After the long training of today you were completely drained. You winced with each new step you took, your muscles were tense and all you wanted to do was soak in a bath and let the warmth of the water soothe your aching muscles. You chuckled, his questioning bringing a smile to your lips “Yes, you're right, we haven't met today... I can stay.”
At your words you saw a slight smile spread across his often emotionless face ( yeah I did say that ahahah but remember in the very beginning we couldn't say he was that expressive ) at that moment his eyes were still riveted on the clouds above his head. Though as soon as you restarted undressing, you couldn't help but feel his gaze on you, and as you looked in his direction you didn't miss the way his gaze studied your every move.
“Can you look the other way until I get in the water ?”

“Muichiro,” you warned.
He did as you told him, couldn't help a slight blush appearing on his upper cheeks, and put one of his hands there to feel the warmth underneath. You entered the water shortly afterwards. The movement created a slight ripple on the water's surface. You sighed heavily as your body relaxed almost immediately in the warm embrace of this healing water.

"You gotta shoot—"
"You haven't turned yet." Satoru swallows the lump in his throat and shakes his head. "Y/n, please do something." He turns to you, fear evident in his eyes.
"Let me see." You approach him.
"No." He sternly says, stepping back. "It won't be much longer before I turn. Stay away." There's tears welling up in his eyes.
Nobara turns away from the group, collapsing on the ground, choking on her sobs. She grabs onto Itadori, shaking.
You forcefully grab his hand and inspect it, it was a straight cut down his hand. "There's no teeth marks." You say to Satoru, he's next to you pacing back and forth. "I don't think you got bit. It's a deep scratch."
"Still, one of those things touched me." Megumi says.
"Do you feel any different?" You ask him, setting your backpack down to find your things to clean and bandage him up.
"I-I don't know." He says stressed.
"Can he still turn if he got scratched?" Nobara asks, wiping her tears.
"Not likely, but it can get infected more easily." You say, "Itadori, go find me a chair please." He nods, having hope that Megumi will be alright.
Satoru remains silent, watching you carefully clean his wound. He's terrified, the thought of losing one of his students was his worst nightmare. Especially Megumi, he had taken the roll of his father.
"He's going to be okay." You tell Satoru and he simply nods.
"Here." Itadori brings over a chair and helps Megumi sit down.
"This is gonna sting a bit." You say and pour the liquid over his wound, Megumi hisses and shuts his eyes. Now that his wound was clean it was much easier to see how deep the cut was.
You frown as blood continued to spill out, "You're gonna need some stitches."
"Now?" Megumi's eyes widen.
"I don't know, I was thinking maybe next week at 2:00 pm." You sarcastically say.
"Not funny." Satoru frowns.
"Sorry. Yes now." You say.
"Have you ever done stitches on somebody that wasn't yourself?" Megumi asks.
"You're really worried about that dude? You almost fucking died." Itadori smacks the back of his head.
"You're lucky I'm injured." Megumi glares at him.
You have Satoru hold your things for you while you got to work on Megumi's hand, you warned him that it wasn't going to feel very good.
He shuts his eyes the whole time, making a fist with his other hand and digging his nails into his palm to help relive some pain.
You tied it off and applied some ointment, "Take these." You hand him some pain killers and he swallows them.
As soon as he stood up from his chair, Satoru engulfed him in a hug. You softly smile, he really cares for his students. Megumi was surprised and a little grumpy, but he returned the hug. You noticed Satoru wipe his eyes quickly, thinking nobody saw him.
"Don't do that again." Satoru clears his throat. "Thank you, Y/n."
"Yeah, thank you." Megumi says.
"You're an idiot." Nobara hits Megumi, but ends up hugging him with Itadori.
"Where are we?" You ask, putting your things away and arming yourself again.
"Looks like our base back home, but bigger." Nobara remarks.
"There's a door that way." Itadori says and begins leading the way.
You're all cautious in case anybody else is there, the door opens and reveals a huge room, there were tons of rooms. It looked like your base back home.
After ensuring nobody else was in the building, you wandered off to explore. There was even more food and supplies, but one particular room made you stop in your tracks.
It was a lab. The one Shoko had been showing you. 'This is the base Nanami was talking about.' You think to yourself. Suddenly, you grew excited, this place would be perfect.
"Satoru!" You run back to him, he was inspecting the kitchen. "This is the base Nanami was talking about."
"What?" He says confused.
"Nanami and Shoko wanted to check out this base. We're in the base." You say.
"And there's nobody here?" He asks, raising his weapon now.
"I don't think so." Itadori says, coming back with the other two first-years.
"Get into formation." Satoru says, you lift a brow as the four of them get ready. "Follow us." He makes eye contact with you.
You simply nod and hold up your gun, joining them as you go room to room, inspecting every crevice for other people or zombies. You feel Nobara holding her breath before every room and then releasing it once there's nothing.
It took awhile to make sure the place was empty, but it was worth making sure it was. "Well?" You face Satoru.
"I think we could make this work." He pulls you in for a hug, melting from the smell of you. "We'll make it." He whispers for you to hear, then pulls away reluctantly.
Nobara eyes Itadori as they both watched the scene unfold in front of them, she gives him a look indicating that they'll debrief about this later.
Megumi returns from upstairs, a frown evident on his face. "Guys," he gets everyone's attention, "I think we're trapped here."
"What do you mean?" Itadori furrows his brows.
"Follow me." Megumi leads the way up the stairs. You all are able to lookout from the secure tower, you see the entire place surrounded by zombies.
"What the hell?" You say, "Why aren't they leaving?"
"No idea, but we can't leave." Megumi says.
Satoru rubs his forehead, muttering curses underneath his breath.
"Can we take them?" Itadori clenched his jaw, looking determined already.
"There's no way." Nobara shook her head.
"Absolutely not. We've risked enough for today." Satoru says, "We've gotta figure out a way to contact the others."
"Do you think they'll still be at the radio tower?" You ask, eyeing the machines next to you that would be able to contact them.
Satoru checks his watch, "We have 30 minutes before we're supposed to meet back up with them."
"It's worth a shot." Megumi turns on the machine and messes with the frequencies. He nods towards Satoru and he begins speaking.
"Nanami? Are you there? Over." It's quiet and staticky, he tries again another two more times, but nothing.
"Next one." You say to Megumi and he toggles the radio. Eventually, the static became a norm as the 5 of you continued to reach Nanami and the others.
"Anyone—hear." You briefly heard over the static. "Wait Megumi, listen." You make him pause mid switch and he does what you tell him.
"Located near—" it cuts off again, "Go ahead one more." Nobara and Itadori circle around the table.
"Hello, hello, can anyone out there hear me? Over." The person says clear as day.
"That has to be Nanami!" You gasp and then quickly hit Satoru's shoulder so he'd be able to make his message.
Before Nanami can give his second message, Satoru interrupts him. "Yes, do you copy? Over."
You're all anticipating his next words, if they even come, "Loud and clear, who's speaking? Over." You all cheer for a quick moment then get back down to the matter at hand.
"We got someone!" Nanami gets Maki's attention and she tells the rest of the group to listen.
"It's Satoru Gojo, we ran into a predicament, over."
Nanami frowns when he hears his name, "Never mind, it's this idiot." The group groaned, excitement leaving their bodies.
The conversation between the two went back and forth a few times before Nanami ultimately decided that he and his group would lure the zombies away from the gate, giving you guys just enough time get the hell out of there.
"No casualties please." Satoru mutters underneath his breath before placing a hand on the small of your back to lead you to the front door. "We escape on my word, got it?" He faces the first-years and they all nod.
Satoru gives you a firm nod and you open the door, one by one everyone walked towards the fence and stood, awaiting their teachers orders.
You searched for a familiar blonde near the crowd of zombies and finally spotted him and the rest of the crew.
"You're late!" Nanami yells at Satoru, "I said be back at 3:30!". This causes Satoru to frown. The group creates a commotion to get the zombies attention and it works slowly, the ones further in the back seemed to quickly move towards them.
After a few minutes the crowd begins to dwindle, you draw your bow and begin firing arrows to back up some zombies and eliminate them. Nobara joins in and begins to throw some of her knives, effectively taking them down.
The guns would draw too much attention and bring the zombies that Nanami lured out to come back.
"Now! Go!" Satoru yells, you yank open the gate and allow everyone to get out.
"Meet us on the 5th block!" Shoko yells and you all begin running away from the zombies. You shut the gate closed and follow behind them.
As you ran you shot a few arrows to keep the distance between danger larger, you're quickly running out, making you worry.
Your lungs burn the longer you're having to run, Satoru is keeping his eye on you, making sure you're not too far behind. You're busy shooting off the zombies, after you fired your last arrow you quickly caught up to the group.
You met up with Nanami and his group completely winded and out of breath. Everyone had their hands on their knees, desperate for air.
"Thank you." Satoru says to the other group.
"Everybody good?" Maki asks, eyeing all of you in case someone is acting off.
"Yeah, all good." You say, finally being able to breathe.
"Let's head back. Quickly." Nanami suggests. The walk/jog back to base was quiet. Everybody in their own thoughts.
Being in the semi-comfort of the base eased your anxiety. The kids were safe and sitting in the living room, talking quietly about what happened.
You were lost in thought, thinking back to the situation where you could've seriously gotten hurt. You put them all in danger, a feeling of regret pooled in your stomach, making you shift uncomfortably in your seat.
"Y/n?" Nanami brings you back to reality, "Did you hear what I said?"
You quickly shake your head, "No, I'm sorry, I was-uh distracted." You cleared your throat, "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah," He waves you off, "I just asked if you were up to catch us some dinner."
"Oh yeah, of course." You quickly get up from your seat and prepare to leave.
"I'm coming with." Satoru smiles.
"No, it's okay." You brush him off. You don't wanna put any of them in danger again.
"What?" He chuckles.
"I kinda want to be alone, just for a little—"
"Absolutely not. Nobody goes anywhere alone." He crosses his arms.
"Then I'll ask Nanami or Shoko to go with me." You say, continuing to pack.
"Excuse me?" He scoffs.
"I didn't mean it like that. I like having you there, but I don't really feel like talking and I know Nanami or Shoko won't ask anything." You explain, finally facing him.
"I'm going." He stands his ground, towering over you. He's so close to you that you can smell the snack he ate earlier.
"It's fine. I'm sure you're tired anyway." You cross your arms, mirroring him.
"Tired?" He laughs, "You must not know me, sweetheart. I'm going." The look in his eyes tell you that he is not backing down.
"Okay." You say, and begin to head out. He follows behind you, offended that you even thought of bringing somebody else with you.
The door slams, catching everybody's attention in the room. "What just happened?" Shoko furrows her brows.
"No idea." Megumi says, eyes trained on the door.
You put some distance between the two of you, noticing it was later than you'd like when hunting, you let out a frustrated sigh. Satoru frowns at your behavior, wanting to be close to you.
He shakes his head, 'What's wrong with me?' He doesn't even get a chance to blink before you had already caught dinner, walking past him without a word.
He clenches his jaw and jogs up to you, "What's wrong?" He whispers.
"Nothing. It's been a long, tiring, eventful day." You say.
"Did I do something?" He asks.
"No."
"Then why the cold shoulder?" He asks and he's met with silence on your end. He's had enough, he moves in front of you, holding you in place so you can't leave. "What's wrong." He asks again, this time you can tell he's not playing around.
"Nothing." You roll your eyes and try to walk away. His grip on you was unwavering, he was insanely strong. "Can we maybe not do this now? Especially when we're out in the open?!" You free yourself from him and begin to walk away.
His eyes widen at your annoyance, enforcing the distance even more than when you did at the beginning of the hunt.
You feel terrible for snapping at him, your eyes water as you continue walking back. A small part of you wanted him to come back up to you and try again, now you're sure he hates you.
As you enter, you quickly tell Nanami that you're not feeling too well so you were going to lay down for a bit before your watching shift. Satoru frowns at your absence, but decides to still give you some space.
You were able to sleep for a few hours, but your nightmare of what happened earlier woke you up in cold sweat. You catch your breath for a few seconds and calm your anxiety, you realize you're parched and get up to grab a water.
Satoru sat on the couch, a frown still evident on his face, but his eyes lighten up the second he sees you pass by. He gives you a small smile and watches you drink from your water quickly.
He stands up and walks toward you with a plate in hand. "It's not warm anymore, but I figured you'd be hungry." You see the food you had caught earlier.
"I'm not really hungry right now, but thanks." You take the plate and sit down at the table, he mirrors you and sat down as well.
He gives you a small smile, finally content that you were talking to him again. His attention went out the window, watching the snow fall slowly.
"I'm sorry for earlier." You snap his attention back towards you, "I just didn't want to endanger you more than I already did."
"Endanger me?" He moves closer to you. "You're talking about what happened at the mall, right?"
Your stomach churns as you begin to replay the scene in your head. "That was really fucking stupid of me, I'm really sorry." You rub your eyes, trying your best to keep your tears from falling.
"Don't talk about yourself like that." He clenches his jaw, "We're gonna run into trouble everywhere we go. That was not your fault."
"I left my weapons, who does that?!" You say, your teary eyes looking into his big blue ones, he fights everything in him to pull you into his chest and hold you.
"It was a mistake, but you're not stupid or weak." He reassures you. "And we're all gonna make them, not just you, alright?"
It was quiet for a few moments, you were beginning to calm down. "Besides," he gets your attention, "they were weak anyway." He makes you chuckle, bringing a smile onto his face. "There she is." He pinches your cheek and you jokingly push him away.

HI HELLO UHHH well i feel like the order in which i listened (but slightly adjusted) was a good way to listen to everything- i'd say the first redacted 101 video about magic is very useful in explaining the basics so probably that first and then:
- freelancer season 1
- sadism's hold (ivan) you could listen at the same time as freelancer s1 bc it takes place at the same time
- freelancer season 2
- inversion
- freelancer season 3
- sovereign state (avior)
- project meridian ^^ with avior and project meridian you could switch their positions and listen either way
- hush
- carpe deus (vega)
- the balance ^^ again you could switch the positions of vega and the balance but just know they're both veryvery heavy lore wise so i'd recommend listening to last. i also recommend listening to hush and vega at the same time
these are just for the narrative/lore focused playlists ^^ as for the character playlists, you can listen in whichever order you want- i'd already listened to a lot of vincent before the freelancer series and i listened to milo just whenever- i finished listening to david, asher and sam last just bc they're not my kinda guys tbh 💀 the werewolves (david, asher and milo) and the vampires (vincent and sam) do also all appear in inversion and some people might recommend listening to them all first before inversion but i didn't and it was all fine- i could still figure out what was going on and could tell them apart easily but then again, if you do listen before, you'll understand inversion more and will have all the context so it's just up to you‼️i haven't listed all the character playlists btw, just the ones who appear in the narrative/plot-focused ones but there are others too like porter <3
and then there's other random characters like guy, ollie and geordi and stuff lol which aren't too involved in anything but they're veryvery cool and nice to listen to when recovering from angst 😃👍
oh and then there's the imperium au- which i'm actually still listening to (i keep procrastinating it lol). it's an alternate universe so just don't even go near that until you've listened to everything else 😭‼️

It was just a few days into summer, and Shane already had plans to change up his usual routine once again.
Ever since moving onto your farmland, he found himself getting more motivated to take longer walks. This morning, he planned on doing so after ensuring the crops were watered and the animals were well-fed.
He greeted the cows, rabbit, pigs, and chickens as they filed out of the coop and barn one-by-one, not letting any of them miss their daily pets. Seeing the ostrich and little green dinosaur emerge didn't faze him as much as it did the first time he saw them--he still had no clue how you acquired their eggs (especially one from the skull caverns), but you didn't treat them any differently.
They were both lovable creatures. Just like the blue chickens he introduced you to several months ago.
Knowing you raised some and kept them on the farm made him beam with pride, glad he got to stay here and help run things in your steed.
He wouldn't trade it for the world.
You set off for the beach earlier than usual today, having left a note on the table, and Shane opted to just hang back and repair some of the fences that were looking a bit worn out.
According to the TV, it was a "good luck day", and you hoped to find fortune in the form of a rainbow shell washed up on the coast. You certainly loved foraging them, but even if there weren't any around, you figured you'd go fishing.
Your husband wasn't the best at either skill, although a few hours after you left, he felt a little bored and decided to go visit the beach. Maybe you could use his moral support since other people--mainly Willy and Elliot-mentioned hearing you curse like a sailor when you were wrestling with a fish...or when said fish escaped your line.
He could be there to cheer you up, or teasingly bet on how many joja cola cans you'll fish out of the ocean.
That would be pretty funny, he thought.
So he headed off on his usual walking route, but instead of going to Cindersap Forest or stopping by Pelican Town's river, he ventured towards the beach, greeting whoever said "hello" to him.
Upon arrival, however, Shane stopped in his tracks as he noticed you weren't entirely alone on the beach.
It wasn't Willy, Elliot, Leah, nor that parrot kid you rescued from Ginger Island, but Alex.
He wouldn't have minded that so much....if not for the fact that you two were sitting awfully close together on the coast, overlooking the foamy waves. You were totally oblivious to his presence, so he hung back with suspicion.
Of course, he knew you were growing more sociable with the rest of the villagers, and he didn't want your marriage to be the reason you stopped talking to people.
Even so..something didn't feel right about this, especially as he watched you move closer to Alex, putting an arm around him. And when the younger male put his head on your shoulder, Shane's heart dropped.
You were talking, but obviously he couldn't make out what you were saying thanks to the noisy waves and annoying seagulls.
At this point, however, it became clear what was going on.
And it made him feel utterly sick to his stomach, his mind constantly circling back to one conclusion. Only one explanation as to why you'd ever be that close to Alex, and perhaps why you've been frequently leaving the farm earlier than normal:
You were seeing him behind his back, thinking he'd never find out.
He didn't know how else to interpret that. How else could he?
But of everybody in this town, why did it have to be the guy who reminded him of his youthful days in gridball?
The guy who radiated positivity and was always in high spirits?
The guy who wasn't old and weak and depressed...like him?
'I knew it..they finally got bored of me. But why would they do this?' Scowling, he felt like storming over and saying something, but he couldn't will himself to freak out here and now.
No.
Why bother?
Instead he decided to turn on his heel and storm back to the farm, nearly tripping over a rainbow shell as he did so. The saloon was closed, so he couldn't escape there...but he'll settle for rotting in bed until you come home.
You'll be back, and he'll confront you then.
.......
Coming back to the farmland around noon, you frowned a bit as you didn't see Shane anywhere outside. He wasn't at the mini coop like he normally was, and poor Charlie was looking for him.
"Where did he go, Charles? Hm?" With a soft coo, you kneeled down to pet the chicken. She clucked, her beak pointing towards the cabin, and you thanked her with a small handful of corn before continuing inside.
However, as soon as you stepped into a rather quiet house, all the excitement sapped out of you. You'd normally hear him playing video games or watching a Tunneler's game, but as you entered your shared bedroom...you found him just laying down, his back turned to you.
"Hey, honey." You sighed, relieved as you sat down on the mattress. "All that farmwork got tiring, huh? I understand. Thank you for doing it."
"........."
"..Shane? You still asleep?"
There was a long silence, only for it to be broken by a quiet sniffle, and your heart sunk, wondering what happened. "Hey, what's wrong-?"
As you put a hand on his shoulder, Shane flinched and rolled over to face you, his eyes red and watery, and his expression full of disgust...as though you did something wrong.
You've never seen him get this angry at you. Not since your first meeting with him. "Baby-?"
"No. Enough petnames, [y/n]." He huffed, sitting up and staring at you with contempt. "You don't get to act like everything's fine. Like I don't know what's really going on."
"...what?"
"Why were you with Alex today? Did he convince you I wasn't good enough for you anymore? That I'm past my prime?"
You blinked in bewilderment, wondering how on earth he knew that and why he was getting so upset. "Wha..you were at the beach? Why didn't you tell me?"
"That's..not important." He grumbled. "If you love him more, fine. Just tell me. I was ready for the day you'd finally get sick of me. But..to do that behind my back...I just..." Fresh tears brimmed his eyes as he clutched the mermaid pendant with a shaky hand. "I thought you were different..but I was wrong."
Now you were totally lost, heart racing as you tried to wrack your brain for any reason he'd assume that you were cheating on him with Alex. You knew he had some major jealousy issues, and he's been actively working through them with his therapist, but it was never this bad.
"Listen, I promise that what you saw isn't what it-"
"You don't have to lie. I get it. He's young, better looking...he's everything I used to be. So why don't I just go and you can have him live on this farm with you? At least he won't be a burden. At least he won't-"
"Shane just stop. Stop." You raised your voice, growing infuriated. "What in the hell made you think I wanna be with Alex when we're married?! When I've been nothing but there for you since I moved to town?! If you let me finish, I'll explain everyth-"
"Oh I'm sure you have a "perfect" explanation already lined up." He rolled his eyes. "Unless you can tell me why you were that close to him, I don't see why I'm even-"
"Today's the anniversary of his mom's death."
Shane blinked once.
Then twice.
Then three times.
"Wha..?"
"She passed away 12 years ago." Frowning slightly, you watched his expression shift wildly. "Alex was sitting there, crying his eyes out, and I just...wanted to comfort him. Like any friend would do. That's all."
At this moment, Shane felt like the biggest piece of shit in the valley, and his shoulders sagged. He didn't know what to say.
"We just hugged, and he told me about the good memories they had," you continued, moving closer to put a hand over his own. "Cross my heart, absolutely nothing was going on between us, honey. You really think I'd do that to you? To the man I love?"
"....I....I didn't know he lost his mom.." He mumbled, still at a loss for words.
"Well it's not exactly something he'd share with the whole town. And I was gonna keep it between us, but you wouldn't let me explain myself." You reminded him with a small huff, and he looked down in guilt.
As quickly as your anger rose, however, it was quick to disappear as you watched him. He seemed very torn up and ashamed for accusing you of cheating, but you could understand his perspective and why he saw it in that light.
You would've been suspicious, too.
"Look..I know it did look like something else was going on. And I'm really sorry-"
"No, no..I should be sorry for acting like a total dickhead." Shane gazed back up at you, and his face tore your heart to shreds. "I didn't mean to freak and accuse you of anything. You were just comforting a kid who lost his mom and...I got angry for no reason. Without hearing your side. I shouldn't be like this..yet I feel like some bitter old man.."
"Hey, you're not old." You shook your head, cupping both sides of his cheeks and giving him a gentle kiss. "You're barely 30."
"Still..my body feels that way." He lightly chuckled, enveloping you in a tight hug. "And again, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, [y/n]...I promise I'm working on these stupid jealousy issues."
"I know you are, and I forgive you." Smiling, you squeezed him tight. "We're gonna be okay."
"Mhm..also..um..I found something for you." He let you go and dug into his jacket pocket for an unknown item, and when he presented it to you, the grin on your face was infectious.
"Oh my god..you found one for me?!!" Your eyes lit up, as you now held a beautiful rainbow shell in your hands.
Shane nodded. "Iridium quality."
"You're the best. I love you." Laughing, you brought him back into a hug, giving him a few more kisses. "And you said you sucked at foraging, huh?"
"Ah, well..just the "chopping trees" part. Picking stuff off the ground is easy." He shrugged, his smile bashful. "Glad you like it, sweetheart. Take it as my apology for that..um..misunderstanding."
"I forgive you a thousand times over. Now..I think I'll display this beauty in our aquarium. What do you think, Shane?"
"I think I'll go with and see."
You both hopped out of bed and headed over to where you kept the aquarium tanks, with Shane in better spirits than he was before.
He still felt guilty for acting that way towards you, but your everlasting patience and persistence with him prevails.
He's glad he picked up that rainbow shell for you.

Changes I'd make to Tim Drake (Warning: may be controversial)

As my favorite Robin, I've needed to make this post for a long time. I know my opinions may not be agreed upon, but I hope my dedication is still appreciated, nonetheless.

He isn't dragged for his superhero goals--Any poor mistake that DC makes, they decide to pin it on him having poor judgement, which is really unfair. As many things that get ignored/retconned (even if they arguably shouldn't be, depending on the subject), it feels bizarre to drag Tim for things like his ill-fated "Drake" costume and era, especially when it was walked back on so quickly. On top of this, people seem to look down on him for genuinely enjoying being Robin. Robin wasn't always a move on position, per se; Dick had been Robin for consecutive decades before deciding he wanted something different, while Jason was murdered and became someone else as a reflection of this. Tim became Robin because he saw that Batman NEEDED him, and deduced Batman and the previous Robin's identities on his own. If he wants to do stop being Batman's partner (or sidekick, depending on perspective), it should be his own choice, not everyone else saying "this was a temp job and you're out."

He has his own unique color, costume, and maybe even codename--Even if he remains by Batman's side, Tim deserves to be distinct; his codename and color scheme are shared with all his brothers, and it doesn't do much for him. I'd definitely prefer a cowless take on his Savior costume (unsure about the codename; it feels a bit too on-the-nose, but it also feels like it represents his need to help others) or bring back his N52 Red Robin suit WITH the wings as well as making him the brother in purple, which goes well with the Batfamily's aesthetic as well as signifying his romance with Stephanie and friendship with Bunker.

He's going for a psyche major--I feel like this fits so well with his motivations. It's weird that the Batfamily doesn't put more stock in studying psychology outside of Harley (who rarely uses this skill, much to my chagrin). Tim wants what's best for everyone, and became a hero in order to help people. He isn't simply trying to stop problems, but prevent them and make Gotham a better place for everyone. While he can still go for a cyber-related degree (I don't remember his exact major), I'd prefer he also go for a degree that furthers his desire to understand and improve others, plus it's good to help him better understand himself as well.

He isn't bi--Hate me if you must. I'm a gay guy, and I just didn't vibe with this reveal. During the mid-2000s, it was stated by one of his artists that he and the writers kind of already saw Tim as bi, though DC never made this canon until 2021. As far as I know (as a 2010s comic person), it never seemed like DC was keen to lean into LGBT sexuality for Tim, and given that they've been treating him poorly post-N52, it feels like this was a random "let's find a way to make Tim as popular as his brothers" by making him stand out in a way that they didn't. I know this is a bold claim, but this is a feeling I've had for a while now, especially since his personal life now mainly revolves around Bernard (personal bias, but I'm usually not a fan of heroes dating non-heroes; I'd prefer him with Bunker--or Connor, if he's romantically into guys). And they haven't done him many favors since; DC infamously described him as the "always-online bisexual" in a now deleted tweet embodies my concern that they're just defining him by his sexuality now, as well as a solo comic with horrendous art for most of the run. If Jason or Damian were depicted as bi (with the latter being the least controversial choice, imo, given his younger tenure in comics and romantic life not as fleshed out), I'm almost sure they'd be better handled, probably because they've been better handled as characters in recent years. Overall, I found Tim's retcon of sexuality unnecessary (yet when we have bi characters such as Ghostmaker who were LGBT from the get-go and don't get nearly as much attention) and overall used as a metaphor for his "indecisiveness" at making decisions that DC forced onto him.

He still has a (biological) family and life--A big problem with writers and artists is that they sometimes have a problem with trying to make the 4 Robins identical in appearence and lives. Unlike Jason and Dick, Tim wasn't an orphan adopted by Bruce, not originally anyway. He had his own life and chose to be part of Bruce's world, and the need to make him an orphan with pretty much nothing going on in his civilian life (is he still an Olympic-level gymnast? Kinda love the idea that he takes time off for "me time" here and there and that's when Damian or another Batfam member jumps in). Let him have friends and family as Tim Drake, not just as Robin. Let Bruce be his dad without killing off his biological one. Let Tim have autonomy and individuality!

More A-list connections--This is being petty, but most of his friends are next-gen people with no major stuff going on for themselves, just like him. Surrounding yourself with important people can help you become important, too. I'm not telling friends to drop his friend groups (him and Conner have one of the best male homosocial relationships in comics and it sucks how it got overshadowed by Damian and Jon), but giving him more relationships with well-known characters could help his status. I have similar feelings for Starfire (we need more of her friendship and Superman).

Never lose sight of who he is--The idea with Tim (at least from what I've absorbed) is that he's the most optimistic, maybe even naive, version of Dick, committed to wanting to help people and support them, and not one to brush them off of devalue them. He's got a heart, not just a brain, and I like to consider him one of the glue sticks that holds the family together. He doesn't need to be edgy or cool in the way that Damian and Jason are, nor should he be reduced to a sex object like Dick (which is another post entirely).

Feel free to ignore if this is unwelcome, but have you ever thought about publishing traditionally to sublimate your income and draw in new readers? I know you've self published two books already and that you didn't feel like they did very well, but maybe the experience would be different if someone else was in charge of marketing and all the other business stuff?
Obviously everyone's experience is different but as an author myself who's published both trad and self, traditional publishing has been a completely different experience and has allowed me to focus more on writing because I'm not the one responsible for advertising/marketing/financing anymore.
There are a ton of literary agents nowadays that want to represent diverse and lgbtqia+ fiction, some of them even in Australia.
Websites like Reedsy, AgentQuery and Jerichowriters have extensive directories to find literary agents.
(This is lengthy folks so I'm putting the other two parts (and my response) under a read more! Also putting it under a read more so the anon can skip my response since it's very 'here's all the reasons I can't do this' and they just might not want to read that, lmao)

Trad publishing houses have better resources for marketing and helping authors get more attention than any self publishing website could.
Obviously most authors, unless they're really prolific, don't get a huge advance (the average is between $1000 - $5000) but getting your foot in the door or on the traditional publishing "ladder' so to speak can have a huge benefit for your serials. Because it gives you more exposure. Plus it's in the agent's best interest to find a publishing house that accepts stories that contain darker themes and negotiate the best deal for you.
For some reason places like Amazon and the like accept and keep up more "dark" books that are traditionally published than they do with self pub ones. Maybe because they have more respect or leniency for publishing houses? I have no idea. But you could use this to your advantage. I think I remember you mentioning that writing novels felt quite isolating to you? But you already have 2 completed novels (3 if you count the fae one) that you could potentially revisit or rewrite to your liking and get them represented by agents.
You already have a loyal readership and that's very attractive to trad pub houses and agents.
As well as trad publishing, you could also make s simple website that doesn't require much maintenance. It could be just a landing page that says something about you and then has links to your tumblr and patreon where you're more active. That way you increase the chances of getting your serials found by additional readers and also come across looking more "professional". Not that you're not professional now. You are and I admire you greatly, but the unfortunate reality is a lot of people still judge by appearances and some will be more drawn to an author's website than a tumblr page, at least at first. So I think having a simple landing page would open up another door for you to benefit from.
Trad publishing is work but definitely not as much as self publishing, and you can continue on with your serials. Getting an agent can be time consuming but I personally believe the pros outweigh the cons and I also believe that your stories would be a huge treasure to the growing lgbtqia+ market. Seriously there needs to be more!
These are just suggestions and thoughts and like I said before, feel free to ignore. But I know you've mentioned wanting to grow your career in the past and I genuinely believe you can do so with some of these pathways.

Okay, my response. Posting this because firstly I think the suggestions could work very well for other authors reading this! And I hope they take the advice to note, and secondly because I haven't talked about this for a hot minute so let's talk about it again.
So the TL;DR is yes I have considered traditional publishing. I have actually been traditionally published in short stories, poetry, and also had my art published on covers and re: interior illustrations. But my Fae Tales works got soundly rejected when I sent them to publishing houses that were doing open calls for that sort of material. I've never heard back from an agent and I never expect to, heh.

Now for a bit more detail
I have been traditionally published before (it's how I got my writing out there long before I ever wrote serials), and yes, I have approached publishers with my writing since then. In fact Tradewinds was written for the traditional publishing market, and it got soundly rejected, and then shelved. The reasons it was rejected ran the gamut from 'I don't like that these fae eat humans no one is going to relate to these people' (while the editor then went on to publish vampire books idk) to 'There's too much worldbuilding you can't expect readers to keep up with this' to 'Your stories are too long, no one wants to read characters talking all the time.'
Meanwhile in my online serials I was getting feedback like 'my favourite chapters are the ones where the characters just sit in a room and talk' lol.
The traditional publishing world is also not quite as utopian for most authors as you make it seem. I'm friends with a lot of authors who are traditionally published because that's the world I came from, and unless they're solely in KU and doing generic rapid release formula romances, none of them are making that much money. Certainly not enough to live off. It may have been that you were very fortunate, anon, but I know hundreds more traditionally published authors that left trad pub to make money, and I know about 5 in trad pub personally who are making enough to live off of.
Only one of those is really writing what she truly loves to write, and even then, publishing houses have refused to commit to her entire fantasy series (and she's regularly in 'Top 10/20 Women Fantasy Authors in the World' lists) and forced her to finish the series prematurely. Something I never ever have to worry about in self pub.
The reality is that in trad pub these days, you're still in charge of most of your marketing unless you're one of the big earners for the publishing house. In fact I'd be expected to keep even more of a social media and marketing presence than I do now. I don't do almost any of the things you're supposed to do as an author in marketing to be appealing. I don't have a Facebook author account. I don't have an Instagram author account. I don't maintain or regularly send out newsletters (which automatically puts me in the like 0.05% of authors who make money doing this lmao).
I don't know if you ever have looked that closely into what m/m publishing houses expect from most of their authors, but the newsletter swaps, cover releases, review circuits, interview circuits and more are fucking grueling. We're expected to be responsible for our advertising and our marketing to a fairly massive degree. Some traditionally published in m/m still have to pay for their release blitzes out of pocket. These publishing houses, by and large, do not offer advances. You say most authors don't get large advances. I don't think most authors in this arena get offered advances at all unless they're somehow miraculously acquired by a Big 4.
We're expected to have an already established social media presence because of that (that's why it's so appealing to publishers that we have social media presences already, anon, so we can market, they can save money, and we still see only a minimal cut from the royalties).
And you still have to focus on your finances, because publishing houses like Dreamspinner straight up didn't pay a whole bunch of authors for so long they destroyed careers. They still haven't paid some of their authors. And they're still running a business and people still buy their books.
Trad publishing houses have better resources for marketing and helping authors get more attention than any self publishing website could.
This is true if a) they're a big publishing house and not an indie publisher of which most LGBTQIA+ publishing houses are and b) they're willing to use them on you.
The authors that make the most money get the most resources. If they believe you're going to earn back your advance and move thousands or tens of thousands of units per book, then yes, you will get those resources.
I have been told so many times now - even from friends who run publishing houses, including one who works at HarperCollins - that my work will never be mainstream enough to have broad appeal. They literally told me not to keep trying re: trad pub, because that was my dream for a long time. These folks have given me rock solid advice in the past, it's one of the reasons I'm doing so well now via Patreon + Ream. But they were like (paraphrasing) 'you don't write 60-80k romances and you don't want to and that's not your strength anyway, you're multi-genre which makes you hard to market, you write psychological and literary trauma recovery which is hard to market, you write character studies which are hard to market, publishing houses often don't commit to series anymore if the first two don't move units and if they pulled the plug you'd be contractually obliged to never finish that series until your contract was up.' I could go on, but it was like yeah...actually. Fair.

They do, but most publishing houses want very formulaic dark romance which is not what I write.
I have a 300k omegaverse slowburn that still hasn't had any penetrative sex in it, anon. Publishing houses don't want that. They don't expect anyone will wait 4 full length novels to get to literally a single penetrative sex scene.
But you already have 2 completed novels (3 if you count the fae one) that you could potentially revisit or rewrite to your liking and get them represented by agents.
If I rewrote them to my liking, trad pub wouldn't want them. They'd be too long! I think agents etc. take one look at me and go 'oh god, no thank you!' I'm not an easy sell, by any means.
Plus I'm very e.e about all of that with the knowledge that they then give me only about 10-15% of the royalties on the sales, vs. self-pub where I get around 70%, or subscription where I around 80% of it. When someone subscribes to me, they don't have to worry about 85-90% of their subscription fee going to a publishing house. I don't have to think about how many thousands and thousands of books I'd have to sell to make the same amount that I do now via subscription.
As well as trad publishing, you could also make s simple website that doesn't require much maintenance.
If it was that simple, I'd be doing it. I don't mean this in a facetious way, I mean it in a: I've made a lot of websites, in fact I run one at the moment not connected to my writing (I've been running it for so long it's now in its 20s and can probably has a driver's license). I find it so tedious that I barely remember to check in on it. But forgetting about it means there's always maintenance to keep up with when I get back to it.
Running websites is simpler than it used to be, but it's still not simple. There's hosting and hosting costs, there's server changes, there's back-end maintenance etc. I'm considering it for down the track, but there's a reason I decided to go the route of Patreon over my own site. There are authors (like Christopher Hopper) who actually do subscription through their own domain, but it's a lot of work.
Even placeholder sites are still work. They need updating, details change, story titles changing etc. Maintaining my Patreon + Ream About pages is enough, they're always both a little out of date, lol.
Not that you're not professional now.
Oh no, I mean from a 'traditional publisher looking at me to see what kind of candidate I am' I'm really not though. Like I said, I don't have the newsletter (100 subscribers who get one newsletter a year is not really a newsletter), I don't have the Facebook/Tiktok/Insta/Twitter/Bluesky/Threads accounts, etc. I write multi-genre across multiple steam levels, and I'm allergic to writing serials shorter than 150k. One of my best performing original serials was an 800k contemporary story with no sex in it but a lot of BDSM. It can't be marketed as clean or sweet, it's not high steam, an entire chapter is 'boy saves snail from rain.' Also he was cruel to animals, so not exactly what I'd call a sympathetic main.
And yet that story did so well for me via Patreon + Ream, because people want the kinds of stories that publishing houses generally don't want and I happen to be writing them.

Anon I just literally do not believe an agent would want to represent me. I have 0% belief in that. Not from a self-deprecating angle but from a 'I am not a good bet for the trad market' perspective. From a 'I have so many friends who are trad pubbed authors who stare at me like I'm insane for writing serials as long as I do' perspective. From a 'professionals in the industry have told me it's amazing I'm doing so well in serials because there's no way they'd take a risk on what I'm doing' perspective. From a 'just because it's queer and diverse doesn't mean it hits literally any other thing a trad pub is looking for' perspective. I've been doing this for 10 years. There are agents who represent work similar to mine who know what I'm doing and wouldn't touch me with a ten foot pole. They're not missing out on a trick, they know I'm not broad appeal, and they're right.
Also the only way I'd have the energy to manage trad pub is by quitting serials. And honestly, I never found trad pub all that much fun while I was doing it for non-novel stuff. It was fine, and it is nice to have my stuff out there, but it was a ton of admin and a lot of going back and forth between people who really only care about marketing a product, and that's great and what they excel at! But I'm too disabled to turn this job into something crushing just to potentially make more money, I'd rather just quit and go back onto a full Disability Pension. I can't see any way I still get to write the stories I want to write, in the way that I write them, and be remotely appealing to a single reputable trad pub or agent.

Sorry for being negative, but my biggest fear is that since Eddie’s coming arc as been stop twice before, it’s hard to believe it’s still coming. I fear that now they have Bi Buck, they won’t trouble themselves with Eddie.
The way the left Eddie at the end of the season, there is so much they can do with him in the upcoming season. I just hope they take the chance to tell his story which would be so impactful to a lot of people and feels natural to his character. To be honest, I don’t know what else they can do, if they keep throwing woman at him, they have literally shown it’s not working.
You can see the way the tune changed in the middle of the season with those interviews. Is it because they know they got a renewal or they completely put the brake to 'buddie'?
I’ll keep hoping for the best. Tptb, please surprise me. Season 8 will make or break it. I don't see people staying past season 8 if nothing significant happens. I'm pretty sure they know, but why be so afraid. Argh ..

Hey Nonny! Thank you for the lovely compliment. I'm just another fan with some opinions, but I'm glad you like reading about them so much.
No no, I get it. I do. I get the negativity. They were so close to finally going where the story has always been going and then they backed off in the middle of the season. Even the interviews changed. It was clear that Oliver wasn't pleased with the way things were going bts either. And I have the feeling Ryan wasn't happy either. Every single interview he had to think about what he was saying and if it wasn't too much against Buddie, but also not too much pro Buddie. It was hard to see him struggle so much. That's probably why some of these interviews contradicted each other as well.
I really do believe they changed the timeline of the story when they heard about the renewal of the show. They realised they could take their time to give Eddie's coming out story the screentime it deserved. However, now they had to find a way to get Eddie to a place where he would have nothing left. No Chris, no ghost Shannon hanging over his head, no girlfriend... just him and his thoughts. This is the first time in life that Eddie is on his own and it's going to lead to some big time self-reflection.
The consequence of the decision to push the Eddie storyline to season 8 is of course Buck now being stuck in this stale relationship with Tommy.
I have read the interviews Ryan has given after the finale and they do fill me with hope and -dare I say- confidence? The way he talks about Eddie's upcoming struggle and journey very much reads as someone realising they're not as straight as they thought they were. He also stopped talking about Eddie being 'hetero' and started using a lot of gender neutral terms when he talks about a possible future partner for Eddie. So yeah, that is a very good sign to me. A feel like a switch has been flipped now and he is more certain where the story is going.
I agree that it would be the most natural way to explore Eddie's character. He has always been queer-coded, since day one. In my opinion even more than Buck. I was always more convinced of Eddie's queerness than of Buck's. So yeah, it is definitely the best, if not the only, way to go with his character.
And yes, I agree again, if there is no progress in Eddie's storyline and he is once again waylaid, keeping him locked up in that closet, put into another dead relationship with yet another female love interest, put through pain again for no reason whatsoever? A lot of people will give up on the show as a whole. Tired and exhausted that Eddie once again was the victim of bad writing. And if they dare to keep Buck in a relationship with Tommy? They will lose even more viewers.
I myself will retreat back into fanon-land where Buck and Eddie will be happy together forever. I might keep on watching the show from afar, only the parts that interest me. Basically because I love Eddie so much and I only want the best for him. I also love all the other characters and I want to see what happens to them. So I don't think I could give up on the show completely.
However, I really don't think it will have to come to that. I don't know for sure of course, but I do know that this time the odds are in our favour and we have a really good chance to get exactly what we wanted for years now: Eddie coming out in season 8 and eventually, when the dust is settled, Buddie.

Ok while I do agree what caine did is messed up, I don't see anyone coming to his defense with this point, and I feel like it should be considered more

Caine didn't have any way to know gumigoo was centient, I know it was easy to forget that when we as the audience could clearly see it, I did too for a moment but, when you think about it, he didn't see gumigoo become self aware like we did. Like he's said he only has eyes on the circus, and while I don't 100% trust every word he says, the fact he didn't just close the portal the moment gumigoo approached, or hell intervene the moment pomni mentioned bringing him back, Instead just seeming surprised when he noticed gumigoo there, it shows to me that he really doesn't see what happens there, so he most likely didn't know. from his perspective pomni just got way too attached to a character he created, he had no way to know why she did or that he was more then what he made him now

Fuck I hate being an adult. I need a more adult adult to help with the volatile emotional situation.
#I've sort of made a new friend? Like we met at the same art group and he's also trans which was like pleasantly surprising in our small town#but like. We have Differences Of Opinion#and it's not totally his fault because it sounds like he's had a Lot of bad shit in his past that's obviously made him wary and closed off#but like. He's slightly older than me (only 4 years) and keeps blaming a load of his problems on other trans folks?#like you know the type. The like 'all these nonbinary/other identities the kids are doing are complicating shit'#the 'it hurts to see people younger than me inc. kids get hormones thrown at them when I still can't get 'em' (which... yeah not even true)#and he's told me himself he doesn't engage much with the queer community bc it's too 'toxic'#and like. I can absolutely understand why he could've had some bad experiences esp. since he has some mental health shit going on#but he wants to be friends bc he doesn't know anyone else going through the medical shit and it's like. Yeah no shit you don't?#you decided the community you'd find them in is toxic? and that people in them are doing being trans wrong?#and I think if he was just some guy online I'd like roll my eyes and ignore him#but he's a real person in my vicinity and I feel fucking bad for him#and I can see how much self loathing he has and how much that probably informs the bullshit#like he told me he thinks that trans men and cis men are fundamentally different categories and trans men will never be cis men#but not in a 'the experiences are just different and come with different perspectives way'#in like a self defeating way. i was literally thinking about this ask all day, so a lot crossed my mind!! but what i really ended up latching onto was a childhood friends sort of au (v canon divergent)
obvs, i feel like having any sort of relationship with mei mei that lasts this long is going to turn sort of twisty and complicated. she's so honest about her greed, and i feel there's def an always present insecurity surrounding the reader concerning their value to her. not a pressing one, but one that's simply there. addressed so rarely that it's become dust covered and logical.
the tests start off small, like her asking you to do certain tasks for her. little acts of service like grabbing her snacks for lunch, or doing her work, or offering your gym clothes when she forgets her own. the people around you call you a pushover and a doormat. but things have always been this way, and the benefits are so easily identifiable.
she's kind to you. and despite what everyone else says, you're aware that once you turn your back that it's hypocrisy that fuels their attitudes, because it's your shoulder bumping against mei mei's when the two of you leave the room.
you're turned golden with the connection. she's always had midas on her side, tucked into her lashes, her teeth, her nails, any part of her that she can drag along your skin.
it's a hot summers day when she brings you out to an abandoned train track. she's brought you to the edge of a thicket. the old rusting tracks look like they're the ageing borders to another world.
something in your stomach croaks as mei mei playfully balances along the steel rail. your feet remain carefully planted into the loose gravel. the sound of hollow metal and rock clashing against each other is a pleasant one. despite your subconscious unease, you briefly close your eyes and take in the warm air around you as she reaches out to grab onto your hand whenever she misplaces her balance.
she brought you out here to celebrate getting through another year together. your ears had burned at her words: together. so much implication behind such a simple word. you found your mind running as she brought you out without any other explanation. it wouldn't matter as long as you were together. as long as you were there whenever she threatened to tip over while treading along the thin metal beneath her with her arms splayed out like an elegant bird's.
the thicket walks along with you both, never ending in its length. just as mei mei hops off the rails and stops walking, you wonder just how she stumbled upon this place.
"we're here." she circles you languidly as your steps also slow.
"here?" you question dryly as she stands behind you.
you're facing the thicket head on now, eyes sucked into a whirlpool of sameness and obscurity. the endless and thick lanes of bark all mold into something foreign. the birds have ceased to chirp. something rancid seems to waft out of its clearing, like a gaping mouth that's feasted and starved.
"yes," mei mei whispers. her mouth is dangerously close to your ear.
she rests her head on your shoulder lightly, staring up at you with a look you've seen a thousand times before.
your head rests against hers, leaning into the touch.
"what is it?" you ask. eager, and perfectly pliant.
she chuckles softly, raising her hands to block your vision. they act as a blindfold, though her palms seem softer than any fabric.
"a surprise," she answers cheekily.
she makes contact with your skin, completely darkening your vision. your senses frenzy as one is dampened. for a moment, all you're able to register is mei mei's body against yours.
there's the faint chance of her perfection melding into whatever it is you've made of yourself.
the chance is however eradicated by the sudden rise of a rank smell. it oppresses the other scents around you so strongly that the feeling of it sliding down your throat has you choking on your own breath and spit.
with the loss of your sight, the rot in the air grows heavy with every passing second, stalking its blind prey.
your expression twists beneath mei mei's palms and she seems to feel the shift of every muscle in your skin. her fingers separate from themselves slowly, allowing light to creep into your vision through her command and nothing else.
what hobbles across the train tracks turns the spit in your mouth rancid.
what you can only identify as a discoloured mound of flesh and teeth writhes between the thick trunks of the thicket ahead of you. its skin gleams with bright and volcanic cysts, oozing the smell of rotten and overly ripened fruit.
"mei—"
"shh," she hushes. her lips are so close that they're able to graze your ears now, her breath fanning across your face. she smells sweet, like lollipops.
"just look," she demands. her voice progressively becoming shrouded by the caws of birds
her hands have hardened around your skin and if you weren't so frozen by fear you would recognize the testing and prodding of her fingertips. they try to spot any flaking, any fools gold feathered across you.
when she finds nothing, when your feet remain planted into the ground and you remain in her clutches, when you mold and gouge against her instead of crumbling, mei mei finds herself smiling.
she turns your body towards her just as crows manically dive into the monster and begin to merge each other into a pool of unidentifiable gore.
you've gone weak in the knees, but she catches you, still grasping you by your soft cheeks. the fear in your eyes glints against the excitement of hers as her thumbs brush the sweat and tears off your face.
there's a sort of ownership in her hold that's never felt safer to you before now.

it's so weird to me that a lot of people seem to think that mike genuinely meant to be homophobic during the rain fight? they think he's that mean and that he thought it through and went out of his way to act like their middle school bully because his best friend tangentially called his girlfriend stupid? and not...that it was a poor choice of words? maybe i just have too much faith in humanity but i literally couldn't brainwash myself into interpreting it like that...and neither could will
