PSA: Shaun King is a fraud! Don't support him!
Currently my insta feed is full of Palestinians demanding Shaun King's account be reinstated. There are more Shaun King posts than there are posts about Palestine. Most Palestinians on there don't know he's a fake. Idk if he was taken down for posting about Gaza or for committing fraud (again) but
Please tell your Palestinian friends/followers this guy is a fraud! He stole money from Tamir Rice's mother, had multiple "fundraisers" for various causes and kept the money, and most recently claimed to have literally rescued Israeli hostages. He was also selling "memberships" on his Instagram where supporters could give him $5/month to keep making Instagram posts. This is well-documented. People in Palestine don't know this guy's history and don't have time to vet him, so please make sure you tell them if you see them posting him, especially if you know any large influencers!
Black activists have been warning the world about this guy for years.

Motaz posted ''follow Shaun King" in his IG story today. It's not his fault, or even his concern at this point, but Shaun King is a notorious misogynoiristic grifter that Black women have been trying to warn us about for years and one of the people who have also been exploiting the pro-Palestinian movement. Motaz has taken the story down, probably having been informed, but it just means that we have to be more careful ourselves and make it known to as many people as possible who to avoid. Palestine deserves more than the scum of the earth exploiting its suffering to inflict the same on other marginalized and innocent people.

like i said before, i don't mess with shaun king like that, but that being said, many things about one thing can be true at the same time. it is very clear that there is a wave of censorship happening across social media against pro-palestinian content in favor of israeli propaganda. so whether or not you like shaun or not, it is very clear what is happening and why. there is clearly a genocide happening in gaza that is being perpetuated by colonizing power. a genocide against an indigenous population for land, resources, and power. basically the same thing america did to the natives here. had it not been for people like shaun king (flawed as he may be), many people would not be aware of the heinous acts of israel against the palestinian people right now. so even as someone who is not a shaun king fan, i am not so myopic in my view of things to not realize that he served a positive purpose when it comes to the israeli genocide of palestinians.
on a much larger scale, whenever a platform or a power attacks someone popular, one of the goals is to send a message to everyone else that they are not safe and that they should back off. it's like a football coach picking on and cursing out their hall of fame quarterback. when everyone else who isn't as popular or powerful sees that on the team, they immediately realize that they must fall in line or worse can happen to them. that's the goal of banning shaun king from ig. however as a black man who understands how connected all oppressive systems are, we cannot slow down. may i remind all my brothers and sisters that israel is where police forces like the nypd go and train in abusive violent tactics, which they then come back to america and overwhelmingly exercise on black and brown bodies. so if you think this does not affect you, you are sadly and deeply mistaken. additionally, this kind of censorship is going to spread. if we don't fight back, it won't be long before you will be arrested for speaking out against israel. this is what israel wants, and they have the money and political power to make it happen. you can either sit back and let it happen or you can fight back. however, make no mistake, it's coming, and this is the first major blow that the enemy has struck in their offensive against our free speech.

Reminder that even if someone dislikes Shaun King and Standing Together (King is a fraud, the other an org that doesn't advocate for a free Palestine in any meaningful way) it does not mean that someone is a good person.
I have seen plenty of opportunistic grifters/conspiracy theories glom onto the Shaun King hate train and use that to:
Spread antisemitic George Soros conspiracies
Spread literal antisemitism ("Jews run child sex trafficking rings" see below since original stories expired/"true ally Jews give up Judaism")
Be homophobic/transphobic or target orgs like Al Qaws that serve LGBT Palestinians for not being "morally pure" and supposedly taking Soros Money (they don't, and even if they did that's not how grants work)
Smear Palestinian activists like Issa Amro who have done good work for Palestine for literal decades and who have been tortured and imprisoned by the IDF multiple times in the last year.
There are many, many people, Palestinians and allies who you can follow who do none of these things.
Follow Motaz, follow Bisan, follow the Palestinian Youth Movement, follow Al Jazeera, follow Wael Al Dadouh, follow letstalkpalestine, follow anat.international, follow Adnan Barq, follow Mohammed El Kurd, follow Noura Erakat, follow Mariam Barghouti, main thing is to follow Palestinians, especially those on the ground in Palestine and those doing activism in the diaspora. They are on many social media platforms, instagram, twitter, facebook, etc.

The documented footage exposed a narrative to the world that was often overlooked. HE GAVE A VOICE TO PALESTINE IN AMERICA!
Over the course of this time he &Pro Palestine voices were heavily censored for exposing the TRUTH! I myself had my account temporarily disabled when I tried to share the release of Israeli hostages during the first humanitarian pause. 🤨 Crazy huh?
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SHARE FROM THE JOURNALISTS IN GAZA! They need our help to show what is going on there while international journalist are being kept out of Gaza! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 AS OF DECEMBER 25, 2023 more that 80+ Journalist have died while in Gaza…some were specifically targeted.
