Going to write a few things on of the best asian dramas I have watched in 2022.

Love Between Fairy and Devil.

This drama surprises in many ways and let me just say Donfang Cinqang is probably the antihero that we all need to understand that ML does not necessarily have to be a glorified hero all the time.

What surprises me with his character is not that he's violent. Despite having to remove all his emotions, we do witness a few moments where we can see his compassion and empathy towards things that he cares for. He wages war not because he is power hungry like The Fairy Realm ruler. He rages with war because he wants his tribe to be protected and look up upon. For thousands of years Moon Tribe have been misunderstood, misjudged and discriminated as barbaric and uncilvized. So when he brought Xiao Lanhua to Cangyan Sea, it was probably, to me, one of the best decision, cause who else need to see the true story other than the fairy realm person herself. His goal for being a ruthless leader is pretty much very clear to show what kind of person he is in the core.

I wasn't expecting this drama to touch a lot on the struggle of wars and civil wars and these are aspects of the drama that I appreciated a lot when watching it. Wars often happened due to power struggle (civil wars within Cangyan Sea) and power monopoly (big power like Fairy Realm trying to start war with any reason available just so they could suppress people around them). I love how this drama highlighted with struggling region like Moon Tribe, war have costed them a lot. People losing families and loved ones to the battles, having to be on toes at all time as their support system is gone bit by bit. Dongfang Cingqang knows this, emphatizes with this situation even, by making this as one of the main reasons he rages wars with all 3 realms; to save his people from being stepped on by the power like Fairy Realm. He knows very well his people need him to survive and they just simply could not survive another invasion. He had no other way other than to take the war onto his hand rather than waiting for it to come for them.

This drama have very well showcased diversity in terms of showing gender is not correlated with power. The fact that everytime the realm needs to be saved, the ones that will save it, is always female trult solidifies this point; Lady Chidi, first goddess of Xilan, goddess Xi Yun, Xi Lan Hau, Fairy Dan Yin aiming to be God of War - it's truly a long list of powerful woman whom have carved or decide to carve, their own fate and destiny to save the realms, despite the emotional struggles that they are dealing with. I think it is one of the important things to show in a drama - that women are not only worth portraying as a damsel in distress to move the plot. Women can be emotional and also heroic when needed to. This dual aspects to me are just chef's kiss.

Lastly I would like to talk about the character progress for both ML and FL. FL starts as someone who is ignorant, but as the episode goes by, she is showing more understanding on complexity and fragility of the situation. It is simply not about her siding with Fairy Realm or Moon Tribe. In a way she's maturing in terms of having a wider perspective of the situation. She, later on, understand perfectly why giving up on war is not something on the table for Dongfang Cingqang. At the end of the day, she chooses to be with the person she loves, realizing that home is not a place, but rather a person. For the ML he starts of with full of hostility and eventually progresses with more compassion and consideration towards people that he cares about. It is not just about FL changing him. He progresses because of the more awareness that he regains and learns from being with the FL. I love that there are certain aspects of the ML that are always consistent no matter what circumstances and situation are being thrown at him - his priority for his people despite having confronted by Xiao Lanhua multiple times, his nature to protect people that he cares about regardless of the ways that it needed to be executed, and his willingness to understand things rather than just attacking on impulse.

Of course for the romantic plot, I LOVE how everything started with the heart curse and spirals into an actual life and emotional connection. I want to mention here, the fact that Dongfang Cingqang acknowledges and understands how much Xiao Lanhua has to sacrifice for him, is just top grade. Not only that, he makes an effort, multiple times, to not put her in a difficult spot for choosing him. I personally don't see this a lot in many period cdrama because more often than not FL is expected to sacrifice for ML (unconditionally) when it comes to overcoming hardship.

Best to say this is one of the well written xanxia drama for 2022. I rate this 8/10. (maybe it will be a bit higher if the ending wasn't too rushed lol). Believe it or not, I think there are so many life lessons that can be taken from this drama. There is no black and white in real world and I think this drama have successfully portrayed this in many of the characters - people are not inherently bad. There are only bad choices and decisions. Make sense when you think about why ancient evil God Tai Sui is actually the biggest villain in this drama.

The Targ Talk (a review series): House of the Dragon episode 4

The way Rhaenyra's fingers touched the pendant that Daemon gave her, when she saw Caraxes flying all the way to King's Landing, and the way she smiled when she finally saw Daemon in the flesh after 4 long years. The way Daemon's expression softened up upon seeing Rhaenyra again, their flirting moments, I am living for these!!!

THE BROTHEL SCENE WAS SOMETHING I WASN'T PREPARED FOR!!!! Of course I knew about that part in the book, but man the oozing chemistry between Matt and Milly was *chef's kiss.* Their sexual tension was so on point, I really felt how Daemon and Rhaenyra wanted each other so badly. Perhaps the reason why Daemon held back was because even if he asks for Rhaenyra's hand in marriage, Viserys would never consent to it (as seen in the later part). But anyhoo, this is the hottest scene in this episode so far and I can't wait for more Daemon and Rhaenyra scenes!

The scene with Criston Cole was hot as well but not as hot as Daemon and Rhaenyra, and I don't like Ser Criston even if he's cute (if you've read Fire & Blood, you'll know why).

Spoiler alert: There were two contradicting accounts about Rhaenyra's virginity issue. One was Maester Runciter's where he narrated that Daemon seduced Rhaenyra and he was the one who claimed her maidenhead, and when they were caught in bed the next day, Rhaenyra insisted that she was in-love with Daemon. But in Mushroom's true telling, Rhaenyra had eyes on Ser Criston Cole and Daemon...well, he basically "taught" her how to pleasure a man (yes, he brought her to brothels aside from doing a demo with her and her doing a return demo on him, if know what I mean 😂). But Criston was true to his vows so Rhaenyra wasn't able to apply her "learnings" on him.

Aaaaand yes, Daemon admitted to having a thing with Rhaenyra and asked for her hand in marriage, but Viserys was one angry papa and he was not having any of it because his brother was already married to someone else.

The side by side comparison of Alicent and Rhaenyra's lives were brilliant. Here we see Alicent who was wife to the king and has the position any woman would want, yet it was clear that she wasn't happy. She was dragged into a marriage her father carefully plotted, birthed one child after another, performed her role as a dutiful wife which includes visiting her husband's chamber whenever he needed her. It wasn't the life that she wanted, yet she had no say towards it. Her being a queen is just a facade but in reality, she is a prisoner, she cannot complain, she cannot refuse, and she is silenced in many ways.

Fan theory + spoiler alert: I have a hunch that this will be one of the many reasons why she went insane during her final days (the start of Aegon III's reign)

Rhaenyra on the other hand, though also being burdened by her role as heir and being placed into so much pressure to get married, has always had a voice (aka getting into a heated debate with her father just to prove her point). The thing with Rhaenyra is that the more people try to control her, the more she is likely to go against it. The more she's being held back, the more she desires freedom and that gives her the fire to do whatever the fuck she wants.

Speaking of which, this personality of hers is pretty much like Daemon which is why they're such a perfect match.

Again, a part of me believes that Alicent cares for Rhaenyra. However, I think the reason why the latter denied her bff the truth was that she knew she couldn't trust her anymore. Instead, Rhaenyra used this opportunity to make her father strip Otto Hightower of his title as Hand in exchange of her marrying Laenor Velaryon which I think was a clever move. Otto deserves it anyway hahaha!

Spoiler alert: Rhaenyra was adamant to NOT marry Laenor and was only brought down to her knees when Viserys threatened to make Aegon his heir. That's when Rhaenyra consented to the marriage.

I forgot about the part in the book where Viserys actually came to his senses and fired Otto as Hand 😂. But I am so glad that he wasn't as dumb as we think he is, the king removing that pin was so satisfying.

I also found it funny at how Rhaenyra had to dramatically put up some shit about Otto trying to ruin her, but Viserys ended up not believing her anyway (that she didn't have sex). Rhaenyra's face when she was given the tea (as ordered by Viserys) to get rid of the possible consequence was so freaking funny.

OH THIS IS SUCH AN INTERESTING QUESTION!!!!! let's see....

1. last twilight. JIMMYSEA + P’AOF + A STORY ABOUT A DISABLED CHARACTER DO I NEED TO SAY MORE. i mean i could and i would but you don’t want me to go down that rabbit hole, trust me. even pushing my own personal bias to the side, this looks like it's gonna be a mature story with fantastic direction and cinematography, and if done right it could also give a very powerful message about disability, so i have insanely high hopes for it and im gonna be SO ANNOYING when the show finally airs (yes even more than i already am).

2. wish you luck. im not sure we’re actually getting this in 2023 or at all tbh, but god knows i desperately need it because 1) tonnam FINALLY as the main character in a BL, it’s what my boy deserves so please make it happen, and 2) [CHANTS] SCI-FI BL SCI-FI BL SCI-FI BL!!!!!! i enjoy it immensely when BLs try to get plotty and ambitious and innovative, and the trailer seems to have a pretty good production and fantastic cinematography. it honestly has so much potential AND I WANT IT SO BADLY.

(and just to confuse the hell out of everyone....)

3. wish me luck. this looks like a very classic office romance and i do personally tend to enjoy those, but the real reason why im more excited for this one compared to all the other office BLs we’re getting this year (a boss and a babe, cherry magic thai, step by step, etc.) is that i ADORE both fiat and na and i can’t wait to see them together as the main characters in a BL. in the category of office romance it's also the trailer that convinced me the most out of all of them, like the vibes are just [chef's kiss] immaculate. ALSO MORE TONNAM.

4. dangerous romance. to be fair i could have honestly put any other gmmtv BL here because im very excited for all of them, however after seeing perth and chimon in never let me go my interest in this one has skyrocketed, which is very surprising to me considering it's an highschool BL, but this is what great actors with great chemistry can do to a woman. the plot isn't particularly groundbreaking but at the same time the trailer is really compelling and i like that the show will probably deal with more serious topics, so im very much here for it.

5. the next prince. to be completely honest im not that big of a fan of zeenunew (or dumundi in general actually), however this show looks like all my teenage dreams coming true and unfortunately i am very weak for it. i grew up with movies like ‘princess diaries’, ‘the prince and me’, ‘what a girl wants’, and so many other hallmark christmas movies about modern royalty, all the while wishing there could be a queer alternative for those, which in the years also made me read all the possible royalty AU fics i could find for my ships. so not only domundi is playing with all my hopes and dreams, but they also gave me fencing and ballroom dancing and love vs duty. this is most likely going to be pushed to 2024 and im not sure domundi will be able to actually deliver (at least plot-wise), but despite my better judgement i am embarassingly excited for this one.

1: Three ships I like right now...

Hmm, let's assume this means "ship-ships" and not family or friendships, right? Because, WOOF, would we be here for awhile.

Kaz Brekker/Jesper Fahey from Shadow and Bone. It breaks my heart, it ain't ever ever gonna happen, the book apparently spits on me and rips my heart out of my chest, and it's now difficult to find the kind of fanfiction I want for it... Oh sweet suffering. (I will also always accept Kaz/Inej/Jesper in this equation).

Tsukitachi/Hirato from Karneval. Look, it's NOT going away for me, guys. Yes, I know the fandom is dead, there is 0 content for it, and no one knows/cares what I'm talking about with them. Which is SO sad honestly because I know that if it were just more popular, people would be having a blast with the characters, plots, pairings etc. Sigh... Alas, though, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are DEAD AF... Still, I love my BFF Captains, even if no one knows they exist but me lol.

Lastly, probably Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson? They have... pretty great fics, guys. As in some true 'chef's kiss' grade smut lol.

2: First Ever Ship... Puppyshipping (Seto Kaiba/Joey Wheeler) from Yu-gi-oh 100%. Closely followed by Dragonshipping... who.. um, guys, is practically canon if you rewatch it, which I think is hilarious. Like, WATCH THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS MOVIE. OMG. Joey gets saved by this man and is legit trying not to sob to Yugi over the fact he was in love with his alter ego bahhahahahah. Anyway though, just something about puppyshipping.... the low hanging fruit of it, I never stood a chance. Like OMG, it was my GATEWAY DRUG! Do I see how unrealistic and problematic it is as a grow woman? You bet I do... do I look back on it fondly? It is my first love <3

3: Last song.... Hm. About Love by MARINA. So pretty and nice to hear her newer stuff. And, NO, I didn't find it from the movie everyone keeps talking about. I never saw it, I found this the old fashion way... hearing it on the radio at my place of employment lol.

4: Last Movie.... Lephrechaun 4: IN SPACE! HAHAKJBKJBASJKBD I am watching ALL of them for the first time, and they are so so beautiful. Like...SO BAD. SO GOOD!!!!!

5: Currently reading... Um, like, ALL the family feels fanfiction of the TMNT 2012 brothers I can get my hands on. Can't stress enough that I am NOT shipping this. FA-MI-LY fics, okay?? Family is my weakness! Why do you think I love talking about Dream's messed up family and making my own crack content??

6: Currently watching... Actually, I'm finally going back and watching ALL of Steven Universe because I never did when it aired. I remember it getting really heavy and, at the time, I just didn't have the emotional bandwidth for it. Now, however, I am literally chugging its traumatic plot lines like I'm rushing at a frat house. Sobbing the entire time alone in my room. Loving EVERY second of it hahah!

K | Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo | Romcom | 2016 | Everyone loves this one, but it just isn’t my favourite. Extra points because I watched this with my sisters during Q*arant*ne and we bonded. | (9/10)

K | Her Private Life | Romcom, Workplace | 2019 | Excellent, amazing, I loved this one. A supporting character was a bit annoying but was also a great SC, so overall good friend vibes. Humorous scenes served. | (10/10)

K | Hwarang: the Beginning | Action, Drama, Historical, Romcom | Excellent plot and character development; SQUAD GOALS. One issue: MML says to FML “I never want to see you cry” or something along those lines and MFL proceeds to cry almost every episode. Wooga Squad unite! | (9/10)

K | Descendants of the Sun | Action, Drama, Romcom, Workplace(?) | 2016 | Excellent: plot, relationships, characters, romance, comedy, squad...Thoroughly dislike Antagonist. | (10/10)

Fascinating plot (I finished in 2 days), amazing side characters and relationships with the leads, and interesting facts and myths were expounded on. K | The King: Eternal Monarch | Fantasy, Mystery, Romance | 2020 | Just-just watch it. Amazing squad, relationships, plot, chemistry, bromance, comedy, etc. Why are you still reading? Watch it! | (50/10)

K | Business Proposal | Business, Romcom, Workplace | 2022 | All the hype is right. Fluffy romance with two couples with loads of humour and a sprinkle of BackstoryTM. Have rewatched. | (20/10)

K | Mr Queen | Fantasy, Romcom | 2020 | Fellas, is it gay if you fall in love with your arranged bride who’s [REDACTED] and is desperately trying to avoid you but also kind of falls in love with you? Asking for a friend. Side characters and plot are excellent as well. | (10/10)

K | Shopping King Louie | Romcom | 2016 | Surprisingly good characters and plot. Character growth in spades and a cute, complementary couple. Nice friends & side characters. | (10/10)

K | Ghost Doctor | Fantasy, Romcom | 2022 | Laugh-out-loud hilarious with excellent plot and character growth scenes sprinkled throughout. Could have used a dash more of the romance in my opinion, but overall a very good drama I would recommend. | (9/10)

K | Goblin | Drama, Fantasy, Romcom | 2016 | Iconic; a must-watch. Humour and angst interwoven with touching characters to create an outstanding plot. Several plot twists had me surprised, and I must say I’m happily surprised that the ending of Goblin is not more talked about, so late-comers to the party like me don’t have the experience ruined. | (100/10)

K | Legend of the Blue Sea | Drama, Fantasy, Romcom | 2016 | The Vibes were Immaculate; an excellent comfort drama. Squad goals and an intriguing plot | (30/10)

K | Sound of Magic | Drama, Fantasy, Musical | 2022 | I was not expecting this to be a mmusical and admit to skipping some songs. The plot was hooking but not for me. I appreciate the themes conveyed and the platonic friendships cultivated (also my boy finally gets a girl:sob:) | (8/10)

K | So I Married my Antifan | Romcom, Music | 2021 | Funny, cute, and a mature couple(-ish). The side ships were also nice to see. | (10/10)

K | Scholar Who Walks the Night | Action, Fantasy, Historical, Romance | 2015 | This drama made me think. Large helping of intrigue; I was waiting for the villain’s backstory and was surprised at the result. Excellent ending. (Why did Lee Soo Hyuk need to be shirtless in almost all his scenes?) | (10/10)

K | My ID is Gangnam Beauty | Romcom | 2018 | Cute, mature couple with good relationship dynamics everywhere, appropriate themes. I would have appreciated more 2nd/3rd lead romances. | (9/10)

K | W: Two Worlds | Action, Drama, Fantasy, Romcom, Thriller | 2016 | A little bit of everything, and a very captivating storyline. Great chemistry and a cute, mature couple. Am rewatching. | (10/10)

K | It's Okay not to be Okay | Drama, Romcom | 2020 | Interesting storyline, nice character arcs, character growth. Good representation of people with mental and emotional issues. | (7/10)

K | Gaus Electronics | Comedy, Workplace | 2022 | Good character development, relationships, and individual stories. Many laugh-out-loud moments. | (10/10)

K | Little Women | Action, Drama, Mystery, Thriller | 2022 | Hooking storyline/plot, nice relationships, quite intrigue and plot twist-y; the latter half of the drama really made me think. Excellent, but was so highly stressful I watched all 12 episodes in one day. I still want a slightly longer ending. | (10/10)

K | Happiness | Action, Fantasy, Horror, Thriller | 2021 | Interesting, great power couple that are so cute and mature (couple goals tbh). A shocking amount of murder [REDACTED], but a happy ending. | (9/10)

K | Extraordinary Attorney Woo | Drama, Legal, Workplace | 2022 | Very well done, with good character growth and plot twists/surprises. (WARNING TO FELLOW SINGLE PRINGLES: You will feel even lonelier.) I want someone to look at me like Junho looks at YoungwooT-T I can't wait for season 2! | (10/10)

C | Who Rules the World | Action, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Romance | 2022 | Excellent character/relationship growth and conflict resolution; the MLs have a cute, mature relationship & friendships. Intrigue and manipulations galore, but there is a... satisfactory ending. | (10/10)

K | The K2 | Drama, Romance, Thriller | 2016 | Very good/nuanced character growth/portrayal, with a cute romance to balance out all the action and sTreSs📈 Maybe not a happy but a satisfactory ending. Honestly, I found the characters to be deeply lonely and unhappy, despite being so rich and successful; all-in-all a thought-provoking drama. | (20/10)

(I had to take a hiatus from dramas as 3 dramas with Ji Chang-Wook right after each other was too much for me and I was depressed & single LOL. A word of advice to my kdrama girlies, ration out your JCW.)

K | Soundtrack #1 | Drama, Music, Romance | 2022 | Short and sweet; cute friendship, cute couple with a happy ending. We stan Eunsoo's mom shipping them. Got me back into dramas after ^ | (10/10)

K | Bad and Crazy | Action, Crime, Drama, Fantasy, Mystery, Romcom, Thriller | 2022 | My 50th drama! A funny, dramatic, interesting plot line, (not quite sure that's [REDACTED] but ok, I guess that’s where the fantasy comes in), with a hint of romance and a good supporting cast. | (9/10)

K | Reborn Rich | Drama, Fantasy, Isekai, Romance(?) | 2022 | Unpleasant but well-acted characters and an interesting plot with a good cast create a thought-provoking and intriguing drama. Similar to K2 in that you can't trust anybody; they'll betray you in a second for a penny, even your own family | (9/10)

K | Legally Dad | Drama, Romance | 2020 | Short and sweet. Adorable kid (not active sidekick unfortunately) | (9/10)

K | Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 | Historical, Horror, Romance, Fantasy | 2023 | Would rewatch in a minute.They're so unserious😭 Great acting, fascinating plot and characters, fun backstory, and plenty of chaotic gumiho crack to carry through the darker moments. Over all a cute, humorous drama. | (1000/10)

K | Abyss | Crime, Fantasy, Romance | 2019 | A mature couple, a happy ending, an intriguing plot, and character development, what more do you need?. More legal/murder mystery-ish & less sci-fi-y than expect but good overall. | (8/10)

My Thoughts on Supernatural, Season 11

This post was inspired by a post I saw from @seasononesam , found here

I actually consider this season to be one of my favorites of the late seasons but, like so often happens with this weirdo show, it’s not because of the season plot. Rather, I love how hard this season goes on the Sam and Dean of it all, especially after the last 2-3 years of angst. And I like a lot of the MOTW episodes.

Episodes I Pretty Much Love:

Baby

- Give me all the brother talks, "Night Moves", and quiet bonding

- Sam re-loses his virginity, and Dean is weirdly proud of his brother for hooking up. As usual.

- The Sam and Not-John vision is interesting and surprised me.

- I’ve heard the story way too many times, but Dean doing the reverse 180 is pretty hot.

- Interesting concept

Just my imagination

- At first I didn’t like this one because it felt too "kiddy."

- I love Sully, I love Sully and Sam, and I love Jared's acting in his talk with Sully near the end, and I didn’t expect it in this silly episode.

- The silliness has grown on me, and Dean's reactions to the Zana (don’t know how to spell it and don’t want to look it up) is pretty amusing.

Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

- I love all the Sam stuff

- Crowley and Rowena and their dysfunction is mostly amusing in this one.

- Sam's devastation when he finds out it wasn’t God who was speaking to him is heartbreaking.

- But, shut up Amara and Angels!

The Devil in the Details

- Sam and Lucifer walking down Sam's memory lane is interesting. Colin Ford!

- Jared's portrayal of a terrified but brave Sam is *chef's kiss*

- Dean's indignant "Have you met me?" is very on point and makes me smile every time.

- Sam trusting in Dean to save him is very little brother energy, and protective Dean is always good.

- But, Cass, you’re an idiot, and you crapped on Sam's willingness to die rather than let the devil out of the cage

Safe House

- Bobby and Rufus in the past cut together with Sam and Dean now is really enjoyable for me. I like the transitions.

- Dean and Bobby seeing each other in the nest is cool and sad since Bobby is long dead in the current timeline.

- Bobby seeing Sam and Dean in the nest (parts of your soul or people you love) since he sees them as his boys is nice.

- Dean seeing only Sam in the nest is so accurate for him. We know Sam is a piece of his soul, but this could also be seen as seeing his son (like Bobby), or like seeing his partner (like the woman who saw her husband). It’s a rich tapestry :)

- Sorry but I have to … who did he not see …? For the hellers in the back …

Red Meat

- Everything!

- Hurt Sam. BAMF Sam. Protective Dean. Romeo Dean.

- Sam is the man (or person) Dean loves. This episode could be in Season 2, and I mean that in a good way. Though I have to admit the werewolf guy is a bit over the top at the for for me.

Don’t Call Me Shurley

- While I don’t love what happens with Chuck down the road, I did find this episode moving. Chuck at the end healing and helping people actually choked me up on the first watch.

- This is the only time Metatron doesn’t completely suck, so far

- Sam and Dean in the fog always gets me, especially how Dean has not learned his lesson of letting Sam go, and tries to breath in the fog to join him in getting infected.

- The Samulet - it being in Sam's pocket tells me that Sam has carried it with him since "Dark Side of the Moon" - fight me!

Honorable Mentions:

Form and Void

- Pro: BAMF and Smart Sam, again

- Con: shut up Baby Amara!

Thin Lizzie

- Pro: gives me slightly older-school SPN vibes; just working a case

- Cons: shut up Tween Amara with your weird crush on Dean!

Into the Mystic

- Pros: The talk between the brothers near the end of the episode is nice, where Sam apologizes for not continuing to look for him, and Dean is gracious about it. I also like how the episode is bookended with Sam not able to sleep at the beginning and Dean not able to sleep at the end. Also, I kinda like the old lady, I generally like Eileen (just not in a ship with Sam), and this is one of the few times I don’t mind Misha as Cassifer

- Cons: the banshee looks weird, and does a little too anticlimactically for me (though I gues that kinda the point).

Don’t You Forget About Me

- Pro: I generally like Alex, and I don’t mind Claire in this one, and I’m actually interested in the Jody and co. dynamics which isn’t always the case. The sex talk at the table is funny.

- Con: Nothing really stand out as a con in this one for me, other than I never exactly need a Claire episode.

Beyond the Mat

- Pro: Sam and Dean having fun together and watching the wrestling, and Dean making an ass of himself getting into the ring are fun.

- Cons: I don’t really like the actual case and find it a tad boring.

Alpha and Omega

- Pro: Sam and Dean hug with "no chick flick" callback, and Dean saves the day because of how much he and Sam love each other. It saves the world this time.

- Cons: BMOL plot crap watering down the episode, Chuck and Amara is kind of a weak ending since the drama is boiled down to a silly sibling issue and could have been avoided easily.

The rest of the episodes, unless I’m forgetting one, are either just "meh" to me, or I actively dislike them. Especially any other episodes with a big Amara focus generally are not for me.

The Bad Seed

- Shut. Up. Little Amara! I find her deeply irritating.

Plush

- pretty much only thing I find amusing and not bad-weird in this episode is Sam and Dean joking about the jail bunny, but refusing to laugh at each other’s jokes.

Love Hurts

- in past episodes I feel like this would have been done better. It feels like a lake echo of episodes we’ve had before, and I just don’t enjoy it.

- Small pro: Dean finally tells Sam the truth about his weird Amara connection, and Sam is super chill about it even though he’s worried. Honesty, friends.

Hell's Angel

- Shut up Cassifer!

Alpha and Omega

- yeah I mentioned this before, but I need to double down on the BMOL eating up screen time and the easy Chuck and Amara solution.

Ok, so movies you watched as a kid?

Run-down time

Major spoilers for certain movies so I'll cut

BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA

I loved this movie, and still do. Delgado's character is *chef's kiss*. I think the first movie is better than the sequels. The human cast for the first one was great but they changed the cast for the second movie.

Aunt's niece stays to dogsit for her rich aunt while she's in Europe. Rachel takes the dog with her and her friends to Mexico. Chloe is dognapped. Brought to the dog fights. Introducing Delgado's character. Depressed middle-aged brooding ex-cop. Opens the cage(though if he could do that why didn't he do it a long time ago??). Saves Chloe from el Diablo (the Doberman) but not before letting all the other dogs escape. Carries Chloe -scales barbed wire fence and hauls over it- in what can only be described as the coolest dog move ever. A roller coaster of emotions and then El Diablo finds Chloe and Delgado helps her hide in a museum until they're clear and he takes her to a pier where he goes to talk with his police dog cousins. The landscaper (Sam) and Rachel(the rich woman's niece) team up to find Chloe, and end up finding homes for two strays from the dogfights. THE TRAIN SCENE. Delgado takes Chloe to a train yard where they meet a coyote. No, seriously I love the detail where the coyote is a literal coyote. Delgado puts Chloe on the train and tells her he isn't coming with her. The train leaves. 'don't turn around don't turn around' *turns around* 'Delgado!' 'Chloe!' 'Delgado!' *jumps on - slips* 'Hold on, I'll pull you up' Delgado, scrabbling around trying to push himself up, 'STOP HELPING STOP HELPING' They end up jumping off the train and walking in circles in the desert. Chloe realizes Delgado has no sense of smell. Cue the backstory about how he lost it to Diablo. They're attacked by mountain lions(I'm pretty sure cougars are solitary so I'm not exactly sure why a pride/band was hunting them, I think it was just for plot reasons). THE ABSOLUTE DUSTSTORM OF CHIHUAHUAS. Love Montezuma. The Chihuahua City. Also Papi. These movies were not so vaguely racist.

The rest of the movie was great.

2. Bolt

I LOVED this one.

A TV show in a movie.

Bolt's nose is like the size of Wyoming. His superpowers are so cool. PENNY!!! (she got captured in the show) The cats. *Escapes*

STYROFOAM -- IT WEAKENS ME

Mittens.

The scene where he runs straight into a fence.

The pigeons helping him.

No, you got to twist, then pull.

I can confirm this is a method I use for stuck things all the time and it does work.

Where he gets the leash stuck around him and Mittens. *Holds mittens over the side of a highway* Another great train scene.

Jumps out the back of a truck.

'What is this red liquid oozing out of my paw?'

'It's blood, you idiot'

*Stomach growls*

'You evil agent of the green-eyed man poisoned me, where is the antidote?!!'

*Brings him to a campground/Trailer park/cookout* 'There's your antidote' (it's food)

Mittens has to teach him how to beg.

RHINO (I love him)

The journey scene was amazing.

The carboard boxes.

The song.

The trailer.

Playing with the labrador.

Dude when they get captured by animal control.

They literally blew up the pound.

When Bolt gets to Hollywood and thinks Penny replaced him.

Mittens going to 'get back in there'

The fire scene

twas perfection.

The mom quits and throws the agent out of the ambulance.

And then domestic life.

'I thought I lost you when you ran away and tried to find me'

3. Moana.

Literally the only time I ever cried during a movie was when the dog got shot protecting the little girl as a police dog

SaL anon here friend and sorry I've been quiet all week. I was away for a family thing till Saturday and returned with a fucking fever so am swearing off travel, maybe forever. Anyway loved last week's LS episode since we managed to get good storylines for many of the up-until-now side-lined characters. A Paul love interest?? YES, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YES!!! Grace being the cutest, most concerned (and gorgeous, let's be honest) mom to every kid in trouble?? Love to see it (and Judd with baby

Charlie of course). And as for Marjan, God that was heartbreaking. She really went through it but stuck to her principles, gotta love her for that. And while it's optimistic of me to think they won't just forget about her and have her reappear when convenient (I know you know what show I'm glaring at), i have high hopes we'll get to see some of her journey as she finds her way back and that they'll make it a good one. As for this week, well hopefully this FBI nonsense will be at the end of it?? Fingers crossed. We haven't even gotten to talk about OG's return next week and Buck being lightninged and possibly comaed!! This obviously has a lot of potential (especially to see Maddie outside of dispatch and her house) and the Buckley parents visit during it could be interesting, i'm mostly worried about how KR plans to tie this in to the sperm donor nonsense. Anyway maybe a longer ask for later!!

Last week's episode WAS really good! (With the glaring exception that there was ZERO mention of what happened with Carlos the week before. Like, we didn't need a whole thing but not even a mention? Very much hoping it comes up this week at least in passing until we get to actually deal with it. I'm sure we will, I just haaaaate when shows have something huge happen and then forget about it for weeks until it's plot convenient again. ANYWAY) I LOVED that we finally got some focus on other characters. I always liked the idea of Marjan and Paul together if the show decided to go that route, but if not (or at least not for right now), I'm absolutely on board with this new woman for him! Their scenes were SO CUTE and he was all flustered when she recognized him and I would like more of that for him! He deserves to be flirted with until he's flustered and full of butterflies!

Grace continues to be the best person around, and her and Judd's relationship is just SUCH a highlight ever episode. He's SO supportive and wonderful, and so so good with babies, and young boys who've had a traumatic day alike. Plus the Tommy and Grace friendship?! *chef's kiss* It's so so so important to me and their scenes always hit so good! Also, any time they want to have Grace singing again, I am ON BOARD! Her voice is absolutely lovely, and her smile could power the whole of Austin.

As for Marjan, this episode was so tough because she was SO sincere and didn't let the team or anyone try to let her off the hook, she realized that in the heat of the moment and trying to get herself and the victim to safety, she said something hurtful and she owned that. She didn't try to make excuses (like, "we were going to die if we didn't get out in the next 30 seconds" which as far as reasonable explanations go is a pretty damn good one), she just apologized from the heart and was ready to take whatever reprimand the department handed down. And even when it was clear those people were NOT upset about what Marjan said and were just looking for a way to get some money when they found out she was "famous", Marjan still apologized for what she said and meant it. I LOVE that she stuck to her guns though and didn't cave to their demands that she try to use her status to get money from her followers, and wouldn't let the department use her and her followers either as an easy out to avoid a lawsuit. (Sidebar, WHERE is her union rep because I'm pretty sure the department leaving her out to dry like that if the didn't cave to extortion is like....not legal but I guess for the *drama* I'll let it go.)

My only major worry about this storyline is how the post mortem interviews said it was the last we would see of Marjan for "awhile", which does NOT inspire confidence that we'll see this as an evolving story. It's far more likely that we'll get nothing (or next to nothing) until the episode she returns and then we'll see flashes of her time away. Which is a bit of a bummer to me because I really love her as a character, but given that the show has not been able to manage having emergency calls because they're working in too much plot, it might be for the best, but still sad not to have her around! I do think that the end result of that journey is going to be some good storytelling for her character and I'm excited to see how it wraps up!

I am just....SO bored and tired of this FBI storyline so the sooner it wraps up and the less time I have to waste watching it the better. I'm crossing fingers with you that it's not just like...the whole episode. I don't think my soul can take it! And it's irritating because Owen was SO good this week when he was there to support Marjan, and so funny in the whole montage interview with Asha. And he's actually been really funny with O'Brian too, I just wish it was about their DAY jobs and not Owen's fantasy of moonlighting as a detective or something. IDK why the show seems to hate having Owen do fire captain related things because I really enjoy his character in that role and his dynamics with the rest of the team are fun to watch! Stop shipping him off to spend all his time with random side characters and show him interacting with his team! And is SON ffs. At least we can look forward to him and Andrea becoming FotG/MotG-zillas and trying to take over the wedding which I'm sure will be a lot of fun to watch!

I still can't think too hard about the sperm donor thing or I loose all hope and sense of decorum and become a screaming rage monster, especially knowing it's for sure dragging out the whole mother effing season. HOWEVER, putting that nonsense aside, I'm trying and failing to manage my expectations for the OG coming back. Like, this lightning storm looks SO GOOD already, and knowing we've got Brad and JCC back for a team up on a disaster already has me vibrating with excitement, but seeing the stills has got me HYPED. I'm for sure trying to keep my expectations for Buddie stuff down, but I'll be thrilled to just get a few episodes that aren't boring filler and this looks like it could be a return to peak 911 vibes for the whole group, even if it's just for an episode. So fingers crossed about all that. I'm excited!! And I'm here if you've got more rambling leading up to our original flavor wee woos coming back!

Quick gay movies reviews

It's Pride, so I'm watching a gay movie a day to keep the heteros away. I'm going to do this once a week to review the movies I watched. Also going to discuss Heartstopper since I watched it right before Pride started. Hopefully I don't forget any, but I most likely will:

FIre Island

Really cute. Definitely meant for adults. It's a great adaptation of Pride + Prejudice. I do find it funny that the movie points out that racism, especially Anti-Asian sentiments, in the gay community, and how white men are treated like the prize to win, and the most liked gifsets on here are for the side character who ended up being a rapist. Anyway, Conrad Ricamora is a dreamboat. I also loved the little bit in the middle where the soundtrack was Kim Petras, Perfume Genius, and then Alvvays. Chef's kiss.

Maurice

Hugh Grant was very pretty in this movie, which is surely why most of the images I've seen of this film are of him, but his character was annoying. I loved that the conflict later on became about Maurice dating someone who was of a lower class than he, rather than the drama about him being gay. I wish the movie had kept the epilogue where the sisters accept Maurice since they realize he's happy. The movie was gorgeous to look at. The directing was beautiful.

Jongens

I can see why this movie was titled Boys, since they are literally children. I wish we had more background on why the lead was afraid to come out and why he played straight until the end. It felt more of just general culture, but it's never really brought up. It just seemed to be there to add drama for the love story, but I wish we had seen that maybe his brother or his dad was slightly homophobic if we was going to be in the closet. I do realize this was written by a straight woman I believe, and I'll talk more about that in my Beach Rats review. Either way, this movie was fine. I think I'm just too old for this whole closeted kid plot, and I just wish we understood why he was in the closet besides societal pressures when no one seemed to care.

Breaking Fast

I remembered the lead from Those People, and I liked him better there. I don't know how I felt about these leads being not like other gays. It felt like it painted every other gay character who wasn't the lead and his love interest as shallow, idiotic, and horny. But not these two! They like cooking together and don't drink or have sex! I think they should've skipped the religious debate if they weren't going to expand beyond some people were hurt by Islam so they left the religion, but Islam itself isn't inherently homophobic. I think that people constantly try to have it both ways sometimes, but you can't really act like conservative religious folks in Middle-Eastern countries who throw gay men off buildings aren't actually followers of their religion, much as Christians saying homophobes don't represent their religion or their attempt to make their holy text seem more progressive than it actually is.

Fun Fact: One of the men in the choir during the birthday scene is actually an acquaintance. Hey, David!

Handsome Devil

I actually really enjoyed this movie, but I felt it was slightly neutered. I didn't care that the leads didn't end up together because I do think it's important that queer people can just be friends. I also don't think the movie ever states if the lead is actually gay or if he just doesn't care if he's labeled as such. I did zone out during the rugby parts, but the coach was very annoying. I do wish the English teacher and his boyfriend had actually touched at least. I did wonder if this movie inspired Alice Oseman to make Heart/Stopper since they're both about a rugby player befriending the outcast, but both projects were probably written around the same time so it's coincidence.

Matthias et Maxime

What was the directing at parts of this movie? The random dramatic zoom-ins took me out. I did like the openended nature of Matt showing up right before Max goes to the airport, and I also liked Max finding the drawing Matt made of them as farmers together. I think it's interesting to think that they might actually be gay/bi but in denial due to societal norms seen by the way the one more effete member of their friend group is bullied and called a fag by the rest. I will say that if any of the characters besides Max and Matt were in a slasher flick, they'd all die. Finally, that scene where Matt kisses Max's birthmark was super-hot, and that's all I say about it.

Beach Rats

While I did like that this movie gave a motivation for why our lead didn't come out, this whole movie was pretty hard to watch for me. And it wasn't because of the homophobia he faced, but because I find everyone in it prickly and awful. The best person was probably his beard, but even she had issues. I also despised the ending with the gay-bashing.

Like I mentioned earlier, this movie was written by a cishet woman, which is completely fine, but I generally find that cishet people, when writing queer characters, focus on suffering. Matthias et Maxime was also about sexuality, but it's told in a more mature way since the people working on it are actually queer. This movie seemed to be about a closeted boy (the movie makes sure to show his limp dick when having sex with a girl and his erection when he's with a man), but they focus so much on his internal struggle that it just feels like I myself am being tortured. At the end, it seems like he decides to bury himself in the closet since his friends kill a gay man over weed (which itself was ridiculous. For weed? Lordt).

I also just wanted to point out how much I hated this era of electronic music. It's so ugly-sounding to me. That scene on the boat with all the Skrillex style beats made me want to shut off this movie, especially since the whole flick made me uncomfortable (like why were there so many longing shots of prepubescent people?). Overall, do not recommend this one at all, but that's my personal taste.

HeartStopper

I was very surprised to come on here and read some of the discourse people have been having on this series. People on here are seriously angry that an LGBT show aimed at a younger audience exists, mocking it for not having drug use, sex, nudity, or a lot of swearing. I think there is a time and place for all of that, and you all know that shows like Sex Education, Elite, and Euphoria exist, right? This show is for actual 12-18 year olds who are still discovering themselves, and it's meant to assure them that there's nothing wrong with them and they deserve love.

I've also been confused on people saying this show sanitizes discrimination when we have characters like Ben who are afraid to be out due to how aggressive Henry (Harry?) is, Elle being bullied and ostracized for being trans, and a whole episode dedicated to people's lesbophobia affecting Tara.

Overall, this show felt truer to my own experiences at that age than most of the series I've seen about 15-17 year olds. I also just really enjoyed it and thought it was cute. It's a show I wish I had had when I was struggling with the closet when I was Charlie's age. And to me, it being family friend is actually a bonus, so I can suggest it to my sister as a show for their young boys to watch instead of something like 13 Reasons Why, which is a sensationalized soap opera that uses scandalizes premises to generate buzz much. I'd much rather watch a show where two boys fall in love, befriend a lesbian couple from their sister school, and then join forces to setup their trans friend and her crush.

Sometimes, I just need something wholesome, and sometimes, I need something like Fire Island. And some of you seriously need a reality check if you think it's a bad thing for a major streaming service to make a rated PG show about LGBT teens when previously anything that hinted at LGBT people was automatically rated R.

This is one of my favourite currently-reading Isekai series. There’s a lot of interesting characters, world building and political intrigue. You have a protagonist who uses her skills as an accountant in her past life and her position of power within the kingdom to try and better the lives of people around her. There’s also some tragic overlap where you want to see this very driven woman take a step back and take care of herself for once. You see her overworking herself and remember she died young from overwork last time (a common isekai trope because it’s...sadly common in Japan that work/life balance sucks), but her companions find it difficult to talk her out of it because she feels like this time she has a purpose outside of corporate grind.

She also was dealt a bad hand in romance and has resolved to spend her life “alone” (ie, unmarried). She’s surrounded by friends and family, and loves spending time incognito amongst her people and taking care of the orphans. So when she starts catching feelings for a man who can meet her at her level intellectually and in drive she starts to despair because she doesn’t want this. She doesn’t want to be hurt again. He’s also much the same about her; due to his position he declares that “the woman I love, I shall never marry” because he doesn’t want to see her stifled under the weight of his responsibilities. He wants to see her continue to grow and flourish in her freedom.

And in the background there’s what you could call a cold war going on. 30 years ago the countries of Tasmeria & Tweil signed and armistice to end the fighting, but it didn’t end the war. Tensions are rising from within and without and there are spies pulling the strings on both sides.

It’s kind of amazing ho much happens in these books? Like, I’ve only read 3 books in the series (4th came out in English last week, but my copy hasn’t arrived yet) and so many things have happened. Each book has it’s own focus, yes, but it’s very much an ongoing narrative. There’s no “hard stop” between books, it’s more like a “Life continues” sort of feel.

And by the way, there’s a manga adaptation that is pretty well done! It has lovely art and manages to capture the characters well. But, as I said, since SO MUCH HAPPENS IN THE LIGHT NOVELS the pace is much slower because there’s so many events to adapt. As such, it takes 3 volumes of manga just to get through the first book. So, while I prefer the novels, the manga is good too! It has very pretty art.

UPDATE July 4, 2022

With the final volume being released in regards to Iris’ story and arc I will now proceed to continue to shout and cry about how this is my absolute favourite Isesai series!

Seeing her change the world for the better and for herself was a very satisfying read. Especially because these changed were not made through force, but intellect and a sense of community! She inexplicably and unintentionally challenged the conventional gender norms of her world with her accomplishments and success. And up until this point, she had been ready to step down when it was expected, and continue doing good elsewhere, through her company and her own means. But, in the end, she’s able to keep the position she’s earned.

Love love love this story, and how it kept me enthralled with the accounting/economic through-line of the plot. Also Iris & Dean being two math nerds in love is just *chef’s kiss*

IN THIS HOUSE WE LOVE POWERFUL LADIES! WHETHER THEIR POWER LIES IN THEIR PHYSICAL, MENTAL, OR CREATIVE PROWESS!!

I’m excited to read the following volumes which will be about Iris’ mother’s childhood. Merellis was already a compelling character in the first arc and discovering in this 5th volume just how much she does behind the scenes makes me excited to know all the details of her youth.

Magnum P.I. 4.19 - The Long Sleep review

So yeah.

We be canon now.

(At least spoken feels be canon.)

I am still shook. And I’m pretty sure next week is either going to be the most amazing episode ever or it will kill me.

Or both. Quite possibly both.

Before we go into the main case and the Miggy... let me just say how adorable this episode was over all and just the big Ohana vibes.

Cabe and TC just -chef’s kiss on everything.

(Seriously, can TC adopt me?)

Rick and Suzy at the end, her craving pickles (which you know a little cliche but still so funny) and being all “we gonna be good at this” and even the case-guy feeling like maybe his granddad’s would have wanted him to seek more adventure and Kumu being all “a good quiet life is what most people want” and maybe the guy realizing that but also maybe wanting a bit more adventure. Just all around the wholesome and heartwarming experience I want when I put on a Magnum PI episode.

(Side note: Saw the newest Fantastical Beast movie. I’m not sure what I think about it at all but I do know it was a mess, even if it did have some sprinkles of the Harry Potter magic just because IDK? Hogwarts? But the reptile horse was super cute and I still find Newt adorable as heck. Also Nifflers are the best.)

Case - memory loss, blood and diamonds and a dead long lost grandfather

I feel like premises / plot of like a bunch of 80/90s spy/heist movies, but cute and adapted for TV! In a good way.

This guy was clearly in trouble from the second this woman came over to talk to him. Like the warning bells were going off big time. And yes, at the end of the ep. she does try to gut him while he’s still alive and kicking...

The gutting him alive is so weird and crazy to me. Because there is one thing to drug one guy and shoot another to try to steal (back) a diamond her dad helped steal (I guess), another to start rooting around in a guy’s intestines. Like come on, just buy the guy some prune juice and let nature takes its course?? Work smarter - not bloodier!

But you know, guess there was a time crunch and for the end of the ep we had to have a dramatic near death/rescue scene, so I forgive them!

So yeah, case was fine, I like the wacky ones and we had our babies working together with no fuss or muss.

(Which is what I want to see in season 5 especially if we get canon Miggy soon. We can have Miggy and still have Magnum and Higgins investigations! They can still bicker even if they’re dating! Come on, people bicker more when they’re together, even! It’s jut s a good reason for more banter!)

I really was more invested in Magnum and Higgins and Cade/TC/Grandma plot, but the case-guy (was his name Greg? I feel like it was) was weirdly sympathetic and I liked the fact that this was a good case of ‘need a PI not the cops’ and that they didn’t involve HPD until they needed to. Lia was back and I do hope she’s there for the finale also. It be funny if there was the exact flipped Cole scenario with Juliet being ready to ask Magnum out and he’s all “meeting Lia in five, what can I do for you” (but it’s obviously case related but could be fun. Which by I mean, torture. But the fun kind.)

Now onto the Miggy...

You could buy a decent used car for that price!

(So I’m not sure what Magnum deems ‘a decent car’, but yes, agree, strollers are ridiculously expensive.)

Other than the weirdly long intro with the guy/future client at the bar, we starting the episode of strong with Rick and Magnum looking at strollers and being hilarious - quickly taking us to a full on Magnum confession of feelings which gets the “Gad finally, you were like the last to know” thing from Rick! I cannot believe he actually went “we have a texting thread about you guys“ - that is just... well it prove Rick, TC and Kumu are basically us (the viewers)!!! We had some of this from the sneak peek but the full thing was much better.

So that’s Magnum admitting not only to himself but to Rick that he has feelings for Juliet. I was like My God! What is happening? This can’t be happening! Now we’re sure to get the episode ending with Juliet going on her stupid picnic with Cole!

Is that what we get?

NO!

What do you want Juliet?

No. We get Juliet visiting our favorite head-doctor and doing basically the same thing. Just while being more freaked.

So while Magnum’s confession of having feelings for Juliet at the start was very nice, he’s clearly been thinking it over since coming to this realization in the last episode (so possibly a week or two yeah?) He basically just wanted to tell Rick so he’d get a little push to go ask Juliet out. Magnum got himself sort of figured out and wants to act.

Juliet? Our little baby Juliet? Well, she not so sure.

But her telling Dr. Ogawa “I can't have magnum -of all people- on my mind all the time” and “I can’t risk it” and ‘what if he won’t ask again?what if I closed the door’ etc, that was her genuinely being in that very confused state emotional. Yet, part of her must have known that she too would get that push to face her feelings, as her doc is a total shipper! But she was much more torn and I just enjoyed that scene tremendously. Not even minding the episode ending on the question of what do you want Juliet? because the answer is obvious!

(Also, I will forever love the “...the idea of spending the day with Magnum was more appealing than a picnic with Cole...” bit. Like, well, duh, of course it is. And how Perdie always does this thing when she’s at the Ogawa’s office where she is just awkward like because for Higgy this would be so awkward. Not sure what it is, like her whole body is just screaming don’t want to be here somehow. Actors are cool.)

So you’re saying you just didn’t have any better options?

So the two Miggy scenes we actually get is firstly him asking her out and Cole’s stupid picnic getting in the way. (Though can we just talk about how sweet him just watching her with a longing look and sigh in the wine cellar was? I NEED gifs)

(Also this top - I have on super similar to it from H&M! I imagine hers is more fancy and she def. looks better in it. Still, fun!)

Then in the car with her asking, well, why he asked her to hang out.

Leading to Magnum being all “well TC was doing this with Cade and Rick was baby shopping-” and she purposely misunderstands and goes with the whole “so I was your last option?” because at this point, she’s been thinking about it the whole day. And she is both scared and hoping that he did asked her out.

And when Higgy is hopeful or scared, she goes for sarcastic.

Then he goes “no, no that’s not what I meant” and she’s happy. Because that means he did ask because he wanted to just spend the day with her.

But she’s also scared. Still, I’m glad she says ‘I’m kidding’ even with that I loved that he’s trying to explain it while going ‘dang that came out wrong what do say?’.

Also I think if the phone call hadn’t come in... his explanation would have gone something like “No, but them spending time with the people that make them happy, I realized I wanted to spend time with the person who makes me happy too.” Or maybe that’s just some wishful thinking on my part...

What does this mean?

While my Miggy heart is so happy... tad bit nervous at this, because Jay always said we’d get Miggy - but only for the last episode. That the show would be over once they got together. (Then again, Jay isn’t writing the show, so the Magnum Higgins relationship development is not really up to him, now is it?)

Question is, is that what we’re getting next week?

I think it almost have to be. Why else have the both of them sort of come to term, or state their feelings so clearly, in the very same episode? If they did not have something specific planed for next week I’m not sure why they would do that.

So either 4.20 is the series finale and they knew and decided to give Miggy their HEA as it ends (which I don’t think as we keep getting ‘season finale’ on promos and stuff + because rating be real good for a Friday night show) or perhaps they’ve been told season 5 will be their last one and are setting up their final endgame well in advance?

So maybe season 4 will end with a our long awaited (real) Miggy kiss

(thought this one still haunts me)

and the early season 5 will be them figuring themselves out and we get something dramatic closer to the end and the god damned proposal (at pillbox? because currently that is all we can think about...or you know, while arguing in the Ferrari or during a shoot out. I’d be good with that too).

In fact, I feel like we need that engagement/wedding story-line because we got both Juliet’s engagement to Richard which ended with him dead, Magnum’s to Hannah which ended when she betrayed him and then the Magnum and Higgins’ faux wedding! So a real wedding or at least them getting engaged at the end of season 5 that feels like it would take things full circle somehow.

4.20 thoughts

Just watched the promo for 4.20, and I do think they’re teasing us with the whole “Magnum, I need to tell you something” I don’t think it’s feelings related. I mean this balcony is a very random place and I don’t think that’s how either one of them would do it. It also has a very weird and kind of depressing lighting about it, like end of the world vibes big time.

I just think this conversation is going to turn out to be case related or something. But they both look very tense, and expectant but really they can make promos seem like anything and everything is going down.

Then again, if something serious is about to happen - which, it is the season finale so totally possible - maybe she’d want to say something before he goes undercover or throws himself into danger? Not sure.

Or she will tell him and he’ll smile all ‘omg I can’t believe she beat me to it’ and she’ll misunderstand his smile or silence and someone will come interrupt that they have to go on the mission and then we get their reunion and he’ll be about what you said before ‘I feel the same way’ and we get a kiss on the beach or whatever and it’s ever so romantic and yes, my Miggy colored glasses are turning Magnum PI into a romantic comedy. But our babies deserve to be happy!

(Or this one where she goes to knock on his door could be feelings. But a call from Gordon will come interrupt her before she can say anything and then we maybe have it through the episode. It could be kind of funny with like they’re both trying to figure out how to admit it to the other one and they both keep getting interrupted!!)

At the same time, for all we know, she could be telling him that her dad just died and she has to leave to go to England for the summer to bury him or something. That would be on par with the past few season... (But please, dear god, let it not be that!!!)

Anyhow, as it’s going to be the last ep. for a good long while, I’m torn between utter excitement, fear and sadness. But with the last few episodes having been so good and the Miggy, I’m mostly excited though!

I wouldn't say much – I love NaruSaku and I hate to see great works shadowed behind the piles of popular NS stories that I never have liked as much except for a few, which also I'll drop below in the list.

I'll update this list whenever I come across a story that I particularly enjoy or finds worth spreading word across. So be sure to like and reblog this post so you can revisit it to add new story in your reading pile later.

How the little blond boy Sakura had always known had changed, changing as well her feelings. The unfolding of their life, while Naruto worked to become the best Hokage and she faced her own emotions. Growing Love.

(I have nothing but upmost reverence for this story. This author writes one of the nest NS and I have loved all. NS is beautiful and Sakura is badass. Everything we already know is here and more.)

Dangerous infiltration mission: Krapo || ff.net || M || complete

Naruto and Sakura are send by the Hokage for a difficult infiltration mission. They will have to face more than just the danger itself as they will have to keep their cover to be fake husband and wife credible. how it will impact the relationship between the two ninja. Growing Love. Misunderstanding.

Sasuke come back, Team seven is reunited. But Sakura has lost Naruto. How will she make him fall in love with her again? What other difficulties lies ahead of them?

(Naruto loses memory. SasuSaku angst but not in romantic sense and I loved it all. Misunderstanding and more mutual pining. And I'm in love with this story too.)

Life was going great, Sakura thought. She was penniless, stranded in Europe without a way home, her fiancee had just dumped her for another woman AND her new companion was quite possibly a thief. How could things get any worse? Wait...was that guy pointing a gun at her?

(Now, personally, I don't prefer modern AU, but this story really had interesting characterisation and more character depth. NaruSaku is pretty spot on. It also features SasuHina and bamf!Hinata)

The greatest pretenders: snowyseas || ff.net || M || Borutoverse || ongoing

Fifteen years is a long time to not talk to someone you consider your best friend, and is made even more difficult when they (and you) are married. The things Sakura should have confronted Naruto about never came to fruition, but as an old saying goes, "the truth will always be revealed".

(Your typical I-made-a-wrong-choice-but-now-can-be-done story but unlike many other stories in this they don't admit their love for each chapter at the first chapter itself. In fact, it feels so canon and you can almost superimpose it upon the canon. Sakura is mentally strong and knows what's right. )

He was the sun: SavageTrickster || ff.net || T || Canonverse || ongoing

He had come a long way - from a lonely orphan ostracized by everyone to a loved hero. He deserved all these. His Hokage dream to come true. All the ramen he could eat. - Her eyes fell on a certain Hyuuga seated close enough for accidental touches. Her heart sank a little at a harsh whisper of reminder - And a deserving girl...who could give him all her love.

(So far so good. It's ongoing, and is at chapter 3. Sakura leaves Konoha much like how Naruto did, to explore the world aka seeing my headcanon in writing.)

Wilderness: Kanji no Sakka || M || canondivergent || ongoing

As the war screeches to a temporary halt, Naruto leaves the battlefield on a unique mission only he can complete. Sakura is ordered to go with him. In the days that follow their bond is changed forever.

(Although I hate any explicit stories that involve characters below age 17, I give this a pass because of the uniqueness of plot and characterisation. It has fine lemons that comes with a good plot.)

How It Should Have Been: OfPaintAndOil || ff.net || T || canon divergent || oneshot

It wasn't supposed to be this way. Sasuke was supposed to be the dark one, the unredeemable one. Naruto was the bright one, the good one. It wasn't supposed to be like this, with blood on his hands and glowing red eyes and a grin. Naruto was supposed to make everything better, and maybe he did, in the end, but Sakura had never expected the end to look quite like this.

(Featuring Yandere!Naruto. It leaves you wanting for more and is a fascinating read. It's dark themed so proceed with caution as your favorite character might or might not be dead.)

The Best Dates are the Cheap Ones: Shivakashi || ff.net || T || post!Timeskip || Oneshot

The whole point was to get the best date; that meant the richest and classiest guy, right? Sakura realizes what she has taken for granted and Ino learns a lesson in value.

(Sakura learns her lesson and snatches her boy. InoNaru is worth noting. Not the best characterisation of Sakura but bear with her jealousy for that is the reason why NS fluff exists. Story itself is very light and entertaining.)

mangoes and strawberries: ohthelinsanity || ff.net || T || postwar || oneshot

Sakura Haruno was elbow deep in Naruto Uzumaki's guts when he asked her to marry him. It was so not the right time. But she still said yes.

(This story just screams NS upon every single line. Diabetes warning. Too cute for this world. One of the best NS fluff I've read thus far. It kinda sticks to you forever!)

18 minutes, 23 seconds: ohthelinsanity || ff.net || T || postwar || oneshot

in which Naruto asks Sakura about that time she literally reached into his chest and grabbed his heart with her bare hand.

(Heartwarming. We all know how Sakura held Naruto's heart on her palms and how we love that moment. This is memory of that moment reminisced by our cutie pies.)

One Big Uzumaki Family: John Smith || ff.net || T || postwar || Complete

A set of drabbles revolving around Naruto, Sakura, and their children. It turns out that, when the war ends, these two get busy. Real busy.

Sasuke is back. Naruto has joined ANBU. Sakura is spending more time in the hospital than in the field. Team 7 struggles to redefine itself, because sometimes you don't know what you really want after all.

self indulgent

I've been sad. so i wrote a thing to make me less sad. maybe it'll make someone else less sad too or at the very least they can laugh at my “cringe” but either way it did make me less sad so goal accomplished.

Mc and jumin organize a bookshelf jumin asks what neko girls are and MC short circuits his brain for a couple of seconds. no smut just fluff

Moving hadn’t taken long. You had opted to donate your furniture to the local homeless shelter since Jumin’s penthouse was furnished with the highest quality furniture you could dream of. Honestly most of your things paled in comparison to the lavish goods Jumin considered tawdry. Still there were a quite a few boxes you had decided to save, filled mostly with sentimental keepsakes and the few odds and ends that catered to your specific tastes. You were practically finished by noon save the three or four boxes that sat in the main room next to the larger than life bookshelves. Certainly there was plenty of room on them. You never where a fan of negative space on bookshelves but if you were being completely honest that had more to do with how many books you needed to fit in such a finite space. Jumins bookshelves had plenty of room with just enough negative space to look perfectly balanced and while you knew Jumin had told you to do whatever you wished this felt intimate. Bookshelves where holy spaces after all, housing books that change hearts and minds alike that shape the soul and … okay so maybe you just really liked books and that made them seem important to you either way this was definitely something you wanted to do with Jumin. When you heard the door rattle with Jumin homecoming you bolt towards it excited to greet him after work.

“Jumin! Welcome home!” you cried bouncing in place as he made his way inside. You smiled as you saw the creases in his brown flatten and the stress slip from shoulders when he saw you. You waited all of 5 seconds for him to close the door giving you both some privacy from the bodyguards stationed outside before you pounced, leaping upon the business man wrapping your arms around his neck. You delighted in the deep honey of his laughter as he caught your waist in kind and kissed the top of your head gently.

“darling. I’m so glad to be home. How was your day? did you get settled?” Jumin asked as you pulled yourself back slightly giving him room to loosen his tie and set aside his coat.

“everything is in its place except um Jumin there is one thing I need if you don’t mind”

“name it and its yours”

“I wanted to share your bookshelves and I was hoping that maybe you could organize the books with me?” you admitted shyly. It had seemed like such a good idea in the beginning he could show you his favorite books, walk you through his favorite plots and tell you his favorite quotes and you could do the same with him. Yet now as you presented the idea to him you worried. What if he was to tired he had worked all day after all, what if he thought you too needy, or your books to childish. what if he didn’t want your books displayed in the living room because they weren’t very pretty, all of his books where gorgeous leather bound tomes or mint condition hardcovers, yours where second hand at best many where decommissioned library books or garage sale rescues, broken in battered and bruised by years of use. It would make sense to have them put away in a back room where they couldn’t tarnish the pristine collection Jumin had on display. Perhaps you where spiraling, working yourself into a nervous frenzy in the span of a few seconds.

“nothing would make me happier love. We can call the chef to start dinner and begin emptying the shelves for rearranging while he works.” You couldn’t help the smile that spread across your face or the giggle that escaped your lips. The surprise on Jumins face was evident if only for a second before it gave way to a warm sort of fondness. “had I known simple redecorating would make you this happy I would have stayed home and done it all with you” he said affectionately running his fingers through your hair.

“it’s not that I just,” you paused face flushing a bit “books are a big deal, ya know? My dad used to tell me that every book you read becomes a part of you and that you can learn more about someone by the books they love than by the words they say so I wanted to share that with you” jumins eyes where so soft and gentle in that moment you felt your breath hitch “I want to know everything about you and, and I want you to know everything about me” suddenly his lips where on yours fervent and full of passion the hand that had been in your hair now on your chin guiding you too him. The kiss was short and when you parted from him he stayed close, just a hairs breath from your face.

Jumin voice was little more than a whisper as he asked “how is it that every day I manage to fall more in love with you?” you couldn’t help but lean forward and kiss him again an all too familiar giddiness bubbling its way through your soul. You loved this man more than life itself and you knew that would never change.

“so your ‘Encyclopedia of Fairies’ should go next to the Catherynne M Valente series so we can reference it while reading agreed?” you giggled thrilled that his collection of mythological reference books slotted together with your fae fiction so perfectly. Puzzle pieces connecting to create a masterpiece.

“yes I think that’s perfect. I can’t wait to read her interpretation of such ancient mythos. I also have ‘The World Guide to Gnomes, Fairies, Elves and Other Little People’ if you’d like to add it to that shelf” he said grinning like a child at show and tell.

“oh my goodness yes! That’s perfect and your book on Romanian vampires should be near my ‘Dracula’ and ‘vittorio’ that way that shelf over there can be dedicated to the occult, hauntings, and psychic reference books”

“that sound wonderful and takes care of all the written word but we still haven’t found a place for your comics” Jumin informed glancing toward the woefully large stack of manga you had brought.

“not comic Jumin manga and yeah I think we’re out of space though. I um I didn’t think I had that many books. Sorry” you admitted not meeting his eyes. He tilted your head up to look at him.

“there’s no need to apologize it simply means that tomorrow we can go shopping for another shelf and the next day we can organize those. I’m quite curious about ‘la petite cossette’ you said these where Japanese but that is most certainly a French title.”

“oh I actually think you’d like that one a lot it’s about a man who falls in love with a woman in a cursed portrait its actually pretty tragic in the end.”

“How interesting” he mused retrieving it from the pile of books and skimming through it “the art is truly enchanting and you said that manga has its own subculture?”

“yeah from neko girls to shonen action tropes it has its own vocabulary, history and groups of people its really fun”

“neko girls?” Jumin repeated and your eyes widened at his confusion. This was definitely something he of all people should know about! You jumped up and sprinted to the closet you had filled earlier that day with the few cosplay supplies you had. At the time it had taken nearly half your pay check but if Jumin liked them right now the purchase then would be completely justified. You put on your surprise as quickly as possible before rushing back out to greet Jumin who had just made it to the edge of the living room to come find where you had gone. He froze for a second processing what you were now wearing. White cat ears that moved and twitched fairly believably and just as he was able to cope with that your made paws with your hands and tried your best “nya”. For a moment you feared you may have broken him. He didn’t move his face blank, eyes fixed on you. You tried again hoping to spur some sort of reaction from him “nya?” you said turning to the side slightly to show off the other half of your surprise a white tail complete with pink bow and bell at the base where it attached to your skirt. You tilted your head to look up at him through your lashes trying every trick in your arsenal to look as cute as possible but nothing. He was completely frozen. “Jumin? Hello?” now you were getting worried “darling are you okay?” you asked placing the back of your hand on his forehead to feel for a temperature. The second your hand touched him however his face flushed.

“neko girl.” He muttered “that’s neko as in cat” you could see him trying to calm himself. Fiddling with his shirt sleeves and attempting to stay in control. You smiled standing on your tip toes to kiss his cheek and whisper in his ear.

“am I a good little kitten at least?” you couldn’t contain your giggle as you heard him choke slightly before scooping you up bridal style.

“certainly not, in fact I think you’ve been a very bad little kitten.” He said his voice deeper than normal as he carried you back towards the bedroom.

It's a wonder to many how Sally ended up with a girl like you. Sally was a wrecked soul made of ash and fire and the gasoline lighting it and tears and pained laughs. You were a hopeful wanderer made of soft kisses and poems and snowflakes and pretty fragile flower petals and innocence. Or maybe sweetness. Even though, you were a rabbit and Sally, a fox. Possessive and cunning over her prey.

You met when you went to the Cortez to get away from your past, from the people who hurt you, from her. Truth was you were terrified of anyone and everyone and... well she said she could protect you. You believed her too.

"Hey babydoll, why ya crying without a drink in your hand? After all, your at the bar and clearly because you don't want to be alone in your room," she spoke husky and blunt. You were awfully shy and you spooked easily.

"Oh I just, I'm not usually one to drink. It makes you do things," you whispered, still not meeting the ladies face. Your twiddling thumbs were looking awfully nice to you right now.

The truth was she was right, you didn't want to be alone. Not after the year of being alone with her. Though, the alcohol only served to remind you of her more, it was the only place you could go with people who you don't know. With people.

"Aw, that's okay. But c'mon I'll keep you some company, only if you let me buy you at least a little liquid courage. We can't have you being this shy with me the whole night," she ended her bargain with a deep chuckle. It was startling how quickly you agreed to her.

So making your decision you let out an okay and decided you should know what this person looks like at least.

Upon your scan of her you figured out 5 important things. 1. This woman was crying earlier and you knew because her eyeliner smudged and dripped in tracks. 2. She was wild. This was given by her frizzy blonde hair that looked as dead as her, yet so alive. 3. She had an odd sense of fashion that complimented her too perfectly. Her leopard print coat and older dress told you this one. 4. She holds more emotion in her brown eyes than in anyone else as a whole that you've ever seen. The fact that even with the immense amount of depth in them, you could still see a twinkle in the depth of them, shocked you. 5. She was and still is the most beautiful person you've ever seen and she's trouble.

"Okay, sure. Thanks," you exhaled. And thus you two were forever in each other's debts. For you both were never alone after that day.

"Hey sweets," you called out into room 64, "I brought you something!" You always felt bad for leaving her so you ended up getting her things that reminded you of her. This time it was a new guitar. Sure it was a little expensive but you didn't mind, you practically lived at the Cortez now and for almost free.

You, of course, know that Sally is a ghost and that she can never roam farther than a few steps out of the Cortez. It breaks your heart that you can't take her with you to explore the world you couldn't before but you just have to. Your ex never let you, so having a job and getting to actually do things was something you thought you would never be able to again. Yet here you are.

One problem, Sally doesn't like it either. It doesn't matter how many gifts you give, she just wants you. Her approaches aren't nearly as rough as your ex when she wants you to stay and she would never be too harsh with you. Or so you believe.

Sally had been plotting this night forever, she was gonna ask you to die tonight and stay with her forever. She needed you here. She needed you to stop leaving her.

Of course you were her precious angel and she understood that you loved exploring, but she could never shake the sense that you were too eager and would get yourself hurt or worse, killed. Then she would be alone forever again. She couldn't be alone and she had to make sure you stayed with her. So even if you didn't know better and wanted to still go out despite the danger, she had precautions in place to keep you safe.

So, this night had to be special and romantic. She had made your favorite meal, despite not being a master chef. She had set up a romantic scene in your room and it. Was. Perfect.

How could you say no after this?

"Hi babydoll. I made you dinner, your favorite Y/N," she appeared next to you. You made a slight jump, but collected yourself when you saw it.

"It's gorgeous," you gasped. Your eyes marveled at the candlelight, neat placement of the silverware, and your absolute fav dish on the table.

"The best for my babydoll," Sally smirked, kissing you on the cheek. You twiddle with your thumbs again.

"I'm sorry," you suddenly spoke, eyes downcast. Fear shot through your spine and your thoughts raced. Did I forget something important?!

"Hey, Y/N, look at me. I know that look what's wrong?" Sally's tone was soft and she added some comforting rubbing on your back to ease you.

"I- Did I forget something? I know your birthday's not today or our anniversary or-did we make plans? I can't remember. I'm so sorry, I promise I can do better," You said meekly and decidedly.

"Oh," Sally's heart broke. She hated when you got like this. So stiff and afraid if herself and all because of her. "Babydoll, I just wanted to do something special for you. Dont worry everything's gonna be just fine."

"Well..." you paused, relief had worked itself through you, "Thank you so much, this is so lovely. I love you so much Sally. I um, got you this," you handed her the new guitar.

It was light weighted and had a darker wood, practically perfect to Sally. At least... that was until she gazed upon the not so delicate etching in the side. Sally & Y/n 4ever. A message not long forgotten to her. You meant it too.

You made a deal that when you were ready, you would kill yourself to be with her at the Cortez. Till death do we not part, you had joked. It would be a day when you would at least be no younger than 30, you were 24 now.

So today was not that day. Or rather tonight.

But it didn't make the phrase any less emotional for Sally. Despite the agreement. So with shaky hands she reached out for the instrument.

"I love it baby," she whispered from her messily painted lips. Her fingers brushed across each copper string. They plucked one by one at it, each ringing out with the vibration. It was out of tune but surely nothing she couldn't fix. You must have gotten it at a pawn shop. Usually ones elsewhere come pretuned.

Relief flooded over you as you saw the smirk snake upon the ghost's lips. She did like it, good.

"Well as much as I would like to play this baby. I think you might be a little hungry, it is 10. Can't have my meal without her having hers first Y/n." Sally smirked at the way your cheeks went aflame.

"Okay," you whispered, looking at the table and sitting down. The ghost followed suit.

With a click, warmth was made from Sally's cig lighter.

Candlelight brightened the both of yours faces, adding a yellowish tint. This tint was especially viable upon Sally's pale face and the shadows stood in stark contrast, formed from her chiseled cheekbones.

They could cut you.

Knowing that Sally is impatient at times and was highly receptive to others actions and expressions, told you that briskly, you should tuck in. Boy did you tuck in.

The first bite was pure bliss. Enough so that a moan was let out and you craved more from the first touch to a tastebud.

Sally watched as pleased as can be. You liked her food, it was praise that came from your reaction and because of that she's happy.

The second bite happened after of course and this one tasted oddly different. Not bad, but as if it was bitter.

Then Sally ate, she chewed with a hum. Of course eating wasn't necessary, but anybody except some anorexics can appreciate the taste.

She then sputtered a giggle, "Too much parsley, oops." It explained it, it's why it was so bitter.

Then silence as food was enjoyed. The atmosphere was tense with a question wafting through.

Fortunately, Sally exudes so much emotion in that slim frame of hers that you didn't have to wait long to be asked it.

"Will you stay with me?" She asks. Oh dear. Again? Is this why she made me this?

"Of course, I would never leave you for someone else." It's stated firmly but calmly. She needed nothing else.

"No, I mean stay with me, forever... as a ghost babydoll. Tonight?" She clarifies with hesitation. Breathing gets harder a bit, not too terribly but enough to feel as if something's stuck in you esophagus.

"I, but I thought you wanted me to experience stuff?" You croaked. You wanted to cry, because you thought there was more time.

"You have, but I think that now you know life without that much pain, you can stay here. It's not a safe world out there, just like it was with them. I wanted to have you see that. You just haven't," she explains. You think.

If this is what she really wants...

"And besides we can live together. It's not like there isn't anything here. I always moan and groan about it but I could be stuck somewhere worse and with you here it would be p-"

"O-okay," you decide. You sound like a mouse and the tears have only been growing.

Sally stops, not expecting that. She thought you would have said no. She made a grave mistake.

"Really?" She asks dumfoundedly.

You nod slow and with a slight twitch as a sob wrecks you silently. "Yes, but only the way I want. I want to be killed by myself. It's my decision. It's my death. I don't want anybody taking it away, not even you Sally."

Sally really messed up now.

"Oh god." You mistake her statement as happiness that she doesn't know how to deal with. So you take it as agreement to your terms.

Thus you move upward out of your seat to hug her and that niggle in your throat itches, getting worse. The headache brewing ever since eating is tenfold what it was. Bile is a sickly fiend approaching up way your throat.

Pain seeps through your innards to your mind. Pain wracked your bones and breaks your heart. Pain.

The table you gripped was no longer there, causing clenching on nothing but wind while you tumbled down onto the floor, your foot snagging on the chair leg as well.

"Oh Babydoll no," Sally wails, making sure you can't see her, but can feel her presence and hear her voice. She's ashamed and you realized she did this.

That wasn't parsley that tasted bitter.

She's smarter than she looks but blind as well. You would die for her at this hotel and she couldn't see it.

So she had to make sure you would regardless.

You layed there with sorrow and betrayal. She took the one thing you never got, freedom of choice. It was never about protecting you that you held onto. It was that she would honor you. What they didn't do.

She broke fine china, already so fragile and yet handled with improper care still despite it's value.

The etching on the guitar served to mock.
