Okay okay, so. I had... I had a thought. So Lyney and Lynette are twins yeah? Lynette is a hybrid and Lyney isn't. But what if he kinda is? Maybe he doesn't have the striking features like the ears and tail but what if he has the reflexes and agility of a cat? Would help with his magic show! Also gives me an excuse to draw him purring><
Now imagine Lyney with reader all wrapped up in cozy blankets on a rainy day>< You're carding your fingers through his fluffy hair and he is tired because he just got done with a big show('□`) You're reading the latest novel in your favourite book series when you start to feel your chest lightly vibrate as a purring sound pierces the air. Yeah Lyney just became your personal engine you're welcome<3333 Make sure to pepper his face with kisses when he wakes up! A hard worker like him deserves rewards ;>

terms & conditions — ANGEL REYES x OC/READER x CANE TEJADA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N; I'm actually glad that this sat in my drafts waiting to be written (thanks to the poll I put out!) just in time for the season premiere-which isn't being talked too much about as of yet-but I get it! So I gained some more inspo for this piece along with the sudden crush I’ve developed on Woody’s character from power book II—ghost (which I’m also currently watching!) + this song has also been on repeat since I first heard it. It’s fitting and inspired this so let’s get into it!
*GIF BELONGS TO THEIR RIGHTFUL OWNER!*
WARNINGS/DISCLAIMER: language + I am in no way shape or form a therapist! + Angel being a bit of a d!ck :)

"Solay it's great to meet you, thank you for coming." The therapist greeted the mahogany haired woman at the door, lightly shaking her hand.
Solay smiled at the bob-wearing lady, shifting her tote bag, which looked expensive, down to her wrist as she fully entered the sunlit room. Her doe eyes briefly glanced at Angel who now sat with his arms crossed in a chair, a scowl written on his face as his eyes almost drank her in.
"Angel." Solay muttered, placing her bag to the side of her as she took the space in the middle of the empty red couch.
Angel ran his tongue over his front teeth, huffing but felt the therapist sending him a warning glance. Almost as if to say, 'We talked about this.'
He breathed, rolling his head back to face Solay who was now putting her phone on vibrate before tossing it back into her bag, "What's going on, Solay?"
"It's Wednesday so I’m pretty busy," she was vague with her words but attempting to be cordial as she added, "How's Mavy?"
"Growing everyday," Angel answered and couldn't help but to throw in, "How's your rebound doin'? Don't think I didn't see him drop you off in that flashy ass range rover, was my son with ‘em in the backseat?"
Solay's doe eyes immediately went into slits as she let out a breath of laughter. She was barely five minutes in the room with her ex-husband and here he was worrying about who she was involved with by attempting to fuck up her energy. He should be lucky that she even showed her face! She vowed at this first session that she would not allow Angel to continue disrespecting her like he loved to do. The only reason she was here was for their five year old son Xavier, to learn better co-parenting methods...and perhaps for a professional to see that she wasn't crazy for putting up boundaries after everything they've been through.
"Okay, let's reel it in." Dr. Michelle Othman rolled her hands, gaining the attention of the two adults in front of her.
The glare did not leave Angel's face as he dragged his eyes back to the short haired woman who sat at her desk.
"Let's discuss that tension," Dr. Michelle started, "As soon as you entered the room, Solay, you were very curt with your words on greeting Angel, why is that?”
Solay inhaled, "It's never hugs and kisses when we're in each other's space. Sure I would like for it be that way—it's like that with my parents who are divorced, they're friendly but I started off just fine until Angel had to go into attack mode."
Angel felt his pressure beginning to rise since Solay liked to commonly relate her parents to their situation…when clearly this was a very different relationship.
"I didn't attack you, I simply asked if you're leaving my son alone with some strange man." Angel stated, "And I have concerns about that, as a father, it's my right."
"Of course you do but you didn't seem to be too worried when you had our son around during your secret meet-ups with Adelita, hm?" Solay pointed out, strangely calm.
Yet it still felt tit for tat.
"We were seperated when Luisa and I started messing around."
As if that makes it alright!
"Not legally and still very much married. Just for you to sleep with her and a couple of days later we're back together like nothing even happened...like I wouldn't find out." Solay told.
Angel scratched at his brow at that, he knew how it sounded but couldn't say much to defend that. He wasn't sure if he could so he just looked away at Dr. Michelle, who was patient and watchful.
"Angel tells me you two were married for some time."
Solay uttered, “Seven years."
"What made you want to get married?"
"I thought I found my person. We were good together, fun together, friends even.” Solay seemed to be in a daze as she talked, “ I always belived that you have to have a friendship as a foundation before anything and although we were completely messy from the start, meaning intimate before we ever became friends—we were always backwards in everything we did—but I enjoyed being around him. I enjoyed being happy with him, laughing with him. Angel made my heart happy at that time and I always knew he wanted a family and I started picturing what that would be like and feel like with him. then i got the chance to realize…I was happier without him." Solay informed the therapist who hummed at this information.
Angel spoke up, "I wasn't sure i even wanted to be married and not because of Solay. She's a great woman no doubt but I always had doubts of not being good enough to be anybody's husband or father. I was scared shitless but Solay always had a way of uplifting me and making me believe we could do anything we wanted together. That also quickly turned into being blamed for the littlest things and I'm not talking about the cheating. I’ll take responsibility for that part.”
Solay nodded, "Yeah he's right. After the first time Angel cheated on me with some blonde bartender, I became iritated by everything he did and constanly being in his space knowing what he had done, wasn't good for me, i knew i had to leave so I could breathe again. I left to my own condo that I was still living in and considered not renewing the lease. Then I found out I was pregnant and that completely changed everything."
Dr. Michelle nodded at all of this, occasionally writing something down on her notepad. "There's so much to unpack here. Could it be that the both of you had these false ideas of what marriage was supposed to look like because of your upbringing? I'm already aware of the infidelity that was in Angel's parents’ marriage but what was your parents' marriage like Solay, if you don't mind me asking?"
Solay sighed, "They tried to never argue in front of my older sister and I but that didn't mean we couldn't hear it at night when they thought we went to bed. My dad was a borderline alcoholic and always stressed about finances but he did a good job at hiding his worries, yet that didn't mean he didn't take it out on my mom. He can get very loud and apparently verbally abusive when he drank towards my mom. What they showed from the beginning seemed like perserverance …when it was really settling. I knew they were happier when they were younger but they ended up getting a divorce when I was in my early twenties."
"Was it a difficult divorce?"
"Surprisingly no? They seemed thrilled to be doing it because they came to a clear understanding of what they needed from each other.”
"Is that what you want from Angel?"
"One hundred percent but I'm not sure when or if we're gonna get there. There's mountains of pain and anger between us both but I want to get somewhere for the sake of our son." Solay tells Angel's therapist.
The woman quirks up a smile, "that's what I'm here for, for guidance but I want you to also acknowledge that you have to want this for yourself as well and not just your son."
"I don't want to do what my parents did, although it almost seems inevitable when life is a cycle right? I don't want to hide the reality of why his parents aren't getting along and can't co-exist because I don't know what that's doing to him mentally. Sure he's only five but I want us to have a healthy and honest mindset so we can raise him as such."
"Angel do you hear what Solay is saying?"
"Yeah, she's not the only one who doesn't want to fuck up their kid." Angel rubbed at his beard in thought.
Dr. Michelle said, "Then we all need to work on the both of you first so you can both do your best in raising Xavier better. Are you two commited in doing so?"
Commitment was almost taboo for Angel Reyes so Solay wasn’t so sure, it was shocking for her to even be aware that Angel decided to seek out therapy in the first place! Yet they were both here, which is the first step, allegedly.
"You're Angel's therapist, so how long do you predict I need to be in his sessions?"
DR. Michelle analyzed Solay for a brief moment before saying, "Believe it or not, you left a big impact on Angel's life as a husband and father so I can not simply provide you with a timeline. This takes work."
"I receive that, I'm not afraid of doing the work." Solay affirms, "I just wanted an estimate on how long this will last until it doesn't matter anymore."
"What do you mean by that?" Angel asked, brows furrowing.
Solay clasped her hands into her lap, slightly raising them as she talked, "I don't know. It's like you're trying to show a new and improved side of you but I still know the bad parts."
"Because you like pointing the finger and always putting the blame on me! Like you can’t accept that I’m happy!”
"Angel," Dr. Michelle warned at the raised volume in his voice, "Solay, Angel tells me the both of you recently got into a disagreement a week ago. Could this be what you're referring to?"
"I guess so yeah," Solay raised her shoulders and stared down at her hands for a moment, "It's just funny or probably pick me of me to think I gave Angel what he dreamed of, having a family and a home but the moment another woman caught his eye...the minute he found out that Mavy was still alive and Adelita was back in town, his perspective completely changed. What made that family different from I gave?"
"What?" Angel exasperated leaning his elbows into his knees now, "there's no comparison between what I have with you and Xavier and Luisa and Maverick."
"You may not think so but that's how it feels."
"Why do you feel that way?" Dr. Michelle pushed.
Solay swallowed the thickness in her throat, "that argument that happened a week ago. I asked Angel if he can take Xavier for me while I underwent a procedure. My mom was in town and would be tending to me so I thought it would be best. Angel came to pick him up Thursday evening, I went to my procedure that Friday morning and Angel brought Xavier back that same night because he, Luisa, and Mavy were going to some carnival for the weekend.”
Solay was in and out of sleep the whole day in her bedroom and her mother tried her hardest to keep her out of it but she soon learned what Angel had done. To say she was livid would be a understatement but thankfully she had her mom there to calm her down and help out, who did the honors of giving Angel a piece of her mind before she slammed the door in his face.
“What was this procedure?”
“I honestly thought it was a boob-job,” Angel interrupts before Solay could say a thing, which made both women cut their eyes at him, “I mean I wouldn’t be mad at you for it.”
Solay shook her head in aggravation while the therapist kept her face stoic.
“Why are you so comfortable speaking on a body that isn’t yours?” Solay questioned.
‘It used to be,’ Angel thought but knew not to let that slip through his lips.
Angel raised his hands from his spot on the chair, “I’m not! I never said you needed that shit anyways, I loved your itty bitties—
“Angel, enough.” Dr. Michelle scolded, “Let Solay finish. I told you at the start of inviting Solay here is for us to see her perspective and get to know her a bit so that we can come to a common ground in your relationship. Now Solay, please continue.”
Angel tried not to roll his eyes. This was his therapist after all and sure he knew what this session was about since it took courage to ask Solay to be here and felt like forever for her to agree. It was all about listening and shit but he didn’t like the picture that was being painted.
Solay sighed with her eyes closed, “I went for a biopsy on my ovaries. So no it wasn’t a boob job or some spa day or walk in the park like you thought, Angel. It was serious and again, Xavy and I got pushed to the side: Second fiddle.”
Sometimes she wondered if it had to do with Xavier being hearing impaired. Did Angel not want to be bothered enough to include their child on his new family outings? She thought about bringing it up but she also knew it wasn’t right to think that when Angel did take up the time learning sign language (in his own way) to communicate with their child. Everyone on his side of the family did and although it was a little shaky for him more so than Solay, he did try… however it didn’t erase the fact that Xavier seemed to be excluded majority of the time.
So she kept it to herself.
Dr. Michelle allowed the weight of silence to be felt. She motioned for the tissues on the coffee table for Solay—if needed but the woman just hugged herself, making the therapist lightly scribble down some more notes at this.
Angel was full on frowning now, “Biopsy…ain’t that for diagnosing something?”
“Cancer, Angel. They were worried after finding a lump in my abdomen and some other symptoms I was experiencing. I just needed you to come through for me, just this once.” Solay exhaled, eyes on him.
Angel felt the color drain from his face. The rings on his fingers were pressed to his lips as he felt his knee start to bounce, “why didn’t you say something?”
“You mean to tell me you forgot in the next twenty-four hours that I was having something done?”
“I’m a dumbass sometimes! I seriously thought it was something minor and really didn’t think or even remember, honestly querida—Solay it fucken slipped my mind.”
“Do you believe his words, Solay?”
She shrugged her shoulders, “it’s possible. He forgot his own brother’s birthday.”
“Hey, we’re not talking about Ezekiel here.” Angel growled while Solay rolled her eyes, “…are you alright, soso?”
Hearing Angel use another nickname on her, made her skin crawl. Once upon a time, she thought it was cute and it actually gave her butterflies when Angel would say it, his rough callous hands cupping her face. Now? She just wanted him to shut up.
“Now you care?” Solay hissed, “all you had to do was include Xavy in on your quality time with his baby brother, that’s it. Do that one thing for me, for him. But nothing else matters and that’s why I’m so pissed.”
“Aye, don’t take this shit out on Mav.”
“I would never. I always engage with that sweet baby when he’s in my presence. That’s Xavy’s baby brother and I’m not that kind of woman. I would never take my frustrations with you out on your kid. Ever.” Solay’s heated doe eyes met Angel’s and he had to sit back in the chair, dejected.
Angel said, “I’m sorry. Forreal. I do wish you would of told me exactly what was going on with you though.”
“Would it have made a difference?”
“I’m sure it would, yeah.” Angel stared, which Solay held.
That felt definite.
Dr. Michelle looked up from her notes, “this is good you two. You’re both laying it out on the table, engaging and truly seeing what it is that you brought you two here. it’s leading us to the root of the problem.”
“Talk to us, doc. What do you think it is?” Angel dragged his eyes away from Solay, keeping his leg bouncing.
“From our conversations Angel, you hold a lot of insecurities and it stems from your own childhood trauma that you haven’t healed from. It’s bled into your marriage and you, Solay. Your defense mechanism is to shut down when situations are tough, putting your guard up instead of saying exactly what it is that’s troubling you.”
“Yes because I’m tired—so tired of reading the same pages of this story over and over with Angel.” Solay sniffed, “I’m not here to say he’s a bad person. I know he’s not. He’s just not a good partner for me. He’s got a strong heart and I know he loved me at some point in our relationship and he cares for our son sure, but I can’t help but to look at him sometimes and feel like I’m dealing with the damn devil.”
Angel furrowed his brows as he points at his own chest, “I’m the devil? I know you don’t believe that when you don’t even know what you’re getting yourself involved in with that dude who just dropped you off.”
“Oh, not this again.” Solay exhaled rubbing underneath her eyes, “I did not come here for you to worry about who I’m spending time with.”
“She acts like she’s so much better than me, when she’s dealing with someone just as shitty and she’s acting like fucking Stevie wonder with it.” Angel gritted.
“Are you also in a new relationship, Solay?”
“Yes. It just became serious.”
“Have Angel and this person met?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Why?”
“We’d probably kill each other.” Angel declared, feeling his fists lock together at the mere thought of Solay with somebody else.
Somebody better but he was positive Cane wasn’t.
Solay shrugged her shoulders, realizing this was true. Cane knew about Angel and the failure of their marriage and honestly he had words for Angel the day they ever came face to face. He got close but Solay always made sure to detour the man away from causing any chaos. It was amusing to Cane however because one day he was sure he was gonna say whatever came to mind when he set his eyes on Angel.
Solay just wanted a simple soft life, was that too much to ask for?
“Okay,” Dr. Michelle said, “So we have the both of you in relationships, Angel you with the same woman you had relations and child with. Solay’s also in a relationship that you don’t particularly like or trust, Angel. You both share a child together but your regressions towards each other make it hard to be within the same space. Is that correct?”
Solay blinked, “that about narrows it down.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Angel rolled his head around, trying to straighten up the tension in his body.
Dr. Michelle cleared her throat, “seems like we have quite the work cut out for us on resolving these issues between you two. We’re down to ten minutes left on the clock, so I want to give you some homework to take with you so that you’re prepared when I see you both next week.”
“Homework?” Angel exhaled, “I didn’t go off to college for this exact reason, Doc.”
“Well think of this as a introductory course,” Dr. Michelle declared, “you’re welcome.”
Solay snickered at the expression on Angel’s face who was reaching for a post it note on the edge of Dr. Michelle’s desk. The therapist was scribbling some last minute notes as Angel managed to grab the paper, ball it up and toss it in Solay’s direction.
Which resulted in double middle fingers from the woman who managed to dodge it just in time. Angel scoffed and stuck out his tongue until Dr. Michelle cleared her throat.
“Are you two quite finished?”
Solay flicked one of her ponytails behind her shoulder and sent a sweet smile at the woman who stared hard at the pair.
“It’s a simple exercise. Both of you are going to write seven things that impacted your relationship from beginning, middle, to end. You can also form it into a Venn diagram or a pros and cons list, then we’ll discuss it next week. Sound good?” Dr. Michelle asks.
Solay has her phone now, her fingers tapping away at her screen as she sets a reminder for herself to do this before next Wednesday. She suddenly looks up at Angel who has his arms resting on the arm rests, twiddling his thumbs.
“Do I have to text you a reminder?”
“Would you be so kind?” Angel was sarcastic, “I’ll remember. If I can show up to see Dr. Michelle’s beautiful atmosphere, I can remember to do some homework.”
Solay replied in a sing song tone, straight but lightly shaded eyebrows raising, “okay…”
“You don’t believe me?”
“If you do the work, I’ll do the work. Otherwise this’ll be for nothing.” Solay answers, meeting Angel’s much darker eyes before turning back to the therapist, “thank you for your time, Dr. Michelle.”
“Thank you for showing up Solay, that’s time.” Dr. Michelle stood from her desk, walking around to lead the two out.
Solay stood in the lobby, messing around with her phone while Angel shared a hushed conversation with Dr. Michelle—hoping to get some sort of reflection or opinion on his ex-wife. It was a little selfish for Angel to want Dr. Michelle to strictly be on his side but he’d be lying if said he didn’t wish for his therapist to provide him with that comfort.
However Dr. Michelle liked to be theoretical and shit so Angel knew he shouldn’t be surprised.
“We’ll get somewhere, Angel. Now that she’s here, we can get this chapter closed and then focus on the next stage, yes?” Dr. Michelle explained while Angel slowly nodded, taking her word for it.
Soon he bid his goodbyes to the British woman before he fished his pockets for a cigarette. Just to mess around with as he approached Solay, he promised that he would actually quit smoking this time around and so far he’s been on track.
“You waiting for your boyfriend, who probably can’t see over the curb to pick you up?” Angel spoke from behind Solay.
She huffed, glancing over her shoulder, “actually no, I’m waiting on my assistant to get me and bring me back to work—if it’s any of your business.”
“Course it is, you’re still the mother of my child.” Angel snorted, “tell her don’t bother, I’ll take you back.”
“On your death trap? I think not.”
“Traffic gets bad around this time out here…the bike it much faster than whatever your assistant is coming to get you in, so it’s up to you.” Angel tapped the cigarette on the glass window of the door.
Solay thought about it, staring hard at Angel who offered her a goofy smile before pushing the door open, walked through and held it open waiting for the woman to follow after. Sighing, she pressed her phone to her ear to let her employee know that she found her way and that she’ll see her soon.
“No funny shit, Angel. Take me straight to work.”
“What? You don’t wanna stop and have lunch first?”
“Not after that session and especially not with you.” Solay answered as Angel yanked up the helmet that rested on his bike.
Angel did the honors of slipping the helmet down on her head, surely messing up her ponytails as he secured it and knocked his knuckles against the top, “damn, that hurts.”
“Terms and conditions.” Solay pointed, making Angel shake his head as he climbed on the bike first.
Solay followed shortly after, resting her hands on Angel’s shoulders to steady herself. As he kicked the engine on, solay almost flinched, knowing that she had to wrap her hands around Angel’s waist instead.
“Does what’s his face have these terms and conditions that you speak of, too?”
“Yup, he has you to thank for that.”
Angel let out a exaggerated sigh, choosing not to say anything else on that as he peddled the bike backwards before steering into a turn, then he set off into the desert streets with Solay still having a hold on him.
What would have been a hour ride was turned into a thirty-five minute one as the tatted man was parked in front of Solay’s business while she let her hair run free now by using Angel’s side mirror, then handed the helmet back to said man.
“Thanks for the ride.”
“Anytime, soso.” Angel glanced at the building seeing a few clients inside of the orange sickle colored building, “spot looks cool as fuck, I’m proud of you, you know?”
Solay had a bachelor’s degree in science, finding her field in dermatology and held her license as a esthetician. She also sold a successful skincare line that she launched on her own website just last year. And this year she purchased her first house all on her own. She was doing well for herself but remained humble about it all.
“Okay, Angel.” Solay sighed, holding her bag down in front of her as she stared out at the orange skies, “we don’t have to kiss each other asses.”
Anfel shrugged, “It’s better than chewing each other out though right? Especially after today and I mean it so what’s the harm in that?”
“…well I appreciate it.”
“See, I can play nice sometimes too huh?” Angel winked as he put his helmet on, “I’ll let you get too it then…remind me, am I picking Xavier up from school on Friday or?”
‘Are you having him for the weekend since it is technically your weekend thanks to me screwing it up last time.’ Angel thought to himself.
“Papa Felipe is so it’s easier for you to bring him to yours.”
Angel was thankful that Solay wants Xavier to actually spend Friday and Saturday night with him after what he pulled last weekend. However he probably knew his pops would give him a hard time and would probably want to keep the boy to himself for the weekend. Solay’s mom and Felipe often chatted; with Felipe telling Angel that his mother, Marisol, probably would have loved Solay’s mom.
“Cool,” Angel said, “I’ll see you on Sunday then.”
“Sunday it is.”
He dipped his head, starting the engine and she watched the man drive off into the sunset before making her way inside.
[Sometime Saturday night…]
Cane Tejada entered the one level stucco home, hands rubbing in excitement as he entered the front of the home. To his surprise, he didn’t find Solay in the kitchen whipping it up and went through the house in search of her.
He found her in the main bedroom with the attached bathroom, touching up her makeup as her hips swayed to a Ayra Starr song. Leaning against the door, he let out a low whistle as his eyes scanned over her curves in the lace corset midi-dress.
“Tonight is my lucky night after all,” Cane bit down on his bottom lip.
Solay stopped leaning over the counter, molding her lipstick covered lips together and blinked her eyes as she glanced over her shoulder at the brown-skinned man, “you’re not coming out with me.”
“Huh?”
Solay brushed by Cane, her light floral and hint of a hazelnut scent hitting his nostrils as she walked by. He followed the woman into her bedroom, eyeing her as she sat on the edge of the bed, one leg crossed over the other.
“Where you going, So?”
She smiled up at him as she slipped on a heel, her anklet bracelet glistening in the room, “Out. Without you.”
“Nah, I’m not feeling that. Not with the way that dress is fitting and the way that ass is—
Solay inserted, “not my problem.” She got to her feet in search of her clutch, “matter of fact, why don’t you reach out to what was her name? Effie. And see if she wants to entertain you for the night.”
She tapped his jaw before turning off the light, making Cane slightly curse to himself. He jogged after the long haired woman, reaching out to grip her waist to turn her to him.
Solay held mock sympathy on her face and Cane didn’t like it one bit, “you going through my shit?”
“You left your laptop here and it was going haywire…something about tuition. I didn’t care to read it all,” she lifted her shoulders careless, “so…you should consider looking for the next flight home to New York soon.”
“It ain’t even like that.” Cane started, “it was just business, nothing more.”
Solay shushed him, “I don’t wanna hear about it. I’m not even stressing it babe, it’s fine.”
Cane scrunched up his nose, “but it’s not because you’re dismissing my ass like I ain’t shit—like we ain’t build this together.”
“What even is this?”
Cane was confused, “a relationship? We been locked in for awhile now so why you trying to switch up on me?”
“You’re the one out here dropping stacks on some girl’s tuition.”
“I ain’t fuck her if that’s what you’re getting at.” Cane was blunt with it, “I’m here for and with you. I’m not some disloyal cheating ass bitch, like your ghost rider baby father. Let’s get that straight.”
Solay sighed, staring down at the new set on her hand.
Cane gripped Solay’s chin, making her eyes meet his, “I’m not him, So. I’m not gonna do you dirty, I’m only about you.”
And solay held his stare not entirely believing it. She’s been down this road before and it was wrong for her to enter relationships—serious relationships and always compare them to Angel. He hurt her bad time after time and she’ll be a cold hearted bitch if that meant she gets to protect her heart better.
She’ll get rid of anybody that plays with her, just like that.
Cane included.
“Words are just words, Cane. You have to show me.”
Cane gripped onto her waist, holding tighter but still kept some distance just in case she felt like she wanted to throw hands, “I gotchu. I’m yours.”
“You already violated one of the terms and conditions and you have maybe two more left, so think wisely next time.” Solay warned, resting one hand on Cane’s shoulder.
Cane was swift with pulling out his phone, “what? You want me to take that cash back?”
He’ll sign a NDA if she hit him with one, he didn’t want to lose what he had with Solay. She was the only woman that ever made him feel loved but it’s not like he wanted to get too deep about it. Emotions were a lot to feel you know?
Solay shook her head, “no. I know there’s more where that came from, just don’t treat me like I don’t ever know what’s going on.”
“Heard you.” Cane put his phone back as he stepped closer, glancing down at her lips before sliding his hands down to rest on her backside, “can I get to show you just how important you are to me?”
One hand came up to brush her bouncy curl over her shoulder, exposing the length of her neck which he licked his lips at before placing a peck there.
She shoved him back, “not uh, I have some place else to be.”
“Oh it’s like that, so?”
“Yup it’s like that,” she smirked over her shoulder swaying her way to the front door, “don’t wait up for me. Bye!”
Cane shook his head in disbelief and looked around the empty but quiet one-level home, “fuck am I supposed to do, meditate?”
That’s when he phone rang, right on time and he picked it up on the second ring, “Dru, what’s good?”
“Got that info you wanted on Reyes. Want me to send it your way?”
“Nah just tell it to me and meet me over there.”
Cane listened carefully to what Dru told him before hanging up. A smirk was on his lips as he also took his exit from the home.
he was ready for his own fun for the night.
Sorry so.

of yours and your friends lackadaisy OCs which are your favorites other then Eve and Lottie?
LOL i mean Eve and Lottie are the top, I cant help it... i guess its no surprise that I adore Jack and Marius too. Thays why theyre major characters.
But non-UTDM wise, @juniperss also has an adorable baker Maeve who i rlly wanna draw. @cherryballistic's Lupita is an Adelita/soladera and i love her RARGH she inspired a lot of the Gunman stuff in UtDM. Ive learned a lot about @chucky-brontosaurus' Nazlı and @missedditart's Ace too :3 Oh and my partner made his cursed orange cat Catholic priest and another bestie has an Abyssinian actress im super fond of. Neither of em are on tumblr or in the fandom tho.
Ive mentioned my con artist Dolly Lee and nun Sister Marguerite, and my partner's priest is in there. They dont work well w/ UtDM so I dont rlly talk about them, tho I'll draw em sometimes. Id like to write them somehow, someday ^^

Yet the legacy of Las Soldaderas has been almost entirely redefined and retold through a primarily male perspective. It was even happening during the Revolution: Men would write songs about Las Soldaderas, emphasizing their femininity and overt sexuality, in order to diminish their military contributions and accomplishments, according to Fernández’s research. Their image was structured around these male-written corridos. Iconography surrounding Las Soldaderas often featured women dressed in low-cut, skin-tight outfits with ammunition-filled bandolier slung over their chests a la Cruz and Hayak’s Hollywood depictions. These depictions of Las Soldaderas would come to be known as Las Adelitas, named after the famed ballad La Adelita, which described an unknown soldadera who was as pretty as she was brave. Soon, the scandalous depictions of Las Adelitas would become synonymous with the worldwide image of Las Soldaderas.
But Las Soldaderas weren’t fighting for their country in brassieres — they were women often dressed like their male counterparts, in battle-ready trousers and long-sleeved shirts, with bullets strapped across their chest and guns holstered around their waists, although some did wear floor-length skirts. Under the leadership of Petra Herrera, perhaps the most well-known soldadera, a brigade of nearly 400 women aided revolutionary leader Pancho Villa, who wasn’t particularly fond of female soldiers, in his effort to take the city of Torreón from the federales. Others acted as spies across the country, nursed the wounded on both sides of the war, and even used their gender to escape from prison.
“It was hard for people to reconcile: ‘How do we remember these courageous women who were fighting in this war, but we also still continue to treat them badly?’ And one way to negate their contributions is to say, ‘Oh, these sex objects were there as well. These people are very nice to look at, and if you put a gun on them it makes them sexy and dangerous at the same time,’” Fernández says. “[This] really negates the ideas of the toughness, the mestizo toughness, the physical toughness that the women brought with them and their contributions.”

Meet the Reaper 15
Here is a new chapter. It's a beast. It's also HEAVY as hell. Like... HEED THE FUCKING WARNINGS heavy. Y'all... if anything in the warnings is a trigger - don't read it. Be responsible for your own media consumption. If you want to know what happens - ask. I'll tell you. Or better yet, tell me which warning is a trigger and I'll send you an edited version of the chapter with that part redacted and summarized instead. I'm not looking to trigger ANYONE. This is just something that I needed to write to get it off my chest.
As always... Don't steal my shit.
WARNINGS: vague medical shit, doctor visit, slightly inappropriate flirting, Megan reacting to an angry man, fluffy Mayans, talk of the international arms deals appropriate to the show, talk of payout for non-specified Mayan jobs, fluffy Hank, slightly steamy bit, talk of forced infertility.
HEED THE FUCKING WARNINGS. I get specific for a reason, people!
Tumblr media
Megan shifted her sling uncomfortably, but smiled up at Hank even if it was a little strained. “I hope I’m right.” Her face suddenly paled several shades.
Hank tugged her close and kissed her. “Me too, mi amore.” He glanced around to be sure no one was near enough to hear him. “You need to sit down so that you can rest your arm. You’ve done too much today, haven’t you?”
Megan shook her head. “I’m okay. I can do it.”
Hank frowned at her color and flagged down EZ who was behind the built in bar. “I don’t care. You’re right in the middle of your dose. You shouldn’t be uncomfortable right now and I can see that you are.”
EZ came to Hank’s side. “Need something, Hank?”
“Find la princessa a chair. She needs to ease her arm,” Hank told him quietly.
EZ nodded. “Of course.” He smiled gently at Megan and went to find a chair for her.
Hank pulled Megan in front of him to lean back against his chest so that he could take the weight of her cast. “Rest here until he gets back, mi princessa.”
The rest of the M.C. was focused on the meeting and they were behind Bishop, Marcus and Taza so the elders didn’t notice the shift in position from Megan and Hank. However, Adelita and the Galindos did.
Adelita raised her hand to pause the discussion. “Excuse me, but is she alright?” she asked Marcus, pointing to Megan. She looked genuinely concerned for her.
Marcus turned to check on Megan and saw Hank supporting her sling. “Poquito? All good?”
Taza frowned and went to stand.
Megan gave them a strained smile. “I’m alright, mi padrinos, Papa.”
Bishop looked to Hank. “Qué ocurre?”
Hank shook his head. “Tiene dolor, y no debería estarlo todavía.”
Megan growled at their use of Spanish. “Not fair.”
Taza excused himself and came to check her sling himself. “Where does it hurt, Chica?”
“Papa - I’m okay. It just hurts. It’ll pass.” She tried to smile at him again. “Don’t let me interrupt the meeting. It’s too important.”
Miguel frowned as well. “What is it? Does she need a doctor?”
Bishop took a deep breath. “Apologies, Mr. Galindo.”
Marcus nodded. “I understand you loaned us manpower when Megan was kidnapped. Megan was in a car accident during that rescue attempt and was injured fairly severely.”
Devante frowned. “Then perhaps we should finish our meeting quickly so the girl can leave. She isn’t essential for this anyway. Perhaps she should just go.”
Emily frowned severely at Devante, but turned to Marcus and Bishop. “Are you sure she doesn’t need a doctor?”
Megan shook her head. “Again. I apologize. It was a very recent incident and my family worries. I am alright. Please - continue the meeting.”
Hank nodded a little at Bishop. “I’ve got mi princessa,” he assured Taza and the others. “I sent the prospect for supplies for her. He’ll be right back. Go ahead. I’ll let you know if it gets worse.”
Adelita stood and went behind the bar. She quickly put together an ice pack and brought it to Hank. “Here. Maybe this will help ease the pain until your friend returns.” She smiled at Megan. “We will hurry and be done soon.” As she returned to the group with Taza behind her she squeezed Megan’s good shoulder in support. It was worth it to note that Rex never growled at Adelita - just watched her closely.
EZ came back in with a chair from another conference room and several pillows that he’d weedled out of housekeeping.
“There. See. The girl is fine. Can we please get back to the business at hand instead of fussing over a hysterical child?” Devante stated shortly.
Marcus’ eyes narrowed and Bishop looked angry, but both of them nodded. “Of course.” They glanced at Megan worriedly, but nodded again.
Hank got Megan into the chair, putting the makeshift ice pack on her collarbone and EZ propped pillows under her casted arm. Creeper brought her a bottle of water. Coco watched worriedly and squatted in front of her to watch her color. Her father and uncles kept glancing back to check on her.
Megan rolled her eyes impatiently. “I just shifted wrong. The pain will pass. This is why I said I’d be a distraction,” she hissed at them.
Gilly snorted. “Princessa, distraction or not, business is still happening. You aren’t hurting anything.” He nodded towards the huddle.
A few minutes later, the shot caller all stood to shake hands. Emily gathered the contracts and took the rough drafts to EZ at the bar for him to shred. Marcus spoke with Miguel and Devante, while Bishop and Taza introduced themselves to Adelita - who used the name Luisa - properly.
The rest of the M.C followed their president’s example and introduced themselves to the leader of the LO. Hank stayed back with Megan, watching her color starting to return to normal, but noting that she was still shaking a little. After she had met everyone else, Luisa came over to introduce herself to Hank. Then she turned to Megan.
Megan smiled up at her from her chair. “Hi. I’m Megan.”
Luisa shook Megan’s left hand gently. “Luisa. Are you feeling better?”
Megan nodded. “Sorry about that. They worry. I’ll be alright. The pain is passing,” Megan assured her with a small smile.
“Good. If you need help -” Luisa offered uncertainly.
Megan smiled at her again and petted Rex’s ears. “Thank you. I’m okay. I just shifted wrong I think. I have a broken collarbone as well as the broken wrist…”
Coco snorted, “And cracked ribs and a concussion…”
Luisa frowned. “I see… these injuries are… serious.”
“I’m healing. That’s all. I’ll be just fine in a few weeks.” Megan smiled up at her again. “I would like to be of help to this new alliance though.”
That caused Adelita to smile. “I have no doubt that you will be, Megan. Soon. Heal first.” She smiled gently again and went to speak to someone else.
Emily Galindo made her way over to check on Megan as well, but didn’t get too close when Rex shifted uncomfortably as she approached. “I just wanted to check on you to be sure you’re really alright,” she said.
Megan took a breath and turned her Southern Bell Company Smiled back on. “Of course, Mrs. Galindo. My apologies for the interruption. I will be just fine.”
Emily pursed her lips and nodded. “Of course. Please, let me know if you need anything in Santo Padre. We’re on the same side, after all.”
“Of course ma’am.” Megan nodded politely. Hank smiled politely as well as the blonde socialite moved on.
Once pleasantries were over with, Galindo asked if Marcus would ride back to Santo Padre with him. Marcus explained that the club would be staying at least one more night at the casino for Megan’s birthday, but offered to meet with him privately in another room. Miguel frowned, but sent Devante to speak to the front desk about accommodations for himself, Emily and Luisa for the night. “We do not wish to interrupt club business. Adelita, Devante and I have some… business to conclude ourselves. Perhaps a breakfast meeting tomorrow morning then,” Miguel offered.
“Of course, Mr. Galindo,” Marcus said.
Just before everyone left, Miguel made his way over to where Megan sat with Rex beside her. Hank had gone to dispose of the ice pack at the bar. “Megan - it truly is good to see you came to no lasting harm from your recent ordeal. Please, if there’s anything I can do to make your stay in Santo Padre more comfortable let me know. Your godfather is a very old friend of my father’s. I’d like to be of assistance to you if you’d let me,” he said politely.
Megan firmed her back and sat up straight. “Thank you for your concern, Mr. Galindo, and for the help you provided my family when I was taken, but I’m fine. My family has me covered,” Megan said as she dialed the Southern charm up to eleven.
“All the same, here’s my card.” He produced a business card for her.
Rex pressed to her leg growling softly as she took the card without touching Galindo and nodded politely. “Thank you, sir.” She immediately reached for Rex’s collar to hold on to him.
Miguel offered one more appraising nod and went to stand with Emily as she packed away all her legal tools.
Hank came to rejoin Megan warily. “What was that all about?” he asked in a low growl that made Megan tense.
Megan immediately handed him the business card. “I’m not sure. He said his father and Tío Marcus were friends and that he’d like to help me where he could. It was weird. It kind of reminded me of a rodeo team owner schmoozing a possible rider.” She bit her lip a little worriedly. “I deflected as much as I politely could.”
Hank growled again with his eyes on Miguel across the room. “I don’t like that he’s taken an interest in you…”
“I’m sorry…” Megan whispered and lowered her eyes to fiddle with her own zipper pull on her new kutte.
Hank frowned and looked at her. “Sorry? For what, mi amore? You did nothing wrong.”
“But maybe I drew too much attention, or maybe if I’d worn different clothes, or just kept my mouth shut…” she rambled.
Hank squatted in front of her and was startled to see tears gathering on her lash line. “Princessa, I’m not angry with you. You did absolutely beautifully today.” He used gentle fingers to tilt her chin and kiss her softly. He pressed his forehead to hers after he pulled away. I’m not upset at you at all. I’m upset that Mister Married Deep Pockets seems to think you’re fair game.”
Megan blinked rapidly. “I didn’t try to get his attention - honestly.”
“Oh, baby. I know that.” He stood and lifted her gently so that he could slide in under her in the chair, putting her in his lap. He cradled her close and pressed gentle kisses to her hairline. “I’m sorry I growled. It wasn’t aimed at you. Never at you, mi amore. I was aggravated at him.” He tilted her chin and pressed another gentle kiss to her lips. “You did NOTHING wrong, Princessa.”
Megan nodded slowly and swallowed hard before burying her face in his neck. “Can I take more medicine yet? It really hurts still.”
Hank frowned and looked at his watch in alarm. She was over a half hour early. She’d never asked for her pain medicine before. “Sure, mi reina.” He got her another dose and helped her take it with the bottle of water Creeper had given her earlier. “Is it your collarbone or your wrist?”
“My wrist.”
Hank flagged down Coco. “Can you get Taza to come here, man?”
“Sure. Everything alright?” Coco asked warily.
“Hopefully. Just get him.” Hank cuddled her close to his body, supporting her wrist cast.
Taza hurried over as Coco slipped out of the room with the rest of the younger Mayans. Before Coco got out the door, he gave Hank another worried look.
“What’s going on?” Taza asked.
“Megan says her wrist is really hurting all of a sudden,” Hank explained. “I just gave her another dose a little early, but something’s not right, Taza. She’s never asked for a dose of pain medicine before.”
Taza squatted in front of them and got licked on the chin by Rex for the trouble. He chuckled a little and petted the dog. “Where on your wrist is hurting, Chica? Maybe the break shifted?”
Megan pointed to the spot on the side of her wrist, just under her thumb. “I shifted my sling during the meeting and suddenly had shooting pain right here. Worse than it’s ever been - even before I started taking the pills.” She sniffled a little and leaned into Hank some more.
Taza’s eyebrows raised. “Stay put, Sweet Chica. I’m going to check if Adam keeps a staff doctor. If not, we’ll head to the hospital.”
Megan swallowed. “I’d rather not, Papa.”
Hank rocked her gently. “We know, mi amore, but you need to be checked over. I’ll stay with you the whole time.” He kissed her hair and nodded at Taza who left the room. “Shhh, mi reina. It’s going to be alright. We’ve got you.”
Megan buried her face against his neck and he could feel tears on his skin that she had been holding back.
Rex stood and growled softly as Creeper approached. Creep calmly lifted his hands and spoke soothingly to the big animal. “Easy, Rex. Just me. Just wanna check on your mama. Good boy.” He looked to Hank. “She hurting still?” He didn’t come closer just yet.
Hank nodded. “Rex, down. Just Creeper. Let him in.”
The animal stopped growling and his hackles went down, but he remained standing between Megan and the rest of the room.
Creeper cautiously took another step towards them, and when Rex stayed calm, he moved to Hank’s side. “Anything I can do, brother?”
“Taza’s gone to see if the casino keeps a doctor on staff. She hates hospitals, but we’ll go if there’s not one here,” Hank explained. “It’s her wrist.”
Creeper squatted down to support her wrist cast for Hank so the big biker could use both hands to soothe and hold her. “Where?”
Megan sniffled wetly. “By the thumb. Under the cast.”
Creeper frowned. “I saw the x-rays after the accident. That’s not where you broke it, Little Princess. Did you bump it today at the store or anything? Or maybe try to move it like you did the other morning at breakfast?”
Megan shook her head but didn’t lift her eyes. She kept her face buried in the crook between Hank’s neck and shoulder.
Creeper looked to Hank. “Did she have a nightmare during that nap before lunch? Maybe try to reach for you in her sleep?”
Hank shook his head and kissed Megan’s forehead. “No. Nothing since a bad one last night. I think I got her stabilized in time during that one though.”
Creeper tilted his head in thought. “Then it’s not a new break. Sometimes if you strain against the cast, it can cause little breaks. Least that’s what they told me last time I had a cast.”
Taza came hurrying back in. “Adam’s got the local doctor on speed dial. He called him. Said he’d be here soon. Let’s take her back to the suite. He’ll meet us there,” he said, glancing at where EZ was still shredding papers and the door that the Galindo party had exited from not long before.
Hank nodded. He looked at Creeper. “Could you take Rex out before you come up? I’m just going to carry her.”
“Course, brother. Anything you need.” Creeper grabbed Rex’s leash and tugged gently. “Come on, Rex. Let’s go outside.”
Rex resisted a little, looking at Megan and whining.
Hank stroked her hair back. “Mi amore, I think Rex wants you to tell him it’s okay for Creeper to take him outside.”
Megan giggled a little, but lifted her head to look at Rex with a sniff. “Good boy. Go on. Creeper’s gonna take you on a walk. I’m okay.”
The dog whined again, but reluctantly followed Creeper out of the room.
Taza shook his head in amazement. “Happy sure undersold that pooch in the brains department.”
Hank nodded before arranging Megan so he could stand without jostling her too much. “You can say that again.”
—---------
A little over an hour later, the doctor Adam had called stepped out of the room Megan and Hank were using to a common room full of concerned bikers.
Bishop stood. “Well?”
The older doctor chuckled. “Ms. Morales said you’d all probably be worried. She’s alright. Before you leave tomorrow she’s got an appointment at my clinic here on the Rez. They casted her arm while she was unconscious and it was done awkwardly causing strain on her muscles and tendons. That’s why she’s been in so much pain. Her muscles are pulling against the broken bone constantly. I’ll re-cast it and it will remove the strain, relaxing those muscles. I also plan to examine her collarbone to see if it’s healed enough to remove the sling if I put her in a soft cast instead of plaster.” The doctor smiled as all the men relaxed. He could hear them collectively breathing easier. “She’s going to be fine, gentlemen. I gave her a mild muscle relaxer that won’t affect her thinking processes since she explained she doesn’t like the side effects of the stronger pain killers. It should hold until tomorrow morning when I see her again. If not, call me.”
Marcus smiled. “Thank you, Doc.”
“Of course. Her father and … boyfriend?... are with her. I gave them my card in case anything changes, but…” he produced another business card from the pocket of his white coat. “Here’s another copy for the rest of you.”
Bishop took the card and with a polite nod, the doctor left.
Creeper went to let Rex into the bedroom, only to be met by Taza coming out. They let the big dog in the room and then quietly shut the door before returning to the conference table.
“Doc said it was good news, but how is she really?” Creeper asked him as Taza took his seat.
Taza took a beer from EZ and sighed. “She’s being a trooper. Apparently the pain has been worse than we thought this entire time. Doc said that he’s surprised she hadn’t caved and went to the ER with it… or broke the cast with the muscle spasms she’s been having. Hank’s sitting on her to make her rest until the shot the doc gave her can take full effect.”
Bishop nodded. “That what pulled you away from the Galindo meeting the first time?”
Taza chuckled. “Actually… no. La princessa earned her kutte in that meeting, brother.” He sipped his beer with a smirk. “She may have solved our Irish problem.”
There was a thump as all four legs of the chair Angel had been leaning back in hit the ground. Suddenly Taza had every man’s attention in the room. The meeting had only taken a few hours, and everyone was now back in the rooms.
Marcus sat forward. “What do you mean, hermano?”
Bishop raised a hand to make them pause. “Do we need to table?”
Taza shrugged. “We will need to eventually, but it’s not urgent enough that it can’t wait until we’re home for the official vote.”
Both Bishop and Marcus nodded. “Alright then,” Bishop said. “Fill us in.”
Taza explained Megan’s theory about Adelita and Los Olvidados being their solution to needing a port. He pointed out all the things she had said to him - how the rebels are widespread, powerful, and damn near impossible to find if they don’t want to be. He sealed the deal for Bishop by bringing up Megan’s point about how bringing the LO close helps eliminate the motive to double cross the M.C. even if they do fall out with Galindo. “And - Megan also pointed out that the twenty percent we were prepared to offer the VM would buy a lot of supplies for Adelita’s orphans.”
Bishop chuckled and said back in his chair. He took a sip of his whiskey and looked at Marcus. “Well El Padrino… what do you think?”
Marcus smirked. “I think… if this works out the way she thinks it will… Megan has more than earned that kutte.” He looked at Bishop. “I’m supposed to have that breakfast meeting with Galindo tomorrow. WIll you meet with her and feel her out?”
Bishop nodded. “Of course, Primo. A few of us can meet with her and any people she has with her.” He looked at Taza. “What time is Megan’s appointment tomorrow morning? I'd like her to be there. It’s her plan. She should get to execute it.”
“Seven. Should be done by nine or nine thirty at the latest,” Taza said.
Riz nodded. “I’ll reach out and see if Adelita has time for us around ten, just to be safe.”
“Good.” Bishop grinned again. “Hopefully we can call Chibs by noon with good news.”
Creeper raised a hand. “I’ve got something to bring to the table.” He looked at Taza. “Fairly sure you can proxy Hank’s vote on this one. No need to pull him away from Princess-sitting.”
Bishop nodded. “Alright, Creep. Let’s hear it. We’ll see if we need to proxy after that.”
Creeper sat up and met all the men’s eyes. “Little Princess just may have saved our collective asses. I know the armorer vote already went through, but we didn’t talk about if she gets a cut. She won’t vote, but… brothers… that girl just proved she’s worthy of something. We said she could go on runs, but if she does - she shouldn’t be doing it for free.”
Gilly frowned. “You mean - we gotta vote on if la princessa gets paid to risk her ass like the rest of us? If she’s on a run, I just assumed she'd get a cut like the rest of us. Hell - even if she’s not on the run. We all get payouts monthly from profits - shouldn’t she?”
Angel frowned. “But those are benefits of membership. Prospects only get payouts for specific jobs. They don’t get the stipend. She’s not a voting member.”
Coco shrugged. “Only because she don’t got a dick. I say she risks just as much as a member, she should get paid like one.”
Riz shook his head at Coco’s phrasing. “Not how I would have said it - but Coco’s got a point.”
Bishop sat in thought a moment. “Poquito would argue that she’s not a patch and shouldn’t be treated like one…” He nodded to Angel.
Several of the men started to protest, but shut up when Bishop raised his hand. “I’m just telling you what her argument will be if we try to give her a stipend. She probably won’t take payout from runs either if we leave it up to her.” He looked around the table. The Oakland Mayans were listening, but offered no comments. “I say we vote it now so she can’t argue and we can say it’s her salary for being armorer.”
“Seconded,” Creeper said.
“Me too,” added Gilly.
“Alright then. We vote. All in favor of Poquito getting run payouts and the stipend monthly?” Bishop asked.
Hands went up around the table. Angel was the last to raise his hand, but he did with a sigh.
Bishop nodded. “We’ll just proxy Hank as a yes, shall we?” he said with a grin.
The men chuckled and nodded.
“Alright then - Poquito will be paid as our armorer.” Bishop nicked on the table. “Thanks Creep. Not something we’d thought of.”
Creeper nodded with a grin.
“Now that the serious shit is over with - Adam said the tribe is throwing their monthly bonfire tonight. I’m taking Megan so she can hear the stories and for the dancing. Anyone else?” Taza asked.
Angel, Coco and Gilly shook their heads. “We’ve got plans for the prospect this evening too,” Angel said.
Marcus and Bishop both laughed. “Nah, brother. We’ll stick here. Let you guys get some downtime.”
The Oakland boys said the same.
“Riz? Creep?” Taza asked.
Riz grinned. “I’ve got a date with the bartender downstairs. Can’t, man.”
Creeper laughed. “Sure. I’ll come alone. If nothing else, I can dog sit while you take the Little Princess around.”
—----
In the bedroom, Hank was doing his damndest to keep Megan down for a little while longer. She was anxious about Taza presenting the idea to the club and wanted to be out there listening to them discuss it. However, the doc had said for her to lay down for at least another thirty minutes to give the shot time to work. He laid next to her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Relax, mi reina. The club will be nothing but proud of you for this idea.”
“What if they aren’t though? What if they think it’s stupid or if they think it’s too dangerous or…”
Hank chuckled and kissed her silent. He deepened the kiss when she moaned softly before pulling back just enough to speak. “Mi amore - they won’t. And if they do - you’ll have plenty of time to convince them otherwise.” He kissed her again cradling her face in one of his giant hands.
Megan giggled. “If you’re going to kiss me to shut me up, I may never stop talking.”
He shifted himself to rest his hips between her legs and held his weight on his forearm with a grin. “I do think there are better ways to occupy your mouth than worrying, Princessa.”
“Mmm. Think I may need another example.” She lifted her head to kiss his jaw.
Hank lowered himself so she could feel his weight as well as reach him without moving anything she wasn’t supposed to. He tilted his head for her encouragingly. He knew he’d need a cold shower after this, but couldn’t bring himself to care.
Megan pressed nibbling kisses beneath his jaw to his ear. “This what you had in mind?” She felt the rumble of his laugh through his chest and throat.
“Not quite, but I guess turnabout is fair play…” he whispered, allowing his free hand to wander a bit until he felt her skin as she kept kissing. He shifted to catch her lips with his and felt her fingers in his hair. “Mmm. Good girl.”
Megan laughed and tried to raise her hips only to find his were holding her securely down. Her breath caught on a light moan. She tugged at his shirt with her hand. “Want it off…”
Hank smiled hugely and kissed her again before sitting up on his knees and pulling his shirt over his head by the collar. He bent and placed kisses along her stomach where her shirt had ridden up before laying himself back down against her. “Better, mi reina?”
Megan traced the lines where his arm bulged as he held his weight off of her with her good hand and nodded. She marveled at the strength of him and ducked her head to kiss his tattooed collarbones.
Hank shivered pleasantly at the feel of her lips on his skin. She was feeling brave tonight and he loved it. He used his free hand to slide her shirt higher over her low-rise jeans, feeling the texture of scars against his rough palms. He knew they were there, but didn’t know all their stories yet.
Megan nibbled across his tattoos, exploring a little. She didn’t want to push him, but she really wanted more. She shifted her torso to reach him better and hissed as suddenly her right side ached.
Hank pulled himself up and away from her. “Princessa?”
Megan whined at the distance. “No…” She tugged at him.
“Uh uh. What hurts?” Hank asked insistently. Hearing her hiss in pain had turned his hormones right off.
Megan growled. “I’m fine! I just moved wrong. You didn’t hurt me.” She reached up to cradle his neck with her good hand. “Come back here.”
Hank frowned and shifted to the side to lay against her good side. “No. What hurt? Talk to me.”
Megan threw her head back in frustration and bit her lip. “I just twisted when I squirmed. I’m fine. We don’t have to stop.”
He shook his head and brushed her hair out of her face before turning her chin to make him look at him. “Baby, no. I won’t let you hurt yourself trying to push your body when it’s not even half healed.” He leaned in to kiss her gently before feathering kisses across her cheekbones. “There’s no hurry, mi amore. I love you. I’m not going anywhere.”
Megan closed her eyes tight and swallowed tears of frustration. “I love you too. It’s just…”
He gently tugged her onto her left side and cradled her against his chest, letting her bury her face in his tattoos. He knew it was sometimes easier for her to talk if she wasn’t looking at him. “Just what, Princessa? Talk to me.”
“I finally found someone that I want this with - for the first time in my life it’s my choice - I can make the choice to take this farther - and now I can’t,” she said quietly.
Hank pressed her closer to him and kissed her hair, rubbing her back soothingly. “I’m sorry, mi princessa,” he whispered. “I hate the implications of that.” He took a deep breath to control his emotions and tilted her chin up so he could meet her eyes again. “WE are always your choice. You know that won’t change, right?”
Megan nodded. “Except now…”
Hank dipped his head to kiss her with a groan. “Except now when I’ll hurt you if we go further.”
“We went further this morning and you didn’t hurt me, Hank.”
He chuckled. “I got carried away this morning. You’re so damn beautiful you fry my brain sometimes. I could have really hurt you if you’d moved wrong. If you’d over-balanced, I could have rebroken your collarbone catching you.”
She looked up at him through her lashes, “ But you didn’t.”
“Because you’ve got damn near perfect balance, but it’s still a major risk, mi amore. One that I can’t justify just because I’m horny.” He rubbed her back some more.
Megan buried her face back in his warm skin muttering, “You aren’t the only one.”
Hank laughed outright. “Let’s see what the doctor says tomorrow, hmm? There are other things to think about before we take this further too.”
Megan looked up at him a little curiously. “What other things?”
Hank’s face heated a bit. “Well for one - I don’t exactly carry protection, mi reina. Hasn’t really been an issue. And I know you aren’t on the pill…”
“Oh…” Megan said quietly and sat up so he couldn’t see her face. “Ummm… that’s… that’s a non-issue,” she said, not looking at him.
Hank sat up and reached for her to find her stiff with tension. “Megan… what’s wrong?”
Megan let her head fall forward so her hair hid her face from him. “Nothing.” She sat on the edge of the bed facing away from him.
Hank moved to sit behind her with her back to his chest and found her quivering. “Megan, Baby, what’s wrong? Why are you shaking?” He braced her against him but didn’t force her to face him. “Did I scare you?”
She shook her head, but kept her face hidden.
“Then what is it, Princessa? Let me help? Please?”
“Protection is a non-issue. I can’t get pregnant,” she said quietly, her voice shaking and coming out very strained.
Hank paused. He wrapped himself around her from behind, cradling and supporting her shaking body. “Something else you didn’t choose?”
Megan swallowed hard and nodded.
Hank pressed kisses to her temple and rocked her gently. “Ok. You don’t have to tell me, mi reina. You can if you want to, but you don’t have to.” He cleared his throat trying to swallow his emotions.
Megan was still tense. “I probably should have told you that sooner,” she said in a monotone. “I’ll understand if it’s a deal breaker. Tío Bishop will probably switch rooms with me if you’d rather…”
Hank froze before tilting her face to make her look at him. Her eyes were swimming in unshed tears as her lips quivered. He pressed his forehead to hers and made her look him in the eyes. “I love you, Megan. I love you because you are you, not because of some potential future. The fact that you can’t get pregnant doesn’t affect that, mi amore. There are other ways to have children if that’s something we decide we want someday. This changes nothing. Nothing. Do you understand me?”
Megan sobbed and lunged for him, wrapping herself around him as tightly as she could.
Hank held her tightly, pressing kisses to her where he could reach. He rocked her gently in his lap, shushing her and doing his damndest to reassure her with his touch.
Rex watched this all warily from his corner, but stayed there.
Hank soothed Megan as best he could, easing her to lay tangled with him. Her breathing eased slightly as he whispered to her in Spanish. When she quieted, he shifted to see her face where it was buried in his shoulder only to find her asleep in his arms.

oc birdsonas list (Subject to change)
misha- blakiston's fish owl
Tumblr media Tumblr media
while i generally try to associate characters with animals whos native ranges overlap with where theyre from im gonna give a little leeway on this one (misha is from northern mongolia in whats now khovsgol, these live in eastern china eastern siberia and hokkaido) cause it seems like it fits misha really really well. they share a big imposing frame and permanent death glare. these are the largest owls in the world and misha is 6'10 so like. i feel like that one makes sense
tseren - golden eagle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one was probably the most obvious choice tbh. theyre a big assertive guy with a great sense of aim so the association with a big bird of prey thats a very precise hunter made sense for them
adelita - up in the air rn but im thinking Maybe a burrowing owl. all of my fairies are pretty explicitly tied to birds especially owls and adelita canonically grew up in a burrowing owl den. look at how round these things are
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jacinta - elf owl or possibly a costa's hummingbird. elf owls are cactus dwellers and thery served as the initial inspiration for my desert fairies and back when i was originally writing her i initially considered giving her a elf owl form as a magic disguise. the costa's hummingbird was a option just cause she ourple
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
tadai - roadrunner
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tadai is literally just the o'odham word for roadrunner i feel like i aint need to put much thought into this one
tulipán - verdin
originally i was thinking either a very disheveled little owl chick (this isnt meant to be mean to her. owls just kinda looked fucked up for the first few months of life) or a anna's hummingbird But i recently learned that the o'odham word for verdin (gi:sobï) is used as a petname for children which i thought was very cute. theyre little cactus dwelling birds and theyre very cute so it fits her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lou - remains undecided but a sandhill crane is probably my best guess for the moment since theyre really tall and lanky like him

Holding Lyney close as soft sobs shake his chest, combing your fingers through his hair. His hat had long since been cast aside and the braid that used to be done so neatly was no where to be seen. The blonde traveller long since stormed out and Lynette took a moment to breathe. The poor man simply broke. He could only keep up his charade for so long.
Craddling him in your arms as his tears stained your clothes, not that you minded. He had been through so much in the past few days and even a skilled actor like him needs a moment to let out their stress.
Whisper to him that you won't leave him and his sister regardless of who they have ties to. Tell him that you love him and he is still the same man that gives you rainbow roses every day, the same man that is so kind and polite to you, the same man that accepted you into his family when you were alone, and that this isn't going to change anything between the two of you.
He only cries and cries, his arms wrapped tightly around your waist as if he is afraid you would run if he let go. You brush the hair away from his forehead and place a soft kiss on it, and then another, and another, until you're fairly sure you've completely littered it with small pecks.
He cries himself to sleep in your arms, his make up his smudged and a mess yet he is still beautiful to you. You take his corset off of him and then his small cape, lastly his boots come off. He should be much more comfortable now and rest better.
You find yourself beginning to doze off in the couch you sat yourselves in previously. Draping his cape over the two of you, you close your eyes and join him in a much needed slumber.

Mayans M.C. - 05x04
Good grief. Let's roll around in some of this for a minute.
THE ACTUAL HELL IS EZ DOING TO THIS CLUB. Not only to the Mayans, to Santa Padre, but now he's getting the Broken Saints involved in it? Nothing good can come from this. Nothing. I swear, if we end up seeing more dead animals (fake, yes, but still deeply unsettling) because of this motherfucker... I've never watched Survivor, but isn't this grounds enough to vote him off the fucking island?!
Anyhow, to balance my bitching with a positive...
How fucking cute was Bishop's little smile, "It's early for us?" ^_^. That made me SO happy, and I don't quite know why.
I was hoping it would take longer for EZ to be identified as the rat. That could have been a fun little thing to watch for another week or two, watching Kody/Katie put things together, a bit at a time. While I realize this is all happening on a one-season deadline... Y'know. I was just hoping the pacing would be a little more exciting.
On that note, that's something else I feel that I am missing with these last few seasons is that feeling of excitement that a really excellent story offers up. It's a pacing thing, and a writing thing, so caught up in this sad little monologues from various characters, we lose out on plot.
Eh. Anyway.
GILLY. That was one of the other highlights of the episode for me. Whether or not there's actually a relationship there, at the given moment, that little moment of domesticity was just beautiful. I want that for him, which probably means that he won't get it in the end. -_-. Motherfucker. Anyhow.
I found the scene with Lobo disturbing. Not in a manner that left me wanting to hide my eyes. A dude wants to take a taste of pure, cooking-phase heroin ingredients, hey, that's just Natural Selection, right there. But, the fact that a group of his brothers stood around and watched him die? I dunno'. Something about that felt so cold and disconnected. Legalities of their activities aside, it's just the feeling that this Reign of Ezekiel is bringing with it, I guess. No real love, or loyalty, just fear, and the half-silent struggle of making it to the next day. Scarcity. This season makes me think of the Four Horsemen, that they've all somehow ridden into Santo Padre, and this is it.
I mean, sure, it is, but. Y'know.
Anyway. I'll unpack that Four Horsemen thing a bit later. It gives me an idea.
All the same, I was on Sofia's side on this one, despite the forced plot device. (Again, you'd think a full patch would fucking know better?!). Sure, there may not have been time to save the guy, and, yeah, there was the cook house to consider, amongst other things, but it had to have been pretty damned upsetting to watch no one give a fucking damn. I'm really stuck on that. It just doesn't arrange well in my head.
Postive: STEPHANIE!!!! I was very happy to see her, and that she was doing so well! Smiling! That poor girl. Seriously. I'm still crossing my fingers for her to get a Happily Ever After with Hank. <3 .
Negative: FUCK, do I miss Taza. While I'm glad that his being long gone means that I (probably) won't have to watch him die, it's just not the same without him around.
SAMDINO hit Yuma. Okay. Isaac has an interesting tactic. Makes perfect sense, but, again, it could have been presented with a bit more oomph. Every time someone gets nailed, it comes across as a, "Oh, shit... Ah, well." C'mon, now. If you're at war, be at fucking war. While the pipeline is important to their survival, so is, y'know, fucking surviving.
Sorry. People are dropping like flies around EZ, and he has tunnel vision on taking out the fucking Cartel. "Undermanned, with a half-assed plan." (Thank you, Dutch).
So, I think that that about sums up my major thoughts. Now, for some random things.
The List of Shit I No Longer Care About
Emily Galindo. That's it. I don't give a damn whether she makes it out, or doesn't. I'm just tired of seeing the inside of that fucking store, man.
The Angel/Adelita relationship. It's bound to go to shit (again), and it's not even all Angel's fault, this time!
The fucking pipeline. This one may be less about not caring, and more about not being particular on how it comes out. It will make for a better ending, I think, if they fuck it all up. But.
The entire Soledad vengeance thing. I need to re-watch a few parts, but that's where I typically tune out.
Sofia's ex? I hope that doesn't become A Thing.
Proper Fucking Grammar. This post is such a mess, and y'all, I am SO SORRY for it.
The List of Shit I Care Deeply About
I want the kids - ALL of the kids - to make it out of this okay. That includes Letty. Some real Sins of the Father shit she has going on there.
I know I already said it, but please, NO MORE DEAD ANIMALS. Thank you.
Bottles. Dude reminds me of my husband, especially when he talked about what he went through as a child. I wanted to give him a big ol' hug, just because.
ALSO. His friendship with Elio? LOVING IT!! That's about as deep a friendship as I've felt in this show, all season, and I am here for it!! P.S. I'm also pissed that they've been split up. >:(. >:C. I'm so upset, now!!!!
The Angel/Miguel scene teased for 05x05. *le sighs* I am sold-and-a-half on the Family Trauma Storyline, so this should be magical.
My work, which I should be doing right now, but hey. It's a slow day.
Catch y'all next week!

175. The Coven, by Lizzie Fry
Tumblr media
Owned: No, library Page count: 435 My summary: Witchcraft is real. It's the oldest tradition in the world - and yet, the men want it to be suppressed. Only women can have magic, but magic is often harmful to men. Magic is illegal, women split into criminal witches and 'Goodys', with women being imprisoned if they dare to show any signs of magic. But there is a resistance ready and waiting. Soon, the One will appear. And the witches will have their day. My rating: 2/5 My commentary:
I'm ever confused by the categories the library I work in uses for the stock. This is about witches, and is set in a modern-day world where witchcraft is a known reality of life, and yet it apparently doesn't qualify as being fantasy. Anyway. One of the things that will instantly draw me to a book is if it includes magic, witches, or witchcraft, so you better believe I snatched this one up as soon as I saw it on the shelves. And…do you ever feel yourself getting steadily less interested in a book as you read it? I started out interested in the world and in the premise outlined here, but as the story went on I was just becoming more and more bored with it, to the point where I only really read the last third of the book out of the sunk-costs fallacy, rather than any actual desire to finish it. There's good roots to this story and to this idea. Unfortunately, those roots didn't sprout a book that lives up to the promise of its premise, and the result was just sort of…meh.
Firstly, I had a real problem with the plainness of the prose, especially as things went on. A lot was pure exposition or stating things like 'she was happy about this' or 'she trusted him now', with not a lot of nuance. Hell, the entire epilogue, rather than being a wrap-up of where our characters are now or anything, was just an exposition dump in the form of a school lesson featuring characters we've never seen before and don't care about! It's just not the most compelling style of writing. When questions are answered, they're answered in a very direct way, and the author seems to have struggled to communicate some elements of world building in a well-integrated way. There's a device used in the earlier chapters where we see glimpses of in-universe speeches, pamphlets, and propaganda which carry the load of the exposition, but that seems to be quietly dropped in later chapters, so the characters have to do all the expositing and it doesn't quite work as well.
Secondly, the feminism espoused by this book was kind of muddled, and very shallow. Men are all oppressors bar a few Good Ones, and loudly decry any men who help women as cucks. Granted, most of the men we see are part of the anti-witch Sentinels and so are trained to be egregiously misogynistic, but the overall feeling is the same as any 'boys vs girls' story from a children's book. I didn't think the feminism was particularly in-depth, is my point - and the attempts at intersectionality felt half-hearted. There's a minor character who's revealed to be trans in an incredibly clumsy way and just feels like she's there to show that trans women are women - alright, fair enough, but given the premise of the gender-based violence in this world I would have thought that the idea of a trans witch might merit a bit more discussion. She literally just exists to almost (and I hate to use this word) virtue-signal without any thought of the wider implications of a transgender witch. It just rubbed me up the wrong way. Add to this that the feminism of the book still continues to uphold gendered stereotypes. Ethan is strong and manly. Adelita is a mother to Chloe. Women are fighters through magic or cunning; men use force. That sort of thing.
It also doesn't help that our overall villain is a woman who is very feminine, carefully calculates her appearance, and overall fits the evil girlboss kind of stereotype. But she feels like a cardboard cutout, as do many of the characters. Adelita is plucky and sensitive, Ethan is macho with a sensitive side, Chloe is troubled. Ethan in particular doesn't really get the development he should - hey, it's not that you can never write a sympathetic recently-ex-fascist character, but the author throws in stuff like 'his family were literal Nazis' that doesn't get followed up and really just makes me lose a lot of sympathy for him. A lot of characters are introduced, which means that many of them are one-note and don't really amount to anything interesting. It's just not enough, it could be more, and that's what really frustrated me about the book in general.
Next up, ever wondered how to survive in medieval England as a frugal wizard?

Back again with questions. Only it’s about Mayans…as I said before I never returned after the s3 finale. I have bolded the questions because it somehow turned into a rant post as well.
1. Was Manny Montana being brought to Mayans worth it? OR was his addition a tactic to garner more attention back to the show?
With him being freed up from Good Girls, I keep thinking they brought Manny in because they know he can play someone who can fit into an outlaw role (ie Rio), but can also a lovable soft side (ie Johnny T). Ya’ll know I follow Manny from fan base to fan base, and love to see my guy booked & busy. But I’d hate to pick Mayans back up to find they’ve shoveled in a temporary character to avoid developing the old. My guess is he’s from the charter that showed up at the end of S3. So his character is probably just to fill in for S4 to distract us from the poor writing of S3. Probably won’t make it pass a season, kinda like how they used the prospect character for a bit and tossed him away in S3.
2. Do they ever focus on Miguel being Felipe’s child???
That storyline alone could have saved Mayans. I think Elgin could learn from “less is more.” I liked SOA and definitely noticed its faults BUT….You know our boy Kurt would have cut out all the extra “mini-shocking” storylines like Angel being a hoe (and disrespecting his momma’s memory by giving her ring to Nails), Coco’s trip to Meth Mountain (when he could have just been a father to Letty and adopt Mini), Ez and Gabby (Sutter would’ve had Ez pining for Em with them sharing some long lost love stares across town like Jax and Tara in S1), and Bishop’s dead son (I’m sorry but they could have used that screen time to develop Bish into a bad ass Prez. That “bad ass Prez” was implied when I just wanted to see Bishop fuck shit up). Used ALL that wasted screen time to develop Miguel into the central character opposite of Ez. How would this simple tactic develop a far more interesting plot than what we were served in S3? Miguel be the father of Adelita’s baby. Fuel source #1 to the fire in the ultimate brother show down. Angel has a reason to hate Miguel. Fuel source #2 to the ultimate brother show down? Miguel fathering another woman’s child…easy plug to push Emily back into Ez’s arms. Which would have given enough ammo to push the original premise of this being a battle between brothers….Fuel source #3 Miguel wouldn’t have chickened out of killing Emily. He would have had Miguel drown her. Not saying this because I don’t like her character. Just saying that Sutter knew one thing “less is more.” It takes a simple act to tip a characters motives and the plot. Prime example: Opie being killed lit a fire under Jax’s ass and started pushing him toward’s the main goal of Jax dying. If they had taken that route they could have easily killed two birds with one stone. Miguel would have finally “crossed the line” separating him from his father. They made big deal saying he wanted to be different from his dad, but in the next scene show he was a lot like the man he was running from. With Emily being dead Ez would have a motivation in the Miguel and Ez tension they pushed the entire first season, only to randomly leave it at the end of S1. My guess is instead, Elgin has Gabby killed because she was Ez’s love interest when I stopped the show. But if he did I as a viewer wouldn’t buy that as enough for Ez to tip like Jax did. He knew Gabby for what…a year??
3. Lastly, did Hank get away from Nails?
Male show runners love an age gap. I’m still salty they didn’t just give Miguel someone his age instead of someone as young as Emily. Danny Pino deserved better. I don’t know why they gave Hank that weak storyline of falling for a girl young enough to be his granddaughter. They should have given him an old lady his age. If you want to know what I miss about SOA…all the old heads had old ladies their age. Some Gemma’s and Luann’s would have sprinkled in our weekly spice of drama. You caught a glimpse of it with the shitstorms Dita was able to stir when she was alive. We needed some legit old ladies to save this plot man
4. Am I the only one who feels we were pitched an entirely different show than what we got?
I hate when shows deviate from the original plan. I came to Mayans the second I saw they added Danny Pino. Seeing him play detectives half his career let me know he was going to serve as Galindo (and he did all of season 1). Can’t believe this Danny Pino opportunity was wasted like that. I came for the deadly Galindo Cartel and poor writing served a half baked drug king pin and a MC that can’t get shit done because they spend all their time focusing on personal shit instead of securing the bag. For an MC that strives solely on the Galindo transactions, I didn’t see a brick of coke more than twice the entire three seasons I watched. Elgin tried to turn the Mayans plot into something poetic. Sir. People don’t watch shows like SOA for half baked poetry. We want you to stick to the outlaw shit. That other stuff?
