it's a pet peeve of mine when ppl frame Andrew as hating Aaron and being needlessly cruel to him... bc while yes, their relationship is fractured and strained, Andrew genuinely cares about his brother and wants the best for him, he just doesn't know how to show that in a normal way.
like he might not know how to express it in a healthy manner but Andrew LOVES Aaron, like he truly just wants Aaron to be healthy and safe. It's like, his whole Thing. Aaron is one of the most important people in his life. Andrew wants him around. He'd do anything to protect him.
I guarantee Andrew wants to be emotionally close to Aaron too, he just doesn't have the tools to do that and the thought of letting someone in terrifies him. He also has no concept of what a healthy sibling relationship looks like, so he has no frame of reference to work from.

I know it's totally wrong for what you're shooting for but your stories make me feel bad for Clark. All these folks judging him, when as far as he can tell Kon doesn't even want to be around him. And honestly, he's had clones before. No one expected him to mourn when a Bizarro degraded
. . . okay, friend, first off I apologize, because I def got carried away with this response and it turned into a bit of a rant, hah. Please don't take any of this the wrong way or get the impression I'm annoyed by this ask or anything, I just fundamentally disagree with SO many things about how Clark's relationship with Kon has been handled in canon and apparently I had to word-vomit a lot of that out here and now in explanation of why I tend to write Clark as being Objectively Wrong about Kon/how he treats Kon.
A) There's no convincing reason I can think of that Clark should think Kon doesn't want to be around him, and if he DID, why would he have given him permission to wear the El crest to begin with, much less offered him either the name "Superboy" or "Kon-El"? Especially Kon-El, because that's a name that originated from a specifically ADOPTED member of his birth family, and Clark offered it to him while CALLING him family, but also . . . lying to him about having a secret identity? And whole-ass other life??
and also
B) I actually WOULD expect Clark to mourn a Bizarro degrading. That's like his whole deal, in my experience of him across various media: Clark Kent is a person who thinks that every person matters and is undeniably the kind of guy that would be upset by someone suffering from genetically-inevitable degradation. Especially if the people suffering that degradation only exist to suffer it because HE, Clark "I Am Personally Responsible For This Whole Damn Planet, And Yes That IS A Threat" Kent, exists.
Like, Clark always takes way too much on himself. So it doesn't really make sense to me that a dude like that would take one look at a kid with his own face who is actually at best about a month old and just decide "yeah, this person doesn't need me ever involved in their life at all" and STICK with that assessment even through repeated problems, near-death experiences, and straight-up disasters. ESPECIALLY because Clark already knew Matrix, and she was ALSO a genetic experiment who'd been made in his image by someone he didn't have any reason to trust. But he still took Mae to his parents' farm and let her live there pretty much immediately, trusted her with SO many of his secrets and even trusted her living with his parents without, again, having to jump through ANY of the MULTITUDE of hoops that Kon did to earn a similar level of trust, and she eventually started dating literal LEX LUTHOR and Clark still trusted her after THAT!
( I mean, I think everyone thought Lex was his own son at the time or something weird like that, Because Comics, but still! STILL!! )
Shit, Clark still trusted Mae after she had a mental breakdown ON HIS PARENTS and tried to attack him and had a severe enough psychotic break that she thought she literally WAS him! Mae very quickly proved herself to be WAY more dangerous and hostile than Kon has EVER been outside of being directly mind-controlled, but from the jump Clark is way more invested in her and her life and CARES way more about her and her life. And later he responds to Kara just as differently as he did Mae, despite her ALSO debuting as both a more dangerous and more hostile person than Kon. So like . . . there's a bit of a double-standard going there, it kind of feels like? Like, at least on a meta-level. And I'm sure most of it's editorial nonsense and the kind of narrative problems that lie inherent in like . . . what, thirty-plus years of comic history and about eight bajillion different writers and the like, obviously, but it just is REAL hard to justify that behavior in the actual narrative when Clark Kent is meant to be the moral paragon that the entire damn rest of the DC universe is meant to set its metaphorical watch by.
Either way, though, I'm usually trying to write Clark as either sympathetic or at least understandable in his logic, even when it's flawed, so I wouldn't really say it's "wrong" if you feel sympathy for him while reading my writing. Like, I'm not saying he's in the right in those specific fics, but I do still want to be empathetic to his point of view. It is again just REALLY hard for me to explain a lot of Clark's canon relationship with Kon in any way other than "benign neglect due to just deliberately assuming that all Kryptonians are always Perfectly Fine, Thanks due to his own personal issues about what 'Superman' represents", and that's the KIND option.
Long story short, I really just don't care what DC says, It is NOT on the brand-new teenager with zero life experience who Clark deliberately LET put an S-shield-shaped target on their back to single-handedly foster a relationship with the perfect superhero idol that most of the damn world looks up to. I genuinely cannot think of a single significant occasion where Clark ever does anything for Kon that involves CLARK having to put in any kind of recurring effort, but we're supposed to accept that KON has to earn scraps of Clark's attention and the right to be considered a part of his family over and over again--while Clark, again, doesn't have to do anything to earn Kon's attention or the right to be considered a part of HIS family? Ever? Even ONCE??
Relationships are two-way streets, DC! That's just how relationships are, DC!! Otherwise it's just parasocial bullshit or someone taking advantage of someone else, DC!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I really love Clark, I think he's a great character in a lot of fascinating ways and that he is VERY interesting and affecting when he's done well ("you can do anything you want, and all you want to do is help people" HELLO CRYING IN THE CLUB RN), but like . . . come on, DC, what the fuck and WHY?

some days ill be going about my day and then ill think about how much and unfairly cwilbur was ostracized and i feel ill .
because yeah, he fucked up and he hurt people and he was an asshole sometimes. he’s a very flawed character whose bad habits & self image impact his actions and reasoning and it ends up hurting people cause he can be pretty self-centered. some characters were obviously justified in not trusting him and didn’t owe him forgiveness. but also oh my fucking god
like NO ONE got NEARLY as much shit for their mistakes as cwilbur did. barely anyone gave him a chance the moment he was revived, and they all treated him like some kind of ticking bomb or generally a threat when he was clearly trying to change. hell, even ctommy, while he was arguably the one who stuck closest to him and was most lenient with him, said some pretty fucked up shit. like so many people implied or acted in some way or another like it was better off for everyone when he was dead. people preferred his GHOST. because ghostbur was wilbur but wrong, meaning really in their eyes he was right because wilbur was wrong. that’s the message he was getting. like sorry but if i were him i would also feel a lot of fucking resentment towards that guy. and im saying that as someone whose favourite character was ghostbur for like my first two months. (wilbur and ghostbur being the same person is an integral belief of mine but its also a different post)
and even BEFORE. in pogtopia. yeah people tried to help him but. did they really? tommy tried his best but, at the end of the day, given the average mental health awareness on this server no one truly tried to give him the help he needed (although ctommy was 16 and it literally wasn’t his responsibility, again im talking more about other characters). can you imagine how alone he must’ve felt? seeing the project he built his life and self-worth on rot and corrupt? slowly feeling himself sink deeper into paranoia and depression? while everyone watched on and kept him at arm’s length because of the threat he represented to others, rather than himself?
everyone around him focused on the fact that he blew up l’manberg and ostracized him for it, when doomsday trio who objectively made extensively worse damage to the place received nowhere near that level of criticism. sure they had enemies and not everyone trusted them, but people were willing to talk to them. get close to them. they weren’t treated like the fucking scum of the earth and someone who should die because of mistakes that they tried so hard to amend and that they made when in the worst mental health spiral of their life to the point where they wanted to die.
so yeah cwilbur deserved better

Some antisemite barely keeping the mask on/ someone absorbed in their propaganda being pipeline into neonazi shit without realising : "I'm not antisemitic look here's a link to a blog proving he's a Zionist! "
Person In the link :
"this guy is spreading Zionist propaganda and says that Palestinians are Arab colonialists and says to put 'support Israel in your bio
I'm not calling him a Zionist though , also don't trust Jewish people when they talk about antisemitism because that's how the Zionists get you with their propaganda you can't trust Jewish people talking about antisemitism because of the existence of people who say its antisemitic to not support Israels crimes against Palestine "
The screenshots:
don't show that just a collection of Jewish people talking about " wow people are using the I/P" war"as an excuse to be antisemitic and goym are eagerly jumping in and claiming Jewish people are Zionists as an excuse for their antisemitic shit "
Like you're not immune to antisemitic propaganda, nor islamophobic propaganda claiming that Jewish and Palestinians have no mutual goals and are all hivemind enemies of each other and that no Jewish Palestinians exist and that no Jewish non Palestinians have empathy or care for the Palestinian people when a lot of the loudest longest advocates against the apartheid have been Jewish people
Tumblr media
"the reason Zionists have gotten as far as they have is that they can use antisemitism as a defence" is pretty antisemitic and erasing the christofacists who want their prophecy to be fulfilled by Palestine being eliminated and are a much larger more powerful majority the world over than Jewish people
"focusing on Jewish suffering alone" is also blatantly false but antisemites never let the truth get in the way of their lies
"Calling out antisemitism is bad and means you support genocide" as the use of these screenshots the op has taken as "evidence of Zionist propaganda" suggest sure is a choice
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I mean yeah "pro Israel" looks sus if you divorce it from "it is a call and a reminder that Jews will always survive" context like you can not like the tone but I fail to see"pro Bibi we love genocide" in a message that's basically "hey a bunch of people in the only Jewish country were murdered and taken hostage and we can condemn that and mourn for those lost while also condemning the apartied and genocide of Palestine and mourning for those lost..... but antisemites are using this as an excuse to celebrate and call for all Jewish people in Israel to be genocided and many people seem to be throwing aside their leftism to join in where they see antisemitism as justified"
Like this isn't a sports team thing this is people's lives and families and there very much are antisemites who talk about "abolishing Israel" when what they mean is "kill all the Jewish people in Israel to keep all the Jewish people in the world in line because we've brought into antisemitic conspiracy theories about Jewish people having all the power and riches and controlling the media"
And you need to realise that and not treat this like it's a freaking soortsball "good team versus the evil jew-i mean ((Zionists))"
Like the OP is literally called fiteclub and seems to behave as if tumblr is a place for "fighting"\ harassment and takes glee in it which is why I had the OP blocked for a while because I got sick of seeing the constant harassing replies to @transmascpetewentz whenever he posted anything...like harassing people on Tumblr isn't activism and doesn't save lives let alone justifying harassment campaigns where people are being told to suicide and people are saying "this specific individual needs to be ended for the good of trans unity uwu but trust me I'm totes against transphobic dogpiles and hate campaigns based on misinfo" it's hypocritical as fuck and the antisemitism and transphobia are transparent as fuck

Oh! I wanna ask number 16 and 18 for violence ask game 👉👈
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
LOL I'm almost nervous about this one. Fanon Gavin. Just... fanon Gavin. I don't get it. He's very much a one dimensional prick in the game and that gives you so much scope to employ him as an antagonist, and there's so much you can do with him in that regard! The set up in the game gives damn good reasons for Gavin to treat androids like shit, and it implies he's very much the one to play Bad Cop with criminals, and...
Fanon says he has a sort of affectionately antagonistic relationship with the stone cold murderbot and has cats, and basically puts him through Hank's arc and I feel like that misses out on so much of Gavin's potential as a character. He's a very blank slate in a lot of respects, and I get the appeal of putting this dipshit in the fandom snow globe and giving him a thorough shake, but I don't personally want to see him redeemed. I'd rather see him continue to be a prick and an obstacle, just one that nuts up and does his job in a way that sometimes has him pointing in the same direction as the likes of Hank so Gavin can be a prick and obstacle in a way that benefits the good guys sometimes. 18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…
Josh, and I'll admit I do this too. We all know that North got dealt a raw deal by the narrative, and that Simon is quietly one of the more complex characters in Jericho. Kamski gets a decent amount of attention although I wish more people played with him as an outright antagonist out for his own ends instead of portraying him as obtusely benevolent in the background. Chloe doesn't get enough attention but that's my personal biases at play. Everyone accepts that Amanda is a really cool concept that is drastically underserved by the canon.
But Josh.... Our man Josh. He's a pacifist, and he's a university lecturer model, and...
I think out of all the androids in Jericho, Josh is the one that's looked into the civil rights movements that have worked in recorded history and how they're viewed by people now, and that's why he espouses the opinions he does. There are a lot of parallels between the android push for their rights and the Black Civil Rights movement, (and a lot of entirely justified criticism of the way the game handled all of that 'cause god damn DC, really?) and I really think that something could be made out of those parallels being a tactical choice made by Jericho, with Josh at the head of it, specifically to trigger those memories and equate the androids to something familiar and human in the minds of the general human population. And of course it doesn't happen because I'm pretty sure that DC didn't put that much thought into it, but I'd love to see someone better placed than me reframe that narrative as Jericho Knew What It Was Doing instead of "Yeah, DC is a huge piece of shit". (He is. Like I said, I doubt this was intentional on the canon's part. The canon handles this terribly because DC is a giant steaming turd of a human)
Josh is a university lecturer. He's used to getting humans to challenge the way they think and make them see things from different angles, it's kind of what he was built for. If anyone should be directing the revolution with a view to historical events it should be him.
Although I guess arguably that's canon sleeping on Josh, not just fandom.

moral severity in fiction: a ramble about some shit ive been thinking about for a long time bc ive started seeing marwa discourse again
ok my central thesis is this: the moral severity of a given action or belief in fiction does not necessarily equate to the moral severity of said action or belief in real life, and is moreso affected by the public acceptance and treatment of it. namely bigotry.
a lot of times i'll hear the "anything goes in fiction" crowd say "hey youre ok with wanton murders in fiction but when sexual violence is casually depicted suddenly its glorification?" while murder may be morally worse than sexual violence irl, it is not socially on the same level. like. everybody knows murder is bad. generally speaking if you murder someone you are going to get arrested and people will think you are bad. but sexual violence is very normalized. (there's a reason its called rape culture and murder culture isnt a thing.) even if people on a surface level think they are against sexual violence most will turn their back on victims once it actually happens and support predators.
and on a more specific level some types of murder ARE normalized. police brutality, war, hate crimes etc. and these, just like sexual violence, need to be handled very carefully in fiction. bc 1 there is a high chance that someone in your audience is or knows a victim of said violence and will be hurt by it. and 2 there is a high chance that someone in your audience on some level genuinely believes that violence is justified and your work will help enforce that idea.
ok now onto wwdits. theres a lot of violence and terrible shit done by our lovable main characters that is treated very lightly. the reason theres no moral panic (as far as ive seen) about this is cuz. well. first of all vampires arent real. but even taking out the fantasy aspect ppl going out to find virgins to kill and drink the blood of is not a problem that is happening in real life. it is just not connected enough to reality to be considered "glorifying" anything.
so while nandors (and the show itself) treatment of marwa is not in the reality of the show worse than the vast number of people he eats it is absolutely worse from a writing perspective. again if we're taking out the fantasy aspects of djinns and mind control then all we've got is a woman of color being manipulated and brainwashed by her husband to be more appealing to him and then being discarded without a second thought. which. yeah. is not an uncommon situation. and definitely one that people will make excuses for irl. its just not something that can be comfortably laughed off like crazy gore. i didnt expect her to become a fully fleshed out character or even to survive. its the specific manner of the way her story is told that is uncomfortable. like. i legitimately wouldve preferred her graphically dying than the psychological horrorshow shes subjected to in canon. it doesnt make me dislike nandor as a character (although i understand if it does for some people) bc it doesnt change much about his own morality but it absolutely says something about the writers that they didnt think through the way they wrote her

love that ppl are gonna traipse into your inbox talking about the 'leftist discourser found out to be working at Lockheed Martin' situation without mentioning that the only reason this information came to light is that he was doxxed by fucking kiwifarms, his life placed in active danger as a result.
and he was doxxed because he's an opinionated trans person with a platform who they've been trying to take down for years, not because of where he worked. feel however you want about his takes, personal politics, his job, anything at all, but holy fucking shit stop talking about this like it didn't happen as a direct result of neonazis trying to murder a trans person lol
also, like, he never said half the things people will attribute to him, so there is that. somehow 'taking tylenol at the prescribed dosage over extended periods of time to treat chronic pain can lead to liver damage' (something that lots of people with similar conditions chimed in to support, cause yeah, it happens lol) became 'he is anti vax and spreading medical misinformation'. because apparently a disabled person talking about something they personally experienced (that lots of other disabled people also experienced) is medical misinformation now?
anyway, i don't trust anything anyone says about his opinions any more unless i see the source for myself. people will outright lie just bc they dislike him and they got carte blanche FROM KIWIFARMS to express their hatred now that he's been driven off twitter and can no longer defend himself.
once again: he was not doxxed because of his job. he was doxxed because he is trans and a lot of people violently hated him for it. and just so that we're clear, 'working for a defense contractor is bad' can, should, and fucking MUST exist alongside 'supporting kiwifarms' doxxing of a trans person is bad'. his job as a clerical worker for an evil corporation does not justify this in any respect. (also like, no one is driving people off twitter who openly and proudly work for LM, which is also interesting to me.)
--
Kiwifarms sucks, and I'm sorry this particular glaring evidence of his hypocrisy and fakeness was revealed, but him being trans isn't why a shitton of those people dislike him. He was annoying long ago when nobody knew he was trans.
He presented himself and has always presented himself as this moral authority and preached purity, not tolerance. That's the type of person most likely to be pitched off of their pedestal.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.

If in your human au you draw Susie as anything other than brown you're wrong
Susie gives such " antisocial brown kid is labelled as angry and violent and gives up on being perceived as anything but"
If my lil kid self got into deltarune I would have lost it because she's literally me when I was small
Susie is such a brown kid in a small white community
Idk if this was Toby's intention but I don't care I love her so much
"she's rude and mean but isn't it nice that.. she's her?" if 11 year old me read that line I would have cried my eyes out
Brown kids are treated like shit so often man, especially when they don't meet social expectations. Just showing negative emotions can get you labelled as violent.
During a period in which I was deeply depressed I was asked by a white teacher if I was planning to hurt someone because I drew "satanic" art. YEAH MYSELF YOU BITCH.
You bet your ass Susie was just a bit antisocial when she moved into town and suddenly she was labelled as a violent freak.
She's my blorbo, just a silly lil gal.
I love her for similar reasons to Spamton. Don't get me wrong Spamton is white as shit but people go "oh he's such a freak he scares me" FUCK YOU he's just homeless and mentally ill no one comes out of an experience like that a nice person.
Like, being hurt doesn't justify treating others like shit but being hurt ain't gonna make you a nice person either.
I love Susie I hope the best for her, I want her to be safe.

Honestly I would just love CQ much more if Hoshido was just... the least bit bad. Like the racism against Nohr is bad but most of the time it's presented as a bunch of few bad apples in the army (Specifically the Takumi squad and Hinoka) rather than a massive societal problem. I always thought that if Hoshido was a kingdom with an excess of resources and a staunch refusal to help any other kingdoms even if they're in dire need would make CQ just a little more engaging to play? Like, if you're not interested in the Nohrian siblings you would at least understand why someone would want to fight against Hoshido if there's a country with an actual EXCESS of resources but they refuse to help your starving kingdom. Because at least to me, there's no reason to choose Nohr *as a player* if you aren't pulled by the siblings.
It's funny that you mention it because it's ironically in Birthright that you learn how Hoshido is kinda cracked. Like, Ryoma says they have an excess of resoucrces and Shura says that as a refugee he was explicitly rejected from entering Hoshido because they are so conflict avoidant that even victims get treated as potential threats to their peace.
And for me... that honestly works better? Like, the point of choosing Birthright is that Corrin is appalled by the injustice that Nohr has inflicted on innocent people, but later he confronts soldiers just trying to do their jobs and survive, he finds out that his choice has harmed many people close to him (partly because one of Corrin's major flaws is being unaware how important a person he is as a prince, a lord with retainers, and as a general figurehead), and that both Corrin and Ryoma both realize Hoshido should probably give a shit about its neighbors and not just its own problems; hence, the theme of togetherness and helping one another being applicable on both a character-to-character and country-to-country scale.
Likewise, the point of choosing Conquest is that Corrin gives the benefit of the doubt to both the home and family he grew up with, but has to confront the ugly reality that Nohr is beginning to decline into a cruel, tyrannical kingdom that's threatening the wellbeing of itself and other territories because of Anankos's corruption. Hence why seeing the best in people can often hurt you and others later, and it's important to walk forward and fix the now rather than lament on past actions.
Idk, I guess I never "got" the reasoning on wanting to make Hoshido and Nohr equally as bad as each other in both extremes, because not only is that not how wars happen, but for a route based game like Fates... I'd find it a bit weird and/or bland to have the game try to justify itself. Like, if Hoshido was more evil like some people want for Conquest... then what's substance of the rest of the script? I can't quite picture that kind of plot without thinking of the script tugging its own dick like "yeah, player! YOU chose the right path, cuz look at how awful the enemies are acting! Go you!" and it just sounds a bit unappealing.
Maybe it's just not for me, who knows.

Happy Birthday, Leona Kingscholar 🦁
Alright. Let's do this. Imma snatch this man's wig. Drag him for filth. I've been waiting for this moment.
It's only fair I get his out before I play catchup with everyone else. Im primed and pumped. Let's get these jokes off.
Tumblr media
Leona bothers me. Its not just because hes a grown ass man trying to stay in school. It's because he does it on pawpouse. He's playing 4D chess with everyone and found a way to stay in school rather than do ANYTHING ELSE. Leona values his school life more than his future bc hes afraid of what comes next.
Unlike Mal + Lilia who can pop back into school every half a century, Leona will have to go out into the world and stay there. He knows that whatever comes next, he's not ready for it. He's expressed his dislike for his home life and being a prince seems like it's more trouble than it's worth. Leona wants to be free to do as he pleases without someone breathing down his neck. I get that. Adulthood is scary as fuck and I don't blame him.
But what will happen when the people he's grown attached to moves on? He's got a revolving door of students in his dorm and even he will have to leave too. It's fragile just like the dust he makes. And that’s what I'm curious about. Is his family okay with this arrangement? Do they appreciate not having to deal with him? Because then this all makes even more sense. He justified that he has ppl to do shit for him at NRC, but whatever he wants can be done at home too. And since he's the second son, he could fuck off even more, right?
While he's not easily stressed, his emotions can get the better of him. His chapter is pretty mid, but Lilia’s taunts set him over the edge. He's most likely been ridiculed all his life as the second one. He doesn't have an identity back home. If someone taps into that nerve, it breaks him. Leona aint figured out who he is as an individual and as a prince he won't get it. His friends and "subordinates" treat him as Leona and not the prince of the sunset savana. But um, hes an asshole!
Yeah hes a gd asshole and I'm not letting it go. Leona is surrounded by people who love and support him and yet he brushes it off. He won't tell you how he feels and it is annoying. Like, bro, stop trying to prove a point and tell your friends that you give a shit about them. Especially Ruggie. You nearly killed him and yet he still helps you. Hes not even the vice dorm leader so he could just tell u to fuck off. Scar fell because he neglected the people he promised to support. He made false promises and didn't deliver on them when it came time to return the favor. And while Rome wasn't built in a day, his chapter didn't do any favors for him.
I said his chapter is mid because like Vil, the stakes were low and stayed low. Riddle's behavior affected the QOL of everyone in his dorm. Azul was damn near a slave owner. Jamil (while limited to just Kalim) could have gotten himself killed if word got back home. Vil and Leona didn't have high enough stakes until they inflicted their magic onto someone (which still bothers me that he went for Ruggie who hadn't provoked him).
His plan of breaking everyone's legs was dangerous. I think that puts his story higher than Vil's (which had reasonable demands most of the time). But if they rearranged some shit so that Savanaclaw students just went "fuck off leona, we're tired of this shit" and ruggie is the final one to go "I'm tired of it too." Then he would snap and we would get it. He wants control over everything in his life and now that he's pushed too many buttons, he will value the people who love him a little bit more.
To me, Leona first came off as a lazy son of a bitch who didn't want to get his hands dirty and blamed everything on everyone else. And while that may be true, I also think that his chapter should have made his charm more obvious. Or maybe that's the joke? All of his fans have no reason to like him!
You wanna know his appeal? Hes tsundere. That's it. His lines about MC are the most obvious but the ones about his dorm mates solidify it. Everyone loves an ass who can't tell you how he feels up front. But also people want to fuck cats so it's that too.
But I think Leona needs to ask himself: does he deserve it? Does he deserve to be a leader and does he deserve his position? I would venture to say he doesn't think so. He's not as self-deprecating as Idia, but his flaws can be pretty stifling for some. So to compensate, he asserts himself a little more while picking which fights he goes into.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO HIS REASONING FOR POMEFIORE. okay look. I appreciate a good surprise but Leona has another thing coming if he's sure he could take Vil. Their relationship is already frustrating for Vil because Leona doesn't put forth his best efforts all the time. Leona wants to reap the benefits with no work. He's spoiled. And that pisses Vil off because Vil is always on his grind. Type A vs Type B. And I agree. Leona's passiveness is frustrating especially when he looks down on people who could reasonably beat his ass. In terms of winning over the students, it's a tie. They're both attractive, persuasive and…fuck theyre so hot. But who will keep everything stable? Vil. Leona's good in Savanaclaw bc they value "the fittest" and follow whoever wins. All dorms could reasonably work like that that, but I think the application of Vil's UM could fuck Leona over. If he tested Azul or Riddle, he could win because their UM is easier to deal with. Mal is up in the air and Idia…probably would put it in a stalemate (see their chess battle). Plus, Leona hates stuffy clothes and would probably get annoyed by Rook long before he could actually enjoy anything Pome has to offer.
I get why he wouldn't want Diasomnia. Mal has that shit on lock. Scarabia would probably be easier than he thinks. Kalim and Jamil work in tandem so if he just gently pushed them both out the way, it wouldn't be too hard. Plus, Kalim already seems to like Leona. Jamil doesn't vibe with him, but what's he gonna do about it?
He could have just said pome to balance out the choices everyone made. I think i saw a chart floating around with everyones dorm pick so they probably didn't have enough Pome. Oh well.
Ok before I go, I wanna talk about his relationship with Ruggie. I said that Ruggie has no dimension to him because he's only got Poor and Leona as his defining traits. And I still believe that. Fun fact. At the time of writing this, Ruggie has about 7 lines that mention Leona. Leona has 5 mentions of Ruggie. Do with that what u will. For real tho, i like their relationship for some reason. Ruggie doesn't take shit from Leona and Leona just lets him say shit with thin threats. And Leona has a lot of faith in him too. Ruggie seems to underestimate his abilities sometimes which is why Leona pushes him. After all, what good is a servant that sucks at his job?
Going forward I think I want Leona to…not be an ass. Easier said than done lmaoooo. But for real hes definitely scared of adulthood because it means going back to a life where he is constantly shoved into a box and limited in his individuality. It's kind of the system that fucks him over the most. He's got his smarts but it kind of seems like mages are valued past just what you know. Soz, dude. Sucks to be you!
Happy Birthday Leona! 🦁😊

What the various authors do to Jayfeather drives me crazy. Like this man skyrockets between ableist to decent person to ableist to shithead to okay to Holy Shit This Man Is Workin Miracles to shithead to child abuse to
Like. My god. At least from what I remember he probably gets the worst of the characterization author inconsistencies.
Yeah, to be completely fair, it’s difficult to write a grumpy character, at least in my experience. You have to have some kind of balance to still make them likeable to the audience, usually by giving them a cheerful character to bounce off of, giving said character their comeuppance in some minor way, or giving them a sympathetic reason for acting that way. And to Jayfeather’s credit, he does have those qualities, at least in po3 and oots. There is a reason he’s a fan favorite, after all, clearly something about that resonates with people. I’ve got plenty of friends who love him in those books even if he’s not for me.
The problem for me is that the Erins like to cancel those out or write them poorly, like killing Briarlight and otherwise not giving Jayfeather a character who can stand up to him without fawning over how, no, his assholery is so charming actually and he’s such a good guy! A lot of the time, they can’t even do the bare minimum of having him be an asshole with consequences to him, at least thus far in avos. No, Jayfeather is SO justified for verbally abusing children because they annoy him while he works! Ha ha CLASSIC Jayfeather constantly screams at his apprentice, typical! /s
Like it’s funny sometimes, I got a couple of smiles out of The Apprentice’s Quest’s prologue which had him as the POV, and even in Thunder and Shadow I thought the bit where he straight up told Kestrelflight to drug Onestar with painkillers to be darkly funny (if only because it was clearly banter). But it’s uncomfortable to see him constantly berate his own apprentice and a literal orphaned child, and how he’s literally known to be someone who people are afraid to go to for help because they know he’ll berate them, and he gets no real consequences besides Alderheart snapping at him a few times (Which usually results in Jayfeather shouting him down and “winning” anyways) He still has the respect of everyone around him and it’s treated like a quirky thing because occasionally he’s kind of nice to Alderheart. It’s just uncomfortable at this point. Arc 1 Yellowfang worked for me because while she was also a grumpy person in a position of power, she did it to people who could take it, like Fireheart and Bluestar and Cinderpelt (who also works as a cheerful nice character for her to bounce off of). Jayfeather only has that in Leafpool and Briarlight, and they don’t use Briarlight enough in avos for it to work effectively before they snipe her, and Jayfeather hates Leafpool enough to bitch about her at her funeral and even after her death to the imposter if I’ve read some excerpts right.
I can kind of see the idea that the new team just has no idea how to write him and only see “oh he’s the fan favorite who is an asshole”, but I haven’t read oots in a while so I’ll hesitate on that.

I don’t know how to organise my thoughts about this, so bear with me. But the way the show treats Sun leaving with Blake in Volume 4 is very…goodn’t. Bad, you might say. Horrendous even.
The poor boy just wanted to help his friend and probably thought “Hey, at least my teammates have each other, but Blake is purposefully isolating herself and that’s probably not healthy after a tragedy like Beacon. Let me be her backup in case things go south!”
And they did! (Never watched anything after Volume 3 so I don’t know all the details but) there was a Grimm attack at the boat I think? Her incel friend tried to take her to her abusive ex-boyfriend as well as murder the Belladonna family??? She was still isolating herself from her friends?
Sun was actually being her backup and emotional support, even if he messed up at times with the following without her noticing and eavesdropping, but Blake abused him and her dad was shitty to him and he literally got stabbed and almost died, and this is barely touched upon if at all. His own teammates, one of them his best friend of many years, turn his room in Mistral into a game room and bet on him apologising and they with Team CFVY were generally just shitty to him as well.
(Remember when Scarlet told Sun in the book to his face that he [Sun] has never lost anything because he’s never stayed in a place long enough? To taunt him? In the middle of group therapy? Which turns out to be entirely wrong because Sun has lost people since childhood and everything he’s been doing is a subconsious trauma response to that loss? So his teammate has just completely invalidated his trauma in therapy and no one has anything to say about that, not even his best friend of many years? Trash friends, am I right?)
All I’m saying is, this boy just needs a time machine to Volume 4 so he can take the first boat to Patch to find his real friend/girlfriend and stop Salem with their combined power of blond hair, himbo energy and tiddies.
yeah like i hate how the choice of sun leaving was handled. should he have told his team? absolutely, especially after a traumatic event such as the fall of beacon but it’s been canonically established that sun does his own thing & struggles as a leader. he acts before he thinks, & this is a good character flaw!
the issue came when it was only him being attacked for his character flaw. blake being abusive for near the entirety of volume 4? it’s her poor twauma, baby just needs a hug. scarlet being emotionally & verbally awful to sun instead of just airing out his feelings & trying to resolve it? well he’s justified i guess, not like sun had very good reasons & that he was trying to solve things. also bringing up the orphan thing with no push back was just a low blow & the entire book felt like a “shit on sun” fest instead of actually trying to deal with these character flaws in a nuanced way.
honestly though, hard agree. leave blake to die by sea grimm cause she damn well couldn’t fight it herself, go be with yang & his future father in law ✨ that way neither of them get abused by the genderbent onision love interest & they could actually have some conversations about their respective trauma & healing!

It's the final stretch for the Zombie Survival round, and our Kamen Riders are fighting tirelessly for the chance to move on to the next! All eyes are on our brilliant survivors and also Tycoon to see who will become the DGP MVP! Odds are... not particularly high for some of us, but it's still anyone's game!
Anyways stan Na-Go.
Spoilers, I guess...
-Heeeeeey, Keiwa. I was just kiddin', you know?
-Seems like Neon's mother has really gone above and beyond keeping her on a leash. Though to be fair, this is a situation no parent would want their kid in. ...even with the insanely high likelihood that's not at all the reason Mrs. Kurama is doing this.
-Oh damn, Mary. Or rather, Kogoneya, right?
-Da-Paan in gamer jail.
-Damn, we're just killing them all right now huh fellas?
-Keiwa's pretty justified in running at him like that, Game, up yours.
-"I was just kidding haha fuck you"
-Awwww, Neon...
-Just wanted to be free, huh?
-Keiwa's so cruel.
-"Money" seems like a pretty wasteful use of this kinda wish, Kogoneya.
-People die, and for them we still fight on. Thus says the fox.
-John and Ben seem like perfectly fine guys off the clock. Shame Neon's got such a target painted onto her.
-HOLY SHIT
-No you, don't get to say that, you knocked her onto the floor with that slap!
-Yeah, you tell that bitch!
-Cat, Fox, and Raccoon.
Keiwa: Even if your chances are slim, you're still my friend and I want to help you get that second lease on life you deserve. Ace: And I'm gonna kill you for that Victory Royale. :) ...sorry. :(
-Neon... by gosh, do I admire you.
-You ain't a rotting meat sack yet, Neon! ...or I guess rotting plant sack, but...
-Gamer time.
-Oh shit, Azuma's got a gun!
-I guess Da-Paan didn't make it.
-Wow, Mary's willing to put civvies in active danger for that.
-Oh dammit, he's still kickin'.
-"As a Gamer, I already had no rights!"
-Oh hell yeah, Neon's back!
-Na-Go, playing by her rules!
-NEVER GIVE UP!
-...see it's funny, because Armed Hammer is a repaint of the... the Donkachi...
-Never mind
-The cat has the power of BONK
-Speedrun strats, gotcha!
-Awww, giving her a little Boost :)
-Huh... are they perhaps setting up a more explicit romance than normal between Neon and Keiwa?
-...I'm pretty on board with this.
-Na-Go and Tycoon, they have potential to be a cool Reiwa power couple. As long as they figure things out naturally, Keiwa knows how to treat a girl right, and Neon gets to keep being as cool and fascinating as she has been, then yeah I'd be all for it. ...don't fuck this up, Takahashi, I beg you. Neon's desire to break away from her abusive mother and live a normal life is an absolutely perfect motivation, just let this thing you may or may not be planning between her and Keiwa be part of that instead of superseding it.
-...with all that said, I'm still gonna be assuming that Keiwa and Ace are fucking extensively off screen. Neon can even join in if she wants, but that's just how it works in my head. OT3, go!
-Okay, Tangent Over, sorry about that, where were we?
-Oh yeah, Neon's about to kick everyone's asses. Based.
-Dual On!
-Boost Armed Hammer! Ready, Fight!
-Catgirl Violence.
-Oooooh, absolutely smashed!
-Nice catch, man!
-God, I love team-up attacks. Hope we get to see tons more of them.
-Oh whoops.
-Thanks Buffa, eat my ass.
-It ain't over til it's over!
-ACE YOU LITERALLY COULD'VE KILLED HER
-Revolve On!
-LOVING this look btw.
-Oh!
-That's a big hammer!
-That's King Dedede's Down-B!
-Thank you, Boost Buckle!
-Hooray, you're free!
-Good job, Neon!
-I see Keiwa doesn't get an honorific. I hear that's pretty indicative.
-Da-Paan going to Gamer Hell.
-Sayonara... Kanato Sumida.
-His riding license has been revoked.
-Final boss time.
-I'm rooting for you every step of the way, Neon.
-I see... Ace and Azuma are being backed for different reasons, hmm?
-What might next episode bring us?
-Pairing up!
-Punkjack?
-Is that a fucking pumpkin bear
-Oh, no, that's a grizzly. Too bad Shirowe's dead and Da-Paan's in Gamer Jail, we could've had a We Bare Bears special.
-Hmm.
-I see.
-Okay.
-Apparently Punkjack's a bot for Mary to team up with. I wonder how many NPCs the DGP staff have? And how they were created? ...are they perhaps heavily modified HumaGears, Takahashi? Perhaps some benign strain of Bugster Virus? Or are they like weird... developer ghosts?
-Either way, I'd be happy to see them in action.

You can be narcissistic without NPD. Narcissistic abuse is a very specific pattern of abuse. My narcissistic abuser didn't have NPD (BPD actually, and being abused by one person with BPD hasn't stopped me from forming plenty of meaningful friendships with others with personality disorders including BPD and NPD) this is the way my therapist explained it to me. It's about the self centered nature of the abuse, turning everyone else into an accessory for one thing or another.
Tumblr media
Say these. These are the words you're looking for. Because even the word "narcissistic" wouldn't be all that accurate to what you're specifically trying to describe:
Tumblr media
The reason your abuser w/ BPD showed patterns of "narcissistic abuse" (besides the fact that it's just emotional abuse with an ableist coat of paint) is because BPD and NPD are in the same cluster of disorders and have quite a lot of overlap. This does not mean people with BPD are narcissists. I know this because my mother has BPD and emotionally abused me for around 8 years. Part of this was due to stress, but a lot of it was also the fact that she never resolved her own trauma and all that was lashed out onto me when I wasn't just being emotionally neglected. My biological father was also heavily suspected to have NPD, though we never got confirmation. He was extremely neglectful and saw the entire family unit as proof that he was a "good father/person", rather than actually caring for us, but he ultimately had a similar story of never dealing with his trauma and hiding behind it like a protective shield.
8 fucking years of that shit. MORE than that, actually, the 8 years is just what I actually remember.
All that, and I STILL don't think "narcissistic abuse" is a good term.
The word "narcissist" outside of the context of the disorder (which people WILL conflate with the disorder regardless) is used to describe someone like Narcissisus, who literally fell in love with his reflection so badly that he fucking died. I wouldn't describe any of my abusers as having an. Er. Erotic interest in themselves.
Self-absorption and insecurity can ABSOLUTELY lead to you mistreating others, but that doesn't make it a distinct type of abuse, nor does it justify potentially throwing an entire group of people under the bus. Like it or not, when people hear the word "narcissist", they are most likely going to think of people with NPD because that is where the word is most commonly applied. And the more we shift away from using "narcissist" as a generic insult and begin to treat it with actual weight in a mental health context, the better.
I'm not trying to invalidate your specific experiences, but at the end of the day: anything you can describe "narcissistic abuse" as being is something you can apply the term "emotional abuse" to. There is no reason to go to such lengths justifying a phrase that is redundant at best, harmful at worst, describing a "type" of abuse that's incredibly nebulous and can be done by anyone. In fact! Let me take a look at a wholeass Psychology Today article about "narcissistic abuse" and cross-compare it with an article from the same site about emotional/psychological abuse.
Narcissistic Abuse:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Emotional Abuse:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And from ANOTHER article from the same site:
Tumblr media
Yeah. They're the same fucking thing. You were emotionally abused. Trying to stretch it like "oh well it's different because my abuser was Cluster B--" sounds fucking horrendous. Narcissistic abuse is an ableist term that acts as if narcissists (or Cluster Bs in general) have some sort of inherently more evil form of emotional abuse when they... really don't. Anyone can act like this, and it'll hurt the same regardless. All that changes is whether you blame the person or the disorder.
It gets sillier if you try to apply this to other disorders. Borderline abuse. Autistic abuse. Depressed abuse. Anxious abuse. Insecure abuse. See how it sounds when it isn't someone you see as uniquely or inherently more dangerous.

also not to rant all day but I saw a post earlier tangentially related and it made me realize why I have such a problem with a lot of recent YA (and was part of the reason why I got annoyed with Seasonal Fears, which I'll use as an example bc it's freshest in my memory):
I feel like you can hear all the fucking Twitter arguments the author has had on-page. Like, I feel like some authors spend more time trying to convey THEMSELVES and THEIR OPINIONS on socio-political issues, or (in SF's case) waste a ton of words trying to explain why a thing the internet has decided is Bad, Actually (ie. beefy jock boyfriends with fragile chronically ill girlfriends) is Fine in this scenario, because undoubtedly a bunch of randos on twitter took them to task for it, and instead of saying "yeah, I'm writing this, you need to stop making assumptions in bad faith" they went "oh shit everyone who reads this book needs to know exactly where I stand and that I would never write a Bad character so they don't use the most bad faith interpretation to come for me!!!"
Like I didn't need a ramble every other paragraph about how Harry from SF is good and kind and supportive and not abusive or an asshole, and oh gawd if he has a steamy thought about Mel it's all over! like, author. you told us they've been dating for like 4 years at this point, I don't need a disclaimer that he's Not a Rapist every time he thinks about her. He doesn't even do anything terribly questionable on-screen except some mildly poor driving due to exhaustion and distraction by magical shit, and yet every action comes with a (*not a bad guy here's a paragraph about it)
Also I feel like this is contributing to the idea that every book an author writes has to be a direct reflection of themselves and their thoughts and feelings on certain issues, and every book needs to be treated as a manifesto of their current beliefs, and I hate that. The more you give into the idea that you need to justify and bargain and plead with your readers to think of you as a normal human and not a monster, via a FICTIONAL STORY THAT YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE A PART OF, UNLESS YOU'RE MAKING SOME AUTHOR SURROGATE LIKE LEMONY SNICKET, the more you contribute to people not being able to write books with grey morality or villain protagonists or thought exercises instead of clear black-and-white morals without getting hunted for sport.
And like, I get the idea. but THE STORY DOESN'T NEED AN (A/N LISTEN I KNOW I WROTE A BEEFY STRAIGHT RICH FOOTBALL PLAYER BUT HERE'S ME PRETENDING TO BE HIS INNER MONOLOGUE JUSTIFYING WHY HE'S A GOOD GUY AND WOULD NEVER HARM HIS GF, A NORMAL THOUGHT PROCESS EVERYONE HAS ALL THE TIME NOT REFLECTIVE OF MEAN THINGS PEOPLE SAID/MIGHT SAY ABOUT ME ONLINE) EVERY CHAPTER. If it relates to the story or is natural for your characters to say or think, cool, but I don't need your poorly-disguised flustered rants practically titled Twitter Might Cancel Me For This So I'm Trying Harder To Explain Myself. It's HELLA boring.
