“And so he had told himself that what she felt wasn’t really love. It had been easier to try to convince himself that she was merely infatuated with him, that she didn’t understand what true love was(as if he did!), and that eventually she would find someone else and settle down into a happy and contented life.
Now that thought—that she might have married another—nearly left him paralyzed with fear.”

I never want to hear “Show Colin isn’t like book Colin at all” when this is literally book Colin:
Tumblr media
Desperately trying to come up with a cool one liner to say before kissing Penelope, literally getting too horny for words, and unable to think of anything because he’s so into it his mind goes blank.
Colin trying to play things cool and failing is 100% in character for him across book and TV. This is plant pun Colin, this is “I practiced my speech to Cousin Jack for you” Colin, this is “you said one nice thing to me and now I must drown myself in lemonade” Colin. Yeah he’s popular and charming and cute but he’s also a flop and a nerd, it’s called the duality of man lmfao.

Pt. 2 of More things that I would BEG to see in Season 3 of Bridgerton: (that we probably won't get but a girl can dream)
-Colin having to be chaperoned at all times by one of his family members after his and Pen’s engagement because they think he'll comprise pen (too little too late tho)
-Once Colin figures Pen isn't receiving his letters he starts a journal (AKA the journal from RMB)
-The "dead faint" that is mentioned in RMB happening in the 1st ep when a debutante sees Colin in his swagger
-Colin whispering in Pen's ear all the time
-Pen pulling down Colin into a kiss by the lapels of his jacket or his cravat
-Hugs all around, Bridgerton is a show that needs more hugs
-KATE AND PEN FRIENDSHIP. We didn't get any in S2 and I was really hoping we would
-Colin calling Penelope Wife just as much as he calls her Pen
-Colin staring at Pen, just totally in love with her, can’t even look anywhere else even if he wanted to
-Colin goes to one of Benedict's "parties" and realizes he is definitely not a Rake like Anthony and Simon were.
-Pen giggling when she discovers Colin's hair feels like Eloise's, I need this scene from RMB
-BABY AGATHA JUST LIKE AT THE END PLEASEEEE
-Penelope having all of Colin's letters, even the ones she didn't open or reply to
-Colin writing in his travel journal, but he addresses it to Pen 🥺
-Colin literally stumbling and almost falling over when he sees Pen's glow up
- Colin being compared to lord ledger (because he's the most similar to him imo)
-ABC trio "accidentally" scaring off some of Pen's suitors
-Colin just watching Pen read/write (it’s a need)
-Pen and Gen being besties that run their own business
-A polin version of the "Will! You! Stop! Eating!" scene from Harry Potter (honestly it gives Polin vibes)
-Over dramatic Colin Bridgerton (for the laughs ofc)
-Just a scene of the Bridgertons looking at Colin like he’s an exhibit and trying to figure out how he hasn’t realized he’s in love with Penelope
-ANTHONY WALKING PENELOPE DOWN THE AISLE, I WILL RIOT IF WE DONT-
-Kate having her suspicions that Penelope is Whistledown like she did in the books
-COLIN AND FRANCESCA DUO
I gatekept these from y’all in the first one but since everyone rlly liked them I thought I’d post the rest🤪. Lmk what y’all thought of these

Do people really think Colin is not a nerd in the books? Y'all, he is smart just like Penelope! He writes! (and he's a perfectionist about his writing) He gets detailed in soliloquies about silhouettes and writes long-winded [AFFECTIONATE; I love him] descriptions about the landscape. They find humor in eclairs and potted plants. Boy gets all flustered at...A KISS. He can't tell when there's something between him and his one true love so much so he goes to ask his sister!! He offers to dance with her in rain like little kids. He freaks out when he thinks Penelope is meeting up with a secret lover (And why is that the first thought?). He listens to Mozart. Also, the book tries to act all: Colin only dances with Penelope because his mom forces him to, but there are numerous occasions where he is just around her at a ball, laughing with her, joking, eyeing eclairs and plants, and with Lady Danbury being a shit-talking trio PRE-LIKING HER. When they are married, I'm pretty sure they would rather be homebodies (not even for the sex, but also for the sex) than go to some of the events. He goes on to say My Wife My Wife My Wife in unrelated topics of conversation annoying at least everybody.
(His arc is that Penelope helps him realize (without trying) how he doesn't have to put on an act, he can be free to be himself, and he doesn't have to seem cool when he's lonely af).

What if the S3 teaser/trailer tomorrow starts with baby Pen's bonnet blowing into baby Colins face?

Penelope looked up at his face. Tight white lines etched in the skin around his mouth, and he looked very pale. "I think you better sit down," she said.
He nodded grimly and sagged into a chair.
Penelope's stomach did a rather seasickish sway. She'd never been terribly good with blood. "Maybe I'd better sit down, too," she mumbled, sinking onto the low table opposite him.
"Are you going to be all right?" He asked.
She nodded, swallowing against a tiny wave of nausea. "We need to find something to wrap this," she said, grimacing as she looked down at the ridiculous setup below.
The paper wasn't absorbent, and the blood was rolling precariously along its surface, with Penelope desperately trying to keep it from dripping over the side.
"I have a handkerchief in my pocket," he said.
She carefully set the paper down and retrieved the handkerchief from his breast pocket, trying not to notice the warm beat of his heart as her fingers fumbled for the creamy white scarp of clothe. "Does it hurt?" She asked as she wrapped it around his hand. "No, don't answer that. Of course it hurts."
He managed a very wobbly smile. "It hurts."
She peered down at the gash, forcing herself to look at it closely even though the blood made her stomach turn. "I don't think you'll need stitches."
"Do you know much about wounds?"
She shook her head. "Nothing. But it doesn't look too bad. Except for...ah all the blood."
"Feels worse than it looks," he joked.
Her eyes flew to his face in horror.
"Another joke," he reassured her. "Well, not really. It does feel worse than it looks, but I assure you it's bearable."
"I'm sorry," she said, increasing pressure on the wound to staunch the flow of blood. "This is all my fault."
"That I sliced open my hand?"
"If you hadn't been so angry....."
He just shook his head, closing his eyes briefly against the pain. "Don't be silly, Penelope. If I hadn't gotten angry with you, I would have gotten angry with someone else some other time."
"And you'd of course have a letter opener by your side when that happened," she murmured, looking up at him through her lashes as she bent over his hand.
When his eyes met hers, they were filled with humor and maybe just a touch of admiration. And something else she'd never thought to see---vulnerability, hesitancy, and even insecurity. He didn't know how good his writing was, she realized with amazement. He had no idea, and he was actually embarrassed that she'd seen it.
-Romancing Mister Bridgerton

Correct Bridgerton Quotes
Colin: It is necessary. For God's sake, Penelope, I arrived with you. I made it abundantly clear that I required your presence in the room, and I practically shoved Felicity out the door to fetch her watercolors. Why on Earth would anyone think that I wanted Felicity?
Lady Featherington: I love Penelope, of course, but -
Colin: But do you know her? She's lovely and intelligent and has a fine sense of humor. Who wouldn't want to marry a woman like that?
Penelope: *whispers* Thank you

I’m a writer Colin truther because Colin spent his first summer abroad writing letters to his whole big ass family (plus Penelope) and Penelope was the only one to respond to all of his letters.
And then he goes away for a SECOND summer abroad and writes to his whole big ass family (plus Penelope) and even fewer people respond the second summer away???
And he just…still keeps writing them letters???? Yeah that’s a man that misses Penelope but that’s also a man who just likes writing. Wasting time and ink going “surely my family will write back if I can create really evocative descriptions of sunsets” like the NERD he is.

Okay, so y’all know how in the first episode of each season of Bridgerton it is shown how much the male lead is seen as a catch and sought out by many debutantes? Well, I was thinking, how are they planning to do that for Colin? In the books, the ton all saw him as a charmer. So, I think that they will have to make him seem wanted by many women of the ton in the first place. But they obviously can’t do it the way they did for Simon because Colin doesn’t have a title, and cannot do it the way Anthony did cause Colin has still forsworn women (as far as we know). So how will the show do it? I think that one way that could be fun (especially for the first ep) is Penelope writes in LW what Colin has said about Penelope at the Featherington ball and the fact that he has forsworn women and challenges the debutantes of the ton to ROMANCE MISTER BRIDGERTON. This will also occupy Colin at every ball he goes to when he tries to talk to Penelope. This way, Penelope isn’t forced to avoid him because he'll be too busy. It’s just a clever idea and a cheeky way to throw the book title in there, but lmk what y’all think the show will do to make Colin seem like a catch😏(I honestly think that they could just let the debutantes see how good he looks as pirate Colin and they’d all be falling cause I was🥵)

Polin Week: Day 7 ♡ Hopes for Season 3
"Stay," he whispered, and he pulled her to him, roughly, hungrily, without apology or explanation. "Stay," he said again, leading her to his bed. And when she didn't say anything, he said it for a third time. "Stay." She nodded. He took her into his arms. This was Penelope, and this was love. -Chapter 18

I've been reading RMB today and with the trailer coming out the other day we have a much clearer idea of how part 1 is going to go and its got me thinking about how they're gonna adapt the book scenes to fit with the Debling plot.
So what if in Ep 4 Debling proposes to Pen towards the start of the episode and that's why in the Pen/Portia clip in the trailer Pen's eyes look like she thinks she's making a mistake/she's panicking and Portia's reassuring her with "you've done so well, what more could you want?"
Then at the end of the episode we have the carriage scene and the episode ends with the carriage arriving at the Featherington house and Colin ALSO proposes like "forget him, marry me". It would make such a good cliffhanger for the mid-season finale.
Then at the start of Ep.5 we can have still have a silly farcical scene with Colin and Portia that keeps the spirit of Portia's Felicity misunderstanding intact but this time she's not following Colin's meaning because Pen already has another proposal from a 'better' titled suitor?
