First things first, I'm gonna need Gen V to never fucking do that again. How dare they release such a good episode and only have it be 34 minutes??? Is it a fucking sitcom??? They do that again and we WILL have problems.
Now, Cate. I done told y'all she was the mole and now look. I mean do I still love her? Absolutely. Do I think she is a victim of Dean Shetty's manipulations? 100%. Do I believe she thought she was protecting her friends? Yup. But do I also think Andre was right somewhat in what he said? Yeah, kinda do. Listen, with all the good intentions in the world the fact that she repeatedly made Luke forget about his baby brother when she knew the type of turmoil it was causing in him is twisted. The same way she was going to confess to Andre before the text came is the same way she should have confessed to Luke. Granted I think the reason she was even going to confess to Andre was because of how wrong things were going. But still, she ain't right for that..
So, I see three possible avenues they might take with her: first, kill her off at the end of the season in order to redeem herself to her friends; second, she could become an antagonist to the group (tho this is less likely); or third, she may act as a double agent and spy back on shetty so they can find out what's really going on..
Jordan Li. My beloved. My baby boy/baby girl. I can understand why they thought Marie couldn't accept both sides of them and I'm so glad they explored a bit more into their character's history. But baby, Marie wants to love on you no matter what your gender so just let her!!! At least they got to a point where they realised they were being unfair to Marie over the whole situation though, so hopefully episode 6 will have them talking about it properly. Alsooooo, Jordan getting pissed when Marie's brain was tampered with again? Good fucking food. Jordan moving closer to Marie at Cate's reveal? I was eating that shit upppp. Jordan this whole episode was kinda unhinged and you know what? I wanna see more, please and thank you!!!
Alsoooo, can we talk real quick about Jordan's conversation with Andre and Cate because I cannot have been the only one who was straight dyingggg through it. "is it a black thing?" "...oh my God!!!". The way Jordan didnt even dismiss the fact that him and Marie made a good couple too. Likeeeee. C'monnnnn.
Marie, my sweet girl. Once she finds out the true extent of her powers its over for everyoneeeee; she's gonna fuck everyone up and I personally will be cheering her on at the sidelines!! Slightly worried though because 1) who is her benefactor?? and 2) what if they are able to capture her somehow??? She is yet to go unhinged and I would like to see it, especially if it's in relation to something happening to Jordan.
Emma and Sam. I mean you know its real when one half of the pairing's mind has been wiped and still there is an undeniable connection between them. The fact that Sam went out of his way to find Emma after all the shit that went down??? Ooof, I'm living for itttt. The fact that even though Emma hadn't gotten back her memories she still believed him? Don't make me cryyyyy. I loved how Emma realised how wrong her mother was about her "getting big" & how she's beginning to carve out who she wants to be for herself. Also, her and Marie's friendship is honestly just goals.
Also, lowkey everyone should have just let Sam kill that Dr Cardosa because he's gonna bring big problemssss I fear, and on that note they should have him kill Dean Shetty too because ole girl needs to skedaddle her way out (although the person who takes her place could be even worse, so idk about that yet)
Also, someone please give Andre a hug that boy needs it. Seeing him unhinged tho?? Ooofffffff 10/10.

10 Fandoms, 10 Characters, 10 Tags
Thank you so much @idle-brit for tagging me!This was lots of fun :) 💖
My tags: @delyth88, @elymusplant, @galaxythreads, @chemical-processes. No pressure to answer, of course :)
1. Loki (MCU)
Tumblr media
As much as I love everyone on this list, there is absolutely no competition for number 1. Loki has been my favourite character of all time for nearly 6 years now (because clearly the best time to join someone's fandom is after they've just been murdered), and is showing absolutely no signs of being replaced anytime soon. I have a Loki blog, for god's sake. The brodinsons are my favourite relationship in any kind of media, ever. I love them so, so much. Loki's a million different things and feelings, all at the same time, all fighting with each other, which makes for a wonderfully complex and nuanced character. Also, he's hilarious. Look at that eye roll. This is a man who hates his life, which makes me feel better about mine. Thanks, Loki.
2. Klaus Hargreeves (The Umbrella Academy)
Tumblr media
As will become obvious throughout this list, I love me an emotionally traumatised crazy person. Klaus is that. One of the characters who makes me laugh the most, ever, show-stopping dress sense, and a bucketload of unresolved trauma which goes largely ignored by Klaus, the other characters and the narrative itself? It was love at first sight. Their banter with the other characters, especially Ghost Ben (rip) is one of my favourite aspects of the show. Here's to hoping that Klaus won't be getting the Allison treatment in season 4!
3. Pippa Fitz-Amobi (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder)
Tumblr media
I binge-read the entire AGGTM series earlier this year, and instantly fell in love with it. Pip is one of my favourite protagonists ever. Impossibly clever, compassionate, obsessive, badass, and a teensy bit unhinged. What's not to love? I would die for her. I'd say that I'd kill for her, but I think she's got that covered. I think she's written in a very realistic way, firstly as a genius 17 year old girl who doesn't really know what she's getting into, and later as a haunted individual who wants to stop investigating but can't. The way she politely knocks on people's front doors to dig up their traumas, accuse them of murder and all-round ruin their lives is everything to me. She is my blorbo. I am so, so excited for the show to come out, and I'm sure that Emma Myers will do a wonderful job as Pip!
4. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)
Tumblr media
One of the best-written characters, in one of the best-written series ever. Reading from her perspective is such a delight- she's endlessly suspicious of everyone around her, constantly on survival mode, trusting very few people and relying on exactly no one (to begin with, at least). She's a random teenage girl, from the poorest district, and she wins the Hunger Games. She's so mentally unstable that she has to be sedated, and still she's made to be the face of a rebellion. She's rude, and kind of unlikeable. She adopts all the weakest tributes, at risk to herself, knowing that they won't win. She's doomed to fail by the narrative. She's the it girl of 2010s dystopian YA fiction. Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress, who does a beautiful job portraying the depth and conflict of Katniss in the films. The themes and social commentary of the Hunger Games is one of its (many) strong points, and I am so so glad that people are talking about it again, because it is my favourite book series out there.
5. Mitchell Pritchett (Modern Family)
Tumblr media
I have no idea what to say about this man, I just love him. He just like me fr. What an icon. Impeccable music taste. I've started saying, "no my god" now, and nobody understands what I'm talking about. Even in a sitcom, my favourite is the one with issues that he refuses to talk about or fix. The episode where he's trying to hide that he dressed up as spiderman makes me cry-laugh. Claire's speech at his wedding makes me just cry. He's not a perfect man, but he's certainly better than everyone else.
6. Shin Tsukimi (Your Turn to Die)
Tumblr media
My favourite cringefail loser! I said Katniss was doomed by the narrative in a metaphorical way. This idiot is actually doomed.
No but in all seriousness, I do really love him. Before the beginning of the game, he was just a relatively normal young man- but, when confronted with the inevitability of his own death, he made himself into a monster to survive. He has a violent vendetta against the local badass teenage girl, who is traumatised as hell already and does not need Shin chipping in as well, thank you very much. I love his relationship with Kanna, his biological sister; how he uses her, manipulates her, and still cares for her so much that he dies for her with a smile on his face in the Emotion route. Conversely, in the Logic route, his actions are a direct cause of her death, and I just love how much YTTD hates siblings. I hope that his past with Midori is explored more in either a mini-episode or the final part of the game, because I find it sooo interesting. I'm super excited to see whether he actually has no chance of survival, or whether he makes it out, against the odds, on one of the routes. He's a bit useless, so I won't get my hopes up.
7. Rue Bennett (Euphoria)
Tumblr media
I think it goes without saying that Euphoria has its issues, lol. Sam Levinson is an idiot. While a lot of the show (especially season 2) feels shallow and like it doesn't care about its characters, Rue's storylines always have heart and depth and I am so invested in her arc. It's no wonder that Zendaya won 2 Emmys for this role, because her acting is phenomenal! Rue feels so real to me, in the way that she's trying so hard to stay sober but she falls down and relapses time and time again. Recovery isn't linear, but she's getting there, and I adore her with all my heart. Her relationships with Lexi, her mother, her sister, and her sponsor, Ali, are my favourites, and the healthiest for her, in my opinion. Her brief friendship/ romance with Jules may have kept her more solidly sober than anything else in the show, but Jules (understandably) cracks under the pressure of Rue's mental health, and can't be there for her. Rue needs to heal for herself, which she appears to be doing at the end of S2.
8. Max Mayfield (Stranger Things)
Tumblr media
Duffer brothers, please just let her be happy.
Despite only being introduced in Season 2, Max has, in my opinion, had the best character development out of everyone on the show. Her growth from someone standoffish, rude, and uninterested in the group (maybe I'm being a bit harsh. She was, like, 12) to someone who is willing to risk her life to help her friends and Hawkins means so much to me. The scene in "Dear Billy" (S4, Ep4) where she escapes from Vecna remains my favourite in the whole show and will probably be burned into my brain forever. Her relationships with Lucas and El are very sweet, and some of my favourites in Stranger Things. Her final line in S4, after all her struggles over the season, being that she doesn't want to die literally breaks my heart. I hope she gets some degree of a happy ending in the final season. She was my first profile picture when I joined this hellsite, and I love her a lot.
9. Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables)
Tumblr media
The shenanigans that this girl gets up to never fail to make me laugh. The bit where she accidentally dyes her hair green and then has to hack it all off makes me feel awful for her, but. it's hilarious. Sorry, Anne. Her friendship with Diana is so sweet but also so funny to me because they really are the most chaotic duo of the 1880s. The scene where Anne accidentally gives her alcohol instead of fruit juice is so mortifying but so, so funny. Amidst all of the insane situations that Anne gets into are a lot of really heartwarming moments and relationships. Matthew and Marilla adopting Anne, even though they wanted a boy, because she's so endearing and alone in the world is probably what made me who I am today. I still haven't gotten around to watching Anne with an E, but I've heard it's amazing. I look forward to watching it when I have the time :).
10. Daphne Blake (Scooby Doo)
Tumblr media
My first ever favourite character! Another one who I don't have a tonne to say about. She's an icon, she's a legend, and she is the moment. She has done nothing wrong, ever. She knows martial arts, so watch out.
Honourable mentions: Thor (MCU), Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games), Gretchen Weiners (Mean Girls), Jake Peralta (Brooklyn 99), Maurice Moss (The IT Crowd), The Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who), James (The End of the F***ing World), Ali Abdul (Squid Game).
If you read all of this then thanks, and have a great day!

Why you should vote Abed Nadir in the 2023 autism swag summit
I've seen people do this for other polls and it is vital that Abed Nadir from the 2009-2015 NBC comedy Community wins this one.
Vote him round one here.
Does he fit the first part of the statement? Yes, Abed is canonically autistic.
When he realised autistic fans related to him, creator Dan Harmon did as much research as he possibly could into autism as to not let those fans down.
While doing said research, Harmon realised himself was likely on the spectrum. Meaning that Abed is a canon autistic character created by an autistic person. How often does that happen?
Due to the above facts, he is a very well researched and developed autistic character, with both traits more commonly shown in the media, such as blunted affect and difficulties reading faces and less commonly shown traits, such as hyperempathy and sensory issues.
From the time Abed first appeared on screen to the present day, there have been many blog posts, magazine articles and even scholarly articles written about how good rep he is. I have seen him on many a neurodiversity advocacy Instagram account. (If you want me to link some I will!)
OK, we have established the autism. What about the swag? Well, first of all, as Donald Glover summarised it "Abed fucks". There is a whole episode dedicated to his friends trying to get him a girlfriend and worrying about his self-esteem and in the end it turns out he gets plenty of girls and, as he says, he has "self-esteem falling out (his) butthole." He also gets guys hitting on him. And how can we mention Abed without his boyfriend soulmate best friend Troy. who canonically wants to have his "gentle and mysterious" "other half"'s children. In short, bisexual king.
Of course, swag is not limited to just sexual and romantic prowess, as the amount of aroace people I know with limitless swag testifies to. Swag can also be measured by commitment to the bit, for example. And, boy, is Abed known for his commitment to the bit.
Abed is Batman, Han Solo and Jesus. He is a mafia boss. He is a cartoon man discovering the meaning of Christmas. He is the narrator and the cameraman. Like, not metaphorically or in archetype. He realises a need for these characters in the story and becomes them.
Tumblr media
[GIF- Abed as Batman, applying lip balm, possessing undeniable amounts of swag]
9. "How does he realise the need for the these things in the story?" you may ask. Well, his special interest is film and TV. He is a filmmaker. Thus, he frames his life in terms of genre, often seeming aware of the fact he is in a sitcom. However, this often changes, and, the show branches off into completely different genres, which Abed points out. These shifts in genre explore character dynamics and also are super awesome. Abed is so genre-aware, he changes the entire genre of the show. That is swag.
10. The Community fandom here on Tumblr.com, and throughout the web, is quite small. It will make us very happy. Plus, for the first time in 8 years, there likely will be new Abed content this year, due to the release of the movie. (Due to one of Abed's many catchphrases "Six seasons and a movie!")
11. Please please please please I love him so much and i am very cool you should listen to me please please please.
So yeah, that's it! If you have anything to add, please do!
Click below for some Abed gifs.
Tumblr media
[GIF- "Evil Abed" (Abed with a goatee and sunglasses) walking through his college being evil. He hangs up someone's payphone call, pops a girls balloon with his cigarette and then dumps said cigarette into a woman's coffee]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[GIF- Two gifs. One is of Troy, topless, leaning out of an airvent. He looks down and says "I love you". Next is of Abed, looking up at him. He says "I know", before being grabbed by a zombie in a kilt]
Tumblr media
[GIF- Abed, wearing sunglasses, saying "movie reference". Jeff is there too and also wearing sunglasses]
Tumblr media
[GIF- Abed saying "Cool. Cool cool cool"]
Ok there are so many more GIFs I want to put but I kinda have work soon lol. You get the gist, he is amazing. Vote Abed!

(Looking to watch 3rd Life, Last Life or Double Life? Here you go!)
If you are looking for a guide of some Limited Life episodes to catch up on for no particular reason at all (certainly not a new season being around the corner), I've got you covered!
Now I'm not going to lie, trying to curate this list for Limited Life broke me. The mechanics of this season meant that you gained time by killing other players and in doing so it felt like 50 things were happening all at once constantly across the server. As such I haven't been able to get absolutely everything onto this list, but I did try my best to get all the important events and a wide range of perspectives!
WARNING: Incredibly long read more where I go over why I picked certain POV's and what to expect. I do so love to ramble. Spoilers ahead!
SESSION ONE
Skizz - Breaking from tradition from recommending Grian first because you need to watch Skizz's POV first out of everyone unspoiled. The way things unraveled this episode felt like a sitcom in the best and worst ways lol
Grian - Just a good solid first episode honestly and with the start of the Bad Boys™ how can you not love it.
Scar -  I really have no words for whatever is the dynamic of the Clockers because you really just have to see it to understand. It’s a fun episode and as Scar, Cleo and Bdubs have set up near spawn, you always get to see something interesting.
Big B - Big B’s episodes are always a treat as he does super long ones that give you a little more insight into what's happening on the server, rather than just the big events. But if you wanted something specific to watch, his last 10 minutes of this episode were a blast.
SESSION TWO
Joel - Bad Boys Bread Bridge was both the most amazing and ugliest build on the server and I’m so glad it was made. Also Joel gets some amazing kills this episode that are so tense to watch.
Martyn - Look this one is here because of a little personal bias. Martyn shouts me out in the episode so I couldn’t not add it lol It’s also a very good episode in of itself in that it introduces the Mean Gills and I’ll always be a Mean Gills supporter. Also that Tilly roast? oof
Pearl - Pearl is constantly on the move this episode and living up to her Nosy Neighbour title so watch her episode if you want some good gossip and to see the lay of the land.
Tango - Tango always delivers a solid episode and as he was building the TIES Tower a majority of the time he receives a lot of foot traffic through the area creating some fun interactions.
SESSION THREE
Scar - And in this episode of Limited Life, Scar rediscovers the joys of minecart TNT.
Impulse - Impulse is such a fun boogey to watch, and the way he edited this episode around his thought process of who to kill was great.
Grian - Kind of a different episode this session as Grian was sick so he was afk the entire time. It was very very very funny to watch, but as he wasn’t interacting with anyone you’re going to miss a lot of context if you only watch his POV. You should still give this a watch though!
Joel - Watching poor Joel run around after Grian trying to keep him safe was incredibly entertaining lmao
SESSION FOUR
Scott - I believe Grian said it best, but this session felt like a final session with the way the yellows were chasing after the greens. It was pure chaos the entire time and Scott beautifully evading them all until his descent into yellow was perfection.
Tango - Tango is here for the same reason as Scott but as the last green the final hunt for him was terrifying to watch.
Cleo - I love Cleo’s episodes and this one was just a joy. She was slightly sick this week but I feel like that only lowered her inhibitions to do some out of pocket stuff.
Jimmy - The exciting saga of Judge Judy and Executioner continues in Jimmy’s episode this week and if you didn’t know anything about it, that's ok! Neither did anyone else on the server except for Jimmy, Pearl and Big B lmao consider this the best episode to watch if you want this plotline covered.
SESSION FIVE
Etho - Considering the episode starts off with Etho having to babysit Bdubs, then an awkward family dinner and an explosive game of catch, I really couldn’t have asked for a better Etho video.
Big B - This session was a lot more calm than the previous, so there was a lot more alliance talk happening. Big B has a great perspective on all that as he and Pearl get up to a tonne of mischief that causes some problems with some alliances they already had.
Scott - Once again this was an alliance building week and Scott’s episode really highlights some of the more fun things that happened to make and break some relationships.
Grian - Poor Bread Bridge o7 you will be missed. Thankfully M-Rye 5 was there at the end to rain chaos from above. (<-sentences that make no sense out of context)
SESSION SIX
Cleo & Pearl - I couldn’t choose between either of these two this session. Both Cleo and Pearl were out sick so they handed over their accounts to two other players. I won’t spoil who they are but these episodes were amazing.
Jimmy - The Bad Boys were going through it this week goddamn lol It never stops being funny how much of a mess everything becomes when they get together.
Martyn - It was his birthday this session and he’s just a little guy! Surely nothing would go wrong at his birthday party? And certainly not caused by him!
Tango - The last half of Tango’s episode is just a comical amount of deaths that only get funnier and funnier as the time between them shortens.
SESSION SEVEN
Skizz - Oh Skizz. You are too good for this world. His ending for this episode was heartbreaking and Affirmation Station will live on in my heart forever.
Scott - I love watching Scott run around the map and hunt people down because he is so good at the game! I believe he had the highest kill count this session and I loved every minute of it.
Joel - (Major Spoilers) Ah Joel it just wasn’t meant to be! But hearing the desperation in his voice grow higher and higher as the clock ticked down was nail biting. Scar - Just a good Scar episode honestly! Shows what the Clockers are up to during all the chaos and a great view of the server devolving into anarchy.
SESSION EIGHT
Martyn - WOOOO YESSSS LETS GOOOOOO (<- does that count as spoilers???)
I distinctly remember being on the edge of my seat this whole episode and Martyn delivers in every way possible for a fantastic final episode of the season.
Impulse - I haven’t mentioned it yet but Impulse’s editing this season went wild and it's none more apparent than in this episode. He and his team went crazy for the finale.
Etho - Such a fun episode!! The twist at the end with the diamond sword coming into play was everything I could have wanted and more.
Pearl - It was really a toss up between Pearl and Scott for this last spot, but I loved her perspective for the one last minigame on the server.
BONUS
Bdubs - Do you have a spare 12 hours to dedicate to Limited Life? Then oh boy does Bdubs have a video for you! Instead of weekly videos he decided to collate all his episodes into one mammoth video which was an absolute blast to watch over a weekend! It’s a really interesting POV to watch because when LimLife was airing Bdubs would just appear all over the map and we never had any idea what he was doing so it was awesome to have some concrete evidence of his shenanigans. Definitely give this one a watch if you’re in the mood for a marathon!
IN SUMMARY…
I swear if the next season is as messy as this one, I think I’m going to have to start taking notes when it's airing because I think this took years off my life haha if you think I’ve missed anything please tag it because I would love to see it! I definitely could have added more POV’s per session like I did with the Last Life and 3rd Life guides, but I think a more curated list helps keep down the overwhelming nature of trying to watch a million Limited Life episodes.
But really, I loved watching Limited Life live so I’m glad I give myself an excuse each new season to go back and watch the season over again. There are so many little foreshadowed moments that you don’t see on the first watch and honestly it all just makes me more excited for the new season! Thanks for reading <3

SHIPPER TAG GAME
Tagged by @negrowhat to give away all my fandom secrets. I came up in the US, so most of these will be Western shows. Also be aware that I'm old and been around in fandoms for decades, some of you youths might not even recognize these ships.
1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?
Felicity and Noel. I was very into them (and very anti-Ben) when I was first watching this show at the tender age of 14, but then I rewatched it as an adult, realized Noel was a classic Nice Guy with some clear warning flags, and settled into Team Ben.
Tumblr media
2. Which ship would you consider your first one?
Hmm maybe Elizabeth Wakefield and Todd Wilkins? I think I started reading Sweet Valley High at, like, age 8. For TV, I was a sitcom kid and I was obsessed with Dwayne Wayne and his flip-up glasses as a child. I loved him and Whitley. Damn now I want to rewatch.
Tumblr media
3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?
The first I read? I am pretty sure the honor goes to Buffy and Spike.
Tumblr media
They were the first ship I remember having that classic fanfic brainrot combo of 1) captivating me entirely with their dynamic and 2) canon leaving me unsatisfied. I lost months of my life over at Elysian Fields.
In terms of the first fanfic I wrote, the honor goes to Ian and Mickey.
Tumblr media
I was big into Shameless for its first four seasons. But then the show went way off the rails, the fandom went with it, and I quit watching and scrubbed all my fandom activity off the internet.
4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?
I honestly have no idea. Probably something Buffy, I was doing a lot of internet dwelling for that show.
5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?
Getting into discourse is my whole entire thing LOL. I have survived many, many ship wars and let me tell ya you haven't seen unhinged until you've been knee deep in the tags in a long-term fandom with multiple ships for the protagonist. One of the things I love about BL and nearly all Asian dramas is that we go into every show knowing who the main pairing is, so we don't have to fight about ships.
6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?
Hmm I was a big Buffy/Angel anti and that was before Spuffy was even a twinkle in my eye. I never liked that man in a romance until he got hooked up with Cordelia in his own show (but then they ruined it ugh). I was also very anti-Harry/Hermione back in the OG HP days (let characters have meaningful platonic relationships!).
7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?
I've been on a Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian kick of late.
Tumblr media
8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?
OTPs are eternal! Like I said above, since I mostly watch Asian drama now, they're baked in. My fav of my current watches is Ten and Prem.
Tumblr media
9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?
YES I AM STILL MAD ABOUT ROBIN AND BARNEY.
Tumblr media
You show me two characters who are clearly uniquely compatible, you give me a brief taste of their extremely fun and non-traditional relationship, and then you break them up and stick her with the milquetoast Nice Guy protagonist in a total betrayal of your entire narrative premise? Fuck off forever, HIMYM, I will see you in hell.
10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?
Hmm nothing comes to mind. If I decided to hate a pair in the past I am pretty likely to still be hating.
11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
I would like to see you try to cancel me!! I'll echo Eboni here and say Brian and Justin, though of course there were people who hated them because of the age gap back in ye olden times, too. Fandom spaces are mostly women and women in queer fandom spaces often struggle to account for the totally different culture and power dynamics between m/m pairings.
Tumblr media
12. What was your favorite crack ship?
I don't really do crack ships, I am a canon pairing girlie.
13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?
I don't know who the ultimate winner is, but I think it's probably a neck and neck competition between Spuffy and Wangxian as my most read pairing.
14. What most of your ships usually have in common?
There's actually a lot of variety in them in terms of personalities, appearance, and tropes. I think what makes me really click into a ship is the feeling that the two people are uniquely suited to each other and well matched to go through life together.
15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
When I don't believe they can actually make it.
Tagging @my-rose-tinted-glasses @twig-tea @imminentinertia @shortpplfedup @stuffnonsenseandotherthings @littleragondin.

Blood Gulch Chronicles
The first two seasons of Red vs Blue are perfect for what they are, an early web sitcom. It's really fun watching how little growing pains there are. Just about everyone's personalities and voices are so well defined. But there are still growing pains, although these are not a pain to see happen. Donut especially evolves as a character, it's hard to imagine season five Donut throwing that frag grenade. Caboose says the phrase "why buy the cow when the milk is free?". Even half a season later, he would never say that. As soon as he kills Church, his voice and personality become what we now of it today. And Sarge's voice changes a little. And that's really it, these first two seasons are perfect. And then the ending of season two, they have to join forces and Tucker finds out that they're conflict has all been a lie. This is the strongest ending of any season from this era.
Season three starts of with a bang, showing new character pairings whilst ramping up the conflict and introducing new aspects like Wyoming and the players from the real world. Even when they get to Halo 2, the story is real fun and is still all about RvB. Then Church goes back in time. Him interacting with Lopez and the audience meeting Butch Flowers is great stuff, great time travel shenanigans. Then the next half an hour is stuff we've already seen before, a glorified clip show. Why would a web series need a clip show? And it is revealed that Church is quote "the team killing fucktard". All of the time travel stuff robs the first two seasons of any narrative weight and, whilst the final shot is a very nice quiet moment with Sheila, the moral is that you can't change anything. And Church doesn't reveal any of this to anyone, only him and us the audience know. So what was the point of that? And this is when I think RvB enters a bit of a rut. A little aside, I have previously seen most of RvB, up to season 10. I remember some of the stuff from later that reframes this whole arc but I am entering this viewing without any later context. I am watching Blood Gulch in a vacuum, as I would if only this arc existed and nothing else. The worst revelation, which I know they get change their mind on, is Tucker's discovery. Apparently, now, the conspiracy about RvB is false. So, you've told us a season ago that there was the conspiracy, implying that this season is going to explore that and the conclusion is that it was a mistake. That's my issue with the rest of Blood Gulch. All setup with no payoff. Like the prophecy stuff in season four, it ends with the alien dying and Blue team deciding to return home. Half of your show, the A plot, is serious plotting that isn't fun or compelling to watch. And the Red team, the B plot, the stuff that's fun to watch is framed as not important. Admittedly, season five is much better than the last two. Both teams have equal importance and they both further the plot. But it's clear that the writers have broken the structure of the show. They can't return to the sitcom of the first era. And the ending falls into the traps of the last two seasons, focusing primarily on the Blues with the Red team in thrown to the wasteside. Whilst the stuff with Tucker is cool and I know the ending is supposed to be a cliffhanger, I just don't find the mystery of Tex defecting compelling. I know that's what a cliffhanger is, but I just found it so tired. I don't know how else to put it.
And then it's implied that Tucker was right about there being a conspiracy? I don't know, it's frustrating to watch. The show went from RvB to BLUE! (Red may be included). And it sucks, that set up to season three is so strong with them joining forces and new pairings show up. And they want to change the shows direction but just keep giving as the same stuff. Without knowing what happens next season, I would be seriously worried about this show. And that's the thing, most people prefer seasons 6-13, with the engaging plot and the focus on lore and what not. But if I had only seen the plot of seasons 3-5, I would not be hopeful.
A show changing is fine and I remember really liking the rest of the show. I just find it funny that the first two seasons don't really have growing pains but to when they decide that they want to be a sci-fi drama rather than a sitcom, that's when the growing pains set in. From what I've seen of the miniseries from this arc, I know the writing is going to get better. I just hope Red team is as much of focus. Hell, I hope Tucker and Caboose don't end up in the shadow of church. To end on a more positive note, Blood Gulch is about a bunch of people who hate each other being stuck together. But I find it fun to see whom actually likes one another. Everyone on Blue team really like Donut, which is really funny because of how no one on Red team respects him. Caboose likes Church, and deep down Church likes Caboose. And deep down, Church and Tucker like one another. But funnily enough, Caboose doesn't like Tucker? And Church doesn't like Simmons? I just find this stuff funny. Like in It's Always Sunny, another show about a group of people who hate one another, it's very clear that deep down Mac and Charlie, and Charlie and Dennis like each other. I don't know, it's fun.
I do like RvB and I did like a majority of the Blood Gulch Chronicles, 70% of it if you do the math. I just found the story stuff not compelling.

"Bob's Burgers" Season 10 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 10:
Tumblr media
Average (Mean) Score: 4.27
Mode (Most Common) Ranking: 4
Ranking Breakdown: 7 5s 14 4s 1 3
Season as whole thoughts:
This is the lowest average score for a season since Season 2, and that seems about right to me. Season 2 and Season 10 are kind of bookends for my personal Golden Age of "Bob's Burgers".
In my experience, all long running sitcoms (and I'd define long running as maybe more than 5 seasons), eventually undergo a transition where I stop seeing them as "one of the funniest things on TV!" and, if I continue watching them it's more because I like hanging out in their world with their characters, even if they don't make me laugh quite as hard as they used to on a regular basis. And a lot of shows don't make that transition successfully- I just stop watching them because they don't make me laugh as much and I realize I don't really care about the characters. Or I stick around but then retroactively realize I only like about half the episodes of the show.
I still enjoyed Season 10 and beyond of "Bob's Burgers", but (as the numbers for this silly project will likely show), I found Season 10 and onward to have a lot more episodes where my reaction was "that's good" or "that's nice" or "that was kinda boring but it was still nice to be with the Belchers" rather than "that episode was amazing!"
One caveat I will add to that is: I have noticed that some of the later season episodes tend to grow on me upon rewatching them- which honestly is great and one of the things that makes this project fun!
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Pig Trouble in Little Tina": This was definitely an episode that grew on me. When I first watched it, I mainly found it weird and kinda gross (the pig's guts spilling out in Tina's dream.) And it is both those things! But it is also really funny and kind of touching. So, a great "Bob's Burgers" Halloween episode. I love the "skeletons doing helpful things around the farm" hayride, and the bit where Louise can't draw blood from Tina is a fun reminder that for all Louise's bluster she's just a kid. And the Fiona Apple end credits song lives in my head rent free now. "But you kissed a fetal pig and now you two are boyfriend-girlfriend" is a lyric for the ages.
"Legends of the Mall": I talk a lot about how Rudy's stories remind me of myself as a kid, but Bob and Bosco's story here reminds me of myself now. "Middle-aged man is confused and frustrated by buying pants" is the story of my life now. Well, not THE story, but a plotline. I definitely do think the phrase, "they're call pants, not can'ts" pretty often.
"The Hawkening: Look Who's Hawking Now!": Koji is a fun character and I am glad they found a story to bring him back in. And I think the story structure is really interesting in this episode: there is an A and B plot, but they both center around Louise, with the resolution of the one informing the resolution of the other. Also, the Zeke and Rudy interaction at the beginning of this episode is one of my favorite things ever. Also also, this episode led to the creation of what may be the fic I've reread the most: "I know I believe it, and so do my bones" by CourtneyCourtney (@daddygrandpaandthebeaver) which is one of those episode tag fics that is so good it has merged with the episode itself in my mind. (What? You don't remember the scene in this episode with Louise and Rudy at the frozen yogurt shop?!)
"Now We're Not Cooking With Gas": This has enough good things (especially the Riverbrook Lake Farms Heritage Turkey song) that I gave it a 4, but it's probably one of my last favorite Thanksgiving episodes. I know Bob's always kind of a jerk in Thanksgiving episodes, but the bit where the kids are so proud to have brought him that giant log for his fire and he rejects it really bothers me. It's possible I'm repressing a similar memory from my childhood or something.
"A Fish Called Tina": Yes, this episode introduces one of my favorite minor characters, Kaylee Morganstern. Yes, we get another Louise and Tammy story and I always love that dynamic. But the real highlight of this episode is Madison, Tina's old big fish, who has an incredibly high ratio of really funny lines to total number of lines. "Welcome to Caboose Kabob, what can I put in your caboose?" and "Order 71, Baba Ghanoush Caboose and a cup of juice!" always crack me up. Sorry, but caboose is just an inherently funny word.
"Three Girls and a Little Wharfy": The episode that helped inspire my confusing username here and on AO3! Just an all around fun episode- Fifth Grade Megan was a fun new character, as is April Busby (her line about studying for the bar exam "soap not the other one" and including the Madonna/Sean Penn divorce in her Wharfy scrapbook both crack me up). And Louise just has a lot of fun little moments in this one- I particularly love her mimicking Linda when borrowing the laptop from her parents, also her response to Megan's comment about not talking to the cat on her block ("I mean, I'll try, but if he talks to me I'm not going to be rude...")
"Wag the Song": The most I've ever related to Zeke and J-Ju. If me and my grade school best friends would've had the chance to write the school song, it would've absolutely turned out along the lines of their song. (And all the kids and the songs are a hoot!)
"Tappy Tappy Tappy Tap Tap Tap": A pretty meh episode. Personally, I didn't really need to revisit Josh. On the plus side, it gave us the phrase "Rudy's ballet fight", which will live in my mind forever.
"Poops!...I Didn't Do It Again": This is another episode that grew on me. Similar to "Pig Trouble", I initially found it weird/gross but now find it funny and touching. And the theme about parents trying not to pass their fears/insecurities along to their kids is an important one that I don't often see expressed in pop culture. On a lighter/weirder note, "I'm thinking animatronic doves with human private parts" is probably a top 10 Gene line for me. (However, I am annoyed that this episode basically forgets about Jezebel from "Synchronized Swimming".)
"Prank You for Being A Friend": This is the story that makes Kaylee one of the most interesting recurring characters to me. While I never tried to get kicked out of school because I couldn't find my people, I can certainly understand the motivation (I would've been more likely to do that in high school than 4th grade.) Also, this newspaper joke at the end of this episode basically inspired Rudlee, the Rudy/Kaylee ship aka my second favorite ship for of both those characters! (Please don't judge me for having multiple Kaylee Morganstern ships...)
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
-What's the best use of a recurring character in "Bob's Burgers"? What's the best delivery of a single word in "Bob's Burgers"? The answer to both questions can be found in "Local She-ro" when Gus appears only to say the line "Chumbawamba!" in his Gus voice.
On that note, I get knocked down, but I get up again. You are never gonna keep me down.
Which is a weirdly defiant way to say that I'll see you (theoretical readers of these crazy long posts) in Season 11!

Childhood TV shows? (cartoons, disney/nick sitcoms, etc.)
THAT WILL LIKE GIANT POST BECAUSE I WATCHED THOUSENDS OF CARTOONS, SITCOMS AND MUCH MORE XDDD
Long story short, I didn't have any friends in my childhood and usually I was bullied physically and mentally at elementary school so yeee- That is why I spend 50% of the time in my home looking non stop at the TV screen and watching whatever i found (rest of the time i was playing with my littlest pet shops and monster high dolls making cults, apocalypse, and cities. I LOVED making city for my pet shops and rule them all >:D)
So I will tell about the most important ones for me, because this post would never end if I start talking about EVERYTHING (and won't talk about movies, because it's about what children channels was showing.)
In my kindergarten era my favorite cartoons was mainly on one channel BBC for kids. It was my gold, everything i needed after long day in kindergarten where children were beating shit out of me. And lately I rewatched Numberjacks, Charlie and Lola (funfact my 20y/o dog is named after her older bro XDD), Big coock and Little cook, Teletubbies, The Koala Brothers, etc. (i watched everything what was showned at that time on BBC) This shithead from Numberjack still makes me scared.
Tumblr media
He is a demon from my past.
But my parents because they doesn't gave a shit what i was watching my top 1 kindergarden cartoon was original Ben 10 and Lady Gaga music videos (And I'm not even fucking kidding, my family has videos that i could sit for an hours and just watch poker face over and over again.)
Tumblr media
And i also rewatched it lately and found out that most of the talking roles are shared between Ratchet and Optimus polish VAs (Jarosław Boberek and Dariusz Odija)
Later we got more channels on our old TV so I started watching channels like Nick, Disney channel and Disney XD (we had cartoon network, etc. before so yeah). And for that time Hannah Montana was perfect for me i truly love it. I loved this show. The same with ICarly (fuck Dan Schneider, fuck paramount and nick that was hiding him and other p3does for years, they are acting like disney but worse) BUT there were also sitcoms for boys, and if you know me I LOVE MEDIA FOR TEEN BOYS. After Hannah Montana stopped showing up, I really felt in love in I’m in the Band, Zeke and Luther, Kickin’ It, ESPACIALLY Crash & Bernstein, because it was mupped show but cooler for me at the time XD
Tumblr media
More ppl should know about it XD
And after it my golden era begin, because we got even more channels and I could watch for first time show that will change my life forever, thanks to this show I'm with you guys rn and start to draw:
Tumblr media
My first ever episode of lego ninjago was the episode where 1ep of 3 season, and it got me so hard XDD and at the time I cried me when I was 10 I cried like little baby when Zane died and was this show-don't-tell ending with Pixal. It was everything I needed... and it made me nerd also XDDD At the time i start to watching Teletoon+ like crazy!!! I watched MLP there and LPS too! And I'm so pissed of on myself, because TFP was shown there to but I didin't want to watched, because since i was youngling I hated Bayverse and was scared of their faces, so fuck you Micheal Bay, I almost missed the best TF show ever because of you :))
But also worth to talk about is The Amazing world of Gumball, oh boy I love it the same as Lego Ninjago and Nexo Knights!!! It was spiderman universum for me, when i was young, I watched since it premiered to the very end and even as a young teen I appreciated the animation and creativity that Gumball was showing us. Since today I think that animation and ideas are just pure genius and I can not even tell one thing bad about it like about Total Drama (1-3 season lives rent free in my head still, that is why I'm danganronpa fan) XDD
Tumblr media
And now we are getting to second most necessary canon even in my life. The March 16th of 2015 first episode of polish Transformers robots in disguise was showed and it was fun for me! Fun enough that I recommended it to my friend that I created this au with, and she told me that it was cool too! And then years has passed and in 2022 she rewatched because she was bored and discovered Transformers Prime, she was so amazed of it that she begged me for MOUNTH to watch it! And guess how she convinced me to watch it??? XD she showed me that one ep that Starscream was running with KO, because zombie Silas was hunting them XDD (I'm spoiler proof, so I wasn't angry that she showed me ep from 3 season). AAAAnd that is how it started and that is why I'm with you rn and drawing transformers stuff for more than 2 years
Tumblr media
So Rid15 literally get me into this awesome fandom!!!
And then I started using internet to the state, that I stopped watching TV at all so yeah... (i mean i was using internet since 2010 when I was 6, and using school computer to play dress up games, but yk what i mean) AND ofc there was much much much more cartoons and shows i watched BUT like I told you there is too much of it XDD
As a funfact my sister forced me to watch naruto and sailor moon in very young age, so I never watched fully and to the age of 13, because of her I HATED anime XDDD

Tag game: List 10 of your comfort shows, then tag 10 people
I was tagged by @twig-tea thanks for the tag. Like you I'm having trouble narrowing it down so I cheated a little and some of this are grouped together.
Group One is the Detective group, I used to love detective stories, which means I watched a lot of cop shows, there are some that I can't watch anymore because of the new awarness of the copaganda but these are the ones that I still find comfort in: Cold Case, Elementary, Murder She Wrote, Columbo and Ris Roma (italian version of a CSI like show, this is the first and only spin-off which I like more)
Skam OG S3 and Eyewitness and Skam Italia s2. These I am not reaching for as much since I have BLs now. But they are still comfort shows. Skam Italian s2 in particular I reach when I want to feel better about the borderline semi-fascist hellstate I'm living in, since it's the best gay rep we italians got.
Animated Group: Animaniacs and Tiny Toons along with Looney Toons cartoons I use as background noise kind of shows. And along with the anime Kodomo No Omocha (Rossana in Italian) they remind me the most of childhood. Side note sometimes I listen to intro of Rossana anime and feel like a kid again, cartoon intro used to be a pretty big deal in Italian dub cartoons 80% of which were sanged by a single woman.
Old Sitcom Group: The Golden Girls, Boy Meets the World, Full House and The Nanny
Leverage (not the new seasons, I don't really like them, just the old ones)
Community
Living Single
Superstore
The BL Group (the most recent and the one that I am now leaning to most of all): Until We Meet Again, Be Loved In House I Do, History 2 Right or Wrong, Semantic Error and My School President are the ones that bring me the most comfort.
This is mega cheating because they are not really show as in tv series. But they always bring me the most consistent comfort: Assorted Musicals and Theather Live Recordings. In particular = The Sound of Music, West Side Story 2021, Moulin Rouge, Les Misarable 25th concert, Into the Woods (the 90s recording), Much Ado About Nothing (the 2011 recording with David Tennant), Cats and an italian one Notre Dame De Paris an Italian-French Musical based on the Victor Hugo book not realted to the Disney version at all)
Bonus: the ones that are no longer comfort shows because I can never watch them again: CSI (all of them but I used to love NY), Law and Order, and Veronica Mars (which I haven't been able to watch since I saw s4)
And the ones that didn't make the list: My favorite Power Rangers series (they range from Lost Galaxy to RPM)
Tagging: @thehollowprince @heretherebedork @callipigio @benkaaoi @slayerkitty @respectthepetty
It's not 10 but I am bad with names so these are I could think of. No pressure to them of course.

Modern Family’s Andy & Haley Were Supposed To Be The Real Endgame!
On February 17, 2017, my sister and I met Adam Devine after the Madison, Wisconsin show during his “Weird Life Tour 2017.” We had a really interesting conversation with him that I will never forget. I told him I missed him on “Modern Family” because he was my favorite guest star ever on the show and l loved Andy's relationship with Haley and his bromance with Phil. He told me that the creators asked him to be a series regular, but he turned them down because he was too busy with “Workaholics” (a show he created, wrote, and acted on at the time). I told him he should take them up on their offer now that “Workaholics” is in its final season. He joked that he should go crawling back to them begging and pleading to them to let him back on the show. I laughed and said that I just really want Haley and Andy to end up together. He said he wanted that too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, if what Adam told us is true, then Andy’s exit during the finale of season 7 of “Modern Family” was not supposed to be the end of his character and his relationship with Haley. The creators intended for Andy to stay on the show and eventually marry Haley. Going into season 8, the creators of “Modern Family” offered Adam Devine a series regular role that he had to turn down because he was too busy with “Workaholics.” In the book “Modern Family: The Untold Oral History of One of Television’s Groundbreaking Sitcoms” by Marc Freeman, Adam said it would have been difficult to make him a series regular because “Modern Family” would have been in second position.
Tumblr media
However, Adam still wanted to guest star on the show like he had done in previous seasons. He just couldn’t commit to a whole season as a full-time cast member.
I think Adam rejecting their offer to be a series regular probably annoyed the creators so they decided to write his character out completely. According to Sarah Hyland (see the screenshot below) in the book “Modern Family: The Untold Oral History of One of Television’s Groundbreaking Sitcoms” by Marc Freeman, Adam had contacted them to see if they wanted to bring him back as a guest star, but they told him “they couldn’t find the funny between Andy and Haley anymore,” which is obviously not true if they thought he was funny enough to be a series regular on the show. I think they probably only said that because their egos were bruised when Adam had to turn their offer down. Also, if the writers really couldn’t find the funny in Andy and Haley anymore they’re basically saying they are bad at their job, lack creativity, and can only go for the easy jokes (look at Dylan be dumb, etc.).
Tumblr media
Finally, in season 9 (episode 21: “The Escape”), Andy returned for one very disappointing episode in which the writers were really trying to push the Arvin and Haley relationship. I remember there was a lot of backlash from fans on social media after that episode aired and the majority of them were calling for the return of Andy and for Haley to end up with him. It seemed like the writers were ignoring what the majority of the audience wanted; however, it turns out this wasn’t the case because they actually tried to work out a deal with Adam to return in season 10, but his work schedule yet again made this deal impossible because he was now busy filming in South Carolina as a series regular on HBO’s “The Righteous Gemstones.” Co-creators Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd and writer/executive producer Danny Zuker discussed this topic in the book “Modern Family: The Untold Oral History of One of Television’s Groundbreaking Sitcoms” by Marc Freeman (see the screenshot below).
Tumblr media
In March 2021, Adam was on an episode of Whitney Cummings’ “Good For You” Podcast where he talked about how the creators of Modern Family wanted him to return to the show so Andy could marry Haley. Adam wanted to return to the show too (skip to 1:01:16 to 1:03:39 on the video below).
undefined
youtube
In the below screenshot (from the book “Modern Family: The Untold Oral History of One of Television’s Groundbreaking Sitcoms” by Marc Freeman), Adam elaborated on his feelings about his contract to return to the show falling apart.
Tumblr media
Since Adam’s schedule made it impossible for him to return to the show, the writers decided to have Haley marry Dylan instead. Such a shame! Sarah Hyland even said she wanted Haley to end up with Andy and that she will ship them together forever (see the screenshot below from the book “Modern Family: The Untold Oral History of One of Television’s Groundbreaking Sitcoms” by Marc Freeman).
Tumblr media
I wish we could have seen the creators’ original vision for their true intended endgame. In my opinion, Andy being a full-time cast member from season 8 to the end of the series would have been the best version of what could have been. That would have been amazing! Then, the second best version of what could have been would be Andy returning in season 10 and being on the show until the end of the series. Since, unfortunately, both of those versions of the show couldn’t be and currently the audience is left with an unfinished love story, I really hope someday for a reboot, limited series or spin-off of “Modern Family” in which Haley and Dylan are divorced and she remarries Andy. This would finally allow fans and the actors to get closure on the Andy and Haley story arc. Plus, Andy would make an awesome stepdad to Haley’s twins since he was such a great manny. They could even have a couple kids of their own. Personally, I like the thought of them having four kids (the twins and two others) like Adam joked they would in an old interview (skip to 3:46 to 4:20 in the video below). This would be the third best version of what could be for Andy and Haley, the couple who really deserved to be endgame and was supposed to be endgame! I just hope that someday the timing will finally be right to make this happen. Fingers crossed!

Spoilers for the Taskmaster season 16 finale below the cut.
Oh my God, Sam. Oh my God. You had to do that to me, didn’t you? You had to bring in a lackluster final prize and not do anything good enough with a doughnut (and that should have been a very Campbell-oriented task), just to make it interesting until the last moment. Come on, Sam. You had such a massive lead a few weeks ago, and I appreciate you wanting to do us the favour of creating some suspense in an exciting finale, but this was taking it a bit far.
I mean, I don’t think Sam Campbell is the only person responsible for creating the suspense. He under-delivered on the doughnut task, but Julian under-delivered (or rather, delivered exactly what we’d expect from Julian Cleary in a task that requires physical effort to do properly) on the exercise task, and I think his five points may have partly come from Greg knowing that would make the final task decide the winner. But still. It worked out in the end.
I have to admit that in this episode, as the scores got tighter, I got so caught up in the competitive side that I was barely able to enjoy the actual comedy. Except for the final filmed task, since that one was a team task where I knew the points wouldn’t matter as Sam and Julian would come out of it equally, and I’m glad that was the one that I got to sit back and enjoy. I love it when a Taskmaster season ends on a really big finale task. All of them try to end on a good one, I think, but most don’t deliver as big as this one did. I think the last time we had a final filmed task as great as this one was season 11, when they ended on the “Activate Jamali” task. That did feel similar to this, in that it was a big remit with lots going on, and they first showed the team of two fucking up a few times because it’s a really difficult assignment but they worked together and managed it, and then we realize that if the fairly competent team of two couldn’t handle this then the disjointed team of three will be a disaster, and then we get to watch the disjointed team of three be a disaster. Great stuff.
Every part of both teams’ attempts at that task was incredibly funny, I couldn’t ask for more from an end to the season. The way the Sues worked together brilliantly contrasted with the way JLS didn’t. Lucy trying to sing and play music for Alex. Julian finding a fire. Susan giving him her outfit. Alex was on absolutely top form, that might be the hardest Alex Horne himself has ever made me laugh on Taskmaster (I add “on Taskmaster” because he’s probably beaten it on No More Jockeys, but Alex has gotten some pretty big laughs out of me on Taskmaster before with his deadpan stuff, and his performance as Qrs beat all of them, I think). Susan dying laughing at the marbles and forks. Sam accusing him of committing a crime. Team Sues genuinely trying their very hardest and being foiled at every turn. The genuine sense of farce and sitcom tropes played perfectly. We don’t need a John Cleese-backed Fawlty Towers remake. We need one starring these people.
But I did spend the rest of this episode concerned that this was also echoing the season 11 finale in that some Australian had established a very strong lead throughout most of the season, started to lose it in the last few episodes, and very nearly squandered it altogether in the finale. Now that I think about it, are Sarah Kendall and Sam Campbell the only Australians to ever play Taskmaster UK? If so, that’s an amazing record they have, with a 100% victory rate. But they also have a 100% rate of making it fucking interesting at the end when it did not have to be. (I think Canadians have a 100% victory rate too, with Katherine Ryan and Mae Martin as the only ones to play so far, we need a season with both Alice Fraser and Phil Nichol for a Canada vs. Australia tiebreaker – though that might be a bad example as Canada would definitely come out losing that one.)
In that way, it actually reminded me of season 10. That was the first season I watched as it aired – in early 2020, I watched all nine seasons that had aired already, and then when season 10 started in fall 2020, I watched it one episode at a time. Partway through the season I decided I very much wanted Daisy May Cooper to win, partly because I liked her, and partly because I found Richard Herring mildly annoying and thought it would be funny to see him lose to her.
I’m still not sure why I found him so annoying. I recently listened to the Acaster/Gamble episode of RHLSTP, and James Acaster kept making fun of Richard Herring for trying to do every task properly instead of trying to be funny, which reminded me that Richard Herring should have been exactly the sort of contestant I like, as I love the ones who do that. The ones who are really competitive and care a lot about winning so they try hard to do everything right. I remember seeing season 10 and thinking it seemed a bit contrived in Richard Herring, like he was trying to seem like someone who was really competitive rather than genuinely caring the way someone like Ed Gamble or Rose Matafeo did. But at this point, I know enough other stuff about Richard Herring to think it probably was real, and I might like him more if I re-watched season 10.
Anyway, the point is that the ending of season 10, like the ending of season 16, very dramatically came down to the final studio task. In season 10, I’d been keeping track of the overall scores in my head throughout the finale, as I knew how they started and would know what it did to them after each task. So I knew Daisy May Cooper was up by only one point going into the live task, and then she built her bridge better than anyone else’s and I thought she had it, she definitely had it because Richard wouldn’t be able to beat that – and then her bridge fell down and that was it.
I was watching that episode with my dad on his TV, and without at all planning to do so, I may have shouted the word “fuck!” fairly loudly when that happened. I obviously didn’t plan to do so, because I don’t normally shout the word “fuck” in the presence of my father. Not that I can never swear around him at all – we have what I think is a normal relationship with swearing to have with your parents when you’re an adult, which is that you don’t have to pretend you never swear. But I do tone it down around my parents out of basic respect. Except when I am so emotionally invested in a TV moment that I get so genuinely upset when it goes wrong that I forget where I am and just yell at the TV.
Honestly – sorry to get slightly more cheesy than this silly comedy show deserves here – that was kind of a big thing for me, at the time. Just knowing I still had the capacity to have that feeling, of being that invested in something that does not matter, enough so I forget where I am and yell something. I’ve said many times that Taskmaster was my way of coping with the lockdowns, but that was a reminder of just how literally I mean that. It wasn’t just an entertaining thing to watch while I had nothing else to do. It was a decent proxy for sport when no sport was available. I think, after spending over 15 years deeply invested in an actual sport, I had gotten genuinely addicted to the neurological chemicals that get activated when you care about the outcome of a competition but don’t yet know that outcome, and Taskmaster was the methadone that I used when COVID took away actual sport and I couldn’t just go cold turkey on said chemicals.
Again, I realize it sounds very weird to call the competition between Daisy May Cooper and Richard Herring on Taskmaster season 10 a significant emotional event for me, but it kind of a little bit was. I remember writing a post that night on this blog (this blog, at the time, was only a few months old), describing my reaction and saying I was rather relieved to know the part of me that could get that invested in competition was still there, because I hadn’t used it in so long and I’d almost forgotten how it felt, aside from a general sense that my life was emptier without it.
To be clear, I am not saying Taskmaster actually fixed the emptiness that occurred in me when lockdown took away sports – obviously, Taskmaster does not provide the same fulfillment as actually participating in actual sports. A huge part of what makes sporting moments special is the fact that I participated, whether my participation was as a coach or as an athlete. Whether it was doing my own training or training someone else, it still meant hours and hours across months and years and years of preparation. Every moment of sporting glory is special because of the many non-glorious moments that we did because we were dreaming of creating that moment. We worked hard for it, and that’s why we get to enjoy it. Or, if we lose, it feels awful but at least it feels like something, the sort of something that just didn’t happen anymore in a COVID world. COVID didn’t just make me miss winning, it made me miss fighting, even miss losing, because, and I’m really sorry for not being able to think of a less cliché way to say this, that was still a moment of feeling alive.
Obviously, watching the comedy panel show Taskmaster did not provide any of that, so I don’t mean it could literally replace sports. However, it did activate just a little bit of the adrenaline that comes from competition, the part that’s associated with caring who wins something and having a bit of jeopardy where you don’t know if it’ll happen. And then being very happy or very angry about the outcome, but knowing that either way, it doesn’t genuinely affect your ability to live.
That last part is key as well. This is something Andy Zaltzman describes better than anyone I’ve ever heard – he has a bunch of material about how sport is the best thing in the world because it’s a safe way for us to have all the excitement that humans naturally crave. We get to take risks, get scared and upset and excited, feel alive, feel like our life has a real purpose and that purpose is being fulfilled – but it’s just something we made up. People recognized that human beings like that kind of excitement, and set up these things called sports that have preset parametres that we all agree to buy into, we all agree to care and to imbue them with meaning simply because we all agree that they mean something, but at the end, no matter what happens, no one fucking dies (usually). And that’s a big thing that I missed in 2020.
I’ve seen people say it’s an American thing to care who wins in a panel show, and I think that’s because American game shows have a big cash prize so the winner actually matters, so people think American fans who care who wins British shows believe there’s also some cash prize there. But I know there isn’t one, I know it doesn’t actually matter in the actual real world who wins. And that’s the point. If there were really a cash prize, then I’d have to pick my preferred winner based on who needs it most. Which in this case is none of them because they’re all varying levels celebrities, some much more famous than others but all successful enough to at least be financially stable, so I’d think about how this money shouldn’t really go to them and would be better spent on causes that matter. And then it all gets less fun. I don’t want to cheer for an already rich and successful person to win money. I want to cheer for someone to win in a sport-style situation where the outcome doesn’t have any genuine real-world importance, but it matters within these parametres because we’ve all agreed to believe it matters. That’s the part that I like.
Anyway. What the fuck was I talking about, again? Oh yes, Sam Campbell throwing a ball on to some other balls more successful than some other people. But God, it was exciting, wasn’t it? I may have complained about him making it unnecessarily interesting, but on the other hand, it’s so much fun when things are interesting. This time I watched the episode by myself, on a big projector screen belonging to the rich couple for whom I’m housesitting, and that’s for the best, because there was no one around to hear how much I yelled at the screen during that least bit. Both when Julian’s ball fell off the thing and It thought that might decide it but maybe there would be another round somehow, and then when Sam’s stayed on and that was it. Victory! It might be the hardest I’ve yelled at a Taskmaster screen since the end of season 10, and this time it went my way!
It's 2023 now, and I'm no longer so desperate for a bit of adrenaline or excitement in life that I need to turn to Taskmaster for it. Sports are back, I've been back at mine, in a reduced capacity due to a whole bunch of factors and I'm having a bit of an existential crisis about it but that's a different issue. The point is, though, that I do still enjoy that aspect of this stupid fucking television show. In addition to how funny it is when Alex Horne makes sly Fawlty Towers references and then requests a bedtime story with a straight face. Or when Julian Cleary explains that Lucy Beaumont is playing a horn because she's French. It's all good. Everything about the show is good. This was a great season.

My Top 10 BL's of 2022
Cause why not.
10. Secret Crush on You
The cringe was real, but so was how much I didn't care and just enjoyed the shit out of this thing.
Tumblr media
9. Minato Shouji Coin Laundry
It was a battle in my head between this one and Old Fashioned Cupcake, but I'm gonna go with Minato. They were both great shows, but damn the sexual tension between Minato and Shin was just *chef's kiss* and the ending was so freaking satisfying. Add in the cinematography, which I truly believe was off the charts, and you've got a great show that I've re-watched probably three times already.
Tumblr media
8. Love in the Air
Was it Mame trash? Sure. Did I still adore it? Yes. I'm easy like that. Give me barely any plot and hand waving sexual assault, but throw in a daddy kink and a man bun, and I fold like a stack of cards apparently.
Tumblr media
7. Rak Diao (One Love)
I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this, but here we are. A lot of people didn't watch or didn't like this show and that's fair. But I respectfully disagree. The laugh track blended in for me very quickly. I don't know if it was just the nostalgia factor or the just the surrealness of having a very 'sitcom' BL I do not know, but genuinely enjoyed this, and so sad it didn't get the ratings it deserved.
Tumblr media
5. The Eclipse.
Just call me a sucker for a good ol' enemies to lovers, pro-lgbt, anti-authoritarian high school BL. Would probably be higher if the last couple of eps weren't so weird, but deserves to still be here for First crying alone.
Tumblr media
6. My Tooth Your Love
Great show. Only complaints are the lack of focus on the side couples, but just genuinely adored the progress of the main's arc. Gonna be a feel good re-watch for a long time.
Therapy Recommendations?? In my BL?? It's more likely than you think!
Tumblr media
4. Not Me
I don't know how I couldn't love this show honestly. Enemies to lovers, identity porn w/ twins, rag tag revolutionaries attempting to overthrow the government, Sing as a villain. Just, fuck, it was like it was written with me in mind. I'm glad OffGun are coming back, but damn this would've been a hell of a high note to go out on.
Be gay, do crimes, and steal my heart I guess.
Tumblr media
3. Semantic Error
Are y'all starting to realize I have an enemies to lovers thing? Cause damn. Anyway.
People a lot more talented than me have written way longer and better pieces on how great this show was, but yeah, it rocked. I've rewatched it multiple times, and read the manhua (yuck). Only complaint is the same with any Korean show, not long enough, but even what little we got feels like a delicious four course meal.
Tumblr media
2. KinnPorsche VegasPete
Don't take this as a slight on KinnPorsche, because I adore them, but VegasPete honestly ensnared me body and soul. It may be a symptom of the fact that VP got less screen time than KP, but damn. It's just an obsession I'll probably not going to be getting over any time soon, and I really don't want to.
The not joking around enemies to lovers plot, the daddy issues, the straight up not fucking joking around BDSM. I mean, come on???
WHERE IS SEASON 2 BOC??? WHERE IS IT???
Tumblr media
1. Bad Buddy
What's that? Bad Buddy came out in 2021 and barely had any episodes in 2022? Sorry, I've suddenly gone deaf.
But seriously, none of that matters. What matters is that the last episode came out in 2022 and absolutely rocked my world. I took the day off WORK for that episode. I made @bluebladerose block off her calendar at work so as soon as the episode ended I could call her and scream about it uninterrupted (and she, at this point, had not watched the show or any other BL for that matter). I could barely even tell her what had happened, and just proceeded to CRY like a child about it from pure damn joy.
It was joy in the face of pain, it was choosing happiness and love in the face of everything. It was letting all of us little queer kids know that it is possible to keep your family AND the one you love. It said that love was friendship, and happiness, and made you stronger and better and was worth fighting for no matter that it's hard.
It was cathartic and beautiful and everything I ever wanted. I'll never get over it. As far as I'm concerned, the moment Pat opened that door to see Pran on the other side was a cultural reset and nothing else will ever compare.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mentions:
Old Fashioned Cupcake. Fantastic. Only one kiss, but it's a doozy
Love Stage!! Probably should be on the TOP 10, but it's been so long since I watched it, and couldn't bring myself to fight for it over any of the other shows.
Cutie Pie. The very definition of PWP in TV form, but who cares when Zee looks like that. Damn.
Unlucky-Kun must Kiss. Cute. Feel good. Did not live up to the High heat promise from the earlier episodes, but still good rewatch value.
Roommates of Poongduck 304. Cute. Loved it being about adults. Loved it.
Triage. Unf. So good.
Between Us & My School President Will be on the Top 10 list for 2023
Dishonorable Mentions that should be burnt in a fire:
The Miracle of Teddy Bear. The only good thing to come from this show was @bluebladerose's increasing horror as I spent four hours I spent explaining the plot to her and also this screenshot which was my background for a week.
Tumblr media
(Yes, okay, there were some good parts and I did enjoy the dynamic with the mom as someone who is currently dealing with an aging mother, but also jfc I'm a good person and did not deserve that ending.)
See you all in 2023!

Realistically if you are fans of an original on Max, or any WB product featured on Max, that did not routinely hit the top 10 during the sum of their release period, it is time to consider that show dead.
This decision was already looming and between the lines of what Zaslav was saying before the strikes.
Unless said show has a reality or sitcom level budget and has high yield, they aren't going to bother in the new market. It's no longer about content padding or 'massive libraries' as he's learning. It's about what is going to draw people in.
Frankly I even worry for shows like House of the Dragon, because they still were spending almost 20M/episode to get returns that The Winchesters almost mirrored with next to no real marketing at like 3M/ep. Which is just, you know. If it's only running 1/3 lower but costs 1/6th as much to make it's not rocket science here on which is genuinely the more profitable product.
The base line is something investors are caring about, the ability to be genuinely profitable. WBD just axed out its operational deficit earlier this year before it hit, but a great deal of that came with the streamer content rush, alongside WBD's habit of churning out nonsense on CW, AND then losing its Netflix deal, which is why the CW boycott kicked them in the dick so hard, and now they've lost control of that platform and are about to bounce out, starting in Atlanta and going abroad, leaving the corpse gradually to paramount and nexstar, until paramount also bounces.
But their ability to tax write off through CW as "losses" while reaping the rewrds is now absent for them, meaning they truly have to foot their own bills for original content. And that has to be content that truly draws in and *retains* viewers through the year.
Currently, the least expensive Max plan is 9.99$/mo. To go ad free lite, 16. To go ad free and actually get 4K, 20. They've cut off free trials and so on. So let's just go half-and-half and set a median here of like, $15/mo. Assume it all tumbles between to about that. And they're at about 100 million subscribers. Ok, so you realize that's about 1.5 billion revenue per year. Netflix has a little over double that, and so on.
But let's say your original show is like HOTD and costs about 20M/ep at 7 episodes. Okay, that's 140M for the season, and you risk people unsubbing after like 2 months unless you pull them in with another property.
Let's say your original show is like The Winchesters, and is 3M for 13 episodes. Round up even, let's say 40 million, to hold people 3-4 months.
Let's say that 3-4M cost hangs over Supernatural length shows, we'll say 22 since it fluxed a bit. 88M for 22 episodes and 5 1/2 months TV if nonstop without breaks, 6-7 if they do classic release breaks. Still way the fuck cheaper than HOTD.
And Winchesters/SPN was running in the same streaming league. What they really want is 10 Supernaturals for at least 2 main TV seasons a year, not 10 HOTDs, because the marginal success difference doesn't actually match the returns. They might keep HOTD just to keep GOT fans on platform, but expect there to Not Be Many New Shows Like That Ordered.
10 Supernaturals* they could crank out at say 900Million. And the next season 900 Million for the other part of the year, and ope--there went your streaming surplus. Which is why growth and retention of members matters so much to them (and sends a real strong painful signal when current events lose them traction.)
And that's operating on lower end budget shows like we're talking about. And why they can't keep doing HOTDs.
Realistically, their slate of originals is more going to be:
up to 10 Supernaturals* released 5/5 in year halves, 900M
up to 10 Sitcoms at 1M/ep x 22 = 220M
up to 10 Reality shows at 1/3M/ep x 21 = 70Mish
1-2 HOTDs. No more.
---- round up for ease/flex, let's say 1.2B. Oh, look, and without HOTDs or with some coproduction/cofinancing then there's money to pay residuals, and the rest will come from them gaining membership without fucking up.
Keep in mind, this would be "peak goal" releases. The strikes might ironically enable jumping forward a bit though as most of their liquid cash has been rotting unuseable, so they may be able to do this without a curve.
But these are the things investors are looking at. Start looking at 25-30 custom shows per streamer per calendar year, not the like 150+ WBD alone has scattered across various delivery methods, ranging from TMZ news to whatever. And even if half of those are cofinanced, you're looking at way the fuck less TV, end of. A lot of legacy shows from the 90s are going to die flat, and with it like half of that. Okay so lets say like 75. Only if they cofinanced *everything* would that work, and they won't. And so on, and so on, and so on.
Expect at least half of shows across the industry on all streamers to end up being news/reality. Center streamers owned by big industry shit might COLLECTIVELY pump out 150/calendar year, not individually by the time we go full digital--that will scale up as streamers centralize and things stop being scattered on linear TV, but don't expect that to stabilize until about 2028. From 2024-2026, expect like an average of 30/per, half scripted, so let's say 15/per, and land at like. 90-100ish custom shows over the year in the scripted variety.
This is similar to old TV: 3 hourly slots (closing down to 2 lately) x 6 days week x 5 channels x 4 seasons, 360 shows altogether including various unscripted and weekend game shows. 2 hourly slots x 5 days week x 5 channels x 3 seasons realistically, = 150. There, that's what linear really looks like on main linear broadcast outsdie the random shit thrown around on cable on the cheap, which I'm just refusing to bother mathing out their intake/outake on. This should illustrate enough.
Cable is on the way to collapse, but certain brands like BET and VH1 will be saved by people like Tyler Perry centering black entertainment, for example. Fox is about to be in trouble since it really lacks a central strategy. Tubi? Who the fuck uses Tubi? Fox Sports? That's ... great for sports, I guess? They shove people towards Hulu but that's Disney. That's due to a merger where Disney got everything from 21st century fox, but fox remains independent in mostly news and sports. Odds are, Fox as we know it linear will perish to other distributors for parts. And I mean, good, I guess, news considered, and idk if anyone will even want to carry their news. They can try to fight to keep sportsball or whatever but Fox feels like it's nearing the end of its journey. In fact this article says they intentionally sat out the stream wars. They don't care about moving forward, and kinda saw the Gold Of My Own take as dumb. Which, realistically, fair.
Netflix. Amazon. Maybe Disney, but even it's struggling. The next best positioned is actually Max, doing better than Disney until this all hit, but now wobbling under the strikes. Fox is just gonna go Fuckin Wherever, and Disney will own most of their TV shit anyway.
So if we put 4-5 major streamers at 30 custom shows a year that's about 120-150. And the books will balance. But expect a lot of smaller streamers to die or get bought out. By the end of this, there will be no more than 5 streamers, at best. Fox is going to become more a content creator than distributor, and so on.
This is what you should start expecting the streaming environment to look like by 2025. By 2028 once memberships are stabilized and linear TV drops like an old brick, it may intensify, but even that in gradient.

gay bitch fangirls over always sunny
i've just realized that tumblr is the perfect place for a queer bitch to nerd out about her favorite show. i finished it a month ago and...oof, i love this thing. i find it weirdly beautiful in a way. i enjoy seeing the most dysfunctional people put to air's misadventures, and i am definitely one of the disturbed people this show comforts lmao.
despite functionally/nominally about being horrible people doing horrible things, the gang somehow never quite lose every scrap of humanity they have; i guess by virtue of being white trash instead of upper-class. there are times when the gang are appalled at the atrocities someone ELSE comments, and sometimes when even they feel maybe they're going too far. (they usually don't things like "no" stop em tho...)
i also love the way it weaponizes every facet of being a sitcom, and uses them to comment on what happens within the show: +you can just pop in at any time during the show's run and not be too lost, not extremely reliant on past events & arcs
-the gang experiencing extremely traumatic events is not an "arc" or something that is ever dealt with/brought up again, considering their ol' reliable is drinking it down & not talking about it
-as sitcoms go on, they typically become sadder, as it just gets depressing that this group of people literally has nothing else to do with their lives.
+depressing is the point.
-as sitcoms go on, characters typically undergo "flanderization", where previously minor aspects of their character become their entire personality within the show. typically is extremely annoying
+the gang functions as a vicious echo chamber that they are trapped within, as no one in the outside world can stand being with them. also, they are CHRONIC abusers of alcohol & a million other substances like glue. it makes sense that charlie only becomes more illiterate, considering his habits (which include eating cat food & huffing glue) never really change
-to keep sitcoms running, the characters remain perfectly static throughout, and it is only really the situations & people around them that change
+the core of what makes the characters who they are doesn't change much over 15 seasons, but they DO grow with the times; just very, VERY slowly. i think they've handled this adeptly; in season 10, they eased off dennis' creep-oness in the second episode by having him be on the RECEIVING end of his weird rating system, in one of the most hilarious & quotable moments of a show that is already hilarious & quotable throughout. I'M A FIVE STAR MAN!!!!
there's prolly even more i can't think of. but it is such BRUTAL satire of...basically anything i CAN think of. it's this satire that gives depth to, what on the surface, might appear as a banal show that only exists to be offensive. the writers actually do NOT write to offend anybody (except maybe rly stuffy stuck-up ppl lmao)! it started as basically just wanting to write a sitcom that's "real", about a group of friends that are NEVER there for each other (tho they ARE there for each other, sometimes!). and this ended up being the perfect vehicle to satirize a LOT of facets about american life.
i also LOVE the way sunny handles queerness! it is not something that inherently makes you a better NOR a worse person, but it's also smth that always deserves respect, no matter who the queer person is. this is where its sitcom format works beautifully yet again; after mac's genuinely moving coming out moment as the s13 finale, s14 starts off...the way any other season starts off, and i LOVE that.
(sidenote: i don't think mac's brief coming out then re-entering the closet in s11 is an issue! that's real life. a friend of mine realized she was prolly trans, then decided she wasn't, and recently re-realized that she is lol. THAT'S LIFE!!!! tho, it would've been an issue if mac NEVER came out i think, but they had him come out in s12, and come out beautifully to his dad in s13)
i think always sunny succeeds at having...let's say, "very morally complicated" characters, while not accidentally glorifying them as much as the sopranos or breaking bad (tho i still love those shows hehe), while still having them be human. i think it is a beautifully human show. the show does not lie in the SLIGHTEST about who these people are, yet i am still excited to see another season with this gang i somehow do still root for. it shows us EVERYTHING about who these people are with less shame than we think about ourselves. we share in their every high, every low [of which there are many], and everything in between. and that's what bein' human is all about.

Wish list for season 2 of Wednesday.
I am a long time fan of the Addams Family, and after spending a weekend at the beganing of the month visiting a close friend, who insisted I watch this show... well I found it kooky, pleasantly creepy, and pretty charming. It is a modern take on the the franchise and I can definitely see modern tropes: Enid loving social media, the dance theme, coffee shop hangouts. But is also clear from Wednesday's dance, love of history, the secret societies, Pugsly fishing with grenades and eating potpourri, Thing being the family's garden creature...the directors are definitely aware of the long history of the franchise and are trying to be respectful to the classic elements... (something I am grateful for after Sony showed them so little respect with its new movies). I do not think this series was perfect, but I do count myself a fan, and am very glad to hear we will get a season 2 early into the new year. Here are somethings I would like to see happen in season 2. (Note I am writing this assuming season 2 will take place in the new school semester.). (Second note I am aware many things I want may not happen because I am an adult and this show is primarily marketed as a teen sitcom. But I have heard that a lot of adults watch the too, and the directors seem to know that many adults grew up on The Addams Family, and that if they do the show right they could make something different generations of a family could watch together)
1.) First thing I want is a longer season. 8 episodes was not nearly enough time to sort through this whole mystery, to many plots were rushed, and to many plot points were dropped before they should be. Most series I am used to get 20+ episodes a season and Wednesday did not even get half of that. For next season can we please have 10-15 episodes minimum.
2.) The second thing I want is to see some more Gomez and Morticia. I have seen some people say that they do not like this Gomez and Morticia, because they do not have the chemistry of the couple. Which considering a lot of those people did like their past flashback depictions, what they probably mean is that they do not like seeing Morticia and Gomez just as parents with their daughter, and would like to see more of their famously happy, passionate, and supportive relationship with each other. I understand. I want that too. But that’s a little hard to do with them living outside of nevermore and only popping in every now and again to check on their daughter. So I do want them to both get jobs at the school so we can see more of the family. I do not think that would necissarly take away from Wednesday and her friends. Wednesday would still presumably live in the dorm with Enid, want to spend her time solving mysteries and occasionally hanging out with her friends, and she would still think her parents are annoying because she is at that age. Gomez and Mortica would just be around if she and her friends got in more trouble than they could handle on their own. Plus they would probably bring Pugsley with them and I really want him and Eugene to be room mates/science friends.
But I would only want to see more of the Addams if the show stays authentic to their characters. I am really bothered by the show saying Morticia was Captian of the fencing team while she was at Nevermore. Morticia does not Fence. That is Gomez’s passion. It has always been Gomez’s passion in every version of the show, He has had different secondary hobbies (In 1960′s he did zen yoga, in 1990′s movies he golfed) but he has always had a love for the saber. Morticia’s passions are gardening (ie growing thorns and carnivorous plants like Cleopatra) and helping out her favorite charities (she also sometimes paints or knits). If it seems like I am making a big deal about this its only because one of the things that made Morticia and Gomez so healthy was how balanced they were. They liked to talk and check in with each other as much as they liked to make out and more. They loved spending time together but also had relationships with their children and extended family that they placed importance on. They did activities together but also had personal hobbies that they did not require he other to share. Morticia is a very fun character and her interests and hobbies are enough. There is no need to make her into Gomez in a dress. .
Send both parents to Nevermore to get jobs. Do not give the principal job to Morticia. Give it to Gomez because he is the one who likes offices, business negotiations, finances, and legal stuff that comes with principal duties. Have Morticia take over Thornhill’s job as botanical sciences teacher. This job would make a lot more scenes for Morticia when you take in to count her first hand knowledge and enjoyment on the subject, her social and nurturing personality being a great fit for teaching. Plus the show is putting a bigger emphasis on Morticia and Wednesday’s mother daughter relationship. Putting Moritcia as Wednesday’s teacher would allow the two to spend more time together than her being principal would. Morticia could also get to know some of Wednesday’s friends, and it would be nice for Wedneday to see more of her mom up close as a career women, since up until now she has only seen her as a housewife/stay at home mother
3.) Lurch can be vice principal, Pugsley again needs to come to Nevermore and room with Eugene. Uncle Fester could maybe be a teacher to. Or, since he already has his own stuff going on, and since visits from him actually makes Wednesday break out grinning, let him keep doing his own thing and just popping in as a special treat. Thing becomes the new Dorm Parent of Ophelia Hall. I want that last one more than any of the others. Thing did such a great job taking care of Wednesday and Enid. Every child/teen deserves someone like Thing looking out for them.
4.) More focus on the kids powers. We got some pretty good focus on Sirens and Hydes, and okay focus on Gorgon’s but we did not see much of Werewolf’s, Vampires, or whatever Xavier and Eugene (Wizards???) are.
Give Yoko and her vampire abilities some spot light, Enid can wolf out now so show me her doing things to train and strengthen her new wolf form (Have Wednesday help. let them take a martial arts class or do drills runs together). What are the rules for Xavier’s art creatures; like how complete/shaded does he have to draw them before he can bring them to life? How much movement do they gain? Do they have to stay within a certain proximity to him to maintain their life? Or once he gives it to them do they have it until they die (Wednesday killing the spider he showed her)?. Does Ajax really always use cover his snakes or is here any instant where using his powers is beneficial? Like could he camouflage a person as a statue for a spying mission? Can he stone objects to make them heavier for weapons, or to change there weight to protect items for being stolen... Could stoning a person in a injured state hold their state until help arrived? After what happened with Laurel I want to See Eugene become a bit more popular and his interest in bee’s become regarded as more cool. He and the Bee’s deserve it!
5.) Alright let's get into the romance aspect. In season 1 we have been introduced to about 3 possible ships for Wednesday: Tyler Galpin, Xavier Thrope, Enid Sinclair. Tyler and Xavier both have big crushes on her. Wednesday at first tries to enter into transactional relationships with them to gain knowledge and resources. Xavier is a seer who knows more about visions than her and seems to be aware of clues about the monster through some kind of connection. Tyler has a car and is willing to drive Wednesday to investigations. Also being the son of the police chief Wednesday is able to get information out of him when his father is no help. Tyler and Xavier make up Wednesday’s season 1 love triangle. (Side note if we ever have a love triangle again can we please get boys that don't look so much alike. I had to pause so many times to try and remember "wait which one of them has long hair?" or, "who is it that works at the coffee shop?".) In the season Climax Wednesday decides Xavier has to be the Hyde (didn't she already give the cops a rag with his blood to test and it came back as no match? Come on girl) and gets him arrested, then goes to see Tyler seemingly having decided to chose him. Upon a first kiss though she has a vision where she see's him turning into the Hyde change back into Tyler after killing its latest villain. So much for their new relationship. She sets a trap for him and tries to force him to turn, but she proves to be as bad an interrogator as she was a detective (seriously girl). When Tyler's dad picks them up Tyler asks his dad to give him one moment to say good bye to Wednesday. Under his breath he confesses to knowing he is the Hyde, loving it (his eyes water at this so some fans think he is being corsed to say it), and gloats over beating her. Xavier tells Wednesday he wants nothing to do with her anymore. She betrayed him, and even afterwards had the nerve to demand help from him without offering so much as an apology. Buy in the final fight she jumps in front of him taking an arrow to the shoulder and he seemingly forgives her after that (little to easy if you ask me). As the season ends Tyler escapes custody and we can expect to see both boys again in season 2.
Enid is Wednesday's roommate who while only being confirmed to like guys (Ajax) does give off big bisexual energy. She is a wearwolf, but until the final can only develop wolf claws. She did not have any powers or prior knowledge that would be of help to Wednesday against the monster. Her personality and taste are the exact opposite of Wednesday's. Now with all that in mind it can also be noticed that Enid is not scared at all of Wednesday or her family (Thing and Enid become fast besties), Wednesday did really seem to warm up to/ genuienly want Enid as friend despite their differences. Lastly it's clear by the final episode that Enid is the friend Wednesday has bonded with the most out of everybody. Which of these characters do I want Wednesday to end up with...?
None of them. Someone mentioned that Tyler acted shady because he always agreed with and sided with Wednesday, as opposed to Xavier and Enid who always helped her but also were willing to argue with her when they disagreed. They were right that was shady, especially when his master chose "making her feel special" as a way to manipulate her. I think he did mean what he said in the police station. His Hyde talking through him might have been an argument I would believe if we heard his Hyde talk before, but we don't. Lastly I am taking his voice actors word that while Tyler may be physically attracted to Wednesday he also hates her and Outcast kind, that he blames them all for what happened to his mother. I think his mother was the reason he was holding back tears, not Wednesday. On Wednesday's side while the Addams do forgive crime and malice, they don't forgive people trying to take those closest to them away, and Tyler tried to murder both Eugene and Enid, plus made a fool of Wednesday. For those "he was controlled" saying Wednesday should become Tyler's master and help him use his Hyde for good... are you watching a show about Wednesday Addams? If that is true, Wednesday should never be allowed to have that power over someone because it's far more likely she would abuse it just like Laurel did. In that case Tyler did not deserve one sadistic master, much less two.
As for Xavier... after the way she treated him in season 1, and how she still doesn't really recognize that she was in the wrong/bad to him. Instead she just says "you need to forgive me because I still need to use your knowledge"...well even after the arrow he should be really careful about trusting her. From what we have seen this boy tends to crushes on dangerous people and is willing to forgive a lot, but won't be date people he has trouble trusting. Plus even if he forgives her, Wednesday's main connection with Xavier is that they are both psychics. Xavier frustrates her in that regard because he has no faith in either of their visions, and laughs at her needing to believe in her new powers. Both these two would need to undergo a lot of work to make it as a couple, and I think they are better friends.
Moving on to Enid. Yes I think Enid is bi. Yes, this is Wednesday's best, and easiest flowing relationship.. Why is it her best relationship? Well for one thing their opposite personalities bounce off each other. For another Enid's friendship with Thing helps Wednesday to trust her and allows Thing to mediate the girls disputes. Three Enid is a pack creature and as prickly, dumb, and dangerous as Wednesday can be Enid counts her as pack. As such, even if Enid is mad at Wednesday she will forgive her and have her back when trouble comes because that is what pack-mates do. But a final reason I think Wednesday is able to be so close with Enid is that they are platonic, and that is much easier for Wednesday to handle than a romance.  People are linking Wednesday and Enid’s Goth/sunny dynamic to duo’s like Starfire&Raven or Ty-lee&Mai. I see that I do, but they also remind me a bit of Criminal Minds Derek Morgan&Penelope Garcia. To anyone who hadn’t seen CM the way to describe Morgan and Garcia is that if you watch one or two episodes with them you will think they are a couple because they flirt a lot.Watch more and you realize they are platonic and the flirting is their way of teasing/playing with each other. It’s how they help the other de-stress. Watch an episode where either is actually around someone they genuinely have romantic feelings for and you see how them struggle and have a hard time maintaining such a relationship.
In every version of Wednesday I have seen she has cared about her family/friends but struggled with romance. Let's not forget how in the second movie she and Joel crushed mad on each other at summer camp. But then after camp, when he asked her how she felt about being in a relationship, she got uncomfortable and tried to scare him to death. Enid is a good bestie to her. Tyler is set up as an antagonist, and the show writers want her and Xavior to be her friend in season 2. I want this to be a running theme of the show. Have different people crush on Wednesday, she may briefly consider them, but the relationships will go wrong, and they will either become enemies or friends by the next season. Keep Wednesday's friends/Scooby Doo team her main relationships though.
6.) Finally since we are on the subject of friends here are some friendships I want to see more of in season 2: Wednesday&Enid, Wednesday&Xavier, Xavier&Ajax (show/wiki claims they bro's. I like bromances), Wednesday&Eugene. Eugene& Pugsley (I want. Please), Bianca&Xavier (they seem to know about each others parent issues and support the other), Bianca&Kent (siren who helped her at The Poe Cup. What's there relationship?), Gomez&Officer Galpin. (Make these two enemies to friends in season 2.)
