then her father was surprisingly in front of her, she must've zoned out.
"Wag niyo siyang sasaktan Heneral." Don Mariano also pleaded worried for the Bernal Brothers.
"Huwag po kayong mag aalala, Don Mariano" While Goyo was talking to Don Mariano, The General can't help but steal glances towards you.
"Pasensya narin po sa abala, Babawi ho kami mamaya."  Goyo then shot (Y/N) his signature look. (Y/N) is surely gonna fall for that, right?
"Babalik ka, Goyo?" Julian asked his younger brother surprised that he wants to return to the Mansion of Don Mariano.
"Diba si Teresing, nasa kabilang bayan lang?" Vicente frowned when he whispered his question to Julian, who only shrugged
"Kailan ba siya pinigilan niyan? Kahit panga na magkapit bahay sila, ala syang paki" Julain scoffed at Vicente's remark, brushing off the fact that his younger brother's lover were just a town away. With one last look towards (Y/N), Goyo finally broke the eye contact and left to finish his business with Manuel Bernal.

Temple Kitten ~ *Kuko Harai*
Tumblr media
Summary: At the temple, Kuko finds a stray kitten. As it follows him around, he starts to seriously consider getting a temple cat.
Pairing: Kuko Harai X G/n!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Drabble
Word Count: 464
Warning: N/A
Masterlist
Now, it’s not that Kuko didn’t like animals. It’s just that he was far too busy to take care of a pet. But when he noticed the little orange kitten sniffing around the temple, he seriously considered keeping it.
For starters, it didn’t have a collar. It also seemed to follow him as he did his chores. It felt like fate. Not that he’d admit that out loud. Instead he continued to work while keeping an eye on the kitten, making sure it was safe and taken care of.
When he took a break for lunch, he got a small bowl of water and fed it a bit of his sandwich. He laughed as it tried to steal more and scolded it playfully. Perhaps taking care of a cat wouldn’t be so hard. Besides, a temple cat could keep away the mice.
“What do you say?” He asked the kitten squirming in his lap. “Think you’d want to stay?”
Sure he felt a little silly for talking to it, but he swore the kitten understood what he asked. It practically purred with delight. This just made Kuko’s heart melt.
“Well, you’re going to need a name. How about-”
“Mao! Mao, where are you?”
Looking up, Kuko saw a very pretty individual looking around frantically. However, upon seeing him, they sighed with relief. He backed up a step as they bounded towards him.
“Oh Mao! There you are!” They smiled at him. “Thank you so very much for finding him! I’ve been looking everywhere for him!”
He nodded slowly. “Yeah…”
“How can I ever repay you?”
Kuko shrugged. If he was feeling more petty than he already was, he’d ask for a new temple cat from them. But he kept his mouth shut.
Looking down at Mao, they said. “Well, Mao is the runt of the litter of kittens that were born a couple days ago. I can’t give him to you. But if you want one, you can have one. I can’t take care of all eight by myself, plus their mother.”
He hoped he didn’t look too eager as he answered, “Well, this temple could use a temple cat.”
Kuko could practically see the hearts in their eyes. “Oh my goodness that would be adorable! Yes, you’re taking one now! I’ll let you pick! My house isn’t far.”
Well it got him out of work, plus he got a free kitten.
As he followed them home, he asked, “What kind of name is Mao anyway?”
“Oh, it’s Chinese for cat.”
“That’s dumb.”
“Then I probably shouldn’t tell you that I named the other kittens Cat in different languages.”
He gave you an incredulous look. “Really?”
They nodded. “Yep! Mao, Katze, Gata, Chat, Neko, Goyong-i, Billee, and Maur.”
“Wow.” He paused. “I want Neko.”

Summary: Holiday-related fic in which the Alcantara mother and daughter reflect on a Christmas without their relative and worrying over Jo Gar's avoidance out of guilt.
CW: mentioned character death, slight discussion of trauma
"Ay I am worried."
"About what, Inahan? We will be on our way to the Midnight Mass and go back home for the Noche Buena, and besides, our food would be smashing even when they are not as bountiful as before."
"I am not worried about our Noche Buena, anak! It is just that..."
"Oh no, what is it, Inahan?"
"It is the poor lad Jo. Ever since that little visit after his arrival from the States, he has been largely avoiding us."
"I mean, what can we do, Inahan? We lost Manong Juan, he also lost Manong Juan. He probably thought he had failed us because he was not able to save him."
"I know that, anak. But how could he have known? How could he have known where Juan was before he got killed?"
"I know. But I miss the days when Manong Juan would drag Jo to our little hovel for dinners over here, especially during Christmas because we did not--and do not--want him to be alone during the festivities. Heaven knows that Manong Juan could not bear the very thought of Jo Gar alone in his own home. He might not always be the best conversationalist, but he would join Noli with singing Christmas carols."
"Ay, but it is all different now. Now his life is made more difficult with that--whoever succeeded poor Juanito."
"Indeed. That Sadi Ratan must have had no love growing up. He'd probably be Ebenezer Scrooge from that Dickens book I'd read back in the States."
"Ay, Magdalena, you really have a way with describing people."
"A doctor has to be observant, you know that, Inahan."
"Well, here are the rest of your siblings. At least your Amahan and Manong Goyong would stop tapping their feet now."
"It is a cane I am tapping, akong gugma," mother and daughter heard Isidro Alcantara protesting.
"Sidong..." Inahan shook her head, a fond smile in her lips.
Manong Goyo cackled as he pointed out, "Inahan is right, Amahan. She probably meant it figuratively."
"You are a mathematics teacher, Goyo," the old man deadpanned to his eldest son.
"Does not mean he cannot be descriptive, Amahan!" laughed Gertrudis.
"Ay naku, I do not know what to do with you," muttered Edilberto while pinching the bridge of his nose.
The seated members of the family stood up and, still bickering good-naturedly amongst themselves, took the calesas on their way to the Neo-Gothic San Sebastian Church.
"Um, are we done with the teasing? We probably should be hurrying up to the church," Noli said.

Independencia [Filipino Spokn Word Composition]
Independencia!
Gustuhin sana akong ihirang bilang iyong Crisostomo Ibarra
Andres Bonifacio man kung maturingan nga karamihan
Datapwat ganoon man, tulad ni Aguinaldo'y bigla kang lumisan

“Goyo,
I heard from Father that the Americans are invading in full force. I’m sure you will be assigned somewhere far from here.
I give you this necklace as a sign of my wholehearted trust in you. But do not assume that I’ve accepted your proposal.
You are hailed as the bravest, most patriotic, and most heroic of all heroes. In that I have no doubt.
But if you want me to love you, let me love a man I can embrace. Not a hero perched above the clouds.
I wish to lie in the arms of a man who knows his limits for he has fulfilled his duties to his country. A man who is aware of his mortality and thus aware of the important things in life.
I hope this man is you.
I will give my heart to the man inside the boy general.
I implore you to return after the war. Come back to me as a man I can love.
On that day, my heart will be ready for you.”
 “My dearest Remedios,
I now come back to you as an ideal upheld, as a man who chose the most important things in these dark times: honor, duty, sacrifice.
My death will never be in vain because I died honoring my country and most of all, you. I will never be a hero flying high above the clouds, far and unreachable, as long as you keep me close to your heart.
And there in your heart, I remain alive and deserving of your love.
Sincerely,
Gregorio.”

#1 Film Review: Goyo, Ang batang heneral
Tumblr media
“Goyo, Ang batang heneral” directed by Jerrold Tarog is a direct sequel to the hit Filipino film “Heneral Luna”. Both films succeeded in creating a compelling storyline depicting the Philippine history during the American regimen. The cinematography and the plot progression are also on point and is well thought out, given that both have the same director and studio (TBA studios).
To be honest, I was highly interested to watch Goyo since Heneral Luna was really a good film (in my opinion), and Goyo did not disappoint, the plot and how it was narrated was indeed good, I like how the first few scenes of the film did not just tied and connected the film to the previous film installation (Heneral Luna) but it also became the key plot point to introduce our new protagonist “Goyo”, this just shows that each and every detail in the film is highly thought out. There are other  several scenes that also showed brilliance in narration along the way but the way the film started promised a good journey ahead so I had to mention it.
Tumblr media
There are several good points to focus and mention in the film but I will focus on Goyo, Gregorio Del Pilar as a character since the whole film is basically dedicated to him (the film itself is titled after him) and also because his character is very relatable and interesting.
In comparison to Antonio Luna, Goyo is relatively young thus is less experienced when it comes to his own decisions and priorities. There are times he felt conflicted about the decisions he made and will make. Luna and Goyo are somewhat “polar opposites” of each other, Luna clearly knows what he wants and where he stands but Goyo despite having one of the highest ranks, (a general) he is still indeed  a young man on his early twenties, a boy general who is currently on his way in finding who he truly is and the real reason behind the cause he is fighting for.
Tumblr media
That particular scene above started Goyo’s internal struggles. All throughout the film, Goyo kept remembering Bernal’s words. This made him start to hallucinate and actually triggered his past traumas. Bernal clearly implies that Goyo does not have his own ground in all of these, he’s just a “dog”, a loyal dog of “Miyong”, (Emilio Aguinaldo).
All throughout the film, we see Goyo reflecting his own decisions and struggles.  His internal struggles and past traumatic experiences brought fear of his own death to the point he needed his brother’s words to remind him of who he was supposed to be and what was expected of him.
I actually felt that Goyo’s way of coping with his own monsters was through dating and playing around (dating and flirting with several women at that). I actually thought he’s not serious with Remedios but their exchanges proved me wrong. Remedios’ character and words actually knocked some sense to Goyo as seen in the film, when he read Remedios’ letter. Prior to that scene, their group was heavily struggling, trying to find a safe place to camp out. Goyo came up with a plan right after surveying the valleys surrounding them, this shows how he is clearly inspired by Remedio’s letter. Goyo was now determined to survive and set his priorities straight. At this point, I felt hope surging through my veins and was really excited with how things will proceed.
As anticipated, everything was doing good for Goyo’s side, they were able to strategically fight back the American troops but unfortunately, their strategy did not last long. I kind of knew in my gut that a Filipino will cause their downfall, and lo and behold, I was right. A local actually guided these American soldiers to outfight Goyo’s camp. (That person was probably forced and was scared to death... but still...)
Tumblr media
At this point, Goyo’s camp is losing and I was really prepared to see him die just like how the history books narrated Goyo’s unfortunate fate. I was prepared for a heroic death but what I got was something unexpected. One moment he was just peacefully contemplating his life and priorities through a series of flashbacks and the next thing I knew,  he’s shot right on the lower part of his face.
I was seriously thinking: “ Nah, that one shot won’t kill Goyo, he’s gonna stand up and fight back with all the strength he got and he’ll be really cool and heroic...” but this time I was wrong, he literally died right away... his death was somewhat uneventful for a protagonist but is very realistic when compared to the real world.
I was just expecting a really heroic death scene just like how Luna’s death scene was but guess they’re truly opposites...even in their death scenes.
I kind of understand why the writers did this kind of death for Goyo, they wanted to portray something realistic. They wanted to show how Goyo is just like one of us, how Goyo is just a human too despite being a General at a young age. I felt that the writers wanted us to learn and internalize like Goyo, he was not made to greatly awaken our passion for our country like how Luna was portrayed... Goyo was made for us to think and reflect on our own priorities, actions, and decisions as Filipinos and as individual human beings.
All in all, it was a really good film with a relatable hero! (but I still can’t move on from his anticlimactic death scene LOL ) Kudos to the production team and to Director Tarog for making this incredibly good film!
