So I found my old EarthClan art...
This stuff has to be from, what, mid-middle school? There’s no dates so I can’t say exactly when this is from, but wow. Also you can see how much the way I used to draw cats changed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are also maps I drew of EarthClan’s camp, territory, and the land around it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not much has changed, but apparently there used to be a boathouse/dock/campground? at the far end of the Lake. I’m not sure if I moved that to the ocean by StreamClan or if I forgot about it, but that’s a thing that was there.
Also, apparently there were several Tribes/Clan-like groups who also lived in the area. For some reason all the Tribes lived really close tp each other, way down across the road by a mountain range. The other Clan(?) lived kind of diagonally from EarthClan, also by the Lake. I’m not sure if I changed any of these into the predecessors of the current Clans. Maybe the Clan of Growth became NatureClan or the Tribe of All Nature?
In case you can’t read my handwriting, the other groups were: Tribe of Long Whiskers, Tribe of Bird Jumpers, Tribe of Brown-Soft Earth, Tribe of Dark Earth, and Clan of Growth. ...I don’t know how I came up with these, to be honest.

What if we were ex-Clan cats who formed our own little group after being removed from the Clan under mysterious circumstances and we were both W. D. Gaster 😳😳😳

I tried to use search before asking, so apologies if this has already been covered, but I was wondering - what's the dynamic between humans and housepets in BB? The original books tend to frame housecat life as dull and stifling even in the eyes of housecats themselves, in line with the popular opinions among people who oppose the idea of keeping cats indoors. Is that maintained here, maybe in light of the fact that cats in this universe are highly intelligent animals whose needs are less likely to be met by the common pet owner, or are there housecats in BB who are happy with their housefolk? Are there housecats who see and bond with their housefolk as family? How well do humans meet their pets' needs, broadly speaking; does Albion hold similar perspectives and/or policies to the UK on cat care and stray management as far as indoor-outdoor?
This is where the logical conclusion of cats having been sapient all along kind of starts to clash with canon's... weird thoughts on what normal cats should be able to do
For the record: Unequivocally I advocate for keeping cats inside. Outdoor cats are bad, for the cat and for the environment. This goes for the UK too, your cat is not special, it is a killing machine, England did not evolve to accommodate millions of free predators.
(An overpopulation of predators starves and kills the excess, and then prey populations rise in turn in a natural cycle. Domestic animals are fed by humans which keeps the population artificially high, interrupting this cycle)
But, the thing is:
REAL cats are not sapient. They're animals. BB cats have human intelligence.
(Even canon... that's not a cat. Cats don't form language, or make government, or have a concept of land stewardship.)
SO here's how things are different in Albion;
Only domestic cats are sapient. Something about domestication quirked cats, specifically.
This ONLY hit cats; probably because they domesticated themselves instead of on purpose by humans.
Lynxes, servals, lions, etc, exist but are nonsapient.
Probably because of their ancestry, cats don't naturally form large, structured society. The average clowder is a loosely connected group of friends and family.
It's normal and not damaging for cats to go several months living alone, unlike a human. They don't NEED to live in groups.
So culture can die pretty quickly if a clowder is interrupted in some way. They don't have a problem with taking their closest relatives and striking out.
SEE: The Nomadic Group that BB!Jake/Sparrow is part of, Wind Coalition homesteads, the cats that live in the various farms above Ravenpaw and the Barleys.
3 - 5 is the group average. Usually half of the members will be related and kittens leave at a certain age (usually 2 or 3)
15 cats is a large clowder. Clan cats are an anomaly with densely populated "Clans."
but Clan cats are absolutely put to shame by the tribe, which has 3 Wards which are practically cat cities of 50+
The most common types of romance closer resemble BloodClan's matriarchy or Smoky's polycule. Clan cat romance is also an anomaly.
The average size of a litter is 2, as opposed to canon which is 3, and opposed to reality which is 4 - 8
They are also very unlikely to ever birth more than 6 litters. Most reproductive cats will have 2.
Like humans, they also don't have a litter at the first onset of puberty. First litters tend to come around 2 years.
So to begin with, these cats aren't like real ones. A single pair of real cats can have over a hundred children in their lives.
They also have a more drawn-out adolescence. 6 months is the START of puberty; similar to being a 13-year-old human.
But anyway, onto HOUSECATS
Unequivocally the best way of life, even for these cats.
They do have a habit of jimmying open objects, more than real cats. There is a large market for "pet aware" design, like inlaid locks on windows, chains on fridges, and jams in drawers.
However. They are just as lazy.
Feline-specialist biologists have to come up with "tricky" trials to test their intelligence. Cats do not care about pleasing humans like dogs do.
Rural areas are best for keeping these cats. They do really well on farms.
People who keep cats in car-infested or dense areas are advised to keep their cats indoors. Not only are cars and crowds a danger, but ferals are often hostile towards so much crowding.
In some ways, you can compare these cats to monkeys more than cats, with their troop structures.
AND SPEAKING OF MONKEYS...
Like monkeys, problem clowders are subject to animal control raids. It is NOT unheard of that a clowder gets territorial or starts biting people.
Usually the individual cat is captured and dealt with. Sometimes the problem is so bad that there will be a roundup.
That's excessively rare though. These are very politically unpopular, people love cats.
And cats love people! There's really bad and awful people out there, and really bad and awful cats; but they're the exception, not the rule.
There's a sentiment in the universe that dogs are direct and cats are roundabout; cats are occupied with puzzle toys and novelty, dogs like to be commanded.
They respond to music like parrots. Jessy can change a record in her owner's victrola. Her owner is a himbo and just thinks it's a trick her previous owner taught her, not stopping to question how she had an old owner who also had a victrola and taught her how to change records. In 2012
Cats are still easy to keep, in spite of all the additions. A really smart cat can be entertained with toddler toys. Most are fine with a friend and 30 mins of playtime a day.
They do a lot of sleeping.
Most cats do get neutered and spayed at 6 months. Housecats don't usually see it as a big deal, or chalk it up to the price of a good home.
Clan cats find that SHOCKING and sickening. How can you think something like that is not a big deal??
But they just... don't. BloodClan too.
Clan cats are taught to fear lots of aspects of housecat life, which feeds into their xenophobia. It wasn't always THIS bad-- it really turned for the worst under Flystar of SkyClan.
But anyway forget them for a moment
There ARE a few downsides of being a housecat. There's a total lack of agency here, for one
Bumble and Turtle Heart couldn't control their owners adopting Tom. Twolegs often take kits at a certain age, and you may never know where they went.
A human can die and not have a home for you to go to. They can be abusive or neglectful. A new one can be brought in who hates or can't be around cats.
Problems, but, not INHERENT ones y'know? Most housecats do have good homes.
Anyway, TL;DR
BB!Cats are slightly different than real cats because I am leaning into the fact that they speak a real language, with the higher intelligence that implies.
In addition, I treat Housecats as a "Culture" to fix, on the same level as the other canon groups that get treated as inferior to Clan cats (Tribe, Guardians, etc). "Culture" because, obviously, Every Single Housecat Ever doesn't share a culture lmao. But I hope that makes sense.

The Sea and the Storm (abbreviated TSatS) is an 18+ Warrior Cats-inspired roleplay run over discord. The Sea and the Storm follows the cats of a singular clan, Bluffclan, located on the coast of Alaska, as they struggle to survive in the unforgiving environment. In this roleplay, the main challenges faced by the clan do not come from other clowders, but instead from other predators who are equally desperate to thrive in the territory they call home.
This story is just beginning, and it's up to you to decide where it goes..... keep an eye out for future news regarding player openings!

BuddingClan About
Tumblr media
BuddingClan, formally FlintClan, is a small clowder of felines who live within a rocky meadow nestled within deep forested mountains. Deep beneath their territory lays The Moonlit Caverns, the various clans' connection to their ancestors. After a pack of wolves found their camp, only four cats - an apprentice and three kits - remain, re-naming their clan as a sign of needing to start anew.
Allegiance (as of moon 03)
BuddingClan has no high ranks. BuddingClan has no warriors.
Cliffpaw is a dark ginger tabby trans tom with white paws and tail-tip. He has one yellow eye, the other having been taken by a wolf, leaving a large scar across the left-side of his face. He has a confident personality and is an avid play-fighter and quick witted.
Dashpaw is a brown mackerel tabby with an entirely white hindquarters. He has blue eyes and a large scar across his stomach. He is very charismatic and has a morbid curiosity.
Amberkit is a primarily white she-kit with a brown tail and ear-caps. She has copper eyes, a scar across her muzzle, and a patch of fur missing from her tail. She is a bit of a daydreamer and is quick to help.
Flipkit is a light rosy-brown speckled tabby molly with pale blue eyes. She is impulsive and never sits still.

Haypaw was the only one in the cave this morning, the rest of the clowder out hunting. As he was bouncing down the grassy steps inside he heard faint pawsteps behind him. “Willowsplash?” He called out, turning around. Instead of his mentor’s familiar brown coat, he saw a faint glimmer of cream in the early morning sun shining into the cave.
“Greetings, Haypaw.” The mystery cat said, his voice carrying through the cave with utter clarity. Haypaw jumped back, claws unsheathed. “Who- Who are you!” He hissed, back arched. The cream tom let out a rumbling laugh as he padded down the stepping stones into camp.
Haypaw narrowed his eyes, realizing that the glimmer before wasn’t just a trick of the sun. As the tom stepped into the shade of the cave his pelt still shone with stars. Haypaw stood up straighter now, pelt burning with embarrassment.
“I am Snailtrail,” spoke the starclan cat, gaze turned towards the camp. It was beautiful; a lush cave that was practically teeming with plant life. He turned to Haypaw, a now serious look on his face. “Listen closely, Haypaw. This is important. 100 Moons from now, the kin of your kin will save this clan from utter destruction. Remember this...” As he spoke, he faded away, leaving Haypaw in mute confusion. As Snailtrail’s figure disappeared completely, the patrol returned, prey and herbs clamped in their jaws.
Wisteriaclan isn’t in danger, is it? Haypaw thought, a nervous dread tugging at his heart.

something that strikes me about Smokyrose's death was that Sagetooth was RIGHT. The clans can't negotiate with the city cats, at least while Razor is in power. Sometimes violence is the answer, and in this case...yeah, the clans have every right to retaliate against Razor's clowder. Their land is being stolen, their food culled, their people harassed and mauled, being treated as inhuman (they're cats, but you get the idea), and any attempts at peace have been met with ruthless violence. The colonization themes are very present, and this story pulls it off well! (Also, Razor 100% reminds me of the "Toxic Alpha Baboons" study, where when the jackass alphas died, the rest of the colony mellowed out, and didn't tolerate any jackass behavior! I wouldn't be shocked if the city ends up a similar way when Razor dies, since his cult of personality heavily depends of his reputation as invincible and deadly.)
Yeah, as much as I may disagree with Sagetooth's reasoning as to why peace is impossible, she does happen to be correct in this instance. I'm really glad that the story has been accurately and enjoyably depicting the things I've been hoping it would.
That's a really interesting concept! I think there are one or two other cats (like Sardine and Tiger) who would have to go before the group was entirely purged of toxic alphas but that's honestly not that far-fetched of an outcome if everything works out right. Fingers crossed for the cats!

New Longstar AU - A Journey and A New Land
Between Books
Brambleclaw asks for his suffix, claiming it as his way to claim power over his dishonorable Sire.  That night, he wakes in a familiar place – the clearing where Tiger”star” was killed, and Bloodclan run off.  Brambleclaw bows as his father, belly leaking red and black and thorny vines, approaches.  Tigerstar’s grin is all teeth and menace, and he congratulates his kit for keeping the Clan’s trust in him…but this is only the start of their plans.
In Riverclan, Feathertail and Stormfur make their way.  The siblings notice that the former loners Hawkpaw and Mothpaw bear a small resemblance to Tiger”star”, but agree that even IF they were somehow his kits, that the blood of their sire makes no difference on who they will be.
In Shadowclan, Tawnypelt feels the weight of her sire’s sins around her neck.  With the help of Runningnose and Rowanclaw, she begins to heal.
In Windclan, Hopfoot announces his retirement, and Mudclaw is promoted to Deputy.  Hopfoot’s adopted son Crowpaw and niece Nightcloud prepare a nest especially for him.
In the Hope’s Rest Clowder, Darkstripe and Sasha have been noticing more signs of Twolegs around their Camp, and begin making plans to move the Clowder entirely.  A few cats express wishing to live in a forest.
In another place, an elderly cat named Skywatcher gathers Kittypets and Loners under his wings, hoping that others will come to take his burden and delight of a Clowder, and make them a Clan, before he passes away.
The Quest
In Thunderclan, the three kits of Longstar and Flamewish are being apprenticed.  Tactician Graystripe has deduced that Swiftpaw’s anxiety would lead to her being a terrible Hunter or Brawler, and suggests Nursery Guard, which she happily accepts, apprenticing to Goldenflower and Brackenfur.  Foxpaw wants to be a Warrior, and apprentices under Brightheart as her lead Mentor, with other cats there to help her learn other skills. Darkpaw asks to be mentored in the art of Healing, and apprentices under Fireheart and Cinderpelt.
Foxpaw is annoyed that Brambleclaw keeps interrupting her training sessions to give advice and tells him so to his face.  He sputters, and gives a non-apology, but does back off.  Brightheart thinks that he must be trying to be a better cat than his father, but Snowthorn just thinks he’s trying too hard.  Shrewpaw makes funny faces behind Brambleclaw’s back during the non-apology and makes Foxpaw laugh.
Swiftpaw and Foxpaw tell their parents that they can sometimes talk to each other in their minds, and Historian Mousefur assures the worried parents that twin births sometimes Do That – it might be a Star Blessing, but that’s not always the case.
Darkpaw beings trying to figure out how to heal minds, as his father sometimes freezes up around the smell or sounds of dogs, and some cats are terrified of thunderstorms and even a hint of smoke on the wind.  Fireheart asks Starclan for guidance on how to best help his nephew, and the Spirit of Goosefeather begins showing up with Yellowfang to build this new kind of healing.
Foxpaw begins having dreams about distant salty waters and a badger with starry eyes, with the sun drowning, and talks to Fireheart about it. He suggests it may be related to the sightings of Twolegs around the forest, and takes Foxpaw and Longstar to the Moonstone.  They have a collective vision of the Clan lands being torn up by yellow Monsters, and of the Hope’s Rest Clowder being chased out of their camp by Twolegs with long silver looped sticks, and Longstar immediately starts making plans.
He sends a warning with Graystripe to the Hope Clowder, and warnings to the other Clans.  Riverclan denies that anything like that could happen, Windclan starts making preparations, and Shadowclan admits that Twolegs have been marking some of their trees with orange markings.  Hope Clowder is already mid move to a new Twoleg Den, one with more Twoleg decorations on it, but agree to be prepared to evacuate if Twolegs are sighted.
After some time has passed, Yellowfang appears to the whole LongFlame family one night, and says that Foxpaw needs to go on a Quest for a new home, as the Twolegs are planning to turn their territories into more Twoleg Dens.  Flamewish makes Yellowfang promise to keep an eye on Foxpaw, and Yellowfang says that there are other cats from the Clans coming too.  Foxpaw says goodbye to her family, her mentors, and Shrewpaw, before leaving.  She meets Tawnypelt, Crowpaw, and Feathertail and Stormfur at the border, but is bothered greatly when Brambleclaw shows up, saying he’ll keep her safe.
The Questers make their way through the Twoleg Territory, skirting past Hope Colony’s old home, and eventually meet an old tom named Purdy. He guides them the rest of the way, becoming the Quester’s Grandpa, and they are sad to see him go.  Crowpaw, Foxpaw, and Feathertail become close friends, with Tawnypelt and Brambleclaw bonding a little.  Tawnypelt notes that her brother is a little distant, but chalks it up to their separation. Stormfur thinks Foxpaw is cute, but she’s also not an adult so he shakes it off.  Crowpaw talks about how his parents found him – on the edge of the territory, sopping wet and terrified of unclear water.  Ashfoot spoke of seeing a ghostly cat running from him, and assumed that was his sire or queen.
(They will never know it was a cat named Pine, who once walked the world in Thunderclan.  He refused the gifts of Starclan for ages, and once he saved the innocent kit, he finally entered the fields he had abstained from.  For once, he did the right thing for a kit of his bloodline.)
They meet with the starry-eyed badger Midnight, who confirms that their home is to be destroyed, so they must Journey past the great mountain to find their new home.  As they leave, Midnight catches Brambleclaw by himself, and warns him that the path he walks leads only to a sudden sharp end.  He shakes her off and continues on his way.
The group goes up the great mountain, and are stopped by a patrol of cats wearing mud and berry paint in swirling patterns. They are escorted to the Coldstone Clowder camp inside of a cave, with a great waterfall, a wide floor, and great stone teeth hanging from the ceiling.  Feathertail shivers as she looks up, noting that they look so fragile.  One of the cats that escorted them in, Brook, states that they are the teeth of the Sky Cat, which protect them from evil.  The Questers meet with Stoneteller, both Leader and Seer, who advises them that he has Foreseen a silver cat stopping their Punishment - a Sharp Clawed Spirit that has tormented them for ages.  When Stormfur asks what their Clowder was being punished for, Stoneteller sighs, and tells them that the Clowder has forgotten their crimes, though they must have been great.  Foxpaw disagrees, this Spirit sounds like a Geist, and decides they must free the Clowder from their torments.
A plan is set – some freshkill is used to lure the massive Geist into part of the cavern, and then the Hunters, Stormfur, Brambleclaw, and Tawnypelt will leap on it and batter it.  Crowpaw, Foxpaw, and Feathertail will distract it, along with some of the faster Hunters and Scouts.  The plan starts perfectly – the great Geist comes into the cavern, its birch-bark pelt curling and jagged, its eyes dripping river weeds and mud.  Foxpaw streaks over its paws, dodging slime and tree sap, and the attackers jump on its back, peeling the bark back farther to release murky water.  This is what sends the plan reeling – Crowpaw sees the water and freezes.  The hunters are battered, and Brambleclaw curses Crowpaw for cowardice.  Feathertail sees a starry cat with silver fur, and sees what she has to do.
She runs for a craggy path, up to the stone teeth, and
She
   Leaps
      And
         F
           A
               L
                     L
                         S
Taking the largest stone tooth with her
It CRACKS into the Geist’s back, pinning it to the cave floor, sending sap and water and mud out in a wild wave, soaking Crowpaw and Foxpaw, who had leapt to Crowpaw’s defense.    The Geist scrabbles at the ground, and slowly whisps away like fog in a beam of sunlight, leaving only the clawmarks and the stone tooth, embedded in the floor as if it had grown there.  And atop it, Feathertail, silent and still.
Stormfur wails, rushing to the limp body of his sister, as Stoneteller and the other Coldstone Clowder cats gather incredulously.  Crowpaw leaps up to his friend, and screams. SHE’S STILL ALIVE!!!!!
Stormfur and Stoneteller carefully leverage the fallen cat to the softest nest the Clowder has, and Crowpaw lays at her head, apologizing over and over.  Stoneteller shoos him, and Crowpaw weeps against Foxpaw, who assures him that it wasn’t his fault, that any one of them could have freaked out.  Stoneteller declares that Feathertail will live, but he is unsure of what the damage to her back will do.  Brook comforts Stormfur, and Foxpaw makes Crowpaw laugh a little by joking about Brook making moves on Stormfur.
After a day, Feathertail wakes, but she can’t feel her hindquarters at all.  She stops Crowpaw from apologizing, and assures her friends that she will do her best to heal, but they have a job to do.  Stoneteller promises to take care of Feathertail like one of his own Clowder, and Brook swears to personally keep Feathertail cared for.  After a tearful goodbye, the five remaining Questers head down the mountain.  They break through a fog bank, and behold the vista below them.
A grand lake, surrounded by woodland and marshland and moorland and a winding river.  Birds fly past the group unafraid, and Crowpaw spies deer feeding in the distance.  A small Twoleg Den sits on one side, with a Barn and strange creatures dotting the Twoleg Territory there.  Near where the river meets the lake, another Twoleg Den sits, with a structure jutting out into the lake.  It gleams with the rising sun, and it’s as close to perfect as the Questers will ever find.
The group heads back to the Coldstone Clowder, and after transporting Feathertail to see the view, the five Clan cats head back the way they came.  Foxpaw tries to send Swiftpaw good vibes, but gets a strange feeling – like anxiety creeping up her tail and rooting in her spine.  Something is terribly wrong. And as they come into view of the Clan territories, and see the devastation that the Twolegs have wrought, and understand.
The Time Between
While the Quest was going on, the Twolegs had begun their attack on the territories.  All the Clans were under threat of starvation.  Windclan found themselves poisoned by prey.  Shrewpaw was nearly killed by a Monster – only saved by a shining Swiftspirit pulling him out of the way.  His leg was still broken, but he would live.  And worst of all, the Twolegs had set traps!  The Clans would have lost so many, save that Sandstorm led a rescue mission – at the cost of the Monster holding the prisoners stealing the brave molly away.
The Hope Clowder had better luck at least – their new home was safe, as their old camp had been destroyed by Monsters as well, but at least they had a place to stay!
Preparations were made to move.  Seers chipped pieces of the Moonstone away, to bring with them to their new home.  Herbalists gathered their plants into carriable containers.  Queens and Kings worked with Crafters to make kit-carriers.  Hunters and Trackers took down every prey they found, and butchered the meat into transportable parcels.
And then the Questers returned.
The Journey
Foxpaw fell into her family’s embrace, crying with joy.  Goldenflower held Brambleclaw, who reassured her he was FINE MA.  Stormfur informed Leopardstar of Feathertail’s injury, and was welcomed back by Hawkfrost and Mothwing.  Tawnypelt rushed into Rowanclaw, holding him like he was a treasure.  Crowpaw ran into camp calling for his parents, and was swept up in their embrace, Nightcloud and her mate Gorseflicker dancing around them as Tallstar watched.  Foxpaw was named Foxflight for her swift return, and she congratulated Swiftpool on her calm name.  And Crowpaw requested he be named for the bravest cat he knew, and became Crowfeather.
Within three days, the dens were dismantled, the histories gathered, and every cat accounted for. But some of the Elders were too tired and weak, and Mudfur is recovering from an illness.  As the Clans walked through the Twoleg Territory, a group of Hope Clowder cats stopped them – their leaders wanted to talk to the Leaders of the Clans before they left.
The Leaders, and the Elders so they could rest, were led to Darkstripe and Sasha, and Longstar asked what they wanted.  Sasha explains that some of their more spiritually sided cats have had visions of a distant Clan of cats that need help – do they know anything about this?  As she speaks, stars fall through a crack in the wall, and Willowpelt emerges.  She greets the tearful Darkstripe, and confirms that the records are missing something – there once were five Clans.
The fifth, Skyclan were banished after the Leaders decided the fifth Tree at what became Fourtrees meant that Skyclan needed to leave.  They were forced to split, some joining the Coldstone Clowder, others became Kittypets or Loners, and some joined the remaining Clans. The Leaders then forbid the Historians from ever speaking of Skyclan, leading to everyone forgetting them  This was terribly wrong of the past Leaders, and now some of their descendants needed aid.  Mudfur raises his head – I can do this.  Frostfur agrees, followed by Loudbelly, and a Windclan Elder named Hollowback, then a Shadowclan Elder named Yewtail.  Their Leaders confer, and agree as well, so long as the Hope Colony cats going along understand they’ll have to care for these treasured Elders.  The Colony cats are brought in, and fervently agree, one tom named Macguyver vows to see them to Skyclan if it’s the last thing he does.  The Elders say goodbye to the Clans, and the mass of cats departs.
As the Clan cats go up the mountain, an apprentice named Smokepaw almost falls off of a cliff, but is saved by Russetfur.  This sets off a chain reaction that leads the Clans to become closer.  Queens and Kings huddle together, their kits becoming friends.  Apprentices chatter with each other, sharing tongues and stories. Historians compare notes, and Crafters compare techniques.  Hunters and Trackers share notes and bring down prey together.  Swiftpool finds herself becoming enamored with Crowfeather, and Crowfeather begins getting a crush on Swiftpool.  Foxflight is not blind and needles them cheerfully, with the help of Shrewleg.  Notably, Onewhisker keeps close to a slowly wilting Tallstar, and seems to be brown-nosing, at least according to Nightcloud.  He only leaves the elderly Leader’s side to talk with Brambleclaw.
When the Clans reach the Coldstone Clowder, they shelter for a night in the cavern, Graystripe being reunited with Feathertail.  She gets teary at Crowfeather’s name, and she and Stormfur decide to stay behind in the Coldstone Clowder, feeling more at home there.
The Clans marvel at the sight of the New Territory, but some cats wonder if Starclan came with them.  These doubts are erased when every Senior Seer AND Healer get similar visions of past Seers or Healers, assuring them Starclan reaches as far as Silverpelt.  As the cats bed down for the night, Barkface summons the Leaders to meet with Tallstar.  When they enter the bush where Tallstar lies, it becomes very apparent what is happening.
Tallstar is dying, for the last time.
Mudclaw and Onewhisker stay at the entrance, Onewhisker shooting glares at the Deputy.  Tallstar weakly asks Leopardstar, Longstar, and Blackstar to help his chosen Deputy guide his clan, and as he passes, names…Mudclaw.  Onewhisker storms off, and Mudclaw lowers his head, mourning.
As this is happening, Hawkfrost and Mothwing meet with Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt, having deduced that the four share the same sire.  As they’re talking, Foxflight and Crowfeather trot over to say hello.
And the Riverclan siblings freeze.
Foxflight asks if they sat on slugs, and Mothwing shakily says that she’s seeing a Spirit, Hawkfrost’s wavering voice rising.  It’s our brother.  Tadpole.  We lost him when he…drowned… Crowfeather tilts his head.  I’m not named Tadpole, but…you look familiar…and tells his story.  Mothwing tears up – it’s you – oh Tadpole you’re ALIVE!!!  Hawkfrost is blubbering, beaming hopefully. Crowfeather, shaking a little, smiles weakly – I think I remember you, oh Moth, oh Hawk!  The three tumble into a teary embrace, with Foxflight and Tawnypelt cheering.  Brambleclaw looks…angry, that the attention is off of him, but hides it quickly. Of COURSE he would be excited about another sibling, he’s just shocked!
The next morning, as Windclan mourns Tallstar, many wonder how Mudclaw will gain his nine lives, with no Moonstone.  Darkpaw wonders as well, but is distracted by a tortie molly with a starry pelt.  He grabs Sorreltail, and they follow the cat until she leads them to a pool of clear, shining water.  With familiar shining stones at the bottom.  Darkpaw and Sorreltail race back to the group excitedly, and when the Healers come to the pool, they collectively agree that this will be their new Moonstone.  The Moonpool.  Darkpaw is given his Healer’s name on the spot by Cinderpelt – Darkmoon.
Settling In and Blood Spilt
The Clans settle into their new camps, and it’s busy for quite a while.  Camp Guards working with Crafters to weave new Dens, Herbalists and Healers planting their medicines and locating more, and Trackers and Hunters finding and tracking the lives of the new prey groups.  Foxflight finds herself bothered by Brambleclaw, finding solace in her pseudo-uncle Ashfur and his mate Flyshadow, and her best friend Shrewleg.  Eventually, they are forced to work together to drive off some Rogues that were harassing the border patrols of Thunderclan and Shadowclan.  Blackstar is furious that Longstar stepped in, but comically backtracks when Flamewish steps up. She had recently helped dive out a badger, and is Not Amused by Blackstar’s nonsense. We help each other, Moronstar!
Unfortunately, Onewhisker leads a revolt against Mudstar, claiming that Tallstar named HIM Deputy on his deathbed, and that Mudstar is a False Star.  This accusation brings Shadowclan supporters, and a fight breaks out, with Riverclan and Thunderclan supporting Mudstar.  As Onewhisker yowls angrily against Mudstar, a tree falls upon him, and he is crushed.  His body is retrieved, and the tree becomes the bridge to the new Gathering Place.  (Brambleclaw seethes, as his ally falls.  But he still has the Foxflight plan)
After some time, a Barn Cat named Daisy meets a patrol exploring the edge of the Twoleg Den.  She asks if they protect kits, which Cloudtail affirms.  She brings her three kits, Berrykit, Hazelkit, and Mousekit, to Thunderclan, saying that the Twolegs took her last litter, and she refuses to lose another to them.  Longstar welcomes her, and asks if she wishes to have a Clan name.  She passes, stating that she was named to honor her mother, and joins Thunderclan.  Cloudtail is attentive to her, which bothers Brightheart.  Thankfully, she communicates with her mate, and the three cats come to a romantic agreement.  The kits are delighted to have three parents!
Swiftpool and Crowfeather begin having a secret relationship, though not quite as secret as they think.  Hopfoot and Ashfoot exchange glances when their son looks so cheery, and Snowthorn pawspeaks jokes to Darkmoon about Swiftpool being obvious as a snowfall in Greenleaf.  Eventually, they decide to run away together, thinking that their Clans would never let them be together.  But that night they are stopped by Midnight, who tells them that her kin are attacking Thunderclan Camp.  The pair split up, Crowfeather running to Windclan for backup, and Swiftpool rushing for home.
She enters camp to pandemonium.  There are at least a half-dozen badgers, and she leaps at the one atop of Sootfur, saving his life.  As she helps drive them off, she hears Darkmoon scream in anguish, then sees him pin a badger with a bloody face.  Behind him, in front of the Healer’s Den, is a downed Cinderpelt.  Suddenly, a Windclan Battle Patrol bursts into camp, finishing off the badgers.  Swiftpool mourns the Healer alongside Darkmoon, Fireheart, and Flamewish, as Longstar confers with Mudstar.  Eventually, she and Crowfeather are called to meet with their leaders, and they confess their affair, waiting for their punishments.
But instead, Flamewish whoops delightedly, Mudstar sighs and mutters about idiots not talking to their Leaders, and Longstar pats them gently, you are not subtle kits.  Right there, Windclan and Thunderclan create a cross-clan relationship rule – so long as the Clans are at peace with each other, cats may be in relationships.  The moon remains bright and clear, and Swiftpool and Crowfeather have official permission to date.  The rule is added to the code at large, though Leopardstar seems somewhat iffy about it.  But if the Stars approve, then who is she to deny them?
After some time, Brambleclaw keeps trying to flirt with Foxflight, even though she’s mates with Shrewleg.  Eventually Fireheart steps in, and gives Brambleclaw a talk about consent, and taking NO for an answer. This is interrupted by Cloudtail rushing into camp with an injured Berrykit, who snuck out and got his tail stuck in a Twoleg snare.  He loses the tail, but lives, and is scolded for leaving camp by himself.  Brambleclaw gets an idea.
He meets every so often with Hawkfrost on the border, the pair complaining and training together.  Hawkfrost admits to once having a dream of Tiger”star” calling him, but denied it after seeing a moth float by. It reminded him of the one time that he tried to fake a sign to make Mothpaw a Healer, but there was already a moth’s wing at the Healer’s Den.  The pair both wish to be Deputies, and plan to become Leaders together.
On the evening of their last meeting, Hawkfrost feels a sense of unease.  As he approaches the meeting place, he hears a commotion, and finds Longstar trapped by a Twoleg snare on his neck, Brambleclaw standing over him.  Hawkfrost is horrified as Brambleclaw speaks, help me kill him, and Whitestorm when he makes me Deputy, and I’ll help you kill your opposition.  We will rule TOGETHER!
And Hawkfrost?
Says NO!
The pair clash, with Hakfrost getting knocked around by the Miretrees-trained Brambleclaw, eventually being thrown next to Longstar.  He sees the snare-thorn, and as Brambleclaw leaps at him, grabs the snare-thorn in his mouth
                                                                               And
                                                                                        Stabs
Brambleclaw falls on Hawkfrost, and the Riverclan tom shoves his half-brother off, the snare-thorn lodged deeply in the Traitor’s throat.  He frees Longstar, who coughs weakly, and thanks Hawkfrost for helping him.  Blood spills into the lake. Hawkfrost vows to never become Leader – he will support his clan, but the shine of Leadership has been forever tainted by hot blood and shocked amber eyes.
(Brambleclaw wakes, coughing up blood and black ooze.  His father sneers, what a failure…but we will try again)
And Swiftpool realizes she’s pregnant.
(Crowfeather denies that he fainted, it was a Manly Swoon. Foxflight disagrees heartily)

And we start Year 2 by showing off the roster of the cats who have died since the beginning of the game. Moving forward, I'll start off every yearly update by drawing the cats who've died during that year, so you won't be seeing me draw these guys again unlike the living cats. Also don't expect constant updates--that'd kill my ass.
Now onto our recently (and not so recently) deceased! Coatidance | female | died 103 moons old | righteous / smart While she was alive, Coatidance was an absolute firecracker who tended to leave Kestrelwhisper and Fumblefreckle in the dust. She died after overestimating her own swimming ability and ended up with too much water in her lungs. Coatidance takes her job as the clowder's spiritual guide very seriously and tries her best to make the transition between life and death smoother for her clanmates. Clayfeather | male | died 23 moons old | bold / good teacher Clayfeather took his death rather well, despite dying so young and so soon after the clowder's founding. He sees death as a new adventure, though he is glad that he'll never have to experince drowning again. He has took a shine to Deltapaw, and has promised to help the apprentice in searching for his father's spirit. Kestrelwhisper | male | died 156 moons old | childish / valuable tactician The oldest of the original trio, Kestrelwhisper was very mindful of what he and his elderly mate could do. He dealt with chronic joint pain and started having memory problems after the loss of Coatidance. He realized something was wrong on the night he died, but he decided to spend his last hours watching the sun rise out of the ocean. He still loves Fumblefreckle, but is glad to see him beginning to move on. Deltapaw | male | died 10 moons old | strict While Deltapaw's mentor was officially Tawnyripple, he was usually trained by Slipleap and Cloudlight as a group in his early apprenticeship. Deltapaw wasn't happy about this at first, but he grew to like having them around. He had even started to open up to his Gravelspeck when his life was cut short after he was swept away in a flash flood while out training with Tawnyripple. Now he spends his time with Clayfeather, planning on going out to look for what remains of his father. Savvyshadow | female | died 57 moons old | confident / great teacher Savvyshadow joined the clan after she was saved from a dog by Snipleap, Cloudlight, and Tawnyripple. She had only just begun to settle into life as a clan cat when she died after being caught off-guard by a starving rogue who was protecting their catch. She has become a wandering spirit, but she does try to keep an eye on Snipleap. Snipleap | male | died 29 moons old | righteous Up until his death on moon 23, Slipleap had a relatively good year. He and Cloudlight helped Tawnyripple with training Deltapaw, and had joined Cloudlight in bringing outsider cats into the clowder by simply keeping watch over the dragonpath. He had been left with a badly hurt leg after a rogue attacked him. While he did recover, this leg failed him when he tried getting a cat out of the way of a dragon--resulting in his death.

housefire au!bloodclan code and punishments
- never leave any cat behind, especially if injured even if they’re a clan cat you must atleast make sure their wounds are tended to
- you should never kill without reason, if the worst happens and a clan cat is dead set on hurting a kit or elder, than it’s debatable (but you’re on fucking thin ice)
- you’re allowed to have relationships with clan cats
- don’t be greedy/steal prey/take more than needed
- no bullying or hurting your colleagues
- you must be at least 3 years (in cat years) old to properly join bloodclan, but they do self defense training for kits and preteens
- former clan cats must go through a trial before joining bloodclan, incase of spying or backstabbing
andd punishments!
spying for the clans: everyone is allowed to beat up said spy for 2 minutes (no killing), spy is than put on a watch list and kicked from the clans
stealing: spend 1 hour in the dumpster
killing: killer is covered in prey and forced to strut the by the badger den for a day, killer is than permanently kicked from bloodclan and is put on a watch list
bullying: whoever is being a bitch gets covered in garbage and must parade themself around the twoleg place until sundown, it is encouraged to laugh at said bitch. after this you are temporally kicked from bloodclan
God these rules and punishments are so fucking good, Frog. Especially with the last one with ex-clan cats being forced to go through a trial before joining, these dudes aren't gonna let random clan cats join them all willy nilly. But also they don't straight up ban relationships with Clan cats, although I'd imagine the social ramifications of it and reactions from some of the cats hurt just as much
Now getting into the punishments: GROUP VIOLENCE SESSION IN T MINUS 5 MINUTES. 2 minutes sounds generous although I'd imagine that the cats are allowed to really just cut loose (with restrictions as you've said). Give them big bruises and massive gashes on their sides for extra measure. The killing punishment is great, it genuinely feels like something that a clowder of cats would come up with it's amazing, wonder if they also draw some blood from the perpetrator to make sure the smell of cat blood makes them stick out. Gotta love the bullying punishment, fuck you get covered in garbage and made to walk the many miles of shame.
The stealing punishment is making me chuckle because all I can think of is this conversation going on:
"Okay you know what- YOU'RE IN TIME OUT! GET INSIDE OF THE DUMPSTER, GET IN THERE!"
"THIS CLAN IS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE" said while climbing into the opening of the dumpster

7. Have you made any edits to the warrior code?
I will be honest, I like most of the revised code. That being said, I looked that up after I checked the original, so most of these are from the first. Not that I’ve changed much (or put much thought into this part at all), but I did go over some.
Challenge all trespassing cats. —> Greet and inquire about their purpose for traveling, escort if accepted.
The word of the clan leader is the warrior code. —> Does anyone like this one. Seriously this is ripe for abuse of power, as shown in The Broken Code. Leaders have a council they speak with when considering especially big or important decisions. They are also not immune to criticism or loss of power or even their position from the clan itself should there be a majority disagreement.
A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet. —> Plenty of housecats and loners have joined the clans, and clan cats have left to become a housecat or wanderer. Sometimes one life just doesn’t work, so one can exchange it for another if that’s what’s best for them. Many even do their best to keep in touch with the friends and family left behind.
An honourable warrior does not need to kill […] unless they are outside the code. —> Now that just doesn’t make any sense either. Don’t kill your opponent(s) unless you have absolutely no other choice, sure, but that should apply to every opponent. Don’t pick and choose.

btw for your rewrites aus ocs etc in the warrior universe you. you don't gotta rename the clans to "colonies" "clowders" etc. i mean you can if you want, but like....the word clan is not appropriative. idk where that came from. the word clan is used to refer to so many different historical groups from like, every country ever. it's not an indigenous thing. it's totally fine to use the word 😭

DotC would have been so much better if the Erins had just written as the cats all together as one from the beginning and shown why the cats actually CARED about staying in a big group and then through out the books showing why the cats would spilt up into four groups and not stay together (size of group grew too big resulting in groups just staying in a particular section of the territory, with their own traditions, cultures, etc all like in the field guide books that the erins wrote and then disregarded forever) ending with the four leaders who founded the clans
There's definitely plenty of routes to go with why they split, i'm quite fond of the idea how canon set up that skill set was what made cats congregate to cats like them. Makes sense!
I very much like the idea that there were little pocket clowders going on in the woods and city. Too bad the writers hate the idea of a non-antagonistic group in the series.

I absolutely love the sisters but I have so many problems with them. I like them as a sorta semi more realistic portrayal of a real clowder, and women with magic is very cool. But the child sacrifice and making the men oppressed is so stupid I hate it.
Any ideas on how to reshape them? Maybe just give the women power I mean more power to them the better lol
Oh I have a very solid idea for how I'm going to rewrite them!! The Sisters and The Guardians are now two sizeable cultures, about the size of a large Clan.
I care immensely about sociology so fixing BloodClan, the Sisters, the Tribe, and the Guardians was one of my most important personal goals!
Origin
The Sisters are a splinter group of the Tribe, like all civilization in the area. This becomes super apparent when you examine the social role of a Tribe "Medic," an individual healer who moves between the three Wards as needed, speaking an additional 'Classic Tribemew' language to communicate with ancestors better.
The Sisters are descended from a group of medics who broke off from the Tribe, in search of knowledge and heroics. It's their mission to help as many lost ghosts as possible and document the world's many offerings.
Child-Rearing and Adoptions
The Sisters adopt abandoned kits readily, and often accept cats seeking a new clowder. Especially ones who seem mistreated or in need of an escape (such as Squirrelflight).
A kit has a primary mother, and it's the Sisters' collective responsibility to rear all of the kittens together. A newcomer cat will also be assigned a 'Mother,' even if they were an adult, who will introduce them to their various rituals.
I would like for the Sisters' powers to be taught, rather than inherited when that's possible.
Though, being born and raised tends to make stronger soothsayers just on account of being submerged in the culture, plus having a closer emotional connection to any Sister cats who have died.
Gender
Since I stick close to canon, I will still keep their strong concept of gender. But it's tweaked.
For one, a male kitten is socialized to wander. It's not suddenly and traumatically dumped on the cat equivalent of a 13-year-old. At 6 moons old, they're encouraged to leave camp to fetch things and begin doing tasks on their own. As they get older, they act as 'satellite' members, following the Sisters as they travel, nesting with them at night, usually taking the other boy kits out in the morning.
By the time they're 2 years old, it's expected that they've found a particular territory or land they'd like to live in. This serves a very important purpose; a male Sister will welcome his family back into his territory, warning them of any changes and helping them survive there before they roam again.
Male Sister homesteads are numerous, many of them founding their own groups, becoming house cats, or even joining established groups like the Tribe or the Guardians.
The Departing
When the boy has finally found it, the Sisters celebrate that their child has finally found their Home Land. They throw a coming-of-age/farewell ceremony, called The Departing (ghost pun ayyyy).
There's a big teary goodbye, a lot of singing, chanting, and eating, and a ritual to summon spirits to assist them in their journey, allowing them to see nearby ghosts without the need of the group's collective soothsaying abilities.
I want to make this ritual the reason why "male-lineage" cats can see ghosts, but I'm still working out how Rootspring got it if it is ritual-based.
I might tie it to some sort of charm or artifact specially made for a Departing male, that Tree has given to his son.
Still working on it.

🪶 GULLCLAN 🪶
Gullclan is founded by Gullstar, an unwilling leader who was thrust into the role after gaining a reputation among cats of the coast for taking in those who were in need. When more clowders began crowding in, the need for some sort of organization was needed, and they settled upon creating "Clans", each named for their leader to separate them from one another.
Gullclan lives in a series of caves around a number of tidepools, most of their hunting being seafowl or the animals who live in the pools. They are good at swimming by default and prefer to keep to themselves rather than tangle with the other groups. However, this doesn't mean they're afraid to defend themselves and the homes that they've built. Gullstar is ready to show anyone who tests his clan exactly what they're made of.
As Gullstar's deputy stands Laureldrop, a careful molly who wants nothing more than the best for her clan.
As the clan's first healer stands Splashfoot, a nervous tom who is still getting used to the weight of his duties. He never thought he'd have such an imporant role in anything, much less a clan, but he's dedicated to keeping Gullclan healthy.
From various walks of life come the other founders of the clan, named Riverlightning, Ivysnap, Tansyspot, Juncodapple, Patridgeholly, Saplingrose, and Rosemarythroat. Together these cats form the foundations of Gullclan, and seek to create a home for not only themselves but also any others who seek a place to call home along the coast.
Tumblr media
Hi! Welcome to the tumblr for Gullclan, where I'll be posting about the life of the clan as it goes on and seeing where the tide takes them. Gullclan is a clan generated by Sablesteel's Clangen! Here I'll be posting play-by-plays of the clan and art as much as I can, mostly as an exercise to get myself drawing daily or at least drawing more frequently. If you're here, thank you for checking things out and considering going on this journey with me! As time goes on, I'll likely add more to this page and update things.
