Something that HAS to come back from the old days of wrestling is giving wrestlers time off to make dozens of shitty movies where they're themselves as a superhero fighting a supernatural evil. I want our favs to be in movies along the lines of:
Santo in the Wax Museum (1963)
Santo VS The Strangler (1965)
Santo VS The Infernal Men (1961)
Santo VS The Zombies (1962)
Santo VS The Vampire Women (1962)
Santo VS The Ghost of The Strangler (1966)

Mars of Todi. Todi, Monte Santo area. End of 5th century B.C., bronze. Gregorian Etruscan Museum.
“This extremely rare example of ancient bronze statuary depicts a warrior dressed in a breastplate and leaning against an iron lance, in the act of performing a propitiatory libation with a patera before battle (the patera and the remains of the lance are currently on display in a cabinet). It is made up of parts cast separately using the lost wax technique and then soldered together, with multi-material insertions to enhance its naturalistic effect. The dedicatory inscription, in the language of the ancient Umbrians but in the southern Etruscan alphabet (ahal trutitis dunum dede) recalls that the statue was given as a gift (dunum dede) by a certain Ahal Trutitis, possibly an individual of Celtic origin. Probably produced in a workshop in Orvieto (Volsinii), it displays references to Attican models from around the third quarter of the fifth century B.C., especially in the circle of Phidias, although with generic aspects of Polycletian form. It was discovered in Todi in 1835, buried between slabs of travertine, possibly after having been struck by lightning. It was acquired by the Papal Government in 1836.” (x)

Camelid figurine
Date: 1400–1533
Geography: Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, or Argentina
Culture: Inca
Medium: Alloys of silver, gold and copper
This male camelid figurine, potentially representing a llama, has a solid head and a hollow body. While many similar camelid figurines are made of hammered sheet, X-radiography confirms that this figurine was cast by the lost wax method (see image 3) in two distinct casting stages to achieve different metallic effects. The first step was the casting of the llama’s head (see image 4), neck, torso (see image 5), and tail (see image 6), as well as its legs, with a silver-copper-gold alloy. As part of this first step, the wax form of the torso was modelled around a ceramic core that now forms a hollow space within the camelid’s body (the space is not visible to the viewer as it has been covered over by a silver metal plug at the chest, visible in the X-ray). The second casting step was the creation of the head and upper or rear elements of the body and tail in a more gold-rich silver metal. This second casting operation was accomplished by casting directly onto the solidified silver-rich portions. X-radiography reveals extensive porosity throughout most of the silver metal areas, a feature caused by gas trapped in the molten metal during casting, which contrasts with a lack of porosity in the gold-rich areas. This difference suggests that the second step in casting may have been undertaken to correct flaws or areas of weakness associated with the porosity in the first. XRF analysis of the two metal elements indicates that the silver-rich metal contains approximately 72% silver, 20% copper and 7% gold while the more gold-rich areas contain roughly 50% silver, 42% gold, and 8% copper. Following casting, the metal worker employed tracing and engraving tools to form the details of the inner ear, the eyes, the nostrils, the mouth, and the toes. The object may be considered a huaca, a Quechua and Aymara word for a sacred being among Andean peoples. Huacas may take the form of artificial anthropomorphic or zoomorphic objects, as well as rocks, mountains, and mineral sources (Cruz 2009). Throughout the Andes, camelids, including two wild and two domesticated species, are prized for their wool and meat (Moore 2016). For the Incas, their human ancestors, along with camelids, were thought to have come into existence from a cave at Pacariqtambo. In the Andes, camelids, whose hides and bones were turned into a range of products, are charged with carrying goods as part of caravans. Camelid figurines may be components of the Inca ritual performance of capac hucha, a Quecha term meaning ‘royal obligation’, in which, according to 16th century Spanish chroniclers (Cieza de León 1959, 190-193; Diez de Betzanos 1996, 46, 132), could involve annual celebrations in Cusco where prophecies were given for the coming year as well as sacrificial offerings of llamas, maize, and children, whether as a dedication to the Sun or for particular royal events, including the Sapa Inca’s death. As part of this performance, in some cases, juveniles were ritually married in Cuzco and then sent on processions to points as far north and south as Isla de la Plata in Ecuador and Cerro El Plomo in Chile, respectively, where they were sacrificed and buried, wearing textiles, and accompanied by dressed metal and Spondylus spp. shell figurines, ceramic vessels, and other shell and metalwork. The motivation of the capac hucha was to commemorate particular royal events and to mark the expansion of the Inca Empire. However, such figurines may have been deposited with other intentions, and without human burials. In one case, four camelid figurines in metal and shell were recovered in a line oriented to the southeast and in association with stones related to the usnu, or altar, of Cuzco as part of the dedication of sacred space in the Haukaypata, or main plaza of Cuzco (Farrington and Raffino 1996, 73). Camelid figurines were occasionally designed with special ornamentations, such as those seen on two figurines from the region of Lake Titicaca, including the attachment of a textile blanket adorned with gold appliqué and cinnabar (AMNH B/1618) and a highly corrugated surface to index the texture of the animal’s pelage (AMNH B/1619). These ornamentations, or inherent aspects of the design of the figurines, testifies to the ways that metallurgists distinguished their ritualized work. At present, there is little archaeological indication of production sites for these figurines, but Spanish chroniclers point to Cuzco. Many Inca camelid figurines in metal tend to be around the height of 1974.271.36, but there are exceptions (such as the two aforementioned AMNH figurines) that are larger, at 23–24 cm. The height groupings of the camelid figurines are in some way comparable to those of the Inca anthropomorphic figurines in metal but appear to show a bipartite rather than a tripartite grouping (see McEwan 2015, 282, n. 15). In Spondylus spp., the heights of camelid figurines may range from approximately 2 to 7 cm without clear groupings across that range. It should be recognized that many of the sites from which these figurines have been recovered are sacred to local indigenous communities (see Aguero 2004, Fine-Dare 2009, and Politis 2001 on the display of human remains from the mountaintop capac hucha site of Llullaillaco in Argentina). Eleven camelid figurines in silver, gold, and Spondylus spp. were associated with the human male juvenile’s grave at Llullaillaco but none was found with the two human female graves (MAAM 2007, 52). A hollow camelid figurine, made of gold-silver-copper sheets joined mainly by solder, was recovered from the capac hucha burial of a 7-year-old human male at Cerro Aconcagua, also in Argentina (Bárcena 2004). While camelid figurines are often found with male capac hucha burials (King 2016), a strict gender correlation is not clear. At Choquepujio, in the Cusco Valley, a Spondylus male camelid figurine was found resting in a Spondylus valve associated with the Inca burial of a female juvenile (11–12 years old) inside a pre-Inca temple (Gibaja et al. 2014). In excavating a burial of a male juvenile (6–7 years old), investigators recovered two Spondylus female camelid figurines. In these assemblages, camelid figurines were social actors, having their own camay, a Quechua term that could be translated as “energizing power,” through interaction with other assemblage components and with the human actors that made and deposited them. The deterioration of these objects, or their removal from their original locations in the earth, has surely changed their efficacy. Moon Enters Leo
Tumblr media
By shirleytwofeathers
It is important to remember that the Moon cycles through the signs of the zodiac every couple of days, and it’s important to check the time of day that it enters and leaves the sign, because that will vary depending on your geographical location. If in doubt, you can use this moon sign calculator.
Leo rules play, fine arts, for naming a child, theatre, being a host/ess, parties and fun, celebrations, hobbies, games, lovers, love and romance, gambling and speculation, showing off, warm-hearted, cheering up, loyalty from others both giving and getting, chivalry, clowning around, amusements, doing it with style, risk taking, investing, stocks and bonds.
Leo is a fixed sign and projects begun when the moon is in this sign tend to last. Moon in Leo is good for anything having to do with children, creativity, good for casting love spells; romance, success in gambling, winning, attracting centre stage, personal charisma, men in general, the father, hobbies, speculation, risk taking, investments, stocks and bonds, authority and spells for gaining positions of power and authority over others.
Magickal workings ruled by the Sun are successful at this time. This includes spells for:
Love, romance and dating
Children
Creativity
Fun
Self-expression
Play
Vacation and leisure
Investments and speculation
Selling a home at a good profit
Queens and Kings
Aristocracy
Big rituals
Awards and recognition
Pride and personal pride
Leo is a majestic and bright fire sign. The moon in Leo is favourable to shine in society, to gain fame, love, independence, to unleash creative potential. During this period, you can afford expensive purchases, noisy entertainment, big parties. It is a good time to organise celebrations, make active steps towards dreams.
Leo is considered a barren sign, so it is better not to plant fruit crops during the days of his lunar reign. You can plant lawn grass, ivy, ornamental plants. Even though Leo is considered to be a barren sign, astrologers claim that the moon in Leo helps couples to conceive a boy.
Note:
Do NOT have surgical procedures performed on the heart, spine, or back at this time.
Moon Phase Info
New Moon in Leo – the time to shine in society. Go to the theatre, cinema, museum, make new acquaintances.
Waxing Moon in Leo – the best day to have a party.
Full Moon in Leo – time to speak very frankly with someone close.
Waning moon in Leo – an excellent period for career achievements.

Meditation For Moon In Leo
This is a simple candle meditation ritual to enhance creativity. You will need:
1 orange candle (creativity, enthusiasm)
1 yellow candle (creativity, imagination, and inspiration)
Amethyst, chrysocolla, black onyx, and turquoise
Creativity is more than just writing, painting, or music It can be about coming up with a great innovative concept for a business method, or something as mundane as redecorating your apartment. This ritual is flexible so feel free to adjust wording as you fit.
Cleanse and clear your space using White Sage , Palo Santo, or Florida water.
Light your altar candles and the incense. Anoint your candles using appropriate oils for creativity. Place the orange and yellow candles side by side and place a piece of black onyx behind the orange candle and the piece of turquoise in front of it.
With your yellow candle, place the Chrysocolla behind the candle, and the amethyst in the front. Light the candles, and think about the particular reason why you need creativity, you might wish to say aloud something along the lines as simple as:
The Universe is filled with endless ideas of creativity. I attract them to me like a magnet. My mind and dreams are open to these ideas. They flow in like a stream of clear water.
Sitting in silence breathe in the sign of Leo and place it into your heart centre. Allow the colour of Gold, radiating like the sun to surround your entire body and fill you with courage, strength, and fire. Recognise the power of yourself as an individual. A powerful Leo moon mantra for this meditation to remember is:
” My will is strong and my calling is to express and illuminate.”
After the meditation, it might be helpful to consider, or to journal your answers to the following questions:
What is it that I have been given to express?
How can I do that with an open and generous heart?

Super Trunk Show 2017 Stockhom
Tumblr media
Super trunk show started in 2013, 4 years ago back in Sweden. Sweden as we have already know, are among the most well dressed gentlemen around. The event focus on classic men shoes and naturally being the same time I have gotten into classic men shoes, naturally this is one of the event I ogled about every year the event is held in Stockholm.
Tumblr media
Fast forward 4 years and I have finally fulfilled my wish of visiting them. It all started with me researching for a shoe making course to take, which leads me to enroll for Janne Melkerson 2 weeks course in Ostersund, north of Stockholm. And since I am attending the course, I coordinate both event to coincide back to back.
Jesper Ingevaldsson whom I met the night before the event during their pre trunk gathering, is the founder of shoegazingblog told me how they started this event. On his website shoegazing.se he has a closed forum for the moderators and one of the moderator suggested bringing Vass to Stockholm cause he has difficulty travelling oversea. Since Jesper has interest in this trade and has already known other shoe makers, he has the idea of bringing them all together in a single event called Super Trunk show. He did also mention that the first year they held the event it is quite a disaster. He didn't expect the crowd to be so big and the logistic for the exhibitors are quite chaotic. Despite these hiccup, he is able to pull off the event to everyone expectation.
I am sorry for the overwhelmingly tons of photos in this article. Feel like breaking down into 2 post but I will wish to let you guys read everything at one go...
Super Trunk show 2017 focus on local Swedish retailers and some international shoemakers which includes a new comer, Jan Kielman. The day start by attending the VIP opening from 9.30am to 11am where you can pre-register to avoid large crowd when open to public after 11am. I was there around 10.30am and the crowd is still quite small. This is the best opportunity to talk the exhitbitor. As I have already preordered Skolyx’s white sneaker, I went over to their booth and try on my size. They fit great with size 41 on my feet. Gosh what a relief to my feet as I have only bought one pair of loafer (C&J sydney) with me and walk in the city for 3 straight days! Emil and his brother Sebastian have been very friendly, talking to me about their vision of their company and we also talked about the numerous Yanko last and design that they have brought in.

I have met Michael Håkansson aka Magic Mike Patina on the first night I am in Stockholm and since then I have met him every night for drink. A guy who looks serious on the appearance but full of warmth when talking to him. A nice person to talk everything to. He shared a lot of his patina experience with me, especially creation of marble effect. I am so going to try it myself when I have chance! Here you can see at his booth he has created a beautiful and artistic grey marbled effect on a pair of Yanko balmoral oxford.

Most of his product are patina by him, offering an unique product he carries. From what he mention, some of his patina are inspired by four season especially fall color. Maclej Kielman, the current generation of shoemaker for Jan Kielman, is one of polish shoemaker exhibiting for the first time this year. With him he brought his son along and some of their demo shoe with them for display. His son, Jan Kielman the next generation shoemaker are very friendly in explaining Kielman various offering to me. According to Maclej, they will have to name every alternate generation son "Jan" to carry on their branding... Something I have never ever imagined....

Kielman shoe on display. His signature model seamless one piece wholecut
Tumblr media
Some design to note are his one piece seamless wholecut, norvegese wholecut and double monk. They are very well made and sturdy. From what he explained, he don't do fitting shoe as it is not their traditional to offer fitting shoe. He did mention that if we are not satisfied with the fit, we can always send the shoe back for adjustment. Or in the worst case, they can remake another pair. Price start @ ~850euro for polish tanned leather and ~50euro with french tannery leather.

He keep apologizing to me, explaining that this is the first time he attended this event and not sure what to expect... I am very tempted yet I can't decide on the spot hence I have my measurement taken by him in case I want to make a pair in the future I can send him an email :)

Spingyard shoe care is the subsidiary branding of Brunngård Sweden, also the main sponsor for this event carries shoe care product. From the usual like polish, wax, brushes, buffing cloth, shoehorn to insole (Springyard sense) for various season.
One interesting range of product they carry are the "shoe therapy" range. Product under this range are eco friendly to the environment. The solvent are biodegradable and will not harm environment. They have working on this product range for couple of years and finally they are certified by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency as eco friendly. An interesting concept and remarkable feat I will say. Product under shoe therapy range includes waterproofing spray, cleaning spray, cream paste and refreshing spray.
Picked up some product from them. Will give review after back home and used them....

Daniel Wegan, the swedish gentlemen who head the bespoke department of G&G is here as well. Too bad I didn't have the chance to talk to him...

Myrqvist, a young brand under herrstil is making wave with their value for money collection @ 200euro. They carry a large range of design to start with. Their shoe are GYW and made in India, giving them a competitive run of money with other entry level shoe maker. I didn't stay too long at this booth as I need to  go for other agenda nearby the trunk show. More review of their shoe is available at Shoegazing blog.

When I’m back, the Super Trunks Show shoe shining competition has just started. It’s considered the highlight of this event where 3 contestants (Anders Sundström, Jonathan Petersson and Johan Wennerholm this years) will be competing to come up with the best shine in 20 minutes on a pair of Loake 1880 Aldwych! Imagine waxing and coming up with shine for one side of shoe in 20 minutes?! I can’t do that for sure. Anyway you can see the following pictures to judge for yourself how high their standard are. The winner take home a pair of Loake1880 and springyard shoe care product sponsored by the organizer and this year the winner is Johan Wennerholm. Thumb up to him!

The last agenda of the event is Q&A session where attendee can ask the professional in the field on the trend of classic men shoes. The host are Neus Benavent, store manager of Gaziano & Girling’s shop, Emil Jansson, founder of Skolyx and Emelie Stenlund, bespoke shoemaker and cobbler at Skomakeri Framåt and Södermalm’s.
Some attendee asked about the trend of the design and the last of classic men wear shoe and some asked about if the trend for classic men wear shoe is stagnant or will continue to peak.... Interesting session with a lot of interesting answer from the pro in the market. I am lucky to hear this session conducted in English as for the past 3 years it has mainly been conducted in Swedish.

Epilogue
When I booked the trip to Stockholm for Super trunk show 2017, I wasn't expecting anything except to attend the event and talk to the exhibitor. But when I am there, I was practically full of meet up drinking session with the well dressed gentlemen from scandianiva everynight. We talked about everything on sartorial and the difference between Asia and scandianiva. I feel very welcomed by the folks here. It's always nice to put an actual face to the IG guy you follow... You know who you are... : ) @datinventory @ jesperbrannstrom @michael.hakansson @thesh0e @ patrickmtpo @kbaskim @martinsenkristian @ j_ingevaldsson
I'm sure this will not the last trunk show for me....
Stay tune for my next adventure in Sweden.
