Scooby-Doo Binge Day 18

Late but I’m used to it now lol. Watched about half of season 2 of Mystery Inc! In retrospect, I definitely like this season more than the first one. No Shelma drama and the Fraphne drama isn’t super annoying to me.

Brad and Judy are here! They’re terrible, but I do find them hilarious lol. Marcie and Velma are cute! It’s been a bit since I watched the show and when I did, I didn’t pick up on the undertones. I do now though and they were in love! Poor Marcie, I wish she’d gotten to have a happier life.

The gang moments are really cute too, especially when they’re being supportive of Fred as he deals with everything going on in his crazy life

Lol, Stahl-Herz approved! Ok, so most movies I watch once and I'm ok with not watching another time. There are exceptions! In no particular order:

The Mark of Zorro from 1940 Starring Tyrone Powers. There is a three minute fight scene between Basil Rathbone and Tyrone and you're on the EDGE of your scene the entire time! They're knocking over things and dodging attacks! I had to pester my cousin for a week to watch it with me because he had the mindset that 'black and white movies are boring' and I was really happy when I saw that he was enjoying himself when he watched it!

1986 Transformers Movie - The visuals of the opening remind me of a painting. Also the soundtrack is 80's hair metal and synth - 90% of the reason why I love the movie, haha.

The Princess Bride. It's a classic for a reason. Need I say more?

The Dictator by and starring Charlie Chaplin. It's his only movie with sound! And the speech that he gives at the end of the movie is really good!

Sailor Moon The Movie The Promise of the Rose. Nostalgia mainly, this was my introduction to Sailor Moon! The scene where she uses the crystal to stop the meteor from crashing into earth will always stay in my head!

Castle in the Sky, as well as most Ghibli movies! Castle in the Sky was my first Ghibli movie. I was at a friend's house and they asked if I had ever watched it before. I said 'no' and she went to the computer and searched it up on Youtube. This was back when you could watch movies on there without it being an at least 20, 10 minute parts.

RRR. A movie that came out two years ago and it's three hours long! But it's so over the top that it goes back around to being hilarious! Also I love the historical fiction aspect of it as well as the songs!

The Son of Monte Cristo (1940) starring Joan Bennett and Louis Hayward. This one comes from that one camping trip that I was bored and the only movie that my aunt had to watch was a TCM dvd that had a version of Cerano de Bergerac as well as The Son of Monte Cristo. I watched it a handful of times and enjoyed it, even though I had to skip a scene or two because the dvd was scratched and it'd get stuck on some scenes.

White Christmas starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. It's always a classic movie to watch around christmas time. The songs are really good as well.

Scooby Doo and KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery (and most of the other Scooby Doo movies). This one is so fun to watch! The scene were KISS reveals that their aliens that use the power of rock and roll to fight evil, AND the fact that their spaceship is shaped like a guitar will always be hilariously cool! Also can't forget the music! The 'I was Made for Loving You' scene will always be what I think of now whenever I hear that song, haha!

Scooby-Doo Binge Day 21

So, I did another 10 hour binge today! Unfortunately, the stuff I watched hasn’t been as enjoyable as my last 10 hour binge. Frankencreepy was great, though it’s definitely lower on my list than it was before the binge. It’s still a super fun movie, though! Some really funny scenes and really cute gang moments.

Ghastly Ghost was fun too, Velma was adorable getting so excited about Soccer. Beach Beastie was great, Fred getting over his net addiction was funny and the gang helping him avoid nets was cute.

Now, on to the other two movies I watched. I didn’t really like either of them. I may have even…disliked one of them 🫢 I’ll give them another watch before I cast my final verdict, but it’s not looking too good for Moon Monster Madness or Kiss.

The latter felt surprisingly bland to me. It had very few cute gang moments and it focused a lot on other characters that I didn’t care too much for. Not saying it’s a bad movie, it just wasn’t for me. Maybe I just don’t like the movies with big cameos since I didn’t super enjoy Wrestlemania, either. I liked it more than Kiss, though. Daphne’s whole thing with Starchild was weird and I wasn’t a fan. There was a Fraphne jealousy plot and I have no idea if they’re together or not, even more so than usual!

Now, onto Moon Monster Madness. This is the one that I may dislike. I was a bit surprised because I heard good things about it, but I did not have a fun time with this movie. I’m glad they gave us a cute gang moment at the beginning with them cheering for Daphne before her driving test, because that was pretty much my only “awe” moment. The rest of the movie was the gang not talking to each other and Velma being mean to Daphne. I suppose the reason they gave for her behavior makes a bit of sense, but it doesn’t justify the level of maliciousness she exhibits! It only served to make me angry. There were certain lines that really got on my nerves, I don’t think I can say it all here, I may need to make a separate post. The best part of the movie was Ridley, I had a great time with her.

Finally, I got about halfway through season 1 of Be Cool Scooby-Doo. Surprisingly, I’m not enjoying it very much. It’s not about the art style, I’m able to look past it tbh. It’s mainly about the dynamics. There’ve been very few sweet gang moments so far and it’s making me sad. This show probably has the most self-involved portrayals of the gang ever. Well, except for Daphne, she still seems like she cares

I’m really not getting the vibe that they’re best friends or that they really care about each other. It’s still a funny show, so that keeps me from outright disliking it, but there are so many moments I don’t like. The gang not caring that Daphne’s birthday is overlooked or Scooby allegedly never being brave enough to have ever saved any of his friends are examples of characterizations that don’t jive well with me.

i am once again mourning all the fun english-language writers could have with supernatural possession if we only had a pronoun for "(subject)'s own"

like. ok. look at this sentence with no scene context whatsoever. pay no attention to the mishmash of fandom characters/vibes of another excellent crossover of these two worlds for the moment and just work with me here.

Lewis propped up Arthur's body with his good arm and a grunt, aiming the phantom arm up at the trees, then Shaggy ordered, "Like, get lost, man!"

this is all with Arthur's body while Arthur himself is not currently inside it but three other entities are. ergo, it is not Lewis's or Shaggy's own arm that is propping up Arthur's body, but it is the arm that they have to use at the moment.

plus when everybody's back in the right bodies there can be an emphasis on the "their own" pronoun(s) as they go about recovering from the Chaos™!!! not to mention the much more common gay fanfiction dilemma wherein it's hard to decipher which "he" or "she" or "they" or what-have-you is doing a Thing when multiple people with the same pronouns are in the scene!!!!! please english why can't we have this

I always feel so bad for Shaggy in this episode to find out one of his old friends was the culprit and not only that, but she endangered Scooby’s life too. Shaggy has every right to feel upset and betrayed by Meadow’s actions.
