sooo, the one standing up is the vocalist (quint/water), the one in the middle grand pianist (earth/quint), left cellist (fire/quint), right cellist (water/quint).

i've been meaning to design them for a while, but i never got to it until now kwjdjs anyway, did we ever come up with names for them?? i think i've only seen one for the grand pianist ghoulette.

Here it is !! the finished illustration of the new Ghoulettes !! they've been on my mind for two weeks now, im happy i was able to do something that i like with them !!!

i think i'll post ref sheets of their designs in the next few days, as well as some other sketches i did !

quick explanation for their names : i really liked Eden and followed that idea, and because i feel like cellos are water/bass instrument i looked up what seas where important in the Bible and how they were called at different time periods and found that the dead sea was called Nekra in ancient greek, and the red sea Erythra. Lume was already popular, and i actually enjoy it so i just kept it like for Eden !

curious if you have any thoughts about the LA ghoulettes? i've been searching for content of them because... women...

I actually haven’t thought a ton about them since the concert so thank you for bringing them up! I immediately kind of imprinted on this post by @slippy-socks and so I’ll be using/referring to those names and designs and elements bc YEAHHHHHH GHOULETTES OF OTHER ELEMENTS FUCKING FINALLY

Anyways now that I have solid headcanons I can add them to every growing list of ways to make them weird bc oh I’ve been thinking as I’ve been writing this (puts on my t shirt that says ask me about the LA ghoulettes)

Headcanons under cut for length!

Calliope - vocals/ quintessence

I think Callie is more of a traditional quint personality wise. Very intellectual and likes structure. She’s just a more serious gal! Obviously gets along well with aether, they’re kinda book besties when she’s summoned, sharing different books on the stars and magic and other interesting things about the world. She thinks phantom is cute in that aspect. Helping him create maps of the stars in his room with stupid stickers he found. I think Callie’s quintessence revolves more around astral ideas as opposed to medical and body wise like aether and shadow wise like phantom.

She’s a very calm entity I think. She leans femme. Sweet and low energy but with a stoic commanding respect nature to her. She prefers to be alone or with another low energy individual such as aether or rain.

Eden- piano / earth

eden likes mischief. Can be a bit egotistical. Perfectionist and takes her instrument very seriously and can be annoyed when some of the other ghouls tend to mess around more.

She’s very honest, one to not beat around the bush. Gives amazing advice but won’t just tell you what you want to hear, will tell you what you need to hear.

Despite her more aloof side, she is very physical! She loves physical contact, and often has her arm around another ghoul or is on someone’s lap or is holding someone’s hand.

She enjoys hanging around dew, they feed off of each others more chaotic sides and get into friendly competitions that have the other swearing up and down the other is cheating

Loire- cello/ water

Another more introverted ghoulette. Shy and timid and tends to hang around Callie more as she feels she’s more safe and stable.

I don’t think she talks much, simply content on hanging around, partially mute, goes quiet when she gets overwhelmed. I think she has a lot of feelings and tends to shut down a bit, but she’s trying her best

Sweetheart when she’s comfortable with you. Very much is an acts of service gal. Getting another ghoul a drink or a snack or sewing up ripped clothes without asking, cleaning rooms when she sees they’re in a bit of disarray, she likes to stay busy by helping out her pack.

Tends to be seen more around Callie, cirrus and mountain as they feel the most grounded to her.

Soleil- cello/ fire

she’s a bimbo

You’ve seen ifrit the himbo? This is soleil the bimbo.

She’s sweet and strong and kinda stupid. Very extroverted. Loves her pack immensely.

Obviously can be a bit hot headed, her and Eden share an ego and are often together because of it, Eden being more competitive while sol is there to kinda have fun and see how far she can push Eden to be better.

She’s such a supporter, constantly cheering on the other ghouls, loves to compliment them and tell them how amazing they are (can be a bit aggressive but … she’s trying her best)

Like the other beloved himbos, is not allowed in the kitchen or the greenhouse because of multiple incidents (cough, dews a bad influence, cough)

Often seen around Swiss, Eden and cumulus because of their brighter personalities

Still on my LA ghoulettes bullshit have more headcanons

Gale (grand piano) at first glance seems like the most intimidating and most likely to start a hunt, but in actuality its Echo (vocalist). Echo just lets everyone believe Gale is the strongest of the 4 because she can use that to her advantage if need be…she also really likes seeing how happy Gale is as the protector so she plays along

Cassiopeia and Marina (the cellists) sometimes speak at the same time and nobody can tell if it’s because they’re sisters or because of their connection to quintessence. The truth is they have a bit of mental connection and they only use it to fuck around with others

Cas will sit on the dock of the lake making star maps while Marina swims under the moonlight. Those two are inseparable.

Really, their entire little pack is. Gale and Echo already were a bonded pair and Cas and Marina are close as two ghoulish siblings can be. That’s sort of what caused this little pack to be formed. They all saw how important connection is and kinda gravitated towards each other.

Delta could not be more proud of his daughters for following in his footsteps and playing for the Ghost Project. He spoils the fuck out of them along with Gale and Echo by proxy

None of them are super talkative when they’re around others, honestly it’s kind of a rarity to even see them since they spend most of their time hidden away in their den. Why look for other company when all the people you love is under one roof?

So there was a few small tidbits of lore I forgot to comment on, that will be used going forward! I just wanted to write this out as a mini update before I forgot.

-This ended US tour cycle Copia did confirm in multiple shows that Nihil is his dad *confetti canon*. So nothing with Copia being related will change in my world building. Only with him finding out who his parents were AFTER he became Papa. The other Papas were either vaguely suspicious or knew.

- I realized I never addressed how Aether and Sunshine have departed in my work. Aether stepped away from the Ghost project to be trained fully as the next Omega Ghoul (or the named title for the Ghoul in charge of all the quintessence ghouls.) I haven’t yet decided what to do for Sunshine, but I like to think they stayed back to work for Sister.

-I will not write for them just yet, but the four new ghoulettes from the LA rituals! The two cellists, the pianist, and the vocalist!

I’m not sure the fandom has decided names for each of them yet, but I’ll probably do some reflecting and name them for my writings. It may or may not change if there is a popular consensus in the fandom!

But they, in my universe, are all older ghouls who were summoned centuries ago and used to play for the old Papas. Aurora knows all of them and has duetted with the Vocalist many of times; they are very close!

(So far I really like the name Luna for the vocalist because I LOVE the idea of her being a compliment of Sunshine!)

Thanks everyone! Wanted to get these all down as we draw close to the end of the Impera cycle. Can’t believe it’s been five-six years since this blog has started… and it’ll keep going into album number six!!

Thinking of @crimsonclergy Midwest au stuff and I don’t know anything about the Midwest cause I’m southern. So I now want to present to you, LA Ghoulettes doing Satanic Ministry in the Appalachian way.

It would be an older Victorian building up in the mountains, on curvy back roads with a one lane dirt road that leads up to the church itself. There’s a bottle tree outside, and all sorts of trinkets along the way. The church itself holds a decoration day every few months for the families to tend to the graves of those long gone. There’s coins on the gates to the cemetery too and coins on graves.

Eden probably does a lot of teaching, with the help of Lume. One teaches the kiddos singing while the other tackles sheet music. The kids are always super cute about it too when Miss Lume or Miss Eden are there wanting to compete.

All four girls also probably play in some sort of accompaniment to services. Appalachian services get a bit excitable and other times a bit dramatic. It’s not uncommon for Nekra to provide some sort of spooky sound on her cello to add emphasis to parts of the sermon of the preacher. She also does it because spooking the older kids gets harder and it’s always fun to see who very suddenly is paying attention.

Erythra probably plays heavily into decoration day, running a lot of prep work with home grown flowers. Lots of seasonal variety because of how they have the events scheduled out. It’s quite as somber as some would expect, there’s a lot of story telling and fun stories as people come together to make it look like something.

Overall, it’s very Southern Gothic, a heavy hand in Appalachian mysticism as well. There’s at least one ghoul in the church that can do healing of some southern variety, taking the burn out injuries or soothing poison ivy, maybe someone can talk sickness out. There’s some sort of tincture being passed around that’s very potent and made with extremely high proof moonshine that no one wants to say where they got it. But it’s a peaceful time, not a lot of folks bother them. The Ghoulettes would handle that quickly when it comes to protecting their community.

for those asking about the ghoulette dresses: it was your classic victorian mourning gown. floor length with veils that covered their whole faces—unclear if masked underneath still or if the veils were opaque enough they didn’t use them. personally i think the veils would have been opaque enough based on historical examples we have. think constance hatchaway haunted mansion realness, but make it black and you’ll have a pretty close approximation.

edit: here’s some photo refs off of google that are similar—top right is closest in terms of skirt shape, from what I could see.

edit edit: just to be clear, they only wore these for 1 song! it was the if you have ghosts cover. four ghoulettes total, with 2 playing cellos, 1 on grand piano, and one on either vocals or theremin (I couldn’t tell! if anyone had a clearer view pls lmk!)
