. . .
“Harry?”
Y/N’s gnawing on the skin of her bottom lip as she wrings her hands in her lap, nervousness apparent on her facial features. Harry glances up from his phone — he’s been mindlessly scrolling through cat videos on Instagram for the past half an hour or so, Friends on in the background as he and Y/N sit snuggled up in cozy throw blankets.
She’d been working up the courage to say something for nearly two hours now, but everytime she went to part her lips and force the words out of her throat, she clammed up.
She couldn’t help the anxiety that crept through her bones, especially because she was used to constantly being looked down on. She knows Harry would never make her feel bad for any choice she made for herself, but what if he thought she was crazy? What if her trauma was too much to deal with? These were the worries that circulated her brain for days, ever since deciding that she wanted to seek out professional mental health help a few weeks ago.
“Hm?” he puts his phone down, locking the screen, “What’s up, dovie?”
Fidgeting with the skin surrounding her chipped nail polish, she swallows tightly. His eyes are analyzing her body language and she suddenly feels small and foolish beneath his gaze, solely because of the trauma from her parents.
They always treated her like she was less than, to the point where she wholeheartedly, truly believed it. In the few months that Y/N’s been on her own and officially dating Harry, he’s been helping her in ways she could have never imagined, but she didn’t want all of her issues to fall on him. It’s the main reason why she decided to find a therapist.
“I’ve been thinking,” she rasps out, her voice cracking. “I think I’m going to start seeing a counselor. To deal with my, um… parents.”
Harry’s posture straightens and his eyebrows furrow, a concerned wrinkle forming between them. (It always showed up when Y/N mentioned anything relating to her family.)
“What do you mean?”
Rolling her lips into her mouth, she prepares the speech she’s been practicing in her head for days.
“I just know I have a lot of trauma from them and I don’t want you to feel responsible for helping me through it all the time,” she says, reciting the explanation word-for-word, “It’s important for me to figure this out on my own and I want it to come from a mental health professional.”
Harry's look of worry almost instantly morphs into a gentle smile. He reaches out to intertwine their fingers together and gives her hand a small squeeze, much to Y/N’s relief. She was terrified he’d take it the wrong way, but the proud expression on his face says different.
“That’s incredible, dovie. I’m so proud of you.”
He leans forward to press a kiss to her forehead, the showcase of love instantly slowing her heartbeat.
“You’re not mad?” she asks, peering up at him through thick eyelashes.
“Of course not,” he shakes his head. “I could never be mad at you for wanting to work on yourself. I think it’ll be really helpful for you. Have you found someone yet?”
“No. I wanted to run it past you before looking.”
His heart cracks a bit but he tries not to let it show on his face. “You never have to do that, okay? You’re your own person, baby, and I have no right to tell you what to do with your life. Alright?”
It’s a strange way to look at life after having every decision of her life planned out for her since birth. She’s still adjusting — that much is obvious, but it isn’t her fault, and Harry works regularly to help her realize that in small doses.
“Would you maybe help me find a person?” Y/N peeps out, playing with his fingers in her lap. Her eyes are set on their hands, still too nervous to look at him face-to-face. Harry, though he has no experience looking for therapists himself, still nods enthusiastically, willing to help her take whatever steps she needs.
“Why don’t you grab your laptop?” he suggests. She reaches forward to pull it off the coffee table before Harry wraps an arm around her waist, pulling her into his side. She makes a soft ah!, surprised by his sudden movements, which of course results in a small, snarky smile on his end.
Shuffling so the laptop is in his lap now, he opens it, has her put her password in, and searches up “therapists near me.” His eyes float to the nervous girl beside him, who’s taken up gnawing on her fingernails as he clicks on the first result. It’s a directory of mental health professionals close to them where you can filter by specialities, insurance, and other preferences.
“Okay, dovie,” he croons gently, “What are you looking for in particular? Someone to help with stress?”
She shrugs. “Um, maybe something a bit more. Maybe… anxiety? A-and family stuff?”
“That’s a good starting point,” he encourages, clicking on the appropriate filters. Immediately, a number of therapists that originally showed up disappear, but it still leaves them with a decent amount to scroll through. “Anything else? Do you have a preference on gender or how far they are from us?”
“I think I want a woman,” she says before glancing up at him with worried eyes, “Is that okay?”
“Of course it is.”
He clicks the “female” preference, resulting in around 15 options for them to look at. She continues biting her nail as Harry scrolls down. He periodically hovers over someone, asking her if she’d like to look at them more. She’ll either nod or shake her head, but in the event of the former, he’ll open their profile in a separate tab.
Eventually, they narrow it down to three but one isn’t actively taking new clients, so it’s between Leanna, who looks to be around Harry’s mom’s age and is located 20 minutes from Y/N’s apartment, and Madeline, a younger woman with experience in a myriad of mental health concerns.
Quietly, Y/N alternates between the two tabs, contemplating and comparing their experiences. He can tell that she’s having difficulty picking, but he doesn’t want to say anything to sway her in one direction over the other — he wants this to fully be her choice.
“I think I like Madeline.” she says, looking up at her boyfriend. Her eyes are slightly rounded, lips parted as if she’s waiting for approval from Harry.
“Sounds like a good choice, dove. How’d you settle on her?”
Y/N shrugs her shoulders, scrolling down on her profile page. “Well, she has experience with anxiety, depression, and trauma… and I’ve been reading a bit online, and I think I do have some trauma from my parents, so…”
Harry nods, smoothing her hair comfortingly.
“And I like that she seems like she’s closer in age to us… it might make me feel more comfortable, like I’m talking to a friend,” she explains. He hums in agreement. “She also has a cat at her office, which I really like, too.”
He chuckles and leans over to nose at her hair, pressing a kiss to the crown of her head.
“I think those are all great reasons,” he murmurs.
He won’t admit it tonight because he doesn’t want her to get too nervous, especially if she ultimately decides she’s too scared to go, but he’s infinitely proud of her right now. He’s contemplated bringing up therapy to her for the past few months, particularly right after he helped her move out of her parents’ home.
The fact that she came to that decision herself is enough for him to feel over the moon, his chest swelling with pride. Even if she backs out at the last minute, at the very least, he knows she’s trying her best, and that’s all he could ever ask of her.
“Why don’t you email her and send your information?” Harry suggests lightly, breaking Y/N out of her own trance of thinking. With a swallow, she nods, clicking on the little mail symbol next to Madeline’s name.
He watches as she composes an email, her fingers stuttering over the keys every few minutes. He can tell that she’s over-thinking on what to say, but she eventually settles on a short, to-the-point message: Hi Madeline, my name is Y/N and I was interested in seeing you for therapy. Are you taking on new clients at the moment?
“Great,” Harry blurts out once she presses ‘send’. She looks up at him. “You did great.” he amends, a light blush flowering over his cheeks.
All she does is smile and bury herself into his chest.
. . .
“Here, why don’t you wear this to your appointment?”
Y/N thinks that Harry may be even more nervous for her first therapy session than she is.
Although she’s busying around her apartment, getting her things together in preparation for her 11 am appointment, Harry’s movements are just as jerky and anxious. She’s currently looking for her favorite comfy sweatshirt when he suddenly peels off the fuzzy cardigan he’s wearing, handing it to her. It’s the one he bought on sale at Urban Outfitters a few weeks back when they had some time off from work and school. They’d been traipsing through the shops nearby with no intention of actually buying something, but Harry had said that he liked how it felt like a teddy bear.
“Oh, but you’re already wearing that,” Y/N says with a pout, shaking her head. “It’s okay, I’ll find something else—”
“No, I want you to wear it,” he insists. “Maybe it’ll help make you feel more comfortable? Having something of mine?”
She blinks, slowly reaching out to accept it from his grasp. “What will you wear though?”
“I think I’ve left a few sweatshirts here,” he says, popping up from his seat on the edge of her bed. “Don’t you have that little drawer with all my stuff?”
She nods. It hadn’t really been an intentional thing, but when she told Lucy about it, she explained to her that it was kind of a big deal. Apparently, having a drawer at your significant other’s apartment meant that you were moving in the direction of living together, but Y/N didn’t see it that way. It was more for the sake of convenience, especially if Harry came over after work and decided to stay over instead of heading back to his place.
She walks over to her dresser and yanks open the top drawer. It’s filled to the brim with tee-shirts, sweatshirts, and two pairs of sweatpants, all of which belong to Harry. She glances over at him, embarrassed, and he laughs.
“Geez, dovie, think you’re a bit obsessed with me,” he teases, grabbing one of the hoodies. She rolls her eyes.
“You’re the one that leaves this stuff here all the time!”
“Yeah, but it looks like you’re building some kind of shrine—”
“Oh, shush!” she says, pulling his cardigan on. She’ll admit, the fabric is heavenly, and the fact that it smells like Harry is a massive added bonus. “Are you still fine to drive me?”
He nods quickly once he has his sweatshirt on, grabbing his car keys. “Ready when you are, baby.”
He makes her take a granola bar and a water bottle on her way out, both of them bidding Lucy a goodbye when they exit the apartment. Y/N has a bad habit of not wanting to eat when she’s nervous, but Harry can guarantee that her stomach will start rumbling as soon as she’s done with today’s session.
They climb into the familiarity of Harry’s car, Y/N taking her usual seat on the passenger’s side. She hasn’t driven much since cutting off communication with her parents. Obviously, she left the car they bought her, and she doesn’t have enough money in her savings to buy another one, even if it’s used or a lease.
Since she didn’t get the job at the bookstore, she’s been looking for other part-time opportunities on campus but nothing’s come up yet. Harry offered to get her some work at the shop, but she felt too weird about having her boyfriend pay her for silly tasks like cleaning up and scheduling appointments.
Madeline’s office isn’t too far away, and Harry took the morning off to take her. He said — quote — “I’m clearing my schedule, dovie — no appointments, meetings, and certainly no drug deals!”. (That had made Y/N snort over the Chinese food they shared for dinner a few nights ago.)
The drive is mainly quiet, save for Harry’s quiet music playing in the background. She’s nervous and fidgety in her seat so he reaches over to intertwine their fingers together, giving her hand a small squeeze in her lap. It makes her feel a little bit better, but she wishes Harry could go to her appointment with her.
When they arrive, Harry pulls into a parking space just outside the door. They have 10 minutes before her session officially starts, but Madeline had asked if she could get there a bit early to fill out some paperwork.
“Feel okay?” Harry asks, pushing his sunglasses up to his hair. She nods, even though her heart is hammering in her ribs. “You’re gonna do great, dovie. I’ll be here as soon as you’re done.”
“Okay,” she breathes, watching as the clock ticks one minute closer to 11. She swallows harshly and unbuckles her seatbelt, grabbing her bag from the floor of Harry’s car. “I'll be done by 11:45, right?”
“11:45, baby. I’ll be right here.”
“Okay. Alright.”
He leans over to smear a quick kiss to her cheek and she smiles gently, though it doesn’t completely reach her eyes. She gets out of the car and straightens her posture, pulling Harry's cardigan tighter over her form, and winds around the front to walk in the direction of the front door.
It’s only then that Harry rolls down his window, despite the wet, dewy chill of the morning.
“Wait, Y/N!”
She turns around, an expression of confusion painting her features.
“I’m so proud of you!” he exclaims. He can see her blush from his spot in the car, a wide, toothy grin appearing on her face. “I’m so proud of you, and I love you so much.”
She mouths it back — I love you too — this time with a smile that lights up her entire face. She waves her fingers with one more goodbye before taking a deep breath and walking into the office building.
Harry can’t stop grinning to himself.

Dating A Foreign Partner
Ot7 x Reader
Summary: How the members would handle being in a relationship with a foreign S/o.
Warnings: brief mentions of racial/cultural discrimination,
A/N: Thank you to @bethanysnow for requesting this, I hope you like it!😘💜 I tried to keep these a bit lighter, but if there’s something more specific that any of you would like to see, lmk!
Masterlist
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Jin:
Sounds cliche, but I think he would really enjoy trying foods from where you're from, especially some of the more ‘unusual’ ones(I literally found out the other day that pb&j sandwiches are considered weird in Korea??)
I think you two would accidentally confuse each other with lesser known cultural differences, like when he first asks you to be official after only like two dates(which is normal in korean culture, but not so much in western dating)
Would become very aware of the prejudices and discrimination that foreign couples deal with in both your countries. Like, obviously he was aware it was an issue before, but dealing with it first hand made him realize just how much of an issue it was.
It would make his heart soo happy to see you learning how to speak Korean or embracing different parts of his culture.
(Secretly studies your native language to surprise you for your birthday or anniversary)
Yoongi:
I might be projecting a lil bit, but I can honestly see him having a foreign partner. Idk, I just see him not really paying much mind to things like race/nationality, he likes who he likes and that’s it.
Might be a little shy about how much more comfortable you are with things like casual skinship tho, but he also kinda secretly loves it.
He would really love that you’re so direct sometimes, rather than trying to ask for things in a more roundabout ‘polite’ way that is considered proper in Korean culture. He would love that you’re to the point, like him.
Would be so flattered if you made the effort to learn Korean, grinning so big the first time he hears you use even something little like “Hajima” correctly.
He’d do the same with your language too. Learning about your culture would be really important to him, he wants you to know that he appreciates you and where you came from.
Hobi:
Tbh, I totally see him with a foreign partner, he would love the variety and unique energy that you bring to each other's lives.
I think he would tend to forget some of the differences in how you both grew up until you mention something more drastic like school safety drills and he has to do a double take like “wtf?!”
I think he would love how open and expressive you are about your home and culture, and loves learning about where you came from. You’re his favorite person, he wants to know as much as possible about you!
Would have soo much fun teaching you about all the different holidays and traditions in Korea that differ from where you’re from.
Would be soo surprised if you learned to speak Korean, even if it’s just a few phrases at first. He just gets so happy and giggly hearing you speak.
Namjoon:
I think most people consider him the most likely out of the group to have a foreign partner, and tbh I kinda agree.
He would make a serious effort to learn as much about your country/culture as he could, possibly even wanting to visit there sometime with you.
Despite being pretty well versed in a lot of other cultures, he would definitely still have little moments of culture shock over random things like educational systems. Like I can imagine his surprise/confusion over the more lax approach in some schools or someone being homeschooled(hi).
Would be super impressed if you already knew some korean when you met, but if not, he’s more than happy to help you learn.
Lowkey quite protective over you, bc he knows how harsh Korean media can be towards celebrities having foreign partners.
Jimin:
Thinks your Korean is super cute! He finds it absolutely adorable the way you say certain words, and he loves the way you speak slowly and softly when you’re focused on pronouncing certain phrases correctly.
If you’re new to living in Korea, he would do his best to help you settle in and adjust to the differences in day to day life, as well as comforting you on the days when you feel homesick.
Loves learning about your culture, tho I think he would prefer learning from you than on his, just so he can watch how excited you get talking about your home.
Would be soo excited if he finds any similarities between your cultures, whether it’s how you celebrate certain holidays, or a similar dish. He loves finding those little connections.
Another who would be rather protective over you, especially if he knows you have anxieties about certain things due to public safety issues where you’re from. He just wants to make sure you to feel safe
Taehyung:
I know a lot of people see him as rather traditional when it comes to things like dating/relationships, but I could very much see him with a foreign partner, especially since he talked about wanting to live abroad at some point in the future.
I think he would find your different perspectives really refreshing, you really help broaden each other's horizons.
I honestly think he would be another who would sometimes forget the differences in how you both grew up until he brings up something and you’re like “We never did that??”
Lowkey brags about you every chance he gets like “Oh ,Y/n’s from (country name), and they were teaching me about-”
He never treats it as if you’re some sort of novelty tho, he just really loves you and wants to show you that he supports you and shares your pride for who you are and where you’re from.
Jungkook:
I think he would have a lot of fun with a foreign partner, learning about each other's cultures and sharing stories about your upbringings.
Might take him a while to adjust to things like your relationships/dynamics with other guys, just bc that’s not quite as common in Korea, but I could see him actually really enjoying it if you fit into his friend group bc of that.
Another that would feel rather protective over you for similar reasons as Joon. If anyone so much as looks at you weird, he’s gonna shut them down soo fast.
He loves hearing you speak in your native language, there’s something about it that’s just so soothing and melodic about it to him. But it’s only when you're speaking, it’s not the same with anyone else.
Would ask you to teach him so that he can hear you speak it more(study dates where you help each other would be super cute and cozy)

R Jamil Viper - Tsumsitter Voice Lines
Due to event restrictions, Groovy related lines are locked until the event has been cleared. I will update once these are unlocked. Login line has been captured. Tsumsitter Jamil does not have a vignette.
Tumblr media
Summon Line: The situation is just as it seems. I, too, have been tasked to look after this tsum that looks like me... Honestly, I don't have the time for this.
Groooovy!!: --LOCKED--
Home: Behave yourself, tsum.
Home Idle 1: Earlier, the tsum was studying the ingredients in the kitchen with fervent concentration. I can see the intensity in its gaze... Does it know how to cook...!?
Home Idle 2: The fact that this tsum isn't causing issues, despite being a tsum, is actually causing me to feel even more stressed. Hey, little guy... You're not scheming anything, right?
Home Idle 3: What's wrong, why are you trembling so pathetically...? Wait, do you hate bugs too? Hey, stop it! Don't push me! No using me as a shield!
Home Idle - Login: Since these tsums are already here, there's nothing I can do but grin and bear it. But if it's truly similar to me, it won't be a problem-child... Right?
Home Tap 1: The tsum Malleus-senpai is looking after holds the same sort of dignified aura. I'm curious how it will be hailed in Diasomnia.
Home Tap 2: Ruggie's tsum saw some food and leaped at it instantly. It doesn't even have a mouth, and it's still obsessed with eating...
Home Tap 3: According to Silver, this tsum is a lot more prudent when compared to the others. I see, so that's how it comes off.
Home Tap 4: Tsum, now that I take a closer look, I see that you have a hair clip with a feather on it. Amazing how there's yet another similarity between us.
Home Tap 5: ...Try not to rouse the tsum too much. We know nothing about this creature, and they do say that the more amiable something is, the scarier it is when provoked.

okay so what we’re not going to do is villainize shoko.
jjk 261 spoilers, thoughts, and a brief analysis of shoko. (and touching on some sashisu stuff. more specifically the sash part.)
i see a lot of people bashing her for not having a reaction to the body swapping plan and that satoru was like ‘i’m mostly surprised shoko didn’t object’ SO. here’s what i’ve got to say.
shoko didn’t object because she was fully under the belief that satoru was going to win. that it wasn’t going to happen. it was literally the worst worst worst WORST case scenario. she had SO MUCH faith in satoru.
let’s rewind back to the shibuya arc. what we knew about shoko at that time regarding her use of cigarettes was that she had quit five years (iirc) prior to those events. her smoking habits literally revolve around satoru’s wellbeing.
Tumblr media
mind you this was after she and yaga learned satoru had been sealed. she heard the news and immediately began smoking. why? because shoko is a person who masks her emotions and she does it well. she’s not the type of woman to break down in tears. she’s going to hide it and instead light up a cigarette.
we saw this with her interaction with suguru. she acted very nonchalant about his defection and the massacre he committed on the village and his parents. but when we fast forward ten years and go to jjk0, it’s made abundantly clear that she still cares about him. during the meeting where yaga declares they’re going to kill suguru — i’m pretty sure his words were ‘exorcise the curse that is geto suguru’ or something along those lines — shoko leaves. she flat out walks out. and during the night parade of 100 demons, we have a moment where see the most emotion out of shoko that we have for the majority of the series. she’s angry. she’s hurt. she has these thoughts of something along the lines of like ‘you sure made a mess for us’ regarding suguru. and it’s especially prominent because it’s the first time we’ve ever seen her like this and only time. the closest we get to seeing that again is during the sukuna fight.
she literally cares so much but she’s just emotionally constipated and doesn’t know how to show it 😭 it’s an issue both she and satoru have. they deflect. they mask. they move on and yet the carry it with them somewhere deep inside them.
so we go back forward to satoru and sukuna’s fight. where we do see emotion from shoko but what’s most important to note is the panels she’s in. when they focus on her, she’s either smoking a cigarette, lighting a cigarette up, or we see her surrounded by cigarette butts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we see her genuinely fearful at this point. she had full confidence that satoru was going to win. that’s why she said ‘do what you want’ and didn’t object. because in her mind, it wouldn’t happen.
it’s very important to remember that sashisu, whether you see it in a romantic or platonic way, was a group that cared so fucking deeply for one another. their bonds were deep. their love for their found family was deep. it’s part of the reason why suguru defected in the end. which i can get it into but not at this time. but at the end of the day, sashisu had ass communication skills and failed to properly understand one another.
and that seems to continue on with the satoshoko side of that, which was left after suguru left. and after he died.
also, it’s really important to remember that shoko is not like satoru and suguru. she’s a healer. that’s it. that’s all she does. she doesn’t get to fight or be on the front lines like they do. she’s the one who gets to wait behind and wait until the damage is done to do her job. she’s been doing this since she was (probably) 15, maybe even younger since we don’t know her backstory. she’s going to be emotionally detached. also, keep in mind this page:
Tumblr media
specifically her first piece of dialogue. ‘it’s more like we have to do it.’
and that’s the bottom line.
whew. this was rough. shoko ieiri you will always be loved by me.

post-argument fic, reader's still mad at wriothesley, the yearning and desperation from wriothesley is heavy in this one lul, established relationship, suggestive comments
Tumblr media
brief biker!wriothesley thought.
disagreements don't happen often between you and wriothesley. you are both level-headed enough to maintain composure whilst talking through any issues, but in the scarce moments where it snowballs into something heated, it results in cold shoulders and uncomfortable silences born from residual anger.
wriothesley, who likes to be direct and to resolve things as they occur, lingers around you, hesitant to anger you more than he already has. he downright loathes how you walk on eggshells around him, unable to hold his gaze. in moments like these, he wants nothing more than just to pull you close and kiss you until you forgive him, bleeding apologies until you mend him with your forgiveness.
unfortunately for him, you had promised to go out for dinner with some of your mutual friends the night after your tense argument.
wriothesley's already there when you come straight from work, watching as you greet everyone with a big smile and wave, settling into the empty space next to him. all he gets is a tiny grin before your attention is swept away by furina, who sits directly in front of you.
he tries to act like it doesn't bug him when you turn to talk to clorinde, who sits on your left. tries to keep his desperation on the low when he asks for your attention, pointing to items on the menu that you'd like. tries to act like a kiss- a smile, even, isn't all he wants when he gives you the things you like from his plate.
if you don't look him in the eye for longer than five seconds, he might dissolve in his seat.
miraculously, wriothesley survives the torturous evening, and it's difficult to pretend like he isn't excited about going home and having you all to himself. he farewells everyone a little too enthusiastically, and drags you away with him before they can convince you to stay for drinks.
(though, if you wanted to, he would have complied and bitten back his complaints, but judging by the way you follow him without any reluctance, home was the right direction.)
since your shared car was dropped off for service, the only way of getting home was wriothesley's motorbike. he helps you on and you murmur a shy 'thank you' underneath your breath when he puts your helmet on for you, only getting on when you're safely secured and comfortable in your seat.
however, unlike usual when your arms would circle around his muscular torso tightly, your grip lingers awkwardly by his sides.
"doll, you need to hold on tight," he warns, starting the engine. you comply ever so slightly, ghosting your arms around him.
for wriothesley, who prioritises your safety more than anything else, it isn't good enough, so he gently pulls you forward, wrapping your arms around him himself. without another word, he drives off, catching you off guard. he hears a small yelp from behind him before your arms snake around him tightly.
wriothesley's sure he'll get a light scolding and a punch to the arm for scaring you like that, but as long as he gets to look you in the eye, he'll take whatever you throw at him.
bonus:
when you're back in the safety of your home, you lightly shove your helmet at his chest and begin scolding him for scaring you like that, but all he does is wolfishly smile at you.
"i warned you, gorgeous, that's what happens when you don't listen to me."
you huff, sliding off the leather seat, clutching your bag to your side, but wriothesley doesn't let you go far, pulling you back in to stand in between his legs.
"still mad at me?" his hands find purchase at your hips. you glance into his icy eyes before looking aside. "i'm sorry, i'll say it as many times as i need to. when are you gonna find it in your heart to forgive me?"
"when you apologise a thousand times."
he whistles. "a thousand? that's a lot."
"so get started."
"do you take other means of compensation?" his hands sneak under your shirt to rest on your waist and you immediately catch his wrists before he can go any further.
"are you even trying to apologise?"
he snickers. "i'm sorry."

Fighting with Jason
Yea i might never post after tonight but ...enjoy?
He gets injured all the time, and u prolly don't know how to deal with such big ass injuries . ur just worried about him but its doesn't always come out calmly. i mean If its 4 am, jason is bleeding out on the carpet and ur on ur period + got no sleep...u may frustrate cry. which then makes jason guilty so he just avoids coming to u injured till that makes u sadder. u may have to sit him down and explain "hey I prefer u coming to me when hurt, I just get worried not upset"
He will not believe you. I mean this dude is so traumatized so u saying ily or ur so pretty makes him blush but he will push it off. if u do something nice he'll be looking for alternative motives.U may have to keep repeating (+kisses) and it still may take ages
not always sensitive with his words, may say something insensitive but not like mean..just insensitive. rlly dark humour. gets really sad the moment u get sad and will bed for forgiveness. honestly feels worse than u do
so fricking jealous , sorry but guy frnds are prolly off the list also u must just very firmly push away any and all guys
fucks up big gestures, like he is planning to telling he loves u in a special way but ur sitting on the kitchen counter top eating the pancakes he just made , wearing his shirt and u look up....u cant blame him
needs a lot of emotional support and while its not a fight between u guys ever..its just there. like nightmares, crying, venting, issues, so many ticks and triggers. u just have to be really understanding
sucks at sharing u, gets clingy and is a bit of a stalker ( big time in the start of the relationship but it falls with time )
scared of having kids...or even pets.
(author's note- im lowkey lonely so comment whatever and give me dopa boost)

Y'know, there are a lot of people in my communities offline and online that... I'd cook for, help clean their house, help them move, share their fundraisers, give them rides to an appointment when I had access to a vehicle, donate to them if I could... who I also wouldn't willingly share casual spaces with, wouldn't tolerate their harmful behavior in a support group (though, if I were leading it, would issue repeat private verbal warnings before taking any action, and even divide into multiple sessions to still offer both the people they're hurting and them the support needed), and so on.
That's what I mean a lot of the times when saying "I won't allow unsafe people in my communities". It's not "I'll violently expel and ostracize (and encourage others to do so) those doing significant harm who are themselves marginalized". It's "I will take steps to reduce the harm being done while not doing further harm in doing so". It's "I recognize that identity does not make you inherently safe, so I focus on actual harm rather than who is doing it, and that also means I'm careful not to just end up displacing the harm by doing it myself".
Of course, I'm not perfect. If someone who is marginalized themself is openly reveling in and bragging about bullying and hurting others, and then turning around and claiming that objectively harmless behaviors from their victims are actually harming them, in essence playing the victim outside of situations where they actually are the victim... yeah, at a certain point I'll become reactive, especially if we are both marginalized on the axis of gender but they have power over me or others on another axis (race, intersex identity, disability, etc).
That's just abuser behavior, and as much as I try as much as possible to never be reactive, I also have grace for myself reacting imperfectly as a trauma and abuse survivor. Hell, this is why I DON'T want to be in a position of being the person in charge of these things that has the power to push people out on my own. I'd much rather have plenty of people to be able to de-escalate when someone HAS become reactive, while addressing the initial harmful behavior separately.
Idk this is just some ramblings on my personal philosophy but like. Community building does mean practicing harm reduction but that also means leaving space for people to mess up and do harm and struggle or even refuse to unlearn shit without being tossed out on their ass in the cold because, well, this is especially true given most of the time they don't have alternative spaces they CAN access when marginalized so it's kinda a case of "each other's all we've got".
And yes there's "don't tolerate intolerance" ofc but it's also "it's more effective to deradicalize someone and especially to do so in ways that are compassionate and understanding than to just isolate them and drive them further into hate" and also "sometimes the harm is directly tied to something like trauma or a disability in a way that can't immediately be changed and then it's on the community rather than the individual to find a solution that reduces the most harm possible without punishing someone for symptoms that they legitimately are struggling to or can't control".
Basically, there's ✨nuance!✨
And like this is all gonna be different too depending on the type of harm and what social dynamics are at play. You handle bigotry/oppression differently than you handle lateral aggression differently than you handle mixed cases (such as transintermisia from a perisex trans person) differently than you handle any other number of cases of harm.
Idk I just care more about being effective than being right. And I know I revert into injured animal snarling a lot on here but tbf I'm also NOT actively engaging in community building or w/e on my 250 follower blog with max 20 followers active at any given time. I do also think it's important to have injured animals spaces too and maybe this isn't the best one but rn it works okay as mine.
So... yeah. Complicated thoughts on a complicated subject.

Prewar!Cooper Howard has a breeding kink because he loves being a dad. He and Barb married and started trying for kids later in life than most folks around them, so much of the sex they had, especially early on, was focused on getting Barb pregnant. If he'd had his way, they would have had a whole litter of children, but hey, sometimes life doesn't work out the way you want. Still, there's the fun of trying, and there was a lot of trying. After the divorce, he's shocked when he meets someone else, and even more shocked when he feels those same urges with you. He's been trained to try and knock one in basically every time, he jokes.
At least, that's what he tells himself.
He's also incredibly possessive, and it drives him wild to think about getting to see you all swollen and filled out with his child. Particularly with you being younger that him; the ugly part of his brain is barking at him to stake a more permanent claim on you every time a guy your age so much as looks your way. Personally, he thinks he's too old to have more kids, but between his secret urges, your forgetfulness when it comes to your pill, and your twin high sex drives, well...sometimes accidents happen.
He'd be over the moon, once he knew you were happy as well (he would also worry about the news potentially being hurtful to Barb, but that'd be an issue for tomorrow). Showing you off in public, knowing that other people see how gorgeous you are and know you fully belong to him, it really gets him going, and you certainly take notice of how amorous he is when you're out together (combined with how vigorously he fucks you when you get home). Thinks you're insanely sexy pregnant and likes to watch you ride him with a big belly. You'd both better be a lot more careful about your contraception after the first baby if you don't want another, because getting to see you that way only makes his kink worse.
The Ghoul has a breeding kink because he's incredibly possessive. It's been literal centuries since he's come across anything in this world that he cares for enough to want to claim it, and you're officially claimed. He wants everyone, including you, to know that you belong to him and only him. Other ghouls can smell him on you much more strongly if he cums inside you, and he enjoys the way filling you full scratches his most primal itch. It's just an added benefit that he's almost positive he can't actually get you pregnant, but...there are records of ghouls reproducing with other ghouls. Haven't stranger things happened?
The little thrill he gets at the idea is just nature trying to take over.
At least, that's what he tells himself.
You'd be hard-up to get him to admit it, but he wants you to need him. He wants an excuse to baby you and pamper you and force you to let him do things for you without the vulnerability of admitting that he wants to do those things for you anyway because he's deeply in love with you.
You complain that your feet hurt during your journey for the day? He'll carry you everywhere you want to go from now until the end of time, if that's what you want. Stomach and appetite troubles? Name whatever you want, he'll find it for you, no matter how many caps he has to pay. Tired? "Of course you're tired, sweetheart. Let's stop for today. Here, sit down. Do you need some water? Eat this, you need some calories. Let me rub your legs and feet for you." It is endless and sort of surreal for you to adjust to.
Speaking of journeys, I think he also secretly wants to settle down a bit. He does already after he meets and falls for you, seeing how much the constant trekking back and forth across the irradiated desert takes out of you, and he definitely would want to do so expeditiously if you were pregnant. It's not like secure places don't exist in this world. He can keep you, and anyone else who may come along, safe just fine.
He'd be afraid to fuck you if you were pregnant, worried that he'll hurt you or make you sick or make something bad happen with the pregnancy. But if you reassure him, maybe beg a little, he'll do his best to make sure your urges are satisfied. Sit on his face and let him slide his tongue through your insanely sensitive folds, lie back and let him fuck you with those agile fingers while he jerks himself off. You'll miss being properly penetrated, badly, but you won't go without.
He wants an excuse to be even more protective of you than usual. Give him a reason to literally pluck men's eyes out for daring to so much as look at you, a reason to never let you out of his sight ever again. If you thought he was ready to commit violence to keep you safe before, you haven't seen anything yet.
I can't imagine it would be easy to have a big family in the Wasteland, but reminding him how much he loves being a dad would certainly have the thought on his mind.

and i might have had it wrong
7x09 coda
“Mom?” Christopher asks, and Eddie’s entire world falls apart.
It was never supposed to come to this. Which, in hindsight, feels about as likely as letting go of a balloon against the bright blue sky and hoping it wouldn’t come to losing the balloon, but he was too deep in it from the moment he first saw Kim to keep any kind of handle on how events unfolded.
“Oh, honey,” Kim says, and Eddie’s heartbeat stutters at the term of endearment, so familiar in Kim’s not-quite-Shannon voice. He swipes at the tears still running down his face. “I’m not—“
“Not a dead woman?” Marisol interrupts. “We can see that. So who are you, exactly?” There’s a certain steel to her tone, like she’s put more of the situation together than Kim has.
Then Eddie watches Kim’s face as she realises, too.
“I’m—” Kim starts.
“—Kim,” Eddie fills in before she can get any further, because there really isn’t a good answer she could give.
“Kim,” Marisol repeats. Eddie squirms under a glare she must have learned at nun school. “I’m Marisol. Eddie’s girlfriend.”
“Yeah, I kind of got that,” Kim mutters.
“Why do you look like my mom?” Christopher asks, and all three adults in the room turn to look at him.
“I think the bigger question is why are you in Eddie’s house looking like—” Marisol waves her hand in the kind of gesture that’s meant to encompass everything about Kim.
Eddie ignores her and crosses the few steps between him and Christopher. His first instinct is to crouch in front of him, but Christopher is too tall for that now.
“We’ll talk about this later, I promise,” he says. even as he has no idea what he could ever say to explain any of this. He doesn’t know how to even start to put back together the thing he’d seen shatter when Christopher stepped inside. “Can you give us a minute?”
Christopher sets his jaw, like he’s going to complain about being treated like a kid, but he looks between Marisol and Kim and finally nods. He goes into his room and closes the door, and Eddie wishes he could escape, too, close the door and put his headphones on and wait for someone else to resolve the issue.
But there is no someone else. There is only him, and the two women whose happiness he sacrificed at the altar of a third.
“So,” Kim says. “Seems like there’s something else you should have told me when you were coming clean the other night.”
“You told her?” Marisol asks. “She knew about Shannon?” She squints. “Is this a sex thing?”
“I—no,” Eddie says, blinking. “It’s nothing like that. It’s not what it—”
“Not what it looks like?” Marisol asks, and huffs a humourless laugh. “So you didn’t cheat on me?”
“You should have told me I was the other woman, Eddie,” Kim says. “It would have given a whole lot more perspective to this whole… whatever.” She looks between him and Marisol. “Look, I hope it helped you, I really do. But I’m out. This is not about me.”
The door closes behind her, and Eddie looks at Marisol. “I didn’t—“ he says, unable to bring himself to say the words I didn’t cheat because he doesn’t quite believe them himself. “I never even kissed her.”
Marisol’s jaw works, and it looks like she takes a deep breath before answering. “I don’t think that matters,” she says. “That isn’t the point.”
“I know,” Eddie says, soft. “And I’m sor—”
His phone rings. He pulls it out and sends it to voicemail, but Buck’s name flashes on the screen again and again.
“I’ve got to—” he says, weakly, and Marisol raises her eyebrows but doesn’t say anything.
“Buck, it’s not a good—” he starts, voice tight, but Buck isn’t listening.
“It’s Bobby,” Buck says, and just like that, everything else goes quiet.
“What do you mean, it’s Bobby?” Eddie asks.
“There was a fire. It’s—he’s alive, but it’s bad. Eddie, it’s really bad.”
“I’m on my way,” Eddie says. Marisol makes an incredulous face, but Eddie ignores her, looking around the living room to find his wallet and keys. “I’ll meet you guys at the hospital.”
“You’re really leaving?” Marisol asks when he hangs up the phone. “Right now? We’re kind of in the middle of something.”
“It’s Bobby,” Eddie says, as if that explains everything.
Because it does. And part of him, somewhere in the back of his mind, says that if Marisol really understood him, she’d understand that, too.
“Is ten minutes going to make that much of a difference?” she asks instead.
“Ten minutes? That’s all it was going to take?” Eddie asks, then knocks on Christopher’s door. “Chris, come on, I’m taking you to Pepa’s. I’ll explain later. Let’s go.”
Marisol crosses her arms. “You know what? This will take ten seconds. If you leave now, I won’t be here when you come back.”
And for a split second, Eddie wants to say something. Wants to plead for a second chance, wants to fight for whatever this thing between them is. What it could be. But Marisol looks at him, then, and her expression crystallises somewhere beneath his sternum.
“Okay.”

The Problematic Romanizations of the Kitchen Scene
I've slept on making this post not one, but two nights. I'm still not sure if this is the best idea because I'm sure it'll ruffle some feathers. I really try to stay neutral when talking about shipping and I do feel like I still am. There is a lot of heat going on between people who ship Buddie and people who ship BuckTommy. While I like both of them, I obviously have a favorite and some people may think that bias is where I'm coming from. But I promise you, it's not.
These past few days it's making me very, very uncomfortable how some shippers are romanticizing the Buck and Eddie kitchen scene from Thursday night's episode.
Ryan has spoken a lot this season about how he finds it incredibly important that the relationship and vulnerability we see between Buck and Eddie is viewed as platonic. That treating their scenes together like there are romantic or sexual feelings between them could be damaging to the message they're trying to send. That he wants people to see that man can be vulnerable with each other without it meaning something more.
Obviously he started out talking about that coming out scene but in those interviews last week? I think he was also very clearly talking about the kitchen scene. That we saw Buck being there for Eddie and Eddie being able to be vulnerable and more open about what was happening when pushed by Buddie. That the conversation was something that needed to happen.
So seeing people immediately romanticize it goes against everything Ryan has been talking about for weeks. And I get it, ship what you want to ship. I like Buddie too. But seeing people making jokes about how Buck came in Eddie's back door or saying this clearly shows they have romantic feelings for each other? Less than a week after he took the conversation a step further, explained it was personal to him and how he had made an attempt on his own life?
It really, really bothers me. You've been explicitly told by the actors involved (and Tim) that isn't what is happening right now. There are so many other scenes you could talk about and romanticize. Maybe leave this one, that holds such personal meaning to Ryan, out of the shipping debate.
Buck, Eddie, Tommy are all fictional.
Ryan is a real person who has dealt with mental health issues.
We need to remember that.

AITA for calling someone a homophobe in a queer club meeting?
This was a few years ago back in college and I still wonder if I handled this correctly.
Bit of backstory, I (now 20s gay man) had a lot of internal and external homophobia growing up, realized I was gay at a young age and tried to convince myself at “worst” I was bi and could just ignore the gay part of me, obviously didn’t work and lots of bad times followed. Eventually started working through my issue, accepted myself and came out as gay in college.
Now for the issue that occurred between me another club member who I’ll call Z (20 F). I was in my 2nd year of college and I joined the queer club on campus. It was a get together to talk about anything queer community related every other week. One meeting someone brought up the Kinsey scale and I said something about how it’s a good intro to the idea of sexuality being complex but has obvious issues. Z interjected something about a major issue being that exclusive sexualities don’t exist and everyone is some degree of bi/pan.
Well that kind of idea is a huge trigger for me and I could feel a panic attack coming on (looking back probably should’ve just left) but I stayed and told Z that was not what I meant and that I find that kind of idea invalidating and is no different from saying I’m not gay I just haven’t found the right woman. Z said she agreed with that statement and I was being ridiculous if I thought out of all the people in the world there wasn’t at least one woman who was right for me.
At that I snapped “oh so you’re just a fucking homophobe” and then the panic attack hit me and I got up and left the room as fast as I could. One of my friends ran out with me and I eventually calmed down and explained and asked them to go back and tell the club I went home.
My friend came by later and said they understood where I was coming from but that I really upset Z and that most of the club thought I went too far and could only come back if I apologized to Z. I refused and never went back. My friends thought I was in the right but the club didn’t and years later I still have conflicting feelings about it.

What Do the guys do if they learn their crush has some incredibly minor beef with them? Like they know him as "that guy who somehow always buys up all the good snacks at lunch" or "that guy who took the last limited edition X i waited an hour and a half in line for" or "that guy who's always hogging the Y"
I went with the snack one but here's how I think they would all react to you only knowing them as the guy who always buys the last of your favourite snack!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mikey- Stares at you thoughtfully after finding this out, before holding out a half eaten taiyaki for you to take. (It's his way of trying to make it up to you). Frowns if you don't take it and figures he needs to do something else instead.
Takemichi- He's having a mini breakdown with this info, can't believe he never noticed he was doing this to you. His face flashes through the five stages of grief before giving you a very nervous smile and saying he'll make it up to you.
Draken- "huh?" He's mainly confused as to why you know him as that and not by his reputation. Decides to cut you a break though by not taking the thing you want in the future.
Baji- Is confused for a second but then frowns. He didn't mean to do that so why do you only see him that guy? Doesn't say anything about it to you but the next day you find the snack he took from you waiting for you.
Chifuyu- He immediately makes a plan to buy the snack again but this time break it in half and share it with you. Thinks this will be romantic and get the two of you talking. But on the day his hands are shaking so badly that he just quickly gives you the whole thing and hurries off.
Mitsuya- Frowns at you, feeling bad for always taking the snack you wanted. Goes very overboard in making it up to you though by inviting you round to his house for dinner.
Hakkai- Says absolutely nothing and doesn't even look at you but you find a whole pile of those snacks waiting for you later that day (rich kid privileges)
Pah- Feels guilty and goes out of his way to bring you snack each day as a way of making it up to you, always with a blush on his face.
Peh- "HAH!?" Freaks out a bit because he's so surprised.
Smiley- "I'm gonna kill that store for not stocking enough snacks" He ends up not buying them for awhile but he still goes to the store to kinda watch out for them??? Like if sees any other guys picking them up instead, he'll slap them out of their hands or threaten them.
Angry- Straight up apologises to you and offers to buy you some of the snack to make it up to you.
Mucho- He's pretty confused as to why you would be upset over just some snacks. Assumes you may not be aware of better places to go and thinks about inviting you to go with him to a cafe.
Sanzu- Smiles, his plan is working perfectly. Of course he already knows these are your favourites and by taking them he's made you notice him. Bad attention is still better then no attention.
Kisaki- Starts scheming away on how he can use this info. Probably pretends to not know you even like them and then offer you some as a way to get to know you more.
Hanma- Laughs, this is very funny to him. Will tease you about it, then offer to share with you but there's a catch. If he shares then you'll "owe him". You're not sure if it's a good idea to accept or not.
Kazutora- Frowns a lot and wonders what he should do. Ends up switching snacks so you can always have the one you want but never mentions it to you.
Inui- Shrugs at this information, it doesn't mean that much to him since it doesn't really change anything. He hasn't tried to make a move on you yet and this problem is small enough that it probably won't be an issue when he eventually does try with you.
Koko- Definitely panics, this is not how a good potential boyfriend is supposed to be treating you!!!! Buys you lots of little things in return, including snacks. He wants to spoil you not take from you!
Taiju- Oh he's definitely interested now, interested in what you're going to do about it. Continues buying the snack, hoping that you'll confront him over it. If you do eventually then he's willing to give you some, he's just interested in your response to this whole thing.
Izana- Thinks this is perfect, it gives the two of you a common like which he definitely plans on using to his advantage.
Kakucho- Looks horrified, this is not the impression he wanted to make with you. Comes up to you one day with a casual "hey" (he's freaking out inside) and asks if you want his snack.
Ran- Beckons you over with a sly grin, telling you to "come get your snack". You know straight away that he's referring to himself and teasing you.
Rindou- "what the hell?" After everything he's done this is the thing you know him for??? He's at least glad it's an easy enough fix, he just stops buying that snack so that you can enjoy it instead. Decides he'll have to do something else to capture your attention though.
Shion- He's nearly offended by this, can't believe this is how you remember him! Starts trying to name drop other things he's done in front of you.
Mochi- Just shrugs and passes the snack to you, it's not that deep to him.
South- Offers to arm wrestle you for the snack (he's actually both intrigued about your strength and wants an excuse to hold your hand, so uses the snack as the perfect facade).
Wakasa- Looks around for a minute trying to figure out if this is some kind of joke. When he realises it's not, he approaches you and says you could've just asked. Splits the snack in half with you.
Shinichiro- He's on the verge of banning his head against the wall, just can't believe he would overlook something so obvious. Of course buys the snack for you and hands it over as a new way of flirting with you.
Benkei- Is a bit embarrassed about not noticing sooner but decides to make up for it by buying the snacks for you.

in regards to skin tone variation in DM, i do think a lot of it is colorism/racism too. theres a few characters of color, but not many (just like how theres some fatter characters, but none of them are main characters (even senshi & other dwarves arent really depicted as fat)).
ryoko kui has surface representation for these people, but it lacks much substance, and the brown characters she does draw arent given brown facial features, and are almost always colored with very ashy skin. a lot of them just look like a recolored white person (especially cithis, kaka, & kiki). her random portraits of characters who dont actually appear in the series otherwise tend to be much better about this, but the actual characters that show up and play a part all seem to suffer from this issue.
im not saying kui is like, super-duper racist and we all need to stop reading DM etc etc, but i think its important to recognize and point out everyday/usually-overlooked colorism & racism when we see it, and i know im not the first or only person to point this out about her character designs. if she can draw fat people and actual brown people as part of the portraits, why cant she or wont she do the same for any of the featured characters in the series?
(i know the orcs are fat, but its not a good thing the only consistently fat people are the ones who are a fantasy race based off of violent racial stereotypes, who are also pig people, while none of the main cast of "real" humans are fat except *maybe* the dwarves, who still have small waists and flat stomachs, and the lord of the island, who is depicted as corrupt & decadent)
Well yeah.
I'm just a lore blog so I don't like to get too into real life issues or make assumptions about how the author feels about these subjects. What I talked about on the skin tone post was assumptions as to why she thought it would be important to show skin tone variations on certain races as a character design choice. (In the sense that her character design is very purposeful)
I realize some people over praise Kui's designs when most of it is pretty safe for what it is, but even if it's just a step closer to better representation it's something that's rare to see in anime. So I understand why some people get so excited about it.
It is important to realize this isn't the ideal either (Dark skinned characters with the same features as the others, mostly well build characters on the thinner side) but I personally don't like to criticize these type of stories on what it "could/should have been".
As someone who is fat and not white, I'm happy we get some diversity in dungeon meshi. I hope this opens up the possibility of better character design in the future even if what we got now wasn't perfect.
It shouldn't be the case that this piece of art filled me with so much joy I teared up cause I had never seen someone with a similar body to mine drawn with so much respect and objectivity. But unfortunately that's the world we live in and I don't think it's wrong to be happy for what we get for now while acknowledging it's not perfect and that it should be better.
Tumblr media
I'm also super happy the anime chose to make the dark characters even darker.

Bradley was a total loser in high school but in the way that he was still liked by everyone. He was all over the place, playing baseball, doing theater (mostly musicals...), and keeping up with all the 'nerds' in his year in maths and physics, a mathlete, all to make himself a good candidate for the USNA. He'd also go to youth military camps during summer and worked a part-time job since he was a sophomore.
Everyone at school knew of him, but he was so closed off that he was a mystery to many, which in turn made him have close to zero friends, but people liked him and he was never bullied. This was partially due to being too busy to have friends, partially due to him being afraid to bring friends home (because of Mav and Ice's secret relations...) and partially because Bradley had a hard time making friends in general — he's been moving around a lot as a kid and often had to swap schools mid-semester but also had more trauma and issues than your average kid.
And a lot of the kids who did try to befriend him were intimidated —Bradley was a chill, friendly, and nice guy on the surface, very talented as well, seemed not to care about other people's opinions and just did his thing, but then the minute you learned more about him, he was intense. He had his whole life planned already in a way most teenagers do not — chose his college, chose the job he wants, has been preparing for it for years already. Military camps, pilot licence, science on a level suitable for aerospace engineering, multiple side hobbies, all successful, deep knowledge of the military and political scene, all before he even finished high school. To the kids who learned more about him he was cool, but in the 'he seems like a future legend' way, almost too picture-perfect. It was very isolating for Bradley but also something he carried into adulthood out of haplessness — he can be the heart of the crowd, but he's never close with anyone, opposite of an open book, always trying to do his own thing while trying to not care about what others think (this has also been exaggerated by what Mav did to his USNA application...)
Jake was from the popular crowd but a lot of people only pretended to like him. He was the football star and had pretty good grades, took part in the debate club and also volunteered with their church — in their small town, he was the perfect golden child. Every parent wanted their kid to be like him. A lot of people only befriended him because they thought being friends with him would also put them on the same pedestal and were pretty fake, disliking him behind his back.
On the inside though, he was just the local farmers' boy who always gave all of himself to others, no matter what it was. His humility was genuine at the beginning but when everyone questioned him and called it fake, he started to have an attitude just to appease everyone's expectations and not be eaten alive. He didn't know what he wanted to do with his life but he tried to give his best whatever he wasn't doing — so a lot of the things he did were what he felt was expected of him. He's tall and athletic, their football team is good — he should join. His dad never finished high school and wanted his kids to have a good education — so he tried his best to make him proud. His mama ran the local book club and helped the church and their pastor almost every day — he should show that he inherited some of her leadership and good, god-lead heart. It even went to a point where he knew he wasn't interested in girls at all, but felt like he had to try because that's what teenage popular boys do — they date, they hook up, they have crushes.
Choosing to go USNA and deciding he wanted to be an aviator was the first thing he did for himself (after letting himself develop a fascination with flying and planes first) and so many people were disappointed with him — so many people said he was wasting his potential, a career in varsity football, any other potentially well-paying, respected jobs he could get if he went to a good college and not joined the military. Every single adult discouraged him from it, telling him how he's not going to do well and how he had more options than almost all of the kids in their town. Even his own parents were, well not unsupportive but also not very supportive. His dad who had been drafted, openly discouraged him from joining the military and often said he should not waste all his hard work.
(The above was brought to you by a fic idea: Bradley didn't go to his high school reunion but when Jake gets an invite for his, he feels like he needs to go to prove something to himself - that all the people who said he's wasting his potential and who pretended to like him to be in the right social circles were wrong and that he's happy and satisfied with his life.
He and Bradley are together at the time and he decides to take him as his plus one. This proves to be another challenge — taking his boyfriend to his small, kinda homophobic town, and trying to fight off the reality and judgment from all the people he's always wanted to please and prove something to.
Especially since Bradley doesn't completely understand why Jake wants to do it — he can see how badly it's affecting him and he just doesn't get the point of doing something or interacting with people who make Jake feel shitty about himself. He's conflicted between being supportive and calling Jake out on how self-destructive and pointless the whole reunion is for him.
Also: Jake's parents and Jake's ex-girlfriends. Disaster waiting to happen.)

The dumb anti BKDK/DKBK arguments:
I've seen a lot of people kinda making fun of bkdk/dkbk antis' takes on their dynamic/relationship. But,I think there's also an underlining issue with the mischaracterization of the story, characters, and Hori as a writer himself.
Katsuki/bullying
One of the biggest arguments used against bkdk/dkbk is this one panel.
Tumblr media
Which, this scene isn't as deep as people want to believe it is. Well,it IS,but just not on Katsuki's end (I'll elaborate on this in the Izuku section). This scene isn't about Katsuki being an awful person,it's about what Izuku endures as a quirkless person. Don't get me wrong: Katsuki was an absolute asshole in this. But,he's also a fourteen year old egotistical brat. His age obviously doesn't cover for what he's done, but it doesn't make him an evil monster who wishes to abuse and victimize Izuku whenever he possibly can. That's just not true.
(Important side note: it says several times that this is the furthest Katsuki has ever gone with his bullying with Izuku. His friends even comment on Katsuki going too far. So I really don't get why the antis try to claim this is consist behaviour for Katsuki, when it clearly isn't. This doesn't make what he did OKAY though, that's not what I'm saying at all. This scene just gets blown out of proportion most of the time)
Also, let's not forget about the hypocrisy this scene brings. Many antis will say that bkdk/dkbk can't be romantic and it's toxic because Katsuki told Izuku to "kys",but here's the thing; they're the same people who argue they're strictly platonic. It makes no sense. If this relationship was actually as toxic and abusive as they say it is,then they couldn't be friends. Antis use this scene for disproving the romantic interpretation of the two,but then completely ignore it when it's not relevant to their narrative.
Now,Katsuki's ignored development! I've seem a couple antis claim that Katsuki's apology scene was a self pity speech and it was all about him. Which is...SO FUCKING WRONG? I can understand if you've read the first lines of the apology and thought, "Oh,he's just thinking about himself," if you were just really dense and had no context of the earlier events leading up to this apology and stopped reading after a page that is. It's probably one of the most stupid takes I've seen on Katsuki and Hori's writing.
Tumblr media
In these panels Katsuki is talking about his feelings, yes. And this is important! Izuku deserves an explanation to Katsuki's bullying,Izuku deserves to hear how Katsuki actually feels. But,right after,he turns it around to talk about Izuku. This sequence of events is extremely important to what Katsuki (Hori) is trying to convey. The truth. I know a people wanted this to be about Izuku being a helpless victim, but that just isn't true to either of their characters, especially Izuku's. And these words are backed up by actions. Over. And over again. Katsuki said he was going to be there for Izuku?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Note: I'm aware a couple of this manga panels aren't the official translations! And that's because the official translations are very DIFFERENT from what Katsuki is actually saying in those scenes)
He's there. And that's kinda something I feel people forget when thinking of Katsuki's apology. He's already been reconnecting and making it up to Izuku.
Tumblr media
Katsuki has gone through so much development over the course of mha,and it's astonishing that people still use the first page of this manga to view Katsuki and the whole story. Of course Katsuki is going to feel incompleted and lazily written when all you focus on is the very first chapter of the manga. Foreshadowing and growth exist, let's not forget that.
Izuku the victim
This is something that definitely annoys me when I see people hating on bkdk/dkbk. Most of the time the antis hate Katsuki so much that they victimize Izuku as much as they possibly fucking can.
Was Izuku bullied? Yes! Was he mistreated? Yes!
But that doesn't make him a helpless victim who doesn't see himself as anything. Izuku does have a sense of self worth. That's just the truth. It always pisses me off when people bring up the "take a swine dive off the roof of the building," line and say if Izuku didn't get OFA he would had committed suicide. Honestly,I think when Izuku starts devaluating himself is when he receives OFA.
For example, when Katsuki backs Izuku into a wall telling him he can't get into U.A,
Tumblr media
Izuku says "there's no harm in trying",Izuku thinks he can get into U.A,even without a quirk. He believes, deep down,he can be a quirkless hero. Until he's told otherwise from All Might, then doesn't believe in himself even more when he has OFA.
(In the anime,or just the dub,Izuku says something along the lines of, "they changed that rule!" To Katsuki when we says he can't get into U.A without a quirk, which further proves this point)
And about the, "take a swine dive off the roof" page, this doesn't effect Izuku as much as people say it did. Even in the moment. Izuku wasn't distraught,Izuku didn't go into a deep depression over it,he was pissed.
Tumblr media
That is a look of anger. Now,why was Izuku angry? Because he didn't believe this. He knew what Katsuki was saying was just BS. In this scene he calls Katsuki an idiot, then he thinks about his mom. This scene was deep, because it was about Izuku's trauma with his mother and discovering when he was quirkless. This scene was,as I've said,to show what Izuku endures as a qurikless kid and to segway into his backstory.
As for Izuku's self worth,we also see through these pages of him being upset with his mother,he still has hope he can be a hero. He still wishes to become a hero, still acknowledging that he's quirkless,he still believes he can be.
Tumblr media
because he doesn't let people hold him back. Because he's stubborn as fuck (a character trait people often forget Izuku has). So I really don't get why people try to paint Izuku as this kid who leaves his self Image in the hands of others,he knows he's not useless.
Tumblr media
And when I say Izuku devaluates himself,I don't mean Izuku sees himself as useless. Izuku sees himself as a vessel for OFA from that point on and takes the responsiblity/burden of it. He dehumanized himself because of OFA,not because of the bullying he faced.
(I'm not saying this didn't hurt Izuku in anyway! It did. But I feel Izuku wasn't as effected by it as people think he is,it wasn't something Izuku saw as worth it. He knew what he wanted to be at the end of the day,and stuck the finger to everyone else.)
I hate it when people say Izuku is a basic character, then don't actually know the first thing about him.
Can't be cannon because it's shonen
This argument I can get! But,there are a couple of reasons this is still a dumb argument.
First of all,we're usually talking about shipping. So this doesn't necessarily apply to fan work, which they do for some odd reason.
Second of all,MHA is pretty lgbtq+ positive. With Toga being bi/pan,and they're being several trans characters, and let's not forget about characters like Mineta who is pretty heavily hinted to be bisexual.
And I feel Horikoshi is using the romantic shonen formula, just not in the way they thought he would...
Katsuki is very love interest coded.
With Katsuki being the one the villains (not just villains, people in general) go after to or to get a rise out of Izuku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And,another important thing to mention when talking about shonen is Horikoshi as a writer himself.
Tumblr media
Horikoshi is doing this for himself. He wants to enjoy what he's writing. So,if bkdk/dkbk becomes cannon? It wasn't fan pressure. He wanted to do it. If it doesn't? Same thing. And,from what I've observed,Hori REALLY likes Katsuki and Izuku.
I mean,he's done so much with these two,so many unnecessary moments,for...what? We have to remember bkdk/dkbk was seen as toxic from the fast majority of the fanbase when people starting shipping them. But,what did Hori do? He kept putting in these moments. Kept foreshadowing something...more. And in the process put down many popular ships at the time. Like,Kribaku (NOT HATING) it was seen as the healthy, fun relationship Katsuki could be in romantically. Horikoshi used this to deepen the bond between bkdk/dkbk. (And to probably to add some gay yearning angst)
Tumblr media
and let's not forget all the unnecessary sketches he made between the two,and some of his comments on them,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(From the ultra analysis character book)
From the looks of it,Hori just enjoys these two together. Especially considering some of the new drawings/sketches he's made.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day it doesn't matter if it's shonen or not. Horikoshi is going to do what he enjoys. And I hope he continues to do so! If mha's end doesn't result with cannon bkdk/dkbk? I couldn't care less if Horikoshi is pleased with the ending,as much as I see the cannon potential.

a/n: you would not believe the week I had to drag myself thru before writing this lmao
Tumblr media
Tim is spinning around in the chair used for the Batcomputer when you come into the Cave, pulling your mask off and tossing it somewhere as Batman, himself, follows after you. He doesn't remove his cowl, content to fight with you while he keeps himself masked - hidden away. Tim can't find it in him to be surprised.
"You can't do that," you say to Batman, pointing a finger to his chest. "You can't just chase after me all night and step in to save me every time you think something might be going wrong." Tim stops spinning as he stares at the two of you, at Batman towering over you. You're good at pretending you're not afraid, he's realized. But no one's quite good enough when they're up against the Dark Knight.
"You don't tell me what I can and can't do," is Batman's only response.
"This is my life, Bruce. My job. Not yours. You don't get to take this from me," you push back. He crosses his arms over his chest and Tim shifts in his seat.
"I'm not taking anything from you," Batman responds, and his voice is enough that you shift your weight on your feet, like you're trying to stop yourself from taking a step back, away from him. "This is my city. You are my responsibility. If you go out there and act recklessly, you'll be taking this from yourself. Do you understand that?" There's a part of Tim that feels he should leave, Batman's raising voice thundering through the Cave. This isn't really a conversation he wants to witness - it isn't a struggle he feels he should be part of. But mostly, he thinks that moving will get him caught, and he can't help but feel a bit like a rabbit caught in a snare that wasn't meant for him. Tim pulls at the fabric of his pants, rubbing a hand over the Robin insignia on his chest, and feels sort of like he's someone he shouldn't be.
"I don't need a keeper," you bite back. "I need you to let me do my job - I need you to let me take care of myself."
"Then why are you here?" This time, you do take a step back, letting his words cut you. "Why are you part of this family, then?"
"Am I, Bruce? Am I really?" This time, Tim does let himself slouch down in the chair a bit, your own yells bouncing around the Cave. "Is that what you call a family? A bunch of strays you pick up off the streets because it makes you feel like a hero?"
"You need to stop," Batman presses, his voice loud enough to drown out yours, reaching forward to put his hands on your shoulders. "You need to let me -"
"I don't need to -"
"You need to let me take care of you, Jason -"
That, of course, is enough to make everyone freeze, your eyes wide as you and Tim both stare at Batman's heaving shoulders and the tight grip he has on you. You're sure his knuckles are turning white with the way he's holding onto your shoulders, but you make no move to stop him.
"I'm not… Jason, Bruce. He's… gone," you say gently, and something about it rips Bruce out of whatever state he was in, his hands pulling away from you as he takes a lurching step back.
"Bruce -" you start, but he's already fleeing, his cape covering him as he turns and, before you or Tim can say anything, he's disappeared out of the Cave and back towards the streets of Gotham.
"I almost feel bad for the criminals he'll find tonight," Tim says - a desperate attempt to break the silence. You wince as you consider it, but shoot Tim a small smile, nonetheless, as you walk over to him. Sitting up on the desk next to the computer, you let your legs swing back and forth as you watch him, his hand absentmindedly rubbing over the Robin insignia painting his chest as he stares at where Bruce had just been.
"It's not your fault, Tim," you say quietly. He looks at you like you've just shot him.
"I didn't say it was," he splutters. You nod.
"I know. But… it's still nice to hear, sometimes, isn't it?" You ask. Tim pauses his hand's movement, bringing it away from his chest to grip onto the chair arm, instead.
"It's not… it's not your fault, either," he points out, and the chair arm creaks under the weight of his grip. "It's not your fault."
For his sake, you pretend to believe him. You hope you're a better liar than he is, just this once.
It's days before you see Batman again, the two of you flickering by each other like shadows, indistinguishable from the backgrounds of the dark corners you belong in. You're sure he's still around, sure he's still tracking you and making sure you stay in line. You're also sure you still don't like it.
You wonder if he's watching you the night you stumble into Red Hood, the cases you're working on tangling your paths together as you stare at him across the docks. His gun is in his hand, and you wonder, a bit abruptly, if he'll shoot you when you get in his way.
"Thought the Bowery was your corner, Hood," you say cautiously, eyeing him under your mask. The moonlight above you ripples down between the clouds, casting shards of light onto your hidden faces. "You're a long way from home."
"Could say the same about you," he spits, his hand tightening on his gun. You shift your weight, bracing yourself for whatever fight this might turn into. "You're a bird flying too far from the nest."
"It's not my nest," you say back too quickly, and you wince internally at how directly his snub hurt you. "I'm not a Robin - as you can see through that helmet, I hope. These docks have known me longer than Batman has."
"Yea, but he owns you now, doesn't he?" Red Hood drawls, trying to push you - trying to bait you. You grit your teeth together.
"And he doesn't own you?" You quip back. "You really think you're free of him?" He huffs at that, spinning his gun in his hand as he leans back on his heels.
"Yea, go on," he snaps. "Keep talking. See where that smart mouth gets you around here." "Are you threatening me?" You push. He slides his gun into his holster.
"I don't think I need to," he shrugs. "It'll catch up to you without my help." You sigh, ever so slightly, letting yourself relax a bit, letting the possibility of a fight cool from your mind. Red Hood pauses, the white eyes of his helmet staring through you. There's a drop to his shoulders, a heaviness to him that makes you wish you could see his face. You wonder if he would ever really shoot you - and then you feel a bit nauseous for ever thinking he would.
"I'm just saying," you push on, suddenly wishing you knew how to make peace - wishing your hands knew how to extend an olive branch. "The past doesn't die just because you bury it, Hood. Either dig it up, yourself, or it'll climb out of that grave on its own."
"Excuse me?" He bites back. You hold your hands up in surrender, already stepping back as you begin to let yourself disappear into the shadows behind you.
"Hey, it's up to you," you say. "But… you know. Start running now, you'll never stop, right?"
Red Hood stands on that dock for longer than he cares to, after that - after you leave, disappearing in a way that feels an awful lot like running away. His ears ring as your words play over in his head, as he thinks of the boy who died and the thing that came back in his place. He wonders if you take your own advice, ever, then scoffs, kicking at a rock as he turns to leave.
It's not running away, he tells himself. The boy I was is dead and the thing I am now might as well be.
You do go home that night - eventually, creeping back into the Cave. You're not sure if you expected Bruce to be sitting there, cowl resting by the desk as he stares at the Batcomputer. You're not sure if you're really surprised that he's tracking you up on the screen, having been following your movements all night.
"You need to loosen your grip, Bruce," you say firmly standing behind him. He doesn't turn in his chair to face you.
"I won't have another one of you die because of me. I won't fail you like that." His words make you sigh as you reach a hand up to rub the back of your neck.
"You won't have the chance to fail us if you keep pushing us away," you point out. This time, Bruce does turn in the chair, looking up at you where you're now standing in front of him.
"I met Jason tonight," you say honestly, your eyes searching him for any kind of reaction.
"I know," is Bruce's response, though. You roll your eyes.
"Does anything happen in this city without you knowing?"
"No, that's the point," he says. It's as close as he gets to joking and you recognize it for what it is and what it isn't. An outstretched hand, but not an apology. A plead for peace, but nothing more.
"If you want to talk about failing your Robins, maybe pay some attention to Tim," you point out. He stiffens.
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm just saying," you rock back on your heels, glancing over at where Jason's Robin uniform is encased in glass, a constant memory of the one Batman couldn't save. "You wouldn't want him to, ah, fall through the crack, so to speak. Slip through your fingers - you know what I mean."
Bruce stares at you hard after that, his arms crossed. You hold your hands up in surrender and wonder if he knows how much of himself is in Jason's demeanour, in his life, still.
"I'm not going back out there tonight, so," you gesture to the Batcomputer as you walk away, "you know." He doesn't respond and you don't wait for him to, slipping away from him and up towards the Manor. As you glance back on your way out, though, you can't help but notice him still staring intently at the screens, his profile on Red Hood up while he tracks the vigilante across the city. You wonder if Jason knows how much Bruce loves and misses him - and then you wonder if Bruce, himself, has realized it at all.
