Jorge Ben - A Minha Menina (1968)
Jorge Ben's wonderful A Minha Menina was more famously recorded by Os Mutantes a year later. 1968 was a quiet year for Jorge Ben, at least in terms of recordings. But it was also a year of transition as he honed his new style.

jorge ben jor - take it easy my brother charles (1969)
after the first man wonderfully stepped on the moon, i felt I had rights, principles, and dignity to liberate myself because of this, without prejudice I sing, i sing of fantasy, i sing of love, I sing of happiness, i sing of belief, I sing of peace, i sing of suggestion, i sing in the dawn. take it easy, my brother Charlie, because i sing to my love, awaited, desired, adored.

Gilberto Gil & Jorge Ben  - Filhos de Gandhi (1975)
A request, I believe.  Gilberto Gil wrote this song to honor Filhos de Gandhy, a hugely popular Brazilian afoxé in Salvador.  He returned to it on his magical collaboration with Jorge Ben - just the two of them on acoustic guitar with a percussionist.

Revisiting some flop Mariah Carey albums this evening while cleaning (Glitter, Charmbracelet, MC=E^2), and just noting some funny or ironic lyrics
"it's another #1 debut fo' sho'", featured on one of her most forgettable and irrelevant songs ("Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)" ft. Mystikal)
"thank you for embracing a flaxen haired baby / although I'm aware you had your doubts" always a v interesting tidbit about the Carey family dynamics, this one. Ironic bc Mariah grew up to have v similar facial features as her older siblings, they clearly all have the same parentage. Mariah just has lighter coloring.
Mariah citing bible verse numbers @ her haters on "I Wish You Well". Reminds me of memes about athletes with John 3:16 in their instagram bios or w/e
Mariah writing an entire song about her experience with domestic abuse but it's set to THEE most dated 2008 sounding production ever. Very T-pain impact autotune/synth like you know.
"I had a crush on you / Painstakingly, I would conceal the truth / (You probably always knew) / But I was timid like a child / Inhibited and way too shy / I'd glance but then avert my eyes / All twisted up in my desire" <-her most femcel lyrics ever?
The way she has 2 songs on Anklemonitor addressed to Derek Jeter...she was really feeling nostalgic for 1997 then
One of those songs ("Subtle Invitation") features these lines: "If you really need me / Baby, just reach out and touch me" which I'm pretty sure is cribbed from Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" ......AND......that same Rod Stewart song plagiarizes the melody of Jorge Ben Jor's "Taj Mahal". Oh my god I did it I made a hidden chain of connection between MC and JBJ !!!!!!!!
