Diamond Light [ That's the Tea ]
Preface: Diamond Light is a non-linear series of stories based around my OC Himari Furuya and her relationship with Tamaki Amajiki or Suneater.
TW: Chapters may contain Rated M [18+] content, such as graphic sexual content, canon typical violence and gore, body horror and explicit language.
Chapter Summary: Tamaki catches up with his friends and gains some unexpected insight.
Tumblr media
Tamaki was in burnout.
Over these past weeks, he had been so exhausted. Ever since his work study had begun, he wanted to do nothing but go home and sleep. If he wasn’t on patrols, training, or studying for his classes, he was a living vegetable. His tired, aching body didn’t want to do anything besides lay in bed and waste the hours away.
It hadn’t been an unpleasant time though, working in Fat Gum’s agency had been a highlight in many ways. Though his mentor could be a tad overwhelming for his taste, he couldn’t have asked for a better one. He especially didn’t mind the partnership he formed with the ghostly hero, Wraith - who had despite her eccentric nature, provided valuable support during their missions.
Still, he could use a break.
On one of his free days, he agreed to go out with his friends. Nejire opted that the three of them should go to her favorite tea shop, saying that they have some of the best and most flavorful blends. He couldn’t deny that it sounded refreshing, especially after such a demanding week.
Lately, their schedules hadn’t been matching up, which had made hanging out difficult. Even at school, it seemed like they were always on the go. For Tamaki, it had been a little lonely, but he was happy to know that his friends felt the same. When the opportunity rose for them to get together, they immediately took advantage of it, like an oasis in the middle of a desert.
Once seated at the booth with their drinks, they began to play catch up.
He listened quietly as his friends chatted animatedly about their progress in their work study. Despite the hard work they endured, they both sounded happy with their respective agencies. Mirio spoke proudly of his mentor that he called “Sir,” with high enthusiasm, while Nejire couldn’t keep herself from gushing about the dragon hero Ryukyu. It made him smile fondly, knowing that they were having such a good time.
“How about you, Tamaki? How’s your work study going?” Mirio asked suddenly, nudging him with his elbow, causing the chimera hero to gulp on his drink loudly,
“It’s been okay…I guess…” He wanted to stop there, but he could feel his friends’ prying eyes on him, expecting further exposition.
Letting out a reluctant sigh, he continued. “Fat Gum is great and has been really helpful over these past few weeks. He’s always giving advice and loads of encouragement...perhaps a little too much praise from my perspective, but I─ really shouldn’t be complaining. We’ve been learning quite a bit.”
“We?” Mirio questioned.
A wave of warmth rose to his cheeks. “Uh…yeah, th-there’s a-a really nice girl there too she’s uh…um…o-oh no…” He face-planted into the wall beside him miserably. “…I’m such an idiot that I-I never got her real name.”
Mirio and Nejire exchanged sly looks.
"Is she cute?" they blurted in unison, catching the young Amajiki offguard.
“Don’t ask me that…” He grumbled. “All I know is that her hero name is Wraith…”
“Oh, you mean Himari Furuya?”
Tamaki’s head lifted. “Wait… You know her?”
“Yep! She was at the Sports Festival, don’t you remember?” Nejire asked
“E-eh - I g-guess I should, but I - well - I was kind of busy having a panic attack,” he mumbled.
“Oh yeah…” Nejire hummed softly with a tilt of the head, her laissez faire tone and relaxed expression easing the discomfort of admitting such a thing.
“Isn’t she also the daughter of Monochrome?” Mirio inquired.
“Monochrome…?” Tamaki was vaguely familiar with that name from some tabloids. If he recalled correctly, Monochrome was one of the more elusive heroes that stayed out of the public eye for the most part. Very few have ever met him in person.
Nejire bobbed her head. “Yeah, crazy right? They look nothing alike too, like night and day.”
“There’s a lot of rumors about that guy too...like really morbid ones.” Mirio remarked, scratching his chin. “I don’t know how true they are, but even some heroes are leery of him.”
“Why’s that?” Tamaki asked.
Mirio’s brows drew together, trying to find the right words to explain. “His quirk…he can absorb negative energies and use that to manipulate the things around him.”
Tamaki leaned in, growing more curious. “That’s quite the ability.”
“But how is that a bad thing? If he’s removing negativity, isn’t that beneficial? Wouldn’t that make any bad occurrence into a good one?” Nejire wondered aloud with her teacup held between her hands methodically.
“It does sound like a positive thing, doesn’t it? But, sadly, it isn’t that simple.” Mirio’s smile weakened as he went on. “Unfortunately, he can only store so much of that energy, so if he isn’t using it consistently, there can be some severe consequences if it leaks out. To put it simply, he isn’t exactly a lucky charm.”
Tamaki frowned deeply. “That’s pretty awful… I don’t even want to imagine the burden that could bring…”
Mirio hummed in accordance. “As long as he keeps it in check, there isn’t much to worry about, but that liability is always there.”
“I guess that makes sense, there’s pros and const to every quirk.” Nejire said, lowering her cup from her lips. “One way or another, we all have to figure out how to use the cards we are delt.”
"Oh!" Mirio suddenly blurted. "He can levitate, too."
"O-oh," Tamaki uttered in response. He glanced away for a moment, before a thought came to mind. He turned back to the blonde, uttering, "how do you know all this?"
"I heard about it at Nighteye's agency," Mirio replied brightly.
"I see," Tamaki replied softly, looking down at his tea again. It seemed that Nejire had refilled it while he wasn't looking.
"Does..." Tamaki began, trailing off as he mentally debated if he wanted to utter such a thought aloud. Furuya was a peer, someone he admired in her heroism, but who he barely knew. Yet, he couldn't help but wonder-
"...that mean he's often away, o-on missions?" Tamaki finished softly, glancing between his friends.
Nejire hummed thoughtfully. "I suppose so..."
Mirio added on more firmly, "I've heard he works a lot."
Tamaki looked back down, his lips pulled tight. So, then, did that mean Furuya was alone a lot...?
As if reading his mind, Mirio raised his cup and continued. “But, there’s a lot of unknowns, so we should be careful not to jump to conclusions.” There was a liveliness beaming in his blue irises, he looked at Tamaki, saying pointedly. “It’s better to get the information straight for the source.”
The color in the hero’s face drained. “L-Like – ask her d-directly? I-I don’t think I have the courage to do that…”
“I think he’s implying that it would be good to befriend her,” Nejire suggested kindly. Her expression lit up with a jovial smile. “Seems like it could be fun.”
Mirio nodded, following her statement with, “she’s in the other class, so it might not be as easy to meet up, but I’m sure we could work around it. What do you think, Tamaki?”
“I-I don’t know, I do like working with her…but – but I don’t want to m-make her feel uncomfortable - or think w-we only doing it out of p-pity.” While he appreciated their eagerness, he didn’t want to take Mirio’s warning lightly.
“Hm, that’s true too…” Nejire mused aloud, she leaned back into the cushion of the booth, twirling a periwinkle curl around her finger. “But, it doesn’t have to be forced either.”
“Exactly, it can happen organically – I mean, you want to be closer to her, right?” Mirio drawled.
The suggestiveness in his tone sent a blistering heat to Tamaki’s face. “E-Eh …? W-Well…y-yes, but w-why do y-you have to make it weird, Mirio!”
The blond chuckled, “sorry, but you left yourself open, dude.”
“Anyway…,” Nejire began, bringing them back on topic, “I’ve been wanting to get to know more people from class B, so this will be a great way to do that!”
“For sure, they are our future comrades after all,” Mirio agreed. “So, don’t think too hard about it, buddy.”
Tamaki’s shoulders slumped, pressing his lips together into a wobbly line. “Urk…w-when you point it out like that, i-it only makes it harder not to… - b-but, I’ll try.”
The trio polished off a few more pots of tea before going their separate ways. On his jaunt home, Tamaki could feel the brew sloshing in his belly, but he had to admit, he came out of their meeting feeling rejuvenated. If he hadn’t known better, he could have sworn his friends had a superpower for restoring energy on top of their established quirks.
Although he was still pretty worn out, he was more prepared to face the new week ahead.
In the back of his mind, he was still thinking about their discussion about the ghostly hero, Wraith. He wondered about the rumors that circulated around her family. Mirio hadn’t gone into detail about them, which left plenty of room for mystery, but maybe that was for the best.
For now, he was fine with not knowing – he was in no rush and there was no need to tarnish a clean slate.

Diamond Light [ Open Book ]
Preface: Diamond Light is a non-linear series of stories based around my OC Himari Furuya and her relationship with Tamaki Amajiki or Suneater.
TW: Chapters may contain Rated M [18+] content, such as graphic sexual content, canon typical violence and gore, body horror and explicit language.
Chapter Summary: Midterm exams are just around the corner and Himari knows she needs all the help she can get.
Tumblr media
If Himari was asked what part of her heroic education she disliked the most, it would have to be the academic side. On top of their rigorous training, the students of U.A. were also expected to keep up with their regular studies. To get anywhere in this world, students not only needed to be exceptional in skill, but in intelligence as well. It was essential, a prestigious institution couldn’t afford to accept mediocrity.
Like winter’s frosty breath, the young hero could feel the chill of midterm exams creeping in. Every student with a lick of common sense would be cramming their brains out to earn the best results. She could only pray to the Gods that she could muster some passing marks.
As luck would have it, she found her chance
Instead of going home that day, she was in the library, sitting beside her work study partner, Tamaki Amajiki. Earlier that day, she found the dark-haired boy at the far table leaned over his study materials with a severe look on his face. It had been impeccable timing considering she had gone there for a peaceful place to work. Seeing an opportunity to get some help, she decided to reach out. As usual, she managed to give him a near heart attack when she seemed to appear before him out of thin air, asking if they could study together.
Tumblr media
Much to her surprise, he agreed to it.
Ever since the two started working together at Fat Gum’s agency, they had been seeing a lot more of each other. Part of it was because Togata and Hado began making it a daily ritual to hang out before class, which sometimes led her to get scolded by the teacher for being late. Some of her classmates even joked that she wasn’t really their classmate, but a spy sent by the other class to ruin them.
The rest had been coincidental.
“S-So, what part are you having trouble with Furuya?” He asked suddenly disrupting her train of thought.
“Hm?”
He was looking away from her, fumbling with his mechanical pencil. “I…just thought that if we shared what parts we are struggling with, we could help each other out better.”
There was a grave look on her face as her gaze shifted from her study guide to the disastrous notes she scribbled during class.
“Everything…”
“I-Is that so?” He sounded concerned, falling quiet as he turned his gaze back to his own work. Himari’s attention drifted as well, suddenly feeling a little awkward. It almost caught her off guard when he spoke up again.
“Could you…maybe, show me your notes?”
“Uhm…” Himari thought for a moment, then closed her notebook. “…I don’t want to.”
He surprised her again with a flat look. “Furuya…”
“Okay, okay, but don’t laugh, English is literally my worst subject.” She held out her notebook as if she were handing out her diary.
After Tamaki took the notebook from her, he flipped it open to see what he was working with. She sat there, stiff as a board, watching him slowly sink back in his chair. His brows lifted as if mystified by what he just laid his eyes upon.
“Oh my god…” He covered his mouth with his hand, stifling a snort. “You confused ‘persecute’ with ‘prostitute’…”
She blinked. “What’s the difference?”
Her question sent him floundering, like a fish out of water. “W-Well, a, ugh, w-well, ehhhh.”
When he couldn’t get the words out, she offered him a sheepish grin. “Sorry, I’ve never been really good at this kind of thing… Even when I took the entrance exam, I barely passed the written portion. Guess I just prefer hands-on work.” She then added quickly. “─Don’t think I’ll use that as an excuse though! Even if it doesn’t seem like it, I am very serious about my studies.”
Something about her humor seemed to help calm him down to the point that he chuckled warmly at her words. “I-It’s okay, I understand that this stuff can be pretty dense…and well…b-boring.”
Himari hummed in agreement, resting her elbows on the table with her chin in the cradle of her palms. “Whenever I listen to an English lecture, I feel like my brain melts inside my skull and bleeds out of my ears.”
Tumblr media
Amajiki raised a hand, halting her from further exposition. “I get it, you don’t need to include graphic imagery, dummy.”
“It’s more immersive that way though,” she said.
“Next time, ask for consent first.” His comeback got her giggling, usually when she made remarks like that, she often received weird looks or awkward laughter.
She let out a soft sigh. “I know this is a little too much, but it would really mean a lot to me if I had your help.”
He set down her notebook, scratching his cheek. “To be honest, I-I’m surprised that you would want to study with me.” She noticed he began to fidget as he went on to elaborate. “I-I mean I’m really…really bad at t-talking in general and well, explaining things…that’s all a lot of pressure… I-If I screw s-something up, I-I don’t want that to n-negatively affect you. God…I would feel so bad if that happened…I─”
Tumblr media
Before he could ramble any further, Himari pushed a finger up to his lips, silencing him. His eyes widened and his cheeks reddened in response to her touch. He sank back into his chair to get away, staring up at her with a bewildered, almost frightened expression.
She stood up from her seat with her ruby gaze leveled with his indigo ones. If she was being honest with herself, she found his expression to be quite adorable.
“Listen Amajiki, you might think I have the wrong impression of you, but I truly believe you are a reliable person.” She spoke in a subdued tone that didn’t waver. “─Honestly, I really hate asking for help, period, but you’re someone I feel comfortable enough to be around; so, it’s not like I’m asking out of convenience.”
As she went on, Amajiki's terrified expression slowly morphed into wonder. He almost couldn't believe that she could speak such kind things so openly; not only that, but these were things she felt about him.
“Uh-Uhm…” He tore away from her gaze with a hand over his eyes. His voice came out shaky, practically rattling out of his throat. “Okay, Okay… Just….”
Hardly a second later, Amajiki had his back turned to her, folded over, and mumbling to himself. Seeing him trembling made Himari sit down, wondering if her approach had been too aggressive. Still, it’s not like she regretted saying it.
As if on instinct, she reached over and gently laid her palm on the center of his back. Not surprised when his entire body went frozen upon contact. Beneath her hand, she felt every tense muscle stiffen. He didn’t retract from her touch though, even as she spread her fingers over his vertebra.
It perked her intrigue when his shoulders started to slack. There was still a fair amount of rigidity in his posture, but not as much as there had been before. He eventually gathered enough of his composure speak. Though, his voice was so quiet she almost couldn’t make out what he said.
“…Thank you.”
Once she pulled her hand away, Amajiki started to shift around his seat, feeling brave enough to face her again. Sitting more properly, he cleared his throat. “I-I’m not sure how much better your scores will be with my help, b-but I-I’ll show you what I know.”
The girl looked up at him beaming. “If I can do just a little better than what I have been, then that’s more than I can ever ask for. Besides, I can't afford to let you down.”
“I see…” The smile that had moved onto his lips made her chest feel lighter, like the flutter of a soft breeze carrying her off to the warmth of summer. It filled her with an aching curiosity, but anything she might have wanted to say had escaped her. She didn’t mind it though, finding serenity in just being in his proximity.
However, the moment was cut short when a familiar teasing voice derailed them. “And what are you troublemakers doing?”
Tumblr media
“M-Mirio!”
He had his face phased through a book on the display shelf behind them. There was a playful glint in his eyes, sounding a little too innocent. “Oh sorry, did I interrupt something? Tamaki, you’re looking pretty red in the ears.”
Amajiki’s hands shot up to cover them. “Sh-Shut up!”
“Sorry, sorry, I just saw you guys here, so I figured I would drop by to say hi,” he said. “You’re studying, right?”
“Sorta, though, I think I’m adding more work onto Amajiki’s plate.” Himari replied, ruffling the back of her hair.
“I-It isn’t a big deal at least, it shouldn’t be…” Amajiki’s eyes dropped to her notebook, suddenly recalling the catastrophe he saw. Under his breath, he mumbled. “I hope…”
“Are you busy, Togata? You could study with us too if you want,” she offered.
“Sure, as long as you guys don’t mind.”
"Togata, are you still spying on them?" Hado's inquired from faraway, sounding like she was ready to scold him.
"Uhm...no...?"
After a bit of of bantering, the group invited Hado to join them as well. With the squad united, they hit the books. Time seemed to fly as they dug into the material, reviewing information, sharing insight, and talking through numerous subjects. For Himari, it was like a breath of fresh air compared to studying on her own.
Admittedly, she found it astonishing how natural it felt to be part of their group. Despite her being in the rival class, they had always treated her as one of their own and never as an outsider. She never felt the need to question why either; their genuine nature seemed to shine through any possible doubt that could ever dare try to cloud her mind.
Her attention wandered back to Amajiki, who was occupied with reviewing his exam materials. Since the group had formed, he had been quiet for the most part, offering some dialogue here and there, but otherwise distracted. It wasn’t a painful silence though, but one that was in peace, relishing in a moment.
She thought he might turn away when he seemed to feel her gaze on him, but no. Instead, he offered her his undivided attention. “I-Is there something you need help with?” He asked with a sweet smile adorning his features.
Right then, she was reminded why she was there to begin with.
“Uhm…” She picked up her notebook, showing him the section she had been plugging away at. “Could you look over these for me?”
“Of course.”
Perhaps, it was selfish of her, but she wanted to cling to this group for as long as they would allow. Like a moth to a flame, she was drawn to their warmth.

The first week was always the most stressful she had heard others say when they began their work programs. Himari had to admit there was a shred of truth in that as there was a part of her that was nervous when she joined Fat Gum’s agency. Perhaps, it was because she didn’t feel qualified enough to handle patrols like this and stood out like a sore thumb.
Yet, that night, she put on her gear with no intention of backing out. Despite his initial uncertainty, Fat Gum had thrown her a bone curious to see what she was capable of and she was not about to take that act of kindness for granted. She earned her provisional license for a reason after all.
Now she was perched on top of the sky railing getting an aerial view of the city. A cool breeze pushed at her as she leapt, her cape lifted allowing her to temporarily glide with the wind’s current, till she teleported to the condominium across the highway.
Her feet landed smoothly against the cement barely skidding against the surface. One thing that she liked about her quirk was that it allowed her to be light on her feet, soundless to the average listener.
A bit of static entered her ears from her wireless headset. “How’s it looking up there, Wraith?” She heard Fat inquire on the other line.
“Not much to report aside from a few jaywalkers.” She answered, peering down below. Her team was on the ground carrying out their patrol on the streets. It was only her, Fat Gum, and Suneater – a dark-haired boy she had come to recognize passing through the halls of UA. He had a countenance that screamed to intimidate, but once she was in close quarters with him, it was easy to say that looks were deceiving.
Not much different than herself.
“Sounds good, keep me posted if you see anything ─ OH and don’t go too far ahead!” He added at the end. “Can barely see you up there as it is.”
She laughed softly. “No worries, I’ll stay close.”
At that, she sprang forward, making her way to the next rooftop. As she soared through the air, she quietly admired the city lights under her while maintaining a watchful eye; even through the dark shield of her visor, their brightness was still extraordinary.
Feeling the tug of gravity begin to pull her down, she prepared to teleport again when something cut through the air. She swung her body around sharply, warping to the closest platform. She settled on the ledge of an apartment balcony and quickly moved behind the nearest pillar where the slugs made impact with concrete while more came whizzing by.
Quickly, she spoke into her headset. “Fat, there’s gunshots coming from the parking garage. I just had a couple stray bullets fly by me.” She peeked out, looking across the road. “─I think it’s coming from the sixth floor. I’m going to check it out.”
It didn’t take long before her mentor spoke up. “Tch, should have known the quiet wouldn’t last long. I’m sending Suneater your way right now ─I’ll be following close behind.”
“Be careful, they’re using a silencer.”
“Roger that.”
Silent as a mouse, she backtracked to the condominium over to the top of the attached parking garage.
As she was about to teleport to the next floor, an explosive thunder shook the ground beneath Himari, making her almost lose her footing. When the floor began to cave beneath her, she immediately took off. Clouds of smoke began rolling into the air as she descended to the lower level.
So much for the silencer…
The second she arrived on the scene, another bomb had been detonated. The shocks sent her skating back across the pavement in the direction she came. Smoke clouded her view, making it difficult to determine the situation, but if she had to guess, it was a turf war.
Based on the increasing debris, Himari decided that the best course of action would be to distract them to prevent further damage. She had to contemplate a way to intervene without throwing herself into a sea of bullets or worse, an explosion.
As the smoke began to lift, she saw her opportunity when a man of a hulking stature picked up a compact car. His bulging muscles flexed as he clenched down on the metal, making the material cave in like an aluminum can. He twisted his torso, yelling as he prepared to fling the vehicle at the rival group.
As he released it into the air, his grisly expression slowly morphed into one of confusion when the vehicle suddenly vanished. A loud crash caught his attention, whirling around to see the car now skidding to the other side of the room. His comrades seemed just as puzzled as he was by the strange phenomenon.
When she made her advance, the muscular man’s brows knitted together in annoyance. “Great, fucking heroes showed up.”
Predicting that more heroes would arrive, the two groups began to scatter. Before they could all escape, Himari teleported after them, blocking their exit to the stairwell with one of the cars that had been thrown in the explosion. The muscular man turned to her gritting his teeth in agitation.
“Got some telekinesis quirk or somethin’ kid?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
He scoffed.
“Kids like you should really mind your own damn business!” Following that statement, he raised one of his enormous arms and made a swing at her. The young hero dodged his fist, teleporting above his eye level and gave him a swift side kick to the jaw.
His comrades tried to gang up on her, attempting to seize her from the air. One of them projected his arms with his long fingers wrapping around her waist like grappling hooks. There was a twisted smile on his pointed face as he clamped down on her abdomen.
She managed to vanish before he could yank her down only to appear behind the muscular man. When he was about to turn, she grabbed ahold of the back of his shirt and teleported them both into the air. As they stood suspended in midair, she landed another solid kick to his lower back.
The impact made him drop to the ground like a ton of bricks, barreling across the floor into his accomplices. They slammed into a nearby wall, groaning in pain. The muscular man gritted his teeth as he struggled to his feet, looking straight at her with fire in his eyes.
“Some hero you are! Did they teach you to attack first before asking questions?”
“In case you forgot, you attacked me first buddy.”
“Man, I really don’t wanna kill a little girl, but if you keep getting in our way…” The man with bladed arms cracked his knuckles making the jagged knives extend further with more protruding from his back, making him look like a puffer fish.
“Aim for the helmet.” The muscular one barked. “I saw something flash when she jumped me.”
“Gotcha.”
Without further warning, he rolled his neck and shoulders making his bones snap, sending waves of razorblades at her. The razors were coming at all directions small, thin, and difficult for her to see. It made it near impossible for her to evade them all. She could feel them nick and tear at her flesh even when she teleported to take cover.
“Don’t think you’ll get away this time girly!” The bladed assailant shouted. “There’s plenty more where that came from!”
As more razors rained down, she decided to change her strategy and concentrate on the oncoming attack. Don’t flinch, don’t flinch… Sweat beaded on her forehead trying to maintain her focus without recoiling. To her luck, they disappeared from above.
With the blades under her control, she directed them to the wall where they wedged into the cement.
“Ah shit!” One of the men yelled.
When Himari rose from behind the vehicle, she saw Suneater had made his entrance. He had three men captured in his tentacle grasp, including the man with the bladed arms. He was struggling against his hold, eyes practically bulging from his head. His quirk must have been drained unable to cut free from the restraints.
“Bastard!” The muscular man roared puffing out his chest. His veins were twitching through his skin as he wrenched his massive body around trying to break free.
“You got some fighting spirit I’ll give you that.” Suneater replied lowly. “Too bad you don’t put that strength to better use.”
Before she joined him, she surveyed the area, making sure there weren’t more gang members in hiding. From what she could tell, it appeared that they were the only ones that hadn’t managed to escape. She hoped Fat made it in time to catch the others before they completely bailed the scene.
“Are you alright Wraith?” Suneater called out.
“Yeah, just a few scratches.” She teleported up to him. “─I appreciate the help.”
The dark-haired boy grimaced, mumbling under his breath. “I…didn’t really do much though.”
“What are you—” Himari didn’t have time to refute his claim as the weaselly man had somehow slithered an arm from beneath Suneater’s grasp. His fingers elongated camming at them like a group of whips.
Suneater blocked the assault with his clamed fist, still maintaining control over the group with his tentacles. They thrashed against him wildly desperate to turn the situation around.
“Give up! You’re not going to get away!” Suneater snapped.
“I’m not getting locked up again!” The weaselly man screeched back.
In that time Himari had teleported back into the air. When Suneater went in for a punch to subdue the men, she noticed the weaselly man had something in his other hand. Over the noise, she almost didn’t hear the distinctive click.
The device slipped from his hand as he fell unconscious.
There was no time to delay, Himari swooped down her eyes focused in on the group as the area went ablaze. Tears built up in her eyes as her quirk was reaching its limits. She was thankful when the room disappeared before her.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t bless them with a gentle landing. They tumbled gracelessly onto the roof of the nearby apartment building with a painful thud.
Slowly, the two heroes gathered their bearings with minimal groans. When Himari got to her feet, she looked across the street and winced at the sight of the caved in parking garage.
“So much for damage control…”
“As long as no one else got hurt, it should be okay.” Suneater assured, rubbing the back of his neck. “The cops have arrived so ─Ah, your helmet, it’s um…”
She hadn’t noticed during the fight, but large cracks formed on her visor with chunks of plastic missing from the bottom. Himari sighed as she pulled the headgear off certain there were bits of metal lodged in it as well. As she did, the boy uttered a startled noise.
It didn’t take her long to realize why.
“Oh, I guess you don’t know, but when I use my quirk, the blood vessels in my eyes burst and they glow, like this.” She turned to him with a wry smile. “It’s not very cute, huh?”
“W-What? No! Th-that’s not─ It just seems like it would hurt ─or something I’m not trying to offend you or─” His voice cut out as he struggled to find the right words. He lowered his head, averting his gaze.
She chuckled lightly. “It’s fine, I get what you’re trying to say.”

Suneater was quiet for a moment, before deciding to change the subject. “Um…we should bring those guys down to the police before they wake up.” He turned away to the gangsters lying on the ground still bound up.
“Right.”
With her quirk still activated, Himari tried to use her energy to transport the group onto the ground. Fixing her gaze on them, she was suddenly overcome with lightheadedness. She was forced to disrupt her focus to close her eyes, feeling exhaustion settle in.
Noticing this, Suneater put a hand on her shoulder stabilizing her. “Leave this to me.” He offered quietly. She heard him take something out of his pouches and eat it. Before she knew it, she was being swept off her feet. “Hang on tight.”
Opening her eyes, she nearly dropped her helmet when she felt a gust of air hit her face. Peering up at him, she saw he manifested a pair of massive white wings. Though she could have probably teleported herself with no issues, she decided to cling to him. When he took off, her stomach did a flip as they were pulled into the wind’s current. He glided down the city streets smoothly, easing up when they neared the pavement.
Once on the ground, he gently lowered her onto the road’s surface. Her gaze followed his to the cluster of law enforcement vehicles surrounding the vicinity. The two heroes brought the criminals over to a group of policemen where they were immediately apprehended. As they spoke with the police, Himari noticed that they had even obtained the ones that had managed to slip away. It made her wonder what happened to Fat after the whole escapade.
Her question was soon answered when she spotted a yellow figure walking in the distance. When he spotted them, relief set in his large eyes.
“Suneater! Wraith!” Fat Gum called, making his way through the crowd over to the two. When he finally reached them, he scooped the heroes up and pulled them into a tight bear hug. “Thank goodness! When I saw the building collapse, I was so afraid that you guys were still in there!”
Seeing their comrade safe and sound brought a grin to Himari’s face. “Nice to see you too big guy.”
Suneater ducked his head down. “P-People are staring…”
