A/N: Hello! I have risen from the dead and my very first post in over a year will be dedicated to the newfound love of my life, Aki Hayakawa. Aside from cooking and driving, I imagine Aki being a somewhat proficient photographer. He has a bunch of cash to blow from being in public safety, and although he has very few vices to spend his salary on, he decided to indulge on a quality camera with the appropriate accessories

It started off small, driving to random spots on his days off and shooting pics. He was definitely more of a scenic photographer before he met you. 

Now that you’re together, you’re almost always the focus of his masterpieces. It’s almost endearing, actually, the way he asks if you’d allow him to take you out on a photoshoot date. Sometimes, he has a specific theme in mind, so he’ll buy the props he needs (including your outfits).

a/n: i saw somewhere in my inbox that someone suggested naming Aki and Y/n’s daughter Yuna meaning kindness so I did

Denji whizzed around the room with Yuna on his shoulders, making airplane noises with his mouth as she erupted into a fit of laughter, giddily patting her small hands against Denji's head.

"Aaaaand we're landing!", he exclaimed.

The blondie swiftly landed on the floor on his knees, lifting the little girl up and down onto the floor as she gripped onto the short table to help her keep her balance.

She watched how Denji observed Power who had a confused look on her face as she stood in front of the sink so he decided to go check on what she was doing.

Yuna didn't like that though. She made grabby hands with her right hand but it was of no avail owing to the fact that Denji's back was already turned to her. Tears welled up in her eyes and she began to let out small fussy noises which made it evident to Denji and Power that she was about to cry.

"Aw c'mon Yuna! We've played airplane nine times already, please don't make it ten", he frowned. His neck was getting tired and so were his arms.

But the little girl wasn't having it. Her lips began to quiver and she let out sniffles.

"Just carry her normally idiot. I don't think she cares about the game anymore", Power intruded, inspecting the two containers she had in her hand. "Quick before the waterworks start!".

Denji sighed dramatically, his shoulders slumping in defeat. He knew it was unavoidable because every single time Yuna wanted to be carried, she'd follow him around like a little duckling. She always got her way, much like her mother.

He made quick work with picking her up and wrapping an arm around her legs, letting her rest her head on his shoulder happily.

"What're you doing?", he narrowed his eyes at Power as he walked over to her. "SERIOUSLY?! ARE YOU TRYING TO GIVE THE CHILD DIABETES??", Denji screamed in her ear.

Power could only let out a hum of confusion.

"THAT'S SUGAR NOT FORMULA!",

She inspected the two tubs side by side. They were the same colour, how was she supposed to know?

"Do I look literate to you?", she rolled her eyes.

Yuna kicked her feet against Denji's side. She wasn't a fan of all the noise and would much prefer being put down to venture off elsewhere.

Denji abided to her whines of complaint and placed her on her feet, watching her waddle away to who knows where.

"You don’t have to be able to read to know that they both look AND taste different", he shook his head.

“Sugar, formula, what’s the difference honestly”, Power swatted her hand. They were both foods that could be eaten and shat out again so she was indifferent to them.

“Life and death. That’s the difference”, Aki was super overprotective when it came to his daughter. If anything was to happen to her while he wasn’t around, they two would never see the light of day again.

Speaking of Yuna..

"What have you done!", Denji gasped, terror taking over his face. He could literally feel Aki's wrath already.

The little girl was after messing with the buttons of the washing machine. How she made it leak water was beyond him.

She sat in the pool of water, cheerfully splashing her palms in the liquid. As she was about to put her wet hand in her mouth, Denji quickly stopped her and held her under her armpits as to avoid getting his clothes wet.

He looked at the girl with an unimpressed expression.

"Be honest with me for a second here...do you want your pops to kick me out?".

Power let out a scream and flung her arms around frantically.

"They're back Denji!", she belted as she furiously tried to wipe up the puddle of water.

"Shit shit shit shit shit!", Denji quickly went into Aki and Y/n'a shared room to look for a spare change of clothes for Yuna.

"They're good kids Aki, don't be so worried", Y/n clung to his arm and gave him a smile.

"You put way too much faith in them", he shook his head. As the two approached the door, Aki scoffed a laugh. "I'm surprised the door is still on its hinges". She playfully hit his shoulder as he opened the door.

Through the silent squeaking of the door opening, the couple were surprised to see Denji and Power sitting on their knees with their hands on their lap and a fake smile plastered on their lips, Yuna sitting in between them as she chewed on a teething toy.

"Welcome home!", the two said in unison which was beyond strange to Aki and Y/n.

Aki looked around suspiciously as Y/n approached the three.

"You two did an amazing job!", she ruffled their hair before picking Yuna up. "I hope she wasn't much trouble".

"No trouble at all..", Denji glanced at the washing machine briefly.

It was as if his eyes held some kind of power because just as he finished his sentence, water came gushing out from the bottom of the machine.

"Oh em gee", Power uttered.

Denji on the other hand was simply speechless.

Yuna let out a giggle at her mother's shocked expression. It was much like the funny faces she made to cheer her up whenever she was sad.

Power and Denji expected Aki to go off on a tangent about how irresponsible they were but he simply opened up the laptop that rested idly on the counter and started typing.

"What are you doing?", Y/n inquired.

"Looking for plumbing apprenticeships for these two", he responded.

Denji and Power turned to face each other. "WHAT?!".

That’s just one of the reasons why Aki chose to work with you in the first place.

– However, as similar as you and Aki were, you guys butted heads ALL. THE. TIME. It was to the point where it drove some of the other employees crazy with how much the two of you would argue over such trivial matters. Of course, it didn’t help that none of you were willing to ever lose an argument because of your stubbornness.

– Whatever idea you had, Aki seemed to have the opposite, and whatever opinion he had, you disagreed. So there would just be constant bickering from your private office because not a day goes by that you weren’t at each other’s throats. There were moments when the fights would get so bad that none of you would talk to each other for days, only passive-aggressively passing notes when you needed something.

– When asked why Aki still worked for you even though all you guys seemingly do is argue, he’d nonchalantly shrug and reply, “It pays well enough, I guess.” And when someone would ask why you still haven’t fired him, you’d sigh and say, “He gets the job done.”

– The employees at your company shipped you guys together despite the yelling and words thrown around the office because they saw how you guys would make it up to each other in the days that followed.

– Aki would go out of his way to buy your favorite coffee and pastry first thing in the morning, having it ready and piping hot on your desk when you came in because he knew that you had stayed up the previous night to finish a business deal. He’d replace the withering flowers in your office with your favorite ones that you’d always buy in the floral shop around the corner. Aki would wordlessly place a homemade lunch on your desk when the afternoon came because he knew that you wouldn’t have time to eat today. He’d wait for you when everyone else had gone home because Aki didn’t want you riding the train when it was so late. These were only a few ways he’d apologize to you.

–  You would buy Aki’s coffee mid-day because you knew the fatigue of running errands weighed down on him, and he needed a quick energizer. Then, at lunchtime, when he’s out with Denji and Himeno, you’d stop by the dry cleaners with his suit jacket in hand that was left on his chair, wanting the clothing to be crisp when he returned. Finally, once Aki has dropped you off at your apartment late in the night, you’d reach over to where his hand rests on the gear shift, offering a slight squeeze and a soft smile; you told him to drive safe and text you when he gets home. These were only a few ways you’d apologize to him.

– However, there were days when the two of you would bring each other coffee simultaneously. You’d both stare at the piping hot cup in the other’s hand before reaching out and wordlessly exchanging it. The tip of your fingers would brush together, sending an electrifying tingle down your spine that made you quickly turn away to hide the heat rising in your cheeks. You appreciated how calloused and rough Aki’s hands felt, hardened by years of hard work to get to where he is now. Aki gently smiled because an indescribable feeling bloomed inside his chest when you brushed his hands. He didn’t know what it was; he just knew he liked it. Aki appreciated how soft and supple your hands felt, despite the blood, sweat, and tears you had put into building this company.

– As you and Aki made your way to your respective desks, you couldn’t help but push this feeling into the back of your mind because it was supposed to be nothing… right?

On some days— your worst, your insecurities skyrocketed. You’d stand before the mirror, wishing for everything to go away.Your insecurities had such a far range, from yourself and your body and habits, to your boyfriend and those who surrounded him.

To you, it just was that everyone around Aki was perfect—beautiful, strong, assertive—and you were, well, you. You weren’t a beautiful boss, or a strong devil hunter with a team to lead. You were a normal person with a normal job.

Aki never understood your insecurities. You were his world, his safe space, where he went for advice. He knew about your ‘days’, and just couldn’t understand. You’re so perfect— whats there to be sad about?

He knows to—sometimes—leave you alone during times like this. Things like these are personal battles and you cant overcome them with help—its a battle of your own mind and how you see yourself. He can only help you in the aftermath.

Sometimes, during these ‘episodes, you’d just listen to music on an outdated music player, with an old play going on in the background.

He knocked on the bedroom door, just coming back from work.

“..[name]? are you in there?” He noticed that Denji and Power weren’t home yet—it was so quiet. ‘I wonder what they’re fucking up now,’ he thought as he twisted the door handle open.

He slowly opened the door to find you sitting on the bed, head on a pillow, with your eyes at the cealing.

“..[name]?” He looked at you oddly. “Are you awake?”

Your gaze slowly shifted from the ceiling to his tall frame, peeking through the door. He looked so handsome, so effortlessly. He was also just so caring, so sweet. An amazing boyfriend. Multiple times, you’d ‘joke’ and say that he was too good for you.

“Aki,” you sighed, happy that it was him and not Power or Denji—you loved them, sure, but they were both insanely loud and ignorant, and at the moment, you couldn’t take the noise. You covered up the sigh with a light laugh, “Im sorry, I didnt hear you come through the door- come, sit.” You patted the sheets near you so he could sit next to you, exactly where he liked to be. But something was off.

He slowly shuffled over to sit next to you, as you propped yourself up again to lie down. He bent over to give you a quick kiss that seemed to put you deep in thought.

“ [Name], what’re you thinking about?” He seemed so confused and concerned—He was so genuine.

“I was just feeling so insecure,” you started, taking a deep breath before finishing, “so insecure that you might not love me anymore.”

A moment of silence filled the room before he let out a fake cough. “..why is that?” He was perplexed. Hasn’t he been taking care of you? Showing you affection?

You took a deep breath—what you were about to say was going to take a whole lot of guts, but it’ll also get so much off of your chest. You knew it was better to talk about your problems and come to a helpful agreement.

“Himeno.” Her name came out like a cracked whisper, maybe even a sob. “Himeno,..shes a reason that I feel like that.Shes always so close to you, so touchy. To any outsider, it looks like you both are dating.”

You turned over to the wall so you wouldn’t face him. You sounded so stupid. But you tried so hard for him, and he knew. At this point, you didn’t even know if he was being oblivious on purpose. How could a man not notice how close she was?

“ [Name], you know I dont like Himeno, we’re just co-workers. Sometimes, I even find her antics annoying.” He rubbed your back as he spoke, then leaned down to plant a kiss to the side of your neck.

“I dont know what i have to do to prove it to you, but I really dont like Himeno like how I like you.” He moved his body so he’d be getting off the bed.

“I’ll leave you in here. Tell me if theres anything you need,alright?” He walked to the door and almost finished closing it when you turned over a bit.

we see aki give up his literal lifespan to save angel during the fight with the typhoon devil. aki says “he’s tired of seeing people die in front of him” and most people see that as an “oh aki can’t be gay, he only saved angel because he doesn’t like seeing people die.” while that is true, it also confirms one thing about aki’s feelings: he sees angel as a person.

think about it. angel has somehow already wormed his way into aki’s cold, dead heart from the beginning. aki truly does not care about devils at all, so if he really didn’t care about angel, he would have let him die right then and there.

so obviously, we can see that aki cares about angel.

but, does angel care about aki?

the answer is yes, and here’s why.

in angel’s introduction, we learn that he hates humans and wants to see them suffer. when aki grabs his hand in the typhoon devil fight, angel first reaction is to tell at aki and ask why he did that. “don’t you know you’ll die?” angel, who normally detests humans and wishes they were dead, does not want aki to die.

the evidence is irrefutable. whether you view them as a ship or not, aki and angel care about each other, even though they might not admit it.

Csm characters as Laufey songs (I love Laufey)

I’m providing explanations because I think some of the songs would have to be interpreted slightly differently to fit but this was just for fun.

Denji: Just like Chet

just like Laufey and just like Chet, Denji also falls in love too easily and is too willing to listen to women who don’t have his best interest in mind, even though in part two it’s shown how he doesn’t like this pattern of behavior he has.

Power: Best Friend

I think Power’s friendship with Denji is definitely the most important part about her character and role in the story, and even through her lies and rough personality she loves him and how much he means to her. The girl Laufey is singing about in Best Friend is her twin sister, which sort of fits with how Power and Denji have that sibling dynamic.

Aki: Above the Chinese Restaurant

Similar to how friendship is important to Power, family and having a home with Denji and Power is extremely important to Aki. Even though his life was kind of shitty he still grew to appreciate and love Denji and Power and the apartment they had together. I think this song could also work with Denji since it emphasizes missing that home you had with someone, but it also fits Aki really well with how much the found family dynamic grew on him by the end of part one.

Makima: Magnolia

there’s not much of an explanation to be had; the way magnolia is described in the song is quite literally how the other characters view Makima

Reze: Second Best

Reze was very much considered the second choice compared to Makima in the bomb girl arc, even though Denji really did love her. She specifically asks if the reason he won’t run away with her is because he also likes someone else, which can show how she probably felt like she was second best to Makima the whole time.

Angel: Fragile

I think this song’s chorus works with chapter 50 specifically but it also works if we look at how he’s “fragile” when it comes to getting close or emotionally intimate with others (as in he avoids it so he won’t hurt others). Throughout part one he slowly becomes more close with Aki and is able to be more emotionally vulnerable, showing how Aki has sort of shattered his fragility through the care he’s shown for him.

Himeno: Haunted

Haunted fits her in the way that the deaths of her past partners and her own unhealthy coping mechanisms still follow her. Also with her unrequited crush on Aki it could also fit with how he “haunts” her by not loving her the way she loves him.

Asa: Falling Behind

Even with Asa’s insecurities it’s clear she’s lonely and longs for companionship, though she thinks she’ll never be able to have that. She feels like she’s failing at maintaining relationships with other people, and with the scene in the earlier chapters of part two where she was seeing other people in her school interacting with each other, it’s clear she’s jealous of the bonds they have that she thinks she’ll never achieve.
