I'm watching Huff (2004) (for Paget) and I've been trying to figure out why Pepper / Justine is familiar - I'm 99.9% sure she's the same actress who kicked ass as Kindzi in season 3 of Defiance. 0.1% unsure because the credit on IMDB is for Nichole Robinson on Huff and Nichole Galicia on Defiance. But it's her! It's her voice! She's great.

Page 1. ---- Grocer is Fined for Shortweight - Young Bank Clerk in Trouble - Grigg Case Remanded ---- Much time was taken up at the city police court this morning by the trial of three Gallcians charged with beating up a fellow countryman, one Alex. Sowa. After hearing the evidence which was of a directly contradictory nature, Magistrate Macdonald fined one of the three, Nichol Paschuk $20 and costs. The other two were allowed to go with a reprimand. The quarrel started, according to the prosecutor, on account of a land law suit in Galicia which Pasehuck had brought against Sowa's brother and which the latter had won.

Fined for Shortweight H. M. Schiller, grocer, whose store is at the corner of Polson avenue and McGregor street, paid a fine of $2 mi costs for selling shortweight coffee, An inspector of the markets department went to the store on Wednesday and asked for a pound of coffee. He was given a package marked "1 lb. 25 cents." Taking it to the market superintendent's office he weighed the package and found it to be 14 drams short of one pound.

As an excuse Schiller said the coffee had been weighed and put into packages about five months ago and had shrunk. His honor thought this no excuse.

Proved An Alibi. The name of George W. Baker appeared on the docket opposite a charge of drunkenness, and a fine of $3 and costs was imposed. On seeing this George W. Baker, well known solicitor. humorously requested his honor to take judicial notice that he could prove an alibi.

His honor catching on to the joke affirmed his intention to make the note requested.

Young Bank Clerk in Trouble A young bank clerk finding himself In financial difficulties made the mistake of issuing cheques when he had no funds wherewith to meet them. He expected, he said, some money from Scotland, his home, in a short while. Restitution has been made and the young man, whose name is George Baillee, was allowed to go on suspend- ed sentence.

Grigg Again Remanded The case of Samuel Grigg, well known temperance advocate and evangelist, charged with bigamy, was again remanded for a week. This makes the fifth remand in this case.
