As I step into my car after a long and tedious day at work, I notice something in the backseat. Geordis jacket.
I sigh, pulling it to the front seat, looking at it with slight admiration, fought the urge to smell it- as weird as it may sound, I missed him, his smell, his face, his voice and just him.
I register that I’d saw him just mere days prior to this, but I couldn’t stop thinking about him, days seemed like years when I’m alone. It felt quiet and echo-y when no one was there to fill up space with me and it hurts knowing it was primarily my fault.
Eventually I realize what I should do, do a quick little drop off/check in. I know where his sister lives and I’ll be quick. No biggie, it won’t turn into anything it doesn’t need to be.
“What if he doesn’t want to see me anymore than he has to?” I ask myself, eyes getting watery, whatever— nothings gonna go wrong it’s fine.
Right?
•••
I arrive at the place where him and his sister were staying. I look at the house, contemplating whether or not to just leave it on the porch or knock on the door.
I sit in the car for a few minutes. Just contemplating weather to be a bother or to completely waste this opportunity.
‘I just wanna see him.’ I think to myself honestly. feeling tears bubble up in my eyes, I stop myself before I start crying, rubbing my eyes and sighing, a shaky breath coming in and out, I steady myself as I open the car door.
“In and out, quick and easy.” I repeated multiple times Under my breath as I got out of the car, heading around to grab the jacket and walk slowly to the front door, being sure not to rush, and really think of what to say, how to say it and be careful of tones.
I make my way up to the door, looking down to see a welcome mat in a pretty font. I slightly smile, looking up. I knock on the door, trying not to be to loud.
A few seconds go by and I hear footsteps coming towards the door, I clutch the jacket tighter.
Oh shit. She opens the door.
I gulp, quickly trying to explain myself.
“Amy hi, I, uhm Geordi, he left his..yeah.” I gestured to the jacket. I stopped, taking a deep breath.
She looked me up and down, a scowl on her face- she’d never liked me, and especially not not.
“Well obviously he wasn’t gonna take all of his belongings when he was trying to get out quick.” She spat, the scowl resting on her face, she shifted her feet, her bicep against the door frame.
“Oh yeah I know, he left it in my car a few days back.” I explained, holding it out, than pulling it back to me.
She rolled her eyes, “I’ll give it to him.” She said, holding her hands out.
“I’d prefer if I gave it to him.” I said, peeking a little behind her. She blocked my line of sight by shifting her feet.
“I think it would be better if you didn’t.” She said with a rude smile.
I sighed with a frown, looking behind her yet again, “is he home?” I asked, not budging.
She rolled her eyes. “I really don’t see how that’s any of your business.” She claimed, holding her hands out yet again to grab the jacket.
I was about to give in before I heard some footsteps behind her.
“Amy? Who’s is that?” I heard Geordi from behind her, he eventually made his way to the door, he muttered a small, “oh” and stood there.
“They were just leaving.” She said angrily, the tension between her eyes showed by a wrinkle in her brow.
I looked at him, and I could tell his lips had the slightest curl at the sight of me.
Amy looked up At Geordi, she saw his eyes, sighing she closed the door angrily, leaving him and I out on the porch.
“Hey.” He said with a kick in his voice, pitched up.
I nodded “hi.” We stood there for a few seconds before my eyes shot open.
“Oh fuck- yeah here you go you left it—,” he stopped me
“Oh yeah I was gonna text you about that.” Geordi explained, taking the jacket from my hands.
“Thank you.” He said, still standing there awkwardly. I nodded, muttering something along the lines of “of course” but it didn’t quite come out the same.
He smiled at me, placing a hand on my shoulder, I looked at his hand then at him, a confused look on my face.
“How’s therapy going?” He asked calmly.
Ahh of course therapy. That’s the focal point of the discussion.
I sighed looking up at him, “you know same-old-same-old.” I said not giving much detail, I Avoided eye contact- which in retrospect must have looked insanely suspicious.
He looked me dead in the eye.
“You are in therapy are you not?” He asked. His smile was gone and his hand was absent from my shoulder.
I caught myself, mentally slapping myself for making his head even go there.
“Yes! Yes of course I am, I just.. I just don’t wanna talk about it.” I look down, staring at my shoes.
“,look Geordi I need to go, I’ll- I’ll see you around.” I said, with a fake smile.
He nodded, bringing me in for a quick hug. I let out a brief, “oof” after 3 seconds I hugged back, feeling safe and warm in his arms.
He pulled away, “see you around cut- uh (y/n),” he chuckled awkwardly and scratched his arm.
“Okay then Geordi. Bye.” I said, looking around weirdly, before deciding to pay his arm— which was so much more awkward then it should have been.
*super cool closing line*

Rewrite vs. Canon: Power Rangers series (Mighty Morphin' to Dino Fury)?
Note: If you can't do every PR season, that's fine. I understand and respect your decision. I recently discovered this trend from your ask posts from 2022, and I know it's currently 2023 at this point in time, but I thought of giving this trend a try; hell, maybe I might do this trend as well when I get the chance with my own rewrites).
P.S. Sorry about the long post from my last ask to you. I'll be more mindful of how long my ask posts are from now on.
Well it's basically my OCs inserted in the plot but here's a general rundown (im only going to Dino Charge because that's the last show I watched in full)
Maria and Bianca are african american twins, the former becoming mmpr purple and the latter being the school journalist
Originally maria was only going to be MMPR to Turbo 2nd half but I decided to keep her as Turbo Purple and have both her and Bianca travel to space with Maria becoming Space Violet. Bianca becomes a mission control for the team.
After Space ends, Maria and Bianca takes a long hiatus giving way for a new protagonist: Maggie Phenomenous.
Maggie is the Purple Space Ranger with Ice&Snow element. The twist is she didn't want to become a Ranger and felt it intruded on her civilian ofc she grows out of it & becomes less cold
After Galaxy, Maggie is given a job working for Lightspeed Rescue and befriends that series Purple Ranger; Alya Moon. Alya is a supernatural expert (she was gonna be a cop but I'm acab).
After Lightspeed, Alya learns of paranormal activity in another city which turns about to be time travel setting off the events of Time Force. There she meets the rowdy heiress Wendy Collins.
Wendy becomes that series' purple ranger and undergoes an arc about taking responsibility. She also has a romantic arc with Eric Meyers. I thought about making her Quantum Pink as a foil for Jen.
After Time Force, Wendy moves to a beach city (lol) and becomes involved with the events of Ninja Storm. Introduced to Alli Velasquez, the Ninja Storm Pink Ranger of Fire.
After Ninja Storm Alli gets a job as a teaching assistant at a local high school. At the same time, Rosalyn is starting her freshman year and becomes Dino Thunder Pink. Tommy already knows who Alli is.
After that we go to 2025 where the daughter of Maria is a Ranger for SPD. Her name is Amethyst "Amie" Lee Scott. A big change is Isinia: rather than being a plot device she's an actual character and formerly a Ranger herself but was captured by the bad guys. In the finale she stages a breakout & reunites with Doggie.
Back to 2005 we're introduced to the Triple Threat: Opalina, Octavia, and Olivia. Opalina is the Mystic Force Black Ranger and her power is gemstones. She's a stage magician who becomes a real one.
Overdrive gets a major OVERHAUL and becomes a legitimate adventure series also the Rangers don't quit when they lose their powers. Since it's meant to be an anniversary season we get updates to what the previous Rangers are doing including a Family Reunion. Octavia is the Purple Ranger and she doesn't have powers.
Olivia is the last triplet and a skilled martial artist. So impressed RJ offers her a spot on the team; later she becomes the pink ranger.
RPM has Mavis as the Pink Ranger.
Samurai is more cohesive in terms of lore: Jayden and Lauren's mother married a Japanese businessman who is also the leader of the Shiba Clan, making them explicitly adopted. But because of an injury Mr. Shiba is out of action leaving Lauren to step up to take care ot business duties while Jayden does all the demon hunting.
Silvia is that season's purple ranger of ice and snow bc i found out Antonio's powers are gold/metal based. Her arc is learning to make new friends after she moves away.
After, we go to Bobbi, a high school student and Silvia's friend from her old hometown. Bobbie becomes the season's Purple Ranger (Mega and Super Mega). Maria and Bianca makes their big return; Maggie and Leo are married and so is Wendy and Eric. poor Amie is forced to halt her wedding plans to go back in time to help her family. The series ends with Amie and Sky getting married in the present (well 2014)
After that, Maria gets a job at a dinosaur museum and gets involved in the Dino Charge season as a mentor for her younger cousin Frieda. She adjusts to being the Yellow Ranger. Cuz I don't know how you're gonna have a PR season and exclude one of the primary colors 🤔

A youth pastor. A high school teacher and football coach. And an operations director of a large hospital network.
These were among the 46 men arrested in a massive undercover prostitution sting this month in Frisco and Southlake, local and federal authorities announced.
Roughly a dozen law enforcement agencies participated in the operation Jan. 12 and 13 at the Hyatt near Stonebriar Centre in Frisco and the Hilton at Southlake Town Square. The men had arranged online to meet at the hotels intending to pay for sex, authorities said.
Officials have not divulged names of those arrested. The men face charges of solicitation of prostitution, a felony in Texas punishable with up two years in prison and a $10,000 fine
“When you think of trafficking, you think of streets in Dallas or Fort Worth or strip clubs,” said Agent John Perez, who oversees the North Texas Trafficking Task Force, part of Homeland Security Investigations. “But there’s a lot of demand in the suburbs.”
This is the second extensive commercial sex sting operation involving North Texas suburbs in recent months. Police arrested 23 people after an investigation at short-term rentals in Plano and Dallas.
Related:Short-term rental debacle: 23 arrested in prostitution ring operating in Dallas and Plano
In addition to the trafficking task force, agencies that took part in this month’s operation included the Arlington, Colleyville, Dallas, Flower Mound, Frisco, Irving and Midlothian police departments; the Collin, Dallas and Tarrant county sheriff’s departments; and the Dallas County district attorney’s office.
The operation coincided with the Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign to highlight Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which is January.
“The victims of these heinous crimes are treated like commodities, used to make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible,” Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said in a prepared statement. “Those who traffic victims are the scourge of the earth, and we will continue to target those responsible for the trafficking and those who solicit sex from them.”
Awareness of sexual trafficking and exploitation have grown immensely in recent years, heightened by a handful of high-profile cases. Last year, a 15-year-old girl disappeared from a Dallas Mavericks game at American Airlines Center and was found a few days later in Oklahoma City; three people were arrested on charges of human trafficking.
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, co-wrote legislation with Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar to reauthorize the Abolish Human Trafficking Act, which provides tens of millions of dollars to law enforcement and social-service agencies to combat sexual exploitation. The law went into effect earlier this month.

Wisdom of the Ancients
The plethora of floor-length, ruffled, high-necked dresses in stores this past winter heralded a shift back to pioneer days in fashion. Now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, the country is reverting to pioneer days in women’s health and bodily autonomy, with the help of Laura Ingalls Wilder — I mean Amy Coney Barrett.
If this feels like a kind of betrayal, that’s because it is. Justice Barrett, along with Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch, declared during their confirmation hearings that they would commit to obey the rules of “stare decisis” — the legal doctrine of respecting judicial precedent — if they were ever to consider Roe v. Wade.Kavanaugh even called Planned Parenthood v. Casey a “precedent upon precedent” — so, doubly challenging to overturn. Their spoken commitment to precedent, under oath, turned out to be not much of a commitment. (As Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), a staunch Kavanaugh supporter — whined, she was “misled” by Kavanaugh, since he made a pinky promise to her that he wouldn’t overturn Roe.)
It’s not that precedents are never overturned. SCOTUS has overturned more than 200 in its history. But it is, actually, a Big Deal. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. called it a “jolt to the legal system” to overrule a precedent. And most often, they are overruled in favor of more rights, not fewer. Brown v. Board of Education, for example, overruled a precedent of legal segregation that stood for 60 years; Miranda v. Arizona overturned two precedents, giving an accused person the right to remain silent and not self-incriminate. (SCOTUS is busy chipping away on that, too.) And of course Loving v. Virginia overturned the blatantly racist ban on interracial marriage that had stood since Pace v. Alabama in 1883.
The question now is whether this court will use its disdain for precedent not to improve existing laws but to reverse the legal march of progress. There’s much talk that the court won’t stop at abortion but could continue to whisk away other rights, like gay marriage (granted via 2015’s Obergefell v. Hodges) and even contraception (made legal, though only for married couples, in Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965).
How far back can the court go? Pretty far, it turns out. Alito reached all the way to the 17th century to support his opinion. His arguments came from Sir Matthew Hale, a judge who died in 1676. Hale was an upstanding gentleman who believed that women who charged men with rape should not be trusted. He believed that marital rape was an oxymoron. And he believed in ghosts and witchcraft and presided at a trial where he sentenced two witches to death. Indeed, I am not certain that the ghost of Antonin Scalia, the original originalist, wasn’t directing Alito’s hand like a ouija board as he penned his opinion.
If Alito really wants to reach back in history, he should take into account that from 1776 until the mid-19th century, abortion was not illegal. Unless you were a slave: Slaveowners wanted as many enslaved children as possible to shore up their numbers and enhance their reputations.
But historical arguments supporting abortion are out there, too. No less a patriot and founding father than Benjamin Franklin had a recipe for an herbal abortifacient to solve what he considered the problem of unwanted pregnancies. But let’s not stop at the 16th or 17th century. Why not go back further, to the much-respected Stoics? They believed the fetus was a plant until it was born, when it became an animal. And Aristotle, a guy everyone quotes, thought that abortion was fine before “ensoulment” (which came sooner for male than for female fetuses, but that’s another story).
The court’s decision on Roe last week is terrible news for all women, most especially women of color, women who live in poverty, and women who are survivors of domestic violence. But it’s also terrible news for what we call the march of progress, as enshrined in legal milestones that many of us assumed were part of the foundation of the modern United States. That march is hampered and reversed by this Supreme Court. The conservative justices are short-sighted and tunnel-visioned and out of touch with what the majority of Americans want. Their decision will be responsible for the very preventable deaths of women across the nation, and it may also set a precedent for future harms.
[T.J. Ford]

Honestly been thinking about a Dark Shadows video game for a while. It’d be like the classic Telltale games, story driven and with several episodes within different main stories. Idk if the different choices or dialogue options would change anything but that’s up to you ig.
It’s mostly from the POV of David because. Of course. But Hallie & Amy are also main characters too. The three of them are essentially a Scooby doo gang, solving mysteries and fighting against the dark forces residing in their hometown. The other characters appear too, but I’d think that only certain ones that heavily connect to David would show up and act like important side characters (think like Victoria or something).
Each character would have different abilities that help you out through each episode. David has psychic powers, so he can communicate with the spirits to give him clues/hints and or to open difficult doors. His eyes glow a bit when using his powers.
Hallie has a good understanding of the occult & supernatural, due to taking an interest in her uncle’s research. She can repel and clean away negative forces, and detect when they are near due to her ghost hunting equipment. She’s also able to use her decent knowledge of chemistry to her advantage.
Amy, being the “youngest” (I say that in quotation marks since apparently both David and her are twelve in 1970?) of the group, has the most speed and is able to crawl through tight spaces and hide more easily. She can also sense when someone is in danger when the moon is full via some.. strange link with it.
The stories themselves would be based off the awful strange gold key comics from the 70’s, way after the show officially ended. Of course, they would be more well written and more interesting (hopefully), since the actual ideas were pretty interesting. An example would be the one about the golem that came alive when the Collin comet came around, and had a drive to destroy anyone who was wicked.
I don’t have an exact idea on everything else, but that’s fine. It’s not like I’m actually gonna make this game myself anyway. It’s more of a fun fandom idea. Anyways I’ll stop rambling.
