Note: Finally part 3 is here! Also, this probably is some of the longest hcs I have done. This starts from episode 3 to episode 7. Mainly platonic, but there could be a romantic pairing. Also, the reader is basically trying to keep everything from going to shit

The conflict between Alicent and Rhaenyra has persisted over the years. And you tend to find yourself directly in the heart of the fights. However with Viserys there; he’s made sure that you diverge away from their disputes. He has long accepted that his wife and daughter will never get along, but what they will not do is involve you in their conflicts.

Many children have been born throughout the years, and the two women made sure you were there for each. They secretly want you to prefer one over the other. Although you lack a dragon, Alicent and Rhaenyra made their children believe you are related to them by blood.

Similar to their mother, Jace and Luke are a bit possessive. While they can be a bit mischievous, the two typically listen to you, even more than their mother. Their faces light up when they see you and they run right up to greet you. Also, they like it when you watch them spar, asking whether they did well, grinning back when you tell them they did. While you have noticed how different the boys are, you chose not to say anything, even when Alicent argued with Viserys regarding it.

At least for the time being, Luke is the youngest of the bunch. He takes full advantage of it when the other kids are fighting for your attention. Such as pretending to be hurt so you can comfort him. It is well known that he follows you around the court and becomes agitated when you focus on someone else.

Like Criston, there’s a very similar chance that Harwin also begins to have tendencies for you. His fondness for you doesn’t go unnoticed by the court. He trusts you well enough that he isn't afraid to show affection towards Jace, Luke, and Rhaenyra. Harwin feels so strongly about you that even the smallest remark about you will prompt him to intervene.

Since they've likely spent the most time with you, Jace and Luke are the most jealous of Aegon and Helaena. Aegon and Helaena are also very attached to you. Aegon is frequently pressured by his family to fill in a role he doesn’t want. He appreciates having someone who is gentle and doesn't push him as the others do. Helaena, on the other hand, is attached to you because you're the only person who doesn't think of her as strange or give her odd looks; instead, you sit with her and listen to her go on about all the kinds of insects she has.

Aemond is a completely different case. You're used to possessiveness, but Aemond is almost always by your side. Being the second son, he is frequently overlooked or passed over in favor of his brother, never mind the fact that he is still without a dragon. Because of all the love and attention, you show Aemond, he grows quickly fond of you. Including his siblings, he is jealous of everyone. The fact that Alicent also forces particular ideas into Aemond's mind is not helpful.

Aside from Helaena- in contrast to his two brothers, Dareon is also the most pleasant. Throughout the years, he has always been gentle and sweet and has often given you the prettiest flowers as they remind him of you. Dareon had to eventually depart from King's Landing in order to go to Oldtown and serve as Lord Omund Hightower's squire. Before leaving, he embraced you and made you swear you would exchange ravens, no matter what.

You occasionally also spent time in Driftmark with Rhaenys and Corlys. Rhaenys makes you ride her dragon back and forth, as it is the fastest way to travel. There are times when you run into Daemon and Laena, and they are thrilled to see you. Likewise, Baela and Rhaena become very excited whenever they get to meet you.

Similar to the other kids, the two girls adore spending time with you. They find themselves missing you when they have to travel with their parents. Rhaena sometimes feels left out compared to her sister and enjoys any attention you give her. Baela, on the other hand, is more demanding and jealous than her sister. She often reminds you of Daemon.

Speaking of Velaryons, Laenor is content to reside in King's landing, even though he longs to return home and engage in battles. Your presence there is one of the few pleasant things he anticipates. Laenor, unlike the others, enjoys sparring with you and will gladly teach you how to fend for yourself. It's one of his favorite ways to spend time with you.

Rhaenyra has objected to the idea a few times, but when you beg her to reconsider, she eventually gives in. She has Harwin watch and Laenor promises that only wooden swords will be used. Alicent and Criston, on the other hand, are horrified at the thought of you wielding a sword even if it’s wooden, and possibly hurting yourself.

Criston develops a rivalry with Harwin regarding you. And it's possible that Criston already dislikes Harwin as a result of jealousy or a bruised ego. Criston is supposed to be your sworn protector, not him. He will not only support Alicent's animosity toward Rhaenyra, but also ensure that some of Alicent's animosity is directed at Harwin.

Viserys occupies most of his time with you as he gets older and his health deteriorates. While he prefers Rhaenyra to his children with Alicent, it gradually becomes clear that he favors you even more. Viserys always relies on you for solace, and you never fail to reassure him. He feels comfortable sharing his shame and suffering with you, particularly regarding Aemma.

As Rhaenyra gives birth to Joffrey, you and Laenor wait outside. Only to be confused when you see Rhaenyra carrying Joffrey already walking and ascending the stairs. Apparently, the queen wants to see the baby right away. You insist she rests while you bring the child to the queen, but she refuses. There is a glimmer of hope in Rhaenyra that this will help you realize just how cruel Alicent is in this whole situation.

Your focus is now on Joffrey in light of everything that is happening. You are the one holding him the most, along with Rhaenyra. Luke, who is accustomed to receiving the majority of your attention, is a little jealous of his baby brother. As Harwin requests to see Joffrey, you place the child in his arms. While rocking the baby; he grins, saying you’d be a great aunt to the boy.

Since you lack a dragon, the kids quarrel over which one you should ride. Jace argues you should ride his dragon, but Aegon counters that since his is larger, it’ll be better. Aemond says nothing during the entire conversation.

When the boys offer to give Aemond a pig for him to ‘ride’, Aemond immediately goes to you; telling you what they did as you console him. You confront the boys to scold them on the matter and Aemond can be seen almost smiling in the background.

At Pentos, Laena wants to leave, but Daemon is adamant about staying. The truth is that Laena misses her home, her family, and occasionally, even you. And to make matters worse, Laena is worried about the hightowers, and she can tell that her husband feels the same way. Besides, her daughters also miss you.

As stated, you frequently watch the boys spar, and they all like to show off. Viserys occasionally join you and express his desire for the boys to bond through sparring. However, an unfortunate event occurs when Harwin lunges at Criston. As Harwin is pulled back by four men and forced to leave, Criston feels victorious; this will make you see Harwin as the man he is.

Before departing, Harwin bids you and the children farewell. He promises to come to see you someday and exchange ravens with you. Harwin advises you to take care of the boys and your "sister". You're not aware that this is the last time you'll see him.

Like her father, Rhaenyra attempts to keep you in her vicinity as much as possible during that time. The rumors surrounding the court become too much, and she feels as though her friendship with Alicent will never be repaired. Laenor is also preoccupied with drinking at the moment. This all just makes her feel more isolated than ever. She desires to depart for Dragonstone and wishes for you to accompany her.

As you might expect, Alicent declines and assumes you'll stay in King's Landing. But Alicent is taken aback when you ask to accompany Rhaenyra. This was brought on by guilt—the guilt you felt for siding with Alicent more than Rhaenyra, and the guilt you felt for not being a good sister to her. Otherwise, she wouldn't feel so alone. Even when Alicent is pleading otherwise, Viserys allows you to travel with Rhaenyra for a time.

You are greeted at Dragonstone with the most heartbreaking news: Harwin and Leana are dead. Knowing how much she cared for him, you take a moment to console Rhaenyra. Jace comes to you for consolation as well, and you let him grieve. Luke is still too young to recognize Harwin was his father, but he claims to miss him and exhibits sadness over his passing. When you finally get to Laenor to comfort him over the loss of his sister, you don't hold any of his tears against him.

When you attend Laena’s funeral, there seem to be only a few who are truly grieving. While you’re used to everyone’s eyes on you, this time it feels unsettling. Baela and Rhaena are the ones you approach first, and you take them both in your arms. Later, Rhaenys joins, and the two of you share a hug and a private moment. Then you find yourself walking up to Corlys, who is speaking to Jace. The instant Corlys notices you, he immediately stands up and embraces you, too. Jace is gently nudged by you to go comfort the girls.

Your eyes meet Daemon's, but Otto stops you as you try to reach him. Otto hugs you while expressing his regret for what happened; all in front of Daemon. You both can see the anger on Daemon's face as he walks to you. Otto is pulled aside, and the two of them have a brief conversation; you can tell from the look on Otto's face that Daemon said something demeaning.

Aegon seems to prefer being anywhere else than here. He is standing near you most of the time and will occasionally take a cup whenever a servant passes by carrying a tray. Helaena chooses to entertain herself by catching a spider. She shows it to you, and despite your sorrow, you smile at her. You are aware of Criston and Alicent watching you the entire, and wonder why Criston seems content.

Later at night, you are summoned to the room because of an incident involving the children. Luke, Jace, Baela, and Rhaena come running to you the moment you enter the room. As Luke's face is the most battered, your attention is drawn to him. But when you see Aemond on the chair, you are horrified. Aemond then turns to fully face you, wanting you to see what they did to him.

Nearly in tears, Alicent demands justice. When Viserys refuses, she is left with no other option. Alicent grabs the king’s blade and heads to the children. She is stunned to witness you quickly running to put your body between her and Luke. More so, the look on your face when she cuts Rhaenyra. It was a look of fear. She could still hear Rhaenyra's words, "Now they see you for what you're."

Aemond breaks the silence by telling his mother not to mourn over him, and that this is a fair trade. He leans on his mother, but she is perplexed when he abruptly leaves her side to approach Rhaenyra and those nearby.

They realize you are what he is actually heading toward, not Rhaenyra. You still have Luke in one arm when he approaches you, and Aemond rests his head against your shoulder. You reluctantly embrace him while everyone looks on. With his good eye, Aemond turns to Luke, glaring ferociously. No one notices.

You then remain by Rhaenyra's side as the maester sews her arm. In another room, Alicent is distressed. She tells her father about the looks you gave her that night and how she might have lost your favor. How she must have frightened you. But she is reassured by Otto that this is untrue; you embracing Aemond that night proved there’s still a chance of you being on their side. You’re fond of the children, and Otto will use that to his every advantage.

At night time, you're taken aback when Laenor wakes you. He apologizes for being absent when the incident happened and for failing to offer you comfort when you needed it, as he was too preoccupied with his grief. Strangely, though, Laenor bids you farewell and mentions how much he values having you in his life.

In the early morning, you’re in Rhaenys’ chamber consoling her for the loss of her son. Viserys had intended to take you with him to King's landing, but after seeing how Rhaenys became childless in a span of days, Viserys let you stay to aid Rhaenys in her grief.

You soon serve as one of the witnesses at Rhaenyra and Daemon's marriage. You are surrounded by the children, who are all in your immediate vicinity. You knew the marriage was not done out of love, but to prepare for something, and for that, you have begun to dread the future.

it’s interesting how the only person to show remorse after the altercation is alicent. don’t get me wrong i like rhaenyra, but we don’t hear about her feeling bad for implying she wants aemond tortured nor does viserys seem to regret insinuating that he would cut out his own children’s tongues meanwhile alicent very clearly felt guilty for the way she behaved and that she harmed rhaenyra. if the show wants me to root for team black they are doing a poor job because ever other character is more sympathetic than they are in my opinion.

I never thought of it like that but you’re right. Alicent was in the wrong trying to cut out a little boys eye and accidentally injuring Rhaenyra in her rage but she obviously felt genuine remorse even though her father praised her for it and framed it as some great thing she did (and we know she craves her fathers love and approval).

Viserys made me sick when he said he would cut out the tongues of anyone who doubted the legitimacy of his grandchildren. I get wanting to defend his family but he said it in response to his YOUNG CHILDREN calling them bastards in a typical child argument way and it should of been clear to him that they heard rumours growing up and wouldn’t understand that calling another child a bastard would be treason. He only cares about Rhaenyra and her children not the kids he made Alicent birth for him and it shows. He didn’t show any concern over what happened to aegon, he only got angry. Those poor kids never experienced love from their own father.

Rhaenyra has been one of my favourites in this show and I know she is supposed to get more harsh and ruthless but insisting that a child, let alone her own brother, should be tortured to find out where he overheard a true rumour about her children’s parentage is still gross. Like you said, she doesn’t feel remorseful about this from what we see. She also doesn’t seem to feel bad that her son has permanently mutilated and blinded another child in one eye. Even if it is in self defense it is not good that the fight escalated to that point. You’d think she would have spoken to Luke about it, Luke seems like a good boy and could be traumatised by the fact that he caused an injury that severe. Given how we’ve seen Rhaenyra be a good mother you’d think she would also talk to her boys, who by the way are still grieving Harwin, not to let violence escalate that far or talk to them about maybe practicing self defence that won’t cause severe injury.

Anyways this is going off topic but although I thought the knife scene was well written and showed us spilled truth tea on who the adult caharacters really are. I was ultimately disappointed in the way Nyra was written in this episode overall. I felt like a lot of her character revolves around her relationship with demon here. From talking about how he left her alone and she needed him with her (she had other people who loved her and was strong and capable in her own right) and I mean you could argue that this is to show how the relationship isn’t healthy and young Rhaenyra has been groomed into an unhealthy attachment but the scene was written as romantic and followed with a sex scene (which went on the same time their kids were sneaking out and getting into a pretty dangerous fight) and then after the events of that night her next priority is figuring out a way to marry demon and create some true targaryen legitimate heirs. She is okay with faking Laenors death and marrying daemon right after without considering how it will impact all four kids and how faking laenors death means the boys will lose another father a couple of weeks after they lost Harwin and be re-traumatised. Even if they’ve been told he is alive they’d be feeling so betrayed by both parents for doing such a thing. Demon is gonna be her downfall, he has a hold on her and brings out her worse and I hope the show doesn’t try to #powercouple them.

I agree about team black and I’m hoping that the reason we don’t find them rootable is because we aren’t supposed to. I like and hate certain members of both teams but I think they’re both bad and I am hoping the show makes both teams morally grey instead of going with the whole good guys vs bad guys because this is an asoiaf story not a marvel movie.

I don't know if you're familiar with the concept of yandere, but I can clearly see the greens and the blacks as yanderes for Jace.

Romantic Yanderes: Aemond, Aegon II, Baela, Daeron, Cregan and Lucerys

Platonic Yanderes: Rhaenyra, Daemon, Viserys, Corlys, Rhaenys, Joffrey, Rhaena, Helaena, Aegon III, Viserys II, Laenor, Harwin, Alicent and Otto

It may seem strange, but I can see Alicent creating an obsession with Jace when she sees in him the younger version of Rhaenyra, the one who was her best friend and unlike what happened with Rhaenyra, she decides to “save” Jace and do everything to keep him in the path that she considers correct. She sees in him a second chance, and she will be damned if she loses it.

Otto, on the other hand, sees in Jace a way to get what he wants, which is to put Aegon II on the throne and prevent Rhaenyra from assuming her birthright. After all, if Jace and Aegon get married and Aegon usurps his sister's throne, even more people would be willing to support him, since both bloodlines will be united and will continue on the Iron Throne through their children, which would be the perfect solution for the misogynistic lords of Westeros who do not accept a woman on the Iron Throne and to avoid a war, in addition to putting Rhaenyra in a complicated position, against her own son. In his ambition, when Otto begins to observe Jace more closely, he realizes how intelligent and capable he is as an heir to the throne, Otto wishes his own grandson was like that. Later, when his admiration, initially spiteful and then genuine, intensifies, he becomes even more invested in his plans. After all, if Jace is (unfortunately) not his grandson by blood, he will become one through marriage.

Imagine how the Alicent x Rhaenyra and Daemon x Otto conflicts would intensify in this scenario? While Alicent and Otto are extremely invested in "saving" Jace from Daemyra's "vile influence", Rhaenyra and Daemon are willing to do whatever is necessary to free their eldest son from the Hightowers' clutches.

Poor Jace! He would be the center of the war. The greens and the blacks would not just be fighting for the iron throne, but mainly for him.

!! i'm very familiar with the concept of yanderes (it's one of my fav flavors!!🤭) and anon your mind!!😳🧠🤯🤯 i do think out of all of them otto might be the hardest sell/maybe the least attached yandere bc jace definitely has his own opinions, for all that he values outside advice, and otto's main issue with seating daemon or rhaenyra as heir was they were too strong-minded for him to fully control/coral. so yeah i think that would be a point of contention at least early on but you're right and i don't think it'd be impossible to change his mind (jace and his silvertongue is very important to me and i'd love to see it pitted against otto LOL)

PLEASE otto and alicent having delulu saviour complexes abt jace meanwhile daemyra are protective parents goes hard asf fjsk but poor jace😭😭 him being the center of the war would wreak such havoc on his already-present issues and complexes🥹 he's having a terrible time but we! Anti Daemyra are pitiful...

I wondered what the anti Daemyra would say to make it seem like the couple still weren't in love with each other. And what's come out of it so far is truly pitiful.

" Dude why are Daemyra Shippers so convinced Rhaenyra loves Daemon? Like have they missed the fact that Rhaenyra has admitted that she loved both Harwin and Laenor. And if you count Episode 8 she has now said she loved Laenor 3 times when she told Rhaenys she didn’t kill Laenor. I honestly believe that if Rhaenyra hadn’t been so worried about the throne that she wouldn’t have married Daemon and would have remained married to Laenor. She may also even love Alicent as she was willing to leave Daemon at the end of Episode 8 to go back to Kings Landing to see her.

Shippers don’t want to see Deamyra for what is deep down - a political arrangement with perhaps some benefits. Like the proposal scene couldn’t have been more political. No mention of love, just talk of old rulers and power, you get the idea. And yes Daemon and Rhaenyra had kids but you could argue that that they did that so that they could marry off their sons to make more political attachments. Also if you really look at Rhaenyra in Episode 8 she is often keeping her distance from Daemon. The only times she is near Daemon is when it has to be seen/ a political stance. Meeting Viserys, meeting Alicent and the dinner table, they put on a show of unity. But when Rhaenyra sees her father, goes to talk about her love for Laenor to Rhaenys, it is just her.

So Daemyra love is not canon. But good news for Leanor and Harwin cause those ships are. "

Seriously, other than making people laugh I don't know what else it's supposed to do? Is this a joke maybe?

Also, Rhaenyra never said she loved Hawrin, (romantically) just that she trusted him and found joy in his arms and it felt good to be wanted. Well, tencically if, when she told Daemon that those they loved had perished in the fires… Like that didn't serve to put Daemyra in parallel? Rhaenyra loved Harwin, sure, but that doesn't mean she was in love with him.

Rhaenyra loves Laenor, yes, but not romantically. He's gay, damn it. They really need to stop acting like Rhaenyra had fallen in love with him!

They also seem to purposely forget that Rhaenyra said she was alone without Daemon and that her life had become a tragedy without him…

Another important clarification, two characters in love do not necessarily need to tell each other that they love each other for us to see it, or to believe it.

Ah and the only times Rhaenyra is close to Daemon is a public charade for political reasons, otherwise she is distant from him? Like when Daemon tenderly caressed her belly when they were alone? Like when Rhaenyra took Daemon's arm and stroked it gently in front of a half-conscious Viserys who must not even have noticed the gesture? Like when they held hands before Alicent walked into the room? Like when Daemon and Rhaenyra always stand close together, in public or not? The fact that Daemon beheaded Vaemond himself for calling Rhaenyra's children a bastard and Rhaenyra herself a whore? The point of Daemon reacting in such an extreme way if he didn't like Rhaenyra? No because in any case Viserys would have punished him, we know that. Not to mention their closeness and their joy during dinner, which it is stupid to call political, precisely because they seem the same in private? They just act like a married couple in love.

Seriously, Daemon and Rhaenyra have been looking for each other the whole series. They were also constantly put in parallel, even when they were not together in episodes 3 and 6. Their reunion was not bestial sex, but tender. To say that it was just ass for ass is bullshit, just enough to compare with Mysaria.

I could say a million other things, but really, just read this:

“Daemon and Rhaenyra — they're together at the beginning of my episode. Part of the thing that we felt was important was to believe that they were in love with each other. And not just believe it, but feel the electricity. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I am very much in love with my husband, and I still have a crush on him. And when I see him, I still get chills. And I wanted to see that, I wanted to feel that from them. Because this was a delicate fleeting moment, as you know having seen the episode. We needed to feel the realism of that. And so the two of them [Matt and Emma] had a lot of conversations — even without me — where they were building their relationship, and building the chemistry. So I was really pleased when we got to shooting their first scene together, where Rhaenyra says ‘I need to go back home’ — just the way he looked at her…I just love that.”

Gonna take the opportunity to share my silly little headcanons about "The Alirick AU"

Claere lives long enough to talk to Rhea about getting Yorick & Alicent betrothed to discourage more Young Rhaenicent Smooching (Claere Hightower Homophobic Confirmed)

They have a "blend' of Alicent's & Yorick's SOTF!canon kids (see: Yorick's oldest daughter is a canon event, so she's Aegon's twin sister & then Helaena>Aemond>Daeron as actually happens)

Alicent's kids' ages are all shifted down & their names are different: Rhea & Addam (formerly Aegon) are 17, Claere (formerly Helaena) is 15, Yorbert (formerly Aemond) is 14, Theo (formerly Daeron) is 11

The Alirick Dynamic is nowhere near as tooth-rottingly sweet (or ungodly horny) as Yoreen, because after pregnancy #4 it gets pretty clear to Yorick that she's just never gonna be as into him as he is her. So it just sorta becomes "lesbian & her bestie who she has kids with." It's very wholesome & sweet, but not at all romantic (and Yorick doesn't get to indulge in how much of an absolute freak he is capable of being. Everyone pour one out for his being into MILFs & wanting to fuck at the high table not seeing fruition due to Alicent's lesbianism & turbocatholocism)

Alicent's kids (save Daeron, who was raised away from the BS & has a fighting chance regardless) get to be so much more well adjusted, & because that's his actual dad, Aegon isn't unwell about Yorick

Because Alicent isn't there as an option for Vizzy (because if the Alirick match was one of the last things Claere did, I think Otto would be trying to find some other option for raising his House's station just to honor his wife's memory) the marriage to Laena goes through--thus negating the need for Rhaenyra/Laenor, so Rhaenyra marries Harwin & her boys by him are legitimate (Jace becomes Jaehaerys & goes by Jae, Luke is...just Luke, idfk what Joffrey's name is. Maybe they name him after Lyonel's dad? Another Valyrian name?)

This fucks the factions for The Dance majorly & probably heavily alters who the Royce siblings side with (if anyone), because you cannot avoid it unless Laena has zero sons. Corlys would be going to war to put his grandsons on the throne.

This AU kinda fucks over poor Ella. If we're putting The Harwin Push on Rhaenyra, we aren't putting it on her...which just kinda means there's no perfectly timed interruptions by either his brother or The Reachmen Fleet to stop Larys from being fucking weird. I'm not saying that Larella happens, but there is no interruption for his attempting to make it so & IDK what happens there other than him having her as an attack dog is fucking terrifying.

The Daemon/Laena marriage doesn't happen, obvi, so his half-self-imposed exile in Essos goes very differently. Am I sure how differently? No.

Aemon's story does not change at all. Literally zero changes other than who he's absurdly loyal & concerningly attached to (see: Alicent &...no, I shant say)

Part 1 | part 3

"You've gone quite in the last couple of days, what's going on with you?"

Rhaenyra asked when she got to alicent locker.

Its been 3 days since otto, Alicent's father, came back and the two have barely saw each other or spoken in this time.

Alicent was taking her histy book out before she glanced at her friend.

Alicent couldn't blame her friend for asking. The two were so used to be attached together, that it was ood when they were separated for more then a day.

"Im fine, just busy" Alicent said with a shrug.

"Busy with what? We were suppose to be studying together to our finals, you said that yourself" Rhaenyra said confused

"Something is happening and you're not telling me about it, i can feel it"

Alicent raised an eyebrow at her best friend

"Thats absurd Rhae, don't overthink that. Tho Im genuinely sorry for not being around in the last few days, and i miss you too"

Rhaenyra looked at the taller girl skeptically

"Are you okay? Did he said anything? You know that if he's being a dick to you , you can always stay at my place, my parents loves you"

Alicent smiled at her best friend just before the bell ring

"Im okay Rhae, ill talk to you later, I promise"

Alicent indeed wasn't okay as she tried to make it look like,

She was tired and ashamed and a bit scared to be honest.

Her father was never pleased with her, and no matter how hard she tried she never felt good enough for him.

When he returned home from his business trip he told her about the son of his boss at work, "a brilliant young man" he said, and before she even had the opportunity to speak he ordered her to dress nicely to meet with him.

To say larys was "a brilliant young man" would be an overstatement, but she couldn't say much since it was her father order.

Larys was a classmate of hers, but she never really spoken to him.

He was odd and a bit creepy in her eyes, but he was rich and basically immune from any criticism and as far as anyone knew he was harmless so everyone just let him be.

On the other hand, she knew who his brother was.

He was a bit older then her and graduated from their school two years before, she didn't knew much about harwin, but Rhaenyra knew him and she remembered that he was always nice and protective of her, so she took a liking of him.

The date with larys was terrible if Alicent being honest.

He tried to kiss her halfway trough it, but she moved away, and yet he didn't seemed to get the message. Or care.

She knew she definitely didn't want to do that again. All she wanted afterwards was to not come back to her father's questioning gaze, but to Rhaenyra's embrace.

Unfortunately for her, she couldn't.

When her father asked about the unwanted date, she told the truth, and he didn't seem to like her take on it, as he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her roughly to her bedroom.

Surly a young, rich guy like larys cant be that bad.

Her father's handprint stayed on her arm in the shades of black and blue, and she knew if she spend enough time with Rhaenyra she was bound to find out, so she kept her distance.

Because that was an accident, and things like that rarely happened with them, and he was her father.

Eventually, she agreed to a second date with larys.

"Aegon" rhaenyra said as she flopped in the chair next to her brother.

The library was quiet, and aegon knew his sister wouldn't keep it that way for long

"Busy" he said without taking his eyes of the notebook in front of him.

"Aegon" she repeated with a whine and he sighed

"Busy" he said again, annoyed

"Aegon!!" She took she notebook away.

"What?!" He said annoyed and looked at her.

"I think something is happening With alicent" she admitted and he raised an eyebrow

"What do you mean?" He asked confused.

"She's been acting a bit distant in the last few days" She explained

Aegon wasn't dumb, although many loved making him feel like he was.

And yet, he knew his sister better than most, he knew the older girl was basically smitten with her best friend, and he, as the good brother he was, tried to be supportive of her as much as he could.

"Nyra, she might just be busy, I'm sure its the finals that takings their toll on her, you know how she can be" he tried to reassure her.

"No, i know her, if it was just a test she would've told me, it's different, she's always getting distracted when her father comes home, but this time is different, I don't know why but i feel it"

Aegon put his hand on his sister's comforting.

"Honestly, i think you just miss her, you were together almost everyday this past two weeks, i think you just gotten used to be around her every second of every day, and it's a big change."

When he noticed that his sister didn't seemed to be convinced, he sighed

"but maybe you should do something fun together, just the two of you, especially now with all the stress you have with the finals" he offered and she nodded

"Yeah that might work" she said before smirking at him.

"Since when you're smart?" She asked and aegon laughed.

"I was always smart asshole, you were just too busy giving heart eyes to Alicent"

Rhaenyra shoved aegon playfully and he laughed

"Okay now leave me and my ADHD brain to handle my homework in peace"

Alicent arm was bothering her, and the oversized sweatshirt she had to wear to cover her bruise, wasn't helping with that.

She was sitting in history class, praying for it to end.

She tried to listen, she really did, but her mind was hung on the unwanted text larys was sending her.

She hoped that if she wouldn't show him much interest he will stop trying, but considering the fact her father was basically forcing her to meet him again again after school, it wasn't a surprise he didn't.

He phone buzzed again, just as her teacher, Tyrion, spoke about the first men and the building of the great wall in the north.

She vaguely remembered dany's ex that worked there.

'Are you free after school? I wanna take you somewhere?' She read.

Rhaenyra was nervous as she waited for alicent reply.

'I have something actually' alicent typed but didn't send.

Alicent felt like she was going to be sick as she thought about larys trying to kiss her again, or touching her for that matter.

'Whats the plan?' she texted rhaenyra back before texting larys, letting him know something came up.

I just saw your gifs of Rhaenys (my love) and the strong boys and it's the first time I noticed that during the fight Rhaenys is clearly pulling Luke and Jace too.

It's clearly sees how she has one arm around the girls and with the other she is pulling the boys closer. So far I've only seen comments of Corlys standing in front to protect Laenor's children, his wife and granddaughters and Rhaenys trusting him so much that she turns her back and protecting Laena's girls (yes, with that almost exact wording ). It's the first time I see that she included all 4!

I think you're right. I personally think that she loves girls more but she is not indifferent to boys! She might even (gasp) love them!

You are correct. I've got another gifset here which shows a better view of her actions with the boys during that scene. Corlys does push the boys behind him and out of the way but Rhaenys actively pulls those boys towards her and all four of the kids are bundled up into her arms. They move as one unit when their side moves once Rhaenyra's arm has been cut, and Rhaenys only lets the boys go when she is sure they will go straight to their mother and will be safe, lingering with physical touch in both cases (holding Luke's hand and barely keeping one hand on Jace's shoulder as Rhaena is between them).

But those kids are bundled tight against her and no one was getting through to them without going through her. I have a lot of feelings about those four little gifs.

I agree with you: she loves the girls more. I think that's just what would naturally occur, you can't blame anyone for that, really. Rhaenys has more reasons to be, and more opportunity to be, closer with the girls than with the boys, especially Baela.

She has better access to the girls, with Rhaenyra being fiercely protective of the boys and both women's tendency to isolate (on Dragonstone and Driftmark respectively), Baela's wardship, and that they are such tangible proof of her daughter and she can find solace in that. Something she cannot find in the boys after her son's "death". In Episode 07, she is shown as being more attached to the girls because of course she is, their mother just died and their father is AWOL for hours. And she has no clue that Jace is in mourning for Harwin, besides, he has both of his parents to go to for solace at that wake, if he needs comfort. Baela and Rhaena need her and she needs them.

It's not anyone's fault but those boys represent a heck of a political headache. They just do, and whilst it's something that Corlys is willing to sort of either bury his head about or bulldoze through, a bit like Viserys, Rhaenys only makes the very real point that Lucerys inheriting Driftmark puts Driftmark at risk. It makes Driftmark a trial run for Jacaerys's, and therefore Rhaenyra's, succession. It's only natural that Rhaenys sees that and therefore wants to avoid it. How to avoid it? Make sure Lucerys is not in line.

And it's worth noting she's suggested this once, and for the first time, in an emotional moment for both Corlys and herself. And she does it only in circumstances where a change in the succession could be tarted up and messaged as something not against the boys, but a choice to pass over Laenor (a "legitimate" heir) for their newly-deceased daughter, in front of all the royal family, in a way that must be accepted. It would not bring the subject of the boys's birth into question. Or, at least, no more than it already is, as an open secret.

The plan becomes unfeasible when Laenor is "killed" and Viserys declares any mention of illegitimacy as treasonous - Rhaenys's plan becomes too risky and so she leaves it. Fair play, can't fault her for that. And she can't do anything anyway because Corlys ups and leaves and only he can actually change the succession.

She never acts in any sort of personally malicious way towards the boys. Ever. I mean, she barely interacts with them, which is a symptom of the structure of the show - though she has more interaction with them than Corlys has with his granddaughter (just saying).

But even when trying to circumvent Luke inheriting (both in Episode 07 and Episode 08), she makes her choices in a way that would minimize the damage to him and to his brothers and to Rhaenyra. I don't think that's insignificant.

And she always, publically and privately, calls them Laenor's sons. When Corlys speaks of being content with their grandchildren, she jumps to talk of "Jace, Luke and Joff." - they are her grandkids.

I could go on but I won't...

"About time you woke up. Thought you were dead." Daemon squints, the light sending a blinding pulse of pain directly between his eyes. He can barely lift his head, but he can see just enough to know he somehow made it into his own bed. His head is swimming, his mouth tastes like an ashtray, and he can tell by the way the sheets rub against him that he's completely naked. Beside him, slightly blurred, is Rhaenyra, wearing an undeniably smug grin. "How did I—" "Harwin poured you out of a cab around three a.m." Harwin. Right. Boys' night with Harwin and Laenor. "Fucking hells, I drank way too much," Daemon groans, shoving his face back into the pillows. "That's not all you did," Rhaenyra says cryptically. Daemon lifts his head, craning his neck to get another look at Rhaenyra. She's smiling broadly, pointing a finger vaguely in the direction of his back. That's when he's hit with a stinging surge of pain in his lower back. Oh shit. Oh fuck. "Don't worry, love. I took a photo. The ones you sent me were rather blurry." Rhaenyra holds up her phone, right in front of his face. He blinks a few times, praying that each one might resest his brain and reveal that he's just imagining it—but the tingling sensation tells him it's very much real. A tattoo, right about his ass, in large, curling script: Rhaenyra "Oh my god." "That's what I said," Rhaenyra says. Daemon groans. Pieces of the night return to him in flashes: doing that first shot, then another, then another. Several anothers later and they were at a strip club. Somewhere around their third bottle of Veuve Clicquot, Daemon became convinced that he simply must get a tattoo in honor of Rhaenyra. And Laenor and Harwin apparently did nothing to talk him out of it. "What I'd like to know," Rhaenyra says, unable to keep the giddiness from her voice. "Is where you got my signature from? It's a perfect likeness." That memory returns to him, too. A fragmented image of him waving a dinner receipt around like a lunatic. He sighs loudly. "I had a receipt in my wallet. From when we went to that Dornish restaurant. You paid." Rhaenyra laughs wickedly. "Oh, I can only imagine what it would have looked like had you not had a reference on hand." "I'm going to kill Harwin," Daemon mutters. Rhaenyra sinks down beside him, stroking him lightly along his spine, careful not to disturb his fresh ink. "Oh, come now. I rather like it." Daemon turns his head to the side to narrow his gaze at her. "You do not." "I do!" she insists, her eyes sparkling. "It's sweet. You love me so much you're willing to permanently disfigure yourself. Quite romantic, honestly." Daemon can't help but laugh. "Suppose I'll keep it, then." "Yes, you have to. How else will the whole world know that you're mine?" Daemon reaches out to cup Rhaenyra's face. His beautiful wife. He strokes her cheek, and her smile outshines any other thought or feeling rattling around in his head. "In that case, it's only fair..." he trails off, raising an eyebrow. "What?" "You'll just have to get one to match."

What would Baelons relationship be like with his family if he was in Silver and moonstone instead of Visenya considering he would be the heir and Aegon the spare and would he prefer his nephews or his brothers.

This got kind of long but if I missed anything you wanted, let me know :)

This is sort of a convoluted answer because if Baelon is heir and they’re in Westeros as we know it, I don’t think the Velaryon-Strong boys would exist.

Even if we say Rhaenyra still ends up betrothed to Laenor, I don’t think they’d actually end up married. Daemon at the time of the wedding would be in a much better place with Viserys because Baelon is alive: there’s no heir for the day, he never steals Baelon’s egg and posts up in Dragonstone, he doesn’t have the same initial anger for Viserys actively choosing Rhaenyra as heir over him. Rhaenyra, simultaneously, doesn’t have the same duties as she did as heir. There’s nothing really in it for her when marrying Laenor—she already knows he can’t love her like a husband—and she doesn’t really have a “position” she needs to secure.

So with all of these factors cut out of the way, Daemon just…doesn’t really have a reason not to take Nyra’s dare at the wedding. Viserys will be pissed, sure, but his brother running off with his daughter is still very different than his brother running off with the heir to the throne. He gets over it.

(The order of Baelon’s preference in this circumstance would go: Helaena, then a tie between Nyra and Daemon’s eldest three sons and Aemond, a tie between Maelor and Alyssa, the rest of Nyra’s kids, Daeron, Aegon.)

And even if she does marry Laenor, Rhaenyra’s not going to be in King’s Landing. She’s not heir. She has no reason to stay, and, unlike when she marries Daemon, her husband is heir to something. The expectation would be for her to go to Driftmark with Laenor. Harwin Strong wouldn’t be there to father her kids, and whatever (and whoever’s) kids she did end up having would grow up away from Baelon in Driftmark. Very much a “family member who likes your Facebook posts and you only see on Christmas” types vibes.

So the most accurate answer would be: Baelon prefers his brothers because the Velaryon-Strong boys do not exist.

But, we’re throwing all of that out of the window. Daemon didn’t just snatch Rhaenyra. She married Laenor and for some reason they stayed in King’s Landing and she has Harwin Strong’s babies.

(In this case, the preference goes: Helaena, Aemond, Joffrey, Jace and Luke, Daeron, Aegon)

Visenya loves the boys so much because they’re Nyra’s boys, and she sees them like her brothers. For a lot of her early years she avoids the Targtowers because of the weird tension between them and Nyra, and it means she spends most of that with them. A lot of it is entwined with Nyra and how she kind of sees her as a surrogate mother.

Rhaenyra is also the closest thing Baelon has to a mother, so the fundamental relationship is the same, but it’s more complicated because it’s Baelon. He has a lot of issues with losing Aemma and blaming himself about it, and it makes it hard for him to attach himself to any kind of mother figure.

And because there isn’t any weirdness with Rhaenyra and the Targtowers anyway (beyond the “your mom was my best friend/gay awakening and you were produced by her having sex with my father” of it all), he just doesn’t have reason to avoid them. He’s heir. They’re not. There’s nothing shaky about his claim.

He loves his nephews. He does. He’d do anything for them because they’re family and he loves his sister, he’d go to bat with anyone who called them bastards. But they aren’t really friends.

He and Jace and Luke aren’t really friends, but they have a kind of bond. Jace is very intensely family driven and duty bound, for the most part, and a lot of it comes from he and Luke feeling as if they have to kind of make up for being bastards. Baelon’s drive once he becomes king is entirely because he feels like he needs to make up for being the reason his mother died. They’re very different drives, but all three of them understand feeling like you have to meet a standard because of circumstances of birth out of your control. It makes him a lot more understanding towards them than his brothers are.

I think the age difference with him and Joffrey would make them not particularly close, but they both like dragons and fucking shit up so he’s probably his favorite nephew.

But, honestly, I think his relationship with the Green kids is the most interesting thing to think about.

Baelon loves Helaena. It is not possible to describe how much he likes having a little sister that is constantly making him catch spiders for her and going on rants about the mating rituals of beetles. He thinks she is the neatest thing to exist since people invented bread, and he would 100% murder absolutely any of the others for Helaena without any hesitation whatsoever. He calls her “butterfly” and he listens to her dreams, and every time Aegon messes with one of her collections as a joke he kicks him in the dick.

Baelon and Aemond would have the sort of relationship that is basically “i dream of murdering you dead but if anyone else touches you i am going to saute their pancreas and eat it in front of them”. Because there’s Aemond who likes to read and study, who wants to hear about Valyria, who daydreams about the Iron Throne because he thinks he is suited for it, and then there is Baelon. Who does and wants none of those things, and also he’s constantly a dick to Aemond’s mom because he has mommy issues and Alicent just does not have the ability to cultivate the “sister-friend-mom” concoction Laena manages in d&g. Throw all that together with Baelon just being a dick who has totally dangled Aemond off a staircase and glued his hand to his face while he slept and with Aemond just being a pompous little asshole who always thinks he’s right, and you get two dipshits who argue constantly and have broken each other’s noses four or five times each.

But also Baelon isn’t just going to let Aegon and the Strongs torment him about not having a dragon either. He remembers Visenya and he remembers Alyssa and how it twisted at them, and he’s not going to just let it skate by.

And most importantly, Baelon does not have the same “oh gods i don’t want to choose between them” as Visenya does on Driftmark. He’s with Aemond when he claims Vhagar just the same, and he is there for the fight just the same, but that’s where the similarities end. He’s older and bigger than all of them, and he will hit girls if necessary, so that shit gets put down well before the knife gets pulled.

He hits everyone mostly equally, including Aemond because he was very aggravated he picked up the rock, and everyone is bloody and bruised up but no one loses an eye. And without losing an eye, Aemond grows up way less angry and bitter.

They bicker! A lot! But they both like swordfighting and flying, and they love Helaena and talking shit about Aegon. Aemond remembers Baelon protecting him when they were kids. Baelon appreciates Aemond always looking out for Helaena. They love each other, and they both get annoyed when people tell them how much they look alike. It’s solid. Aemond is his favorite brother, he’d just rather die than admit it.

Baelon loves Daeron. But Daeron bores him. He’s too good. Daeron the Daring is just objectively one of the best people on team green or black (to be fair, when considering the others, this is not a high bar), and Baelon just doesn’t vibe with that! He has a very “morals are suggestions that can be bent to the left as needed” approach to life, which Daeron does not, and it makes their relationship very vaguely annoyed on both sides as Daeron gets older.

Baelon loves Aegon, but it’s to a point. He isn’t Visenya, who is willing to forgive him for all his bullshit just because they’re siblings. They fought a lot as kids and they fight a lot as adults. And once Aegon reaches a certain point of Fuck Around, Baelon lets him Find Out, and it’s always very volatile between them.

But how far that goes and a lot of his relationship with Aegon also depends on Aegon’s relationship with Helaena. There are two really solid interpretations of their relationship with what we have seen of the show so far, which is a) Aegon’s a piece of shit to everyone, including Helaena, but SA is turned to people outside of Helaena only or b) Aegon has SA’d Helaena.

Option A:

Baelon is eventually going to get pissed enough to send Aegon to the Wall, assuming he becomes king (whether or not the hightowers attempt to have him killed is debatable, as is whether they’d succeed). This is because 1) rapers go to the Wall, so he’s sending the raper to the Wall 2) he does not care enough about any of the people Aegon has hurt directly to do anything else.

He’s not going to make himself a kinslayer or mutilate his brother for some lady he doesn’t know. Baelon thinks women are on the same level as men, but the problem with that is he doesn’t really care about men that much either. He is largely apathetic to people as individuals, even though he wants to make things better for them as a whole. He’ll do what he can to help her because he is horrified by Aegon’s actions, but unhinged Baelon is not going to be surging out to commit acts of vengeance on behalf of the girl Aegon SA’d.

Option B:

Baelon cuts off Aegon’s dick and feeds it to him, after which there is no possible way to recover the relationship, and then he either sends him to the wall or kills him. Most likely kills him.

Both of these things would cause a lot of tension with the Hightowers, but like. What’s a Targaryen’s reign without a little kinslaying and provoking people who already wanted you to die?
