Star Swap: I might have mentioned this, but I love the idea of Jonathan semi-accidentally rallying the meeker prisoners like Guccio and Atroe, which means a lot given that the prison is largely led by a right-makes-right mentality. Because Jonathan is nice and caring and kind and (with some advice from Gwess and Ermes) not afraid to start punching people if need be. He may not have his old muscles but he still has his boxing skill and maybe his hamon? Can't remember when he was taken. Anyway, he manages to assemble a small following of prisoners, helping them so that they can eventually help themselves.
YESSSSSSSSS
while Jolyne's body may not have the pure muscle and intimidation factor that Jonathan's original one had he's far from helpless. As you mentioned there's the aforementioned Hamon and boxing, plus how Hamon would work really well with The Passion when he gets pricked
and it's definitely an accident at first. Jonathan couldn't help it! He wants to help people, no matter whether or not they can give him anything in return. And while he may not teach them Hamon (he realises pretty early on just how dangerous that could get if he taught others), he can teach them how to defend themselves and get away from danger
For a bit of fun chaos, I like to image there was an instance where two people he taught used the things he learned to pick on others and he marched his way over and started scolding the shit out of them. He gave them a flawless "I'm not mad just disappointed" look and speech like he was their parent or something and he looked to genuine and upset and oh god I feel so bad what the fuck was I thinking-
and just to add a but of extra fun spice to it, maybe one of the two ends up attacking him because You Can't Tell Us What To Do Short Stack only to promptly get their ass handed to them on a silver platter. Maybe even a broken bone or two........ but then when it's over Jonathan completely heals the opponent but leaves himself injured so when the guard shows up it looks like the fight was completely one-sided
was that a bit tricky of him to fool the guard like that? Yes, he feels terrible about it for days afterward and can't get the mental image of Dio out of his head, but he isn't going to just let this person use what he taught them to hurt people that just wouldn't be nice >:(
he doesn't even realise how many people he's befriended until Hermes makes a comment about it and he almost starts crying because he hasn't had this many friends EVER, he's still honestly trying to come to terms with the fact he has friends period
once again, I'm loving the mental image of Hermes and Gwess trying their absolute damnedest to just Keep Jojo Alive. They know he's powerful and that he should theoretically be able to handle himself, and most of the time he's honestly really reliable! He's surprisingly emotionally intelligent and knows just what to say....... but then right after he'll do the stupidest (/aff) shit imaginable and they'll remember "right, this is the same guy who thought the tv was trapping people inside and that blood letting was an acceptable medical treatment"
also, speaking of Atroe, I had a silly idea for how Foo slides into things: I think it would if they're just Body Buddies. That's it. Foo expressed interest in helping out Jonathan for the respect he showed them and Atroe was like "welcome to the club! Jojo's really cool and nice so I can't blame you, why don't you come with :D" and just lets Foo vibe in their body
would this work biologically? I don't think so, but also consider It Would Be Funny For The Sake Of The AU

For the Judge Larry AU, I just had the idea of how Larry might affect Investigations 2 and the characters from that game. On one hand, I can imagine him having a slightly tense relationship with Justine Courtney at first, with Justine thinking him too casual and lenient while Larry probably doesn't have much beef with her. On the other hand, I had the mental image of him consoling Sebastian, I don't know how exactly it would happen but it works so well.
Listen.
Listen.
Justine Courtney is firmly of the belief that judges being emotional is a weakness and detrimental to the impartiality a judge requires and thinks Edgeworth is corrupt/unfit to work as a prosecutor.
Larry Butz is one of the most emotional people on the planet and considers Edgeworth one of the most admirable people he knows.
If these two meet it will be on sight, you want to walk into his courtroom and insult one of his prosecutors' competence and skill level and replace him with an obviously inferior model? Penalty! Penalty on you, penalty on your family, penalty on your cow-!!! This is a Larry who's still whimsical and artistic and a hopeless romantic, but he also managed to get into and pass law school. He's an official judge, he's in a position of respect and authority and been forced to get his act together better as a result. Which means that, while canon!Larry is still riddled with self-doubt and probably a decent amount of self-hate he needs to work on, Judge Larry has a decent amount of confidence in himself and his position. Will he bring popcorn with him to a trial if he knows the lawyers involved are going to be entertaining to watch? Of course! But he's absolutely aware that he's got the final say over the goings-on of any court he's presiding over, and it's had a positive effect on him.
Prior to this series of events, Justine and Larry probably knew of each other and disapproved of each others' styles, Justine thinking he's compromising his integrity, Larry claiming that if you don't get emotionally invested in a trial then you won't be able to preside over it with full commitment, but they hadn't really interacted. Now though? They've been set against each other, they each have a boy in the ring, and it is on.
So basically the whole situation just got skewed a bit more in Kay and Edgeworth's favour, but it also got a lot more chaotic. Sadly I don't see this version of Larry consoling Sebastian, since he's viewing the guy more as a threat and insult to one of his oldest friends than anything else, so that role's going to have to stay with Edgeworth. I can see canon!Larry lending Sebastian a shoulder to cry on and whatever words of comfort he can manage, that has the potential to be a fun interaction!
Thanks for the ask!

OH ARCEUS I HAD A THOUGHT—
What if the longer Akari held onto any one plate, the more it changes her? Like, for example, the Meadow Plate starts out with just green eyes, but over time her skin starts turning green as it is filled with Chlorophyl, her hair turns into grass, and if she holds it for too long she visibly becomes... not human.
This might possibly be a bit too angsty for the main Plate Shenanigans AU, but I could see it being, like. An AU of the AU.
OHHHH MAN
youre right that that’s not the direction i want to take with plate shenanigans, but it appeals to me too much to not pursue, so let’s do it! spinoff au time! gonna call it plateshift au

I can only imagine how devastated Lord Zoroark would be if he did end up killing the protagonist. Heck, I might write a drabble on that, if it's okay with you.
[ ailingwriter: OH I JUST HAD A THOUGHT!
The sky only goes weird after all the nobles are quelled, right? What if Lord Zoroark is the last noble quelled, and the protagonist dies trying to quell them? And as a result, instead of just thinking the rift was caused by the protagonist, the general consensus is that the rift only encompassed the entirety of Hisui because the protagonist died? ]
OOOOOOH now kamado's REALLY gonna get his due because in the eyes of the clans, not only did he- directly or indirectly- kill a friend of all the nobles, he indirectly caused the red sky.
LOVE the idea that zoroark is the last noble to be quelled, bc like. all the other regions have had their nobles frenzied and de-frenzied, but then sightings start coming in from people who venture too far up the mountain. a wild zoroark, huge and fierce, pursuing any trespassers and showing all the signs of frenzy that the nobles had
(Oh Fuck, say any of the clan members that still remember the old lord zoroark)
and id LOVE to read a drabble on that!! pls do tag me if you do end up writing it :0

Hey is anyone on this hellsite familiar with old, niche computer games from the 2000's? Because I have a few pieces of nostalgia I would like to recover.
The one I remember most is a creature collecter where you explored different areas. I believe it had an isometric moving system. The protagonist wore a red shirt and had incredibly blonde hair, and you could choose their gender. The first area was a forest, and the second was a cave where you could recruit monsters that looked like a stalagmite and a stalagtite. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please tell me.
(Also feel free to reblog, even if you don't know!)

So FF:Frontier sucks. But there's one thing in it that I think could've been a good addition if it was in a game that was at all competent, and that's the elemental variations on one vivosaur. The original Fossil Fighters, and I think FF:C too, explained that the reason vivosaurs have elements is because the fossils basically absorbed the element of the area they were buried in. This hints at the possibility that the same dinosaur fossil dug up from different areas could result in different elemental types for the vivosaur.
So I think it makes some sense for future games to do this, explore the possibilities. Maybe the different vivosaurs can have different amounts of elemental variation. Like, some vivosaurs are so predisposed to being a certain element that they will always be that element, no matter where you find the fossils. Some vivosaurs are most likely to be one element, but they'll sometimes be found as one or two other elements. Like, maybe one vivosaur is an air type, but when digging in a glacier or in the ocean, you can sometimes find a water type part. And some vivosaurs are so versitile, they can be found equally as multiple elements, even all five, depending on where you look.
Or maybe a future game could revamp the system a bit. Instead of having copies of the same vivosaur with different elements, maybe fossils of different elements could be integrated into the same vivosaur, allowing them to dual-wield elements. Maybe there could be a trade-off, where dual-wielding vivos deal less damage to elements they're strong against, but receive less damage from elements they're weak against. But hmm, that would get complicated with multiple vivosaurs with multiple elements facing off. So maybe it could go the Pokémon route, with each move having its own type. And since Fossil Fighters has far less types than Pokémon, then maybe vivosaurs should be limited to one type too. I was thinking the types of the moves could be determined by the types of the fossils. So if a vivosaur has three air fossils and one neutral fossil, they would be an air type vivosaur, but have one neutral-type move among their air-type moves. Maybe each move's type could be tied to a specific fossil. But I don't want to go back to the original FF's method of only unlocking new moves by integrating fossils. Instead, new moves are still unlocked in a specific order by levelling up, but the moves will remain the same type as the vivosaur until the connected part is integrated. As for how the type of a vivosaur is determined... I was thinking the vivosaur would have the type of the majority of their fossils. So a vivo with two earth fossils, one fire, and one water, would be an earth type. If there's an even split, then the type is whichever the fossils are most likely to be found as, or whatever the vivo's default element is. Maybe, if the fossils are equally likely to be multiple elements, mayyybeee there could be a bit of randomness then? maybe.
Finally, slightly off-topic, legendary types bother me a little. Legendary is a type given to story bosses to make them feel special, but functionally, they're just neutral type with a fancy hat. You could make them strong against all other elements, but that would feel unfair and essentially be the same as increasing their attack and defense. Instead, I think legendary types should have unique type advantages and disadvantages. Some could stay functionally neutral, some could become functionally another type (like Igno could have fire-type advantages and disadvantages), and some could be totally unique, like being strong to air and water but weak to earth and fire. This would make legendary-types feel more special without introducing a dozen new types.
@ailingwriter, what do you think?

Question for the Speedwagon Narrator AU: Does he continue to narrate into part 7 and beyond, does Stephen Steel get that honor, or do they co-narrate parts 8 and 9?
I. Absolutely love the idea of Speeds and Steel co-narrating, that sounds like so much fun
but ALSO....... this opens the possibility of Yasuho and Jodio both getting in on this, being the narrators of parts 8 and 9 respectively
do I know where to go with this idea? No not really, however Speedwagon is too powerful to be felled by a mere universal reset, his ability is beyond our mortal comprehension

...I just had two very different thoughts on how the Judge Larry AU could go after Phoenix avoids getting disbarred. On one hand, the AU could tie into your Saving Simon AU because yeah, Phoenix would so totally get involved in that if he got the chance.
On the other, darker hand... I could see Kristoph looking at this judge who is so steadfastly loyal to Phoenix Wright and see him as an obstacle. And we all know how Kristoph deals with obstacles... (Larry would survive, but it might be a Diego Armando situation where he is out for a long time and it leaves its marks.)
Saving Simon option, the rest of the fandom has the dark stuff covered, I'm opting out of it. <3

yup! i think bug plate is one of the more physically transformative plates and is definitely an eye opener as to Something is up.

Shifting Gears AU: Firth wins both the 'best dad of the year' award and the 'most stressed out dad of the year' award, doesn't he? Also, I'm guessing Angela takes Layton's role, to some extent?
Yes and yes.
Firth definitely has his hands full with Randall’s adventurous nature and Hershel’s need to fiddle with anything slightly mechanical, but he loves his chaotic amnesiac sons and treats them as if they’re his flesh and blood.
Though he’d definitively be confused/stressed when he comes back to them in the middle of an explosive fight neither will tell him the reason of. Things get worse when Hershel disappears first, then Randall sometime later.
And Angela does indeed become a professor. I’m not sure yet what she’d go into (or what her last name should be) but she’d be the one that befriends Clark, Brenda and Claire in Gressenheller, goes on to date Claire and is called to Misthallery/the opera/Monte d’Or by her old friends/student.

I cannot let go of the idea you mentioned, of the Zorua that Emmet finds in the Warden Emmet AU having used to be the protagonist, because the angst—
(wrt this) YEAH YEAH EXACTLY
kamado doesn't trust this stranger from the rift, doesn't want them taking up resources meant for his people, they don't belong here—but he can't do anything directly without severely harming peoples' opinions of him. so he's been sending them on more and more difficult tasks—quell these alphas, stop the frenzied nobles—but they manage to scrape through, every time, no matter what.
finally he raises the stakes. if they really want to be useful, they can go investigate some ghost stories. he doesn't send any help with them, no security corps, no camp, no supplies—it would be too dangerous, too high a risk of things getting lost, and besides, the prodigy here should be able to survive on their own,
but they can't. they try so hard to be perfect and in the end that's what kills them. had they turned around they'd probably be fine! but instead they were chased into an unfamiliar part of the mountain by a wild pokemon, got lost, and died slowly. emmet doesn't find them until it's too late.
meanwhile, both the clans and the guild, and probably some of the galaxy team not in the know as well, are starting to wonder where that young survey recruit went.
