“that’s okay,” she scoffs, waving off the host’s concern. “we live pretty close by, so lily and oscar are always at our place anyway.”

she’s not shocked that people talk about their relationship, but more shocked that everyone seems to shrug it off as them being really good friends.

“we’re actually not romantically involved at all,” she lies, though her cheeks flush up at the thought of her boyfriend. “i think we met really early on in life so we’re super comfortable with each other.”

You knew you’d catch the attention of the kings after Satan, but you weren’t to interested in befriending them, you had 72 to go through before you could go home. So of course you want to be fast!

However, Leviathan didn’t allow you to slip by so easily, even dragging you to stay in Hades for a while, while Satan rested you were left with Leviathan. He eyed you constantly, keeping way to close to you in attempts to divert your attention to him, though he seemed to not even know what to do once he had your attention.

He was handsome, you did find him attractive, but you assumed he only wanted a fling, or someone he could dominate to boost his own ego, so once he started making advances, you didn’t outright say ‘no’ but avoided them.

When he reached to wrap an arm around you? You just so happened to walk to the side.

He tries to sneak a kiss? You notice a demon or object that has your attention and turn away from him.

Leviathan was beyond frustrated, and as fun as it was to leave him wallowing over a human avoiding his touch, he started hanging random devils for getting ‘too rowdy/handsy’ with you. He hung Barbatos for helping you up after you tripped!

You wanted to yell at him, but decided, it would feed into his attitude so you decided to upset him with someone he cant hurt. At least not as easily.

You had Satan come over to your ‘room’ (that Leviathan welcomed himself into.) and layed in bed next to you. You could feel Leviathan glaring you both down and as you chatted with Satan, at one point you two are shoved apart and Leviathan pushes himself between you. (Almost pushing Satan off the bed.)

“Watch it.” Satan growled, shoving Leviathan a bit. Leviathan growled back and you can see very quickly that Leviathan is ready to escalate things so you decide to step in.

You grab Leviathan by his horns and pull him back towards you, making him awkwardly flop on the bed. “Leviathan, don’t be a pain in the ass, would giving you be good if I give you…a half hour of undivided attention?”

His eyes lit up at that and you can see a grin spread across his face. “Oh? You’d like to be with me alone for that long? What do you have in mind?” You can see a light brush spread across his face.

You hear Satan laugh before he’s interrupting. “Leviathan you sound desperate!” Satan got up without you needing to tell him. “See you when you don’t have a needy demon wrapped around you.”

He waltzed away while you held Leviathan by the horn to prevent him from scrambling after Satan. “Don’t walk away!” Leviathan hissed out. “Let go, I’m going to kill him-“ You pinched his horn tip and he visibly jumped, whimpering at the overwhelming sensation.

Satan grinned but left, leaving the door unlocked likely in case you needed help. Or something. You watch Leviathan adjust beside you feeling his horns like you might have bent one.

To me, Husk is almost insecure about his feelings.

He likes to keep things real and genuine, done get me wrong, but he’s constantly listening to other people’s drama and thoughts.

He’s a good source of comfort for the hotel guests, including you. Someone who will listen to you without judgement.

I think how he starts falling for you has to do with this. You’d stay up late nights with Husk while he closes the bar, often times turning the tables on him.

Asking him how he’s doing, what he did throughout the day, even something as simple as asking fun facts about him

Your guys’ game of 20 questions became a norm every night. Slowly you creeped over the walls Husk had put around himself. Something Husk didn’t realize you had done until it was far too late.

The warm feeling he gets in his chest after your guys’ interactions wells up into butterflies in his gut. It doesn’t take long for him to get feelings for you when you were always nothing short of perfect in his eyes.

Since he’s one to usually keep his feelings to himself, he tries to hide this from you and the other attendees of the hotel.

But once he actually realizes he has a crush on you, oh buddy, is he OBVIOUS.

His calm and cool demeanor shifting into anxiety whenever anyone brings the topic of you up or even dares to ask if you two are an item.

It doesn’t help that Alastor can read him like a book after many years of owning Husk’s soul.

Even so, Husk can’t help the way his voice and demeanor soften whenever interacting with you.

I can definitely see Angel noticing this next and making a SCENE about it. He didn’t mean to embarrass his friend, but he can’t help poking fun.

(Also, Angel was mildly upset that Husk hadn’t just told him about his feelings towards you. Angel would be the best wingman.)

Angel does try to set the two of you up frequently, trying to nudge you guys to make things official.

Except one teensy weensy issue.

You completely misunderstood Husk’s advancements towards you as friendly banter.

Confusing your own interest towards him as simple excitement to hang out with him.

Angel and Alastor find this hilarious

Both of them are able to openly tease Husk around you while you have no clue what they’re insinuating.

They just watch Husk panic as they outright call him out on his crush. While you just stare at them confused as if they’re telling an inside joke.

It drives Husk bonkers how you don’t seem to catch on to his flirting or feelings for you.

He honestly doesn’t know what was worst, you not realizing his feelings, or the fact you responded to his advances so nonchalantly.

Can you imagine Husk gets the courage to hold your hand or something, and you’re just like

‘Oh this is a thing now! Alright anyways-.’

And just move on as if nothing happened/changed.

He even asks you out on dates occasionally, but instead of it turning out as alone time, you end up inviting other hotel members.

And he just can’t say no to you so he’s left with joining a group dinner, with apologetic looks from Angel and amused grins from Alastor.

When Husks asks for it to just be the two of you, you assume he’s in an argument with the other hotel attendees.

“Oh are you in an argument with Angel right now? What happened?”

“Is Alastor pissing you off? I can talk to Charlie about it! She’ll get it handled.”

It drives Husk NUTS. Every innocent move you make leaves him even more flustered.

The fact that you don’t even seem phased by it leaves him feeling frustrated and kind of rejected.

Which was never your intent! You just didn’t understand your feelings for the ex overlord and his towards you.

You were in Angel’s hotel room. He was picking out an outfit for you, throwing you in all different kinds of combinations. Different dresses with different styles, cute skirts and tops, jumpsuits, you name it. You enjoyed the little game of dress up he was playing with you, but you weren’t sure the exact reasoning for suddenly using you as a model.

“Okay okay, this one is so cute.” You walk out of Angel’s bathroom, a huge grin on your face. Angel looks over towards you, wolf whistling as he looks you up and down.

You were dolled up in a burnt orange dress that was bedazzled in rhinestones. The shiny stones making diamond patterns along the dress. It had puffy sleeves made of tool that fell off your shoulders. The dress hugged your waist and the skirt flowed out, reaching just past your knee.

You look at yourself in the full length mirror, doing a little spin to see yourself in full view. Angel approached you, making sure the zipper on the back of the dress was all the way up and secure.

“You look hot, toots! The color really suits you.” Angel compliment while you ruffled your hair to give it more volume. You giggle at his compliment, continuing to admire yourself in the mirror.

There was a timid knock on Angel’s door, making the spider demon grin and turn on his heel. You kept admiring your outfit in the mirror while Angel answered the knock.

“Right on time!” Angel said as he opened the door. You look in the mirror to see who was at the door behind you. Husk was there, grumbling a bit at Angel’s enthusiasm.

Your smile brightened, turning to look over at Husk. Once he got full view of you in that dress, he froze, his face flushing dark hues of magenta. Husk was also dressed nicely, more put together than usual. His hat not on its usually place between his ears, his hair done up nice, a burnt orange bow tie complimenting a new grey suit he was wearing.

“Hey, look, we match!” You exclaim, grinning ear to ear. Angel sighed while Husk blinked out of his tiny daydream.

“I- uh.. looks like we do.” Husk muttered, his embarrassment getting the better of him. You both stayed quiet for a bit, the anticipation absolutely killing Angel. After what felt like ages of silence, Angel went over to you, nudging you towards Husk.

“Ahem, (Y/N), Husk here was actually wondering if you would accompany him tonight. There’s this new place that he’s been dying to try. It’s got some real fancy food!” Angel gave Husk a look as he tried to get the ball rolling. Husk only blushed and looked towards you to see how you reacted to his- well Angel’s- proposal.

“Ooo! Sounds great! I’d love to. Are you coming too?” You questioned. The ask made Husk die a little inside.

“No, nope. I’ve got some uh..things to attend to! So just the two of you. A date, you could call it.” Angel clarified, giving a not so subtle wink towards Husk, who returned it with a glare.

You feel your face heat up and for some reason your heart seems to skip a beat. Just you and Husk? There was nothing wrong with that. But the idea excited you nonetheless. Now that you thought about it, it was rare you and Husk got time alone outside the hotel. Sure he had suggested going out often. But not on.. a date as Angel had suggested.

You smile, moving to link your arm with Husk’s, “Yeah! That sounds great actually.”

Husk looks surprised at your reaction, he was halfway expecting you to suggest inviting anyone else to the outing. He can’t help the grin that forms on his face.

“Well then.. let’s get out of here.” Husk says, guiding you out of Angel’s room. As the two of you are walking down the hallways, Angel calls out to the both of you.

“Have fun, lovebirds! Husk, don’t ruin that dress, it was expensive!” Angel shouts, making Husk flip him off, grumbling a bit.

“Are we eating messy food? I can change-..” You start, but Husk cuts you off.

I wrote a short retelling of the ending spoilers for a discord server I'm in. And. Oh☹️ they changed how it was portraited. Of course they would☹️

They already changed how Lloyd would view his death– which, by the way, was seriously more tragic when he could FEEL himself die– to it just him being an outsider that can't feel or interact with anything

Novel Javier was holding back tears, trying to comfort Lloyd by telling him to Cheer Up, the doctor will be here soon, he even gave his heart a massage using mana vs Webtoon Javier with tears and sweat rolling down his face trying desperately to prolong Lloyd's life with a mana transfer

Idk the novel scene genuinely made me sad meanwhile the webtoon just made me go 0-0 ohh that cant be good. but. thats it

Novel Lloyd who arrived at his own conclusion after Javier told him that the hole they dug to throw away all the excreements from the refugees was full even though it wasn't too long ago that they dug it out

Novel Lloyd, who, even in his deathbed, was still trying to comfort Javier by squeezing the hand that was holding him with all the strength he got left vs "Javier... That's enough... It's no use... and you know it... Live on... and burn them..." then promptly passes away

"Cheer up a little. Please. Lloyd-nim. Just hang in there. The doctor will be here soon." vs "You are... the protector of my second home... and a hero to the thousands of refugees you saved. That... is what the world will know you as."

Like. I don't know why this actually irritates me☹️

not only did they completely changed the way lloyd experiences the ending spoilers but y'know what infuriates me the most about this particular spoiler? the way they had lloyd see a good chunk of time after he's already dead. like!! no!!!! one of the most impactful things about the ending spoilers is how fast and abrupt and brutal they are!!

later on lloyd has to carefully time his death to make sure his past self gets to hear and see all the he needs! he can't make it too long lest his word not be included in the spoiler! because the spoilers always end the moment he dies and not a moment later! he gets to experience excruciating death and then the abrupt shock of being thrown back to his own time!

in the webtoon not only does he not get to feel himself die with every spoiler, in episode 70 he even gets to see javier prep his body and burn it along with everyone else's. like. that would've been an insane amount of time compared to the few minutes at best he gets in the novel!

and it's such a cheat to have lloyd leave himself a message at this point of the story! that isn't supposed to happen until the fourth spoiler! you see the progression of lloyd slowly learning to leave more and more clues at the time of his death to the point where by the fifth spoiler he's just outright talking to himself. not like the webtoon that has him leave a message already by the second spoiler :P

and like not to repeat back at you everything but. god. the way they completely changed javier's words,,,, like. not even close to what they were supposed to be...

"You can't... You can't leave me so soon." Javier's voice dripped with sadness and anxiety. Lloyd felt his hand being grabbed. Javier was trembling. This guy. Is he sad because I'm about to die? Lloyd guessed that his teasing friendship with Javier lasted as they grew old together. "Just hold on a little more. Please.” Javier spoke, almost pleading.

the 'you can't leave me so soon' of it all,,,,, why would they completely erase that,,,,,

novel javier is just... softer? the whole scene? instead of the frantic desperation we see in the webtoon, in the novel he's just,,, begging lloyd to hold on just a little longer, just wait for the doctor to arrive, almost keeping lloyd's heart beating himself

Lloyd suddenly felt Javier's grip tighten. At the same time, warm and clean energy flowed into his body. It was mana. Emergency treatment? Lloyd was right about it. Javier was sending his mana to Lloyd, and it traveled from his hand through the elbow to reach his chest, expanding its range at every beat and driving away the murky energy in his system. At the same time, it continuously pressed on his heart. Lloyd realized what Javier was doing. He's massaging my heart. It appeared as though this future Lloyd would draw his last breath anytime soon. Javier was striving hard to extend his life at all costs. Lloyd's heart ached as he noticed how desperate Javier was. "Master Lloyd. Please bear a little more. The physician will be here soon."

it's a different tone, a different kind of desperation if that makes sense

but overall i completely get your irritation nonnie i do have a lot of grievances with the webtoon when it comes to how they're choosing to adapt the ending spoilers so. i get you 〒▽〒

idk if this is a hot take, lmao i think the presidential elections arc were kinda mid in retrospect (this one is kinda hard to discuss because of yknow) but like, at the time it was ok it was enjoyable and there were some good additions to the server because of the end result, but like idk the election debates themselves weren't really fun for me to watch because theres a lot of yelling and ofc irl political theories and influences got roped in because thats just kinda what happens, and thus people there also fought abt it, also like half the candidates say outright they hate the federation and are running for president to WORK with teh federation so like that's not going to go great so idk what was going on, its weird because dsmp elections i liked but ig at the time theyre weren't taken as much seriously, and the stakes in the elections were not focused on politcal bureaucratic gains and more of personal stakes for a nation itself. idk when i look back at the elections and try to watch back then in 2023, even from gegg perspective i only could stand to rewatch the dinner and everyone hanging out, the actual presidential debates i couldnt BEAR at all. also elq wtf were you going to do with charlie please explain

also i dont understand why doied exists like the only other precursor to that is abuleoier somehow on the island and also having a past with being in prison adn such, but like i was so confused when he appeared like what. i love roier's lore i loved the tape streams, i just wish there was more prep to that, the namemc spoilering and the messages were really clever but i wanted at least SOME hints before doied jsut.... appeared.

AND ALSO I WILL SAY THIS, QSLIME WAS AT LEAST A GOOD ENOUGH FATHER TO FLIPPA, MAYBE NOT A GREAT INFLUENCE, he wasn't the best at first is the thing, like yes he did instigate fights and cause a bit of an unstable household because of his very temperamental attitude but when nearing the later parts, he learned the swing of things of being a good enough parent, like he paid attention to flippa's needs, the difficult part of it was communication because at the time they couldnt communicate without the preset signs, instead of the free use of jsut text, it was only later she started using sign for slime, she did with mariana but not yet charlie as much at that point, plus i think there were some issues of flippa understanding charlie just generally (which is fair even i dont understand him), ITS THE THING OF LIKE, he kinda was fumbling at first but flippa genuinely was happy and taken care of by both parents. its was unfortunate that was cut short because of the thing. most part is jsut a bad influence in terms of being selfish and possibly spreading that to flippa but honestly i wish she stuck aroudn logner so i could see that happen GOD;;;; it frustrates me because qslime's path to being a good parent IS RIGHT THERE but when trying to try again he's scared of fuckign up liek everyone tells him and liek that reminder of his mistakes isnt helping him in the slightest to actually trying again, GOD GOD:;;;;

ok i like the theory that the federation made the codes in teh first place and then tried to cover up but they came back to get the islanders out any which way they can, then leading to my theory that codeflippa was a real egg at one point because of how the resistance describe her in that one report, not a faulty vode but a faulty egg , so i have reason to beieve she was an egg merged with a code in order to have a stable form the way she is. also that theory that at some point the eye guy started to corrupt codes themselves which is why some codes went rogue against orders from the resistance.

uhhhhh least favourite, idk i dont have any theories i dont like much, mostly because they are kinda convincing, i think i saw maybe a theory abt ll the islanders were experiments from the federation, maybe some select few have fistory but i dont think ALL of them

hey i could use some advice if its okay (also sorry if this is vaguely venty i am, very upset right now) i'm having a hard time regulating my emotions regarding my friend of 5 years, she's a good friend and we've been through a lot of ups and downs but nothing that we couldnt eventually figure out a way through lately. like the past year or so i've felt like i mean nothing to her and like i'm just a second option to pass the time. it first became a problem when her boyfriend who was abusive and her got into an argument over me (he thought me playing minecraft with her was abusive /srs) and she literally tried breaking off 5 years of friendship, not cause he asked but to appease him just in case it'd make him happy. obviously it didnt end up working but it hurt and it still really does hurt after that, while with her bf she started fawning over a girl and thats all she'd talk to me about sometimes, every day its either the girl or her bf. either its venting or gushing either way day in day out i was there to listen and it felt like i just straight up didnt matter anymore cause it was always about them and how she desperately wanted to be talking to them as if i wasnt even there or something then finally she broke up w her bf, and i thought woo no more of that but she immedietely got with another guy who even says he doesnt wanna date her, only wants to use her body and rarely if ever texts her back, yet recently she threw $50 just to try and get him to reply all the while constantly yapping at me how much she'd rather talk to him. every few months its someone new and i become obsolete, she'd rather talk to them and cancels plans just to talk to them instead of me. i've started trying harder in our friendship, always letting her vent always accepting hang out invites always replying to texts always encouraging her interests. outright buying her things to try and help fill the void she might be trying to fill. but nothing works she's always more excited for someone else. not that i have to be a priority of course i understand that but it feels like i've never been a priority, i'm not even 2nd or 3rd place and i feel awful and it hurts. plus another thing she never listens to me despite saying that i do seem to know whats best, i try to be there for her and give her advice when she asks then she turns around and takes what she admits is worse advice from one of the other people she fawns over just because she likes them better. i don't think i matter anymore (or ever did) and i don't know how to regulate or deal with that, i don't wanna accidently lash out at her but i don't know how to get past this. i've been ignoring her more frequently (i know its not good but i cant bring myself to text her i know i'll scream if i do) and she doesnt even really initate conversation, if she does its about one of the people as usual. which just makes it hurt more and make me wanna scream and lash out even more. i'm probably overreacting so if you have any advice i'd really appreciate it, thank you for your time

I'm sure my advice isn't what you want to hear, but my advice is that she is not a friend for you and you should end the friendship. Of course, you can always try communicating to her and seeing if she changes her behaviour, but I also worry that she'll tell you what you want to hear and continue this anyways. It's not to say maybe she genuinely is open to changing, but it sounds like she isn't in a place to be a good friend to you.

You deserve to have a friend who treats you the way you deserve to be treated. Being ready to dismiss you like she has isn't a sign of a good friend. It also sounds like she takes you for granted.

You matter and you deserve friends who value you. You are not overreacting at all.

(Also, while it's reality that we tend to "prefer talking to someone" over someone else at times, or stuff like that, that isn't okay to say to you. )

You say she is a "good friend" and maybe she is in some ways. But from this ask, it feels to me that she isn't in a place herself where she is capable of giving you the friendship you deserve. It sounds like she has a lot of personal work and healing to do. When I say my advice is to "end the friendship" it doesn't mean it has to be permanent. But you deserve to be treated better, and if you aren't in a place to "end" it, you can definitely take a break from it.

If you aren't in a place to do that, then please start thinking about your boundaries and putting up boundaries with her. You deserve to be treated better.

Darius in a Coffeeshop AU? Why, yes. And no. And also, Miguel.

So @theynanigans has a lot of the octopath characters in their sims game. and they have Darius and Miguel married. And Miguel is a criminal. and Darius is a barista. And it was hilarious.

And then this was born, less than 24 hours later.

Rated M, if i ever actually write it, but i wont get into much M parts here. also tw for abuse, violence, smoking, drugs, death, and terrible customers.

ok so it goes something like this:

Darius has been out of jail, but not for long, and has a job as a barista

he gets this problematic regular at his shift that drinks half their coffee order then comes to the front and is like "i ordered hot coffee this is scalding"

and darius cannot win. if he says no, the manager yells. if he says yes, the manager yells

that day however he's saved by the customer behind the asshole who essentially calls them out and tells them to F off

Darius is grateful, becuase he was ready to explode and he would have 100% lost his job

it's miguel. they flirt. Darius thinks it over quick and figures sure, yeah, he can be perceptive of it

especially when miguel asks to buy him a coffee

he figures he might as well tell him when he gets off and sees where it goes from there

(darius works opening or morning shifts and h a t e s it)

Miguel goes and gets him coffee from a very fancy place, greets him with it as soon as he steps out of the shop

darius is very pleased

and so it goes

coffee, hang out and chat, get to know each other

he likes miguel, he realizes. he cant use him, but he gets him fancy coffee and it is practically a reason to live right now

(and he realizes the store he works at sells really shitty coffee)

they both have a similar sense of humor and when darius casually drops the "cant go there, it violates my probation" in a conversation, migeul doenst bat an eye

instead the next day he brings the food they were talking about and outright says "this is a date now"

darius find himself oddly charmed, especially since this guy will buy him whatever, but at the same time

"fine, what's your angle? you can afford great coffee. There's no way you hang out here for the coffee"

"i saw you through the window, you were hot, and i wanna get in your pants" is the reply

darius laughs

he agrees

and they wind up as… something

darius gets coffee and fraps and a reason to look forward to the end of the shift and he cant complain much

anyways, enter erhardt, the probation officer. darius has to give an update. erhard is too smart for anyone's good. he kinda figures out miguel is trouble with a capital T and tells Darius that he's risking his probation like this and to break it off

darius hates this but also he doesnt want to go back to jail

he hates that place

its the whole reason hes trying to do better

it doesn't help that jail reminds him of before, when his old gang left him for dead after therion humiliated him

he still doesn't know who called the ambulance but he didn't want to die. doesn't want to die. doesn't want to go back to jail

so he texts miguel tells him not to come back

and miguel is "fine sure, text me when you snap"

darius lasts one week. one

the problematic regular is a lot harder to deal with, without something to look forward to, and in the end he explodes on them, calls htem names. the manager comes out ot try and save face but he yells at the manager too. a huge fight in the middle of the store. gets fired. throws his apron at the manager and storms off

erhardt is on his face before he reaches home. he gets an earful and he is so pissed.

he walks right out of where his "area bundaries" for the probation is

gets himself fancy coffee

realizes that its expensive af, how did miguel afford it?

then sits down on a bench and figures out how hes gonna text miguel

becuase he cant say "i got fired" that sounds so weak

so instead he makes a demand "get alcohol and meet me at my place"

miguel just replies with a winky face

anyways theyre on each other as soon as miguel steps into his place

it is a wild few hours because darius has no fucks to give that day

which makes him also speak up as miguel is gathering his things to leave

"what's your angle? you can afford so much shit. you have a motorcycle. you're not even mad i ghosted you a week."

Miguel just shrugs "you're hot"

"cant be it." Darius sits up, studies him. "You're recruiting."

miguel smiles like the devil and so help him, darius likes it

"drugs?" "no." "fraud?" "no"

he keeps guessing, much to miguel's amusement, until miguel fesses up

arms dealer

darius just flops back down in bed "i dont do well with weapons"

"yeah, your probation officer would hate it"

"no, i'll shoot someone as soon as they annoy me"

miguel laughs "i wouldnt have you working with the weapons. shipping, moving things around. that kind of thing"

"does it pay better than a barista and do i have to put up with idiots" "you'd be part of the idiot crew" exaggerated sigh "just great"

"so, gonna tattle on me?" "no. fuck erhardt" "id rather you fuck me" uproarious laughter

"so how do i sign up?" "you sure you want to? you said you were in for theft and i havent seen you steal anything."

deep, exaggerated sigh, "top left drawer"

and miguel is just !!!??? those are all my things??

(im thinking miguel smokes and darius steals his lighters every time)

a very smug "yep" a very impressed "i'll be damned"

anyways. a week later, after erhardt has said his pieces, so he has no reason to suspect darius is up to anything, darius packs a bag, leaves his phone behind after he deletes miguel's contact info and all of their conversations, and heads out

he crashes in on miguel's couch in a very impressive apartment

(i dont think it needs to be told he didnt actually ever sleep on the couch wink wink nudge nudge)

it takes him a week to get into the business. another to get the hang of it

three to go from "one of the idiots" to "in charge of the idiots, because he keeps you guys moving"

another three to have enough money to move out

and another 6 to be directly under miguel's rank

and 3 days to decide that maybe miguel has outlived his usefulness and maybe darius can go over his head

but miguel's phone is password protected and darius tries to snoop a few times

but he gets caught quickly

miguel laughs at his attempts. "i had a feeling, after all"

darius decides, shit, fight time. but miguel is stronger, which isnt a surprise

the surprise is how fast miguel is

darius wonders if he's gotten weaker. hes scared. and miguel looks downright dangerous

but miguel pins him to the wall after a well placed punch and laughs at him

"i know your type" he says "the ones who act tough because they're terrified"

"too scared to rely on anyone or be vulnerable. just use people and then get rid of them. i know you."

darius tries to protest, but miguel kisses him quiet "now shut up and listen. we dont have to be nice. we dont have to be romantic-like. we dont even have to be friends. but there's a line. you dont cross that line. if you do, i kill you. you got it? so you do your job, i do mine, and this?" he presses close "can be here or not. it's whatever."

"got it?" he asks when darius doesnt answer. and darius is scared. terrified. because this is a dangerous man

and he thinks, i wonder if gareth was this scared of me and i wish therion was here, because he'd force him to back off

but ultimately, he nods

miguel moves away and tells him to go clean his face and fuck off

and darius leaves, dizzy with a lot of thoughts

and he keeps thinking, everyone was scared of him, but gareth cared. and he did worse. and gareth and therion both came back, until they didnt.

and he thinks he's terrified. but its a good job. better than the bs erhardt had put him through

and he thinks but the sex is good and he buys me coffee

and he wonders, if that's why they kept coming back

and he wonders, if thats why he goes back an hour later to miguel's and falls into bed with him

he resolves to try again. slowly. take his time. in the meantime, he can enjoy this

he would get his revenge

he resolves to that, while it crumbles

because he has a good position. the people who work under him dont care about him, but theyre scared of him and terrified of miguel

and after that initial fight, miguel is practically back to normal, though a bit more guarded about the trade secrets

and its good. he lives in a decent place and can afford nice things and its better than he's had it.

he keeps this up and he can retire early

and it is good. and he likes it and he hates it. he doenst want to be under anyone.

but it lasts. and it doesnt last

because that's how darius' life is. nothing good lasts for him

therion didnt last. gareth didnt last. the gang didnt last. so of course this doesnt last.

miguel comes to him one night. hes bleeding everywhere

he laughs at darius' shock. "we got set up"

darius looks at him and say "we have to get you to a hospital"

"no, they're looking everywhere for us"

so darius tries his best. he is not a doctor or a medic or any good at anything

and miguel is not doing good. hes doing bad.

he has to go to a hospital

but theyll both go to jail

darius never wants to go to jail again

but miguel will die

and he tells himself he doenst care. its fine. he can take his place.

but miguel is getting worse and worse and darius just cant handle it

so he leaves their phones and wallets behind after he calls a taxi and forces the poor driver to take them to the hospital

and when asked for an address, he puts his old address

because the new one is too incriminating

and he waits

and waits

and he doesnt leave the waiting room

its hours later, the er is moving slow, but the treatment is a success

but whatever they gave miguel to keep him down did not

the man is disoriented and cant feel any pain and he is freaked out because no hospitals

he punches a doctor, grabs a scalpel, takes a kid as a hostage

darius hears the commotion, hears miguel yelling, and goes in

he yells at Miguel, tells him to put the kid down, tells him to take him hostage. and miguel is listening, because he knows darius, because he's disoriented and scared and he knows darius

and darius is getting him to calm down, and miguel lets go of the kid, and then the security guard shoots him

(im going off america and yes, security guards would have guns)

there's screams, people rushing around. many people run to the kid. darius runs to miguel

miguel sees clearly, past the pain, he looks at the very horrified darius with a smile, like he's seeing him for the first time in his life reaches a hand to cup his cheek

then passes out

doctors and nurses take miguel away. darius is pushed back out to the waiting room. he sits in a chair, all bloody, and waits

but erhardt is there. he gives him paper towels to clean up.

"I'm not leaving" "you are" "No I'm not, not until i hear news about Miguel" "I told you he was trouble" "fuck you. I'm not leaving." "fine then," erhardt says and sits beside him

its not long after that a doctor comes out

black hair, silver stripe, deep frown. "anyone here for a Miguel?"

darius bolts to his feet and to the doctor

"I'm sorry," the doctor says

Darius roars. all he sees is fury, rage, hurt. he moves to pounce on the doctor but Erhardt pins him to the wall and cuffs him

he wont stop struggling, wont calm down, even as he's dragged out and shoved into the back of a police car

and then the car drives off and he's still yelling every expletive he knows. until he runs out of words and cries

and he remembers, he hasnt cried since he got stabbed and left for dead. and he remembers, he hasnt cried since he ran away from home.

and he wonders if he made Therion cry. if he made gareth cry

and he thinks of the way miguel looked at him after he was shot. and he wonders what miguel was thinking. and he feebly wishes its the same thing he was thinking

I just fucking watched Julie and the Phantoms for the first time finally after just seeing memes/fanfics/posts and the entire soundtrack for it and I'm

I can't believe that show exists like it is so unbelievable how good it is I WILL go into detail rn -

So ofc I can't remember everything that happened, I was busy holding back tears, shouting fuck you at the tv, singing, and quoting fucking everything

and I mean I did happily yell gay when Willex appeared I love them (and when Reggie and Luke did anything I mean cmon) but I DID start up the show again to go through as I write this

the dahlias were a beautiful addition to the sets and I- THE RANDOM LADY gives Julie one when she's crying for her mom in the Orpheum alley??? PLEASE THAT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL

getting ahead of myself and very out of order ok ok BUT having all the context for the show really gives me a new perspective like

everyone is hurting so much and I could only fully grasp it now after seeing it and I mean 9 episodes did A LOT

everyone has noticed it before but Luke's missing person poster literally behind him as they eat the hot dogs is like?? the set designers were ON TOP OF IT and I love this little detail so much makes me freak every time because the attention to even the SMALLEST detail and it gave us some insight into Luke if we noticed

and do NOT get me started on the fucking ACTING everyone is so good at all of it, like how Madison portrayed Julie being just broken over her mom and Charlie going from loud to insanely soft and quiet as he says "I am… so sorry" and Jeremy being good ol' happy Reggie until the FUCKING "You guys are the only family I have" LINE and the Willex interactions are amazing Owen and Booboo were great together I could go on huyvyibh

And the show outright saying yes, Alex is gay was so mindblowing to me like I don't think I have EVER seen a show do that (but I could be living under a rock) and when the boys tell Julie to give Luke a chance and they watch him as he watches his PARENTS on his BIRTHDAY it was so fucking painful and then THEN Unsaid Emily.

but like what it could be like for Bobby? he goes to a therapist still so he might not be over losing his boys still and just him completely taken aback that they're back? he can SEE them and they're playing music with what is basically his niece? how he's shaking after the Orpheum because he has actually seen his boys again after YEARS of them gone? now I understand why they're mad at him but it could have been Bobby's way of coping with losing all of his band and quite possibly the closest friends/family he has ever had

it hurt when they would jump to the boys at the club and then back to Julie alone at the dance, and when they did show up and found her just devastated that they left her hanging hurts SO MUCH worse, like she completely thought they'd show and they didn't and she said it was a MISTAKE god I cant

and now I'm circling back, having the context for Unsaid Emily is both amazingly beautiful and devastatingly soul crushing, all Luke EVER wanted was to connect with people through his music and show his parents that he COULD and CAN make it and PLEASE the music for this show was fucking amazing

and I am foaming at the mouth over Julie giving the Pattersons Unsaid Emily and Luke having to step out but INSTRUMENTAL UNSAID EMILY IN THE BACKGROUND I CAN'T BELIEVE I WAS NOT IN TEARS BAWLING AND SCREAMING

But in all, Julie and the Phantoms was such an amazing show. Kenny Ortega and Paul Becker and literally EVERYONE on staff did a wonderful job with this show. It has helped millions of people through different problems and gave joy back to those who might have needed it. JatP was literally gold and I don't think anything will be able to even come CLOSE to matching it for a long time, if not ever. That may be a bold statement, but the show was canceled and we're all still here, hoping and waiting for this beautiful masterpiece to come back.

I hate that JatP was canceled and I'm so utterly destroyed that these boys, Ray, Julie, Carlos, and everyone else might never come back. But what I can say is that I got to watch this little piece of Heaven and I am so glad I did. I ranted and I raved about all the little things I liked in this, and I definitely didn't point out everything I liked, but this post summed it up pretty well I think.

I don't think I will ever feel this strongly for something ever again. After seeing so much content for JatP and finally seeing it after months of wanting to, the hype and how I thought I would see this show lived up to the real thing.

consider this post-reveal cmar scenario: donnie keeps in good contact with her sisters, though they're generally only able to visit every few years. their usual visit comes along and they all coo over the adorable new baby and how big and strong little tala is growing!! and of course there's the traditional cheek pinching and "look at how much taller you've gotten!" for raz, frazie, and dion as well.

the day goes on. dona catches up with her sisters, they catch up with her and augustus. nona chats with them. they all coo over their nephews and nieces. usual family reunion stuff.

except, as the day goes on, dona's sisters notice something... off with how dona & augustus are acting in regards to their eldest. funny, miriam comments, given how dion was all over trying to help with mirtala last we visited, i'd have expected him to be just as eager to help with queepie. weird, juliette agrees, and i could have sworn dion was dona's pride and joy last time, too, she adds. did something happen, audrey wonders, to create this awkward distance?

the two families have dinner together that night, in a circle around the fire, dion sitting back further than she should. her aunts take notice, just as they've been noticing the awkwardness hanging over the entire family, like something doesn't fit. they confront their sister over it, moreso trying to figure out what's happening than outright accusing donatella of anything. but dona's story about the curse lurking in her eldest just doesn't seem quite believable.

it all comes out when dion, feeling caught in the middle of things, feeling like it's her fault that her mom and aunts are fighting, splashes right then and there from the stress.

...well. dona wasn't lying.

dion reforms, and scoots further away from the fire. shame is written across his face. dona & augustus don't yell, but they don't move to comfort their child, either. they don't do anything but look at dion with fear in their eyes and forlorn expressions on their faces.

so donnie's sisters make an offer. they're not beholden to the curse, miriam says, and this isn't an environment in which you're going to thrive, juliette adds. so you can come with one of us if you want, audrey offers. ...so long as donnie and augustus have no problems with it, miriam hastens to add.

and for all that they fear the curse, donatella and augustus still love their son. still want to see her grow strong and thrive and be okay and happy. so if dion wants to go with one of her aunts, they'll let her, they say. we don't want to keep you trapped here, they add. there is fear in their eyes and a tremble in their voices and love in their hearts.

but... dion doesn't want to leave their family for their aunts. even if it would be better. and some part of dion views this as selfish, but the rest of them moves their mouth to say no.

donnie's sisters stick around as long as they can, making sure to give dion all of the attention that his parents can't (won't). but the aquatos have to move on, eventually, and so do dona's sisters. they give dion their numbers, tell her that if she ever considers their offer, they'll be there.

years and years down the line, while a tired office-bound agent of the psychonauts recounts the damages that dion caused as The Storm, she wonders if maybe she should have taken her aunts' offer to go with them. if she hadn't lost their numbers, if she had found them before the deluginists found her, if if if.

but ifs don't heal a broken heart.

Ah, Luis. People either call him a simp, or they like him. I personally have come to the conclusion that if he wasn’t in love with Vanessa, he would’ve saved everyone a LOT of…problems.

I do want to know why Luis was moved, though. Maybe the writers thought he would be too close too Vanessa. (“Apparently, the IT department has put together a pretty lengthy report chronicling non-job-related communications that have been coming to your computer.”)

Honestly yeah probably. But looking back, it was a bit of love at first sight for him, which can happen. Happened to me- tho it was one sided

And looking deeper, he mentioned how before at his younger years, he didn't have any experience like dating or hanging out since he was always so focused on work and just...didn't know how to socialise really. So I'd assume he's something like me i guess

For me personally, i feel like them making him have a crush was a way to make so Vanessa would be able to get away with what she did even if where she worked at would be vigilant bout it, plus it was a creative way to show what she was doing and what was happening without outright telling you like fnaf usually is with lore. But that doesn't mean it was unnatural either, he liked her bright personality, how she looked and everything as he says in the emails, that was what attracted him to her, and its not a bad thing, bc that does happen, ppl do fall in love with others that way, usually just a crush, but it happens. Personality and looks is what attracts others to you, or have you attracted to that person

And that was also a great start to introducing her, have someone who wants to be close to her so to point out indirectly to the fans how she started to change and how she was affected. As then luis starts to point out how slowly she changed

It's implied they talked alot before, and were close colleagues at work so it wasn't out of nowhere or superficial imo.

And like many say he's a creepy hell even a incel. But i dont see it that way? They seem to skim some parts of the whole thing. He genuinely seemed to care for her, even when she never accepted his request to go out for coffee, he was never rude or mean about that. And he was really worried about her, how she suddenly started to change, how her brightmess left her and she started to do questionable things, and not just in a "she's my crush ofc i will care" sure it started like that, but he slowly started to sink in worry about how much she was changing, and not in a good way

I mean yeah, i can agree the fake boyfriend thing seemed weird, but we don't know how close they are by now. I'd honestly say he was probably close enough to see through her lies

More luxu rambelings???

I just can't bring myself to let luxu go from canon BC I just love him sm. I know people want him to just be bad, no redemption arc but my middle name is redemption au so obviously I'm doing one for kingdom hearts

I'm in the " people deserve to be able to redeem themselves " and " you are under no obligation to forgive someone for their actions" can and should coexist camp. ive applied this in this au to xemnas, ansem and even Young xehanort ( ill rambel about him later but tldr he doesnt go back to the past at the end of kh3 like hes meant to, a replica of him does purely because i wanted to keep him in the future but ill elaborate on the story reason for it later.)

Post kh4 luxu definitely falls closer to the " no forgiveness" end of that scale. AU Xemnas worked hard and eventually endeared himself to people, even kairi who he kinda got killed. ok maybe hes not totally forgiven, maybe he never will be but he's at least accepted by the majority. Ansem has his own little neich and a casual but friendly relationship with riku, provided he doesnt talk to much. YMX is acting like a kid, finally having the normal youth that was ripped away from him by MOM . Luxu on the other hand just sort of....gives up. He's not su#idal or anything he just sort of stops caring. the norts try to bring him round, show him if they can do it he can too but... He's broken beyond measure, he doesn't have the strength of will to try any more and loses a sense of self/ego. If someone tells him to do something, he does it, if they tell him to go , he leaves without protest. im not even sure hed defend himself if attacked, he probably just stand there and take it or maybe try to run? after going through this nightmare existance for the last 250+ years , for him to be the only forteller left ,for all the misery he caused only for it to mean nothing in the end is soul crushing. needless to say his sense of self-worth is lower than dirt. Luxu really seems to believe he deserves this dogs abuse for what hes done.

I cant imagine how lonely he was before kh4 but now after its all over and hes burned every bridge hes ever walked, hes completly desolate and renounced by everyone. worst part is, its kinda his own fault.

i think he tries to go back to radiant garden, if for no other reason than getting yelled at by people you know is preferable to being compltly abandoned and outcast. he feels a little comfort from being in the castle but the radient garden gang are none to happy to see him. Ienzo is pleasant if short, surprised to see him . the others however are not, ranging from dismissive, rude and cold attitudes from even and Aeleus right up to outright hostile and violent from Dilan. Dilan is normally pretty calm all things considered but when he sees Luxu standing before Lord Ansem, asking for forgiveness and to stay with them for a little its fucking on sight . Aeleus escorts him out before Dilan can REALLY hurt him but not before reminding him he isnt welcome there anymore. He accuses him of just apologising to assuage his guilt and not because he's actually sorry for all the shit he put them through, which isn't untrue but he really is sorry if you would just hear him out for 5 seconds . Understandably Aeleus shuts the door in his face. He might want to apologise but they dont want to or arent ready to hear it and he knows trying to force that on them would do more damage than good .Luxu still hangs around castle town for a few days licking his wounds in both a literal and figurative sense before deciding that the others are right to be angry and gives up on them.

(just imagine that simpsons clip with bart and lisa "you can actually pinpoint the second his heart rips in half")

whats even worse about all this is that i imagine post kh4, luxu has no keyblade. think about it, all the other fortellers have their own keyblades but luxu gets the master of masters old one. its already covered in scratches by the time he gets it so it cant be made from his heart like all other keyblades, it has to be MoM's. and since MoM is gone now in this au, that means his keyblade is gone too. so lets sumarize. luxu has : no friends, no home, no keyblade and no purpose. i imagine he's feeling pretty low

but because im horrible im going to make it worse.

You remember the subplot of maleficent looking for the book of proficies? well after all this she still hasnt found it but she does now know Xigbar is luxu and who luxu really is. So, understandably she decides to ask him a few friendly questions on the subject by which i mean string him up and slash him with vines until he tells her what she wants to hear.

Listen ive been talking consistantly about how broken and at a loss luxu is but if theres one thing to bring back his defiant streak its this bs from maleficent. homeboy has been holding his tongue for nearly 3 centuries, hes not going to break for a dramatic witch and her pet furry.

Frustrated with her lack of success maleficent takes him back to radient garden and threatens to chuck him off a cliff into an abyss or maybe the water treatment turbines. Luxu is still defiant, even weak and bleeding from her interrogation. He doesn't want to die particularly, he's never read the book of profocies but she doesn't know that. if it means fucking with maleficent then he's happy to go and nip her dumb plans in the bud.

now in my little headcanon its my oc shep whos looking out for him. she has a similar backstory, being burdened with a great task, much older than her physical appearance would suggest so she feels a little kinship with luxu, despite how he's hurt her but for the sake of keeping this somewhat canon compliant so other people can enjoy it lets say dilan takes her place.

Sorry to the luxu stans out there I'm just whumping this man for his life.

Just when it seems like she's about have Pete fling him over the edge something bonks Pete in the head and clatters to the floor. Luxu might be weak from injury or bloodloss but he's not stupid, he might have to crawl but he's getting away from these assholes, kicking Pete in the shins for good measure. Absolutely no prizes for guessing who it is that's come to rescue him.

The radiant garden gang cannot stand maleficent. Ok they gave up their hearts but SHE was the one to drag radiant garden into the darkness, squatting in their home like a frog for 10 years. Dilan is still mad as hell but he's also not just about to sit there and let that arrogant witch have her way. They can't beat her, not even with the 5 of them but thankfully she's not looking for a fight. She and Pete retreat for now, promising to come back for luxu and some answers. Even Even takes that shit personally and is ready to throw hands with her if she ever comes back. Luxu is just sort of sat in stunned silence even as he's ushered into the castle to have his wounds treated.

Things are a little bit tense but they can't exactly leave luxu to die from infection or exposure. Until someone makes a joke Like " damn even didn't know you had it in you" followed by some bravado from a usually fairly risk adversed Even, and a little alughter all round. Even Dilan has a small smile and for maybe just a moment everything feels normal again for luxu like maybe there's a little hope after all.

on that topic i think i will call this the golden au after Kintsugi, the art of repairing broken things with gold. It's not the same as before but the breaks are part of its beauty

There's a quote I'm fond of that is "

You don't need another Human Being to make your life complete, but let's be honest. YES he IS the biggest hypocrite because he'll always talk about things he's done and then be so shocked when you do the same thing. Like when telling you stories from his youth he'll be like "haha yeah this one time I got so wasted I woke up half naked in the street lol" but when YOU come home like "sorry I didn't come back till this morning I got so wasted I woke up half naked in the street lol" he's about to blow a fuse, sitting there with a twitching, strained smile. You did what?? Public drunkenness? Do you not realize people could take advantage of you? Unbelievable. He raised you better than this.

...Okay, so maybe he didn't actually raise you better than this, but... haven't you ever heard 'do as I say not as I do?' Obviously just because he does something doesn't mean it's okay for you to do... you're different. Way more naive and vulnerable and all that.

So yes, whenever you start dressing similarly to him, tight clothes and gaps in the right (wrong, for you) places, hanging around the wrong crowds, engaging in unsavory behaviors... it's cause for him to sort of backpedal. He's generally a very lax and easygoing parent -- while he made sure you were safe, he didn't enforce a lot of behavioral rules, was a lot less strict than most parents and let you do what you want quite a bit, spoiled you and all that... but clearly there must have been a mistake or two made in doing so.

And he's fully aware that it's quite hypocritical, so he doesn't lay into you outright, he just sort of clenches his jaw for a moment while coming up with what to say... he tells you that, well, listen sweetheart, he tells you stories like that so that you can learn from his mistakes, that's all... not so that you can replicate them. Maybe he just hasn't emphasized the negative effects of such things well enough. See, alcohol impairs your judgement and reasoning and sense of awareness... yes yes, that's the point when he's the one doing the drinking (bonus points if that may or may not kinda also be how you came into existence...), but it's different for you. You're too vulnerable.

On that note of that backstory idea... Consider daughter!darling being a sort of substitute. Poor single father Kaeya, who got some sort of friends-with-benefits or oe night stand knocked up sort of deal... and he was perfectly okay with it! He was actually really depressed when she ran off and didn't come see him again after that night... and for half a second was really happy when he sees her again, thinking she's coming to tell him she's changed her mind on whatever made her socially ghost him... but no, it's just to tell him about the pregnant thing... oh. And he's happy about that at first too!

He doesn't care if people look down on him for the out-of-wedlock part, he was more than content with settling down and getting married and.... oh. She doesn't look happy. Turns out she doesn't want that. Avoids him for a long time, even though he scours the city looking for her. Shows up one day to shove you in his arms and disappears. And try as he might, he can't find her again... in the few seconds it took him to set you down, he looked back up and she was gone, unable to be found in the crowd, probably moved to a new city...

You only ever hear about this in bits and pieces, though, you sort of have to piece together what happened to your mother over the years as you grew, he was very reluctant to talk about it. You once heard one of the knights (with whom you used to spend a lot of time under their care as a kid when he'd bring you to work, having no one to stay at home with you) that he still won't date other people, heard another one of them tell one of the newbies about the story--

--still convinced in the back of his mind that she'll come back some day, poor guy...

And yet another time, you hear two of them whisper to each other. Say that, well, it was a casual thing, he even admits to that, so he probably wasn't the only person in her life,

--think that he knows deep down that she ran off with some other guy, just doesn't wanna accept it...

People who know him seem to feel bad for him about it. Maybe that's why he's always been so protective... even now as an adult, why he's always insistent on knowing where you are all the time, even though he's otherwise pretty laid back as a parent. Why he's always insists on knowing who you're with. Chuckles and makes jokes just a bit too often that someone is going to go running off with you and take you away, of course he can't let that happen, haha...you've never actually dated anyone, though. Everyone says your dad is a bit too intimidating, which you can't imagine how they'd think that! He's like, such an easy person to get along with... they say he has a glare, but you don't really see it.

Either way, you're content with the way things are for a while... eventually, of course, as you get older, you do start talking about trying to find someone to settle down with. He always laughs a bit. Haha, gonna up and leave me all alone now? He smiles when he says it, as if joking, but... there's something genuine in his tone. You insist you'll always stay close. You have to live your own life, surely he understands that.

The older you get, the more intense this overprotectiveness seems to become. Always asking where you've been, why you stayed out so late... you had him worried. You're not a kid anymore, at your age, you know, anyone asking to hang out late at night probably has specific intentions... he can't have anyone leading you astray. You're so easily manipulated, so gullible, so eager to please, you'd probably make stupid decisions if someone tried to get you to... that's why he has to be there for you.

And another habit he's seemed to develop in addition to that increase in over-protectiveness... although he used to refrain from ever mentioning her at all, these days he says every now and then that you look just like your mother... ah, it almost feels like he's traveled back in time. He's always maintained a youthful appearance himself, so, you two practically look just like they did together back then. There's a sadness to the way he smiles when he reminisces. He becomes clingier... starts saying you two haven't spend enough time together lately, you should go do something together... Every time now you say you're going out to grab this or that, he insists on going with you.

Can't have you meeting someone else while you're out shopping or picking up something. No, that would be unideal... he'd hate to have to chase anyone else off. He really hates it when they're persistent, when they have to be threatened or blackmailed to be convinced to stay away from his precious little girl. He always looks out for those ones, who undoubtedly still remember him, looks them in the eye from a distance if he sees them with a cold glare to ensure they don't get any ideas about letting you know your father is chasing people away from you. That would only end poorly for them, and he's sure they know that.

You, you poor naive thing, probably truly believe you're just unpopular... you always have been. You've always had difficulty making friends, especially boys, always found people tend to not contact you again after going out just one time, find people tend to shy away from you as if afraid. You've never understood why... but your father always told you they just don't know how special you are, don't know what they're missing out on. It's sweet, even if you know it's cheesy, and it does make you feel better... you always go to him when you're sad or hurt, and he's always there to comfort you.

But it's not wrong of you to want what everyone else seems to want, right? To find a real partner...? Not that you don't love your father, but he's... well, he's your father. You want to find chemistry and the spark of love and all that... not matter how repetitively unsuccessful you seem to be thus far. Having no one else you can think of, you suck it up and go to your father for dating advice... he just laughs. Ah, what do you need that for? Come on, it's way too early to be thinking about that, you're so young, you shouldn't be thinking about dating until, like, years from now, really. Even if you disagree, even if people your age are all getting married... you still listen, because he knows best, doesn't he? Maybe you should wait a bit...

Except when a whole year passes, and you ask again, he keeps saying the same thing. And again later on, and again even later, again and again... you eventually tell him you're not too young, all of your friends are already married! You need to find someone....

To which he almost seems... hurt. Have I done something to make you unhappy...? Why do you want to move out so badly? C'mon, talk to me about it, you can tell me anything... You try to explain that it's not that, it's not that you want to leave him, it's just... but he interrupts you. It happens more and more often now. He doesn't even let you finish your sentences. It's like he's cutting you off intentionally, refusing to let you explain in order to keep the narrative that you're trying to leave him out of anger or something, no matter how much you insist it's untrue.
