I had to draw him in fancy clothes, it's the whole reason why I made this au!

Au fact: Ballister wears blue gold and white whenever he goes out in public because it's the colors of his kingdom (more like Queen Valerin's colors). He prefers to wear red and black clothes because he thinks it suits him more, both Queen Valerin and Ambrosius thinks so too. Unfortunately, his teacher, the Director, begs to differ because it looks evil, and he's supposed to be a Prince. It's one of the reasons why he wore blue, white and gold in public because he didn't want to disappoint his teacher.

His mans likes his current outfit more than the uniform and would constantly pray the uniform would be ruined so he could see Bal in his training outfit all the time.

Delighted by the thought of Todd taunting Prince Ballister in @mvjerbs au, saying smth like, “No prince could ever beat a knight in a sword fight, especially not a false prince such as yourself, you commoner.” And Ballister, who has been extensively trained in sword fighting and combat for his own safety, is like, “Bet?”

I need to stop making Aus and not do anything with them, but Prince Ballister has a hold of my brain, so have some little ideas.

EDIT: forgot to tag @mvjerbs bcs their art caused this

Bal's adopted by the queen during his "breaking-into-the-Institute-bcs-he-wants-to-be-a-knight" thing, and she goes "free baby" and scoops him up.

He has a generally easier time, even if he's a bit disappointed about not being a knight. It's one thing for even the queen to stray from Gloreth's doctrine and allow a commoner to be a knight.

Like, people don't like a commoner becoming heir to the throne, but that's seen as being up to the queen, and the closer relationship protects Bal from people's scorn.

The Director becomes concerned as Bal gets older and more involved in politics, as he starts suggesting stuff like helping the lower classes or anything that affects the status quo, which could put the city (*ahem* the Director) in danger.

The queen had been a bit sheltered from problems in the realm, but takes Bal's advice seriously and starts looking into ways to help people.

I have a couple of ideas as to how he meets Nimona:

Follow canon, somewhat. They meet after the main plot kicks off with Nimona opening Bal's eyes to how much worse the situation is and how corrupt the Institute is etc.

Or, they actually meet when he's younger, and she gives him far more radical ideas as to how they can help the realm.

For the first one, just Bal suggesting they should allow commoners to become knights would be enough to set the Director off, but in the second scenario, Bal could suggest actually trying to explore beyond the walls.

Not sure if I'd have Bal be framed in the second scenario: I feel like they could announce the intention to take down part of the wall ON the wall, and the Director makes it look like someone from outside attacks the royals.

Bal survives, but loses an arm. Thanks to Nimona, he suspects the Director, who demonises him and makes herself regent.

As for Goldenheart, Bal still wanted to learn how to sword fight, so Ambrosius was assigned to be his sparring partner.

Gloreth's descendents also often become royal bodyguards.

This can involve anything from pining over not being able to be together, to saying "fuck it" and doing so behind closed doors.

In the "Bal has known Nimona for years" scenario, Ambrosius knows about her too and agrees that they should help people and explore beyond the walls.

If nothing else, it does give him the opportunity to do something new as Gloreth's descendent.

He still believes in the Institute and doesn't think the Director would hurt anyone, but he also still believes in Bal's plan and doesn't like how he's being treated after the queen is murdered.

So there's some tension going on there as he tries to figure out what he should do.

Again I have put too much thought into this, and I'm not gonna have the attention span/confidence to write a whole fic, but I needed to get it out of my head lol.

Ballister calls Queen Valerin “Mother” most of the time. Most likely because he wants to sound proper (like a prince). When he is at his most vulnerable he calls her Mum.

Can I have some of "Prince Ballister AU" for WIP Wednesday?

I made a good chunk of progress on my fic exchange fic yesterday, and here are a few new lines from the Prince Ballister AU:

Ballister had had an interesting few days.  He’d known his demonstration of his fighting skills would be a little unorthodox and risky, but didn't expect to be thrown into a jail cell. He also didn't expect to meet the queen. Or make a new friend. And now, he was supposed to finally learn what was to become of him. This morning, a servant — it was so weird that he was somewhere with servants — had laid out his old clothes for him to wear. While they were slightly cleaner than they were before, he took that as a bad sign. Queen Valerin herself came to fetch him, and she guided him to a small podium in front of a swarm of reporters. Ambrosius' mom was already there, and gave him the tiniest of nods. He gulped.

Ok I love prince ballister but please consider prince Ambrosius 👀

(Note I’m not great at writing fan fiction and I’m dyslexic so don’t mind spelling errors 🫡😘)

In this au Gloreth does still become a knight it’s just that’s she’s also made the ruler of the kingdom (I guess town at the time) and from then forth her descendants would take the on crown to “protect the kingdom from monsters and ruin”

1000 years later

Gloreth’s descendants are still going strong with the the heir to the throne being Prince Ambrosius Goldenloin, and it helps with the descendants of the other knights being trained and what not

In this au ballister is still originally from the lower classes in the city and still hopped the fence (wall?) to the institute declaring he’d be a knight

He was given the chance by the Goldenloin’s to be a knight “it will not be easy but if you are so sure you can, I will not be the one to stop you.” The king declared (its like the scene in the movie with the queen)

Ballister then goes to become top of his class and being appointed as the prince’s personal security, (Ambrosius was trained how to fight, the king and queen just don’t want to take any chances)

Through out the years the young prince and Ballister did become friends due to none of the other knights taking a liking to Ballister and Ballister not being afraid to talk his mind when around Ambrosius

Cue movie scenes of them hanging out, skipping gala’s to play video games, walking around the city, them sparring together and Ambrosius winning (bal let him)

They do eventually catch feelings for each other and Ballister just one day goes up to Ambrosius (in private) and says “hey do want to go on a date with me?” And Ambrosius just *ambrosius.exe has stopped working* and after like 3-4 dates they were ‘officially’ dating 

The queen found out after like date #2

Ok on to movie events (kind of)!!!!!!! So instead of Ballister being framed for killing the queen, he’s framed for almost killing the Director 

This would take place at like a charity gala or like those party that happen while a sports game is going on. Knight’s attendance was mandatory (idk why, I’m open to suggestions tho)

In this the laser shooty thing is hidden in his cuff armour pice and the director planed it so that it would go off when he would go to shake her hand or something. So she waited to interact with Ballister until they were in the middle of the room

When it goes off it shoots the director in the chest (leaving her temporarily unconscious) and with the force of the blast ripping off ballisters arm

The whole gala goes quiet and all ballister can see is the look of horror on the prince’s face until he hears a “Knights! Seize him!!” From the king.

Bal begins to run as the knight begin after him but there’s stopped in their tracks by the prince yelling “wait stop!” And he begins running after ballister, the knights comply, which gave ballister enough time to get away, but not with out one last look from Ambrosius
