Me: *reading a post that makes the joke “Peeta dropped the baby bomb, Gale drops bombs on babies”* haha good one
Also me: you’re missing the point! You’re missing the point! YOURE MISSING THE POINT! He grew up starving. His best friend almost died of hunger. Most of his people live in poverty. He watched children die in a bloodbath every year for the capital’s entertainment. The girl he loved went into the games. Was tortured by the capitol. His district was bombed out of existence. Nearly everyone he knew was killed. Their only crime was being fed up of being hungry and oppressed and sharing the same district as Katniss. All those innocent people. Murdered. He had to take refuge in a district that was bombed out of existence and forced to live underground. Of course he joined the war effort. Of course he designed unethical bombs and battle tactics. He wanted revenge. He wanted the capitol to have a taste of their own medicine. He wanted the rebellion to succeed. And tell me you could live through what he did, and that no part of you would be screaming for Justice and vengeance. Gale is you. You are Gale. He represents a part of feelings and actions that reside within us, even if you don’t act on it.
“But he killed prim!” Exactly! Gale loved prim. She was a second family to her. He looked after Katniss’ family. He saved them from the district 12 bombings. He loved her. He never would’ve put her in danger. He never would’ve put in order for a bombing if it would kill Prim. But coin would. And did. She took what was meant to be a tool of Gale’s righteous revenge for all the suffering he and his people suffered through, only for someone in power to take it and use it to kill someone he loved.
There’s some many lessons to take. We can’t control the things we create. War spares no one. Even justifiable rage and actions can end up rebounding and hurting those you love instead of your targets.
“He drops bombs on babies” is too simplistic of a takeaway and does a disservice to the story and Gale.

PAIRING: dark! coriolanus snow x capitol citizen! reader
SUMMARY: coriolanus has always loved you finally after years of paining and planning he finally has you . . .
TW: 18+, obsessive behaviour, smut, baby trapping . . .
Tumblr media
You were an only child, a sole heiress to one of the oldest, and most affluent families in the capitol.
Given the position, it had always been expected you would find a husband of equal, if not higher standing. much to the delight of your parents, you'd found one; more specifically, he, the newly appointed president of Panem, had proposed to you .
It was during new years . . .
Over the years, your family had made a habit of hosting a large banquet to celebrate the holidays. Everyone received invitations, from academy faculty to business tycoons.
Of course, President Snow had been there too, talking to your father, clad in a black suit, his lips curled into the fakest smile you'd ever seen . . .
You could feel his cold, icy eyes following your every move throughout the evening, sending a shiver down your spine, as if at any moment a beast would pounce on you.
Any other time you could have feigned some sort of sickness and retired back to your room, but this was a special night, and as such, keeping public appearances and mingling with guests was a necessity, so you did what you always did: put on a fake smile and braved through.
Then something unexpected happened.
He proposed.
The fucking bastard proposed to you.
Just as the clock struck twelve, Coriolanus Snow got down on his knees in front of you, surrounded by the hundreds of guests, and he uttered the two cursed words.
“Marry me.”
Your cheeks felt hot, no doubt to onlookers; it seemed as if you were perhaps flattered. Who wouldn't be in the face of a man like Coriolanus Snow asking them to marry him?
No, you weren't flattered you were angry . . .
He'd cornered you he knew you couldn't reject him, not in front of all there people, not in front of your parents.
“Yes.”
Few moments passed before the three letter word came out of you, and your new fiance slipped the ring on to your fingers, it was pretty you would've admired it if not for who it was from.
There was no joy in your heart a strange feeling of numbness settling in when people cheered and came to congratulate you.
“Cheers! To the president and his lovely bride-to-be!”
“My my what fabulous pair!”
“Your children will be absolutely adorable!”
Their comments didn't help; no doubt, if not for the smirking Coriolanus holding you close to himself, your legs would've given out, leaving you a crumpling mess on the floor.
In contrast to your gloom, Coriolanus felt zealous; his smile for the first time in forever became genuine, softer even.
It was no secret. He had always fancied you from afar, ever since he saw you dancing at a gathering for the upper-class society of Panem.
You were beautiful—a purebred, a rose in full bloom.
No one deserved you—not the lowlife with his hand around your waist guiding your movements with the music, not the scum suitors your father planned to introduce you to—no one could have you except Coriolanus Snow.
He swore he'd restore his family name, swore he'd become the president, and then make you his wife.
Now, he finally, finally, had you.
It was worth it, every single drop of blood he'd spilled, to get to this point was worth it.
He knew you hated him, saw the fear in your eyes when he sought you out after his rise to power.
You had rejected him then, knowing full well that under all of his charming smiles there was something dark and twisted. It was true. Coriolanus was a monster, a monster with no intention of giving up. You would become Mrs. Snow, even if he had to force it on you.
What better way than a public display of affection . . .
His plan was a success; even if you weren't happy, Coriolanus was convinced that with time, he'd win you over. You couldn't hate him forever, not when he'd be your husband and the father of your children.
Your fiancé was a charismatic man, no doubt; he'd easily charmed your family. So much so that neither of your parents noticed your strained smile and reluctance when faced with your intended.
No one did, not your father, who'd been thrilled; he would be the president's father-in-law, which came with privileges, while your mother boasted endlessly to her friends of how you'd effortlessly captured the heart of President Snow.
Trapped, you were absolutely fucking trapped.
~~~~
The wedding was planned to be a grand affair, not that you'd cared much what flower arrangements the venue had or if they used silver or gold plates; it was all the same to you.
“Nothing but the best for my bride.”
Coriolanus, or Coryo as he insisted you call him, had told the wedding planners you never thought he'd be so invested in the wedding details, but he was, specifically in your dress. He had you try on at least fifty pieces before picking one.
“Can't wait to rip it off you,” he whispered into your ear, right before the staff guided you to the changing room.
After that, you avoided him at all costs.
Until your wedding day.
~~~~
You cried during the ceremony.
Reporters titled it as “tears of joy” and “happy bride.” If only they'd known . . .
“You may now kiss your bride”
You froze when Coriolanus's pulled up your veil, tear-stained eyes, meeting his blue one.
Then his lips met yours. It wasn't soft or sweet; it was hungry and possessive, like he wanted to show everyone how he owned you, and he did your fiance-no, your husband would never let you leave him, never.
~~~~
Coriolanus Snow was a man of his word.
He did, in fact, rip your dress off. The sound of tiny pearl buttons hitting the marble floor made you flinch, gasping softly as the cold air surrounded you.
Not giving you a chance to flee, he kissed you again, his hands wandered around your bare body.
Your husband had been insatiable during that night, not giving you a moment of rest as he made you take his cock over and over again, whispering sweet nothings and praises into your ears.
“You're so fucking tight, my good girl,” his hands gripped at your hips as he pushed himself into you, ignoring whatever tears or silent pleas you'd whimper out. “Who knew you'd be such a whore for my cock...” his face buried in the crook of your neck, leaving bites and marks.
At this rate, you'd have to wear a scarf tomorrow.
“Coryo- slow d-” His brutal pace doesn't stop, not even when your nails dig into his flesh, drawing blood that only seemed to spur him on.
“Gonna fuck you full of me until it takes...”
That makes you cry harder. “Nooo, Cory pull-out...” it was one thing to marry him, but children? you weren't ready... but he doesn't stop, not until he's cum as many times as possible deep inside your weeping pussy.
“It's necessary,” he tells you the morning after, when you're lying in bed, limbs tangled together, as he rubs circles on your naked back.
You stay silent, knowing what he meant. Coryo wanted you to get pregnant, not just out of love and desire to have an heir, someone of his blood, to carry the Snow name; his true purpose was to eliminate any room for escape you might have.
A child, a child, meant you'd forever be bound to him.
~~~
When you found out about your pregnancy, you secretly hoped it'd be a means to dim Coryo's interest in you.
“Husbands tend to cheat when their wives are pregnant ,” one of the ladies told you during a gathering. She'd meant it as a friendly warning to keep an eye on your husband and keep him interested.
But as it turned out, Coryo wasn't like other Capitol husbands. If anything, your pregnancy had made him more feral, constantly finding ways to bend you over any surface in your home, telling you how good you looked swollen with his baby.
“My pretty wife -fuck, so damn adorable with that little bump of yours - all mine—fuck, I did that”
It wouldn't end. Even after your daughter was born, Coryo told you he wanted more.
“She wants a sibling, don't you, Adeline?” he'd smirk, watching your face go pale, holding your daughter in his arms as she blabbered something and giggled, unaware of her father's plans or your unwillingness to indulge him.
Try as you might, your husband will always get his way, a fact that never changed over the years.
After all, everyone knows, “Snow lands on top.”

Readers be like, Peeta is too good, too perfect when you read the books, it’s annoying!
But, guys, he is not! Not at all! It’s just we read what Katniss thinks and she is head over heels in love with him. He saved her life when she was 11, she always saw him like he was perfect, because he was perfect for her! She describes him like he is the most righteous man in the galaxy, because he is for her, we read her story.
But if you look at Peeta, at everything he was doing, he is one manipulative son of a bitch.
He manipulated the crowd into seeing Katniss as someone desirable, he lied a lot to get sponsors for her. He knew she had something going on with Gale (although she didn’t have anything yet, but he thought she did) and still flirted his way into her heart.
One thing certain, he did love Katniss unconditionally. He would do anything for her. And that’s why she only sees how perfect her boy with a bread is, because he is perfect for her.
And come on, we all would sell our souls to have a partner as devoted as Peeta.

“You’ve no right to starve people, to punish them for no reason. No right to take away their life and freedom. Those are things everyone is born with, and they’re not yours for the taking. Winning a war doesn’t give you that right. Having more weapons doesn’t give you that right. Being from the Capitol doesn’t give you that right. Nothing does.” ― Suzanne Collins, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Don't Blame Me (Coriolanus Snow x Reader)
A/N: I have yet to see ABAOSAS so simply this is for the vibes, major plot changes from the book/ movie so dont mind that, simply I saw a hot morally grey man and decided I can fix him so this is for all the girlies with a toolbelt ;)
His eyes had been glued to the screen for what felt like hours. The little specs of graininess following his vision everytime he blinked. Coriolanus Snow did not falter for anyone-- that was until he met you. Something about your blind optimism reminded him of a child, and god how he hated children, but somehow on you it was like a drug he couldn’t get enough of. It made something warm start in his chest, and little fires erupt in every nerve. It was nothing like he had ever felt before, he hated it, and yet he couldn’t get enough. And now he was going to watch the only thing that made him feel that way slip between his fingers like nothing more than a single snowflake. At some point the snow had to melt and here he was watching it live.
He kept replaying that last conversation over and over. “I’m going to survive, there is no if,” he remembered how you brushed your fingers across his cheek through the rusty bars of the zoo. If he closed his eyes and thought about it hard enough he could feel the warmth of your fingers against his face again. He refused to remember the single tear and question that had prompted that response. This could not be a one time thing. He just got you and there was no letting you go now. Love is a drug and he was nothing but an addict.
Coryo was jolted to reality when he noticed another tribute sneaking up behind you. He couldn’t remember his name. There was no point, the only one that mattered was the victor and that was you. It had to be you.
Staring into the depths of your form he begged you to wake. The bile was already crawling up his throat burning a trail in its wake. Stomach clenched he closed his eyes as he heard what could only be described as a battle cry leave the murderer’s mouth.
Three seconds. He was allowing himself three seconds of grief before he had to move on. To survive. Snow falls on top and he faltered for you but now it was over and he had to go on.
That was until he opened his eyes to your form. You were standing over the tribute, eyes wide as the saucers that Grandma’am used to take tea in. A bloody knife dripped blood down your pale dress leaving you in a haunting shade of wet red down your right side. He didn’t remember you having that, deciding you must have fought the tribute for it, you always were good at getting what you wanted, especially from him. You took his every waking thought like it was nothing so what was a knife?
“I killed him. He’s dead. I killed him..” Coryo could do nothing but watch as you spiraled within the tunnel. He wanted nothing more than to hold you and tell you that this was nothing more than a bad dream. Though part of him knew that in a way the person who brushed his cheek was gone.
He quickly fixed the look of concern dawning his face, remembering how you had told him once that his “human was showing.” That single thought gracing the smallest of smiles on his lips.
In a twisted way seeing you covered in a thick sheet of red brought him comfort. A small part of him knew that was wrong. Knew that his comfort came at the cost of a human life. But none of them deserved to live as much as you did. Now he knew you could do it, knew you had what it took to win, with the added bonus of having a weapon. He had not felt so much joy since hearing of the opportunity to go to University. You were the key to his new life, and it started now.
He remembered thinking you were weak when he offered you the posion and you declined citing that “cheaters never win.” Coriolanus felt the entire essence of his personality crumble when those words left your perfectly pink lips. It set something inside of him aflame. You made him almost want to be a good person, almost, because if anything happened to you he would do whatever it took no matter the cost. He was ready to put his own future at risk for the assurance of knowing that you would live to see tomorrow's sunrise. Because you deserved a tomorrow more than he ever did.
The games were coming to a close. Only a few tributes left and he watched intently as you moved around the arena. Even caked in blood, dirt, and who knows what else, he had never seen a figure more beautiful.
He couldn’t help but allow himself to think of you adorned in the luxuries of the capitol. An egregious dress adorning your shoulders and your hair in some unnatural twist. Somehow it never looked as good as you did right now. Raw and natural, locks framing your face in small clumps. You were going to get out of this and he was going to get you out of those crummy districts. You deserved more than any of those pathetic traitors, and he was going to get you that. One way or another.

Something I that makes me roll my eyes is that even if she never realizes it, Gaul’s “humanity will always be violent and awful” take is founded on such biased conclusions. SHE wants to believe that’s true, but for a scientist, she’s not looking at it scientifically at all.
“You get in the Hunger Games and you all revert to being violent and animalistic!” Well, yeah, but only cause the Capital pushes so many buttons to MAKE the kids so.
You’re told if you win, you get a house and you’ll never have to worry about money again. If you’re poor, that’s huge. Never having to see your parents starve themselves so you and your siblings can eat, getting to move into a house where everyone gets their OWN bed, being able to buy that expensive medicine for your friend who’s been sick for months. That’s a big incentive.
If money doesn’t sway you, what about fame? I’ll bet in the wealthier districts the games were marketed as “Want to prove you’re the fastest, smartest, strongest person to the whole country? Join the games!” Drill that into a kid’s head from birth on up, of course they’ll think the games are going to be something to work toward.
If money and fame don’t work, paranoia will do it. There are 23 other people out there, and they’ve got weapons, and they know they have to kill you to leave the arena. Even if all 24 players made a pact to not harm one another, it could still descend into violence because YOU were going to stick to the pact, but you saw that one guy eyeing a sword, and just knew he was going to go for it, so you decided to grab it first.
And if all that doesn’t sway you - the Capital will kill you anyway. If everyone just sits there and refuses to play, the Capital will generate a tornado or a hurricane or mutts or some other horrible disaster.
You throw a bunch of preteens/teens, whose brains are still developing and who have less life experience than adults, into an arena with the knowledge that no matter what they do, they are dead unless they’re the last one left standing, of course you’re going to get violence. It’s the only option you’ve left them.
But yeah, the whole “We’ll always choose violence!” thing? No, not everyone will. But in the cases where violence IS chosen, it’s in large part due to people like Gaul.
