guillermo del toro’s pinocchio is a beautiful film but my god no one has adapted that story like neverafter. you can never look at it the same way again after listening to lou wilson, a black man, explaining that he chose to play as pinocchio because it’s a story about a little boy who isn’t allowed to make mistakes. that in pinocchio's story, he is fundamentally barred from childhood at once upon a time. he must earn something that everyone else is granted from birth. the other boys get to tell lies and play and get into trouble, but when pinocchio does the same thing there are grave and violent consequences. his pinocchio is trying to understand why the world is so unfair, why the rules are so different for him, why everyone else gets to be a real boy.
and I think about it every day.

Favorites : I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988)
Tumblr media
Over at the I Know What You Did podcast, where Millie and Danielle have spent the month of February focusing specifically on Black creators in honor of Black History Month, the films covered have been mostly serious, as compelling as they’ve been.  Imagine my surprise at the fact that, for the final episode of this stretch, the focus would turn to not only one of the most prolific Black families of creators out there, but quite possibly the current first-family of funny, the Wayans family.  While Don’t Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood is not my jam, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka is and always will be, and with that DVD already positioned for a Black History Month viewing, it jumped from being on the list to a position at the top.
Jack Spade (Keenen Ivory Wayans) returns to Any Ghetto, U.S.A. after a tour of duty to find his brother Junebug has lost his life to a case of “overgold”.  Jack vows to care for his mother Belle Brown-Spade (Ja’net Dubois) and Junebug’s widow Cheryl Spade (Dawnn Lewis), but after the women are threatened by Leonard (Damon Wayans) and Willie (Kadeem Hardison), henchmen to the notorious Mr. Big (John Vernon), Jack makes the choice to eliminate the negative element from his neighborhood.  He reaches out to former hero John Slade (Bernie Casey) for assistance, and initially Slade refuses, but after Leonard and Willie make an attempt on Slade’s life, he decides to join the fight.  In hopes of evening the score, he enlists the help of some of his former vigilante friends : Hammer (Isaac Hayes), Slammer (Jim Brown), Flyguy (Antonio Fargas) and Kung Fu Joe (Steve James).  With both sides at full power and intent on removal of the opposition, tensions rise and bullets fly.
Outside of the Zucker/Abrams/Zucker camp, I haven’t seen anyone pull off trope-based humor the way that the Wayans family has been able to, and it all started with Keenen Ivory Wayans and his early Hollywood work.  I’m Gonna Git You Sucka embraced two different sets of tropes, shuffled them together like a deck of cards, and dealt them out to audiences in a manner where everyone got a winning hand.  First and foremost, the film is an ode to Blaxploitation classics, and all of the earmarks of the genre are present, up to and including ex-soldiers returning home, the impact of drug dealing on the Black community, the role of vigilantes stepping up to protect the ghetto when police are absent or corrupt, and so on.  Normally, this genre of film takes itself deadly serious, but Wayans pours heaps and heaps of comedy into the mix, with running jokes, physical comedy, tons of sight gags, hilarious subversions of expectation, and even extremely base-level seriousness making the film as memorable as it is funny.
The real power of the film, however, comes in its lasting legacy in terms of how it served as a stylistic and generational bridge between the stars of the past and the promise of the future.  Keenen Ivory Wayans pays direct homage to the past by including some of the biggest names from the Blaxploitation era in key roles, and he uses the rest of the casting as an opportunity to not only showcase the talents of his vast family, but also open doors for a wealth of hilarious up and comers (many of whom are still working to this day).  The issues that plagued the Blaxploitation era are given a modern day equivalent, with drugs and sexual exploitation replaced with the embracing of hip-hop and gangster culture, but this substitution does not cheapen the strength of the narrative, despite the film’s comedic intentions.  The film is even deceptively poignant in the way that it exposes systematic oppression and police corruption.
In terms of production value, everything is more than acceptable, but from what I can surmise, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka wasn’t created to be a cinematic masterpiece.  The main aim of the film is clearly humor, and Keenen Ivory Wayans obliterates the bullseye he targeted.  The music cues all work, even the ones that are direct references to films of the past, and even some of those cues are used for humorous sight gags.  Wardrobe-wise, the film is surprisingly strong, with the costuming providing memorable outfits from the modern era, Blaxploitation era, and even a few ridiculous over-the-top costumes (including those outrageous goldfish platforms).
Keenen Ivory Wayans definitely had a lot on his plate as the writer and director of the film, but all of those obligations didn’t take away from his ability to play a comically inept version of a leading man with pinpoint precision.  Ja’net Dubois takes the trope of protective mother to new and outrageous heights, while Dawnn Lewis plays the damsel and distress with incredibly comedic nuance.  Bernie Casey is too cool for school, which makes his sharp one-liners and punchlines even funnier due to their curveball-esque delivery.  Isaac Hayes, Jim Brown, Antonio Fargas and Steve James are all able to take character aspects that made their careers and flip them on their ears, turning them into jokes without them feeling like they are the butt of said jokes.  John Vernon brings a sense of gravitas to his antagonist position, but like everyone else in the film, he manages to keep it humorous without going too ridiculous... instead, he allows the ridiculousness to come from Damon Wayans and Kadeem Hardison as his henchmen.  The list of cameo appearances reads like its own solid comedy film, with the likes of Clarence Williams III, Clu Gulager, John Witherspoon, David Alan Grier, Eve Plumb, Robin Harris, Kim Wayans, Nadia Wayans, Hawthorne James, Gary Owens, Tony Cox and more popping up, and even Robert Townsend and Peggy Lipton providing uncredited roles.
While it’s true that the comedy films of the Wayans family can be divisive in terms of reception, it’s hard to argue against I’m Gonna Git You Sucka being a classic.  The film opened many doors for Keenen Ivory and the rest of his family, and with his next project being the culturally iconic In Living Color, it seemed like the sky was the limit for his family.  As we stand thirty-plus years removed from this declaration, it’s impressive to see that the Wayans family is still rising.

Yu Yu Hakusho (Reviewing 25 years later)
This anime is like a forgotten gem. It doesn’t come to mind as #1 first but when mentioned everyone goes oh yea that was like one of the best anime’s of all time. I feel like most anime’s don’t have the same level of action, adventure, comedy, drama, and growth that this show offered. Whether you watch it as a kid for action & childish humor or as an adult for the deeper drama, life lessons and adult humor, it’s great across generations and across time whether you watched it as a kid in the 90s/00s or now in 2021.
Let me simplify it because there’s so much in-depth analysis I could go into.
Ratings per Arc/Saga:
Spirit Detective - 8/10
Dark Tournament - 10/10
Chapter Black - 8/10
Three Kings - 7/10
Deeper Analysis:
Spirit Detective - Honestly this arc had amazing parts to it, introducing the main characters, slowly improving enemies, and setting up for the Dark Tournament. I love the intro and how Yusuke has to undergo his ordeal showing his relationship with Kuwabara, Keiko, his mother, Boton, Koenma and everyone else around him. We’re introduced to a brat who doesn’t really belong but slowly finds his place and purpose starting here as Spirit Detective. I loved the deeper stories with introducing Hiei and Kurama. The introduction of Genkai was amazing, it showed there’s different aspects of growing and trying to master spirit energy. I only wish that section was a bit longer, maybe just 2-3 episodes of more unique competitors. The Spirit Beasts section is what made it a tad lackluster. This is their first real mission to spirit world and the abilities of the 4 spirit beasts just felt somewhat limited to me. Especially the fire-tiger beast, his tenacity just became annoying at some point. This is what dropped the Spirit Detective Saga to an 8 for me or else I would’ve made it a 9. The final part is amazing, it brings some backstory to Hiei by introducing her sister and most importantly the Toguro brothers leading to the Dark Tournament.
All together, it’s probably one of the best intro sagas to any anime I’ve seen at least. There’s simplicity but also complexity at the same time depending on how deep you look into it. They didn’t just half ass the action like many of my other favorite action-packed anime (DBZ, Fairy Tail). There’s a lot of mystery, dark moments, and strategy for a supposed kids cartoon for the haters out there.
Dark Tournament - This has to be the best saga in any ever because of the different strategies, emotions, growth, and somehow comedy still added in. I can’t help but re-watch this saga again and again every few years. We start with a mystery question: how much did the main characters grow in strength, abilities, and strategies? Now as a teen then now adult, the masked fighter is obviously Genkai because of the height, outfit and abilities, but as a kid, she was such a mystery for me haha. Anyways we go into the tournament and the committee seems hell bent on pitting everything against Yusuke & friends. I like that though Yusuke’s team comes out on top at the end of each fight, they do lose some individual matches for multiple different reasons. Instead of mindless matches purely on the fighting, we actually learn some backstory about many enemies and our main characters. It didn’t take long either; there wasn’t a ridiculous amount of episodes spent per backstory like Naruto or Fairy Tail. Genkai showed even more wisdom but also understanding of humanity as she knows her time is ending so she passes on her power abilities and most importantly wisdom to her favorite dim-wit. And throughout the story, we get to know more about Genkai and Toguro’s backstory and how power, morals and unfortunate events can change one’s future. The part that most people forget is the final episodes of the Dark Tournament: Toguro has been and wants to continue punishing himself. He actually does care for Genkai and Yusuke. He knows Yusuke has greater potential to grow into something great but needs proper and sometimes drastic measures and guidance to do so.
This saga had an amazing start, several related series of actions in the middle and a proper explanation at the end for many questions we had. On top of all that we’re left clues to the next arc, subtle clues you don’t realize until the next arc comes around. Episode 66, was shocking, Koenma actually granted Yusuke’s wish for his mentor and friend to be revived to live until the end of her life in peace as much as possible.
Chapter Black - This saga was great. You really don’t know what it is until it’s fully explained. We all know there were stronger demons deeper in spirit world. But something deeper darker is coming and it’s crazy because after 66 episodes we realized we never wondered about a previous Spirit Detective. What happened to that one? Now we get a trio of test spiritually aware humans just to test Yusuke & Kuwabara, but the really interesting part is when Sensui and his team is brought in. A few abilities were obvious but others were so mysterious with a constant ominous presence and heartbeat music looming over. What is each unique opponent’s abilities and what is Sensui’s background and end goal? His multiple personalities each containing yet even more unique abilities with his desire for an open tunnel into the depths of Spirit World for A/S class demons is insane. It seems impossible for Yusuke to win here even with Kuwabara’s sacrifice again. But wow what a reveal that he does have a secret demon king lineage in his blood. I both love and hate this at the same time. It feels like a cop-out but also explains everything at the same time. It’s like Super Saiyan in DBZ but different because at least here it took until the 3rd Saga and several arcs to reveal it. I guess in the overall scheme of things it’s like having Dragonball before Dragonball Z. Anyways the ending is amazing as we see them fight and find out just why Sensui wanted this all along as well as his gay partner’s obsession over him.
This was a great saga with a truly ominous back story and I love it. The only reason I keep it rated at 8/10 is unfortunately it happens right after the best saga ever in the Dark Tournament. At this point, power scaling and the use of demon king lineage in Yusuke just unfortunately puts the rating here. And we already know what the next saga is about for sure. There’s nothing left to really explore.
Three Kings - Here we go, the finale of Yu Yu Hakusho. We know Yusuke is of demon king lineage so of course he’s going to go train in Demon World. Hiei and Kurama obviously would follow along. Now with everything being obvious, why is it still interesting? Somehow the writers/producers of Yu Yu Hakusho find a way to bring even more back story in appropriate timing without it becoming filler. Learning about the deep ancient history of Raizen vs Yomi vs Mukuro shows how even as demons they have a human aspect: Raizen who ended up loving a human, Yomi who had a child and history with Kurama, and Mukuro with her tragic backstory that led to an odd relationship with Hiei. The ending is great with yet another tournament. As a kid, I wished they had a full tournament arc, but decades later I realized how much sense it makes that they didn’t show us the whole tournament, just key battles and how no one in our main crew won. Yusuke, Kurama and Hiei still has much to learn and grow. Yomi and Mukuro’s time has passed. A new brighter future awaits the demon world. Yusuke finally gets his happy ending with Keiko.
This final saga unfortunately because of its timing and closure gets a rating of 7/10. For an ending it’s great and I’m not sure how to improve it. That’s why I’m not a producer/writer haha. But it is definitely amazing and I appreciate it. Yusuke went from a kid/teen to a young adult. The story we came to know and love is over and he did NOT end up obsessed like Toguro. He didn’t choose the demon life. He also didn’t choose a psychic path like Genkai. He chose his own path with his friends in the human world continuing as spirit detective but living as close to a normal life as possible. I love this ending, The ending and whole narrative makes me give this show a 10/10. Yes I know they released 2 specials in 2018 but why not that’s a small treat for us fans. They can do specials maybe every decade or so. I don’t actually want them to do a new continued series like Dragonball Super. Let the original show be what it is and be remembered in history as one of the most unique shows with catchy theme songs. Also the Eng dub is actually good haha. Listen carefully for the adult humor hidden in the show if you’re re-watching it. You likely didn’t understand every NSFW joke as a kid. I know I didn’t haha.

Brandt Character Profile (UPDATED!)
  General Characteristics
Name: Brandt Vedyrson
Other Names: “Brandy” (a nickname used by friends to annoy him), Unknown Family Name, “Lizard” (derogatory term for Au Ra by Ishgardians), Shinjiro “Shinji” Ishida (pseudonym)
Titles: The Travelling Hunter, Black Dragon, Captain, Voidbuster/Sinrender. (Both of which he’s tried to kick off himself.)
  Personal Characteristics
Primary Objective: Brandt’s raison d'être, his reason for being, is to protect the innocent and powerless. To this end, he hunts those who would prey on the weak and set up an agency in Mor Dhona where they can come for help. Recently he was contacted by a mysterious figure who requested his presence at the Crystal Tower...
Secondary Objectives: Brandt seeks to make amends with the Dragons for wrongs he committed to them in the Dragonsong War after their recent armistice with Ishgard. Along the way, Brandt is keen to discover his true identity.
Secrets: As a youth, Brandt came into direct contact with the Eye of Nidhogg during a dragon raid. This caused him to become aetherically linked to the Black Wyrm and was the cause of him being inducted into the Dragoon Corps at an earlier age than most. He keeps this fact hidden from most unless he places a great deal of trust in them.
Quirks: While often serious, having a tenancy to fall into episodes of reflection, Brand can often act quite snarky and cocky. Additionally, Brandt tends to give people short nicknames after a while, a sign of friendship on his part though they usually consist of a shortening of their first name or a defining attribute.
  Mental Characteristics
Known Languages: Eorzean. Conversational Hingan and Xaelan. Rough knowledge of Doman.
Lures: Brandt seeks dangerous situations, usually ones he can solve with a cutting remark or a cut of his Trigger. He will also often be drawn to people who are willing to share their time and experiences with him.
Savvies: Due to being a highly trained Dragoon, Brandt is skilled in the art of physical combat and is generally quite Acrobatic for his stature. He has put extensive research into beings not of Hydaelyn, Voidsent and the like, and knows the ins and outs of most of their ilk.
Ineptities: Given his history, Brandt cannot understand the weight placed on family ties. He is also incapable of playing musical instruments, but appreciates the art all the same. Recently discovered to be an absolutely terrible shot.
Temperament: Phlegmatic
Hobbies: In the pursuit of self-betterment Brandt has taken up Fishing and Cooking. These combine with a love of sightseeing as a driving force to explore Hydaelyn.
  Philosophical Characteristics
Morality: Brandt usually believes that he is morally decent in most aspects, accepting of almost all viewpoints. However, he is not above committing criminal acts should he view them as just in the moment, unless at the detriment of another he sees as innocent, and has participated in shadier dealings in the past. He also believes that it is generally fine to indulge one’s self in their vices, I.E. drinking, gambling or use of narcotics.
Perception: Brandt is typically a realist, leaning more towards a pessimistic view of a situation’s potential outcomes. When given the glass example he would respond saying it was half empty, but that it can be refilled. He does seek to be a voice of calm in heated situations.
  Spiritual Characteristics
Religion: Brought up around belief of The Twelve, mainly Halone. Has recently embraced a belief in the Kami as well as Azim and Nhamaa.
Superstitions: Brandt generally believes that it is bad luck to speak ill of the recently departed or tamper with gravesites. Given his recent line of work, Brandt is certain of the paranormal world’s existence.
Virtues: Humility, Patience, Diligence.
Vices: Lust, Wrath, Despair.
  Supernatural Characteristics
Ability: As a former Dragoon, Brandt is highly acrobatic, able to leap great distances both vertically and horizontally. He has high aerial control and is able to discharge aether from his body to adjust his trajectory, a skill all Dragoons are taught. He is also able to brace his body against long falls, again in line with all dragoons. Having been “selected” by the Eye of Nidhogg, Brandt also holds the power of the azure dragoon. After a recent episode of influence he has decided to abandon his lance unless the circumstances call for it, opting instead to use an Ironworks-built Gunblade..
Strengths: Brandt is trained in the art of “Critical Combat”, the art of taking down opponents by striking vital points. Brandt is also moderately trained in various forms of swordplay, including as a Gladiator, Hingan Samurai and self-practised Dark Knight. Has some mild shooting ability, but opts instead to use a modified rifle if he has, slashing first and then pulling the trigger.
Weaknesses: As he is blind in one eye, Brandt often has difficulty telling distances accurately, usually taking long times to plan his jumps. Brandt is also unusually pain-tolerant, meaning he often fights on after sustaining heavy injuries and causing him numerous issues. His accuracy with ranged combat is also more or less nil.
Restrictions: Due to his somewhat unique circumstance as an non-ishgardian under influence from Nidhogg, Brandt is more susceptible to corruption by it. His emotions have to be kept in check at most times and after experiencing bouts of great stress, his control over it slips. In order to combat this, he has been given training in various self-control methods, including tutelage on the Darkside and the Inner Beast, giving him a much tighter grip on it.
  Likes and Dislikes
Likes: Rainy weather, home cooking (favourite food is Coerthan Casserole), Looking at beautiful scenery, Sake, Hingan cigars, gatherings organised by friends, Taunting.
Dislikes: Heavy snow, oppressive rulers, ridiculously sweet things, people who enforce their ideals on others.
  Apparel
Equipment: Brandt always makes sure to hold a concealed knife on his person, otherwise he is usually in possession of his personalised Gunblade.
Wardrobe: Brandt tends to dress in dark tones, most commonly a dull green and black. Stylistically he wears clothing recommended to him by peers leaning towards heavier, warmer clothing but has also taken to wearing traditional Doman clothing. When expecting serious combat situations he will don armour, including that usually worn by Temple Knights.
  Social Characteristics
Emotional Stability: Cocky. Due to his early life and training in Ishgard, Brandt is otherwise characteristically stoic. It takes lots to bring him out of his shell, however he is very quick to upset.
Humor: Brandt’s tone of humor is fairly dark, but enjoys most forms of comedy. He cannot abide by speaking ill of the recently deceased however.
Status: Brandt generally tries to keep a low profile in Coerthas as he is considered a deserter by the Holy See’s old regime. Outside of Coerthan jurisdiction, Brandt is an honorary first lieutenant for the Maelstrom due to services rendered and is well known in Othard as a roaming hunter.
  School
Education: Brandt was taught to the base standards of education in Ishgard, including literacy and a decent understanding of mathematics. In addition he was given rudimentary lessons in cartography and tracking.
School: Brandt was home-schooled by Ser Ompagne, and given further training in the Ishgardian barracks.
Study Habits: Brandt will often only study while motivated to do so, such as after finding important information or when with a study partner.
Learning Type: Learns best via experience. Teaching him new ways to control his aether takes a heavy amount of effort.
  Interpersonal Connections
Allies: The Bumble Braves (de facto leader), The Stray Sheep (former member)
Enemies: No true enemies to date. Carries much disdain for the corrupt Ishgardian clergy. Makes effort to avoid dragons due to actions during the Dragonsong War.

Channy Watches Anime Sometimes And You Should Too: Summer 2018 Edition
With the ending of spring, summer obviously comes in its wake, as well as the ever pressing need for it to just be fucking fall already! But aside from heat, bugs, and disappointing family vacations, summer also brings a whole new onslaught of anime. As usual, I have some specific as fuck tastes, and not all the time in the world to watch every single show airing this season, but I decide to compile a list of the ones that I plan on watching.
This list is a little different this time around since I’ve decided to give some different anime a chance, so this time I’ll be putting these shows in a list from what I’m most likely to finish all the way through to least likely. Here we go!
Banana Fish
Tumblr media
Nature made Ash Lynx beautiful; nurture made him a cold ruthless killer. A runaway brought up as the adopted heir and sex toy of "Papa" Dino Golzine, Ash, now at the rebellious age of seventeen, forsakes the kingdom held out by the devil who raised him. But the hideous secret that drove Ash's older brother mad in Vietnam has suddenly fallen into Papa's insatiably ambitious hands—and it's exactly the wrong time for Eiji Okamura, a pure-hearted young photographer from Japan, to make Ash Lynx's acquaintance...
This anime is awesome so far! The animation is fluid, the writing is amazing, and the story sucks you in from episode one. I feel like this one is going to hurt a lot, but I’m so looking forward to following along each week with every new episode.
Hataraku Saibo
Tumblr media
This is a story about you. A tale about the inside of your body... According to a new study, the human body consists of approximately 37 trillion cells. These cells are hard at work every day within a world that is your body. From the oxygen-carrying red blood cells to the bacteria-fighting white blood cells, get to know the unsung heroes and the drama that unfolds inside of you! It's the oddly relatable and interesting story that is the life of cells!
I present to you, Osmosis Jones: The Anime! Except, not really. This slice of life comedy follows the cells inside of a human body, and all of the triumphs and tribulations they have to go through with each passing day, whether that be fighting off germs, or even dealing with a small scrap. This one is pretty funny so far, and I definitely love the dynamic that’s been set up with one of the white and red blood cells.
Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro
Tumblr media
This is a story of a nerdy bookworm girl on her way to school, and yes, that's the entire premise, as she's not getting to school any time soon. Taking her "usual" route to school, it becomes an increasingly unusual adventure, and all the more ridiculous as it carries on. It takes an unpleasant sentiment many can empathize with, the feeling of tardiness, and brings humor to it—making it a hilarious situation to look back upon.
This season is filled to the brim with bizarre comedies it seems, which suits my tastes just fine, since aside from romance, comedy is one of my favorite genres. There’s not much plot to speak of, but each episode follows the lead, Chio, as she makes her way to school everyday. The premise is simple, silly, and great for a laugh.
Asobi Asobase
Tumblr media
Hanako, an athletically proficient, yet thick-headed student with a weird fashion sense, plays a game with the American transfer student Olivia. However, their vigor irritated their classmate Kasuki who dislikes playing games since she has always been teased by her sister for being bad at them. With a turn of events, it was found out that Hanako is terrible at English. Thus, she asked her foreign classmate Olivia to help her, but Olivia, who is only born and raised in Japan with foreign parents, can't actually speak English at all! Watch over these three girls' surreal school-life comedy.
Another bizarre comedy! This one also doesn’t have much plot to speak of, and follows these three girls through school and the different situations they find themselves in. The faces that are drawn on these girls at times are hysterical, and it’s also been just a great show to sit down and simply laugh with.
Hanebado!
Tumblr media
Ayano Hanesaki, a first-year student at Kanagawa Prefectural Kitakomachi High School, has a badminton ability able to surpass others effortlessly yet avoids playing the sport. She meets Nagisa Aragaki, a third-year student who practices day and night aiming to become the best player in Japan. Encouraged by coach Tachibana Kentarou, supported by club colleagues, and fired up by various rivals, the two engage in their youth and adored sport so thrilling like a shuttle flown at high speed!
I don’t delve much into the world of ‘sports anime’, but after I saw the animation on this one, I just had to give it a chance. This one can be a bit melodramatic at times, and I’m sure it’s just some dumb misunderstanding that’s causing all of this drama in the first place, but so far i’m enjoying watching some really well animated badminton.
Harukana Receive
Tumblr media
The story takes place in Okinawa, where Haruka forms a beach volleyball pair with Kanata. Kanata, who couldn't handle the pressure put on her by her short height, had given up on beach volleyball already but is convinced by Haruka to step back on the sand once again and aim for the junior tournament.
My second shot at a sports anime! This one is all about cute girls and beach volleyball, though of course it isn’t without it’s melodrama as well, though this one seems to be handled a little better at least. The animation is cute, and it really has a fun, summer feel to it.
Tenrou: Sirius the Jaeger
Tumblr media
The series takes place in the Imperial Capital of 1930. A group of people known as "Jaegers" landed on Tokyo Station. They carry musical instrument cases and came to hunt vampires. A man named Yuliy stood among them with a striking serenity and unusual aura. Known as a werewolf who had his home village destroyed by vampires, he and the Jaegers engage in battle against the mysterious holy arc known as the "The Arc of Sirius". What truth awaits them?
This one is pretty good so far. It’s action packed, and has awesome animation, as well as a decent plot it seems. It’s so far down on the list because I’m only two episodes in, and my fear is that the story is going to end up disappointing me, or become boring.
Angolmois: Genkou Kassenki
Tumblr media
The scary great king comes from the other side of the sea… The big incident ‘Genkou‘ that shook medieval Japan is being drawn in an original way in this historical anime, along with the beginning of the Samurai…!
A samurai historical about the Mongol invasion of Japan. Lots of action, and decently animated so far, but might not continue with it if it starts to really bore me. I’m also secretly hoping for some romance between the two characters featured on the poster.....
Grand Blue
Tumblr media
Among the seaside town of Izu's ocean waves and rays of shining sun, Iori Kitahara is just beginning his freshman year at Izu University. As he moves into his uncle's scuba diving shop, Grand Blue, he eagerly anticipates his dream college life, filled with beautiful girls and good friends.
But things don't exactly go according to plan. Upon entering the shop, he encounters a group of rowdy, naked upperclassmen, who immediately coerce him into participating in their alcoholic activities. Though unwilling at first, Iori quickly gives in and becomes the heart and soul of the party. Unfortunately, this earns him the scorn of his cousin, Chisa Kotegawa, who walks in at precisely the wrong time. Undeterred, Iori still vows to realize his ideal college life, but will things go according to plan this time, or will his situation take yet another dive?
Yet another comedy! I think this one is aimed at a younger generation of boys though, but so far facial animations are funny, and it’s been good for a laugh with one immature gag after the other. I may not stick with it, but I’ll give a few more episodes just to see if it’s worth my time.
Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes
Tumblr media
Based on mystery novels written by Mochizuki Mai.There is an antique shop in Kyoto's Teramachi Sanjou shopping district. High school girl Mashiro Aoi unexpectedly runs into Yagashira Kiyotaka, the son of the shop's owner, and ends up working part-time at the shop. Kiyotaka is called the "Holmes at Teramachi Sanjou," and he and Aoi solve odd cases brought to them by various clients.
This one probably should have been a little higher on the list, but considering I forgot about it until just now, maybe it doesn’t.... I decided to check this one out purely based on my love for Sherlock Holmes. The animation in this one is just okay, and the cases, while only two episodes in so far, are so predictable that it’s almost laughable. I’ll probably stick with this one since it’s easy enough to get through, and while it’s more of a slice of life, I am sort of hoping for a romance between Aoi and Holmes.
Aguu: Tensai Ningyou
Tumblr media
The series is about a missing genius whose mysterious disappearance becomes a shady secret among the successful members of society.
Last one on the list, and only one episode for this one so far. It has some pretty odd animation, so much so that it nearly through me off. I suppose it speaks well of the story that I stuck around despite that. I know the plot synopsis above is pretty short, but it’s hard to explain what this wild show is about, and it’s better if you just check out this weirdness for yourself.

One-Punch Man: “The Ultimate Hero is back!”
One-Punch Man is coming back! Once again, you will be able to watch this extremely amusing, action-comedy series together with Saitama and his cyborg sidekick named Genos. The most enjoyable and interesting TV series of all time.  Merge a ridiculous action with straight-faced comedy and dreadful akin hero in One Punch Man series, this show is incredibly addictive and difficult not to debauch in one sitting. It gives a tremendous fun, entertainment, and  breathtaking fight scenes, which will surprise you upon watching. This TV series will make you laugh because of the humor, exchanging words of the characters, and also the outlandish animations.
Saitama, a well-known hero in One Punch man, is physically described as an ordinary-looking man with a thin body, has a brown eye represented as dots, and basic mouth and eyes with elliptically-shaped head. He has an average height and weight. He also has a spiky black-colored hair; however, because of his intense hero training, his hair is suddenly gone.

The premiere of One Punch Man Season 2 is trending now in the West on Hulu, which is originally published in online manga. Based on the manga, Saitama’s dream is to become a hero for fun. Because he really wants to become a superhero, he decides to do an intense training by doing a workout such as a 100 sit-ups, 100 push-ups, 100 squats and a 10-kilometer run every day. As a result of wanting to be strong, he became bald and capable of defeating any threat with a single punch.
In the past episodes of One Punch Man, he is consistently saving people’s lives. Besides being the strongest man in the universe, Saitama is a simple, ordinary guy who loves to go shopping just like others. With the relevance and simplicity of the character, One Punch Man TV series is really funny to watch. Because of Saitama’s mild appearance and lack of self-satisfaction, he is frequently-underestimated. His heroic actions are usually underplayed, but Saitama doesn’t care about what others are saying; he doesn’t let that bother him. Additionally, the characters are funny because of their sense of humor, especially the main character -- Saitama.

One of the best scenes in One Punch Man will be Episode 19, which shows how the protagonist, Saitama, fared in the “Super Fights 22“ martial arts tournament. Left on the stage are the most elite fighters and Saitama is leading to one punch his way into the finals, where he had to face the good-looking guy, martial arts superstar named Suiryu! Saitama was impressed about Suiryu’s power and finally saw a challenge that could actually entertain him for a bit.

The season 2 of One Punch Man has unique set of characters; for instance, the mafia-inspired ones to berate as superhuman A-Class Heroes -- in contrast from the first series of One Punch Man that was full of characters. Then season 2 has an extraordinary ability, which you can embrace yourself for the peculiar power of the new characters. The villains that will attack the cities are made with very creative and colorful animations.
Tumblr media
Looking for the physical look of Saitama, you will not imagine that he has a strong power. He has a fake identity look, so that the enemies would think that they can easily defeat him. He keeps his identity secret because if his deception becomes known, his reputation will be at risk and unsuitable for a hero. The Villain Association and the Hero Association come out in this season 2; it is possible that they will bring the big disaster with them at the end series of the first season of One Punch Man. The deceitful group is settling a dispute of horrible creatures and abhorrent the villain’s intent on destroying community and kill innocents. This may result in a mass conflict between these groups, so expect to watch some intense and breathtaking fight scenes.
From the Hero Association, Saitama is the lead hero and his main opponent in this season is Garou. It is reasonable that people were doubtful about One Punch Man: Season 2, but it's clear that concerned ones were mislead. Overall, the show is still a must to watch, and will surely be for the rest of the season. If you want to watch the entire first season, it is available on a lot of providers that offer this show; however, the One Punch Man: Season 2 is available only this time in Hulu.

CHARACTER INTERVIEW
Repost. Don’t reblog.
NAME: George Augustus Frederick of the House of Hanover, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Chester, Baron Renfrew, etc
NICKNAME(S): Prinny
AGE: born in 1762, he is played on this blog as in his forties, and is not yet Prince Regent (although that may soon change)
SPECIES: All too human!
personal.
MORALITY: lawful / neutral / chaotic / good / neutral / evil / true
RELIGIOUS BELIEF: George was raised very strictly in the Protestant faith with the expectation that he will one day become the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Despite (or perhaps because of) this, he is an indifferent church-goer and detests most sermons, though he enjoys drinking with bishops. His current excuse for not attending the nearby Church of St. Nicolas in Brighton is that it is at the top of a very steep hill. He is rather distressed that the faithful of Brighton are planning to build a new chapel at the bottom of the hill especially for his convenience.
SINS: greed / gluttony / sloth / lust / pride / envy / wrath (he often persuades other people to share in his vices, insisting friends overeat or drink too much, and has a passion for encouraging adulterous affairs)
VIRTUES: chastity / charity / diligence / humility / kindness / patience / justice (he has few virtues, but his kind heart redeems many of his vices)
PRIMARY GOALS IN LIFE: A lover of beauty in all things, he wishes to gratify his own exquisite taste and share it with the world. The seduction of beautiful women, wearing of beautiful clothes, the purchase of beautiful objects, the development of beautiful and original architecture, and to serve his country by expanding English style. Most of all, he yearns to be loved and admired which has made him easy prey for those who chose to flatter him. It pains him that he is not more popular with his father’s subjects.
LANGUAGES KNOWN: English, French, German, Latin, and Greek (with a little Spanish and Italian).
SECRETS: His secret marriage to Maria-Anne Fitzherbert renders his marriage to Princess Caroline of Brunswick bigamous (in the eyes of God if not English law). He wears high cravats partly to obscure his double-chin and partly to hide the scrofula scars on his neck. Often he will come to believe any lie he might tell and thus his powers of self-deception often succeed in fooling others. He loves being ill because it is an excuse to stay in bed and be fussed over, and so makes much of every cough and sniffle. His growing corpulence is a great blow to his vanity although he pretends not mind it. He devours every caricature and article written about him, even though they depress and frustrate him, and then pretends to be above reading “such tripe”. He prefers to break up with women by letter or give no notice at all, not because it is more convenient, but because he knows he will cry and relent if he were to attempt such a thing in person. Although he is a spectacular spendthrift, he hates to spend physical money and often hides coins and notes in desk drawers and the pockets of his coats. He collects locks of women’s pubic hair, has kept every romantic souvenir ever presented to him, and likes to lie in bed and go through them when he is feeling particularly lonely or depressed.
SAVVIES: Although he has not an ounce of common sense, his sensibilities are extremely acute. He is highly intuitive (when not in a nervous state), thinks outside the box, and usually knows what to say in order to get what he wants.
BUILD: scrawny / bony / slender / fit / athletic / curvy / herculean / pudgy / average — to use his words: “rather too great a penchant to grow fat”.
HEIGHT: a little over six feet tall.
WEIGHT: This fluctuates quite a lot, but is currently somewhere between 16 and 18 stone.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: The aforementioned scars on his neck as well as the scars on his backside from being whipped as a boy. It annoys him that the scar he gained from wounding himself to prove his love for Maria Fitzherbert has mostly faded away and it takes him a little while to discern it from his stretchmarks.
ABILITIES/POWERS: He is extremely well-mannered, clever, and articulate (even while drunk), a fine judge of art, plays the piano, the cello, and the flute, sings well, knows how to talk and how to listen, and can make himself agreeable to just about anyone should he set his mind to it. He is no snob and can be very kind-hearted. He supports many charities, is against slavery (although he cannot bring himself to quit sugar), patronises a society against animal cruelty, hates executions, gave up watching boxing when he saw a man die in the ring, and is exceedingly generous (albeit usually with other people’s money). He is charming, elegant, very witty, a good rider, can drive any vehicle on wheels, and does devastatingly accurate impressions of all his acquaintances.
RESTRICTIONS: He extremely emotional, perpetually in a dazzle, can’t shoot for beans, has no real idea of how much anything should cost, and often requires the support of his lovers and friends (who may not have his best interests at heart). He cries often, lies often, overeats, is incapable of fidelity, catastrophises situations, and can behave with astonishing immaturity. He is an alcoholic, increasingly addicted to opium, perpetually in debt, and prefers to run away from his problems. He is terrified of ridicule and has an exceedingly thin skin, although he does his very best to hide it. He chooses people over principles and often does not understand why a friend will suddenly become an enemy because of something he has done. He can be made to feel helpless very easily and often indulges in grand talk to hide his insecurities. He wants to do the right thing, but is too fond of escapism, so people dismiss him a stupid or silly.
favourites.
FOOD: His favourite foods are legion but particular mention goes to chicken, truffles, vol-au-vents, ice cream, marzipan, beefsteak, lobster, goose pie, puff pastry, turtle, oysters, roast capon, stuffed pike, syllabub, cheese, strawberries, peaches, pineapple, trifle, jellies, and custard pudding.
DRINK: Hot chocolate, cherry brandy, sherry, gin, whisky, port, hock, Madeira, champagne punch, and hot ale with toast.
PIZZA TOPPING: Pineapple ;)
COLOUR: He loves all colours, but his favourites are blue, pink, green, and gold. He is a magpie, attracted to anything that glitters, although he understands what suits his large figure and lately has chosen darker, more somber styles under the influence of Mr Brummell. His choices in interior design, however, grow brighter and more eclectic by the day.
MUSIC GENRE: He loves all sorts of music, employs a German band, delights in opera — particularly Rossini — enjoys cello pieces, will sing old catches and glees with anyone who cares to join in, taps his foot to keep time, invites soloists to perform for him, and will even dance a hornpipe or a fling if he’s in the mood (although lately he has begun to refrain due to his weight).
BOOK GENRE: He mostly enjoys light reading: poetry, romances, and comedies — although this is not a rule. He adores Jane Austen’s sharp wit and Walter Scott’s lavish narratives. He will inevitably end up putting himself inside the novel and agonising over the characters’ feelings as though they were his own. When he is alone, or as alone as a prince can ever be, he reads aloud to himself and “does the voices”.
MOVIE PLAY GENRE: The same. He has a particular affection for Shakespeare’s comedies and Sheridan’s farces. He will watch tragedies, if they have actors he admires, or has been told he ought to go, but they make him cry.
SEASON: Spring. He loves to see the world renew itself.
CURSE WORD: Damme, damn’d, God damn, and all varieties thereof.
SCENT(S): Almond cream, lavender water, rose water, elder flower water, jasmine pomatum and orange pomatum, eau de cologne, eau romaine, Arquebusade, essence of bergamot, vanilla, eau de miel d’Angleterre, milk of roses, huile antique, oil of jasmine, brandy, ripe fruit, civet, warm butter, roast meat, and the sea air.
fun stuff.
BOTTOM OR TOP: It varies between lovers and circumstances. He desires to be admired and treated with deference but longs for the security of a guiding hand. Without someone he can trust by his side, he will often go into an emotional tailspin. So, physically, it can go either way but emotionally he prefers a stronger partner.
SINGS IN THE SHOWER BATH: Loudly and frequently.
LIKES BAD PUNS: Don’t get him started!
