#I have no idea how or in what context I'd write Terry but I'd be down

what stuff can't you forgive batman beyond for? :o
Ugh OK. Disclaimer that none of these things make Batman Beyond bad. None of this is bad writing. I just don't like it. It's fine, actually, I just hate it.
I know Batman Beyond had to justify its existence somehow and answer the question "why is the ONLY PERSON who could become Batman a random teenager off the street?". There had to be some sort of reason why Bruce was completely isolated from Dick, Tim, and Barbara, and why Dick or Tim wasn't Batman.
The ways in which it got rid of them though!! Dick's like 60 and he hates Bruce and never speaks to him! Barbara's a cop, which she would never do, who had a thing with Bruce. Superman's infected by Starro so all of his friends at the League are out. And freaking Return of the Joker, oh my god. Putting aside the fucking sadness of Tim also never speaking to his dad and living an entire life pretending Batman and Robin never happened. COME ON. I really didn't like the "Terry is Bruce's secret kid" thing either, but that's less of a moral and more of a personal stance.
Sometimes a work is the most influential work in your writing completely against your will and without your permission. Return of the Joker traumatized me as a kid, and for some reason although I hate it SO FUCKING MUCH, it's permeated a lot of what I write with Tim. His death in the Reverse Robins thing was directly what happened in ROTJ, except he killed himself instead of the Joker. And I never even get into much detail on Tim's death there because it makes me sad.
Batman Beyond, you did not stop to consider those of you who were watching every DCAU cartoon sequentially, and who had come fresh off watching the most adorable small child run around doing Robin things in the final season of BTAS. You did not stop to wonder if he was a baby only a week before in my own mind. And now this.
DCAU!Batman had always been a lighthearted, kind person who had a robust support network. He had shipteasing. With Wonder Woman. It was really sad to see every good thing in his life stripped away and turn him withered, bitter, and old. Showing Batman in that light isn't bad in and of itself, but I was attached to this guy :c. Why hadn't they just set up another continuity where these characters didn't exist so they didn't have to worry about depressingly shoving them aside?
Oh, and. Just kidding. I can forgive them for all of this. I hate it, but it's fine. What I actually cannot forgive them for is for fucking Bruce and Barbara having an affair. Oh my god. Oh my god. Bad. So bad.

For the last few days, I’ve been getting really into How To Dance In Ohio and, my goodness, I adore the cast EP and have watched and re-watched every YouTube video about it I can! But, from what I could find, there isn’t a Wiki page or anything like that with information about the characters! If you can, I would love to know some fun facts (maybe pronouns, likes, dislikes, whatever else!) about the seven lovely autistic people we follow in the show!
I’m hoping to see it sometime next year! 💛
Hey there!
The Wikipedia page does exist, although it's still pretty sparse as the show is still in previews and there are rules about what the updates are allowed to be. Everything has to be substantiated by a published article on an established platform or a first-person interview.
Here's the character breakdown from the Equity Principal Audition, with some of my own notes added for context. I've included some of the nicknames we've come up with for the characters also, some of which are canon.
Johanna: 40s-50s, she/her, powerful mezzo-soprano. Caroline’s mother, perky and positive, keeps a watchful eye over her daughter, artsy mom vibes. (Note: it's pronounced "yo-HAH-na.") Also known as: Jo-Jo (pronounced "yo-yo;" not canon) Currently: played by Darlesia Cearcy, and understudied by Marina Pires. (Note also: Darlesia's name is pronounced Dar-LEE-see-ah.) Fun fact: Darlesia isn't much of a public social media user, but when I looked her up on Twitter, this is the first thing that popped up, from her time in Shuffle Along. If I were her, I wouldn't even bother with a headshot and resume anymore, I'd just hand casting directors a copy of that tweet. It pretty much says it all.
Terry: 40s-50s, she/her, powerful mezzo-soprano. Jessica’s mother, patient, loves leopard print, gives her daughter lots of space, cool mom vibes. Also known as: Ter-Bear. (not canon) Currently: played by Haven Burton, and understudied by Marina Pires. Fun fact: Haven plays my mom but she's only seven years older than me in real life. Marina P is four years younger than me. Best of all: when we were premiering in Syracuse, this role was also covered by an SU junior (Elana Babbit). She didn't get to go on, but if she had, I would've had a mother who was almost half my age!
Michael: 40s-50s, he/him, mid to high tenor. Marideth’s father, blue-collar, doing his best, is anxious in new social settings. Also plays: "Derrick," a pharmacy technician employee at Columbus Community College, who has a brief interaction with Caroline (and may or may not be a murderer). Currently: played by Nick Gaswirth, and understudied by Martín Solá.
Amy: 40s-50s, she/her, soprano. Drew’s mother, cultured, a housewife with a master’s degree, adept at managing her husband and son’s needs. Also plays: Shauna Parks, a super hawtt reporter from the Columbus Gazette. Currently: played by Melina Kalomas and understudied by Marina Pires.
Kurt: 40s-50s, he/him, mid to high baritone. Drew’s father, white-collar, conservative, a bit formal, has high expectations for Drew. Also plays: Hawkins, Mel's manager at Paws and Claws Pet Shop, who's kind of a douchebag, and Rick Jenkins, a blogger (not a reporter) who has no idea how to write about disability with any shred of respect. Currently: played by Carlos L. Encinias--who calls his collection of roles "The Villain Track" though I assure you is an exquisitely kind and funny anti-villain in real life--and understudied by Martín Solá.
Dr. Emilio Amigo: to play 50s, he/him, high baritone, Cuban-American. A clinical psychologist, founder and director of Amigo Family Counseling, great at his job, charismatic, full of empathy, recently divorced, at a crossroads. Currently: played by Caesar Samayoa, and understudied by Martín Solá and Carlos L. Encinias.
Ashley Amigo: to play 22, she/her, mezzo-soprano with a strong mix, of Cuban-American. Amigo’s daughter, a dancer recovering from an injury, is at a crossroads. Currently: played by Cristina Sastre, and understudied by Marina Pires and Marina Jansen.
Drew: 18, he/him, mid to high tenor, autistic. He needs structure, a bit formal, knows a lot about electricity and electrical grids, is looking for deeper connections in life, possibly romantic, on track to go to his dream college. Also known as: Drewby (by his mom; canon) Currently: played by Liam Pearce and understudied by Collin Hancock, Jean Christian Barry, and Hunter Hollingsworth.
Marideth: 18, she/her, alto with a strong mix, autistic. Raised by a single dad, loves to research facts, hates shoelaces, doesn’t like to be touched, is anxious in new social settings. Also known as: Wolf (not canon) Currently: played by Madison Kopec, and understudied by Marina Jansen and Ayanna Nicole Thomas. Fun fact: Marideth isn't the first canonically autistic character originated by Madison Kopec. I first heard of them back in 2019 when they were cast as Emma in a reading of a new musical called Indigo, which eventually had its world premiere last summer in (funnily enough) Ohio.
Caroline: 19, she/her, soprano with a strong mix, autistic. Perky and positive, goes to community college, is best friends with Jessica but is obsessed with her boyfriend. Also known as: Menace (not canon) Currently: played by Amelia Fei, and understudied by Ayanna Nicole Thomas and Marina Jansen.
Jessica: 20, she/her, full-voiced mezzo-soprano, autistic. Wants to live on her own, loves fantasy but is surprisingly practical, has a flair for drama. Also known as: Rachel Berry (obviously not canon as that's copyright infringement) Currently: played by Ashley Wool (yours truly) and understudied by Ayanna Nicole Thomas and Marina Jansen. Fun fact: Lol. 20. That's adorable. I'm absolutely not 20.
Mel: 24, she/he/they, earthy alto, autistic. The oldest member of the group, a seeker into self-help and mindfulness, a natural leader, works at a pet shop. Also known as: Head of Reptiles (technically canon, but we also just like to imagine Mel as a mythical creature with a reptilian head) Currently: played by Imani Russell and understudied by Marina Jansen and Ayanna Nicole Thomas. Fun fact: way back in 2021, when they were casting the first reading of the show, my agent at the time submitted me for Mel--the character was initially conceived as a cis woman on the breakdown--but I had already gotten a callback for Jessica from my self-submission, and I had a gut feeling that there was somebody better out there for Mel. I couldn't have been more right--after Imani was cast, it was largely thanks to their creativity, insight and influence that Mel evolved into the distinctive non-binary icon (non-bicon?) we know and love today.
Remy: 18+ to play 16, he/she/they, mid to high tenor, autistic. Into cosplay, makes a How-To costume and makeup tutorial videos online. Currently: played by Desmond Luis Edwards, and understudied by Jean Christian Barry, Ayanna Nicole Thomas, and Hunter Hollingsworth. Fun fact: Dez's involvement in HTDIO is the ultimate "Cinderella story." In 2021, Jacob Yandura was running a summer camp in Florida, and Dez was a student there; upon finding out Dez was autistic, Jacob said, "hey, I think you'd be a good fit for this musical I'm writing." The first time I heard Dez sing at the rehearsals for the reading, I was like, "you're SEVENTEEN?! I quit." How many actors out there go from their third high school musical DIRECTLY to Broadway? Another fun fact: Dez created all the cosplay designs we used onstage in the Syracuse production. Check out his art account here!
Tommy: 22, he/him, mid to high baritone, autistic. Funny, self-conscious, studying to get his driver’s license. Currently: played by Conor Tague, and understudied by Hunter Hollingsworth, Collin Hancock, and Jean Christian Barry. Fun fact: In real life, Conor does not drive and is staunchly anti-driving.
Ok, I gotta shower and head to the theater for work notes, but I'll happily add more later!

Author Ask Tag Game
My thanks to @doublegoblin for tagging me here!
This is going to mostly be in the context of The Tectomancy Saga -
(1) What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
I don't know if I can say there's a singular main lesson or message that the story is meant to provide. Different characters will learn different things. I want Releine to realise that she has inherent value and isn't only defined by what she can do for other people; I want Almyra to learn that even smaller goals are victories; I want Jessa to learn that you don't have to be who other people expect you to be; I want Tenacity to learn that your goals, however noble, can't come before the people you care about. And I just want Ellimane to get her shit together quite frankly. I don't know that I chose them so much as that that's where those character arcs seem to want to go. I guess they're things I've had to learn to some extent in life.
(2) What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
I honestly find that very hard to pin down! I guess I owe a lot to certain authors in terms of the kind of things I find fun to think about and write ideas from. I guess they would be: Terry Pratchett, Paul Stewart & Chris Riddell, Garth Nix, and Tamsyn Muir. Worlds full of weird creatures, worlds that are weird shapes, worlds that have an edge you can fall off, worlds that are full of cryptic magic. I think I have at least that group of people to thank for getting my brain going. And of course, I have to pay mention to fairy tales and their long history of putting Princesses in towers and guarding them with dragons - that was the whole thing that made me think "and what if the Princess loves the dragon?" in the first place.
(3) What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
Mostly I think I just want others to love them as much as I do. That's a lot of the fun of reading to me, at least - get attached to someone funky and fucked-up and see where they go. Adore them for their wits and weird quirks, and the things they turn to in themselves when the situation is dire. I want readers to worry for them, post their favourite quotes on tumblr, think about them when they're cooking and cleaning! That's what I do when I love a character.
(4) How many chapters is your story going to have?
Well, MWC&C ended with 47 chapters, and BBS&B is currently on chapter 40 and will probably run longer than its predecessor. There are two more books I can think of in the main sequence, so I'd guess roughly 200+. There are a couple of prequel novels I could write, and I had an idea for a sequel trilogy, but I guess whether I invest in that depends on if I can get anyone reading the original books!
(5) Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
It's original content all the way. I'm hoping to get a chance to publish it (agents, please call me), but if all else fails, I guess I'll try and self-publish somehow. Marketing is not one of my great skills though, so it'll be a challenge.
(6) When and why did you start writing?
November 2021. I've talked about this before, but I lost my love of reading for a number of years, mostly because I was depressed and also trying to read the wrong kind of books for me just because I thought that they were the kinds of things that people should read. In 2021 I finally had to know who the spooky bone lesbians on my dash were and read Gideon the Ninth. Then that year I inhaled a dozen more sapphic books and remembered that as well as liking reading, I loved to write once upon a time (har har) and thought I'd give that another go.
(7) Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
What are words of engagement?! Are we courting, or is it pistols at dawn?! I guess I would say - assuming we're talking about interacting with other writers - don't be afraid to just come and chat with me about stuff. If I say something that reminds you of one of your characters, or something about your world, then please tell me, because I'll probably like that too. We can show stuff off to one another and play with our characters like dolls. If you mean words of encouragement, I'd say this: Even a little bit of writing is still writing. Don't beat yourself up if you don't have the energy to bash out thousands of words in a sitting. Do a few hundred; a paragraph; a sentence. You'll get there eventually. And don't bum yourself out waiting for inspiration - sometimes the best inspiration is just typing a horrifically bad sentence. Doing that makes me want to write the next one better.
I follow too many writers to list, but I'm going to tag some for this game (very, very gently), so - @sam-glade @indy-gray @aalinaaaaaa @comicgoblinart

Feel free to just ignore this if you really dislike the phrase that much, and then I will just try to remember never to use that phrase for your stories again, but I wanted to let you know that I consider "crack taken seriously" to be one of the highest accolades to give an author. Because they took something that anyone else would have made into a one line gag and filled it with life; with joy and fear and insight and inspiration; brilliant worldbuilding and inspired character development.
I don't like most humor. It usually just comes off as mocking and mean to me. But crack taken seriously is when someone takes the bitter absurdity of those "funny" bits of our world and cracks it open to show that there is an entire story full of beauty and hope inside, not just the momentary embarrassment and frustration I expected.
And also, it's just really hard to do. Most people don't have the imagination to find an entire universe in a silly joke, much less the skill to write it. Douglas Adams is crack taken seriously. And Terry Pratchett, JRR Tolkin, William Gibson. Anyone who thought of something radically different than our reality, and then wrote it so well that we all saw our own lives reflected in it. In fact, it showed us ourselves reflected so clearly that it taught us things about ourselves we never thought to look at; changed us in ways that a story that pandered to our expectations of how the world works never could.
Done right, absurdity and silliness leaves the reader receptive to considering radical ideas they might have ignored in any other context. I find it an amazingly powerful literary device. Most cracky fanfic doesn't go that far, of course. But even when it's just used to give a different interpretation of a cannon scene, not political commentary, it hits me harder than more conventionally structured works trying to do the same thing. And I can't write it at all so I find it really technically impressive when someone pulls it off. The timing and pacing is really hard to do!
( crack taken seriously tends to be something that makes me giggle or go "WTF?" at first, but ends with me sitting in stunned silence, thinking "OH." I mean, there are variants, it's not like a rule, but that's kind of the core feeling I get from it.
It's an actual unique genre in my mind, not literally something silly treated as serious)
Oh friend it's okay, I don't actually need anyone to change up their tagging systems for me! And thank you for sharing your thoughts on the 'crack taken seriously' tag 🥰 I do objectively know most people mean it in a good way, it just also catches me off guard every time because the pieces of my writing that I think people label me as a 'crack' writer for aren't what I'd label as 'crack', so there's a disconnect for me (ie something like my necromancy AU I haven't written yet, where Chay can just raise the dead as he pleases and I use that to dig into Big's relationship with personhood, is crack taken seriously to me; stuff that just plays off silliness like an accidental pony-play or ridiculous friendship shenanigans i'd just tag as humor). plus, the definition for 'crack' is all over the place-- I always assume the nicer definitions for my own sake, but I'm not entirely sure sometimes.
so in a combination of my own writing insecurities and the definition mismatch, I feel very...odd? ig? about the label. it's very much a me thing, I know that, but sometimes the specific combination of tags left on my stuff feels more like "this person's a crack writer BUT--" and it kinda feels like I'm being put on the backfoot/dismissed, or that what I like to write is somehow 'less' and needs to be justified to be liked. this is still a me issue, but sometimes the disconnect hits strong and I just feel baffled for the day.

Don't tempt me with that "I wish you would write a fic where" post.
👀
I was reading Heat again and I know you call it unrepentant breeding kink but some of the things that are mentioned about Daniel and Terry make me want to know what the first stages of their courtship were like.
Why did Terry and Daniel keep their relationship + Sam out of the public eye? Had Daniel tried to resist Terry's charms? Was it simply privacy? Why did they wait until Robbie (other than to show off how fertile Daniel was.) I'd love to know what some of the crazy headlines said about their wedding. About having Sam out of wedlock, etc.
I want the drama and the gossip. Lol.
Also, I am very curious about what would happen in a sequel to I Will Be The One where Daniel slowly regains his memories, and he's heart broken, but he can't stop loving the version of Terry he's come to know.
I crave dysfunction.
Sorry for the super late reply - I was trying to come up with a decent answer because I don’t really have a backstory - and to be honest - usually don’t for most of my stuff - it’s wide open (like Daniel 😈) for you to insert your own HC within the context of the story if you so desire but I would imagine Daniel was behind it.
Maybe he was paranoid about Sam’s safety - maybe he wanted his new little family to be just for him and them and not have the outside world intrude.
The press were so obsessed with Terry and Daniel when it was rumoured they were dating and he doesn’t want that for his daughter / not for the first few years of her life anyway.
It’s like a celebrities who keep their marriage secret and even their children - for as long as possible.
There’s Daniel’s age and Terry is a sought after Alpha and the omegas are like petty debutantes - there is a lot of infighting and they’re all jealous of Daniel - who is not only unfairly pretty but a rare male omega who bagged THE Terry Silver - years and years of of omegas throwing themselves at him - acting as society deems they should and Terry mates THAT omega instead - who doesn’t even act like a proper omega of their circle should.
Not that anyone is dumb enough to say that while Terry is around but they’ll circle Daniel like vultures - although someone was dumb enough to make a comment about Sam being born out of wedlock AND how unfortunate it is that she has an omega parent who doesn’t how to behave - implies that Daniel and this Sam are lesser than because of it - and Daniel was livid but also hurt - and if there is one thing Terry hates more than anything is an upset mate not will he entrain the idea that his mate and daughter are less than absolutely perfect (he picked Daniel after all and put Sam inside him).
Besides, Terry is a prime Aloha and if it’s good enough for him (more than good enough he purrs to his omega later that night balls deep, his little omega gauging bloody rivers into his back panting in his ear for it) than it’s good enough for everyone else - besides these are lesser alphas that just don’t know how to handle such an exceptional creature as Terry’s mate.
So as much as he wants to show the world who Daniel belongs to - and he does when the time comes - he also only wants to subject Daniel to this new social circle when necessary - and it will give Daniel time to get used to his new life, and for Terry to try to polish out a bit of the rough edges - only because they’ll eat him alive.
Terry too likes this time away from all the bullshit of his position - to live the domestic life with Daniel - something he thought he never would have wanted.
Also, a possessiveness he has never felt overtook him when he got Daniel with child, especially when he started to show - and he had to grapple with the urge to hide him away for his eyes only - barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen type situation - and Terry too had to grapple with the fear he felt about Daniel’s safety.
Besides, the rumors are all over the place / sometimes the press paint Terry in a less than favourable light - the age difference, the wealth difference, getting an omega so young pregnant.
Sometimes they paint Daniel as some gold digger who baby trapped Terry - depends on what mood the press is for which agenda they push that week.
I have to say for the amnesia fics I never once entertained the idea of Daniel regaining his memory - it was a thought that literally never crossed my mind.
But I assume it would be like that saying - when is a monster not a monster? When you love it.
Daniel would be in too deep and although the hurt would run deep and trust broken he would have to find a way to reconcile that.

I would love to hear about 19, 57, and 75 for the ask game for fanfic writers!!! <3<3<3
(For the fanfic writer's ask game)
19. What are some books or authors that influenced your style the most? -- I've likely been influenced a lot by pretty much everything I've read; sometimes I can even tell that I've been reading a lot of fanfic by another writer because I'll start to notice similarities in style pop up in my own wips! So there are probably a lot of fic writers that influence my style because of that. But if I have to name at least one name, I think one of the main influences is probably Terry Pratchett's discworld books, partially because I've read a lot of them but also partially because that style of plotting and referencing and writing is fairly aspirational for me. The way he managed to describe characters so efficiently, and then push them along their arcs in such a subtle and intriguing way, as well as push the huge world around them along too is just, so *chef's kiss* to me.
57. What is the last thing that a fic made you google when you were reading it? -- I'm glad this isn't the one about what I googled while I was writing fic, because that would A. be too spoilery for the event this wip is for (hello codywan remix challenge <3), and B. would take a while (I love to research). But HMMM, I don't usually find myself pausing to look stuff up while I'm reading something, usually because I assume it'll be explained later or through context and also because I'm too lazy and/or engaged in reading to even think about pausing.
Okay I've finally scrolled far enough down in my browser history to find the real answer to this question and it was to look up what a metoidioplasty is, because it was mentioned offhand in a fic and I could sort of tell through (spicy) context what it meant but I'd never heard the medical term before. So there we are! From last week.
75. Do you know how your story ends before you start writing? -- I usually prefer to, especially for longer fics. A lot of the time I don't let myself start writing the wip until I do know how the story ends, otherwise I know I'll be in a lot of creative trouble later! Which leads to a fair few abandoned half-outlines. However, sometimes I do get struck by the muse's arrow (I'm assuming muses function like cupid) and I am utterly compelled to start writing an idea out, and just hope that I'll find a satisfying ending by the time I get there. Notable fics that have been written this way include Wild Time, Inexpressibly to Untangle, and Seeker, Prospector.

Tumblr media
Some are fic-specific but anon? I might be able to guess who you are and Ily
Also I Can't figure out how to put a 'read more' here on mobile? Hhh sorry its long (and I'll tag it as such) but anyways
-
B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
Uh.  nah not most my writing? The stuff that is, it's all more ventish stuff that I’ve never posted online. I *do* write children based on my experiences with kids though!
C: What character do you identify with most?
Uhhhhhhhhhh. Hhh. Ayano from the Kagerou Project!! She's a big sis who can and will die for her little siblings, and only wants the best for her family and friends.
F: Care to share a favorite hurt/comfort fic?
Hm. I think my favorites, they're not online; sometimes I get premium access to fics my friends have written and they're Good Stuff but you won't find them on a fanfic site. (While we're here check out @ldotrage though!! Good friend, good writing, and it's writing you can find online too… ooh, they wrote a Jagen and Marth fic that's a Good hurt/comfort thing!)
G: Care to share a favorite crack fic?
It's less crack and more just silly, but ‘Depression Meals’ by MarkoftheAsphodel on Ao3! It's a fun little FE Heroes thing featuring a bunch of different characters, and it's not serious at all but still rather IC for that.
H: How would you describe your style?
Uh. Inner monolgue-driven? Limited third-person? I uhhhhh like to write from one character's point of view at a given moment, but I'm not much of a first- or second-person writer.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Hhhurt/comfort. Especially with a Lot of angst before the comfort happens. Let the character go through heck and then let them recover with the help of their closest friends!! It's good.
K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?
Hm. Well once I had this AU where this one dude got possessed by a Big Bad and it was Rough because it ended with him dying? It was Great man
L: What’s the weirdest AU you’ve ever come up with?
Hm. Uhhhhhhh. My friends and I made the Slorp AU. Search my blog for the tag ‘slorp’; I will not give context.
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
Well rn I'm writing a thingy that's just a look into what happened during this one off-screen event… in this event, pretty much everybody but one person dies!! I'm trying to actually write it well, with proper pacing and emotions and everything. It's a big WIP and I'm sure it's gonna be long and angsty whoops.
N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Hurt/comfort, preferably platonic. I'd Die if there was more of that because it's exactly my very specific tastes.
O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?
Kinda both? It's the characters, reacting to and/or kicking off the plot.
P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)
Ummm more gardener? I have vague ideas in my head, but exact structure is Hard.
Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?
Oh definitely. I have a whole little Google doc of discarded scenes and lines.
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
The published author Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors! His writing style is very expressive and honestly probably where I get my preference for limited third-person from.
Fanfic-wise… @ldotrage again, their dialogue is always so good, @yonch is a good friend of mine and their way of showing emotions and thoughts through word and punctuation choices? Excellent! Also, @solrosfalt ! Go check out their FE fic, Princess of Dawn! It's still in progress and the fight scenes are amazing and vibrant. I want to someday pace fight scenes like that.
S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?
Can't think of any? Though, I am all for acknowledging which characters in-game are absolute powerhouses… (Here's looking at you, Caeda.)
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
Mmm can't think of any? I can't think of fandom-wide tropes.
U: A pairing you might like to write for, but haven’t tried yet.
Shintaro and Ayano from Kagerou Project. I already know I Love Them.
V: A secondary (or underrated) character you want to see more of in fic?
Cain, from the Archanea series in Fire Emblem! He's one of my top FE favorites and honestly I probably fixate on him more than I should given he's a more minor character.
W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?
Kinda depends, but I think general! I like dialogue prompts, honestly, the ones that are like one or two lines. They're general and fun to work with, if you have the right one.
X: A character you enjoy making suffer.
Hrk. All. All of my favorites??? Again: guilty pleasure is angsty hurt/comfort.
Y: A character you want to protect.
Marth from Shadow Dragon!! He's a good boy, and needs a good support group.
Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?
I don't tend to write or read MCD much, just because I don't I guess, but I find deaths super hard to pace, so I shy away from it. When it comes to deaths… Um, the death of main characters in like, ‘everyone dies’ AU's. I want my happy endings, dangit.
