Pairing: Reader/Kisame
Prompt: "Blue Lips, Blue Veins" for Friday, March 17th

Summary: You’re cold, he’s hot. There’s only one logical solution for that.
Warnings: None.

A/N: For @kisames-corner Kisame birthday event.
I read the prompt and thought “cold”, idk if it really fits, but here we are 🤷♀️
[Masterlist]
Despite the stop in the cave and despite the warm fire you were now sitting close to, your body shook and your teeth clattered. It was so cold!
Your superior looked at you from across the fire with an amused smirk. "Keep that up and you'll alert every bounty hunter in the country."
Kisame chuckled as you tried to stop your teeth from clattering again, and failed.
Of course he wasn't as affected by the weather! Not only was he one of the biggest guys you'd ever seen, he had that giant Akatsuki cloak to help him keep warm.
Since you weren't really a full fledged member of the Akatsuki, just little more than one of Sasori's subordinates, you didn't have a cloak of your own yet. It wasn't fair, really. Tobi had one!
You inched closer to the fire, any closer and you'd be in the fire, yet you were still cold! You continued to eye Kisame’s cloak, wondering if you could get away with stealing it for a few hours. Probably not. Maybe you could just sit close enough to stick your hands under the hem? Maybe your feet too?
“Huh? What are you staring at?”
"Give me...Your. Heat." You mumbled, teeth still clattering around every word.
"What?"
With all the speed of a desperate ninja you leapt over the fire, somewhere in the back of your mind you registered that you were finally warm for just a second, towards Kisame.
Kisame let out a string of confused profanities as he struggled to keep you off of him without resorting to tossing you to the other side of the cave. "The hell are you doing?"
"Warm! Warm!"
"What?"
With enough speed you were finally able to rip open Kisame's cloak. You paused your frantic movements as you registered that you had revealed his bare chest. How?! How was he running around in this weather without a shirt? The cloak must be warmer than you thought!
He paused too, his hands still gripping your forearms, and smirked when he noticed your eyes roaming his chest. "Like-"
He may have thought you were checking him out, but what really drew your attention wasn't the fact that his muscles were impeccably chiseled (well, mostly) but that his core was radiating enough heat to warm you up.
Before he could finish his smug response, you pulled your arms out of his grasp and spun around. You practically slammed your back into his chest and clutched the front of the cloak closed, relishing in the trapped body heat.
"Seriously? You know, if you can’t handle a little chill-"
Kisame began to reprimand you, his hands hovering awkwardly by your shoulders as he wasn’t sure what to do now, but you ignored his complaints and looked up at him. “Yea, you’re right. This isn’t practical.”
“What ar-”
For a second time your actions confused him so much that he could do nothing but stand still. You turned around with a shuffle, careful not to open the front of the cloak, and hopped up and anchored yourself to him by locking your legs around his waist and arms around his neck.
A smaller man might have been imbalanced by the sudden shift in weight and slight but sudden impact, but this was Kisame Hoshigaki, he could easily bear your weight. Besides, you were holding yourself up as you clung to him...and he didn’t know what to do as you nuzzled your nose into his neck. If you’d thought he was warm before, the unexpected and intimate physical contact sent a rather embarrassing surge of warmth through his entire body. A part of him hoped you didn’t notice, since your eyes were closed he was sure he was safe from a visual scrutiny, but you likely heard his heart rate spike before he managed to get it under control.
“Get off of me.” He didn’t sound nearly as gruff as he intended.
“We’ll both be more comfortable if you just sit down, Kisame.”
Kisame let out a huff halfway between a growl and a sigh before, unseen by you, he smirked as an idea for some revenge came to his mind. If you refused to let go of him and wanted him to sit down…
He pulled his arms inside his cloak, noting that you didn’t react to the movement, and roughly grabbed your bottom, the echo of the slap bouncing off the cave walls despite being muffled by his cloak. He was rewarded with a surprised squeal from you and grinned to himself as he sat back down, maneuvering you so you were straddling him.
“Jokes on you. Your hands are warm and my butt is just as cold as the rest of me."
"Hm? You liked that did you?"
You nodded, or perhaps you were just warming your face against his increasingly hot skin. “Go ahead, touch me wherever you want.”
He could hear the dare in your voice and could feel you smirking into his shoulder. You were playing with fire at this point. How close were you truly willing to get? “Careful what you wish for.” To emphasize his words, he gave your ass another rough squeeze before sliding one hand underneath your shirt, resting it against your lower back.
You shuddered at his touch then stilled. For just a second his stomach knotted up, wondering if you changed your mind. But you looked up at him, a grin still on your face, before you surprised him with a kiss. Soft, short, sweet. “I wish.”
When he kisses you it’s the opposite; rough, demanding, drawn out. Now that he has you, he doesn’t want to stop.
You were finally warm, hot even. Right up until he slammed your naked back onto the freezing ground of the cave. Your screams and his chuckles echoed through the cave even as he laid out his cloak for you. That’s it. You were definitely going to steal it, after he warmed you up again!

Help us celebrate everyone's favorite sharkman during his birthday weekend! For the weekend of March 18th (March 17-March 19th) we will be throwing him a birthday bash and would like to invite everyone to join in! Participation is optional with no sign-ups required

All works must be Kisame focused (and by this we mean Kisame must be a main character, but he does not need to be the POV holder)
All pairings are welcome
All types of works are accepted
Works do not need to include a pairing
There is no limit to how much/how little you can do! Whatever you want to do to participate is great! :)
You can merge works with other events so long as it is within the other event's rules as well
All NSFW/Dark content is allowed but must be tagged clearly and have warnings. Anything with sensitive content must be behind a cut. If things are not tagged correctly and clearly, we will not reblog your submission

Day one - prompt: blue lips, blue veins.
WC: 517 / Warnings: none / Pairing: Kisame x Itachi.
Kisame watches as water drips down Itachi's back. His fingers itch, almost ache to follow the lines all the way down to the slim waist and even lower, the parts of him that the water in the natural pool are hiding.
He knows he shouldn't look. Not like this, with a hunger that he's sure Itachi could feel even if he wasn't a shinobi. He was supposed to be standing guard while Itachi bathed in the small lake, paying attention to their surroundings, ready to defend him against potential enemies. It was unnecessary because Itachi could very well defend himself against pretty much anyone, but Kisame still worries. Itachi is sick and he won't do anything about it and won't let Kisame do anything either.
He offered to search for a medic, to research available medicine. He would have offered to quit Akatsuki completely and make a deal with the Leaf Kage, Tsunade Senju, rumored to be the best medic-nin in the world if he knew for sure she would be able to heal Itachi (and as a second thought, kidnapping the Hokage did cross his mind, but he didn't have enough manpower to contain and force a sannin to do his bidding, so he tossed the idea as quickly as it came).
But he held his tongue because he knew Itachi would dismiss his efforts. He was on a track to die by his brother's hand and probably thought being sick was a divine punishment. It also worked to Sasuke's advantage. Kisame didn't know what level of power Sasuke had, but Itachi was labeled a genius and it wasn't for nothing. He was extremely powerful and skilled. Maybe Sasuke was on his level or close to it, but Kisame doubted. He didn't like to think about him anyway. Sasuke meant Itachi's death. It was enough to make Kisame actively block the younger Uchiha from mind.
No, he prefers to think of Itachi bathing, enjoying the cool water running down his body. He prefers to think of the hint of smile that decorates his face when he has some dango and the relaxation in his posture when he drinks his favorite tea.
He looks at him again and is shocked to see Itachi looking back. More than that, he's facing Kisame, his pale skin wet and glistening in the soft light. Kisame couldn't avert his eyes even under torture. Itachi looks almost ethereal, unreal, almost like a siren designed specifically to tempt him.
He watches as Itachi raises his hand and beckons him closer. Kisame is powerless to resist. He watches, incredulous, his own hand touch Itachi's skin, sees his fingers against his palm, admires as goosebumps run up Itachi's arm as the tip of his fingers touch the soft skin on his wrist.
Kisame can see his veins, blue-green under the pale skin. The sight is irresistible, for some reason. He pulls Itachi closer, pulls his arm up and kisses the soft skin lightly. He hears the smaller man gasp and kisses Itachi's wrist again. In the soft light of dawn, blue lips meet blue veins.

Summary:
In which Kisame gets a new roommate to help cover the rent and bills, and quickly learns he may have got more than he bargained for.
Kisame looked up from his phone as the doorbell rang. Several times. In rapid succession. Frowning, he thought it might be some kids playing a prank and wanted to ignore it, but he was also supposed to show the extra room to a potential roommate. One he desperately needed to help cover the rent and bills that were coming up.
It would be impolite not to answer the door, Kisame knew, but he was seriously considering it. One reason being if it was his potential roommate (who was late by nearly an hour), he hoped the lateness and annoying manner of ringing the bell wasn’t a sign of other things to come that would no doubt annoy him to no end.
After a moment of going back and forth about it, Kisame got up from the couch with a sigh and went to open the door. Through the peephole he saw the back of what had to be an older man judging by his head full of gray hair. It was slicked back, probably to cover a bald spot, Kisame thought with a smirk.
A senior citizen wasn’t quite what he had envisioned having for a roommate but what did it matter? It wasn’t as if they would be be sleeping together. Having a cute old man living with him might be kind of nice. Sort of like having a live-in grandpa. With that in mind, Kisame opened the door.

My entry for the third day of the Kisame Birthday Bash 2023 and the prompt I chose was 'teeth'.
This story was also inspired by this gorgeous artwork and is a gift for chrriedhearts, @mjolklizard, @hausofitachi, and @venusxblue, all of whom encouraged me to write it.
Truly, it takes a village.
Itachi's pen scratches on the paper of his notebook.
The sound is quiet, soft enough not to wake his boyfriend as he finishes the shading that marks a day's worth of stubble. Really, Kisame should have been in bed hours ago, but neither of them wanted to skip their Skype date - not even after the work dinner ran late.
Still, Itachi can't bear to let Kisame sleep like this, slumped over at the desk in an anonymous hotel room. It's bad enough that his boyfriend will have to function on little sleep, there's no reason to add a painful neck to the equation.

For @heyitswrenn who gave me the prompt:
What about Kisa finding a love note in his room at the Akatsuki base and wants to find out who left it?
The title comes from this quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:
Loving is not just looking at each other, it's looking in the same direction.
Kisame steps into his room and hears the rustle of paper under the sole of his sandals.
He lifts his foot to reveal a small origami heart - blue, no, purple in colour.
Setting Samehada down, he picks it up, inspecting it carefully. The creases are neat and there are no hidden seals or traces of chakra. Nothing in fact to indicate that it is anything but what it appears to be - a folded piece of paper.
With great care, he opens it up, flattening it as it tries to fold back upon it self, to reveal words. The message isn't very long and he absorbs it quickly.
Kisame-san!
I know it's very late, but...

I got inspired by the Kisame Birthday Bash 2023, and it spiraled, as fics are wont to do.

Hoshigaki Kisame centric
Summary: Kisame has a talk with the great lady of the sea, Isonade, after and before his death. That's how it starts.
Kisame is determined to hold to truth on his second chance, but even a small pebble thrown in the ocean will make a change. He's just not a small pebble. Things don't go as expected, but when do they ever? He can't begin to guess how it will end (this time) anymore.

Written for the 'Sea Monsters’ prompt of the 2023 Kisame Birthday Bash, this story was inspired by Princess Tamatori and Kōjin by Takizawa Bakin, also known as Kyokutei Bakin (1767-1848).
It's also a present for @heyitswrenn who requested a fairytale retelling with a Kisa ship and @good-grievance who showed me their drawing of Itachi as a tengu.

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, in a time of myths and gods, there was a mountain.
As with most mountains, it boasted a guardian - a tengu with wings of night and eyes of flame, who cared for the beings that made it their home, human, animal or yōkai. His days were spent shepherding the lost and keeping the peace, and his people gave thanks for his help, especially in times of trouble.
One day, when he was flying above the cliffs that were his home, he spotted a limp figure in the waves. Fearing it to be an unlucky fisherman, he swooped down upon it, plucking it out of the sea before it could crash against the sharp rocks, only to find it was not a human at all.
For the figure in his arms, heavy with seawater, was a kōjin.
