The above statements are provably inaccurate, but hey it's a take that can be had. Sure. There's always more that could've been done.

Thing is, Anakin's story is one about personal responsibility. Per George Lucas, the core message of Star Wars, as a whole, is about you - dear viewer aged 6 to 12 who are starting to think for themselves - learning to be more selfless than selfish, more compassionate than greedy.

Anakin's story shows what happens when you don't do that.

Blaming the Jedi Order/Obi-Wan for what happened to Anakin is the same as arguing:

"Red Riding Hood getting eaten by the Wolf is her Mom's fault! What was she thinking, sending a child out to wander alone?! Of course she got eaten by a Wolf, she a kid, she don't know better!"

You can argue that. You can argue that Red Riding Hood's Mom should've gone with her to see Grandma. But that's not the point of the story, the point is "kids, don't try to take the quick/easy path because it's usually dangerous, and don't talk to strangers."

And I've yet to meet someone who would unironically blame Red Riding Hood's Mom. Because it's obvious that doing so would miss the point entirely.

Yet we do have a big chunk of the fandom whose takeaway from the Prequels is that Anakin's fall is on the Jedi's shoulders, even though that also misses the point.

That only indicates, to me, that what it's really about is...

For one generation, coping with a dislike of the Prequels. Trying to make them make sense and coming up with a headcanon that makes them "good," and nuanced.

For the younger audiences (first the one the Prequels were meant for but now also the Disney-era one), it's just them reciting what they've seen in the movies... which have been recontextualized and retconned through media written by people coming from that previous generation listed in point 1.

Cold comfort

CHARLIE COX is no stranger to period projects with movies The Merchant Of Venice with Al Pacino, Casanova alongside Heath Ledger, and Stardust opposite Claire Danes, as well as TV series Boardwalk Empire to his name.

The one-off 1970s espionage thriller Legacy might be another period piece, but he is at least moving forward through the decades. “It’s the most modern I have ever done,” he says.

Based on the novel by Alan Judd, the story is set in 1974 in the middle of the Cold War, when Cox’s character, Charles, joins MI6 as a trainee spy. “He has come from the Royal Engineers, which means he would have been posted in Belfast in the mid-1960s, and the back story we have mostly invented is that he was in the bomb disposal unit and probably lost his best friend,” says Cox.

“Because of that, he wanted to become more involved in what is referred to as ‘the front line of the war’, be it the Cold War or Northern Ireland, and saw the move to MI6 as being part of that.”

He is still training when asked to revive his former friendship with Viktor Koslov (Andrew Scott), a Russian diplomat he knew at university, with a view to “turning” him. But Viktor has his own agenda and reveals a shocking truth about Charles’ family that threatens to derail him personally and professionally.

“Andrew Scott happens to be one of my favourite actors of all time,” says Cox of the Olivier Award-winning star, who plays Moriarty in the Sherlock series.

“I had never met him, but we have the same agent, and I got his number and sent a text saying, ‘I really hope we get to work with each other’. Six months later, this came up.”

He knows another of his co-stars, Romola Garai, who plays fellow agent Anna, extremely well because he introduced her to his best friend, Sam Hoare, and the two now have a daughter together.

“Before I found out she was going to be doing it, I got a text from him saying, ‘Buddy, you’re going to be kissing my wife’.” Cox says.

In preparation, Cox watched “a few cool documentaries about the period” and understands the enduring fascination with the Cold War. “The fact that there wasn’t any actual fighting [in the West] is really intriguing,” he says.

“And I know in my life, impending doom is so much worse than something actually happening, because when it does, you can rationalise it in some way and take some action. “But when you are waiting for something that could happen, your mind goes into all the different scenarios, and living with that [creates] a sense of vulnerability.”

He has a small but pivotal role in a movie with the working title Dracula Untold under way. “Yes, more vampires, obviously we are not bored of them yet – or maybe we are,” he says. “I am only doing two scenes, but it is a bit different for me, very evil. He is described as the father of all vampires. Other than that, I am not sure what’s coming up.”

Maybe something contemporary? “Oh yeah,” says Cox. “I’d love to say ‘Mate’ in a movie.”

As a huge movie buff, I thought I'd try something fun on here. I have decided to launch a new internet challenge: "The 100 Favorite Movies Challenge". The rules are pretty simple and straight forward. Western Animated Movie Sequel Timeline

For reference... On how few theatrical animated movie sequels were made in the West vs. how many have been made since the early 2000s... (Streaming titles like THE SEA BEAST 2 will be included, because these are big budget enough to have been theatrical releases.)

Titles highlighted in blue have commas in them, this denotes that you're not looking at two separate titles. (Just in case you happen to not know-)

I also won't include reboots. For example: The upcoming Paramount Animation film TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM, which despite being a TMNT movie, it has no other relation to the Imagi Studios 2007 TMNT movie. The same goes for the two SMURFS reboots, 2017's THE LOST VILLAGE and Paramount's untitled upcoming musical.

I'll also leave out animated movies that are part of franchises that are largely live-action, like STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.

Heather as Tenel Ka Djo (Queen Mother outfit -- described below) from the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series (feat. Nate as Caedus/Jacen!)

This Tenel Ka outfit was loosely based off of DiHA-Artwork's Art Nouveau Queen Mother piece and I want to fix it someday to fit the art better (like how do I even re: actual hair?) -- who knows if I can fit into the dress anymore though, oyyy. I also need to fit the cape and shoulder armor together better (thanks to Abby for helping me clip it on here!)... I need to experiment with everything but originally this was worn in 2013 and I haven’t done anything costume-related in years BUT ONE DAY I WILL FFFFFFFFF.

A bit from the original post about this outfit that will always fit: This little area in the atrium of the Gaylord National worked perfectly for photos and we all joked about LOL SECRET HAPAN GARDENS and all that jazz because at the end of the day we are a bunch of Star Wars geeks and always will be. ;)

I got a few new followers, so I thought I’d introduce myself. My URL is a nod to the Inklings, the famous literature study group, Tolkien belonged to. 

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English and German Literature (I wrote my BA Thesis about Dracula and Carmilla) and I am about to start my traineeship to become a bookseller in September in a Christian Bookstore. My native language is german (my archdiocese is Cologne ^_^). I am 35 years old. I am also Roman Catholic.

One of the more prominent topics on this blog is my journey through self-discovery. I started to question my sexuality in 2013 when I started University. I have been through all kinds of labels: lesbian, genderfluid, bisexual etc. But none felt safe or fitting for me, because I am also a faithful Roman Catholic. 

I am suffering from type 3 adiposity. On top of that I have been a victim of bullying for over a decade during school. These things all tie together and I talk about mastering this journey in the hopes of helping others who might go through similar. Always feel free to send me a DM if you wanna talk. 

Now to the fandom part. In the past I got a few angry dms, telling me to stop posting queer content even though I have a very good tagging system. So, no: I won’t stop posting queer content.

A Guardian investigation has identified former University of California, Irvine (UCI) lecturer Jonathan Keeperman as the man behind the prominent “new right” publishing house Passage Press and the influential Twitter persona Lomez. The identification is based on company and property records, source interviews and open-source online materials. The reporting has revealed that Keeperman’s current status as a key player and influential tastemaker in a burgeoning proto-fascist movement came after years of involvement in far-right internet forums. Much of that journey coincided with his time at one of the country’s most well-regarded writing programs: Keeperman first came to UCI as a master of fine arts (MFA) student, and was also a lecturer in the English department from 2013 to 2022, according to public records. The emergence of Passage Press and other such publishers has been a key part of the development of a swathe of the current American far right, which is seeking to capture US institutions – or develop far-right equivalents – as part of a political and cultural war against what it sees as the dominance of a liberal “regime” in America. In a June 2023 podcast interview, Keeperman characterized Passage Press and its literary prize as part of this effort to “build out alternative infrastructure, alternative institutions”. It is a fight wholeheartedly embraced by Donald Trump and his supporters in the Republican party, especially in their railing against “the deep state” and promises of retribution should Trump win the 2024 presidential election. The Guardian repeatedly contacted Keeperman requesting comment on this reporting, at a personal Gmail address and a Passage Press address, and left a voicemail message at a telephone number that data brokers listed as belonging to Keeperman, but which carried a message identifying it as belonging to a member of his household. Keeperman did not directly respond to these requests. However, hours after a request on 1 May, “Lomez” on X castigated “lying, libelous journalist-activists” and appeared to make veiled legal threats. Another detailed request was sent on 5 May, and just an hour later, Passage Press’s star writer posted about a “major legacy media outlet threatening to dox a pseudonymous Twitter account”.
