Finished arthdal chronicles, and gonna tell you, I did spend many episodes thinking "wait a minute, asa hon left that place she was living to go to iark, like, okay, but she left those 2 neanthal children in there alone in the florest and those soldier just killed the other adult that was taking caring of them with her.... Like, yeah, neanthal are stronger than saram people, but they are still kids and no more than 10 years old and they are still being hunted........ and there isn't a kid missing? ragaz had two babies with him when he found asa hon......." Only after Yiseuroobeu said that he was many years older than Rottip that I was like "phew, those two kids wheren't left by themselves" bc at first I thought Yiseu was that other kid that was holding newborn eunseom

Arthdal Chronicles ep1: a few thoughts after rewatching

(NOT spoiler free)

1. This episode was somewhat confusing the first time around. A lot of characters show up briefly while we still don’t know them or have much context to place them in. Going in the second time, with all the context, definitely changed the way the episode felt. That is to say, it was better the second time.

2. This time around I got the distinct impression that all three of the Neanthal that attended the parley with their leader were much more open to working together with the Saram. Ragaz and the translator woman certainly gave some very wistful looks toward certain parties on the other side. But the leader was probably right to do what he did. There’s no way the leaders of Arthdal would have been content to work side by side with the Neanthal. They would always have been looking for ways to be able to control them and the Neanthal would probably have ended up another race of slaves looked down on as inhuman.

3. The fourth Neanthal in the parley scene we can now identify as Yiseuroobeu, who returns in later episodes. I really hope we get to see a lot more of him. He looks SO much like Ragaz that I wonder if they’re meant to be related. Ragaz’s father? Older brother? Either way, that would be family for Eunsom and Saya.

4. Along with everyone else, I NEED a Asa hon/Ragaz love story. Also some AU fanfics where Ragaz doesn’t die because he looks like he was such a good father. In fact, the brief glimpse we get of the Neanthals going to their celebration show them to be very family-oriented. Another way in which they differ from the Saram who, at least for the elite, are more likely to fight and manipulate their family.

5. Just give me a whole pre-Arthdal Chronicles Neanthal spin off, please! I love them and I NEED MORE OF THEM.

6. Tagon. Watching him with knowledge of the future in this episode was... difficult. Seeing the hints on his face that I couldn’t read before showing how desperate he is to please his father... And the way he looks at Tealha when she first shows up. You can see the love there. “Tealha’s here. Everything will be alright.” His face visibly relaxes and I don’t think it’s just because of the alcohol.

7. I think the reason Tagon won’t tell her what his plan is with Saya is because he doesn’t have one and never did. It was a whim to take the baby. A brief flash of fellow feeling. Perhaps wondering, when I was this young did my father already hate me?

8. Asa hon. Asa hon. Asa hon. You are an incredible woman. The hardships you went through might have broken you in the end, but you earned your rest. You loved and you lost and you kept on loving. Brave, open-minded, a heart as large as all of Arth. You are the first hero of this whole story.

9. Eunsom’s tree house remind you of anyone else’s tree house? Yep.

10. Just fuck Asa ron and Hae Mihol standing there gloating over genocide. If they don’t both die before the end I’m going to be pissed.

"Your choice is always more important than anyone else". - Yiseuroobeu ( Neantal ) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ArthdalChronicles part II finale was excellently epic. if i will describe both part of the series,i would say that its an exceptional,finest work of art.kudos to the whole team behind this.🙌❤ Tanya & the girls was helped by Neantals,that was great but its so easy to capture Tanya again.cheers Neantals!Saya reckless action to meet Tagon was great,love their lines.so Tagon knew Saya liked Tanya,yass!Mihol plan to put down Tagon by using Tanya, gosh,the in-depth plot is amazing.Saya worrying about Tanya is cute.Eunseum's plan to get out of the cave was moving.Eun is fighting for Tanya,omg,i sensed a conflict between the twin.the friendship formed at the cave was awe-inspiring,i love how resilient they are.Mihol trying to deceive Tagon was a thrilling part & how Tagon is working w/ Saya is cool.Tanya & Taealha fake fight scene was intruguing,love how they secretly communicate.Mihol & Asa Ron plan shocked me,whoa,that was a nice twist.the hallicinogen given to Tanya,gosh,that got me so nervous,haha.Saya spreading the news to white mountain & the people going to Great Shine was aborbing.
