He felt oddly self-conscious under the other’s gaze. “I think the last time I saw you was five years ago, at a KC duelist reunion,” he found himself saying as he attempted to quell the nervousness swelling in his gut. What was going on with him? It was Jounouchi of all people. “Actually, I saw you on a billboard just the other day,” the blonde said with a chuckle as he reached to clean the wound on the other’s lip. “But yeah, otherwise, it’s been a while.”

My part of the YGO Mini Bang (done by @ygobigbang ) for ArienElensar's fic, "A Welcome Sight". :) Kaiba goes out to clear his head, crashes instead, and Jou has to help him get cleaned up.

man now im just thinking about how jou has that stupid dog mascot job in the epilogue but what if kaiba doesnt KNOW its jou in there. and kaiba is having a bad day and jou is like “fine. whatever” and goes over to be silly and cheer him up and kaiba opens up to him as the mascot and jou is like Well Shit.

and in theory he could just talk and tell kaiba its him in there, but he looks like hes having a really bad day and now kaibas ranting about how mokuba refuses to listen to him about a classmate being a terrible influence, and he’s just in this dog costume nodding along. then kaiba ends up showing up again and being like “oh. its you” and accidentally starts ranting again and jou is like dude would you RELAX. but he cant SAY anything obviously so he just pats kaibas shoulder awkwardly

and then it becomes a habit for kaiba to visit that mall every time hes in the area just to see if the dog mascot is on shift; and every time they see each other normally when kaiba snaps at him, jou thinks really hard about how kaibas investors are trying to veto some of his new ideas that jou KNOWS kaiba has the capability to make well, and he just lets the insults roll off him more and eases up on the banter and kaiba is so very confused. “why are you being nice to me” and jou is SWEATING like “uhhhhh. i am tired today”

the plot twist is when kaiba starts talking to the mascot about jou. “he’s being weird lately and i don’t understand why. he’s almost tolerable now and i could see us becoming friends but i dont know how to tell him” and jou is in the costume looking like screamcat

JouKai Week for 2024 will run between Friday, January 19th and Thursday, January 25th, 2024.

💙 How does this work?

This event is open to anyone who's a fan of Kaiba and Joey.

A pair of prompts is provided every day. Feel free to pick and choose, or combine both prompts in your fanworks. You can make as many pieces as you want for any given day. Feel free to participate every day, or just on the days where you feel like it.

You can start working on your fills as soon as prompts are posted, but please do not post your finished works before the event starts.

Create whatever you're inspired to—fanart, traditional long-form fanfiction, poetry, crafts, mood boards, ship playlists, or headcanon posts.

I have no clue why I never posted them when it was literally the first thing I drew once I got a pen again. Maybe it was stage fright. Either way I’m becoming WAY more comfortable with drawing these guys over time. Thank the Lord. I couldn’t take having to choose between making them recognisable or look somewhat good.

I struggled a lot trying to find a balance to making Kaiba look gigantic, skinny, sickly and all around like he’s on his deathbed whilst also keeping in mind how much stronger he inexplicably is compared to everyone else. So I beefed him up just enough to he looks toned then gave him thunder thighs. Jonouchi looks beefy too but it’s shrouded in clothing. Plus he slouches.

to be CLEAR. kaiba insists on driving the motorcycle and makes jou sit behind him at first until kaiba sprains his wrist or something from all his stupid posturing while he duels and jou drives him around instead and kaiba experiences the intensely gay emotion of clinging onto another man with no other sounds except jou’s laugh and the wind as they clock 105mph on the freeway at 4 in the morning and he decides that maybe letting jou drive isn’t that big of a blow to his ego after all
