top 10 kdrama couples? and top 10 romantic kdramas? (i wanna watch something with good romance haha)
oh nonnie this is gonna be a challenge but i will do my absolute best. one thing you need to know about me and my taste in romance is that i'm really not here for straight up fluff. i need a bit of melodrama and angst to keep me invested. gonna stick it under a read more bc i feel it's gonna get lengthy asdfghjk
couples:
ji ho and jeung in (one spring night) - they invented being in love and facing your problems with maturity and they're just so important to me.
kang doo and moon soo (just between lovers) - if there's one thing i love in my romance it's angst and hurt people learning to heal together and literally no one does it like them. kang doo remains my favourite junho role too, so.
kyeo rye and yeon joo (if you wish upon me) - similar to jbl tbh kyeo rye is such a broken man at the start of the drama and watching him slowly fall in love and heal from years and years of trauma destroyed all of my emotions.
gong myung and se ra (into the ring) - THE childhood friends to rivals to friends to lovers ship!!!!! no one does it like they do honestly they're THE standard when it comes to emotional maturity.
joong gil and ryeon (tomorrow) - listen if you were around last year then you know just insane they made me. soulmates defying literal fate to end up together after centuries of trauma they make me so sick.
cheoljong and so bong (queen cheorin) - THE standard for enemies to lovers. nothing has ever been able to replicate the buzz they gave me week to week.
seon gyeom and mi joo (run on) - the softest couple on this entire list actually i think. they're just so sweet and cozy and safe and i love them so much.
taejun and taeyang (love all play) - my babies!!!! the drama itself kinda sucks but theyyyyy. one of the most mature relationships i've ever seen in a drama actually like we love a couple that actively talk about their issues and try to overcome them together.
vincenzo and cha young (vincenzo) - enemies to coconspirators to lovers excellence honestly who is doing chemistry like them. they're just so sexy.
dong jin and woo joo (call it love) - hi hello it's another instance of two traumatised people falling in love and finding happiness together what can i say i have a TYPE.
dramas:
one spring night - i've already talked about why i love this drama so much so i won't do it again but just know. i love it so so much it's so important to ME.
just between lovers - another one i've talked about a lot at this point but outside of the romance, this drama is just so GOOD. it deals with a lot of heavy themes so i'd advise discretion but it's so worth it imo. but just 10/10 experience wish i could go back and watch it again for the first time.
if you wish upon me - i love it for a lot of the same reasons i love jbl they're very similar imo. also. kyeo rye is the most character of all time i genuinely don't think ji chang wook is ever topping him.
into the ring - underrated!!!! underrated!!!!!!!!! underrated!!!!!!!!!!!! y'all slept on this one so hard and i still haven't forgiven you. i love romance between two grown adults who actually act their age and don't fall victim to stupid tropes.
run on - this drama makes me feel so cozy and safe and fuzzy idk man it's just pure good vibes for my soul.
call it love - if you love dramas that are slow, where a lot is said with very little dialogue and where the colour grading tells you a lot about the characters emotional states then boy do i have the drama for you.
witch's romance - can i interest you in twinky park seo joon in love with uhm jung hwa??? bc that's what this drama has to offer and it's so fun. it might be a bit dated now bc it came out in 2014 but i had such a good time when i first watched it.
queen cheorin - aside from the last half of the last episode i had such a good fun time watching two absolute idiots fight tooth and nail against falling in love with each other. when are we ever getting that level of chemistry again???
moon embracing the sun - alright i'm gonna be honest i don't actually remember all that much of this one anymore. i only watched it because kim soo hyun's in it. but i watched it as it was airing and it emotionally destroyed me so that's gotta count for something.
first love hatsukoi - yeah yeah it's not korean it's japanese but it's also the best show i've watched in the last year so!!!!! y'all can just take my rec and live with it. please please PLEASE watch it it's one of the most beautiful dramas i've ever seen and all four of the main actors are absolutely incredible in it.

hello i just finished watching happiness last week and i cannot stop thinking about Sae Bom & Yi Hyun!!! Can you recommend some dramas with dynamic/chemistry like theirs?? LOVE YOUR BLOG BTW
yes!!!! i loved happiness so much /;3;/!!!
HM LET ME THINK. i dont know if these are exact matches, but the vibes are similar in various ways:
Tumblr media
lee ahn & yoon jae in from he is psychometric are high school friends who team up to solve horrendous crime and fall in love along the way! the dude is FLUFF personified. they have a back-to-back badass fight and also go on dates to make snowglobes for each other. i love them.
Tumblr media
goo se ra and gong myung from into the ring are eventually a power couple that fights corruption together, where the female lead is kind of a loveable gremlin (although they fight with LEGISLATION as opposed to fists)
Tumblr media
sweet home isn't a romance show, but jae heon and ji soo team up to fight monsters and there's plenty of ship tease (be warned, it's not a happy ending for them though)
Tumblr media
because this is my first life has ji ho & se hee, who get married for an apartment but fall in love for real
Tumblr media Tumblr media
& weightlifting fairy kim bok joo and fight for my way both have friends-to-lovers executed well!

hey hi helloo~ so,,,you kinda seem like you know lots of kdramas,,,,and i wanted to ask you,,,if you could recommend me some of your favorites? tbh anything would be fine kdjs it can be something where i can cry my heart and soul out or something really cute! that's totally up to you (but something where i can absolutely get emotionally invested in that it shatters my heart is what i probs need rn tbh 😩✊🏻)
this is my time to shine 🤓🤓🤓 i DEFINITELY CAN !!! esp for my favorite follower 😔💕 also this is gonna be pretty long bc i gave a lot of info for each drama so i’ll put a read more~!
_ MY PERSONAL FAVS _
go ho’s starry night- a chinese-korean collaboration drama starring snsd's yuri, kim youngkwang (the secret life of my secretary), and lee jihoon (legend of the blue sea) - go ho (yuri) is a dedicated worker who deals with her grumpy boss and quirky coworkers. she requests to be transferred to a different team, where she discovers her new boss is her ex-boyfriend, and then basically there forms a harem of 5 of her coworkers who all like her- super fluffy!! episodes are only about 15 minutes long each, and although there is angst, there's a lot more comedy and fluff. the relationship between the two main leads is adorable and had me squealing way more than once
put your head on my shoulder- a chinese drama starring fair xing (master devil do not kiss me) and lin yi- si tu mo is a bubbly girl who moves into a house only to find out that the owner's nephew (?), gu wei yi,  is already living there, and the two end up living together. si tu mo is sweet and outgoing, while gu wei yi is quiet and intellectual- SO cute. although the plot seems cliche, the focus is not really on them living together, that's just what brings them together originally, and the main lead isn't the stereotypical "cold and super smart asshole" type, he's actually very sweet. there are a lot of episodes but i would definitely recommend watching this!
like- a korean webdrama that you can find on youtube starring kim yu an, kim kangmin (maybe, maybe not), yoo jungwoo (love after school), and seo ji hye- about a group of students who create a film club to make youtube videos and the dumb shit they get into, plus there's some romance, betrayal, and fuckboys. - so so so so cute honestly. the dynamic between the characters of the club is so cute and funny, plus the love triangle has me wheezing. also the asshole fuckboy gets what he deserves which is super satisfying. it hasn't finished airing yet, but so far it's really cute
failing in love- korean webdrama  you can find on youtube starring son sang yeon (triple fling), yang hye ji, and shin yoon seop- about a group of high schoolers who deal with falling in love, crushes, rejection, etc.- ok so the summary i gave was pretty vague but that's because any more and i'd be exposing the whole plot. there is humor and fluff but also teenage angst, and the characters are all more complex than they first appear. i would highly recommend this show !!!
i have 3 boyfriends- short webdrama you can find on youtube starring kim ji eun, park sungwoo (produce 101 season 2 [that 30 year old dude who danced to rain's song OMG], moon jihoo, and lee jungsik - when la hi gets in a car accident and wakes up with amnesia she finds that she has 3 men all claiming to be her boyfriend.- OK LISTEN . this show is so funny and cute. let me just say: you MUST watch to the end. that's all i'll say. pLS WATCH
last minute romance- two episode drama special starring han seung yeon (age of youth) and lee seo won (the liar and his lover)- when baek se finds out she has terminal cancer and only has a short time to live, she desperately wants to complete her one bucket list item: date her favorite actor. it's then that she meets an aspiring actor who looks exactly like her favorite actor- so cute and very short, so you won't spend ages trying to finish. it is very fluffy, cute, and funny, but has an underlying tone of sadness because the main female lead has cancer and will eventually die. also her best friend is a monk??? the ending is bittersweet but very fitting
want more 19- a short webdrama you can find on youtube starring jung ha joon, sin gi hwan,  jeon yoo rim, nam yoon soo, and lee jungha- a story of 5 friends in high school. A mutual crush, a one-sided love, and a rough patch for sweethearts, all taking place right around the end their senior year- OH GOD i can't breathe this drama is so cute. it had me squealing every single episode, and it's very lighthearted with hardly any angst
splash splash love- a two episode drama starring kim seulgi (queen of the ring) and highlight's doojoon (radio romance)- right before her ksat, danbi is transported to the past during a freak rain shower and is mistaken for a eunich (which, in korean, is the same word for high school senior) . due to her knowledge of future math, the king enlists her to teach him mathematics and they fall in love- a lowkey parody/remake of the kdrama love in the moonlight but if you added time travel into the mix and took out nearly all the angst. SO cute and funny, and has a happy but open type ending
something about 1 percent (2016)- korean drama starring jeon so min and ha seokjin (drinking solo)- lee jae in is an arrogant company heir, whose wealthy grandfather who decides to grant all his wealth to a kindly elementary school teacher. to only way for anyone else to get the money is for someone to marry her, but they devise a contract that changes it to date for 10 months. although they hate each other at first, they eventually fall in love- this drama is super cute and the kisses are AMAZING. there are crazy exes and all that but the couple's dynamic is super cute and they quickly warm up to each other
triple fling (s1)- a short choose-your-own-ending  korean webdrama on youtube starring jung bomin, son sangyeon (failing in love), themanblk's jeongyou, and themanblk's eom sewoong- lee sehee accidentally becomes friends with the three most popular boys in school and ends up in a love square with them- alright im whipped for stuff like this so naturally i loved it. i also really liked how viewers could choose their own ending as for which boy she chose. there is a second season that i haven't seen yet that focuses on another girl in ANOTHER love square (containing one of the guys from sehee's love square) in which it shows which boy she actually did choose (and it was my favorite so . yay!)
weightlifting fairy kim bok joo- a korean drama starring lee sungkyung (cheese in the trap) and nam joohyuk (who are you: school 2015)- a drama about a female weightlifter who falls in love. persuing the relationship would jeopardize her weightlifting, and focusing on weightlifting would jeopardize her relationship with her crush.  she and her group of friends deal with one-sided crushes, athletic pressure, and self-love.- i watched this drama in full in only two days, and loved it. seriously, it's funny, cute, sad, and just a generally AWESOME drama. plus it takes a lot of cliches and makes fun of them or turns them on their head
when you love yourself (s1)- a short webdrama you can find on youtube starring jung mingyu (sweet revenge 2) and saet byeol . - about a girl who is heavier than her classmates who struggles with self-love and self-acceptance, and along the way finds love- god. i can't even explain how much i loved this drama. the message is wonderful and there's no moment where she glows up and loses weight and then gets the guy's attention or anything: he simply loves her as who she is, no matter what weight she is, and is supportive. there's also an episode that focuses on the queen bee girl who also struggles with weight and self-love and it's just beautiful
after school: lucky or not (s1)- short drama starring 5urprise: kang tae oh (my first first love), seo kang joon (are you human too), gong myung (drinking solo), lee taehwan (w: two worlds), and yoo il, as well as kim so eun (our gab soon)- when so eun gets an invite to the choose-your-mission club, she meets 5 chaotic guys that she becomes friends with, but there's something they aren't telling her.- yes, there is a lil romance and a love triangle HOHO. ok but seriously this drama is the most crackheadery i've ever seen like. genuinely i was just wheezing so hard every episode because of the dumb sh*t the guys were doing and so eun's reaction. this drama seems dumb and funny at first, but there are emotional moments as well as some angst relating to the love triangle and the origin of the club. please do watch this show !!! (don't recommend season 2, though)
accidentally in love - a chinese drama starring amy sun (the eternal love), fiction guo, and ma li- chen qingqing, who is raised by her grandfather) is arranged to be married, but wants to find love on her own terms. on the day of the wedding, she runs away to the university her parents attended to find out more about their death. to hide from her grandfather, she changes her appearance drastically and enters university. her new deskmate turns out to be singer si tu feng, whom she has already run into and has gotten off on the wrong foot with- so this drama was longer than the ones i usually watch but it was worth it. it was cute and they didn't drag out the couple not getting together for ages like some dramas tend to do. the romance was super cute and the female lead's undeterred determination to march to her own drummer was amusing. the only thing i didn't like is that they didnt give the side couple enough screentime bc they were super cute too
my woofy poofy love / my dog-like dating- a short korean webdrama you can find on youtube starring chae ji an and kim do hoon (your imagination becomes reality)- a girl who has recently been cruelly dumped by her boyfriend brings a stray dog back to her home and wakes up to find that instead of a dog, there is a man! she happens to be looking for a roommate, and so this man (who can turn into a dog) becomes her new housemate- literally adorable. female lead is stunning and the relationship is so cute and fluffy and innocent, but the kiss is steamy as hell.
unrequited love (2019)- a chinese drama starring zhu yan man zi and zhao shun ran- a story of a girl who has secretly loved the same boy for 10 years, but he doesn't know she exists, until one day when they meet in college. so begins their love story, but things become more complicated because of other people- ok so like . damn i love this couple. this drama is really cute but has its fair share of angst, so don't expect an easy ride the whole way through. very cute though !!_ MORE DRAMA RECS _
a love so beautiful- a chinese drama starring shen yue (meteor garden) and hu yi tuan- chen xiaoxi has liked her neighbor jiangchen onesidedly for years, and continues to like him despite his seeming disinterest. but her determination and bubbly personality, as well as a romantic threat starts to cause him to fall for her- aight so . i feel like this drama was dragged out a little bit longer than necessary and then the ending was slightly rushed but!! it WAS a great and super cute drama
ok to be sensitive (s1)- a webdrama you can find on youtube starring kim da ye and kim youngdae (extraordinary you) and others im too lazy to put- focuses on feminist issues like sexism and sexual harassment in a college setting, which each episode focusing on one particular incident and the characters dealing with it- listen so like . this show had me emotional at some points bc of how amazing the message was. it dealt with sexual harassment, sexism, how females are expected to act, stalking, pressure to have sex... etc and basically every episode was like . you can stand up for yourself. you don’t have to “take it” just bc you’re a female, etc. also there was really cute romance uwu
ok to be sensitive (s2)- season 2 of otbs, also can be found on youtube, starring yoo hye in and lee shin young, as well as others but again im too lazy to list them all- same thing as season 1, but a different cast of main characters, and set in an office workplace. (original cast makes a cameo at the end)- the issues in season 2 were definitely a bit darker because it was set in a work place, where the main characters were worried about getting fired if they stood up for themselves, but the way things were handled was really admirable imo. also the male lead in this one is ABSOLUTELY adorable
go back diary- a 4 episode webdrama you can find on youtube starring kim ye ji and lee jong won (jaemin’s webdrama how to hate you)- about a boy who sees a girl at a karaoke bar (?) and instantly develops a crush on her. she then transfers to his school, and it tells the story of their love story after 10 years.- i’ll just say it right now. the whole drama was adorable except for the ending, which fucking sucked. literally was horrible. boycott episode 4 pls i was SO UPSET. otherwise, great webdrama
before we get married- taiwanese drama starring puff guo (just you; we got married w/ suju’s heechul) and jasper liu- tells the story of two people who already have partners and are planning to marry them, only to meet each other and fall in love- bro this show had so much angst i couldn’t even breathe lmfao. but the romantic scenes between the two leads were S T E A M Y let me TELL you.
love after school (s1)- korean webdrama that can be found on youtube starring park so eun and yoo jungwoo (like)- about a couple who fell in love in high school and their story, told from 5 years later when they meet again- i love love love this bitch. LOVE. season 2 ... we won’t speak of her lol. but season 1 is super cute and the ???? kiss at the end(ish)??? DEAD. literally anything with yoo jungwoo will destroy me but omg. it was fantastic
lucky romance- a korean drama starring hwang jung eum (she was pretty) and ryu joon yeol (reply 1988) - about a woman who believes wholeheartedly in superstitions meeting a man who believes only in science and mathematics, and their very chaotic love story- this show was so funny tbh. the main couple’s dynamic was HILARIOUS and even though they were literally complete opposites they worked so well together. warning: towards the end there’s that whole ‘i have to be noble and let you go bc its for the best’ bullshit but!!! there is a happy ending
maybe, maybe not- a webdrama starring kim kangmin (like) and gong yoorim- a girl who can read minds and is an outside bc she knows what everyone is really thinking meets a guy that she can’t read the mind of- so fluffy. so cute. oh god. pls watch it’s so soft and cute
my first first love- a korean drama starring jisoo (strong woman dbs), dia’s chaeyeon (drinking solo), and b1a4′s jinyoung (love in the moonlight)- about a group of friends who all, due to various circumstances, move into their friend tae oh’s house, and find love along the way.- idk why netflix did that dumbass thing where they did mffl 1 and mffl 2 but they’re the same show, just eps 1-8 then 8-16. anyways !! very cute show!! jisoo is fine as hell. taeoh and the rich girl are cute together. i found the ending abrupt and unsatisfying, but overall a good show
thumping spike (s1)- a korean drama starring hwang seung eon (part-time idol) and song jae rim (our gab soon) - about a volleyball team and their coach who are aiming for success, and a female professional volleyball player who becomes their athletic mentor- i know it doesnt sound super romantic but trust me. there is lots of romance, and even a love triangle hehe
u-prince: the single lawyer- a thai drama apart of the u-prince series starring august vachiravit paisarnkulwong and apple lapisara intarasu- firstclass is a straight a student who is strict about punctuality and properness, while minute is a spoiled rich girl who loses all her luxuries when her family files for bankruptcy. she begins “going out” with her gay best friend, aka firstclass’ brother, for money and ends up living in their house, but she and firstclass hate each other- listen all the u prince dramas are cringy and low quality but does it look like a give a shit . NO BC I KEEP WATCHING THEM . they’re cute ok . anyways this was my favorite one so this is the one im recommending yeehaw
unexpected heroes- a short korean drama sponsored by the CDC organ transplant management center, starring btob’s minhyuk, ioi’s sohye, and choi jonghoon- about three high school students who discover that, after their respective organ transplants, they have supernatural powers- though there’s not much focus on romance in this drama, it’s still funny and cute. plus minhyuk is in it and what more can you ask for ?? lol. anyways the trio uses their powers to help solve crimes n stuff it’s gr8 and ive been waiting for a season 2 for 98429834 years
what to do with you- a korean webdrama - that is actually literally an ad for a facemask - starring lee hayoung and kim youngdae (extraordinary you)- saerom and geun are friends, but it feels like they’re something more. will they ever take the next step?- yeah this webdrama is super cute and that’s really all lol. also the bitchy girl in love after school is the best friend in this one oho
your imagination becomes reality- a webdrama that can be found on youtube starring oh se young, kim dohoon (my woofy poofy love), and jin ho eun- soram has a crush on a mysterious upperclassman, and wishes to see him again: she does, soon after. each time she makes a wish, it seems to magically come true. - yeah so like . it’s not a supernatural thing or anything, it’s just a cute college romance that’s basically every girl with a crush’s dream lol~!

I finished Angel’s Last Mission: Love last night. This will have spoilers, so if you haven’t watched it, and don’t like spoilers don’t read on!
Tumblr media
I actually watched the whole series within 2 nights because I just couldn’t stop watching it LOL It was so good. So full of fluff, and cute, and emotional rollercoaster. I really really loved it.
I am a bit sad that we didn’t get to see more of the “final stage” since everything they did together before was more of a “We have to enjoy it as long as we can because the time is limited” kind of feeling. But after all this sob-fest of the last 4-6 episodes, I was happy that they got their happy end.
I was thoroughly impressed with seeing how much Myung Soo and Hye Sun have grown when it comes to their acting since the last time I saw them in a drama. Seriously, they moved my heart so so much, they should get some awards for that.
I liked basically all characters - even though the uncle was a little too cut-out for me would have liked more depth. But my definite honorable mention goes to Kim In Kwon as Archangel Hoo. I loved seeing him grow and change thanks to Dan and Yeon Seo, going from this opposing "You can’t do this”‘ to being their biggest supporter. That scene at the wedding? So cute and so touching. I can also imagine that In Kwon had a ton of fun getting into all these different costumes for his illusions, it did look awesome. His ending was the moment that I started to sob and there were only few moments after that when I didn‘t. Taking on that sin instead of Dan, saving his life and making sure he has another chance... damn that’s love right there. And that letter! When that didn’t go up in flames I squealed. I told my partner after only a few episodes that Hoo will be elemental to the outcome and I am happy I was right.
So yeah, I loved this series. I considered watching “One Spring Night” next but I need a more light and funny show to calm down my nerves and tear ducts before that, so I started “Love Alert”. Let’s see when I can think about ALMLwithout tearing up. There are some dramas that still have that effect on me, so this will surely be one of them.

Out of All the Stars
Tumblr media
GIF Credit to: ygo-gx
Pairing: Moo Myung/Sun Woo (Park Seo Joon) X Reader
Genre: angst & fluff
Word Count: 3,666 (omg idk how i feel about this number)
Request: A scenario with Sun Woo, where the reader likes him and is always around him and trying to get his attention, but he only ever pays attention to Ah Ro (He basically friendzoned the reader) so when she gives up and stops trying to get close to him, like she doesn't walk with him or says hi, he realizes what he did and goes to the reader? - anonymous
Seeing a group of young men in uniforms crossing the bridge, you squinted your eyes for sight of the one person you were waiting for all morning. He was someone special to you, and ever since the formation of Hwarang, you didn’t meet him as often as you liked. Although he wasn’t with you most of the time, you thought of him at least once every single day.
It was only after most of the elites walked passed you that you finally spotted that person behind. With your hands waving excitedly up in the air, you called his name, “Sun Woo! Sun Woo! Over here!”
When he heard your voice, Sun Woo looked over in your direction and grinned, waving back at you. Your heart melted. He looked so handsome. It reminded you of the first time you found him at Okta. Your friends had invited you to hear Ah Ro’s storytelling, and you agreed to tag along. For some reason, a fight broke out, and Sun Woo appeared, getting in between to stop the fight. Watching him made your heart beat a little faster. Curious about who he was, you asked around, and no one knew at the time. They’ve never seen him until that night. Later, some of your friends told you that Sun Woo was actually Ah Ro’s brother, but you were quite skeptical. Something about their relationship didn’t make sense to you.
You met Sun Woo a few times afterwards at Ah Ro’s home when your mother would have you go around Seorabeol to run errands, including getting medicine from Ah Ro’s place. As soon as you found out that Sun Woo stayed there, you usually stuck around for a little longer than you needed to in order to talk to him. You wanted to get to know him more and because of the extra time, the both of you grew closer, becoming great friends.
Before he was admitted to become a Hwarang, the days that he was still home, there were times when the two of you would go on walks together in the early morning, right when the sun would peek out from the horizon. It was your favorite thing to look forward to, and maybe Sun Woo found it easy to trust you. You weren’t sure yourself. Surprisingly, one of those days, Sun Woo confessed that he wasn’t Ah Ro’s brother at all.
He thought he was going to have to keep it a secret from everyone for as long as he lived. You were the first friend that he made after Ah Ro’s real brother was killed, and Sun Woo didn’t have the heart to keep that secret from you. Even Ah Ro herself didn’t know that, so now you had to keep that secret for as long as you lived.
“Are you going to wait for me every time I come back to Seorabeol, (Y/N)?” Sun Woo asked with a smile as he approached you.
“I want to be the first face you see after staying in the Hwarang House,” you said. “How long are you staying in the village this time before going back?”
Sun Woo thought about it and raised up the number of fingers. “Three days.”
Three days, you thought. You had three days to spend with Sun Woo before he had to return to the Hwarang House. “Are you hungry? I didn’t eat yet. We should go eat together!”
“Thank goodness. I’m starving,” Sun Woo groaned, patting his stomach. He glanced behind him before looking back at you. “I’m sure Ah Ro is hungry, too. She’s a little slow, but she’ll be here soon. The three of us can go get lunch.”
You blinked, registering his words a second late before you accidentally blurted out, “What?”
As much as you liked Ah Ro, you weren’t sure how to answer since you had actually planned for only you and Sun Woo to go to the nearby restaurant. Still, you knew that there would be a chance that Sun Woo wouldn’t agree to go with you if Ah Ro wasn’t with him. He usually stuck around her like glue. Instead of refusing like you secretly wanted, you mustered the most animated smile you could manage. “Oh. Yeah! Sure. The three of us can go.”
I think I’m going to have indigestion, you thought to yourself as you watched the scene in front of you unfold. Sun Woo continued to place side dishes into Ah Ro’s rice bowl, encouraging her to eat a lot. You didn’t know which was worst - if Sun Woo was or wasn’t related to Ah Ro. As a brother or a lover, he still cared for Ah Ro a lot. You couldn’t help but feel like an outsider between them. Glancing down at Sun Woo’s bowl, you found that his was still full. He was too busy trying to feed Ah Ro, that he wasn’t even eating himself.
With your pair of chopsticks, you picked up some meat and piled them onto Sun Woo’s rice. “Eat,” you said, before looking away from the two and poking your own bowl.
“Yeah, Sun Woo. I can feed myself,” Ah Ro assured. “You need to eat, too. Stop letting (Y/N) take care of you like a baby.”
“(Y/N) isn’t like a mom taking care of a baby.” Sun Woo hummed in thought and then snapped his fingers, pointing at you with a mischievous smile. “She’s more of a servant taking care of a king?”
“King, my-” You grabbed your spoon and used the back of it to hit Sun Woo’s head. He let out a yelp, rubbing the same spot the spoon landed. Ah Ro burst into laughter.
“Serves you right,” you and Ah Ro teased in unison.
“Wow, (Y/N). I was going to introduce you to some of my friends at Okta later tonight, but you can forget it,” Sun Woo murmured.
“I’m not interested in any of your friends, Sun Woo,” you said, rolling your eyes. “I barely even go to Okta. Besides, I have to help my mother with some sewing. If anything, if there is time at night, I’ll stop by Sutabaksu for tea.”
“Oh? We should go for tea together, (Y/N),” Ah Ro said.
Sun Woo was taken aback. “Wait, Ah Ro. Weren’t you going to do some storytelling at Okta? That’s the only reason I had agreed to go to Okta with Soo Ho and Yeo Wool in the first place.”
Of course it was.
“Well, I don’t know... I think I’d rather have tea...”
You shared a nervous laugh. You knew that if Ah Ro joined you, Sun Woo would follow. As much as you would’ve liked to see Sun Woo again, the feeling of you sitting around while he and Ah Ro were together made you a little uncomfortable. “Actually, it’s not a sure thing. My mother will be needing a lot of help, so I might not even go.”
Sun Woo knocked Ah Ro on the head lightly with his knuckles. “If you don’t want to Okta, you and I can go to Sutabaksu together then.”
You definitely weren’t feeling hungry anymore.
“What about Soo Ho and Yeo Wool?”
Quickly, you stood up from the table, causing the other two to look up at you, confused. You smiled uneasily. “Sorry. I still have to head to the market to pick up some things before heading home. I’ll talk to you tomorrow, okay?”
You started to reach for your small coin pouch to pay when Sun Woo stopped you by reaching for your hand. When he touched you, you felt your whole face start to heat. “Don’t worry, (Y/N). You can go ahead. I got it.”
“Thank you,” you mumbled, shyly.
Sun Woo smiled. “And we shall meet tomorrow, correct? Early in the morning?”
“Of course.” You nodded your head. Waving goodbye to Sun Woo and Ah Ro, you hurried out of the restaurant, catching a breath.
When evening came, you were already sitting in the middle of the room with your mother, various fabrics laid around the two of you. You started on a new attire when you looked over at your mom who was working at a very experienced pace. “Oooh, Mother. That hanbok is looking very pretty. I’m sure a lot of maidens around here will like it,” you praised.
“It’s for you, dear,” your mother answered. She stopped working the needle and looked over at you with a warm smile. “Did you go see the boy you like again today?”
You let out a laugh. “Mother...”
“What? It’s not like you were talking about him a million times and every time the Hwarangs come back to the village,” she teased.
“Yes, I did see him. Just for a little bit.”
“If you like him, you should let him know.”
You push the fabrics aside and spread your body out on the floor, head on top of your mother’s lap. With a sigh, you replied, “I’m with him every chance I get. I deliver what seems to be the most obvious clues. How is it that he never figures any of them out? He may have affection for another lady.”
Your mother brushed the stray hairs in front of your face back. “Unless he says so himself that there is another in his heart, I think it is wrong for my beautiful daughter to give up. You just never know when it comes to love.”
“I don’t know about love, but I just know that I really really really have feelings for him.”
“You mother has a suggestion. How about when you go on your morning walk with the fine young man tomorrow, you wear this hanbok? Also, that hairpiece that you really like? You’ll look even more beautiful.”
“Am I not beautiful now, Mother?” you whined, feigning hurt.
With a lighthearted laugh, your mother softly slapped your arm, gesturing you to sit up straight and get back to work. Your heart jumped with joy, ready for the next morning with you and just Sun Woo.
Rising even earlier than usual, you put on the soft light blue hanbok that your mother had laid out last night. The dress fit you perfectly. You gathered the top half of your hair and turned it into a bun, sticking your favorite floral hairpin to secure. With your mother still sleeping soundly, you quietly ambled out to the door and slid the door closed behind you.
The sun wasn’t out until a short time later, so the morning air around you was quite chilly. You sat out on the large low table outside of your home, waiting for Sun Woo to come by like he always did. Where should we walk to today? The lake nearby the castle? Maybe we could walk to Dayiseo to shop afterwards?
“Where is he?” you asked moments later when Sun Woo had still yet to show up at his usual time. “Don’t tell me he is still asleep...”
You looked across your view. The dark blue sky was slowly being replaced with a lighter blue, and the slight yellow-orange of the sun was starting to poke out. Deciding not to wait any longer, you stood up and headed for Ah Ro’s home.
By the time you arrived, the half of the sun was visible. You noticed that no one was outside. Just then, the door opened, and Ah Ro’s father stepped out. “Oh, (Y/N),” the physician greeted, a little surprised. “You’ve come to pick up medicine early today?”
You shook your head politely. “Oh no, Ah Ro’s father. I actually came for Sun Woo... Is he here?”
“Ah, Sun Woo. No, Sun Woo isn’t here. He and Ah Ro just went to the market to get some things for dinner later tonight. They might come back soon, so you can wait for them if you’d like.”
“That’s fine, sir. I actually have somewhere to go, too. I thought Sun Woo would be here, so I wanted to talk to him first. But I’ll just come back some time later. Thank you.”
Instead of going on a morning walk with Sun Woo as you planned, you ended up walking by yourself. You couldn’t help but be mad at Sun Woo. If he didn’t want to go with you, he could’ve just said so. That was way better than you having to going to him yourself and finding out he was with Ah Ro. Even with your bad mood, you tried to enjoy your walk. The birds in the trees chirped on your way to the lake. You looked out to see the sun reflected onto the still water. That helped calm you down.
“i bet if I jumped into the lake, he still would have eyes only for Ah Ro,” you said to no one in particular.
“True. I only have only eyes for Ah Ro.”
Not expecting an answer back, you jumped at the voice that replied to you. Once you saw the familiar face, you placed a hand on your heart and became mad again. “Hey! You scared me! Why would you do that?! Crazy!”
“Crazy?” Ji Dwi chuckled, amused. “I’m not the one talking to myself.”
“Not funny.”
Ji Dwi shrugged, taking place right next to you, sharing you view of the pretty lake. “Are you really thinking of jumping?”
“Then I’d really be crazy,” you said, rolling your eyes.
“Aren’t you supposed to be with Sun Woo right now?” Ji Dwi asked. You shot him a look, and it was like a light bulb lit above his head. “Oh... I see.” He nudged your arm. “See, this is why you shouldn't have abandoned me and been all over him. You’re basically doing to me what he’s doing to you.”
“What? Do you like me?” you deadpanned.
“Oh, shivers just went up my spine!” Ji Dwi exclaimed as he rubbed his arms. “You can’t just go around saying things like that. I like you as a friend and you will ever only be a companion to me, (Y/N).”
“Likewise, friend,” you said. “See, when you refer to me as a friend, I have no feelings towards you. When Sun Woo does it...”
You sighed and let out a frustrated noise. Ji Dwi stood and laughed at your actions. “Okay. From today onward, I am going to ignore Sun Woo. I have put in all this effort just to be called a friend, so I am done.”
“Really?”
“I don’t know!” you admitted. “But I’m going to put in as much effort to avoiding him at all costs. No more morning walks or anything like that.” Without saying a word of goodbye to Ji Dwi, you marched on, starting the day determinedly by yourself.
Instead of returning home for breakfast with your mother, you decided to go to the restaurant for your meal. You knew if Sun Woo remembered his meeting with you, he would be either waiting for you at your place or at the lake. Or still with Ah Ro. Either way, you didn’t want to see him.
Most of the day, you were out in the village, entering and leaving of stores. Dayiseo was really popular, so you always stopped in there. You were looking at the newly made hairpins when a familiar voice entered the store. You froze before looking near the entrance. Sun Woo! You hurried and returned the hairpin where it belonged. With your heart thumping in your chest, shocked, you rushed out of the store in hopes he didn’t see you.
“(Y/N)?” Sun Woo said when he spotted a figure that looked just like you dart out of Dayiseo. He tilted his head, unsure whether it was you or not. If it was, why were you running away instead of saying hello like you always did? Must not be her, Sun Woo thought. He was about to forget about it all until he remembered something else that he forgot. His eyes widened. “Oh no.”
You were able to avoid Sun Woo for the rest of the day. You stayed home. He did come by, but thankfully, your mother told him that you were out with some friends the whole day. Maybe it was better that you didn’t stick around Sun Woo and Ah Ro. That would mean you wouldn’t hurt your own feelings. Were you though? Were you protecting your heart by trying to cut ties? How did you know it wasn’t going to hurt you more?
Since you figured you wouldn’t go on morning walks any longer, you decided to sleep in a little longer. Only, your mother ended waking you up anyway. “(Y/N), it is rude if you let him stay outside to wait for you. Either you talk to him or send him home.”
“Can’t you do it, Mother?”
“I’m sure he deserves to at least hear it from you. Dear. He’s returning to the Hwarang House tomorrow. The things that need to be taken care of today.... they need to be taken care of today so wake up.”
You let out a tired groan, rolling out of your mattress.
“Go home,” you said with a frown as soon as you stepped outside.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N)! I really am. I didn’t mean to forget about yesterday. Can we please talk somewhere else?” Sun Woo asked desperately.
“Mother,” you turned around and called. “It’s not working! He’s not leaving!”
“(Y/N), please.”
“You’re not sorry. How could you be sorry when you forgot to meet with me so that you could spend time with your Ah Ro?”
“It wasn’t even like that. Her father asked for some things at the market, and I thought it was a lot. I wanted to give her a hand or else she’d be carrying heavy bags by herself. I thought you’d understand and at least forgive me for that little thing, (Y/N).”
“Well, I don’t, Sun Woo! Because I have always let all those little things go. You know who wakes up every morning just to be with you? I do. You know who takes you home from Okta whenever you get drunk? I do. Because Ah Ro was always still telling her stories. You know who waits for you every time you comeback from the Hwarang House? I do. You know who gives you attention whenever Ah Ro doesn’t? I do.”
You bit your bottom lip back, what you usually do to stop tears. Sun Woo watched you silently.
“You know what you did whenever I invite you to go somewhere with me? Go to Ah Ro. Okta? You drink for Ah Ro. Dayiseo? You buy things for Ah Ro.”
You blinked the first few tears away, looking away from Sun Woo.
“I know. I know you never asked me to do any of the things I do, Sun Woo. The reason why I do it is because I like you.” You took a breath before exhaling, shakily, “I like you, fool. But you probably do the things for Ah Ro because you have affection for her. So, please... please let me know if you have feelings for her so that I know to stop mine for you.”
Wiping you tears away, you turned around, embarrassed to have him see you crying.
“Please go home, Sun Woo...”
When you heard the footsteps behind you move farther and farther from your home, you couldn’t help but break into a sob. Your mother opened up the door and walked over to you. She wrapped her arms around you and pet your hair. “Oh, (Y/N). My beautiful daughter.”
The way stars twinkled in the night sky always left people in awe. There were millions and millions of them lighting up, flickering as if they were sending some kind of message. As you laid outside on the large low table in front of your home, you continued to watch the stars. “Make sure you come inside soon before you catch a cold, (Y/N),” your mother said from inside.
“Yes, Mother.”
You began to sit up when you found someone standing in front of your home’s entrance. Sun Woo slowly walked towards you, closing the space between you two. “Can I sit?” he asked.
You nodded your head, and he took the seat next to you. You looked at him. “Why are you here?”
“To apologize. I realized I really didn’t apologize earlier, and I wanted to do it before tomorrow... I’m sorry, (Y/N). Ah Ro... I have no feelings for her. I mean, I do, but it’s not the way you think. I don’t know how to explain it. I care for her a lot, and it feels like I have to take care of her a lot. Ever since her real brother... I feel like I owe him at least that. He can’t be there for her, so I should.”
“How do you know that you’re just not making that as an excuse because you actually like her?” you asked, still unable to make eye contact with him.
“Because after you yelled at me and made me go home, I spent that time thinking. I guess that helped because I figured some things out.”
“Like what?”
Sun Woo hands reached out hesitantly at first, but then he gathered courage and held one of your hands. He smiled.
“My heart went towards someone. It told me, ‘no one but her.’ Even when she’s not the nice to look at when she’s crying, it can’t be anyone but her.“
He placed his other hand on top of yours. Not only was your hand warm, but you were so sure your face was once again.
“I know I messed up, but please let me make it up to you, (Y/N). I leave tomorrow, but when I come back, I’ll treat you better than a queen.”
You glanced up at the sky, watching the stars twinkle.
With a smile, you replied, “I’ll be waiting for you near the bridge, as always.”

Silver Lining
chapter 20 (sexy things warning)
Young-Do knew that they were deliberately letting work take over their evenings in the wake of what happened. He’d listened to Eun-Sang yell at her friend and felt a little bit of awe. He could never talk to any of his friends like that. He only had Myung-Soo now but he still wouldn’t dare.
About a week later, when his day finished more or less on time, he went home and disliked the emptiness of their house without her. He sat down to dinner and tried to distract himself with the reports he’d been too tired to read before he left but it didn’t work.
Finally, when the cook was clearing away the meal, he asked, “Will you box this up for me? I want to take it to Eun-Sang.”
“Of course, President Choi.” He didn’t have to wait long before she had the meal packed up and him in a car within fifteen minutes. Young-Do was a bit relieved to find her headquarters mostly devoid of employees while he rode the glass elevator to her office. He found her alone, hunched over her desk, clearly trying to work through something that needed her focus.
He tentatively knocked on the open door and tried to ignore how easily she smiled when her mind recognized him. Young-Do held up the cooler their cook put together for her. “Ha-Jin made too much and I know how you feel about throwing food away.”
“You brought me dinner.” She stood and came around her desk. Eun-Sang pulled him down for a kiss and he was reminded how long it had been since they fucked. She apparently noticed, too, because she giggled. “Set it down on my desk. I can get to it later.”
Young-Do put it down and didn’t protest her pushing him over to her couch until she knocked him over the arm and onto it mid-kiss. She smelled so good as she climbed on top of him. “Wait. I don’t have a condom and if I pull out, we’ll make a mess. You don’t have the right kind of staff to clean that up.”
“I might have one in my purse. Just a second.” She climbed off of him and he laid back for a few seconds and told himself he could wait until they got home when she gave this adorable, petulant sigh. “I thought I had a sample of one of the female condoms. I’m on birth control and we are married.”
“I’ve never used those. Supposedly, they’re more comfortable.” He sat up and adjusted himself before going back over to her desk. Her glare at her purse was also adorable. “We are married.”
“I can’t believe you brought me food at work without the intention of making it a booty call. Are you bored with my ass? I thought it was cute.”
“What did I do to deserve this playfulness?” His eyebrows went up as she started unzipping her pants. If she was alright with the lack of condom and had faith in her birth control, then he wasn’t going to protest any further. Not when he was hard and aching for her.
“I got an invitation to bid for an American brand Rachel likes. They want to break into our markets. I’ve been focused on setting up the trip and putting together the marketing package. It’s the kind of thing, if I won it, would go a long way to repairing the damage my father left me with. I need a distraction tonight while I wait for an email. Distract me.” She shimmied out of her pants and left them on her office chair before she once more, walked him back to her couch.
This time, he didn’t let her knock him back. He lifted her up and deliberately sat down with her thighs clenched tightly against his hips as he got his pants open and pulled her panties down enough so they could join together.
Eun-Sang shuddered as she groaned inside their kiss. She lightly bit his lip as he stroked his hands over her thighs and cupped her ass as she started riding him harder than he’d ever been before. Maybe it was a little bit desperate but he enjoyed the way she swore when he teased his fingers against her very wet flesh.
He felt her come twice before he had his own release. She slumped against him and bowed her head to his shoulder. “I really needed that,” she whimpered as he lifted her off of him and put her panties back on. “I’m hungry.”
Young-Do tried to fluff her hair and searched for the tie he knocked loose. He found it on the floor and handed it to her after closing up his pants. He went over to her desk and grabbed the containers of japchae, noodles, and rice. He brought it over to her and set them on the coffee table before sitting down. Eun-Sang put her legs in his lap while she laid back and stared at the ceiling.
What the fuck were they supposed to talk about after that? It didn’t feel special but it had been intense.
“We haven’t seen your parents since the wedding. Do we need to visit?” Eun-Sang shook her head as Young-Do started massaging her calves for want of something to do with his hands. She reached over and picked up the rice bowl and her spoon. “Are you leading the team?”
“Supervising. I’m going to sit in on the meetings to lend my support and so the brand knows that we’re taking this seriously. We’re competing with The Parks.”
He winced and glanced down at her. She managed not to get food all over herself while half propped up on the arm of the couch. “You are the native company. You’re much more capable than Shawn Park.”
“I’m going up against Michael,” she wrinkled her nose. “We had a class together during my year in the United States. He helped me with my English. He’s ruthless and not going to take pity on me because of my father’s gambling scandal.”
“Emphasize that he’s too new to this market and thinks like an American.” She raised her eyebrows at him and he shrugged. “It’s true. I can get you some numbers on that, if you’d like. I’ve got a good opposition research team.”
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. “I need one of those.”
“Use mine.” He said it to her feet and couldn’t look at her. He was too uncomfortable so he set her legs aside and stood. He went over to her mini-fridge and pulled them both out a bottle of water. He brought it to her just as her computer beeped that an email had arrived. “We’re married. That’s what it’s there for. I’ll talk to them in the morning.”
Eun-Sang took the water and drank nearly all of it before going over to her desk. She put her pants back on before writing a reply. “Okay. We can go home now. Just a warning, I might fall asleep on you.”
“Not a problem. I didn’t drive myself.” He felt exhausted and ready to fall asleep, too. He packed everything up and once she had her purse and tablet, they walked down the parking garage together. He got his arm around her waist when she leaned against him.
Young-Do dozed during the ride home and tried not to enjoy the fact she had her head in his lap by the time they got onto the main roads. He carried her inside, ignoring her mumbled protests, before setting her in bed.
He showered and when he came back, she had tried to undress herself, but failed to get her blouse off of one arm and her pants were stuck on her feet. She’d fallen back asleep during her attempt to undress. Young-Do tried not to laugh as he went over to her and finished the task for her.
Then he got a warm, damp washcloth and wiped her down. She wasn’t wearing any makeup so he didn’t have to worry about that. He brushed out her hair and then covered her up with the blankets before going back into the bathroom to finish cleaning up himself. When he came back, she’d stolen all of the blankets.
Rather than fight with her, he went to the linen closet and pulled out a fresh duvet for himself. He climbed into bed but still felt restless. He shouldn’t. It was a good orgasm with her. The interlude was a new experience for him. He’d never had a woman just take what she wanted like that. He took several deep breaths and focused on bringing his heart rate down before he closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Curse you, tumblr -.- But awww visiting family must be nice ^^ I've been good. I'm kinda busy with school a lot and I keep saying the wave of work will be over soon but it doesn't look like it will be :'D But I'm a master's student and I have another year before I'm free and have to grow up haha. Ohhhh they're such dorks omg. Myung especially. I love how much he's opened up the last few years? Like he's such a dorky little fluff and I need caterpillar soo framed on my wall somewhere 1/?
And sunggyu TT Are you ready for his solo??? I feel like I was barely able to process that it’s happening and then a wave of teasers hit and I’m just so….TT My bias is Woohyun tho, but it’s so hard not to love them all lol. Actually I was asked that question too and I had also said singapore! I’ve never actually been, but when I studied abroad, one of my close friends was from singapore and she told me all about it and I really wanna go! 2/?
also, unrelated but I saw your banner was hyungsik and I freaking love ittt. SWDBS is one of my faves. What dramas do you like? 3/3
Hi again! Yeah… My sister and I are twins, and the only siblings, so getting to spend 4 days alone with her was something I needed ^^
What are you doing your Master’s in? Is it research/thesis based or course based? I just graduated from my undergrad and I’ve been applying to grad school for next year… I actually wish being a student was a professional job, I love learning and want to stay in school forever! (Although I could do without assignments and exams ^^)
OMG yes! I feel like we have seen the last of L? Myungsoo became my bias because in Sesame Player he was so awkward and stupid and I loved that side of him.
Sunggyu’s solo… Did you see the long version teaser yet? I was sad we didn’t get a tease on more vocals. His voice literally owns my soul and I love the genre of songs he does, as it’s more my style, so a full album is wicked awesome! I’m just sad it’s because he’s probably leaving for the army soon (I think I read he was going to enlist sometime this year?). I hope he has a decent promotion period and appears on some variety shows. It sucked that the Tell Me promos were quite short, it seemed like it ended when it just began!
How long have you been a fan of Infinite’s? And why is Woohyun your bias? I got into them in the end of 2011/beginning of 2012. I first saw them in Sesame Player and never looked back. My sister was so shocked at how quickly I changed my bias group because I never really change favourites.
That’s crazy we both thought of Singapore! It’s honestly such a great place to go, so you must find time to visit. There may not be a lot of physical places to visit, but it’s easy to fly to the other islands… Plus the food is honestly worth it. Where did you go on exchange? And if you don’t mind me asking, where are you from? (I’m from Canada.)
Drama wise… I don’t have a particular genre. I just look for good plots and good acting. But some of my faves are: Suspicious Partner, Healer, Black, Master’s Sun, Just Between Lovers… And I can’t remember any other that I really love. SWDBS was okay, I loved the chemistry between Park Bo Young and Hyungsik, but some parts of the plot just really frustrated me because there were holes and I hate them. What are some of your favourite dramas?

Thoughts and Dreams
A Moon Lovers/Scarlet Heart Ryeo Fanfic
Goryeo Set - AU. Wang So and Hae Soo contemplate their impending marriage as they get ready to meet for the very first time... at their wedding. Fluff. No angst of any kind. Basically, what if Soo and So never met before, and fall for each other at first sight on the day of their wedding
“Do you know anything about him, Unnie?”
Myung Hee paused in the middle of packing the last of Hae Soo’s ribbons and hair ornaments in a pretty, carved box. “I’ve only met him a few times, Soo-yah. I know what everyone else knows.”
“He’s the fourth son of our King, grew up in Shinju as an adopted member of the Kang Clan, and has distinguished himself in battle,” Hae Soo recited. It was the same things she had been hearing since the King announced the marriage three months ago.
She knew there was more, things she had only caught in half whispers when she took lessons at the Damiwon with Court Lady Oh to learn palace etiquette.
Dangerous.
Scarred.
Cruel.
“That’s right, a powerful man with two powerful clans behind him.” Myung Hee said in a tone that admonished Soo to remember that.
Like she could forget it when everyone kept reminding her of it. Queen Hwangbo barely spared her a glance when the announcement was made. Queen Yoo – Prince Wang So’s mother – hadn’t even acknowledged her when she had gone to pay her respects; and Princess Yeon Hwa threw it in her face that she wasn’t fit to join the royal family each time they crossed paths these days.
“I’ve asked Jung and Baek Ah and even Eun.” Soo said, naming the youngest princess, who most often were in residence in the palace and whom she had befriended over the years.
“Come here, let me brush your hair.” Myung Hee said when her cousin paused. Soo complied and sat on a stool before her. “And, what have they told you?” She asked curiously.
“Jung said he’s a good fighter and general.” Jung had said it in an almost detached, impersonal tone though the 4th Prince was his full brother. However, his voice held a hint of reluctant, begrudging admiration. “Baek Ah said he’s hard to get to know, but can be kind if a bit possessive of what he regards as his.”
‘Wait until you meet him, Soo-yah, give him time. He has seen and done things you and I can’t even imagine’, Baek Ah had added.
“And Eun?”
“He didn’t have much to say, other than the 4th prince had been patient with him when his other brothers had despaired over the fact he couldn’t learn the steps to the exorcism rite. Soon Deok-ah does know him though: her father trained him. She said he wasn’t like the other officers that frowned upon having a girl train with the rest of the men...that he was fair, and that her father thinks very highly of him.”
“The Grand General doesn’t give compliments easily.” Myung Hee commented, braiding Soo’s hair loosely.
Soo nodded but added, “I’m nervous, Unnie.”
“Every bride is nervous before her wedding, Soo-yah.” Myung Hee pulled her into a comforting hug.
“That’s what Lady Oh said too.” Soo grumbled, snuggling in.
Myung Hee had been the one source of constant love and support in this life. Once upon a time Hae Soo had had another name – Go Ha Jin – and lived a sad, difficult life in 21st century Seoul.
After the two people she had trusted the most had betrayed her, Ha Jin had gone to the lake to hide and drink her troubles away, but she had drowned instead… only to wake up in the body of 12-year-old Hae Soo as she was pulled from a river that had claimed the lives of Hae Soo’s parents when a bridge they were crossing had collapsed.
Those had been confusing times. Ha Jin had been terrified, unsure and lost. She hadn’t dared to speak a word at first – which thankfully people assumed was because the ordeal she had gone through – until a newly married Myung Hee had come for her and took her in for good.
Basking in Myung Hee’s love, Ha Jin had decided to look at this as her do-over, her chance to live a better life, so she let go of Ha Jin and became Hae Soo. With Myung Hee’s tender guidance, and Court Lady Oh’s stern discipline, Soo had flourished. And indeed, five years later, she was happier than Ha Jin ever was.
Myung Hee’s prince had been kind if uninterested in her at first. He regarded her as another inconsequential member of his household. He paid her more attention now that he stopped seeing her as a child, to be honest. His sister, Princess Yeon Hwa, often tried to bully her but Soo had learned early on that, though Prince Wook was the one with the higher title, her cousin was the one with the money; and the then 13-year-old Hwangbo princess knew better than to cause trouble with her brother’s wife.
At least, thanks to Yeon Hwa, Soo had had more or less the education of a Goryeo princess, trained in the feminine arts expected of a woman of this era. And thanks to the princess, Soo had met the young princes.
Baek Ah came and went, splitting his time between his family in Silla and the Palace. He was amusing, kind and always had great stories to tell. Eun and her had had a bit of a rocky start when she caught him trying to spy on the female servants, but after Soo had taught him a lesson in the form of a black eye – that earned her a good scolding from Myung Hee and two hours on her knees holding books above her head from Lady Oh – he developed a case of puppy love toward her. This puppy love had thankfully ended when he married Lady Park Soon Deok a year ago.
Jung was the cocky, youngest prince. He was doted on by everyone from the Queen to his brothers. He was always showing off and getting himself into trouble, and seemed fascinated by the fact that Soo wasn’t impressed by him at all.
Her three dearest friends in Goryeo. After tomorrow, they would be her brothers.
“Try to rest, Soo-yah,” Myung Hee said after a while. “Tomorrow will be a long day.”
The 4th Prince of Goryeo, Wang So, paced the length of his quarters inside the Cheondeokjeon Palace. At 22, the prince could count with the fingers of one hand the amount of times he had been to the palace since he had been sent to the Kangs as a hostage – and to hide what his mother had done to him.
Every few years the King summoned him for the exorcism rite or other such matters. Usually, it was either his brother Crown Prince Mu, Grand General Park, or Astronomer Ji Mong that went to Wang So to relay the King’s messages. Only Baek Ah visited him of his own volition, and that only in the last few years. Largely indifferent toward each other most of their lives, they had become fast friends the last time So had come for the rite.
The 3rd Prince, Wang Yo had been making despairing comments over Baek Ah’s Silla heritage, when So stood up for him – having been in the receiving end of Yo’s barbs often enough, So had a thick skin, his much more soft hearted 13th brother did not.
After that, a traveler by nature, Baek Ah began making his way every few months to whatever encampments So had been stationed at the time. He brought with him a sense of lightheartedness that was almost alien to So.
So knew of the battlefields, of leading and managing men who didn’t care about the scars on his body; who knew of his military prowess and the fact that he always leads his troops into battle instead of hiding behind them like many royals did.
He knew harshness and survival. And had been prepared for an early death in battle since he started to have an active role in the army upon reaching his majority. But, in a surprising turn of events, he had survived winning more battles than he lost. Three months ago, he had repelled the Kithan from the northern territory, decimating their forces in a way they wouldn’t recover from any time soon, and expanded the border.
Taejo had been pleased, and summoned So to Songak, He would be rewarded, the king said, with a household of his own… and a wife.
Wang So had been surprised his father found someone to marry him. He was aware of what people said about him and never went out of his way to correct them: he had killed many people, he didn’t show mercy in the battlefield, and was scarred in body and soul – all of it true.
His bride to be was an orphaned noble, So found out, with no parents to speak up for her when her clan elders decided to offer her as a potential concubine for the king. No needing another woman at the moment but interested in the alliance, Taejo ordered her marriage to the 4th prince instead.
The elders had been pleased, as being the 1st wife of a Prince was better than being the 29th wife or concubine of an ailing king. Even if the prince was him.
And, of course, it had to be her.
Hae Soo.
He had never seen her in person – the last time he had been in Songak, Soo hadn’t been allowed to witness the exorcism rite, or join the banquet after it. His half-sister, Princess Yeon Hwa had been sick and unable to attend, and Hae Soo remained to keep her company (knowing his sister, it had been more like Yeon Hwa didn’t want Soo to go if she couldn’t go herself).
But So knew who she was.
Hae Soo showed up often in the letters his brother sent him and in the stories Baek Ah would amuse him with whenever they met. Soo lived in Prince Wook’s household, a distant but cherished relative of his wife, Lady Hae, who had raised Soo as her own for the past five years. The Hae Soo of Baek Ah’s tales was feisty and full of life, kind to everyone she met but willing to stand her ground.
She was beautiful too. So had seen a drawing Baek Ah had made of her a couple of years ago, when she had been fifteen. The dark hair, soft mouth and wide eyes… They had haunted his dreams ever since.
And after tomorrow, she would be bound to him forever.
On the morning of her wedding, Hae Soo felt a little melancholy. She thought of her parents in Seoul for the first time in years, of how she and her best friend from high school used to walk by a bridal shop every day after class, and would sometimes stop for ten or fifteen minutes just staring at the dresses and planning their whole weddings in their heads.
“Soo-yah,” Myung Hee’s voice called through the door. “Time to get up.”
“I’m awake, Unnie.” Soo called back, sitting up as Myung Hee came in, followed by Soo’s maid Chae Ryung and, of all people, Lady Oh.
“Time to make you a bride,” Lady Oh had said with a smile. In her arms, Lady Oh carried the blue, crimson and gold robes she was to wear that day.
Lady Oh and Myung Hee dressed her carefully, as the wedding would take place in front of the entire court and Soo was happy to let them fuss over her, knowing she wouldn’t have much occasion to be with them like this once she married.
Midway through the preparations, a small army of servants came to transport her belongings into the 4th prince household within the Palace grounds, and Soo was glad they hadn’t done her make up yet because she cried a little then.
Myung Hee hugged her and dried her face. “Everything will be all right, Soo-yah.”
“It’s not that,” Soo answered, “I was just thinking that I have been very happy here. Thanks to you. And that I’m going to miss you.”
“I’ll always be here.” Myung Hee reassured her.
“You too, Lady Oh.” Soo said with a smile. “I know I haven’t been a good pupil, but I thank you for all you have taught me.”
Lady Oh surprised her by actually patting her cheek and giving her a fond smile, “Live a good life,” she said, “That’s all the thanks we need.”
Soo smiled and nodded.
Whatever happened now, she would give it her all.
Wang So was reaching the end of his patience with all the protocol and preparations before the wedding.
Living with the Kangs as a child, he had been ignored and left to his own devices (on the good days; he was thrown to the wolves on the bad ones). As a military man, expediency and practicality always took precedent.
But right now, So was feeling aggravated. And his brothers were not helping.
“Maybe don’t scowl like that when you meet Soo-yah,” Baek Ah said idly as he watched his older brother being dressed in the ceremonial robes.
“You are not funny, Baek Ah.”
“But he is right,” Crown Prince Mu added. “Take it from an old, married man: women generally don’t like it when you scowl at them.”
“It gets worse the more wives you take.” Won added with surprising insight, already drinking though it wasn’t even midmorning. “Then it’s all petty jealousy and who has better jewelry and clothes. Annoying, really.”
“That won’t be a problem for our brother,” Yo cut in, “I doubt anyone else will agree to marry him, and there aren’t that many orphans of...” Yo paused, as if looking for the right word to describe Hae Soo’s parentage, finally settling on “...’adequate’ bloodlines just laying around. And even his majesty can’t go around ordering marriages on a whim without angering the clans.”
“Since the Haes proposed the match, that’s moot point.” Wook cut in. He wasn’t that pleased with the marriage either – as the years passed and his wife failed to give him a child, Wook knew he’d needed to take a second wife soon and Hae Soo had been one of the most attractive options -  but he knew forms needed to be kept.
“That’s not what they proposed at first, though.” Yo said wily.
“What’s the point of this conversation?” the Crown Prince cut in, noticing how So’s expression closed up as he held his temper by only a tread.
Mu had seen So lose that temper in battle and, well, he understood why his younger brother was called the Wolf-Dog; why many in the troops feared him more than what they feared the king himself.
“She’s too good for you,” Jung said with unusual venom, shocking everyone in the silence that had followed Mu’s question.
Tension rose again but it was short lived, thankfully.
“All wives are too good for their husbands,” Eun said innocently, “That’s what my Soon Deok-ah says.”
“And you believe everything your wife says?” Yo asked snidely.
“Do everything she says too.” Eun said with a grin and a nod.
“Since Park Soon Deok can beat Jung in hand to hand combat, that’s probably for the best, Eun-ah.” Won said, pointing the obvious as usual.
“Yah, I know.” The 10th prince said, making everyone laugh.
That was the power of the 10th prince, So thought. Sure, Wang Eun wasn’t a scholar nor a fighter, politician or diplomat – but he was happy, and could make people around him happy.
A eunuch arrived to inform the princes that it was time and they began to file out. Eun paused a moment next to his 4th brother. “My Soon Deok-ah says she thinks you and Soo will be fine, hyung. And I do, too.” He smiled.
At first, Soo was too nervous to look at him as he arrived with Baek Ah and Crown Prince Mu. As she felt him stop next to her, Soo dared to look.
For a moment, she was Go Ha Jin again. Her heart seized and her lungs burned. She was back at the bottom of that lake, where it all started. About to give up. Certain it would hurt less if she gave up.
But, as the sky grew dark above her, she had seen his face... and heard a voice she was now certain was his...calling her home.
..
As good an artist as Baek Ah was, Wang So knew right away that his drawings hadn’t done Hae Soo justice.
So thought he knew how she looked like but nothing had prepared him for the way she glowed and shimmered. Hae Soo was iridescent.
Her smile when she met his eyes for the first time was blinding. He could feel his own lips curve upward before he knew what was happening; he was feeling at ease in a way he never had before.
This was it—the moment that would forever mark the Before and After of his life. He had just realized his home was a person, and he had just found her.
...
From afar, no one would have guessed that the bride and groom had just met that day. They seemed to be at ease, talking to each other like they were just picking up an old conversation where they had left it off.
Of Hae Soo, it wasn’t that difficult to believe, as she was known for being a chatty, cheerful sort of person who would talk to just about anyone. She would often say shocking things that landed her in trouble which she would then charm her way out of.
The 4th Prince, though? No one knew what to make of the usually dour prince leaning close to his pretty new wife when she spoke. He was attentive and interested in everything she said.
Some swore they even saw him smile.
That night, So watched as Hae Soo brushed her hair in front of the mirror in their room. Due to some misunderstandings, their servants’ lack of palace training and the fact neither of them seemed to own that many things, the servants had ended up putting both their things in one room, without bothering to prepare a second one, as it was usual among the nobility.
“I don’t mind if it doesn’t bother you.” Hae Soo had said when he offered to ask the servants to prepare a second room.
It was one of those Goryeo things she had always found odd; that husbands and wives kept separate rooms. She didn’t want to be away from her husband.
When So said he didn’t mind sharing a room, Soo grinned and pressed her smiling lips to his. She startled him with her easy affection. “I’ll change first, if that’s all right?”
She had changed into a white sleeping hanbok made of loose, light fabric and now brushed out her hair. She was waiting for him to change as well, not noticing he had been done for several minutes and was just watching her.
“You are beautiful,” He said finally. Soo smiled, setting aside her brush. “I have a gift for you.” He added, handing her a small wooden box, carved with trees and leaves, and blessings. Soo took it, marveling at the work. “Open it.” So urged.
Soo did, finding inside a beautiful hairpin featuring Opal-white flowers, jade leaves, a sprig of berries made of the reddest coral Soo had ever seen and a tiny lapis butterfly. Soo quickly twisted a piece of her hair and secured it with the hairpin.
“I love it, and I’ll wear it often.” She stood up to join him. “But I don’t have a gift for you.”
“Your existence is all the gift I’ll ever need. Just be my person.”
“I am. From this day, until forever. I promise.”
So didn’t know why she accepted him so easily and gladly; but he knew Soo was sincere and he would build his life on that.
Bride and Groom didn’t leave their new home for the next three days. They seldom left their room, to the amusement of the prince’s servants, who had never known him to sleep past dawn.
On the first night, So had set out to learn Soo’s body and all its secrets, all the things that made her moan and whimper and ask him to never stop; discovering a pleasure that neither of them had known existed before.
On the second day, So laid naked under Soo as she touched each scar on his body with gentle fingers, asking him to tell her about them, which he did… he even told her about the one on his face, the oldest one, the one he never spoke off.
On the third night, they sat together in the garden, Soo between his legs as he wrapped a blanket over both of them while Soo pointed the constellations to him and told him all sort of stories about them
So knew he would never tire of hearing her voice or feeling her close. They talked and they slept, made love and talked again. Wang So discovered he could be quite chatty after sex, worse, Hae Soo discovered the same and engaged him in all sorts of whimsical, silly conversations he could barely keep track of.
Who knows how long they would have stayed in their little world, if the Palace and their duties hadn’t come calling.
So was summoned to court and assigned to review the state of the troops stationed in and around Songak. Hae Soo, meanwhile, explored her new home and set out learn the names of all the servants that lived there.
She soon discovered most of them were either soldiers that had served under her husband, but whom at some point suffered injuries that forced them to leave the army; or they were relatives of dead soldiers, whom So employed in order to keep them from starvation, slavery and other unsavory fates.
And they were all quite devoted to her husband, who treated them fairly, paid them well and even though he was strict, never demanded the unreasonable from them.
For all his external gruffness, her husband had quite a soft heart as it turned out.
Myung Hee stood with Court Lady Oh as they waited for Soo to arrive. It had been a week since the wedding and no one had seen or heard from Soo; and thus Myung Hee decided to issue an invitation to meet for tea with her and Lady Oh. Soo had sent word that she accepted but hadn’t arrived yet…
“It’s still early, Lady Hae.” Lady Oh said, knowing the worried turn of Myung Hee’s mind.
“There she is!” Myung Hee, almost yelled, seeing Soo appear at the other end of the gardens that surrounded the Damiwon.
Soo was not alone though; the Fourth Prince had walked with her all the way from their new home – which backed into Lake Dongji – and was now saying goodbye.
..
“If I can’t come for you, I’ll send someone to escort you home. I don’t want you walking back by yourself, understand?”
“You worry too much.” Soo complained.
“You are my whole world.” So replied.
Soo couldn’t help herself, she threw her arms around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss.
..
“Well, they seem to be getting along well.” Lady Oh commented with a dry chuckle before adding softly, “I’m so glad.”
Myung Hee nodded, relief pouring over her as she saw Soo’s brilliant smile. When the Hae Elders had offered Soo to the King as concubine – without telling Myung Hee until after the fact! – she had been horrified and enraged. Her sweet child married to a man almost 40 years her senior? And bound to the palace in that way, under Queen Yoo’s thumb? It would have destroyed Hae Soo.
More so, Myung Hee knew it was all partially her fault; for it was her inability to give the Eight Prince children that had put in danger the alliance between the Haes and the royal house, and sacrificing Soo had been the easiest way to secure that alliance.
She had only felt marginally relieved when she learned it was the 4th Prince that Soo would be marrying instead. Sure, she knew of his reputation, but at least Soo would be a first wife, and would remain in Songak for the time being.
“Unnie! Lady Oh!” Soo said happily, wrapping her petite arms around her first and then squeezing a bewildered Lady Oh. “I have so much to tell you!”
“Let’s go inside then.”
For years to come, the unconventional ways of the Fourth Prince and his wife were object of Palace gossip.
Lady Soo often wore her hair down, even as a married woman, when in the company of her closest friends, claiming her husband liked it better that way.
They were often seen holding hands, and enjoyed walking through the market without escorts or servants.
Lady Soo insisted on accompanying the prince whenever he was called back to the northern territories or to Shinju to deal with the Kangs.
Gossip among the servants claimed that they even shared a room and a bed like commoners did.
And seeing the Wolf-dog, the deadliest fighter in all of Goryeo, being so openly affectionate with his wife was nothing short of shocking.
Times were peaceful.
King Taejo had died less than a year after So and Soo had married but, backed up by Grand General Park’s and So’s armies, Crown Prince Mu had ascended to the throne without much opposition.
King Hyejong became a wise and compassionate ruler that saw his people through a draught and steered them back to prosperity afterward. So quickly became his right-hand and sometimes regent, much to the displeasure of Queen Yoo, who hated whenever her middle son did well.
But So didn’t care. He had his wife, and his daughter; and the friendship of most of his brothers.
“What is it?” Soo asked her husband one afternoon as they walked around the lake with their daughter, when he had laughed to himself out of the blue.
So smiled and lifted Princess Wang Seol unto his shoulders, causing the three year old to squeal with delight. “I was just thinking of the day we met. I’ve never understood why you were never afraid of me. I didn’t have the best reputation.”
“You still don’t.” Soo laughed. “But I didn’t mind, and I still don’t. I always knew we would be okay.”
“Really?”
Soo nodded, deciding this was as good as time as any to tell him, “Before I came to live with Unnie, I almost drowned.” Soo explained. “When I was sinking and about to give up, I saw your face in my mind. And I knew I couldn’t give up, because I had to go home. To you.”
So smiled tenderly, caressing her cheek. “The moment I saw you, I thought you were my home.”
Soo stood on her tiptoes to kiss him lightly, ignoring their daughter’s giggling. Before So could deepen the kiss and turn it into something more, they were interrupted by Astronomer Ji Mong.
“Your highness, Lady Soo.” The older man said, worry and shock clear on his face.
“What is it?” So asked impatiently, sensing something was about to radically change.
“There was an accident…His majesty is dying; and he calls you to his side.”

A Hot Mess -- Ye-Sol and Myung-Soo
instinct
[a few years later]
“Is this something else you learned in the military?” Ye-Sol tilted her head and looked at him curiously. Myung-Soo tried not to blush as he finished changing the locks on her new storefront door. “I’m pretty sure I don’t have anything else left to fix.”
He wrinkled his nose and started looking around the boutique for something else he could do for her. They weren’t mated yet and it was making him restless. It had for almost six weeks now. The weather was turning cold and he didn’t like the idea that she wasn’t insulated even if she could turn into a giant wolf with a beautiful coat to keep her warm. Thankfully, he didn’t need to make an excuse because she came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist.
“I like that you’re handy.”
“Young-Do did most of it,” he mumbled as she kissed the back of his neck. He just felt so restless in his need to provide something more for her. “Do you need help with any of the displays?” Ye-Sol came around him and looked up at him curiously. “What?”
“I’m just wondering when I’m going to get a dead rabbit on my slippers.”
“Are you hungry?” He reached up and tucked her hair behind her ears. It was still pretty short. He didn’t know why she kept cutting it. He meant to bend down and kiss her but both Ye-Sol and Young-Do started laughing. He looked over at their Second and briefly wondered if he should take off his shirt, too. “What?”
“You should tell him before the pack starts congratulating him.” Young-Do walked up and rubbed his cheek against Ye-Sol’s and then against Myung-Soo’s. Before he could ask what he needed to be congratulated on, Young-Do kissed him, grabbed his shirt, and then left.
“I haven’t gotten kissed like that in awhile.” He looked down at the top of Ye-Sol’s head as she laid her head against his chest. She started giving a comforting rumble as he stroked his fingers through her hair. A moment later she took his free hand and placed his palm against her stomach.
Myung-Soo blinked and jerked back. He stared down into her eyes and tried not to cry when it dawned on him. “I have the instinct,” he whispered in awe. “That’s what this is. I’ve been making a den for you.”
“A den for us,” she corrected. “That’s what the empty room next to mine upstairs is. I want you to turn it into a dark room. I’ve been hinting at it for two weeks now but you keep missing it.”
That didn’t seem so important. He had noticed the space in her closet and dresser but he hadn’t been ready to move out again for his mother’s sake. He pulled her into a tight hug.
“I have the instinct,” he whispered. “That’s why I keep bringing you food and stopping by every day and fixing things. Fuck, Ye-Sol, I’ve felt so restless and anxious. I’m going to be a father. Please don’t bite me.”
“Never. Only when you want me to.” She nosed at his throat but he didn’t release her. “Not even a playful tumble to celebrate?”
He hesitated because a playful tumble sounded great but...“Let’s just walk, carefully, up the stairs and tumble into bed.” He took her hand and did just that. He really liked the work he’d coaxed Young-Do into helping him with. They turned the second story of Ye-Sol’s boutique into something warm and inviting.
After they coupled, Myung-Soo curled up behind her and couldn’t stop touching her stomach. “How long have you known?”
“Since you refinished my cabinets after hours of reading carpentry books,” she teased. Two weeks then. That was fair. “It was fun watching you. That’s why I didn’t tell you right away. Young-Do confirmed it a few days ago when he stopped by to finish fixing the holes in the roof.”
“I wanted to do that,” he muttered and kissed her neck. Ye-Sol rolled over to look up at him. She ran her fingers through his hair and he tried not to jiggle his foot. “We aren’t formally mated yet. Are you sure you want to have a litter with me?”
“Yes. It hasn’t even been a question. I want to announce our puppy at the next full moon. I’m going to claim you as the father.”
He winced and looked away. Every man that Ye-Sol ever coupled with in the pack would have to say he wasn’t the father. “I wish Rachel would do away with that tradition. It’s archaic and demeaning to everyone involved.”
“It’s too soon for her to undo everything,” Ye-Sol said sadly. “This will be the only time. Next time we will be mated and there will be no question. I’m proud to claim you as the father, Myung-Soo. Everyone will know this is your puppy. I like this tradition because at the end of it, everyone will know that you are the man I chose, over all the rest. I don’t know who my father is because my mother refused to name him. She didn’t think he was worthy to be my father. They will know how much I love you and how special you really are.
