Unexpectedly, the Ahsoka series (so far) is actually working very nicely into my Lab Rats universe/Star Wars crossover AU.
I wonder if the show will connect the Nightsisters’ worship of the Winged Goddess and Fanged God to Ahsoka’s experiences on Mortis, because I absolutely will be in my AUs (though addressing it earlier in the timeline).
I had already created a nightsister, Arjav Venul (not apart of Talzin’s clan), who left Dathomir after her brother had visions of the gods’ death, searching for answers, and now that the nightsisters are being connected to intergalactic space travel, I might use her to bring Ahsoka into the Milky Way.

I had originally thought that if we got live-action Siege of Mandalore (or early exile years) Ahsoka, I’d make a new Chase/Ahsoka crossover icon. However, the Siege of Mandalore clips that we got aren’t usable (her lekku are far too short, and the actress, who was no more than fifteen when filming, doesn’t pass for a seventeen-year-old). The early Clone Wars flashback was good though. So, I made a couple of Ahsoka/Chase collages with their fourteen-year-old selves. I’m not gonna replace my icon with one of these, the AU I’m working on doesn’t even have them meet till Bionic Island/just after Order 66, but I still wanted to make them.

Rafa: You better keep your friend Kaz away from Trace, because if he keeps flirting with my sister, I swear I'm gonna kill him!
Chase: ...
Ahsoka: ...
Chase: Well, there are pros and cons to either outcome...
Ahsoka: If you do decide to kill him, let us know. Skylar will want a picture for her Elite Force scrapbook.

It’s a lot of things.
It’s staring out at a city skyline that keeps reminding her of Coruscant despite how different it is. It’s having another girl her age that’s so excited to be her friend. It’s waking up Kaz in the middle of the night because she’s found Oliver crying in the bathroom again, and she knows it’s his best friend that he needs the most. It’s doing everything she can to avoid sleeping, afraid of what she’ll see, what she’ll remember, when she closes her eyes. It’s spending long hours meditating instead, with someone who needs the silence that his computerized mind can never find.
It’s checking over the superhero list again, before Skylar’s anxiety jumps down both their throats, and feeling guilty that she’s doing so much to help them, and not her own people (does that even include surviving jedi, or had the clones already become her people first, even before she left the Order?).
It’s Chase asking her, “Why can’t we do both?”, as though he’s just been waiting these past couple months for her to bring it up. He probably was.
It’s all of these overwhelming things that are causing her hand to shake, as she finally contacts Rex.
__________________________
She still hesitates, sometimes, to take hold of his hand. He’s told her it’s fine, and constantly reaches for her own; it’s not going to trigger his super senses or a glitch. She knows, but she also remembers somehow managing to grab his hand in just the wrong way one day; the tip of the flash drive imbedded in his finger breaking haphazardly through the skin.
He tells her that she won’t hurt him, but she can’t quite wrap her head around that. All she knows is war. She’s wondered (frequently, after the tragedy of the Resolute) if she’s really capable of anything other than hurting and killing.
She doesn’t know. Only knows that when her mind drifts that way, it’s too hazy to think straight, to even properly remember her own thoughts.
She takes hold of his hand, and lets herself relax as their fingers intertwine. Allows herself a small smile, that no one else can see under the shadow of her hooded cloak.
A light rain begins to fall on the platform, warm, pleasant. The sounds of Daiyu’s nightlife continuing to rise around them. Ahsoka takes a deep, calming breath. They need to be alert, they are alert, but she’s here, with Chase by her side, about to reunite with one of her dearest friends. She can allow herself to be hopeful.

06 ABY (2040)
“It’s not fair.”
Chase tries to hide his amused smile as he turns to face his pouting daughter. “What isn’t fair?”
“That Atarka gets to go on the Balazar mission but I can’t."
“She’s a knight. You’re still a student, and students aren’t allowed on high-risk missions.”
Rexanne crosses her arms. Blue eyes glaring from behind her haphazardly chopped bangs, the rest of her white and grey-blue streaked hair just brushing the black and red shoulders of her uniform. “I’m at the advanced level. If it weren’t for my age, I could already be a knight.”
“You only moved up to the advanced level last month. You still have a little more to learn before being the equivalent of a knight.”
“And when I reach that equivalent, you’ll make me a knight?”
“If by then, you’ve turned eighteen. If not, you’ll remain a student until you do.”
“But that’s four years.”
“There’s a lot you can learn in four years.”
She protests. “But if I don’t go on any high-risk missions, how am I supposed learn how to survive them?”
“With the simulator, and every other aspect of your training that I, your mom, your Uncle Leo, and many others painstakingly designed and constantly update to make sure every student is prepared to face whatever may come their way.”
“It’s not the same. Besides, you and mom were both handling missions at fourteen that you would now classify as high-risk.”
“And we, each respectively, barely made it to seventeen.”
Rexanne rolls her eyes. “You’re just being overprotective.”
Chase breathes in, and lays a hand on her shoulder. “When I was your age, it was my responsibility to sacrifice my life, if necessary, to save others. And I’m not willing to put that expectation on you, or any other fourteen-year-old, or Calderan or other alien biological equivalent to that age. I don’t want you finish your childhood with that duty haunting you.”
___________________________
Circa 11 ABY (2045)
Rexanne leans against the cliff wall, barely noticing the jagged edges of the rock digging into her shoulder blade. She glances down, and takes a breath before strengthening her grip under her mother’s arms and pulling her a little further up her lap, a little farther from the water still washing over her legs. She lays two fingers on Ahsoka’s neck, feeling the faint, but steady, thrum of her pulse.
The young woman allows herself to relax, listening the roar of x-wing engines, sensing the wills of those only seeking to offer aid, looking up at the blue of the sky, out to the blue of the water, waves crashing up on the rocky shore, splashing the blue and black of her knight uniform, remembering the blue glow of the strange inter-dimensional place that turned to a fiery haze of her mother’s memories. Haunted by the ghost of a master reteaching his old padawan to live or die, because those were the only two possibilities on a battlefield.
The kind of teacher her parents hadn’t wanted to be to their children until they had left childhood behind.
____________________________
She waits beside her mother’s bed. Head bowed slightly, quieting her usually turbulent mind.
Her eyes flicker over to the open door.
“You know, it’s not polite to lurk.”
A small green-haired head pops shyly into view. “Sorry, my mom doesn’t know I’m here.”
Rexanne smiles. “Somehow, I’m pretty sure she does.”
The boy (Jacen, is it? Her mom did tell her his name at some point) shrugs sheepishly, but doesn’t comment, curiosity soon lighting up his expression as his eyes savor the room.
His gaze settles on the hilt of one of Rexanne’s lightsabers. “You’re a jedi!”
She shakes her head slightly. “No. I was trained under a different order.”
Jacen furrows his brow. “But your mom’s a jedi.”
“She was raised a jedi, but she left the Order a long time ago. Long before either of us were born.”
The boy crosses his arms. “Okay, but that still makes her basically a jedi. At least that’s what my mom says. And Chopper. And Aunt Sabine. And everyone else, really.”
“That’s all they know, so naturally that’s all they see her as. That doesn’t mean it’s the most accurate perspective.”
Jacen frowns. “Well, I wanna be a jedi.”
Rexanne smiles, amused. “I think that’s something you’d have to talk to Luke Skywalker about.”
“I know. He’s starting a Jedi Academy. My mom won’t let me go, though. She says I’m too young. But I’m ten years old! Jedi of the Old Republic would’ve started their training at like four. I’m brave enough too. I wanna save lives just like my dad.”
Just as a child always desires to be like their parents.
“Training young isn’t a bad thing, I did. But you have to respect whatever your mom decides.”
“But I can do it! I know I can.”
“And I’m sure she knows you can too. It’s not about your abilities. It’s your mom’s responsibility to protect and raise you, because when you’re a child you’re not supposed to be doing that yourself. And one day, when you’ve grown up, you’ll do the same for your own children, or student, or whoever will be yours to care for.”
Jacen frowns. “That’s a long time to wait.”
Yes. “It is. But there are many things to learn while you wait.”

More crossover AU & Ahsoka/Chase thoughts:
Kaz (even before Chase himself) is the first one to realize there's something going on between Ahsoka and Chase, but he keeps it to himself because he finds the whole Oliver jealousy situation entertaining. Douglas, upon his first visit, is the second.
Ahsoka had been involved in helping Chase design the mission suit prototypes before Douglas arrived. And I swear if there is anything about canon that I want to change more in this AU, Ahsoka prevents Douglas from making the stupid high heels decision.
Ahsoka is Chase's first kiss. He confesses this accidentally.
Ahsoka and Skylar have a strained, but improving relationship. Ahsoka spent a few months at Mighty Med (post Order 66) before the Elite Force. As Skylar tended to back then, she disliked that other heroes treated Ahsoka as one of them, even though she wasn't a superhero (which also made Ahsoka uncomfortable. She didn't come to play hero, just to stay out of the Empire's reach). Skylar was very vocal about the fact Ahsoka didn't belong there. Ahsoka, on the other hand, couldn't reconcile Skylar's hero morals with the fact that she, and her species as a whole, keep sentient being as pets. The former jedi (as she should) can only see that as slavery. She accused Skylar of being a hypocrite, which certainly didn't help the Calderan's resentment of her.
Despite their contentions, after the destruction of Mighty Med, Skylar and Ahsoka mostly have a civil, tolerant relationship. Bree is essentially their common denominator. Bree considers Skylar and Ahsoka to both be her best friends, and they consider her to be their best friend, but they aren't close friends with each other.
Junk Food Fiend vs Health Food Nut Ahsoka/Chase dynamic; Ahsoka will, in fact, be devouring that entire bag of Doritos in one sitting. She did not purchase to share. Meanwhile, as we expect, Chase analyzes the nutritional content of every meal he makes.
Ahsoka HATES that her fangs were removed in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Also that the tube top outfit bad fashion choice that she only actually wore for a month, tops, was used for two-and-a-half seasons). The animated show stuck with the accurate dialogue and plot from Ambrose's comics; Why did they have to change those little details? She does love that she was finally able to find out what trouble Obi-Wan caused on Mandalore.
I think in this AU, the entire Star Wars media in terms of movies and shows are animated, though not necessarily all the same style of animation. (As I want to keep most live-action appearances as their true actual appearances. Plus animation supremacy).

I cannot tell you how much I love your ahsoka x chase ship.
How did you come up with it? (Did I ask you that before?)
Do you have any other lab rats x star wars ships?
It came to mind a few years ago (maybe 2017 or 2018, I don't really remember), back when I was just a silent, lurking fan (my parents didn't allow me to have any social media accounts as a minor, so I just engaged with fan content as a guest and never posted anything I wrote). I've always been obsessed with crossovers; before I got on tumblr and had an audience to keep in mind, 90% of anything I wrote, or even just imagined, were crossovers. Lab Rats and Star Wars (Prequels/Clone Wars Era) were my favorite sci-fi fandoms, and I really enjoyed the idea of the Star Wars universe reacting to the bionic technology of Lab Rats.
I was playing with a story where Chase ended up stranded in the Star Wars galaxy, and had to stick it out with Anakin, Rex, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, and Co. until he managed to find/invent a way to get back home. I don't remember the details, but I was imagining the final goodbye scene, and when it came to Ahsoka's farewell it just, idk, clicked? Like I just realized there was little spark of potential chemistry I had never considered before.
And that plot bunny, though it has drastically evolved since then, waged war and fortified itself permanently in my brain. The brain rot is eternal.
I don't have any other Star Wars/Lab Rats crossover pairings that I'm 100% on board with (at least when it comes to canon characters, I have a Captain Atomic/Star Wars OC that's becoming essential to my AU worldbuilding). I am entertaining the idea of Kaz/Trace Martez; there's some cute potential there and I want to play with that idea. I also have some interest in Bree Davenport/Korkie Kryze, but I'm really conflicted when it comes to choosing who to ship Bree with.

OC's for my Lab Rats/Star Wars crossover AU.
I don't know how much of the Ahsoka series I'm going to incorporate into this crossover AU, but the time period is on my mind so I am playing around with some of my less developed ideas.
I have several OC's I've created for this AU (a nightsister, Ahsoka's little sister, etc.), but since the Ahsoka/Chase ship is what started this particular crossover AU for me, I decided to sketch their two daughters. (As what they would look like in 9 ABY)
More info below
On the left is Atarka Tano-Davenport, (21 yrs old in 9 ABY). Growing up with a father who cracked age-reversal at eighteen and a mother with the partial soul of a Mortis celestial, Atarka has always been fascinated with the nature of life itself. Both from the scientific point of view in biology and genetics, as well as the force. She's quickly becoming the Darth Plagueis of her generation, only as a light-sider (for now). A perfectionist like Chase, with Ahsoka's intuitive nature, she also has obsessive, tunnel-vision tendencies almost reminiscent of Douglas Davenport. She wields a yellow saber-staff powered by lava crystals (there is a pragmatic reason for this, I just don't feel like explaining it here).
On the right is Rexanne Tano-Davenport (17 yrs old in 9 ABY), obviously named after Ahsoka's brother-in-arms. Although she is also a powerful force-sensitive, she doesn't have the same fixations as her sister. She views the force as a tool, a powerful one certainly, but like any other tool or superpower, is dangerous to become reliant upon. Rexanne is extremely pragmatic, interested more in combat, dueling, and technology than the secrets of the force. This is partly influenced by an incident when she was younger, when she survived a surprise attack by Calderans, leaving her with severe enough injuries that Chase had use bionic technology to save her life (haven't decided on what bionic abilities she might have). She wields a pair of curved dueling lightsabers powered by synthetic crystals.
These are just rough ideas, a lot may end up changing before I eventually put them in a fic.

Synopsis:
She didn't intend to fall in love with him.
Well, maybe she did, but in her defense, she used to be Anakin's padawan. And his life experiences are not always the wisest to follow.
______________________
Ahsoka Tano. Jedi Padawan. Commander in the Grand Army of the Republic.
Fulcrum. The superhero that isn’t really one of their kind. A vagabond who tried to keep her eyes ahead and not on her past, not on the family she left behind.
Ahsoka Tano. Member of Davenport Industries’ Elite Force. The only real loyalty bound to a desire to do some good, rather than the lofty ideals Skylar Storm aspires to, the superhero code of their order that’s shattering from within.
Ahsoka is tired of codes.
Funny thing is, so is he.
_________________________________
She remembers the day they met. The day she had reluctantly agreed to aid Tecton in his mission to track down the Incapacitator.
She had sensed that Tecton’s assumptions were off. That the emotions of the teens interrogating Kaz and Oliver were just as defensive and confused as their own. Emotions not consistent with being henchmen of the Incapacitator, who had always been known to work alone anyways.
But Tecton didn’t give her a chance to voice her concerns, singularly focused on his task, making the first move before she could get a word in edgewise. Launching himself at Adam, grappling strength against strength. Bree went after Gamma Girl.
And Chase, whom she had already deduced to be their leader dove underneath Granite’s spear and brought the hero to the ground. He held out his arm, his laser bo manifesting in his hand.
Ahsoka ignited her own lightsabers, and launched herself at him.
He parried the blow, managing to keep up with her attacks. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Gamma Girl go down, Tecton following. She flipped backward, using a force push to send her opponent flying into the next room.
She barely turned her back when her lightsabers are torn from her hands. She looked back in disbelief as Chase grabbed them out of the air.
Before she could regroup, an alert blared, and a man appeared on the screen imbedded into the wall, crying for help.
And the truth was finally established, their opponents not the foes Tecton had assumed.
She walked back over to him then, holding out her hand. “My lightsabers.”
He hesitated before his gloved hand placed them in her palm. She clipped them back onto her belt, vaguely aware of the other bionic teens chattering excitedly to the superheroes.
“You’re a formidable opponent,” he complimented.
“So are you,” she replied.
And she knew then, even if only mildly, she was intrigued.
___________________________________
That interest was simmering in the back of her mind when Mr. Davenport introduced the team to each other. And while Chase seemed weirded out to be getting involved with superheroes and aliens, he also had no trouble adapting to the hazards it presented.
After Skylar’s rescue, she decides to tease him about it, challenge his stance a little. See if maybe she had misread him during their brief conversations at Mighty Med.
“C’mon, Genius. Are you really disappointed to be working with me?”
And she had meant that to refer to her combat skills that he’d dueled against, to the mutual respect that had been established in that moment. But now that she’s heard it come out of her mouth it sounds more flirtatious. Too forward.
With the way he’s looking at her, it seems he’s trying to decipher her intentions too. He eventually answers, “No. I’d be an idiot to.”
“Good” she smirks. “Because otherwise, I’d have to remind you.”
___________________________________
If she’s honest with herself, she wouldn’t be able to answer whether spending so much time with him was intentional or accidental. She does know that she enjoys it: the meditating, sparring, designing the mission suit prototypes and building things. It’s nostalgic, working with mechanics, she learned everything from Anakin. It’s nostalgic for him too, remembering his father, remembering Leo. And it feels so fragile, sharing all these memories.
And fragile and relatively new as their kinship might be, she knows she wants him. She wants his hazel eyes, to run her fingers through his short, spiky hair. She wants his goofy smile and strategic mind.
She wants him to be hers, because he already feels like her best friend, and they have the potential to be more, to be lovers.
And the potential to be powerful as well.
___________________________________
She gets an inkling of how dangerous he is, of how really dangerous he could be, the day he accomplishes what the superhero world spent millennia trying to understand.
She doesn’t even think he understands the gravity of what he’s done, getting Skylar Storm’s powers back. What this means to the culture that’s crumbling, to their enemies, should this become known.
She knows that not being a true superhero had been her own advantage when thriving in this chaos before, what caused the name of Fulcrum to be respected and feared.
And resented.
His advantage is clear, and she can’t ever be more glad than now, in this moment, that she had convinced Kaz and Oliver to seek help from Mr. Davenport after Mighty Med’s destruction. Despite Skylar’s severe reluctance.
And yet what seems so plain to her military-trained mind, is ultimately lost on the rest of the team. They steadily push him to the side, diminished. And she’s concerned, for him yes, but also for the team. Have they forgotten who they’re up against? Have they forgotten the infrastructure of the superhero world has collapsed? The Elite Force needs its structure, the strength of all its members, or they’ll never survive.
But ever since Skylar regained her powers, Ahsoka’s own voice has lost the weight it once carried. And slowly, whether she’s spending time with them or him, she finds herself becoming invisible, forgotten.
It’s a different kind of pain, not one she’s used to. Not like her identity’s fading; she lost that long ago. Rather it’s a kind of fear, that no matter where she roamed, the Jedi Order would be only place where she could feel loved.
And returning after Caldera, that nearly solidifies the fear into a belief. An unwanted conviction climbing around her throat and blinding her eyes.
Blind, yes, that’s what crying feels like. Pain blurring what precious little sight one has left.
She doesn’t expect him to leave them and come looking for her. To find her, but she tries hard to dry her eyes once she senses him, though she knows that won’t hide everything.
“Are you okay?” he asks.
She frowns, shrugs, uncertain if she should just keep her feelings to herself. Skylar is his friend after all, and she doesn’t want to ruin that. But the gentle way he’s looking at her…she needs someone she can be honest with. She hasn’t had that in so long.
“It’s just…hard. Watching Skylar be welcomed as a member of a family after her home’s been destroyed. When I lost the Jedi Order and came back to Mighty Med…I didn’t get that welcome. Skylar especially made it very clear that I didn’t belong.” She shrugs. “But I didn’t have anywhere else to go, so I stayed anyways.” She sighs.
He’s silent for a moment. “Do you not think of this as home?”
“Do you?” she counters.
He holds her gaze, then huffs a humorless laugh. “I get what you mean.” And leans back against the wall, shakes his head almost imperceptibly. “No, I can’t think of this as a home.” He takes a breath, “And that may not be something either of us can change. But,” and his eyes have found hers again, “until they wake up and realize how much they need you, I’ll be here. I’ll do my best to be whatever you need me to be.”
She smiles. “Thank you,” she says softly. “If you ever need someone to talk to…”
“I’ll know where to look,” he finishes.
________________________________
She knows what he thinks about two members dating, that it would ruin the whole dynamic. And she knows the risk it poses to any friendship, that taking it to something more may mean the former could never be reclaimed.
Only she’s never been good at following the rules. Call it consequences of Anakin’s example or simply willful ignorance, it’s been a part of her character for a considerable while.
It shouldn’t matter anyways when Oliver and Skylar are upstairs, on the balcony, enjoying a date. The boundaries have already been bent, so why shouldn’t she break them?
“You know, when I agreed to help you with your shape-shifting serum, I didn’t expect that to entail digging in the dirt for…” she holds up one of the squirmy creatures in question, “what is it you called them, earthworms?”
Chase drops another into the jar. “I didn’t expect it’d bother you.”
“It doesn’t.” She shrugs. “I’ve watched Anakin eat worse.”
He makes a face. “You know, I think your mentor might’ve been even weirder than mine.”
“Compared to your father or Douglas?”
He considers. “Possibly both.”
She chuckles at that, placing two more earthworms in with the others. “You think that’s enough? You only made like five vials of that serum.”
“Seven,” he corrects. “And yeah, that’s enough.”
They stand up, Ahsoka dusting the dirt off her hands. “You know if this serum works, we’ll be able to end this genocide before it really begin.”
“I know. The next time they shape-shift into any non-human form, they’ll be unable to transform back. We’ll just need to figure out a way to inject them with the serum.”
“I don’t think it’ll be too difficult to deceive them,” she muses. “They’ll expect us to fight them the way superheroes always do, power clashing against power…Just let me handle that part of the equation and I’ll make sure Roman and Riker are too busy to even see the needle.”
“I take it you’re used to rushing into things,” he teases.
“Not always,” she responds. “I value a good strategic plan…but one also has to be adaptable.”
“I see your point,” he acquiesces.
And she studies him, tilting her head. “I’m not sure you do.”
His brow furrows. “I’m pretty sure I understood…”
“Really?” She smirks, stepping closer.
“Well, are you going to explain it to me then?”
And she takes that moment, that risk, in closing the distance and kissing his lips. She pulls away to find his face flushed crimson. “That…was not what I was expecting,” he stammers out, “But I can say that I absolutely agree with your point now.”
She smiles, and takes a hold of his hand as they walk back down the tunnels to Mission Command.
She knows the road ahead of them is dark, and will likely lead to unexpected places.
But she realizes that it’s done that already.

Chapter 13
For once, she just enjoys the silence.
The Davenport Industries space craft has a far more spacious cockpit than she’s used to, and such a wider view of the stars glittering before them. She leans back in her chair, allows her eyes to drift closed.
She hears Chase sit down beside her, “So where are we going?” he asks.
“I already input the coordinates.”
There’s a series soft pings of buttons being tapped. “This planet isn’t even listed on the Mighty Med database.”
“I’ve been there before, though briefly,” she reassures, still keeping her eyes firmly closed.
“Why are we going there?” he inquires, curious.
“Because I need to,” she answers vaguely, allowing herself to drift momentarily off to sleep.
__________________________
The surface of the small planet is a deep, dull grey. Every inch is covered in rock and thin layers of soot-like sand which is blown around by the high winds. There’s no civilizations, no inhabitants, no life to be found on any inch of it.
The atmosphere, surprisingly, is breathable, if thin. They land where she instructs, at the mouth of a towering cavern.
He follows her tentatively down the ramp. She’s had yet to say anything about their purpose here, or about anything at all.
The winds tear across his face, and Chase is careful to shield his eyes from the stinging sand. Ahead, Ahsoka pulls the hood of her cloak closer around her face.
They enter the cavern, and it is truly a magnificent wonder of nature. The walls are much lighter in color than the outside, and the ceiling climbs at least fifty feet into the air. Stalagtites and stalagmites ordain the room like the columns of an ancient royal hall. Ahead, towards the back, the cavern splits into five narrow tunnels.
“This planet is strong in the force,” Ahsoka begins, though she doesn’t turn around to face him. “The Jedi use places like this as the sites for their most sacred rite, of earning a crystal for their first lightsaber.” She glances back at Chase. “When Korkie is ready, I will bring him here for that very purpose, even though neither of us are Jedi.” She takes a breath, “But that’s not the event I saw on this planet in my visions, and it’s not the reason I needed to come here now.”
He nods, because even though he’s not force-sensitive, and he doesn’t understand much of anything about the force, he’s guessed her purpose. “You’re going to build a new shoto.”
“Yes,” she breathes. And the longer she stands here the more certain she is this is the time to fulfill that part of her vision.

There’s a million things he could be doing on this ship while he waits for Ahsoka. But at the moment, none of them seem appealing.
A flashing light on the dashboard catches his attention. He frowns.
He waits a good fives minutes before deciding to accept the transmission.
“Skylar,” he greets, though his tone isn’t overly friendly. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing, honestly. I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
“Ahsoka and I are fine.”
He hears her sigh. “Look, about what happened with the whole magnetism app thing…”
“I really don’t want to talk about that.”
She goes quiet. “Douglas thinks you left early because you’re upset with him…and us,” she adds.
“Do you think that’s why we left early?”
She doesn’t answer.
He sighs. “Ahsoka needed to stop by another system before we meet up with Korkie. I’ll contact you again once we’re back in route to Earth.” And he ends the transmission before she can respond.

She holds the violet crystal in her hands, still trembling. She closes her fingers around it, feels the sharp edges bite into her palm.
The visions one was supposed to receive were supposed to be illuminated at the end of the path, tests for the seeker to pass.
She’s found what she was looking for, but doesn’t understand what this place was trying to tell her. But if she’s given the crystal she seeks, then shouldn’t the conclusion be that she’s not supposed to know just yet?.
Or she knows, if she would only admit why she decided to come to this place now.
Would that admission be one she could make? That she’s allowing herself to wield a second blade again because she’s done paying her penance?
Is she throwing away the guilt she’s shouldered for so long? Ever since she was expelled from the Jedi Order, when she looked up into the faces of her masters and realized they believed her capable of doing something like this. It didn’t matter that her innocence was proved; there must have something monstrous inside her, otherwise they would not have ever believed she was guilty.
And if she was dark, then what better role to play than that of a superhero, one halfway between monster and hero?
But jedi or superhero, peacekeeper or hellion, neither was enough to prevent the tragedy following Mandalore, or the destruction of Mighty Med. And somewhere down the line, she became convinced it was all on her head.
She joined the Elite Force because it felt like such a natural next step, an escape from her mourning, penance for all her failures. Reuniting with a friend and an ally she knew she could trust.
And though she had suppressed all her visions away, until she reminded so abruptly yesterday, that their future will lead them away from those loyalties. Of that, she is certain.
But whether into darkness or light, that she cannot tell.

Chapter 12
Just when he feels he’s in control that assurance is torn from his grip.
He bites the inside of his cheek so hard it bleeds, the taste of copper overwhelming ever other sense, dulling for a moment his anxious frustration.
Isn’t it ironic that the man who once gave such a long speech about understanding what it’s like to be overlooked, kicked around, would become someone who constantly tore him down?
His phone buzzes. He picks up. “Hello.”
Ahsoka’s voice comes from the other end. “Bo-Katan can’t make the rendezvouz.”
“What happened?”
“Not sure. She just muttered something in mando’a about imperial bastards. We’re postponing till five days from now.”
Chase eyes the small intruder strutting about Mission Command. “Alright. Just keep me updated.”
At least that gives him more time to deal with this ridiculous situation.
It’s only later that he realizes if he weren’t trying so hard not to think about certain things, he wouldn’t have left himself so vulnerable; he wouldn’t be in this position.
The toolbox slams into his stomach with such force he feels suddenly nauseous.
“Douglas, what’s going on?” he asks, panicked.
“When AJ hacked into your chip, he must have triggered a glitch. Your magnetism app is going haywire!”
___________________
She can sense his anxiety well before she enters the hyper lift. She’s not entirely surprised. Douglas had returned only this morning.
Whatever she’s expecting, it isn’t this.
Chase stands in the middle of Mission Command with tools and appliances stuck to his body.
“What the kark is going on?” Ahsoka asks.
“Chase’s magnestism app is glitching. It’s attracting every metal object to his body and it’s only getting stronger,” Douglas explains, and she can hear the fear growing in his voice.
“What do you mean? How much stronger can it get?” And she feels her own emotions beginning to heighten.
The cyber desk begins to shake, and the trembling grows to include every wall.
“That much stronger,” Douglas replies. “This entire room is reinforced with steel, we need to get Chase upstairs.
_____________________
By the time the hyper lift doors open, she can hear the sound her heart pounding in her chest.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Kaz asks.
“And who’s the kid?” Bree interjects.
“AJ, Lives downstairs, tapped into Chase’s chip and now his magnetism app is glitching and causing everything made of metal to fly towards him. Tragic, but hysterical.”
Chase turns to look at him.
“Or maybe just hysterical,” Kaz laughs.
Ahsoka clenches her jaw. “Douglas needs to find a way to fix the glitch…
“And in the meantime, I need you all to use your powers to protect Chase from all the heavy objects,” Douglas finishes, eyeing a toaster as it flies off the table, only stopped by Ahsoka catching it in mid air.
“Yeah, we can’t really do that.”
“Why not!” Douglas protests as Ahsoka narrows her eyes.
“Well, you see we’re having this contest. Guys versus girls, who can go longest without using their powers for trivial things…” Kaz explains.
“Clearly my life is not a trivial thing!” Chase yells.
“Are we sure?” Bree jokes.
“I think we should take a vote,” replies Oliver.
And Ahsoka can’t stand it.
She sends the toaster off the edge of the balcony with the force. Dropping her hands by her side as other metal objects in the room begin to quiver. “Are you being fucking serious right now?” she growls.
And she can see in their eyes that they can all sense the shift in power that’s come over the air.
There’s a statue and a half a dozen things that come flying all at once. They stop, hovering in the air just a foot from her and Chase, and they crumple like foil.
There’s a rumbling as more things come sailing through the air. She’s ignited her lightsaber now, increasing many items upon her blade, and trying to repel the rest with the force.
She turns to Douglas, who’s standing with his mouth agape. She sends a fork whizzing past his ear. “Fix this,” she demands, and that seems to span him from his trance.
“Alright,” he says “I need someone to get Chase’s capsule. If we can get him inside, that should recalibrate his chip and fix the glitch.”
The other team members seem to have come to their senses. Oliver and Bree rush upstairs to retrieve his capsule while Kaz and Skylar aid in protecting Chase.
Ahsoka’s movements seem almost demonic as she tries to keep up a barrier around Chase.
It’s not quite enough.
She barely even registers that something got past her, doesn’t begin to worry until she hears him hiss, turns around momentarily to realize he’s managed to move one arm enough to clutch at his side.
He’s wrapped a hand around the hilt of a kitchen knife that’s buried in his abdomen.
Later, Kaz and Skylar will say the first thing they heard was the breaking of glass, and then of being knocked off their feet and landing face first on the floor. They’ll say they only heard the rest of the destruction.
She doesn’t realize the force of the power she’s released. She doesn’t realize she’s shattered every window and torn through the walls, sending every object near out of the building.
She’s only focused on the amount of blood that’s soaking the floor.
They haven’t noticed. Douglas and Oliver place Chase in his capsule so quickly they don’t have a chance to. They don’t register what’s wrong until the metal objects fall away and he slumps against the wall of his capsule.
She doesn’t give them time to figure out what to do. She’s already kneeling by his side, placing a hand over the wound and pouring what strength she has left into him. She hears Douglas yelling just over her shoulder, but the words are blurred. She drowns them out, focusing on drawing the tissues back together, of replenishing the blood lost in those few minutes.
When she’s finished, she leans back on her heels, slightly dizzy , a headache forming just above her eyes. She turns to see Douglas standing behind her, expression on of shock. “You…”
“I healed him,” she finishes, and realizes how cold her voice sounds when Bree flinches at her tone.
________________________
He looks up to see her standing in the doorway, rapping a knuckle on the open door.
“Come in,” he says, and a small smile flickers over his features.
“How are you feeling?” Ahsoka asks, her voice soft.
“Fine, thanks to you,” he responds. “I only came up here to avoid the others,” he admits. “What about you?”
“A five hour nap later and the headache’s gone,” she replies.
“Good, and thank you.” He smiles. “You’ve saved my life once again.”
“Well, I had to even it out after that sniper on Mandalore,” she reasons, coming farther into the room. “You know,” she begins, shifting the topic, “I was thinking we could leave early for Raxtuvin. There’s a planet I wanted to stop by on the way and…and I think it’d be nice to get some distance from here for awhile.”
“I can be packed and have the ship ready in two hours,” Chase replies readily, and in the back of his mind the words he’d been trying to suppress all day come flooding back.
When are you going to stop running away when you need to feel free?  How will you ever break your chains if you don’t allow your family to see who you really are?
Don’t you want to feel their fear when they make you hurt?
And he can still see the way Maul’s face seemed so sincere as he tore through all of Chase’s darkest desires.

Chapter 11
Maybe it isn’t a complete disaster. Though Chase never revoked what he said, he seems calmer, in control, and still behaves with the authority he held before.
“I’m sorry, Skylar. But no meeting up with superheroes. We never know who’s watching, and we can’t take the risk of exposing their true identity.”
“But Crossbow’s in danger,” Skylar argues.
“Every hero is in danger. That’s why using the network is the safest option. We can get the word out to everyone at once, and then confirm when they receive it.”
“Okay, I guess then I won’t get to see my friend.” She turns to the bionic girl beside her. “But at least I still have you, right Bree?”
“Not even close,” is Bree’s response as she exits the room.
Skylar follows, while Oliver and Kaz leave through the hyper lift.
Ahsoka stands, walks over to Chase who’s started working on something else on the cyber desk. “Look, I shouldn’t have blown up at you yesterday…”
“No,” Chase cuts her off. “You were completely right. I let my emotions override my judgment and you made me realize that. I should have talked to you before making that decision, and that was my mistake. I’m sorry.”
“Just…don’t shut me out again, okay? We need to trust each other if we’re going to get through this.”
He nods, “I know.”
_____________________
When they accessed the encrypted superhero network, she never expected it would lead to someone contacting her.
She stares at the message. She doesn’t bother trying to figure out how Bo-Katan managed to access the network; the Mandalorian has always been skilled at building underworld connections.
[I can’t go back] is what she sends.
[That’s not what I’m asking] is the response.
Ahsoka swallows, pacing a few steps before she sends the next message.
[Then what do you want?]
She waits, tapping the edge of the desk.
[Do you remember Korkie?]
[Satine’s nephew, right?]
[Yes, but he’s actually her son.]
Ahsoka’s fingers hover over the screen.
[What do you want from me?]
[He’s not safe here. And his father won’t help him.]
It takes a moment for the realization to dawn upon her.
[He already has one force sensitive under his care, he won’t care another. Korkie needs training.] Bo-Katan continues.
[I’m not a jedi]
[And he’s a Mandalorian]
Ahsoka takes a breath.
[Where I am isn’t safe]
[He’s not a child, he’s a Mandalorian warrior. And anywhere the Empire can’t reach is safe enough.]
[I’ll have to discuss it with our team leader. I’ll contact you again in six hours]
[I await your transmission]
___________________________
“Chase, I need to talk to you…” she trails off, fixated on Kaz standing across the room.
There’s something decidedly wrong about him.
“He’s probably just mad we took away his dolls,” Bree teases as Chase begins unlocking the cyber desk.
“What does that even mean?” Kaz asks.
“The dolls, the ones you were just playing with earlier” Bree explains, confused.
Kaz looks back and forth, studying their expressions. “Oh, right. Yeah, those were really special to me.”
Now Chase and Bree tense, and Ahsoka strides more purposely near them.
“Kaz,” Chase begins, “what do those dolls look like?”
They’re all moving forward, back Kaz closer against the wall.
“Who are you?” Bree demands, and all three of them prepare for a fight.
The imposter shape shifts in Riker. He stalks forward, but she can sense an undercurrent of fear about him too. “I’m taking that list. Question is, how much I have to hurt you to get it.”
Ahsoka allows herself to smirk, because she knows this time they’re not overestimating their abilities.
______________________
It’s only the three of them, Chase, Bree, and her, that know they have a fake list prepared.
She sees the flaw of that too late.
The superhero Skylar snuck out to save ends up being Roman and Riker’s first casualty isn this new phase of terror.
Oliver and Kaz have an idea to save her, but she’s been dead too long by then, and they can’t get her heart beating again.
The night ends with Chase and Oliver burying the body out beyond the outskirts of the city, wearing cyber cloaks just to be safe.
She hopes Roman and Riker will at least leave her body undisturbed.
_______________________
She knows this meeting isn’t going to be about what the rest of the team expects it too.
“We’re adding a new member to the team,” Chase announces.
“What? Who?” Bree asks, shocked.
“His name is Korkie Kryze. He’s an old friend of Ahsoka’s.”
“A Mandalorian warrior who’s been training the past two years,” Ahsoka explains. “And a force-sensitive. Meaning he has the same ‘mystic powers’, as you call them, as me, though he hasn’t learned how to control them yet.”
“And you’re sure we can trust him?” Oliver inquires.
Ahsoka nods. “The only reason they knew to reach out this far in the galaxy was because of me. They don’t even know Rodissius or his children, much less have any loyalties to them.”
“In two days, Ahsoka and I will be taking a ship to meet him on Raxtuvin. We should return early the next morning.”
________________________
He didn’t expect to find Skylar down here in the tunnels. And he definitely didn’t expect to see tears sliding down her cheeks.
“It’s all my fault,” she whispers.
“What is?”
“All of it. Crossbow’s death, almost losing the list…” she brings up a hand to dry her eye. “I thought when you brought back my powers I would finally be able to be a hero again, but all I’ve managed to be is less of one.” She looks down at the ground. “I’m a liability to the team,” she admits, “I can’t blame you for replacing me.”
“Korkie isn’t coming here to replace you.”
She looks up, confused. “I thought it was implied. Not that you were kicking me off the team, but that you got someone else so you didn’t have to rely on me.”
Chase sits down next to her. “That’s not why Korkie is coming here. He’s been on the run, recently discovering his abilities in the force with no one to train him…Ahsoka was the last ally he could turn to for help.”
“Really?”
He nods.
Skylar seems to relax. “I must have sounded like such an idiot to jump to the conclusions I did.”
“You’re not an idiot.” Chase takes a breath. “And yes, you made a mistake. And you’ll have to live with those consequences. But you can’t let that guilt prevent you from doing your duty.”
Skylar nods. “Thank you,” she whispers.
And she doesn’t know how similar those words are to ones Ahsoka told to Chase three years ago.

Just a random Ahsoka Tano/Chase Davenport thought.
_______________
(Ahsoka & Rafa catching up)
Ahsoka: Yeah, my boyfriend and I...
Rafa: You got a boyfriend? You?
Ahsoka: Yes, me. Anyways, I...
Rafa: You know what? Good for you, actually. It's time you embraced some normalcy.
Ahsoka: ....
Ahsoka: As I was saying, my boyfriend and I completely redesigned our security system after this bored prodigy kid broke in and hacked into my boyfriend's chip, which is alarming in and of itself, but it also caused him to glitch severely enough that the skyscraper we live in almost imploded. So, we've also been experimenting with even more advanced upgrades to safeguard my boyfriend's software.
Rafa: ....
Rafa: Girl, you need an intervention.
